More to Come

Last Saturday's Camp Freddy Radio is now up online.

1. Hey Dave, Are you going to have any input concerning the Jane's box set that Perk said he wanted to release this year?

Perkins has always been the archive guy when it comes to recordings of rare and unreleased studio versions and live performances of songs. When it comes to selecting material, I have total faith in his choices as he literally has everything dating back to the late 80's. Other than that, I can't imagine what else would appear in a box set other than the four records that have been released.

2. What would happen if a tour came about? You are on record (apparently) as saying your not really interested.

Yeah, well to be honest... My love for the music out weighs any old baggage that might have been. As I have said in the past... If Van Halen and the Eagles can get over their issues, I don't see why we can't. I just think that if something like that ever happened, it should be shows only with no new label, management, photo shoots, press and all that crap that clouds the experience. Simply a month or two of theater tour dates to celebrate the music.

3. What artists have you signed to the Spread Group so far (besides Sasha), and what types are you looking to sign?

Right now we are exclusively handling Sasha Grey and DJ Skribble. As it stands, we are really devoting our time to them as our organization is still very new and we only have a handful of people working with us. As we expand, the sky is the limit in terms of who we want to work with. We are interested in signing a variety of artists that range from music to film to whatever... As long as we believe in them, they qualify!

4. Any advice for someone beginning a new relationship with someone much less "sexually experienced" than they are?

I think that you mean than "you" are? Well, the best thing would be to make it fun and educational at the same time by being open and having good communication about what it is that each other wants and needs. Teach each other.

5. I just bought this new Family Guy DVD, It's a Star Wars parody type thing and they dropped your name in a joke. My question is do you know ahead of time whenever you are mentioned on TV or any other medium or is it a surprise to you as well?

Ha! I heard about that but I haven't seen it yet. In this case it is a surprise to me as they don't have to clear stuff like that. Luckily it was on a show that I happen to love.

Hi, I was wondering the same thing (as Six7Six7) and also what would happen if a tour came about, you are on record ( apparently ) as saying your not really interested (see youtube). Do you think the rest of the guys would go out without you? How would you feel if they did?

Hi me again, (one for the fans in the Uk here) do you have any plans to come over to the and do 'anything'? (Please!!!!!)

Yay! Sunday 10 - always makes me smile, sweet one DN. It's been a while!

1) How's the writing of new material going? Where are you at with it?

2) Last live gig you caught (that you weren't playing at) do you have time for watching bands anymore?

3) Have you heard of Derren Brown lol? :)

4) Since you're such a busy creature how much do you actually plan in advance - does that drive you nuts - or do you prefer to see how it rolls within your ongoing committments like S.E?

Sending Big Love - have a chill afternoon.

My brother sometimes says I'm not funny, but I think I'm hilarious!

Is there anyone from your past that once told you you weren’t funny?

Hey Dave and Family :)

So, Dave--what artists have you signed to the Spread Group so far (besides Sasha), and what types are you looking to sign? I get the feeling you and Riss are looking to have a wide range of genres to represent.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Hello! Watching the Xciting NFL playoffs today:)
Happy Sunday everyone!

A question for you, if Don't Try This at Home was a movie, who do you feel would be best qualified to play you? Who else would you want in the movie?

I know you don't agree with the concept of Celebrity Rehab, but have you caught any of the shows. IMO< it sends a STRONG message about not doing drugs!

Have a good rest of the weekend, what is left of it!Db

Cheers! :)

Dammit, now that I have the chance to really ask you something I can't really think of anything... uh..

1) If there was one piece of advice that you could give to any upcoming artists, what would it be?

2) If there was one thing you could change about the world positively, whether it's war, racism, violene, and all that "shitty fucking shit." What would it be?

3) Are you going to be voting in the upcoming election. Do you pay much attention to the political world?

I really can't think of anything else :o. Btw, I want to thank you for everything. I just got done reading DTTAH, and I came out with a positive message. Also, you may or may not know it, but I've really got into a lot of good bands/artists thanks to you. Mr. J (Procussions) was on Spread awhile back but I'm just now discovering them (thanks for On-Demand) but he is the shit... keep doing what you're doing. I really can't wait till we found out more about the Spread Group.

Hope all is well!

Many hugs,
-Kirsten

The Hazel O'Connor talk yesterday really brought me back, and that song...amazing how a song can jet-speed you back to a time in your life. Then I started thinking about that other movie, Ladies & Gentlemen the Fabulous Stains, remember that, with Diane Lane & the sex pistosls guys?

ha, K I remember that movie, saw it many times on TBS back in the mid-80's--I loved that movie!

Playing travel advisor, If someone was wanting to Visit LA and Hollywood, what would you recommend they do for a week? Being Hollywood LA born, I'm sure you could recomend a killer week.

Love your work.

Ok..quick question...

Any advice for someone beginning a new relationship with someone much less "sexually experienced" than they are?

Posted by: KansasNicole [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 20, 2008 04:18 PM

Q-The new studio, any specific pro's and con's you've been finding over the past few weeks since taking residence? And are you personally finding the vibe different than being in a nightclub?

And

When you had the all stainless steel kitchen back in the day did you find fingerprints and smudges to be a problem?
(I'm being totally serious, a friend and I were discussing the pro and con's of stainless steel kitchen appliances over lunch today and your old kitchen popped in my head. As you get older you find the leasure Sunday lunch conversations to go less and less about boys and sex and more about household appliances)

S10: I read online a couple weeks back that you are working on some kind of reality show for ManiaTV, above and beyond your Spread talk show. That true? What's it gonna be about?

Love to everyone,

Did you go to St. Paul the Apostle elementary school in Westwood?

Hi Dave,

In the past week or so, due to the writer's strike, there have been announcements about a couple old reality shows being brought back (The Bachelorette and The Mole). Any talk of bringing back Rock Star, since it was infinitely more entertaining? Would you be willing to do another season of it, under the circumstances with the strike?

By the way, I love the site!

Thanks,

Barb

hey dave
i know you're into old school metal like iron maiden, so i was wondering if your new solo album would in any way be in a more metal vein? what style of material are you working on?
thanks!

dave...janes addiction is undoubtedly one of the greatest rock and roll bands... ever. considering the granduer and profundity of live janes, and the amount of live recordings out there.. why hasnt another live album been released with real quality mastering..?

Posted by: ummyeah [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 20, 2008 07:13 PM

Thought of another question.

Are older shows available on Netflix? I sure would like to get my hands on some old Night Gallery episodes. I got into that show and Tales From the Darkside,Twilight Zone ect...

If there are, I might just have to sign up!:)Besos, Db

I love when you do these!

1) What bands have you been listening to a lot lately?

2) Do you still have your photobooth?

3) Is Rockstar coming back? And if so, when?!

Just wondering what happened to the video that hot girl made to Camp Freddy's 'Surrender'?

Posted by: drumfunk [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 20, 2008 11:08 PM

Hey D more of a thought than a question. I know how you like Aphex Twin (I don't mind the interludes on SE because the music is great thank you :-)) what about Cex? I really like the theme song to cex and ryan kidwells funeral. Just a music suggestion, maybe you could play it over the net. Or perhaps it will inspire. Anyhow good luck with all you are doing. I really hate the FCC. Thanks for being one of the internet tv pioneers.

Oh hi its question time.

okay my question is your motto used to be trust no-one. I wish I had followed this when i was younger as my knocks came from the people I trusted the most and least expected it from. So I can see the sense in this. But surely now you are older and wiser there must be a few you have grown to trust? Do you 100 percent trust anyone now?

Secondly, I don't know much about Jane's Addiction but I have heard the song Jane Says and there is a nice bit of guitar playing on it that goes da da da da du dudu du du du da da dada etc. Was that you? Because I think that is a beautiful piece of guitar playing, not that I know anything about guitar playing. But that just sounds really fresh. i like that bit.

Hi,Dave. Is Camp Freddy going to work with Chester Bennington any time soon?

Posted by: Treat [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 21, 2008 05:41 AM

Thanks for the Sunday 10!!!

Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem "In Memoriam" states:

'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Do you concur with his interpretation, or do you feel if you never loved, you wouldn't feel any losses?

Hey Dave,

1. Perkins recently said he would consider working with Perry again, would you ever consider it?

2. Are you looking forward to Eric Avery's solo album this year?

3. I know you're a Jonny Greenwood fan. What's your verdict on 'In Rainbows'?

4. How is the writing going for the solo album?

5. Is The Panic Channel pretty much defunct now?

Posted by: Look_On [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 21, 2008 08:39 AM

Jeeez, it's scary to think that this year is the five year aniversary of 'Strays'!

Looking back, how do you feel about that record?

Personally, I think it was stellar.

Posted by: Look_On [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 21, 2008 10:10 AM

Hey Dave. Congrats on awards. This is kind of a personal question, but you have said before that you don't mind.

Q: Do you have any piercings that we can't see, even with your shirt off??

and

Q2 What IS that wild instrument at the end of Jane Says? Driving me crazy - doesn't sound like quitar unless I am seriously auditory challenged.

Love ya
Andi

Thanks for addressing my query Dave. I hope so too...

Please come to the UK. I can just see you and the Camp Freddy guys on Jonathan Ross and Jools Holland. With local talent thrown in for good measure...

It would be soooo great.

Wicked answers, have so missed this!

Will you consider writers in that case for the S.E. Management Group at some point and if so how to apply!!!

Dave thanks for the answer and for correcting my shitty grammar. The "learning" process is going to be interesting because I have always been the student and NOT the teacher. LOL. She's too f'ing cute for me to really worry about it though. *smiles*

Have a great week!!!

K-Nicole, I don't know how you find the time or the energy!! Have fun and do everything I wouldn't, ha!

A question...
With the development of the Spread Group and subsequent artist signings, do you worry you may be starting to slide down the slippery slope to the corporate behaviour you have tried so hard to escape from?

It's good to see the questions come back....I hope everyone is well..........................SB

Posted by: Sarah-B [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 21, 2008 01:29 PM

Now sarah...Why must you always be so negative??? Ok..yeah..couldn't type that one out with a straight face. I think the butterflies I get from her every damn time we talk are giving me extra energy. **smiles**

Dave said:

"Yeah, well to be honest... My love for the music out weighs any old baggage that might have been."

So refreshing!

Do you think young girls should aspire to be porn stars?

Hey I was wondering if you have already seen or are excited to see There Will Be Blood? I personally love Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day-Lewis.

Yay…I got in…I totally thought you would have closed this by now….:)

Hi… I hope everything is going well for you and all your new endeavors. I bet you’re as busy as always. I hope its not to late being that you’ve answered questions already but I too have a question and I hope you don’t mind me asking….

What is the meaning behind the Spread logo, the skull with the fork and spoon?

The reason I ask is because…A few of our friends thought the decals on our trucks looked sharp and they are going to have theirs ordered. But while I was giving them the number to the graphic place they asked me what did the logo stand for or mean and I responded with something like…”You know, good question let me find out and I will get back to ya”. (That’s what we were taught to say when I was a facilitator for TY Beanie Babies…LOL)

Needless to say this was sometime ago and the question was asked to me again. (damn it!) If you do not feel the need to share this I totally understand but at least I asked… right? Have a great week, take care and God Bless.

Peace and Love
Yoli
