ELA & 6-7
(The girl they sent down was very sweet and was just doing her job) Thank you everybody for the Birthday wishes on 6767 and on MySpace! My day was spent down at the Convention Center for EroticaLA as you know. Todd and I taped a few segments for an upcoming SpreadTV episode and I also took part in a tattoo contest where I acted as a judge. I also hung out at the Teravision booth for a while signing DVD covers and meeting the people. Overall we had a great day but when I sat down to speak to E!, it wasn't my shining moment! I would go so far as to say I was a little bitch and probably came across that way. My apologies to E! and the crew that came down to speak to me. I guess you can't always be "on"! I spoke to them briefly about how it seems that the media and blogs and tabloids have watered down the whole celebrity coverage thing to the point where there is no more mystique or magic when it comes to artists and their crafts. By covering the entertainment industry many outlets are also kind of ruining it. Who gives a fuck what Tom Cruise believes? I like the guy's movies. I dunno, I just remember a time before all of this when it was legitimately exciting when a picture or an album was released and the artist's personal life didn't over shadow the work. "Nevermind the film that so and so spent a year working on... Here he is at a supermarket with so and so... Are they sleeping together?" Ughhhh! Who cares?! I suppose that when I sat down to talk to E! I should have known better and it is my fault for expecting something else, so in this case I am to blame. To say that I became a little snappy would be an understatement. The girl they sent down was very sweet and was just doing her job. She had questions written down and even asked me about something I had typed here on my blog. Obviously she had done some research. Plus, even I am sometimes into that 'least common denominator' type of stuff... I just wasn't at the moment so if anyone has given out mixed signals it's me! HAHA

Dave,
To doubt that anything that has happened is to doubt the very power that makes this all happen.
Fuck blame and fuck guilt. They don't work anyway.
Few are blessed with or care to earn the privilege of The Inner Sight. Keep on observing, working, loving, and rocking. You nor anyone else will ever be a picture in the mind of how it ought to be. What is is what is, and that's where the value is. Always changing, always now...the eternal moment of creation.

Oh no...but then again, nothing wrong with being "a little bitch" at times! I am quite frequently.
Will have to check E! out tonight to see if it's on.
Still giggling over the "a little bitch" comment! Bit gay Dave... bit gay! j/k
Wishing you and all a awesome week

You don't know how bad I want to pull a "Navarroism" right now and say something along the lines of, "Navarro beating himself up over an E! Interview gone bad and calling HIMSELF a little bitch on his blog, that's so fucking hot," but I'm not because I see how upset you may be right now...
Honestly, don't blame yourself for not being "on" that one interview because you can't always be "on," no one can always can be on because we're HUMANS! Shit happens. Now, it's easy for me to say when it doesn’t involve me because whenever I get an F on an Algebra II test for example, I want to beat myself up for not studying and not being "on." However, you being man enough to admit that you made a mistake and apologizing is well, great! I see where you're coming from though... the media overshadowing an artist's work, by putting their personal life out there for everyone to comment on, it’s true.
Anyways, I hope you didn't carry that E! Interview on your mind all day yesterday on your birthday and I hope you had a wonderful birthday! And yeah… you can take some words of wisdom from a 16 year-old haha! :-p

Btw, I loved this week's Camp Freddy Radio w/ Sorum. It's funny how you mentioned how you're always watching the news and MSNBC, because I'm always watching MSNBC these days it seems, whether it's between regular news, "Locked Up," or "To Catch a Predator." I also recall that episode when that man got busted twice in less than 24 hours, I was laughing my ass off when that happen but at the same time I was like DAMN, this guy really has a problem. Chris Hansen was like "I've been in television for 24 years and it's very seldom that I'm lost for words" and Mr. Pedo was like, "I JUST CAME TO GET SOMETHING TO EAT!!!" No, Mr. Pedo I think you went to McDonalds looking for little boys on the menu, not food. Gosh, I get so many good quotes from that show..
Anyways it isn't a joke though because there was actually this grown man who was idk, in his 30's and he was trying to talk to me on Myspace and he kept on sending me messages after messages saying creepy/inappropriate shit and I thought he would catch on since I wasn't replying that I wasn't going to talk to him but eventually I had to block him. If only Chris Hansen was there…

Glad your day overall was great.
Reading this I wondered what you expected from E! as opposed to what you got - doubt it was all down to you honey and so what no one is perfectly affable, approachable and in the mood all the time, you or anyone else. Sounds like you had PMS :) You were at work and it was your birthday. Fuck it DN, forget it. You're sweet to say sorry / you feel bad.
And yep, I agree with you, the magic and the sparkle melts when we peel away that outer shell of celebrity. Part of the allure is the myth surrounding the artists, there's a dreamlike element and wishfulness too - it seperates 'them' from 'us' and makes them (and their output) special I guess. In movies theirs are the faces on the BIG SCREEN. Something we can't reach - that's outside of us. And with music, didn't you used to love the exhileration after all that waiting for an album to be released when you finally had it in your grasp - and yeah, nowadays that thrill has almost totally gone and in most magazines / on the internet the general focus is personal life - you have to go to music forums / sites / band orientated stuff to really hear about the music. People are becoming better known for who they're sleeping with than their current project. Ah well.
Glad you do what you do - thank you DN.
Have a GREAT week.

Isn't everyone allowed to be a little bitch on their Birthday?
Besides, you have a point. Back in the day what did we have? The National Enquirer? Now there's a dozen or so gossip rags at the checkout counter. Boring.

Awesome! Props for promptly admitting you were snappy...most people wouldn't have that awareness.
Now, hop on the next plane to somewhere chill and relaxing and take a little breather. Sounds like a little vacation is in order. Maybe the Jersey Shore ;)

I kinda LIKE the snippy Navarro sometimes, it's funny and shows another side--but I wouldn't want to be in the line of fire for the Wrath of Navarro...
Hope you had a great birthday. Thanks for all the great memories in May, CF on two coasts in two weeks is too much fun--it was the best May EVER!

Hello - Glad you had a nice b-day weekend, in spite of some hiccups. Not having seen the E! piece, it's hard to say how 'bitchy' you were. But it takes a big person to admit to having an "off" moment. On the bright side, it sounds like you were able to voice your strong opinions and shake things up a bit.
It's gotta be interesting for you, being on both sides of the fence. On one hand, you're there at the convention playing host, covering the events for your own entertainment-related show. Meanwhile, E! is there interviewing YOU. It's kinda funny. Everyone's doing their job, their thing. I'm sure in some ways, that makes you more sensitive to everything.
An interesting question would be: Have any of your subjects ever gotten annoyed at you for interviewing them? How do you handle it when THEY get bitchy? (Then again, I guess at a place like EroticaLA, everyone is pretty 'friendly', and it's a kind of 'comfort zone' for all...)
Anyhoo, it's clear you're still kinda irked by all the gossip stuff. Sorry to hear that. Speaking as a member of the general public, I can honestly say that none of it matters. Personally, if I think someone is talented, and their music/acting/art/whatever moves me emotionally, I could care less what they do on their free time or what they believe in. (As long as they don't blatantly hurt or mislead others... that's where I draw the line.) After all, I don't have to live with them! I think most people feel that way.
Wishing you a great, relaxing rest-of-the-week!

Hey you…just read the blog and couldn’t help but smile... not your shining moment huh…How funny. Its okay Mr. Navarro… you have the right not to be “on” especially on your birthday. It was your day to act like a little bitch if you wanted to, although it was nice of you to give an apology.
Received a google alert titled “Nancy Sinatra Continues To Fight For Musician's Rights” and here is a part of what it read:
On Wednesday, Nancy is to join stars including rocker Dave Navarro and hip-hop group the Sugarhill Gang, to speak at a congressional hearing in Washington D.C. on behalf of the MusicFirst coalition.
Good for you sir…is this something that will be recorded? Would love to see what was said…GOOD LUCK! Have a great week! Lotsa luck your way and God Bless………Yoli

You're probably feeling guilty because you took it out on someone who was doing their job and didn't mean it personally. Probably felt good at the time...
Shame you had a bitcheroo on your birthday, hope it wasn't spoilt too much.
Re the celeb stuff in magazines, there are a lot of idiots out there who really want to see some celeb's unshaven armpit, sweaty cleavage or bra strap, however I find it sad that there is an audience for that shit that encourages the rag mags to actually print those brainless photos - or print those neanderthal comments. I would say "who gives a shit?" but I know that shit sells magazines. I have to admit however that I am interested in who's dating who! But I am also curious about nobodies regarding that so maybe I'm just nosey!!
I'm probably gonna miss the E thing so this is one person who won't see your bitch moment!!
Happy Monday..................................SB

Re: The news about going to Washington. Very cool... best of luck!
I'd like to clarify something about gossip. Of course it can be fun. Of course we care to some extent about what others do, especially if those other people are talented, brilliant, and/or lead seemingly fascinating lives. I'm not above that. We all want to know what makes great or interesting people "tick". That's what drives the gossip industry, as it has for many decades. (There's really nothing new here.) But I don't pass judgement based on what I might see here, on other sites, on E!, or in magazines. If anything, it's just exposure; a little reminder that the 'gossipee' exists.
At the end of the day, if someone is talented and productive, their body of work will stand long after the pages of gossip float away in the breeze.
Love to all,

I know what you mean. I loved JFK, and back then, there wasn't much talk about his infidelities. Now, God forbid your pastor says something controversial, it's breaking news on every station!!

;)never mind the bollocks...haha sex pistols album cover i saw this morning sums it up eh!...i mean celebrity psycho dysfunctionalities have fascinated us for decades their sex lives intrigued us why? god only knows i myself get into way more trouble than lindsay lohan paris hilton nicole richie and anna nicole smith with a lot less financial resources to pull me out of it and have probably had a more interesting diverse sex life:)than the lot of them...hallelujah hallelujah!!!but still we like to know that tom cruise is really a kid who had shocking teeth as a child grew up poor with a raging case of ambition and likes to pull rank spiritually as a scientologist freak;)with a polygamistic lifestyle adopted children floating around...it's too absurd it's mission impossible to relate it to a normal family so it just makes the as you call them''massses'' feel they are not alone if they have a low sperm count when they read this shit it validates the world's insecurities...celebs are a barometer of society you should be proud you are one of the more sane ones ...ones artistic endeavours should stand alone without overlays from personal lives but i love knowing paul gauguin caught syphilis painting all those young girls in tahiti centuries ago...art has is and always will be controversial why else vdid prince do that song ...''controversy''gotta love it...
happy 41st year...get out and make a few ripples don't stay in the safe zone:)xxoo

Hola! Just got through listening to your Bday CFR. HILARIOUS! I got some real insight on you. I am not sure if you are going to post a link. If not it is on billymorrison.net.
MSNBC huh? I just watch Chris Matthews put on a cowboy hat tonight and say he rode horses in ND. Luv that network and all the political stuff!
When you have that Obama-pajama party can you get me a VIP ticket;) Thanx for the entertaining CFR!
This is how you felt after that E interview:
http://www.sadtrombone.com/
DO NOT sweat the small stuff!!
and this is your humor :)
If you can't drink and drive, why do you need a driver's license to buy liquor, and why do bars have parking lots?
If you dive into a pool of dry ice, can you swim without getting wet?
If you got into a taxi and he started driving backwards, would the driver end up owing you money?
If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?
If you have a friend who works for the Psychic Friends Network, should you plan a surprise birthday party for them?

Hey, Happy belated Birthday!!! I thought about you this weekend because I live in San Antonio and Girl In A Coma had a show at home here. I got to thinking, you should come visit and let's take in a show. I've heard nothing but great things about them and have yet to see them. Have a great week.

A belated congrats. on your 41st,Dave!
Sinatra tried to get musicians to organize a
number of years ago, but reportedly gave up..
"you know musicians..." I'm a hundred years
older than you! I was rocked to sleep by the
music of Sinatra (good Italian household) and
Duke Ellington. I remember that some of the
"early" artists never collected a cent in
royalties for their work; the industry and
management prospered, but many of the artists
saw little prosperity. Unfair, unfair! Some
might argue that it is difficult to assign a
numeric value to creativity, but bottom line:
You gotta eat!
So, you "lost it" just a little during a recent
interview. Not the end of the world. Even we
in the "regular" world get a little tired of
smiling and being politically correct all the
time. I have to bite my tongue (sarcastic
critter) about ten times a day!!
Rant, rave and give 'em hell if you get to DC!
much love, xxa.wolf

Going to DC to speak before Congress on the behalf of music/musicians.... dammit I wish I could see this! This is the PERFECT opportunity for you to let your voice be heard and if anyone can tell it like it is, then it's you. I've been blasting Rage all day and all I gotta say is... WE GOTTA TAKE THE POWER BACK!! Artists/musicians in this case...

That's the single most hypocritical post I've read from you Dave.
You made an entire series about your personal life including a colonic, if anything is going to remove the mystery of a person then seeing their sh!t flowing out of them will probably do it.
Come on. you have been making an entire living from being open and accessible as have many others.
The only way to stay mysterious is to stop talking. Of course then you have to tolerate all of the things the media will make up about you.
If you really don't care then it's not a problem.
I'm highly amused that you of all people would have a rant like that about this subject.
