CHILDREN WITH AIDS PROJECT

Children with Aids was founded in 1988 by Jim and Joy Jenkins out of frustration with the bureaucratic red tape and erroneous regulations they personally experienced when adopting a son who was HIV-positive. They decided they had to do something and committed to a single mission: to transform the silence that surrounds HIV infected, affected children and AIDS orphans into an audible sound. Now CWA works to create adoptive, foster, family centered care programs that are both effective and compassionate.

To that end, Children with Aids has created a national database of
thousands of families who want to adopt HIV infants and children. In
addition, CWA locates abandoned and orphaned babies through their
relationships with public and private hospitals to facilitate their
adoption and minimize their time in foster care, provides pro-bono
legal assistance to adoptive families and educates families on how to
care for these special needs children.
