Grace & Manners Bassist Goes the Extra Mile!
Looks like Paddy (Dan) went the extra mile! He may not know shit about guitars, but he's fuckin rad! And THAT is why I hired him! Dan's real job is playing bass in the trio Grace & Manners... Sadly, he cannot work for me on the 23rd so the G&M singer Nate a.k.a. "Wood Hair" has agreed to make a special appearance in Dan's place. Dan has another engagement that night, frolicking or cobbling somewhere. He will be missed.
Tomorrow night, I will be in Long Beach with J Mello performing at Club Sachi, 6400 PCH LBC 90803 at around 11:300pm. I can add a couple of names to my guest list so if anyone wants to come, please leave me your full name here in the comments. Mello does a set of his music and I will be joining him on 3 or 4 songs. Should be a good hang for sure.

I know your the envy of every guitarist out there. Not only do you have a smart and faithful tech you can trust but all you have to do is pay him in lucky charms.
That tattoo is da bomb!
My Mom would never buy me Lucky Charms as a kid. Because I would pick out just the marshmallow bits. I would have a breakfast of just colored marshmallow pieces and milk.
But it's ok, I worked it all out in therapy.

Listen… about the Vicodin…I have such an addicting personality that Mar has to monitor my pill intake (well narcotics... there my fav)…No but really…She has to keep them outta sight from me because I will take them like candy…I’m not ashamed to admit it…I love em…What I’m getting at…In the event you need to take narcotics again for some reason…Let a loved one whom u see everyday hang on to them…OUTTA SITE, OUTTA MIND. Just a suggestion…It works for me...(Well I don’t usually have a choice) It sucks having the dizziness, sweats and nauseas when trying to get those meds outta your system, believe me I know the feeling…lol

Wow. Still haven't listened to last week's show but this week's sounds like a doozy! Will you be getting Paddy fitted for his own little green suit? He'll be the Irish version of Angus Young. Woo-Hoo! You just want to keep hanging around him in the event that he tells you where the gold is, huh? Speaking of pain meds., I wondered what you guys did if in the event that you got hurt OR if you have to do something that most of us think as ordinary such as going to the dentist to get a tooth pulled or root canal. I mean we just take a mild pain killer but what can you guys do? I do know of something homeopathic, if you want to give it a try. It's called Hypericum. It's for any type of nerve pain. My sister took it BEFORE she went to the dentist and then some right after. She didn't have to take any of the pain meds.Couldn't hurt. Also there's Arnica gel and pills. No, you don't swallow the gel. It's topical, dear. I don't think you can take them together. The pills, I mean. You know that's why Steven Tyler went right into rehab from getting knee(or foot) sugery a few months ago. I do mean immediately after surgery. Makes sense but I don't think that would be available for everyone. You'd LOVE the weather today. Cold, damp, rainy. Still don't get why you love it so much but to each his own. Have fun at your gig. JEEEEZZZ!!!! I thought I was bad! Just STAY AWAY from the household cleaners people! Sarah....yeah type key is a little messed up. I think the solution is to compose a reply in your email section, wherever you have it. Then, cut and paste. This way you'll have it and won't have to retype it. Learned that from the Nikki Sixx's page. His was always going haywire. Oh yeah, Sarah, It's me, Furian. Had to add the Femme. Wouldn't take just the Furian part. All I couls comeup w/ on short notice. Maybe I'll alter it.

Well i was never going to comment again here, as i am trying to break my somewhat bazaar compulsion to comment here as I know nothing about rock music or anything, and why on earth I would fixate on Dave Navarro I do not know, I think it is actually, to do with having a really crap time years ago, and i was sat in this overheated hosptal waiting room with one family member diagnosed with cancer and the rest of them dysfunctioning badly upstairs, and i opened this magazine and yes there was a pic of Dave Navarro and Carmen having frigging cocktails on the beach! Wow! They are having a better time than me on that glamourous californian beach, I thought. But I was probably wrong, in fact, I was probably having a better time on the hospital waitng room. Anyway, what is this obsession with Irish at present. What on earth sort of lunatic has irish emblems tattoeed on his knuckles when he has had the good fortune to escape the country. I was talking to someone irish last night in the kebab place conicidentally, but not for long because I really could not tolerate his accent. Its all very quaint and charming for about five minutes, then it just gets tedious and then you just think hmm what the hell are they talking about and want to escape.

Actually did someone mention cough mixture, I have had many amazing unintentional experiences with that until someone pointed out it was quite potent stuff and it did matter that I swigged the whole bottle. Marvin glue is quite harmless to sniff because it is for children, and it smells really nice they should branch out into perfume. I will never comment again. PLEASE BLOCK ME! PLEASE!

Dave you're so fucking sweet to offer guest list again.
As for hypericum it's a form of St Johns Wart, it's an anti-depressant and yes it works for dentistry really well especially if you take it with arnica and aconite pills too.
Root canal hell delivered by an incompetent dentist who perforated my tooth and drilled into the jawbone a few times. Tooth was removed surgically and I'm sueing the ass off the ex dentist for negligence!
Hypericum however is like taking 'E' / ecstasy - or at least it sent me completely high. It really is quite odd stuff but does work.
Have fun tomorrow!!

I still haven't heard last night's DM, but by just reading some comments, having a root canal and then afterwards being prescribed a painkiller by the doctor after being informed it was a non-opiate is what made Anthony Kiedis relapse during OHM era according to Scar Tissue.
But if you’re like my mom who is allergic to the anesthetics (yeah, it sucks for her) and almost died after having an allergic reaction to the meds, things are a bit more difficult so you really have to be careful. Anyways, I could be way off topic, so I can't wait for the DM podcast.

Kirsten - same thing happened to me as your Mum - which is why I sat through the root canal without any anaesthetic when she drilled into the wrong place several times and wasn't able to take any painkillers afterwards either or during the serious abcesses I had as a result. Took 3 months, a bunch of doctors and different hospital tests to sort before anyone could take tooth out (too great risk) but I was tested for anaesthesia and all the carrying agents to discover exactly what caused the allergy and then it was a case of screwing my courage to the sticking place and believing that it would be ok. Which it was. There is even a painkiller I can take now. Your Mum can get tested. Medics are always very happy and weirdly excited when people show allergies to anaesthesia as true allergy to just anaesthesia itself is incredibly rare - there is always something that they can use - this also means the testing is often free as it's of use to medical research! Hope this helps. And that's how I know of hypericum, arnica and aconite pills - they don't cause any allergic reactions whatsoever.

On the subject of addiction, I feel that I have to say this:
Tiffanybean,
Many of your recent posts have struck me as a thinly-veiled cry for help.
The above post strikes me as a screaming cry for help.
The good news: You seem to have enough self-awareness to know this isn’t healthy – which is a good thing.
The bad news: You seem to be more than a little frightened by your lack of control over your compulsions. Please get some therapy for this before it gets bigger than it is.
I’d suggest for anyone struggling with addiction to get a hold of the works of John Bradshaw – the 80s/90s “inner child” guru. He kind of nails it: “The core of all addiction is toxic shame.”
There’s a “wolf in the basement,” and it’s clawing to get out, getting more and more powerful. And the more you try to clamp it down, the more powerful it gets.
Kind of poetic.

Well, Vixen, I can't exactly remember what procedures she has to actually go through now before going under the knife (she had surgery done this summer, don't remember how she was "numbed") although she told me but I forgot so I'll ask again but she has had 2 allergic reactions to anesthetics.
Once when she was having her tonsils removed and the other time when she was having some dental work done and both times her throat began closing up on her and they couldn't wake her up. She has weird allergens to medicines, so she really has to be careful but if anything pops up again, where she'll have to go under another procedure, I'll let her know about the testing thing. So, she has allergens to meds and I’m pretty much allergic to EVERYTHING outside; grass, trees, pollen, dogs, cat, etc. which sucks when Spring/Summer is in and the pollen is sky high and as a result, I have to get allergy shots ever week, which gets old really fast, but it’s a necessity according to my asthma/allergy doctors (don’t worry, insurance covers it). But it’s annoying as hell and I really don’t have time for that shit because I’m young and restless haha.
Anyways, I’m now downloading this week’s Dark Matter…

listened to the podcast of this weeks dark matter, and can say that i've never heard a better impersonationc of willy wonka in my life...haha...
for kristen and vixen,
kristen it sounds like your mom went to anaphylatic shock, which is scary as hell and as nurses we are trained to watch for like hawks- i'm glad she was okay ;) w/ all her allergies i hope she carries an epiphrine pin w/ her at all times, allergy test are easy to do and shots can be given to treat them...she might have had a reaction to morphine-lots of folks do... other NSAIDS that are non-opiates might help, but aren't as effective...
vixen, never heard of one of the homepathics you are talking about, but for arnica montana, the stuff is a godsend, but the only thing it really treats specifically is bruising and muscle pain/sports injuries, you can use the topical and oral at the same time, but lots of homepathics do lose effect if you smoke, drink caffine, or ingest peppermint of any kind straight down to your toothpaste... i ran a bodycare/homepathic first aid department in health food store in nor-cal and know a few naturopaths... for toothaches try a little clove oil (organic-like oshadi oils) applied w/ a q-tip on the tooth in question- it really helps :)
the best to all,
amy

To 'SweetMelis': I don't get your last post. If Dave is so "awesome and gracious", then why won't he pose for some pix w/ you guys after the show? If it's a quick set like you said it was then he wouldn't have to change or anything like that. I mean, he's hooked up you and Amber so much lately, can't he see how devoted you guys are? Or maybe someone's giving him bad advice. You know, 'don't go near the fans', 'they're all crazy/annoying'. Hmmmm.....it is a mystery. Maybe next time you 2 should try and say Hi beforehand, especially if you can get into one of the Roxy shows again. Keep trying! Get aggressive! You could always tackle him and pin him down. Do you know how to lasso? Stun gun? Nah....you have to get too close, unless you use the one where 2 metal prongs shoot out. Happy Hunting!

FurianFemme:
When did I say he "wouldn't pose"? it wasn't that he wasn't willing, it was that I haven't gotten the chance to ask or at least ask loud enough for him to actually hear me. He always stops to talk to his fans... The shitty music in the club when we saw him on the way out prevented him from hearing me ask. it's was situational, not because of any "bad advice".
I might suggest you try and see things in a positive light. I have experienced so much more thanks to him. I almost feel greedy wanting/asking for the photo. I have been so so lucky. and he HAS been so so gracious. i am not going to stalk him to get a picture. I respect him and his personal space so much more as a human being above and beyond being "Dave Navarro" the celebrity/rock star.

DN - gig sounds ace as usual.
Thanks Amber for sharing pics.
Amy - thanks chick but no worries I have a homeopathic doc and he knows what he's doing. Arnica taken orally for dentistry helps reduce the bruising and tissue damage with any kind of dental procedure, (root canal, extraction) works brilliantly when taken with aconite and hypericum. I just hate the frigging dentist after all this. I can't take opiates or NSAIDS, serious allergies to both, but they found something I can take, 13 years without any painkillers gone!! :)
Have a great weekend all.
