Spread: Today at 5:00pm PST
Don't forget, today at 5:00pm PST we have author Whitley Strieber on Spread at ManiaTV.com. If you are interested in alien abduction, UFOs and the paranormal you won't want to miss this episode. We gave Whitley the full hour and there wasn't nearly enough time to even scratch the surface. He has agreed to come back at a later date to continue our conversation. Sadly, John Walsh has had to reschedule so we were unable to tape his appearance, but he has agreed to come back as well.
In other news, Skribble and I are joining Tommy Lee and DJ Aero this Saturday in Scottsdale for a Superbowl party. Go to our MySpace homepage for more information on this event.

Spread Stuff
Morning... So, what's the deal with MRirian? I'm not really sure. I stumbled upon her page by accident and the only information I have is that she is awesome! I am currently trying to either get her on Spread or at least get her to do a, "Hi... You're watching Spread!" for us. I guess she kind of reminds me of a living Margaret Keane painting. I happen to own a Keane myself. Either way, I am a fan of MRirian. There is an avant garde innocence about her VBlogs that is both captivating and thought provoking. Go stare into a camera for 60 seconds. It is oddly somewhat challenging.
Gary announced that you were going to be on Howard Stern. Is that still going to happen?
I think so. I want to say the 11th? I'll be in NYC that week so I am pretty sure it's still on. That show is always fun. At the very least I'll have a chance to respond to some past topics of discussion.
Tomorrow Todd and I are going into the Mania studio to pretape the Whitley Strieber interview, so sadly it will not be live for discussion or messenger. If you have any questions for Whitley, you can ask them here and I will try to ask a few on the show. Agian on Wednesday, we are taping with John Walsh of America's Most Wanted. I am super looking forward to meeting him as well, considering I owe John and his show a lot! If it wasn't for John and AMW, my mother's murderer may have never been caught.

Spread: Whitley Strieber
I just got off the phone with author of Communion and reigning king of UFO and Alien research, Whitley Strieber. Let me tell you, if you are interested in this subject, you will not want to miss the next episode of Spread on ManiaTV.com. Our conversation alone was one of the most interesting and compelling conversations I have had in a very long time. In order to do Mr. Strieber and the subject matter justice, I have decided to spend the full hour of the show with him. Trust me, we won't even be able to scratch the surface on this subject in that time, but it will be fascinating all the same.
I know we haven't been super on it in terms of getting the recent Spread shows up online in a timely manner. That has all changed and will remain that way. The last few week's worth of shows are now up online at Spread on ManiaTV.com. We apologize for the delays and are committed to bringing the rebroadcasts online as soon as possible.
In other news, once again the blog world and press have taken something I have written and blown it completely out of proportion. I don't know how this happens as I go out of my way to be as specific as I can here. A reader posted the following: "What would happen if a tour came about? You are on record (apparently) as saying your not really interested." I went on to clarify that if something like that came up, I would be interested. However, there are no such plans of any kind in the works. There is no hidden bit of information that I was alluding to in regard to this. Would I be interested? Sure. Have we even talked about it? No. My answer was simply based on where I am coming from.

6-9
6. What's the biggest difference between the porn industry and the music industry?
Ha! In porn, the performers go into the business KNOWING that they are going to get fucked!
7. With the development of the Spread Group and subsequent artist signings, do you worry you may be starting to slide down the slippery slope to the corporate behavior you have tried so hard to escape from?
The whole point with our firm is to offer a place that is the antithesis of the corporate self serving structures out there. We do what's best for our artists, keeping their wishes and needs at the forefront of our focus. We don't lock anyone into a contract of any kind.
8. Do you ever really respond to e-mails or comments?
Not often. I DO read them all but the truth is that I get so many comments, questions, suggestions and requests that it would be impossible to answer everybody. So, if a question, comment or e-mail doesn't illicit a response... Know that it has not fallen on deaf ears.
9. Do you have any idea when the shows will be live and accepting IM's?
It really varies. Lately we have been having to pre-tape some shows in order to accommodate our guest's schedules. For instance, next week I have a full hour dedicated to Whitley Strieber, author of Communion. As it turns out, he is not available on a Thursday so we will have to tape that show. As soon as we have a live show I will let you know through posts and bulletins. Obviously, if we are live the IM's will be active.

More to Come
Last Saturday's Camp Freddy Radio is now up online.
1. Hey Dave, Are you going to have any input concerning the Jane's box set that Perk said he wanted to release this year?
Perkins has always been the archive guy when it comes to recordings of rare and unreleased studio versions and live performances of songs. When it comes to selecting material, I have total faith in his choices as he literally has everything dating back to the late 80's. Other than that, I can't imagine what else would appear in a box set other than the four records that have been released.
2. What would happen if a tour came about? You are on record (apparently) as saying your not really interested.
Yeah, well to be honest... My love for the music out weighs any old baggage that might have been. As I have said in the past... If Van Halen and the Eagles can get over their issues, I don't see why we can't. I just think that if something like that ever happened, it should be shows only with no new label, management, photo shoots, press and all that crap that clouds the experience. Simply a month or two of theater tour dates to celebrate the music.
3. What artists have you signed to the Spread Group so far (besides Sasha), and what types are you looking to sign?
Right now we are exclusively handling Sasha Grey and DJ Skribble. As it stands, we are really devoting our time to them as our organization is still very new and we only have a handful of people working with us. As we expand, the sky is the limit in terms of who we want to work with. We are interested in signing a variety of artists that range from music to film to whatever... As long as we believe in them, they qualify!
4. Any advice for someone beginning a new relationship with someone much less "sexually experienced" than they are?
I think that you mean than "you" are? Well, the best thing would be to make it fun and educational at the same time by being open and having good communication about what it is that each other wants and needs. Teach each other.
5. I just bought this new Family Guy DVD, It's a Star Wars parody type thing and they dropped your name in a joke. My question is do you know ahead of time whenever you are mentioned on TV or any other medium or is it a surprise to you as well?
Ha! I heard about that but I haven't seen it yet. In this case it is a surprise to me as they don't have to clear stuff like that. Luckily it was on a show that I happen to love.

Tomorrow
Tomorrow on Camp Freddy Radio on Indie 103.1FM from 6pm-8pm, Billy and I welcome special guest, Nip/Tuck's Kelly Carlson. Kelly is a longtime friend and happens to be on one of my favorite shows. With the writer's strike putting everything on hold for a while, we thought we may as well have Kimber Henry herself come in and hang. Her character on the show is probably the most dynamic with range and story lines as she has portrayed a model, porn actress, speed addict, mother and scientologist in addition to being the show's in house sex symbol. This will definitely be a fun show.
For those of you going to The NAMM show tomorrow, I will be at a couple of booths during the day. I will be hanging with the Paul Reed Smith crew from 2pm-3pm and then I am heading over to Digidesign from 3:00pm-4:15pm. Come say hi if you find yourself in the vicinity. As always, Todd will be with us filming the event for our show.

Spread: Sasha Grey & Horrorpops
(Image: The Horrorpops) The other night I was in the studio working on some tracks for the Navarro/DJ Skribble live show. It felt like I needed some different human elements in the stuff Skribble puts out of his system, so I hired my friends Rick and Brahm from Echoes de Luxe. They have a few demos up online and are currently looking for a drummer to join their lineup so they can complete the ep's they are working on. If you are a drummer or know of one, hit them up at their MySpace page.
Thursday on Spread we have Sasha Grey and music from The Horrorpops.

Back in LA
Well, it looks like we did all right! I just got back from the 25th AVN Awards in Vegas where my movie, Broken, won for Best High End All-Sex Release! Also, Sasha Grey, a client of The Spread Group, took home the Performer of the Year Award. The whole weekend was a lot of fun as parties and events were scattered all over the city. The Awards Show will be aired for the first time on Showtime this March where you can also catch the pre-show carpet arrivals hosted by Kirsten Price and I. We interviewed Jenna & Tito, Tera Patrick, Stormy Daniels, The Club Jenna girls, Ninn Worx girls, Vivid and Wicked girls to name a few. More people will see this show than have seen the past 24 shows combined. Prior to the awards I spent some time at the convention where Tera and I signed for a while at the TeraVision booth. Todd was on hand for our own coverage that is will appear on the upcoming Spread show on ManiaTV.
This week is another crazy one with a whole convention of a different nature. Next weekend is the NAMM convention where I will be spending some time on Saturday at the PRS booth and the Digidesign booth. I also have a couple recording sessions with Skribble and a new episode of Spread on Thursday. We are almost ready to have our studio open to the public! Once I have this week's guests lined up I will of course check in and let you know.

Spread
HI! Here is what's cooking... Tomorrow on Spread we have Molinee Green and a musical performance by Monster in the Machine. Molinee will be discussing aliens, orbs and all that stuff we love so much. It feels like a lot has been going on here as I suppose there has been. Larissa and I have officially started The Spread Group, our artist management company. We have taken on a couple of artists to represent this year. Skribble and I have been doing some dates including New Year's Eve in Vegas. Since then, we have been in the studio creating more mash up tracks for our Super Bowl show in February. I also played on a track with Schwayze and Cisco Adler. You may remember their performance on Spread a few months ago. The record is killer and you can listen for some stuff on upcoming Camp Freddy Radio shows. This weekend is the AVN awards. As you know, Broken is up for 5 awards including best director. I will also be co-hosting the red carpet with my friend and Wicked star, Kirsten Price. Lastly, I have been getting all my recording gear together to start work on another album. With no label or corporate input, I am really looking forward to this process. This will actually be the first time in my life I have had that freedom.
