Dark Matter & Update re: PORTLAND w/J Mello
(photo: Ambersonian) ATTN: Bobby, Jim & Jo...
Unfortunately, due to a travel mix up in New York, we had to cancel tonight's Portland show. I had you guys on the list, but sadly I will not be there to meet you. I hope you understand and we will more than likely be back eventually to make up the date.
Tonight is an all new Dark Matter (Wed 12a-2a Indie 103.1FM) with my tech Dan! The phones are down at the studio... Or I already taped the show or something like that! Anyway, with the lack of calls we can get into more music. Check it out tonight or catch the podcast later. Still trying to confirm my guest for next week. This could turn out to be a very magical holiday season after all! 41 years later, I'm still hanging in there for that Christmas miracle!
Last night's Camp Freddy show at The Roxy was a fucking blast! We were joined by our friends Steve Jones, Mark McGrath, Brett Scallions, Billy Duffy, Duff McKagen, Abby from Slunt and Sully Erna from Godsmack. Sully sang AIC's Man in a Box and Zep's Good Times Bad Times and was unbelievable! That guy has some serious pipes! We were so blown away that at the last minute, Matt suggested another song. After a quick brushing up on stage for me with Steve Jones, we went into the Pistols' Bodies. (Hey, if I am gonna brush up on a Pistols song, who better to go to?) Sully of course nailed the fuck out if it. It was a great way to kick off the month long residency at The Roxy. We have three more shows each Tuesday for the rest of December. Of course, I will be giving away tickets here and on Indie 103.1 when I am back in the studio next week.

Anyone in particular's fault in New York or the entire state? 'Cause I can tell ya, wasn't me!
Though Bloomberg..might be really really rich but he's a little shifty looking!
So, how was the show?

Dave,
You've mentioned before that you have an autistic family member, and I know you've been involved with some autism-related charities in the past, so I wondered if you could help my friend with her upcoming event by perhaps mentioning it on Spread Radio. I'd have asked earlier if you could mention it on Dark Matter, but you said the show would be pre-taped this week.
The event is called 'A Night of fun for Autism and Arts', and it is this Sunday, December 7th, at The Organic Panificio restaurant in Marina Del Rey. The event is hosted by Venice Beach "Heart and Soul", and Generation Rescue (Jenny McCarthy's Autism organisation.)

If anyone happens to go, tell them not to forget to tip the bartender, Rachel. She's a total cutie.
Sorry to hijack this comment thread, but I couldn't find a more suitable method of contacting you. (OK, I didn't really look THAT hard. I've got other shit to do, too, you know.)
Oh, and BTW... thanks again for the drumsticks from Chip Away at El Cid. I'm looking forward to Camp Freddy the rest of this month, and to what the future holds for Jane's Addiction.

hopefully you didn't end up flying out to have to turn around... although PDX is at least a decent airport. i couldn't make it tonight as i previsouly posted due to school work overload, so i look forward to you guys heading out in the future. one thing though, FYI i and others had a really hard time finding show info for the refectory, the show was not listed in the willamette weekly or the portland mecury and finally after an advanced search i found the myspace for the refectory, which had a ticket price, but no time listed for the show... just a thought... maybe get it listed in one of the aforementioned...hope to catch you when you do make it out here.

Your christmas miracle...Are you going to get.....SANTA CLAUS on your show? Is that your christmas miracle? Actually, that would be quite easy, the stores are full of underpaid grumpy santas who are utterly pissed off with children peeing on their knee and pulling their beard, and who would only be too glad to come on your radio show, get a free cup of coffee and have the opportunity to vent their their true feelings about other people's small children and the festive season! but this might get a bit too dark...even for your radio show.
As for Christmas miracle some would say you already have one! For some of the guys I talk to, well.. if they somehow turned from an unconfident impoverished spotty young sale person ( for e.g. one was so desperate he even tried to get off with me, I think he was on drugs and not thinking straight) well anyway, if they turned into a rockstar and got to spend their christmas in a luxury apartment in Hollywood, having their "needs" attended to to by their personal choice of adult entertainment star ( or stars even)... for them this would INDEED be a miracle! A dream come true!
On the subject of adult entertainment stars perhaps one of them could cheer Santa up.
miracles do happen...and I may wake up on Christmas morning and have my sanity restored!!!!! Heres hoping!!!! haaaaaa.haaaaaaaaaaa.

Asking feels like taking to a degree so it's a hard one for me to do but what the hell...
I'll be in southern california for the week of christmas, my birthday is 12.24 and I can't imagine a better way to spend my birthday then being on a guest list for the 12.23 camp freddy show...
Anyhow, since your new show dark matter has started I've finally entered to the world of ipod...why the hell didn't I have one of these ages ago??? I love listening to the show and appreciate the great laughs while listening...
Enjoy & Safe Travels!!!
Kisses

Can't say that I'm not disappointed, but I'm blown away by the level of contact that you keep with us and the consideration that you show to the fans. Maybe you can put us on the list for the next show...the JA world tour stop in Portland. Thanks again!

Ha. So glad it was kickass fun, it looked it.
Have just been watching Amber's vids on youtube of the La Cita gig. DN a world of pleases... Within this flurry of impromptu shows is there anyway you guys can in the mystical sense of 'one day' possibly comsider getting your talented asses over to a venue in NYC cos that's only an 8hr flight from here and way easier to get to than the rest of the U.S!!! Like that will make any difference! And then there's the getting of tickets. I have a new camera and can promise good pics! ONE DAY!! Ah well, we can but dream of greencards!
Have a sweet weekend Mr Navarro!

Ha, Dave, The Right Stuff is on--reminds me of back in the SRL days with you, Robin and Todd quoting it..."ya got any Beeman's?" :)

Haha Sue, I was watching it too!!
"The best results seem to be obtained through fantasization, accompanied by masturbation, followed by ejaculation"
Best. Movie. Ever.
That SRL was so much fun! Well for me, Dave and Todd anyway...
Here's a piece of sad trivia about The Right Stuff I don't know if you know Dave-in 1986 the actress who played Nurse Murch (who I quoted above) Jane Dornacker was a radio helicopter traffic reporter for WNBC here in NYC. While live on air doing the traffic, the helicopter crashed in the Hudson river and she and the pilot died.
