Great Show - Bad Sound
Here is last night's Spread with Bobby Lee and The Softlightes. Bobby was fucking hysterical... Probably the funniest guest we have had so far. The unfortunate thing for us is this... The audio is totally distorted. We have been making changes down at the studio where we shoot and for one reason or another, the audio on this show got all fucked up. It is manageable, but the issue does test one's patience. I would recommend getting through it... Bobby's appearance is worth it. The issue has been remedied so next week's show with Moby will be smooth. Plus, since we pretaped the show, I can tell you that Moby joined me for a spontaneous jam where we did Joy Division's New Dawn Fades.

Camp Freddy & Other

In the world of Camp Freddy: We will be doing a residency throughout the month of May at The Roxy in Hollywood - Every Thursday night!
Don't forget: Today at 5:00pm PST - SPREAD: With comedian Bobby Lee and music from Softlightes.
Two Netflix Recommendations:
The King of Kong: Awesome documentary about the competitive world of classic arcade gaming...
The Invisible: Surprisingly good thriller about hanging between life and death. The film keeps an Indie feel as it delves into the worlds of murder and the supernatural. Strong performances, soundtrack and no overuse of effects. The only problem with the film is that the female villain is way too hot to be believable. The upside is that the female villain is way too hot to be believable!

Starlight Tattoo Opening in Vegas

This was taken at the opening of Starlight Tattoo at Mandaly Bay in Las Vegas last Saturday where Skribble and I did a short set. Thanx to the people at Ascension for joining us on stage with their suspension talents. We had two artists on either side of the stage hanging and swinging from the ceiling by hooks pierced through their backs. Absolutely incredible!
This Thursday on SPREAD we have comedian Bobby Lee and music from Softlightes. We were initially without a first guest this week but I ran into Bobby at the airport. Since he is an old friend, he agreed to join us on Thursday.

Vegas Gig
Tonight I am playing with Skribble and our pal J Mello at The House of Blues in Las Vegas. Also joining us is Tommy and Aero, Everlast, The Spiders, The Lordz and Tattooed Millionaires. The evening celebrates the opening of Starlight Tattoo in Las Vegas. The House of Blues is located in Mandalay Bay so if you are in Vegas, come on down. This should be totally out of control.

New Spread
Been a while! I was in NYC and had an amazing time. The Stern show was, as always, a lot of fun. We ended up just talking about everything and nothing. I always have the best time on that show. As personal and intrusive as they get, Howard can get away with it more than anyone else in radio. I have done just about every morning radio show that tries to go for the "Stern" approach and they just can't do it without getting insulting. The reason is simply this. Howard actually listens to your answers and is even somewhat self deprecating during the interview which makes the time more conversational than anything else. They take their time and really allow you to be yourself. Also, the fact that he is now on Sirius, makes it that much more comfortable as there is no censorship. We got into everything I wanted to and even more. In fact, after the show, I was able to squash any disagreements I may have had with some of the people that were brought up. The Howard Stern Show: Where The Healing Begins - I was in there for about an hour and it went by so fast. I have done radio in the past where I was a guest for 10 minutes and it felt like a day. When time goes by like that, it is a sign of a great interviewer.
We talked for a while about the state of the music business, mainly up and coming Indie rock acts and the dwindling record sales. We talked about how people, for the most part, go over to iTunes and get the song or two that they want and not the whole album. I admitted to having done that myself. It occurs to me that if we want to support new music and up and coming artists, why not buy the whole album? They took the time to make it. I mean, we couldn't just get a song or two when we used to go to record stores. Sure, they used to have singles but back when it all worked, I'd usually buy an artist's album and not the single. So, in an effort to help support new music I have decided to download entire albums when purchasing new music on iTunes. Not only is it the least I can do to support new music, it makes my shuffle feature much more interesting. There is the argument that I'd be supporting the evil power of the corporate structures but the bottom line is that if a band is having some success with sales, the label is more likely to support them with ads, touring and so forth. As for the truly Indie bands, it's a win/win for them. So, if you can afford to join me, I am sure that your favorite artists and bands would greatly appreciate it.
HERE is the new Spread featuring Frederick's of Hollywood and music from Yellowcard. If you experience any trouble accessing the entire show, not to worry. We are on it! It may have even been solved by the time you finish reading this.

NYC
Well, I'm going East Coast tonight for a gig in Hartford with Skribble at LIFE on Saturday night. Come by if you are in the area... Thankfully I have Sunday off and then Monday is a huge day. First thing in the a.m. I will be joining the Stern show for a bit and then I am off to a mess of meetings all over the city. I don't know why, but meeting after meeting is much more doable in NYC than it is in LA. Maybe cause I am not driving? Who knows. Maybe it's just the NYC energy. Whatever it is... I love it. Items to discuss on Stern? The whole Stormy issue should be fun as well as the Greg (We couldn't get Jon Stewart) Fitzsimmons issue. I didn't mean to offend the guy, I was just waiting for him to say something funny! Honestly, we were at a porn event... I'm surrounded by sex and the guy wanted me to pay attention to HIM? I guess comedians really are the most insecure and darkest people in entertainment. All I know is that if I were on the stage at AVN, I wouldn't be worried so much about the bearded guy down in front, but to each his own I suppose. In any case, they talk a lot of shit on that show but when you get there it's usually pretty manageable and fun. I hear that even Artie (we couldn't get Howard) Lange chimed in with some comments, which is odd because the only time I even saw him was when he came into the green room in search of a deli tray. Speaking of awards shows... Last night was the X-Biz Awards show where my film, Broken, was nominated for feature of the year. We lost. I should have known when I was asked to present the award for "feature of the year". Not a good sign when you are giving away the award you are nominated for. The whole night was fun either way, however, I was probably the only guy in the room who was thinking, "Damn... I am missing LOST."
Next week on Spread we have another fashion show from the girls of Frederick's of Hollywood just in time for Valentine's Day as well as musical guest, Yellowcard. Just to make things easier, I am going to post the direct links to the latest shows from now on as I do with the Camp Freddy Radio links. Sadly, as a result of my travels, I will not be appearing on Camp Freddy this Saturday so Billy will be taking over. Next week, I am covering for him so it all evens out in the wash.
And now, more MRirian!!!! Todd Newman style:

Home from AZ and This Week
(How awesome would it be if these two both ended up Presidents?) This Thursday's Spread is going to be out of control... Lots of guests! We have Matt Zane and Tera Wray with a surprise visit from Wayne Static of Static-X, who is currently married to Tera Wray! Also on the show, is Jen from Genitorturers and a performance from musician Pigeon John. This is definitely a hard core cast of characters so if you are uninterested in the sexually liberal world, don't watch! The whole show is in incredibly poor taste and we wouldn't want it any other way! We had a blast shooting this one... Yes, it was pre-taped as I have a commitment on Thursday evening. I am a presenter with Tera Patrick at the X-Biz Awards. I know, I know... "What's with all the porn? When are you gonna play guitar?" Well, speaking of that... My new recording equipment is almost set up and ready to go at what Todd and I are calling our home away from home. The place where we shoot stuff, cut stuff, record stuff and broadcast stuff. He and I are about to embark upon a new project that I will be creating the music for and we are both super inspired to get going. More on this later.
Just got back from Superbowl weekend where Skribble and I did our set at E4 with Tommy and Aero. The whole town was completely insane with jocks, celebrities, artists, musicians and half naked women all pumped up for the big game and parties were going off around every corner. Now, personally, I couldn't care less about the game, but I have to admit that it warmed my little heart to see how excited my friends got about it. Skribble literally turned into a kid on Christmas Day when he finally got his tickets. I was on a plane headed home just in time for kickoff! Skribble and I added some new jams to the set including a mash up of Rage and Jay-Z and a mash up of Chicago and J Mellow. Mellow even joined us on stage to spit out the live vocal and it was amazing. He will also be joining us in Hartford next Saturday.
