Shop 13/Spread

We are currently cleaning house over at Shop 13 and getting ready for the new line of Spread Merch. Everything must go! HAHA... We have dropped the prices for the holidays.

Next Thursday on Spread we have the amazing Debbie Harry in the studio. You won't want to miss this as not only is she a living legend, but you will also get to watch me squirm uncomfortably. Talk about intimidating! Perhaps I can switch gears and go from intimidating to intimate! Seriously, we couldn't be more excited about having Debbie on as a guest.

What else can I tell you? Nothing much really... Going through the never ending saga of interior design. Today they come to do tile work in the kitchen, electrical upgrades and art hanging. Frankly, it will never end. Once the tile is done, I'll want to change the counter top. Then I'll want to paint... Ad infinitum. Apart from that, I'll probably hit the gym upstairs and lay relatively low. Having said that, now would be a good time for me to get to some questions.

Upcoming Dates:

12/13 Can's bar and Cantina in Charlotte NC - Hosting

NYE- Rain at The Palms - With DJ Skribble

Debbie Harry? Did you say Debbie Harry? THE Debbie Harry...that is sooooooooo awesome! I can think of a million and one questions I will want to IM to her!!
Oh and thanks for reminding me. I have to do my weekly screaming call to my contractor! Owning a home blows sometimes.

DEBBIE HARRY!!! ACE!!! Can't wait to see that! Don't be scared!
Good luck with the decorators, it will be gorgeous when it's done lol.. perfectionist!
I'm going to be cheeky and ask you three questions on Broken - if you don't wanna answer these then I promise not to repeat them ever again. Have a great week and enjoy your chill out in the gym. Thanks DN!!
1) Did you find that making / being involved in an adult ent flick altered how you saw or felt about sex itself?
2) Who inspires you directorwise? Were there people or films that you knew in the back of your mind that you wanted to draw upon?
3) You looked really relaxed and at ease - how did the experience compare to making music videos and doing Spread Ents features? Is it similar or totally different?
Love to all.
xxxxxxxxxx

Dave, how is the new record coming along, any progress from the last time you mentioned it?

Posted by: mudkor [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2007 10:49 AM

Hey DAVE...I think it's so cool that you are getting to interview so many people of different walks of life...just what the show was meant to be, huh? I was devastated that I missed you here in Houston. I didn't see the post until it was too late...next time :)
QUESTION: What do you think about Dr. Drew's new reality show CELEBRITY REHAB that's set to air on VH1 this January? I've been in out-patient rehab and I can't imagine having had cameras on me during some of my sessions. Dr. D says he's trying to show people that the disease of addiction is serious and ugly, etc. Your thoughts?

Much love from Tejas Papi....moia!

Will you sing with Debbie? CALL ME!

Will we be treated with pictures of your new place when it is completed?

Have you thought of having a "painter" on Mania TV?

Any chances of DJing in da 'burgh?

Always,
me

Hi Dave and family.

Hey Dave, I was on the Dearly Departed Tour this weekend when you said Hi to Scott. You made the tour even more exciting for me. :)
But I wanted to know, if you are going to ever go on that trip. And what are your thoughts on it? I know you had Scott on the show. (I was also there that day.) But I HIGHLY recommend that you take the tour, it is SO awesome.

DEBBIE HARRY!?!?!?! Goddammit Dave...please tell me you'll have the studio open for an audience! (Don't get testy now...I only ask because I'm one of the "3 people who show up" as you put it on SRL.hahaha) ;) That would be fuckin RAD to see Debbie Harry in person. I dont think I'd be able to talk to her, but just to be there to see it all go down would be awesome.

Anyways, I hope you are all having a great start to your week! I love you all! ~Amber :)

Hey DN and everyone. Oh crap! I always seem to post my comments just before the entry gets closed! Must be the time difference between USA and South Africa (or maybe I am just a late bloomer!!!). Anyway, if you will forgive the duplication, I want to know:

1. What is the wierdest/wildest/grossest thing anyone has ever thrown at you on stage?

2. What is the wicked sounding instrument on the live version of "Jane Says" on the J.A. Best Of Album? It plays alongside guitar interlude and sounds like some African Marimba come Polynesian thingy.(I love that album by the way)

3. I also want to know whether, with all the personal info you ahare about what you are up to and where, etc, do you ever feel vulnerable to/threatened by stalkers and other wierdos (and, no, I am not a stalker - I live very far away from LA)?

Love your work and good luck with Debbie Harry. Did you read the part in Anthony Kiedis' book, Scar Tissue, whwere he proposed to Debbie Harry when he was like 15 or 16? What is it with you guys and Blondie???

Dave, I have quit smoking, it's been almost three weeks since I have had a cigarette. I am taking Chantix and using the Nicotrol inhaler, but I still want to smoke soooo bad! I haven't let myself though; because of your triumph over addictions, I was wondering if you have any advice to help, or if you can say when the desire is pretty much gone. I also can't sleep, which I imagine is part of it, because usually I have no problems falling asleep when I want too.
Thanks, Cori

Ah Dave, I've just noticed on your myspace page that you are single again and Nicole's glamour shot is gone - this is so sad, I was hoping you guys were really happy and would stay together....and it's just before Christmas. As I obviously don't have a clue what went on, maybe you're happier apart but observing from internet-land it seems such a shame.

In a rubbish attempt to distract, a close work colleague of mine met someone a couple of days before Christmas and split up with his then girlfriend on Christmas Day just before lunch, they hadn't even opened any presents...wasn't the present she was expecting!! Anyway, he got some stick from the people at work for years after that. Also his new ex-girlfriend worked in an office a few doors down on the same corridor....messy!

A possible question

You mentioned going to the gym upstairs?! I thought you lived in a loft - you are the upstairs?! Is it your own personal gym or a membership type gym? Am I misunderstanding the meaning of loft - a US/UK difference?

Debbie Harry, wow, an idol from my teenage years...she was the epitome of cool in the 70s/80s...and depressingly pretty. Unfortunately I can't stay up to watch SE live....boooo.

Dave, I hope you find someone to be happy with soon and blessings to everyone out there..........SB

Hi Dave!!!!!!

Ahh...Debbie Harry...another woman that is so hot she's practically on fire. I am SO jealous.

I'm really sorry if you and Nicole broke up. Relationships are so f'in hard some times...but I know you know that.

As for a question...

Any chance of getting any Spread merchandise in a XXL? Seriously, there is no way an XL hoodie is going over my hips and tits. Just sayin'....

Lots of Love...

Nicole

Posted by: KansasNicole [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2007 02:50 PM

Ignore my earlier question..just saw that you do have hoodies in an XXL. Must be this damn Kansas wind getting to me.

D'oh!

Posted by: KansasNicole [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2007 02:54 PM

Nicole,
HAHA I was going to make Yoli buy me a SRL hoodie for my birthday today. But all the XXL's were sold out! Damn it lol!

I was watching Rounders the other night, and Matt Damon talks about the ability to read your opponent and what cards have been dealt. Knowing how much you love to play poker, do you think you have a good read on people, and know when they're bluffing?

Posted by: Linda from San Diego [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2007 03:56 PM

Are you going to get Pete a Girlfriend?

If I was left hanging on your wall with some of the girls you'd have over, I'd be hornier than a horny horn.

Posted by: DocOscar [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2007 04:05 PM

Happy Birthday Margaret!!!!!!!!

I know it sucks that all the damn XXL's are sold out. :(

Do you think it is likely that a person who has never done heroin to binge on the drug for a month only and never touch it again?

Posted by: freakshow [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2007 05:28 PM

What is your favorite Blondie song?
Mine would have to be Heart of Glass. It was one of my first "45's" As you mentioned before, how many people would know what that is.....I still have them, some 8-tracks, and a bunch of vinyl KISS albums;)

Happy Birthday Margaret:)

Have a good week =KISSES ,Db

we used to do 1000km surf trips with blondie blasting in the 80s...roadtrippin...but yes now we've matured the tiles in your kitchen are much more intriguing...creating a home is like creating a song it should emanate with personal touches and ambience and sensuality...obviously bypassed the velvet leopard wallpaper with matching zebra print lounge in favour of the more demure colour range...all elegance and eclectic taste just like your refined self of course...the stag is cute...it's a lil bit pagan do you do that arthurian staghunting thing when nip/tuck gets boring???

Posted by: karen [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2007 07:16 PM

the palms is a hot venue in L.A.too i saw the maddens do some djing a few years ago there for their fast future generation promo...you'll have fun

lin polverini, chlt nc another post brought of a great question, one of these days, talk about this writers strike. is this a west coast thing? the only news we hear about that sort of thing is on comedy central. and any favorite south park shows.

Happy Birthday for yesterday Margaret! I tried to order a SRL T shirt, none in my size, so I thought, go for a men's, etc, etc. The cost of the shipping to the UK was more than double the cost of the T shirt!! So I think I will have to do without....

The whole 'loft' comment I made earlier, it's a UK/US difference. 'Loft' means to me bats, spiders, dust and boxes of old junk, but a 'loft apartment' in the US is a big open plan warehouse thing on any floor I believe, yes? Anyway it was a crap question to start with.

Another question -

Spread Entertainment has evolved in a short time from a loose format of you sitting on a couch with your guests, chatting rather than being interviewed to a more professional mainstream look, seating arrangement, intro, dress etc. Is this something you naturally progressed to or is this a conscious effort to gain more recognition and 'bigger' guests?

I ask this because I think there is a noticeable image and behaviour difference between the two venues. On the Dragonfly shows you and Todd appeared to be having fun and playing (this is not a criticism, just an observation) whereas you are more 'professional' on the studio shows. This whole comment appears quite negative when I read it back, but it is honestly not meant to be bad in any way, honest!!

KansasNicole, have you posted previously as NavarrolessNicole or are you another 6767 Nicole?

Take care everyone..............................SB

I know you will never deal with a major label again. But who's idea was it to pass on "Go On" for TPC's main release? That song could have been pressed to a huge variety of radio formats and it could have really launched the record. Hope the new solo stuff is in the same vein as the first solo stuff -- can't wait!

Posted by: vegasboy7 [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 4, 2007 07:10 PM

Sarah_B...It's me...formerly just Nicole...then NavarrolessNicole....now KansasNicole...

Trying to be a bit tactful, ya know...

Posted by: KansasNicole [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 4, 2007 07:32 PM

Dave, I totally want that SRL hoodie! OK, I'll try again.

Posted by: lustforlife [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 4, 2007 09:32 PM

I think Blondie was one of the first albums I ever bought. In fact, it was "Heart of Glass". I sang in a band because of Debbie Harry. Love her voice.

Love your guitar playing too dave, that is when you do it. Do it please.

I have a couple of questions. For your studio audience would you ever consider getting those street kids in or just some interesting people off the streets outside your apartment, I am sure they would if there is free drink involved, well of course they would enjoy watching you as well.

I recently attended an art exhibition because they just invited people in off the streets, we got in free and got free wine, it was pretty good and an interesting mix of people you'd never normally talk to much.

That deer is pretty big. Did they have polar Bears in pink?

I hate to say this about your deer, but you know... here in Idaho it's just the rednecks that have deer heads on the wall. Real ones though.

ROFL...Sarah. Nothing wrong with an upfront question.

I've been reading just not commenting. Haven't had much time recently. I'll try to comment more so we can continue to annoy everyone with our banter.

**giggles**

Take Care...Nicole.

Now this is what I call a gift list!

You (for "Broken") and Michael Greco's book both made The Village Voice's list for sexy gifts:
