A Quick 5
1. When things get tough for you in life, how do you remain faithful and optimistic?
It depends. Sometimes it's easy to just let issues roll off the back and not sweat things, keeping in mind that life is good and nothing really matters all that much in the grand scheme. Other times, I over react like anybody else with incapacitating, suffocating and fatalistic ideas and fears. Usually these moments are few and far between as when I look back at all I have lived through, moments that appear tough fall into perspective. In a pinch, there really isn't anything that life can throw at me that an episode of Dateline or 48 Hours can't fix!
2. Are you sort of always writing and tracking ideas, or do you have get into a "writing mode" and shut down some other projects to do so?
I really like to multitask so working hard on one project can bring life to another in a lot of cases. When it comes to music, the writing process is usually pretty all over the place and in-between other projects and life... That way I can feed off of experiences to create. Recording, on the other hand, usually becomes the focus and is pretty all encompassing in terms of priorities.
3. You've been on TMZ a lot lately...portraying a much friendlier DN too. Any particular reason you've changed your attitude towards the paps?
Ha! I'm a super moody guy. Sometimes I'm in the mood and sometimes I am not. I'm usually more accommodating when I am out somewhere like a club or an event cause I know that those situations are where you are kind of asking for it. When they find me in my everyday life, however, you never know which DN you are gonna get. a) The friendly chatty one or b) the "all up in my head" and irritable one.
4. When you reopen STV in April are the live tapings still going to be only on Thursdays?
We are totally rebuilding the set so I am really not certain as to the dates and times, but our goal is to be set up for live studio audience shows.
5. What's it like to jam out with a DJ? And will you guys be laying any tracks in the future?
It is for sure a lot of fun! It's not rocket science or anything, but it sure makes for a great time. We mainly take recognizable tracks and remix them in the studio and create original mash-ups. Original in the sense that the songs we are mashing haven't been mashed before, yet they are still covers. For instance, Skribble will create a rhythm track and throw an acapella (a raw vocal only) Jay-Z vocal like "PSA" and I will play a Rage song like "Killing in the Name Of" over it. We also do some original stuff with our partner J-Mellow on vocals. He has a kick ass record coming out soon that I have recently played on. The whole set is about 30 or 45 minutes within Skribble's 2 hour DJ set.

I think Carolina got the message that you were working on Spread TV..her report has a very short message added now. Perhaps she'll think twice before she prints bollocks about Dave Navarro again!! Or perhaps not.
I was wondering if the support you get, as demonstrated by the Carolina stuff, cheers you up or entertains you when you're down or pissed off? It certainly did me and it's nothing to do with me!
Take care.....................................SB

"Other times, I over react like anybody else with incapacitating, suffocating and fatalistic ideas and fears"
Oh I can so relate. For two days I was sure I was dying of some rare disease from Nigeria or a rare form of cancer.
Turned out to be bronchitis.
And I was brought back from the brink of death with some antibiotics.
ok so I'm a little dramatic.

I like your answer to number one. Funny how we can survive so much, and yet at times, still sweat the small stuff. Dateline and 48 hours, two of my favorite shows!

''don't sweat the small stuff and remember it's all small stuff'' yeah i've heard that said b4...haha i'd love to know what your most fatalistic ideas or fears were of...dave navarro does not seem synonymous with phobias you seem to have way too much clarity to allow yourself to get held down by fear...controlling demons releasing angels etc

Something that I've been pondering ...
Steve popped up over at the Asylum the other day regarding his new blog, confirming my curiosity of whether or not you guys still check it out over there. Do you do the same? Do you keep an eye on what the Agents have to say on the board?

I need to regain some of that perspective you express in #1. It's been a shit-tacular week so far and my thought processes are fucked.
Anyway...Sorry I missed the bashfest on that stupid c*nt. What a whiny piece of shit she is. Seems like someone who DESPERATELY needs to get laid.
Anyway again...Take Care Dave...
Love,
Nicole XOXOXO

I like your answers.. especially the one to Q #1. It's true that you got to keep things in perspective.. as I look back at some situations that I know I've overreacted in, I see why I did it but also the other ways I could have handled it in. Depite that, I never regret anything.. my official motto is 'Never regret things in the past, they've taken you to the path you're on now and are a part of yourself'. Anyways.. I'm toootally getting of the subject. Just wanted to say that you're a wise wise man!
Much love
