CFR/WSOP

Here is last week's Camp Freddy Radio. This is our monthly episode of Hair Metal bands... Always a favorite!

Something cool that I am looking forward to... I will be joining team bodog.com this year as a participant in the 2008 World Series of Poker. I am absolutely certain that I will get hammered early on in the games. I figure that this is probably the only sporting championship that I will ever be a contender in. I'm pretty sure that I'll never get to the Super Bowl or the World Series so I may as well try my luck at the tables. The WSOP is July 3rd in Las Vegas at The Rio.

Not much else happening. Billy and I will be in next Saturday for a new Camp Freddy Radio. Spread is dark for the next three weeks so we can upgrade our set and equipment and tech stuff.

In other news: Sadly, Winona Ryder recently got married. There goes #4 on the "Top 10 Things To Do Before I Die" list. ;) J/K

Dave, did you get a copy of the new NIN album Trent put online yesterday?

What are your thoughts on his distribution methods?

Don't count Winona out...there's still time. Ya never know. Keep #4 on the list.

Maybe you could direct her next movie - behind the scenes potential. Or maybe she could gueststar in your next one!

You should be more confident and believe in yourself about your poker playing performance! Instead, Say " I am going to HAMMER everyone in the so and so tables blah blah blah," apparantly if you say this kind of stuff in the mirror every morning it really work according to Louise Hay, author of "You Can Heal Your Life."

I am related to Rose who you met on the plane - for whom I believe you have the tattoo of the rose and "I have one not by choice". I am also a photographer and would love to make a portrait of you two, before too long if possible, as in she's not getting any younger. She does give talks to people - schools, churches, etc., because she feels it's her responsibility to keep telling people about her story and to talk to kids especially about tolerance. She sometimes mentions the story about meeting you on the plane and then hearing about the tattoo, but she says she's never seen you since. A portrait of the two of you would be a great addition to the booklet she's written about her survival experiences.. Is this a possibility? Also - having watched you on Spread - it would be so cool (meaningful/powerful) if you had her on your show.. just a thought... Soooz

WSOP?! How FUN!!! I'm jealous. They televise that tournament, yeah? I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Good luck to you darling :)

And new NIN album?? I had no idea...off to get it now! Thanx Sixy...

Oooh.. WSOP! I'm sure it will go way better than you think! And after all no matter how it'll go - you'll have a blast!

Camp Freddy was good as usual.. Bit sad I can't hear the music but your blabbering is entertaining enough for me ;) You guys always know how to make me laugh.

Sorry about your #4.. haha! But you can never predict the future - there's still plenty of time for that to happen! j/s

Oh and I haven't commented on the Sanaz interview since I've been swamped with Italian.. Mnih! Loved it and I must say I'm officially in love with your place! Looks effin rad!

Much love

I imagine there is a long queue of ladies willing to take place number 4......

No SE for 3 weeks!...I'll have to get a life....oh no wait, I have 50 million Law and Orders to catch up on so no danger of a life yet! Talking of which - completely useless info coming up - one channel in the UK shows L and O with totally different theme music - a kind of drums and strings arrangement and it is much better than the routine one.

Didn't you mention in the Sanaz interview you were starting another film in March? Sounds like more is happening than "not much".

Looking forward to CFRs as usual. SRLs are always welcome too though I have the amazing ability to completely miss them every time - the only one on repeat appears to be April 20, any chance of any others?

Take care......................................SB

CFR is always something good to listen to on your iPod while you're on the school bus, it's a fact. Also are you and Billy still going to do a different music genre (U.S. punk rock, U.K. punk rock, etc.) every month or is it going to be hair metal every month? Poker... I'll be the first to say that I know absolutely NOTHING when it comes to poker, blackjack, and all those related games. However, I wish you good luck on the WSOP tour. Even if you do get "hammered early on in the games," it's all about having a good time. Btw can you really consider poker an "actual sport?" :p

Spread gone for 3 weeks.... I'm going to miss it but I can't wait to see the "new improved Spread."

ha c'mon dave i'm sure there's other sports you are good AT honey you're too modest man...team bodog i'll check it out:)poker's interesting i see it as a random game of luck with a lil skill to bend it your way...whereas a guitar master is a lot of skill with a lil luck thrown in to bend it your way...
winona ryder??? girl interrupted...ummm in pursuit of hot dresses on rodeo drive with you as an accomplice:)dressed in that sexy black jacket...love the tatt 'forever by your side' very cool...xo

checked out jamie gold and the WSOP site...just a question for the next sunday 10...do you think it's cool that team bodog places wagers on celebs actions...like heather mills losing her prosthetic leg dancing on tv and paris what she'll be doing as she comes out of jail... seems kinda warped and a form of sadistic voyeurism...prosthetic legs and jail is no game...

I got chills reading your comment!

I remember when I asked you if you would ever compete in a poker tournament, and you said that was something you wanted to try someday. I'm so happy you're going for it, and don't sell yourself short. I really admire your willingness to try something even though you may not come out on top.

Robin is right, I don't think Winona got married yet, so you might have time to sneak in there. Failing that you could always turn up at the church and do a Dustin Hoffman in the Graduate scene, banging torturedley on the window, then dragging her out of the church and onto a bus. So romantic!!!

Haven't been able to get Skid Row's "Monkey Business" out of my head all week! One of my favorites. Sue me, I'm from NJ !

I miss hearing you play live. Need some of that soon. Like, May 2008...

Well since Winona is married as you said, which takes her off your list of the "Top 10 Things to Do before You Die" list, would you consider replacing her with this? Sex in space...

Hahahaha.

Don't know if you saw this, but your writer guest from last week's Spread is blowing up!

From cinematical.com:

Warner Independent Collects 'Beautiful Children'
Posted Mar 5th 2008 9:02AM by Monika Bartyzel

After the drama of Little Children, Bona Fide Picture producers Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa are looking for more, and they've found it. Variety reports that the duo will produce another youth-titled project with very adult themes -- an adaptation of Charles Bock's Beautiful Children, which will be made with Warner Independent Pictures.

Eric Roth, the pen behind Forrest Gump, The Insider, and Munich, is in talks to adapt the novel, which follows the disappearance of a 12-year-old boy in Las Vegas. Think Lovely Bones, but instead of an eerie account of a girl's death and its aftermath, this is a seedy story set in Sin City ...

Also I found this on a websearch. From the LA Times. (Link: http://www.calendarlive.com/tv/radio/cl-gd-events21feb21,0,4514974.story)

His unromantic vision of Sin City has led to much of the acclaim. Bock's had fun with his book's launch, but it's been overwhelming, especially after a decade slogging along in odd jobs, writing and otherwise.

"I have a bootleg of a '91-'92 Guns N' Roses concert where Axl Rose gives this six-minute rant/lecture about the press. At the end of it he says, 'They helped kill Jim Morrison with a lot less pressure.' He is being dead serious and does not have the slightest bit of self-awareness. I say to you, 'They helped kill Jim Morrison with a lot less pressure.' And I'm laughing through every second of it."

ahhaha Dave!

The Sanaz interview was great because it was so genuine in personality. Well, that is how it appeared. Also, your home is lovely. I really enjoy the lit chandelier and minimal aesthetic.

Also, "New Dawn Fades" is one of my favorite JD songs. It was great to see you playing it with Moby on SPREAD!

And just one more compliment...I like your hair long. You don't look 40.

Have a wonderful day!

Dave,

In the name of good guitar hair bands, but with a healthy dose of cheese I would like to nominate E'Nuff Z'Nuff. You just can't get Little Indian Angel out of your head - even if you haven't heard it in more than a decade.
