Dave, If this is indeed true, PLEASE don't fuck with us!! Please let us know when tickets are available so we can go...that article made it sound like it's gonna be unannounced or some shit...I really, really hope that's not true. That would be a serious bummer. At least let us know on here! Even if its only in the comments! lol

Good show!!! First off, I would like to recommend you "Bastards Of The Party," which is a gang documentary film directed by Cle Sloan. No, I haven't seen Made in America yet, but I'll be watching it wherever/whenever I can or come across it because I've always been a big documentary fan and it looks like something I'll love and I also noticed that Made in America used some of the same footage (opening) that was in Bastards Of The Party...

Gangs, really is a serious topic. For a few years, I thought I was hood as shit and no one could fuck with me... I'd act hard but I was always soft as dough in the inside but I wouldn't show it. No one on here knows me, so they can’t speak, but those who do know me personally, they'd probably find that funny as hell but I'm not kidding. Ironically, I was never raised in the "hood," but I was one of those kids who looked up to the rappers on TV and admired everything that they did and believed they spoke the truth... come to realize, that shit you see in music video's is all fake but my point is, you don’t have to be in the hood to get into gangs or gang-banging but it’s about who you surround yourself with and your surroundings.

One of my sister's friends that I was also cool with (used to play football with him all the time), he always hanged out with the wrong crowd. His dad was never there and his mom never did support anything he did and she claimed she didn't want him so he was always founding a place to stay every other night and was on the streets. The last night I saw him he had came over to give something to my sister and he was joking around about the next time he seen me he was going to teach me how to fight because I was tough and so forth. A couple of days later, Carter got into a fight with this one dude over something I'll never know, but the dude came back and ended up shooting Carter 6 times, twice in the head. Carter was one of those guys you’d think nothing could hurt him; of course no one is invincible but I looked at Carter as one of those guys who could always take whatever was heading his way but that wasn’t the case. Carter didn't die right away, he was still alive, even after being shot twice in the head, but the ambulance's taking their precious time, it took them about 25min. to get to the scene (because it was a nice neighborhood) so about time he got to the hospital... he was gone.

That woke me and my sister up… Carter was only 16. I stopped being so close-minded after a few occurrences and made some changes and I’m now “that smart nigga” in school who cares so much and acts white because well, I make good grades and don’t hang around with that crowd anymore but anyways I wrote a long ass blog on a similar subject about a year ago, so it’s a big deal for me but I in short, I just wanted to say good show. I wish Skipp the best of luck…

First, excellent excellent segment!
A lot of people think gangs and the violence is only systemic to urban areas like LA, Miami or NYC/Bronx/Brooklyn but it's also found in suburban areas like here on Long Island. Crips, Bloods and the hispanic gangs like the Latin Kings and MS13 are very prevalent in certain communities that dot within a moderately wealthy suburb of NYC. There was a East Coast version of Skip (former gang member who became a community activist to help other gang members get out of the life) but sadly he too was gunned down by a rival gang who didn't like what he was doing.
I'm going to have to check out "Made in America".

Second and this is probably a question for when you take any-when you mentioned that Todd and yourself were in the process of gathering archive material are you finally trying to get the "photobook exhibit" together?? 'cause we're still waiting ;-)

And lastly about "hello....housekeeping"...sounds to me the housekeeper just doesn't want to walk in to any "surprises" on a Wed if you know what I mean ;-) You said "One big room". It would be hard to hide any naked people.

hey i have the dvd dogtown and z-boys in my hand now just love the movie they did with heath ledger and stacy peralta...we have ghettos in australia and plenty of multicultural gangs...i think the skating and the surfing keeps guys occupied and less prone to gang violence...those that just hang the streets well the devil makes good use of idle hands...hey i got capsicum spray in my eyes rescuing a dog too from a cop...the police have me framed up as a gun toting psycho myself:)paperwork from them saying had firearms and had threatened a neighbour all just fabricated for policing purposes...the cops are just as corrupt as the gangs...i think the cops are gang bangers...anyway my son is skating a halfpipe this weekend up the river on a big boyz sk8camp... taught him to not be vulnerable to peer group pressure and to be be a pacifist

Very interesting interview. It is good that the filmaker makes us aware of this sad situation and has a person to guide him through. I also like the fact that you are exploring different problems in your guests.

Late sleeper too? Thinking of that since you were annoyed by the housekeeper. I have an early job and kids, but whenever I get the chance....hit the snoooze. Not anything like the leafblowers tho:)

Have a great weekend, Besos,

EARLY HAPPY BIRTHDAY BELLA LINDA:)

it's a male bonding thing for guys with no decent rolemodels...a gang...it gives them a sense of identity and belonging it makes them feel safety in numbers...often because they were abused as children...
i saw an asian lady who worked for CNN go into a US penitentiary to interview MS13 members...heavy dudes with big ass tatts and the kind of attitude that could kill with a glance...spanish is the loving tongue bob dylan wrote beautiful songs for hispanics...boots of spanish leather...

Dave! Have you heard the news? MADONNA is on the market again. Her and Guy Ritchie are divorcing, apparantly because he was unsympathetic about her falling off a horse three years ago. Men. She is incredible, several broken bones, including collar but she got back on that stage again. Anyway she is over English men because she thinks they are retarded....she wants an AMERICAN one again now because they are more "emotionally sophisticated". Get on that phone and ask her out! They don't come more emotionally sophisticated than you! I think you would make an....ummmm...INTERESTING pair!!!! I think it would be fun! Shes very into yoga, very flexible i imagine.

Hi Dave!

3 little questions, but i doubt you will read 'em...

1) We live in a world where everything is business, business and business. We are told of the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. But what do you think of electro magnetic "waves" that are surrounding us? I mean wireless technology, handies and all that stuff... it's like in some countries it's not dangerous for the people, and in other VERY RARE countries (where the government cares about the people), this technology can kill us. What do you think of this shitty technology that kills and gives cancer to our babies?

2) I'm lookin' for a J's A. live broadcasted on mtv 3 or 4 years ago. Like a 30 mins live, that i just loved!!! And I can't find it, on peer to peer's or on anything. Do you see what gig it is?

3) Just tell us you here us, Belgian fans! :p

Thanx in advance and... take care!

Well, Madonna is taken apparantly by someone else. I don't understand why the papers in England are so hostile to her, she is incredible. What exactly did she do wrong apart from working hard being very successful and getting a couple of divorces.

:(
I wish I had time to watch the Spreads, I am seriously missing out...on everything. Thanks for answering my question, it cheered me up!!!, though the political mud-slinging later on in the comments was depressing.

Some day my personal shit will end...or I'll just go nuts and then keep up in the 'secure' hospital...actually, not a bad plan.

Take care.....................................SB

Have u contacted Madonna yet? Not one to gossip, or take any notice of the rubbish they write in the papers, but apparantly her and guy ritchie did not have sex for eighteen months. Well, I'm sure there are plenty out there up for the challenge, but apparantly she has a lover who has bought a penthouse next door. I'm sure she would still go out on a date with you though Dave, your wild sexual prowess, is bound to be quite a legend in female celebrity circles. SB personal shit never ends really, although I hope yours gets better, but secure hospitals are not all bad, I speak from experience. Ha. For some reason that creepy scene from the ring of the girl in hospital now comes to mind..... aaaaaaaaa, there is a fly, a fly crawling inside the computer screen....its buzzing...zzzzzzzzzz

i'm going to have to imbed this one...oh yeah i'm referring to the clip;)but imbedding you dave would be fun;)vans shoes are cool we have a 'globe' sticker from the sk8shoe company on our backdoor it reminds my family we live on one...these problems skipp talks about are global not local...resources of the globe are being allocated to areas that are wasteful...we live in a world of abundance but like guns and roses sang we feed the rich to bury the poor...it's not a skin colour or racial denomination that is being crucified here plenty of caucasians falling by the wayside...you know it says in the bible if you teach a child while it is young in the manner of righteousness it will come back to it in adulthood even if it strays...it's the strong foundation when the winds are changing shift that bob dylan sang...compassion rather than crucifixion ...i do love you in those denim jeans are we kickin it?ha course we are i have a matching singlet on today thank god we are so attuned xox
