SpreadTV

(Click here for the Camp Freddy E Card!)

Wow! Check out this review on SpreadTV from The American Chronicle. Thanx Andrew Durham!

If you haven't caught "Dave Navarro's Spread" on Mania TV, you have to. I normally hate video talk shows, but this guy is a total natural. AND, like me, he's a musician who can actually form sentences. Dave Navarro should be on late night television, certainly more so than Conan Freakin O'Brien.

Navarro's ease with talking with people is refreshingly free from the smarmy dog crap from every single talk show host from Matt Lauer on up (and there's nowhere to go but "up" from Lauer). His willingness to entertain all ideas and lifestyles is amazing as it rolls off his back. He is genuine, seemingly, and is not a part of the Holly network. The small audience environment is great for this intimate show and I cannot imagine that it should change with a different venue.

I saw it for the first time last night from a link to a particular show. I was totally struck with the minimalist beauty of the show and the way Navarro completely focuses on his guests, as if there's nothing else happening in the world. If only the so-called "best of the best" could be that way. This guy should be moderating the presidential debates. But, if he is as cool as he seems to be, he would think it was just too funny. In fact, Navarro goes at things with such a child-like wonder that it draws you into his attention, not just your own. That is so missing from traditional television. There is a complete absence in Navarro's show of false bravado, or sardonic pseudo-wisdom.

Folks, no matter what your political, philosophical, sexual, or horticultural beliefs are, you should tune in to Dave Navarro's Spread on Mania TV, which is on www.maniatv.com. You won't be disappointed.

What an AWESOME review. I'm sure you are thrilled to finally be getting a bit of the recognition you deserve!

To answer a question from the comments on the previous entry:

Luna...Honesty, Honesty, HONESTY!!! Why can't she tell her hubby that she wants her first time with a woman to be alone? The act itself may or may not live up to her fantasy, but feeling of guilt will certainly NOT make it any more fun or better. If she goes through with it behind hubby's back, it could destroy her marriage. Is she willing to risk that? If she IS...Why is she still married in the first place? I'm a big "fan" of open relationships, and am bisexual myself, but cheating/lying is NEVER a good thing. Quite frankly, it could ruin life as she knows it...and no "one-night-stand" is worth that.

Take Care Dave, and everyone...

"This guy should be moderating the presidential debates"

If that actually happened I might actually tune in to one of the debates! :-)
Great article!

Thankfully, very little chance of getting smarmy dog crap from Dave....

Great you are receiving such glowing reviews!!... though I still think there would be a better atmosphere with a live audience.....there are certain aspects of the old Dragonfly shows I liked and miss.

Re last blog entry when TypeKey was not playing nice...never trust a cameraman when he says he's not running - they always are. My one and only experience with a TV crew at work for a 'reality' show - the guy said a similar thing to me but I know what that red light means and if it is off why are you checking it every few seconds?..... Much to my relief, I was edited out..there is a God after all...

Take care everyone...............................SB

Awww Dave, how wonderful it is to read this positive review, there will be many great reviews to follow just wait. Congratulations!

I’m so loving the comment; “Navarro goes at things with such a child-like wonder that it draws you into his attention,” and he is absolutely correct…It seems as when Margaret and I are watching and your getting all excited and pumped so are we. (How funny).

I know I’ve asked this before but an answer was never given, but I’m going to ask again so here it goes…

Is SE ever going to be released for purchase?

It would look so nice up on my shelf with the rest of the Dave Navarro, Jane’s Addiction, Panic Channel material, better yet; it would be so nice watching from the 60” TV vs. the 20” computer monitor….

Oh one more thing, Is there any way to boost the volume when were watching LIVE. I’m not sure if anyone else is having problems with the volume but its considerably low and yes we turned the volume all the way up on both the screen and the computer...lol Ok honey thanks!

Hope you have a great week, don’t work to too hard… Take Care sir, and God Bless…

right on.. cool review.

DAVE! So I'm doing a photography project for school thursday at the camp freddy show, it's going to be a photo story something like 'night out on sunset' or 'night at the Roxy' it would be super cool and awesome if you could briefly swing by (or stay for a while if you wish) the Rainbow after the show for a pic or two or help out in any way you can!

all you fellow 67ers are welcome to hang at the Rainbow with us of course.

and i swear I'm not selling the photos or anything like that, simply learning how to take better pictures, or at least ones almost/ just as good as Wendy's. I'll let you all see it once it's complete.

thanks all
xoxo
the camera happy Twerp

do i have a horticultural belief???do you dave? let me know what it is...child like wonder...not the hardened cynic like most tv networks mules eh!the innocence of the creative spirit and the gifted soul satisfied with what they have and knowing they don't have anything to prove cos they know they are damn talented at what they do ...god has graced them...and just allow everybody else the grace of pace to find what invests their spirit and soul with renewed vigour to achieve greater acts of creativity and prosperity for everyone concerned...engendering positive vibes is an artform seriously dying on television talk shows...conan the barbarian i call him:) and jay leno well let's not go there unless we are driving one of his convertibles:)oprah does do an excellent job though...unites america more than obama could or ever will...for a girl who was sexually molested and abused she grew up to be the richest most influential black woman in the world...says a lot for overcoming a bad past and moving onwards and upwards...dave's got that energy too unlike owen wilson he's not depressed and suicidal finding himself single? in 2008 in some midlife crisis...ummmm no...he's gonna fucking partay!!! like it is 1999...hahaha ...no prince jokes...he's skribbling all over miami and L.A. nightclubs with a six string blazing a path for the less adventurous of us...he stays independent musically creatively so nobody can jerk his strings...sane decision to make...no control merchant standover tactics...no boss no wife he's the envy of many men:)the delight of many women ...as a free agent he would be unbiased and open minded arbitrating presidential debates...larry king...king david how do you like the sound of this???;)

Great review, well deserved. You're a natural honey! I guess because you have guests that you're interested in talking to, excited / buzzed about spending time with or at least you make it come across that way and you're doing something you seem to enjoy. Also kinda noticed that your guests tend to have a personality :) and you draw out the best in them. So brilliant to watch you with people like Bobby Lee. Damn glad you started S.E. you and Todd are a good team. What's happening with the second film - remember you saying you were directing one, got no idea how you manage to fit that in with everything else right now. Have a great gig 2mro!

That IS a great review -- so spot-on. Between that and karen's post (not to mention all of the collective eloquence at this place), all I can say is 'ditto' and 'wow'.

I just wanted to give a shout-out and send good thoughts and wishes from my little cubbyhole to the 6767 world. Tomorrow night's CF show sounds like it will be an amazing time. (I've only seen CF once, but it was the ultimate "bar night" with the ultimate cover band!) Apparently a few fellow NYers are taking on LA this week... Who knew? Have a safe trip and a GREAT time! Should provide lotsa additional fun material for mortisha's project!

These are exciting times for CF, SE, music in general. Although I of course have my personal "wish list" of events, I'm looking forward to whatever transpires next!

Love to all,

D- Just catching up on CFR and I wanted you to know that I am a very damaged soul that is impeccably put together. I can't turn into a pizza post-coital, but I can make you one....Yea?

I agree with the author of the article. Child like wonder.... I have that too... I think all ex-druggies do..... we sort of got left behind on the emotional train. Dave would make a good late night host. I'd watch that show, but leave the rest alone, except for Craig Ferguson. Any chance we'd see that late night thing happen?
