This Week - Sasha Grey

This week on Dark Matter (Indie 103.1FM 12a-2a) I have adult film star Sasha Grey in the studio. In addition to her work in the adult business, Sasha has been appearing in mainstream music videos (including Smashing Pumpkins) and has also secured a role in an upcoming Steven Soderbergh film. She also happens to be a client of The Spread Group... The management company that Larissa and I run. Be sure to tune in or listen to the live stream. I have been assured that the phones will be working at the studio so feel free to hit us with any questions. Also, I have a couple of the Shepard Fairey/Jane's Addiction posters signed by Shepard that I will be giving away during the broadcast.

Thursday night at Lucky Strike Lanes, 6801 Hollywood Blvd, I am co-hosting the VH1 Bowling For Autism event with my friends from Camp Freddy. I have a close family member who is autistic, some would argue it's me haha, so this effort is very close to my heart. Tickets are $150.00 and are available by going to vh1classicbowloff.com or by calling 310-444-0100.

Friday night I will be in Mexico City performing with my pals DJ Skribble, DJ Slynkee and J Mello.

Expo Rock Show
Nov. 13 thru 16th, 2008 (Dave Navarro/Skribble performance Nov. 14th @ 10:30pm)

Mexico city DF, Mexico

In Mexico City the only phrases you need to know is
puedo yo tener el agua en una botella por favor and ¡ningún hielo!

Also we'll need pictures of the bowling shoes. It's all about the shoes, not the score....

Hey you…its time already…”Bowling for Autism”. Do you know if the event will be broadcasted on VH1 at a later time or better yet live? Autism is also close to our hearts too for one of our dear friends son was recently diagnosed with PDD Pervasive Developmental Disorder, which is one of many spectrums of Autism. You know it’s a scary thing to deal with. I remember the heart wrenching stories she would tell Mar and I about her son lashing out and wanting to hurt the people around him. Such as calmly taking a knife and walking up to her telling her he was going to stick the knife in her chest, or the severe tantrums at the grocery store where she had to leave everything in the grocery basket and carry him outta the store kicking and screaming. People staring not knowing if she just abusing her son or if he is just a bratty kid. What do you do? The scariest thing for her was not knowing why and what caused this disorder. Was it her fault was it something she did or did not do? I’m sure this event will be a huge success.

Dude did I already tell you all this story..if so…ooops

Is OCD another spectrum of Autism because if it is…then yep you and Mar will fit right in…See (oh she gonna kill me) Everything has a place and you better put it back the way it is because well you know…if she’s eating M & M’s, its by color…Chips well she eats all the broken ones first and saves the whole ones for last and if she sees something that is peeling such as paint on a door or better yet paint on the bleachers at a ball game she will sit there and finish peeling off the paint then freaks because her hands are dirty…lmao (I’m gonna get in trouble….lol)

Can’t wait for Dark Matter this week…but I already said that 100 times…lol Remember Yoli and Margaret and save us a poster fucker face…:)

Mexico City? What about Texas sir? Come back to Texas, hell just come to visit..lol

Hopefully we will be chatting with you on Wednesday, Have fun on Thursday and a safe trip on Friday…. God Bless Pa.

The temptation of Dark Matter...I would be awake and coherent (well sort of) but.............if I rang from work, I'd get laughed at by my colleagues and sacked by my bosses :(

Good luck with everything this week and take care everyone................SB

Where is the link for the live stream of Dark Matter? You really got me with a promise of one of those Shepard Fairey/Jane's Addiction posters. It's on tomorrow night right? Sorry I'm getting senile, and have a difficult time remembering times and dates!

Well, now I see the link to Dark Matter when I go to the main page. Was it there before, and I just missed it, or did you just add it Dave? Either way, I'm glad I found it...xoxo

I wish I could catch Dark Matter live and try to call in, but I can't... I have to get up for school at 5 in the morning, and since I'm on the east coast, Dark Matter doesn't come on until 3, so then it'd be 3-5 for me, which I could easily do if I didn't have somewhere to go in the morning but that isn't the case... oh well. Still kickass that you're giving away those Jane's La Cita posters....

Anyways, it's always good whenever you participate in a fundraiser for a good cause and I wish you guys the best of luck with it, hopefully you guys will be able to raise a good amount of cash and inform those who aren't as informed about autism.

Dark Matter podcast... loved the "playlist." Obviously, I can't recall those 70's commercials and so forth, but my mom had a good laugh with it.... something she needs since my grandmother passed away this week... "I'm a Pepper, she's a pepper, he's a pepper, we're a pepper!" A childhood memory for her... the darkest song on the whole playlist though was the Brady Bunch and I did know that one thanks to re-runs Nick used to do.

Hey dave,
Missed the show again working too hard i was. damn
I was reading in your last blog that you where in vegas, man how cool is that place???? Its like another world of its own.
I was there in the early 90's on holidays and saw Belinda carlisle singing in the main street (little black book if i remember correctly).
I walked right up to her and asked her for her autograph and she was so nice. "sure" she says and asked me where i was from blah blah. Man, Again soon will i return for a great time..
I think i remember you saying something to the effect of " if you don't leave vegas wanting to kill yourself, You've not had a good time......." Bring it on...
Love and stuff S.

Dave,

I know that autism is a matter close to you - I have a niece that has a form of autism also. It is more rampant and diverse than many know.... a former co-worker's child has it - but they don't want to use that word, instead they label it sensory deprivation.... I wish you well in your cause.... any word if you will do an auction on your TV show for the cause? I know several of us would be willing to bid for the cause....

Good Morning guys, Hope everyone is doing great.

Angel...What a great idea to have an auction on Spread TV benefiting Autism....We'll bid. DAAAAVE?

Hola. Thx so much for podcasting Dark Matter! I enjoyed the eclectic tunes and banter (it's a lot like what runs though my head on a regular basis, lol). J. Mello's stories were so heartbreaking, yet ultimately inspiring. What a strong person.

I hope all of you have fun bouncing around, bowling, and getting your groove on over the next few days. Stay safe and rock on!

Love to all,

I think my question got lost in all the election excitement last week, so I'll ask again: Does anyone have any live musical entertainment suggestions for next Monday or Tuesday night in LA? I'll be in the Century City area.

Also, Dave, thanks for doing the autism bowling benefit. I have a young relative with it too. Wish I could be there tomorrow. I suggest you auction off your shoes. It is all about the shoes... and a good cause.

Peace

I'm so glad to hear you've been protesting against the passing of Prop 8. My son Jason was gay. He had a difficult time accepting himself, and was constantly ridiculed in high school. Unfortunately it led him to using drugs, which ultimately destroyed a brilliant, creative, and loving young man.

YoliR & Margaret, thank you for your condolences. You are so fortunate to have such a loving and long lasting relationship. I wish Jason could have found that kind of love and acceptance in his lifetime.
