Rockstar/The Panic Channel in Chicago

There is not a lot to report today. Things are dying down and it's back to life as usual. Yesterday's Rockstar taping was a lot of fun. It was probably the most fun we have had on the couch all season. It will for sure be edited down because we have so many performances to get to, but I am honestly excited about when we get down to five singers and still have an hour to fill. It will be total anarchy!

1. Dave why have you decided not to engaged with these performers during clinics etc?

Well, there are several reasons. First of all, when I am not doing the show, I am working on The Panic Channel and preparing for the release of our album (ONe) which comes out in 21 days. Also, this season, the guys in Supernova are so entertaining on their own that I really feel they should be the ones delivering the clinics. The other thing for me, which is a personal note, is that the less time I spend with the singers, the easier it is to be brutally honest with them and not try to tone down my comments. It is hard when you get to know people and like them and then have to tell them why they suck... I mean, why they aren't right for this band. Overall, more Supernova and more honesty from the couch makes for a better show.

Monday, August 7th, The Panic Channel will be playing a benefit show in one of our favorite cities: Chicago, Illinois for the Hard Rock Cafe Ambassadors of Rock Tour. Proceeds from ticket sales for Ambassadors of Rock in Chicago will be directly donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Tickets for the event are available through TicketWeb. Fans will also have a chance to win tickets through local Chicago radio station Q101 FM.

Loop Experiment Update

It all began in the summer of 2004 at Dave Navarro's (Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers) web site, 6767.com. The idea of trading tracks and building songs together was formed through one of Navarro's blog and response posts. This occurred just before the announcement and arrival of Navarro's new band, The Panic Channel. As a result, The Panic Community was born, and The Loop Experiment quickly took form. In the past year, we have received airplay on the Camp Freddy radio show in LA on Indie 103.1, composed 14 original songs, and a slew of tracks in development. A web site was created Loop Experiment, for all of our wares to be presented. Where else could anyone, make music with another in Canada, England, South Africa, France, Austrailia, or the Carribean. The diversity of all of these regions is reflected in the Completed Experiments at the site. In the spirit of Loop Experiment, all tracks are free to download. Anyone is welcome to join and be a part of this process.

The Game - Neil Strauss

My friend and Don't Try This At Home co-author, Neil Strauss has a new book coming out on September 6th entitled, The Game. If you enjoyed The Dirt, How To Make Love Like A Porn Star or The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell, you must pick up The Game:

Hidden somewhere, in nearly every major city in the world, is an underground seduction lair. And in these lairs, men trade the most devastatingly effective techniques ever invented to charm women. This is not fiction. These men really exist. They live together in houses known as Projects. And Neil Strauss, the bestselling author, spent two years living among them, using the pseudonym Style to protect his real-life identity. The result is one of the most explosive and controversial books of the year -- guaranteed to change the lives of men and transform the way women understand the opposite sex forever.

On his journey from AFC (average frustrated chump) to PUA (pick-up artist) to PUG (pick-up guru), Strauss not only shares scores of original seduction techniques but also has unforgettable encounters with the likes of Tom Cruise, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Heidi Fleiss, and Courtney Love. And then things really start to get strange -- and passions lead to betrayals lead to violence. The Game is the story of one man's transformation from frog to prince to prisoner in the most unforgettable book of the year.

I'm With The Band - Reprinting

The new printing of I'm With The Band by Pamela Des Barres is out. The book has a new foreward by Dave Navarro.

The stylish, exuberant, and remarkably sweet confession of one of the most famous groupies of the 1960s and 70s is back in print in this new edition that includes an afterword on the author's last 15 years of adventures. As soon as she graduated from high school, Pamela Des Barres headed for the Sunset Strip, where she knocked on rock stars' backstage doors and immersed herself in the drugs, danger, and ecstasy of the freewheeling 1960s. Over the next 10 years she had affairs with Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page, Keith Moon, Waylon Jennings, Chris Hillman, Noel Redding, and Jim Morrison, among others. She traveled with Led Zeppelin; lived in sin with Don Johnson; turned down a date with Elvis Presley; and was close friends with Robert Plant, Gram Parsons, Ray Davies, and Frank Zappa. As a member of the GTO's, a girl group masterminded by Frank Zappa, she was in the thick of the most revolutionary renaissance in the history of modern popular music. Warm, witty, and sexy, this kiss-and-tell–all stands out as the perfect chronicle of one of rock 'n' roll's most thrilling eras.
