Thanksgiving
JA Cafe: Lemme see what I can do for you! Go to my MySpace page and send me a message with your full name and address! Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow! I talked about this last year and it has just gotten worse! Mass texting on holidays such as this. Kind of takes all the personal love and charm out of the holiday, don't you think? Especially when you get the well wishes from people you haven't spoken to in years and you know that you just happen to be in their phone. I actually created a reply that reads "Auto Mass Text Response: Same to you!" Either way, here is my mass communication to you guys! Happy Thanksgiving!!! HAHA... At least you came here to read it and I didn't shove it down your throats. I do hope you have a beautiful day. I am having two Thanksgivings today and tonight. First I roll over to Dad's and see my family and watch the lovable dysfunction take place. In fact, I'll probably add to it quite a bit. It's not a true Thanksgiving without a strong dose of family dysfunction. The good news is that we love our dysfunction over at my place. We accept each other for who we are and that is, oddly enough, one of the things I am grateful for this year. Johnny and I even try our best to crank it up a notch to get reactions out of family members but they are by now, so numb and calloused by our completely inappropriate behavior that it is usually met with very little notice... As if we were washing dishes. (Actually, if we washed a dish... People might start to worry! Better not cause any alarm today, you know, for their sake.) After Dad's I am going over to Todd's family's home to add to the chaos going on over there. What am I thankful for today? Mainly my friends and family and the people I work with... Larissa and Rick, The Newman Family, The Jane's team, The Camp Freddy Team, Skribble and Mello... The people who keep me grounded and inspire me creatively!
The new Dark Matter from last night should be up soon. Congratulations to all the winners last night including Jo, Danielle and Kurt. See you guys at upcoming shows. BTW: I spoke to Dan, my tech, from Grace and Manners last night during the radio show. He said he would answer some gear related questions in a new "Ask Dan" section of this blog. Let's not overwhelm him... I'll start by submitting 5 questions.

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you have a wonderful day, family plans sound warm. Funny how dsyfunction gets re-labelled when tolerated with love and the rosy glow that growing older brings. We have that here too (every holiday) lol even if we don't have TG! And I remember the post last year re the mass text outbreak, your text reply this time really made me laugh. Hope you got some decent apologies!
Love to all.

I typed a comment and then got thrown out of typekey when I tried to post it, hence the test..
Just wanted to say...
I don't get mass texts because nobody cares about me but I'm a crabby old bitch so I'm not that bothered!!
Lucky you with embracing your family dysfunction! My family all got stressed out and drunk on sherry, then gave each other death looks over the turkey at family get-togethers. As a kid I just wanted to hide or run away - perhaps why I'm a crabby old bitch.
I won't be celebrating over in Blighty, but all you guys have a great time xxx...............SB
PS. I never tried to win any posters or such because I assumed anyone overseas wouldn't be eligible. Am I wrong?

Hey Dave,
Happy Thanksgiving! For a question for Dan, I'm sure a lot of people would like to know, what does Dave's pedal board consist of?

Already sent you a mass comment on MySpace but I'll say it again, Happy Thanksgiving Dave.
I always say all families are dysfunctional; it wouldn't be family if it wasn't... love it and embrace it. My family is HUGE; my great-grandparents had 13 kids, and it seems like having a bunch of kids runs in my family to so it's ALWAYS something else haha. It's cool though because we're all "young adults" now and we tend to get into a fun bit of trouble.
Example, one of my cousins from Baltimore always has to talk shit... she thinks she's sooo hood because where she's from and she talks nothing but pure shit but me being the nice one... I decided to deal with it by picking her up. By the end of the night though, all of my cousins were fed up with her so we threw her out of the car in front of the wrong hotel that we thought she was staying at... she was like "this isn't even my hotel," and we told her it was now and we left. It was even more funny because she left her phone in the car and we decided to run up her minutes and everything but man didn't we get into some shit....... oh well, good times :p.
Love having a dysfunctional family at times...
Much Love and Respect,
-Kirsten

Hey Dave,
I tried calling Dark Matter today from the UK to see if i could win one of the posters (just before i went college missed the bus an a bit of english lit. because of it) but i'd always get a message saying "say your name blahblahblah" and i did everything it said and it would just go back to the start again, which was so annoying .i've worked up a huge phone bill and i dunno what you can do but it was really annoying and i know Jane's won't be coming to England any time soon and your my favorite band (although hopefully one day i'll be able to see you live) it was just really annoying kept calling when it decided to do that...
P.S Happy Thanksgiving

I would have loved one of those posters but but by rights they belong to true followers of your band! I wil never forget you doing a blog about thanksgiving and you told this "beautifully touching" story about how one thanksgiving you lied and nicked off halfway through to get some heroin, and how your dad now gave thanks each thanksgiving with a tender smile that you did not do that anymore! I know it is touching but also amusing in a way. I could see this scene in some black comedy film.

Dave, you dont have thanks for your fans? are you kidding me!!!? well, perhaps you made a small mistake, but unfortuantely for you, the only way you can make it up to us is to bring Janes to the upper east coast...there we will accept you apology! :]

Happy thanksgiving dude! Many are greatful for the radness of DN and I'll throw my hat in that ring... If I had a hat... Or a turkey head, even. lol :)
This new 6767 gear trip with Dan sounds cool. Here's some from me to choose from. ~
Does DN's rig consist of two Marshall JCM 900's for the purpose of running one for gain/distortion sounds and another for clean tones?
If so is this due to the Marshall JCM 900 having only one set of tone controls which is shared by both channels, thus using two seperate heads allows for varied settings to be attained for gain and clean tones?
What system do you use to toggle between the heads?
What tube compliment is employed in these amps and do you use different tubes for each, are they biased differently?
In Dave's set-up, are the tubes biased hot, cold or right down the middle?
Can you compare some advantages and disadvantages that exist between a self contained head or combo amp, such as Dave's amps, versus a seperate pre and power amp set-up?
Dan, how does your personal rig compare with that of Dave?
What is up with that white Ibanez Dave played (in the pic that accompanies the El Cid post)? I thought I saw a PRS tremolo on that instrument, can you tell us about that Guitar?
I think I'll just stop now... Hahaha!

HI all! We just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all. We are thankful for the wonderful people that surround me in my life. We are thankful that we have this wonderful blog that we can share thoughts with people whom live much different lives, but all come together for our common love, DN. I am never disappointed in my 6767 family. No matter the different opinions that we may have we still have that common ground. On any day I can come to 67 and Laugh my ass off or get pissed or even say OMG she didn’t go there. So thank you 67 Family I love you all very much thanks for making our lives just a bit more exciting! God bless all!
Dave, If there wasn’t dysfunction in our family I wouldn’t feel normal, whatever normal is.
Well I got a whole 3 hours sleep after hearing Dark Matter before I started cooking. So I am full and beat. So time for more turkey and then the turkey coma! Love ya!
XOXOXO

And Yoli (who slept while I cooked lol)

Hi Dave, happy Thanksgiving dude!
Hey great idea to get Dan to answer some gear questions -- I know you hate to do it, but it's been a couple years and us gear junkies need to stay up to date ;-)
Spencer covers a lot of ground...but in relation to your amp setup, I notice sometimes you have one of the 4x12's pointed backwards -- what's the point of that? Also are you still using the JCM 900's sometimes I have squinted really hard at my computer screen and they look like JCM 2000's.

Happy Thanksgiving, Dave! Even though I'm a day late. I'm definitely more than feeling the effects of over eating, but I'd only feel bad about it if it didn't taste so damn good. Enjoy your weekend!!

This blog is like a dysfunctional family. I hate coming here sometimes, but I still come. And I am the attention seeking socially retarded child who everyone wants to lock in the bathroom by mistake..for ever! They tried that actually...my family...but I got out and complained to social services. But as they say, there is a thin line between hate... and love. Me, I don't agree. I say there is a thin line between hate and hiring a hitman. But hey.. if I got hit by a hitman at least I'd be getting some attention! And can you imagine the JOY of bragging about that in heaven? "how did you die?" "Oh well, I had congestive heart failure and died on my desk at work. You?" "Well.. I got garrotted then cemented by a hitman!" I say Heaven, but obviously if Dave Navarro goes to hell, I would jump straight down down there, so I could continue to stalk him...into eternity. Only Jking!!! Haa.

Hola DN- I am sure the mass texts are pretty annoying. Since I don't text......I don't have to worry:)
At least you know us crazy fans are always here and not just on certain holidays huh?
Hope you had fun with the families and ate lots o potatoes!
I had a super time listening to your show! I wish I had every THU off so I could stay up late and not have to worry about working in the early AM. I also had a funny time with the Asylum inmates -
Thanx again- con much amore, Db
