Post X-Mas

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I had a really great couple of days just hanging with the family and eating and sleeping and relaxing! Sure, I got tons of mass texts as per usual, but I simply deleted as they came in so no real big deal there. I guess mass texts are just a wave of the present much like info-mercials or T-Shirt companies on MySpace. The real thing about them is that if you really want to break it down, it's not about a sincere holiday wish to the receiver specifically, it's about the sender not wanting to be forgotten and taking an opportunity to let everyone know that they still exist! If I look at it like that, it's easier to feel some sort of empathy instead of resentment.

For NYE I will be in Atlanta at a club called Primal. If there is anyone here in the area who would like to come, just let me know here in the comments.

As you could see from the videos, the last Camp Freddy show at the Roxy was incredible! Of course, Ozzy was amazing as he joined us for Paranoid, Iron Man and Crazy Train... But the night leading up to his performance was just as spectacular with our friend Linda Perry who sang some unreal versions of Led Zepp's Rock and Roll and Whole Lotta Love. Juliette Lewis also killed it on Aint Talkin Bout Love and Dirty Deeds. Chris Vrenna from NIN and Manson took the double drum duties with Matt on Whole Lotta Love and Dirty Deeds. Of course our long time partners McGrath and Jonesy kept the set flowing with some Sex Pistols, Bowie and Johnny Thunders as Naveen Andrews took the mic. Surreal, fun and over far too soon... Our Roxy residency is officially complete. Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated December with us. We will most certainly be doing it again.

Q&A Time?

Hi DN.
Glad you have had a great few days and done some relaxing. Always seems like you don't do much of that.
The Chronicles of Narnia remake is on TV - reminds me of reading the C.S.Lewis books. The British playwrite Harold Pinter died yesterday too. Always remember the books and films that shaped our imaginations. What were you into as a kid?
Have a blast at New Year. (I've got a friend in Atlanta, seems that it would be a good time to go visit!)
As for the mass texts - happy that they've stopped bugging you.

Does Camp Freddy rehearse their sets ?
If so, how does that go down?
If not, I believe it.
Cuz You guyz are pro's and just throw down.

What is the reference to Goodfellas and Camp Freddy ? I've seen the movie twice, but can't graps where Camp Freddy comes from there.

Thanks for all you share with us.

Happy to hear that you had a great day. Oh no, you're going to be on the East Coast on NewYr.'s Eve? BEWARE!!! You never know who'll be there to confront you abt. your 'hatred' of the 'right' coast. Ques(I think this is a good one) What do you think of the new direction Woody Allen has been taking w/ his newer movies("Match Point" & "Cassandra's Dream")? I think they're brilliantly written. Crime drama is not easy. Could fall into cliches. If you haven't seen these?....SHAME....SHAME!!! And you call yourself a fan! Give back your fan club card! Just kidding.

Sorry. I just read the post more closely. "Unreal versions" of songs by Linda Perry? That's one way of putting it. WHAT!? I'm entitled to my opinion. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Diversity makes the world turn, dear.

I think I'm being visited by the "madness" hamsters at New Year......

Did you achieve or do something in the last year which, this time last year, you would never have expected to happen?

Take care....................................SB

Hello Dave!

What was your best experience about Christmas this year?

Always,
me

Do you own any Skreddy Pedals? If so, honestly, how good is the sound? I'm thinking about ordering the Mayo one. Also, do you have any stories about working/playing with Kurt Cobain? if any...

Hi Dave,

Tuning in from New Zealand, Love Dark matter don't miss the Popcast.

What is your biggest Regret, have you ever turned something (or Someone) down and wondered what were you thinking?

Also to follow along from another question, Who is the best Actor turned Musician?

Rock On.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and a belated Merry Christmas, Dave.

Sarah-B...I think I am too scared to ask what the madness hamsters are... LOL. Hope you are doing well, hun.

Linda Perry completely, totally, fucking rocks. She has a vocal quality that is almost perfect for Zep. songs.

As a brief PSA... I have an email address attached to this name so that my FRIENDS here can email me to chat. If you think I am a "fucking cunt, and a fat whore" (Yes, I am referring to you...Ms. "I have to send you 50 emails to tell you just that") please grow up, get a job, go get laid..etc..etc...and leave me alone. Ignore me. It will do wonders for your already delicate psyche.

"The real thing about them is that if you really want to break it down, it's not about a sincere holiday wish to the receiver specifically, it's about the sender not wanting to be forgotten and taking an opportunity to let everyone know that they still exist!"

Do you think that it's possible it's a sincere holiday wish to the receiver, because they want YOU to know they still exist?

Cool to hear you had a nice Christmas holiday w/ your fam and was able to kick back and relax, because as already mentioned above, seems like you don't get enough of it due to your hectic schedule.

Questions....

1) What kind of gifts did you get for Christmas? Besides, the socks.

2) Do learning new songs/techniques come easy for you since you've been playing the guitar for so long? And if not, what's the hardest artist for you to cover?

Much love and Respect,
-Kirsten

Hi Dave, just wondering if you still have a good relationship with Anthony Kiedis?

Have u had a chance to sit down and listen to Chinese Democracy all the way through? Your thoughts on it?

Happy Holidays, Dave!

Sure wish I lived in California -- December at the Roxy looked like lotsa fun!

Q's:

1. Will you be posting Dark Matter from Dec. 24th?

2. Do you see yourself ever switching to satellite radio?

3. Does it get horrendously hot under the stage lights?

Oh yeah....

3) Were you always a fan of the RHCP before joining them (of course you had to like them enough to join the band) but what attracted you to them, because you passed up GNR right? I do know that Jane's and RHCP kind of came up together at the same time. '83 and '86...

I have a question. What should I put in my Blockbuster queue? Any films that I absolutely must see?

dave i've just been reading the latest FHM magazine(like a more modern version of playboy with more trashy articles bout male penises and less nude girls in it than hef's ha) an article bout shepard fairey's designs for album covers and designer beer...mmm i get a free complimentary paperbag for beer designed by him with the mag...pretty funny it looks like the JA poster same scrollwork and colours he's very atypical and repetitive with his style isn't he...oh i feel like you sent me a poster anyway now i have this...apparently shepard fairey is quite well known in L.A. round the scene did a smashing pumpkins cover too i think...thankyou for bringing him to my attention it's always good to see graphic arts in action the beer wrap is a lot more simplistic than what he did for you guys so feel special;)not sure how i'd feel doing my art on paperbags for beer bottles though...it gets a bit campbell soup andy warhol style are we honouring ourselves as artists or are we just prostituting the gift given by god ha!it's like one of your songs from trust no one being used for a beer infomercial would you do it for the money and the fame baby!that's the question!
love kaz...

Hey Dave, got a question I wanted an answer to for a long time!
How the heck do you think of all the crazy sounds you make on live shows and especially on recorded albums?
And I'm not talking about the usual sounds that any guitar with simple effects can do, but the really AWESOME sounds we can hear only as sounds effects, for example, in movies..
Umm I'll give you an example- the intro of Jane's Addictions' Hypersonic have really cool sounds that I couldn't even imagine!

#1 Do you think a person is ever too old to take guitar lessons? #2 Have you taken any instrument lessons... as an adult?
#3 Is there an instrument you'd like to learn to play in the new year... to challenge and entertain yourself? Please share your thoughts. Thank you. Z.
