SXSW

(Photo: Margaret & Yoli) Lots of stuff goin on. Our show at SXSW went great and we all had an amazing time. It was the first time we have had the opportunity to spread out a bit on a larger stage and we played to about 1000 people, our fullest house yet. We started the set with Three Days and took it from there. I have to say that I am very lucky and honored to be playing with such a great and diverse group of players. Everyone was on form the other night. Avery stomping around keeping the solid rolling bottom, Perk unyielding as always and Perry the ultimate showman, captivating as ever. It was a late show, 1:30am, and somehow that felt like a perfect time for us that night. Reminded me of the old days when we would play a gutted warehouse at an ungodly hour. The venue was an old supermarket that had been revamped and turned into a club for the event. (Insert "Been Caught" puns here.) We are very happy that many of our fans were able to attend as a result of the website sign up. I know it's not a perfect system yet, but we are on it. Great to see Margaret and Yoli up front and my friends from Girl In A Coma showed up to lend us support. ALWAYS great to see them! I kept a Twitter Feed going throughout the night to share the evening with those who could not attend. For some reason, I took some shit for this... But fuck them! They can ALWAYS unfollow... RIGHT? For me, part of the excitement of doing shows is interacting with the people. Now that we can interact with people everywhere at once... Why not do it? We also did some press together for the first time since we have been working together with the original line up. Rolling Stone, MTV, SPIN etc... The process wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I am happy we have until now, remained quiet about what's going on, unless directly to the fan base from us or our touring partners NIN. Speaking of which, the NIN/JA Tour Site is now up with a free down loadable NIN/JA EP featuring some re-recorded tracks... Whores and Chip Away. The thinking being that we wanted to give our longtime listeners something to celebrate the tour and Whores has always been one of the tracks that defined Jane's early on. The XXX version, while full of attitude and captures the time it was done, lacked some of that complete sonic "turn it up in the car while driving fast" quality... Even though we did! We recorded the songs with Trent as he seemed a perfect fit for us... We are, after all, going on tour together. He did an amazing job working with us, which isn't always easy! He brought an updated take on the songs while insisting on staying true to the Jane's raw sound of the time. Now, for the first time, these multi tracks are available for download so you can do mixes and tweak the songs anyway you want. The tracks are available here. Thanx to Trent, Atticus and Alan for the great work and the online space and community to make this possible. For now, we are in full Jane's rehearsal for the tour mode. We are also working on making our online community smoother. The site JUST launched and definitely needs some fine tuning. We thank you for your continued support and we will see you very SOON.

Fucking awesome post DN, gig sounds wicked and how much screaming have I just done at the screen for not knowing you were twittering at the same time?! Haaa, you are amazing! Can't wait to see you over here and right now about to download tracks. Thank you thank you.
Much love for a brilliant weekend to you and all.

Yeeeah! See you June 9th Dave!

Love you!!

Oh, "Whores" sounds AMAZING, man.

I appreciated the twitter updates during the show. While it would have been better to be there in person, it was a way of sharing the experience.

To have a re-recorded version of "Whores" is great.

Any chance you guys are stopping in Salt Lake City this tour? I'm trying to work out my time to road trip to another date close by, but that may not be feasible.

Dave, congratulations on the tour, what an awesome lineup!

I haven't been around much lately because I've been attending Phil Spector's Retrial for the past 5 months. Closing arguments begin next week. I hope he is finally convicted.

"Fuck them" is right. I told Todd the same thing about the snotty DMs he got on Twitter from people saying his tweets were offensive. No one's forcing anyone to follow, so step off and relax people! hahaha

Downloaded the NINJA EP yesterday. The songs were amazing before and they're amazing revamped! I can't fuckin wait for the Irvine and Mt View shows!!

OH, and Todd's video of the La Cita show (up at ninja2009) is INSANE!!! Totally brought me back to one of the best nights of my life. Now I just need it on DVD! haha Please pass along a huge thank you from all of us...he always hooks it up.

Dave and 67Er's, DN, thank you are so sweet you know we love the fuck out of you. It was an Awesome show. I don't know how else to describe it other then magical. Everyone was just amazing. The thing I love about JA is that everyone has a part I mean no one drowns out the others. You hear every instrument. Each one of you the best at what they do. Perry's vocals were killer. Perk was amazing, Of course Eric's bass lines rock ass. And of course you play like your not playing guitar like its part of your soul. OMG I know a few posts ago someone was complaining about ticket prices... Shit i would sell a kidney to see that show again. I would pay triple what you are asking. Prices are very reasonable. Jane's is back with a fucking vengeance!!!!! See you on May 12!!!

XOXOXO
Margaret

ANY CHANCE YOU'LL BE JOINING PERRY TONITE AT PANGEA ? Or have you left Austin already?

I think the "behind the scenes," backstage, mini-documentary, twitter feed was a great idea and I hope you do more of it. Hard to believe anyone would object.

So check this out, Dave,

Friday we saw the commercial for NIN/JA for the Post Gazette Pavillion - not once but three times! What a way to get the excitement going! My co-worker wants me to take her to the concert - don't know how I feel about that one - but we had so many people in and out of the office that two of them stopped to watch the add.... they were like "Really? JA together again????" and I got totally revved just thinking of June 10th....

Can't wait!

Always,
me

Dave, I'm so excited about this reunion but something has been really bothering me!!

Why no "Strays"???? That's seriously your finest album, imo. I know that's not the conventional opinion, but at the very least it is a SUPERB hard rock album with tons of PERFECT Jane's songs that deserve to be played live. Please please please please please don't ignore it just because Avery's back or for whatever reason. I love that album so much, it doesn't deserve to be left out to dry.

What is that wierd man in the shadow doing? Is he holding your penis? Well I was just thinking, I notice you are so good hearted and nice to your fans, WHY then, when you play in Scotland do you not rent out some five star hotel rooms for your loyal british fans as a thankyou for their loyalty in the face of adversity! Also a traditional Scottish dinner (without Haggis) perhaps some Border Lamb, plus a full cooked Scottish breakfast of course but breakfast should be included with the room really. A little luxury cruise around Loch Ness wouldn't go amiss either. I personally would prefer to be put up in a hotel in a real Scottish Castle, but the Holiday Inn will do, if vacanices are limited.

Not that i am bored in the library or anything, but couldn't help but look up luxury castle hotels in Scotland. This one I feel would suit your fans perfectly.

I do like the gardens surrounging it. You don't have to be there or anything, you'd just have to pay.

This looks like quite an acceptable one also.

Of course your fans do have family, partners kids and so on, maybe you could pay for one other person alongside each fan. e.g. one child.

Hey tiffanyb,

I love the way u all speak across the pond..I do wonder, how would I call some1 an asshole over there? ;)

I do enjoy reading your posts, however-

Posted by: Bird Vaczine [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 23, 2009 03:59 PM

No you don't enjoy reading my posts Bird Vaccine, they are childish and not funny, I admit. You were just feeling guilty and sorry for me but its okay. i quite enjoy being called an asshole and being told I have the breath of a dead pig.

This Castle hotel looks pretty good also.

Check out the views from the bedroom windows! If Dave is too stingy to put even his deeply loyal, long suffering fans up there, he could always take his Barbie Doll there for a romantic Scottish Break instead. I'm sure they won't charge for a barbie doll, although upon reflection Scottish people are notoriously stingy, actually they probably would. Perhaps better hide her down his trousers.

Dave,

You look really good for 97.

Here's a blatant fan request...I've been with you for years...every little show in every band...shook your hand at the tennis court in BH, took and posted the trippy picture of you you used on your blog after the La Cita show: http://www.6767.com/archives/PerryDave.jpg

You owe me absolutely nothing so no worries if it's "no"...but any way you can hook me up with one decent ticket to the Vegas NINJA show? I can't go to the 'local' show in Irvine and the tix are so expensive for Vegas...I'm willing to fly our and get a room...but if there's anyway.

I promise, if it's 'no' I'm still a fan and will still be with you.

Thanks in advance if possible.

Rick

P.S. thanks for the studio version of "whores"...I think life is just about complete now. ;)

p.s. the 97 comment was in reference to your stated age at MySpace.

Hey Dave and 67's, I haven't been around for a while as it has been pretty hectic, but i am still hangen and i am more than happy about the tour you are on at the moment...
I wish i had the op to be able to check it out but i am sure that at one stage or another i will visit America again and i expect to be able to check out one of the nights that you are having...
Life is rather difficult at the moment with the impending recession but we are doing our best to stay above water... And being able to go to some shows and be able to take your mind off day to day crap that goes on would be great..
by the way this Twitter thing blows my mind i have not had time to discover it yet but it seems to be the in thing...can someone explain this to me...
take care.
love and stuff..
Sonni... xx

Melville Castle looks really good also. Why not take all your porn friends and set up a little playboy Scottish Castle mansion! Which brings to mind the time my myspace was getting hits from Tarzona and I told my mother about it, joking it was probably the playboy mansion, and she got all upset because she thought Hugh Hefner was going to ask me to move into the Playboy Mansion HAHAHA, I had to reassure her there wasn't any danger of THAT!
