Spread: Whitley Strieber
I just got off the phone with author of Communion and reigning king of UFO and Alien research, Whitley Strieber. Let me tell you, if you are interested in this subject, you will not want to miss the next episode of Spread on ManiaTV.com. Our conversation alone was one of the most interesting and compelling conversations I have had in a very long time. In order to do Mr. Strieber and the subject matter justice, I have decided to spend the full hour of the show with him. Trust me, we won't even be able to scratch the surface on this subject in that time, but it will be fascinating all the same.
I know we haven't been super on it in terms of getting the recent Spread shows up online in a timely manner. That has all changed and will remain that way. The last few week's worth of shows are now up online at Spread on ManiaTV.com. We apologize for the delays and are committed to bringing the rebroadcasts online as soon as possible.
In other news, once again the blog world and press have taken something I have written and blown it completely out of proportion. I don't know how this happens as I go out of my way to be as specific as I can here. A reader posted the following: "What would happen if a tour came about? You are on record (apparently) as saying your not really interested." I went on to clarify that if something like that came up, I would be interested. However, there are no such plans of any kind in the works. There is no hidden bit of information that I was alluding to in regard to this. Would I be interested? Sure. Have we even talked about it? No. My answer was simply based on where I am coming from.

i never want to miss any episode of spread but sometimes i fall asleep :) this is why i'm delighted that the re-runs are up, i can mainline!
as for the f*cking media, if only they BOTHERED to take the time and get their facts straight then guess what? they wouldn't sell any papers or mags and there'd be NO news cos pretty much most things would be explained. you are SPECIFIC here - they can't READ!!! or don't want to. stuff them honey.
have a great weekend DN.

You know what that means...
When you speak people sure do listen!
So between your innocuous answer to the question and the internet blowing up with a passing remark Scott W made about a possible STP reunion this year a lot of people were getting very excited over "possibilities". I know I was getting a little tingly!

It sucks that people take things you say out context. But, there are a lot of us out here that would love to see and hear Jane’s making music again. Anytime you mention the old band, ripples will turn into Ocean Size waves once it hits the fans.
Not that it matters, but I promise that I won’t take anything you say and twist it. At the same time, I’m delighted with what you have truly said, so far. Keep talking.
Oh and since I don’t post much here – make the record you’ve been talking about, or just record some guitar-only jams and put ‘em up and make a fan happy ;-).
Thanks

Unless they blew things out of proportion of course. Anyways, Scott has kind of been whacked out of it these past couple of months imo.

Once again, Slash is not directly quoted in that article as saying it, neither was Scott in that Miami blog actually.
Until there is word Dean, Robert and Eric...then I'll be packing my bags to become a "STPhead". Which is like a Deadhead but I plan on showering and not living in a VW bus.
Which is almost like Dave's honest answer to a question about Jane's and everyone running with it like a dog with a bone. Unless there is official word or a direct quote in the press, it's just hearsay. The internet is like a world wide version of the game "telephone".
Will a STP reunion happen? Most likely. But I'm not cashing in the 401K until it's officially announced.

By the way: Tried to upload the "Bringin´ on the heartbreak" -vid to youtube.

Dave, thank you for your works, I am really digging spread. It was rad as hell, to see Sasha Grey on there. I've been looking forward to her arival since the show's inception. Also, Todd Newman is great! He really brings alot to the proceedings. Now if only someone would bring on a a J.A. theater tour, that would be as rad me, probably! ;)

Dave & 67ers, it was me I asked the question and now I feel really weird about it!!!! I had noticed that the whole thing was blowing up myself when I saw 6767 quoted on another blog. I was just being inquisitive as I had watched SP on youtube (you know the piece I mean – right), so I asked what I wanted to know.
Honorable as ever Dave, you answered and now the world has gone mad...
On the one hand - people are interested and taking notice which is GOOD.
On the other, give them and inch. . . .
I'm sorry for any distress this has caused (DN, LF or) anybody this last week, that certainly was not my intention.
DN, loving your work as ever.
Sorry.

Talkings of aliens did anyone see that rock that looked like an alien on mars?
Once we thought we saw alien lights in the sky but it was only a Jean Michel Jarre concert. But it would have been exciting if it were aliens.

Also, Ttalking of aliens does anyone remember this great show called x or k, can't quite remember, about an alien invasion, the best scene is when this woman gives birth to an alien with a long tongue.
Also, would Dave ever consider going on the tv programme "I'm a celebrity get me out of here," in England? Janice Dickinson was on it last time. It would get him a lot of English exposure, it really did a lot for David Gest, everyone likes him now, but I suppose it would be tough not being able to do hair, make up etc in the jungle.

UFO's and Aliens, I can't wait! This might be your best show yet!

Being misquoted or misunderstood goes with the territory I think. Even if you are remotely famous, stuff you say gets quoted everywhere. Irritating as hell, but I don't see how you can avoid it totally, just make efforts to cut it down. It happens to me in the office and I am definitely NOT famous!!!
As mentioned above, at least people are interested enough to listen. It'd be a slap in the face if nobody cared nor listened to you.
Looking forward to the alien stuff and catching up on the recent shows - hopefully will have time soon................
Take care everyone.............................SB

Sounds like a great show comin up! I love that shit so much...
As far as the media cluster fuck that followed your comment on reuniting JA, look at the brightside...at least people actually care about you/Jane's. You could be some washed up guy that no one gives a fuck about, from some has-been band...you'll never have that problem.
So instead of being irritated, be proud of your many accomplishments and flattered by the attention, love. :) xoxo
oh and Deena - those videos are suuuper cute!!

Also, talking of aliens, quite a coincidence, we were watching Alien versus Predator the other night, NOT a great film however we felt it would have been a lot better with a a few love/ sex scenes between the heroine and Predator, as there is a definite connection almost fondness there between them. If you do a Sunday Ten Dave would you have any thoughts on this.

I was surprised to learn that Upoc is still around - anyone remember Voicemails from Dave?
At the time, I remember thinking how innovative that concept was. It's amazing how far web-based services have come. ♪
