This Week

Finally home from New York. I spent the last couple of days there shooting a guest spot on a new show for IFC called Z-Rock. It's a fictional, loosely scripted show a la "Curb" that is centered on a rock band. I played the band's video director in this episode. The show starts up in September on IFC and it is super funny. Picture a modern day, episodic, sitcom with Spinal Tap overtones... but this show revolves around a real band. They blur the line between reality and fiction very well in a very humorous way. Set your Ti Vo's for this show.

Wednesday: DN & DJ Skribble in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Private :( Event)

This Thursday on Spread TV: Shepard Fairy & Whitley Strieber_Up now: Eric Avery and Margaret Cho.

Thursday: Camp freddy at The Roxy, Los Angeles

Sunday: DN & DJ Skribble in San Diego, CA (Moonstone)

hey dave i watched you get eric avery to agree to do the nme show as a one time thing and it seemed pretty hard to persuade him. so what do you think you'll have to do to persuade him to do the reunion tour that we all want to see?

DN< sounds like a busy week! Have fun:)

Assuming there may be a reunion, would you be up for some new music with JA? I am sure many long time fans would love it!

Glad I got to experience the band every one has been talking about!

dave, have you started to write for you solo album yet?

Posted by: Jeff [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 27, 2008 12:23 PM

Dave, can you give us a bit on the show prep? What was rehearsing like? How'd everyone get along? How it felt to have all four of you back together on stage? Crowd reaction? After it was over, what did you all talk about? And, is there any glimmer of hope for more?

Hey Dave, apart from playing with Jane's, What else inspires you musically, meaning who or what makes you want to pick up your guitar and create music or just play the guitar.

~Any chance you can get any of the other JA members to join CF in May?

~Any idea when STV will be open for an audience?

~Did you guys get any video footage of your JA experience (rehersal, red carpet, backstage at show, etc) for a future segment on STV?

~Was there anything about that whole reunion experience with the guys that shocked or suprised you...anything happen that you weren't expecting?

Have a great Sunday, Dave and Fam. :) xoxo Amber

Hi DN,
Z-Rock sounds fun!
Highlights please! Hope Todd had the camera rolling at the NME awards :)
Got a ton of Questions:
Did it feel like 'home' when you all hit that stage together?
Did time stand still?
Was it over too fast?
Is there a way for you to reform and be independent of the whole management / record company shit and just do this yourselves? How does it work - could you tour without their backing?
Did you talk about possible future events?
Have a sweet week one and all.
Love, Racheal. xoxoxox

Dave Dave Daaaaaave,

the Picasso Brothers 1985, DLR + Pete Angelus....anyways...

2 things you-anyone could profit from >>>--->

secret message:¿¡oye, persona quien ley los mensajes para el gran Señor Navarro..¿si entiendes el español?

-it would be amazing to see Manuel Ocampo on the set with Dave, maybe he could bring a painting to chat about.

-there's this thing called MAL, or FAM, (movimiento arte libre-free art movement) and I like many artists have nowhere to put "our" videos up to,
because of course: copyright infringement...so it oozes through the cracks, and it's cool to be famous after your dead, that's what I prefer anyways,
but it sucks when you have amazing art and you know the masses can't see it when you know they'd love to, and it does good.
So, maybe a show on how to mass distribute illegal videos and keep them out there. Like for example I did 2 DVDz and one has a bit of original
Planet of the Apes reedited with the music of Rage Against the Machine.

And now a bit of wisdom masked as words:

Si el Dave nacio en el dia o la noche anterior del dia segun lo que dicen es su cumpleaños en el wikipedia, el nacio en el dia Miquiztli en el calendario Mesoamericano y por supuesto el Azteca.
Eso quiere decir que el tiene un don natural para: "la revaloración de la vida y la muerte y como pueden complementarse las cosas hechas y las que hay por hacer."

I'm on day 5 of Style's 30 day. It's taking me like 10 dys on average to progress a day, but it has been beautiful so far. I want it so baaaaad.

keep up the artistic work Dave, you are having a very positive effect on people that do very important life things for all life.

Peace,

One of the Ocelotr@s
Long Live Dave Navarro

Sooooo I just read this article...the part that struck me was this (when asked about JA playing Coachella):

**Navarro says his band just won't be ready when the event kicks off in two weeks: "We're back together and working hard," he said. "We'll be ready to perform again soon, but just not that soon. We need at least a couple of months to rehearse."**
Dave!! IS THIS TRUE?!?!?! Or a horrible misquote or misrepresentation of what you actually said?! I dont mean to start a riot around here, but that's some pretty exciting news if its true. Please let us know :)

happy sunday!!
Dave, please write about how it felt to be up there with JA again. you said once you are self-absorbed and this is the time dude to write paragraphs & paragraphs about Feeelings. your innermost, self-absorbed voice, pleeease.

also, what are you doing today?

Well at least you got the unseasonable nice NY weather. Now it's kinda crappy and chilly.
Q-last night on the taped CFR you were talking about how sometimes you say things that might be inappropriate in a joking way as a defense mechanism-well have you every said something to someone, they took it literally and not jokingly and it damaged your relationship with them? And you haven't been able to repair it?

Posted by: Robin [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 27, 2008 02:47 PM

"Lots to tell"?! I would like to know what that comment covers!! ...I doubt I'm going to get far with that question...

Anyhow.. a few...

Did you know or suspect that Jane's Addiction were getting back together a while back or was it a very recent occurrence?

Has Jane's recent activity forced you to put other current projects on hold or be delayed? (you do a million things at once anyway, something has to give, sleep perhaps??!!)

off at a tangent....

When someone's really annoying you, how do you normally deal with it, walk away, suppress your anger or just go for it and say what you think?

We had our day of summer in Scotland today, the town will be full of chunky girls in tight white tops with burnt skin on display tomorrow - I'll have to wear my shades to reduce the glare. On that note.............

Happy Sunday everyone.........................SB

yo. how fucking good did that feel?
cause we all fucking felt that shit man... the real deal, full on fucking mayhem.
WAS ERIC FUCKING STOKED? or what.......?
it was nice to see an interview where everyone spoke..... how are perry and eric getting along?
is stephen perkins the fucking raddest or what?
and lastly and mostly.... much much fucking love for all you miserable sluts... your beautiful!
gracias!

If Jane's were to do a reunion tour with Eric, would you guys throw Strays tunes into the set?

For the record, I just watched you guys playing 'Mountain Song' on YouTube, from Wed. It was incredible.

Hope you're good.

so....listened to saturday's camp freddy and not one jane's mention and you took no calls. are you avoiding the jane's question?

Hi Dave. I hope all is well. What were your top 5 favorite movies of 2007?

Posted by: PURE [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 27, 2008 05:10 PM

Dave, netflixed Janes addiction 3 days. Very interesting, enlighting and enterataining. Not sure if you want to touch on this subject or not but, it has been reported that Carmen and Rob Patterson are engaged. You have made it very clear that you and Carmen have remained very good friends throughout everything but, are there difficulties in the closeness of Rob working w/Billy? Again not trying to intrude, just wondering your perspective. Have a good Sunday. Niki

lots of respect for jane's but it's much and i mean much cooler to be out there diversifying ...it is 2008 we like 2 dance make a lil romance...ha hey fuck off with the ''miserable slut''talk we are having fun in the sun bakin our bun...and if i went out to see a dj l8 nite and i had one choice for an accompaniment it would have to be u dave...you are sex on strings baby sex on stringz with a Z TO THE ROCK...do you like carmen's cult classicz or do you prefer artzy filmz actually from what you write it seems you like gore, horror, crime bent, twisted homicidally warped films:)although ''dirty love'' was twisted and bent ...do you ever see yourself co-starring with carmem electra again or is that the hallowed ground of exdom you don't want to recover?any new lyrics yet for the new album?is summer nice over your way warming the coast up yet? are you feeling healthy wealthy and wise?witty and in a worlaholic mode?

Hey Dave,
I'm going to speak here for the many of us who didn't ever get the chance to see Jane's live (i.e. being born in 1990, I was just 7 years of age when you did the relapse tour). PLEASE (!!!) PLEASE (!!!) consider touring, I'm up here in Ottawa (Canada's capital), and I swear I will take the bus down to New York if you guys play a show there. You guys have a whole new audience and fan base; maybe you can show us how it's done.
much love,
Dave

You're coming to San Diego, it's been awhile. Yay!!!

I don't know if you watched the J.P. Orlewicz trial, they called it a thrill kill. It was pretty shocking, seeing he looks like Harry Potter to me. My question is:

Do you think that violent video games cause adolescents to fantasize, and become desensitized to violence?

Is kHz going to be on Spread anytime soon?

Posted by: Naomi126 [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 27, 2008 11:08 PM

what time will you go on at Moonstone Lounge? in San Diego, my understanding is that everything starts at noon and ends at sun down? will you be playing songs from "trust no one" ?

Posted by: Naomi126 [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 27, 2008 11:26 PM

Hey Dave

Just listened to the CF podcast and loved it. The whole cake and frozen yoghurt conversation cracked me up! No offense but I'd probably be able to eat more cake than both of you! I live on cake and I'm still skinny! Ha! And yeah, take it as a challenge!

I just got one question for today.. and it has nothing to do with JA. ^^

Got any new movie recommendations? (I'm still sick and desperatly need something to watch!)

Much love
Aggie

i am so so so excited about your guest spot, as a music directrror! cool! you would make a too cute actor!
ok....questions and things for you to do...tell Perry and the JA gang i adore them. we are proud of you, whatever you do. i liked the people above me posting about health and working out so..how do you relax? how do you keep in shape??? my secret has been, will always be any plastic surgery and low fat diets and lots of walking. do you get any beach time? do you have any property in LA around the fire areas? are you guys going to be ok out there, if there are any fires? what do you cook since you re vamped the condo?
lowes the retail store brought me a 1700 dollar refriderator, i was so in love with it, it was huge, so celeb. all black, shiny, the freezer was on the bottom, the cold stuff on top. but it was the wrong one, i bought the junky thing for 400 bucks. my only ceelb encounter was a refriderrator, lol! its a joke.
ok gang, much love everyone, have a great week, lindapolverini.
