Monday Morning

Lots of rumblings here about music and future possibilities and so forth. The conversation I had with Billy on Camp Freddy Radio was merely that. A conversation. There are no plans for a reunion or anything like that. I was just thinking about how so many bands have managed to put their differences aside and get to playing. I know I am probably on my own with this one but with things the way they are in the industry, it's hard to ignore the fact that certain combinations and chemistries work musically. At the same time, they may not work so well personally. Sometimes I wonder if they really have to. So, I guess I was just thinking out loud on the phone with Billy. As for future musical projects, I am currently waiting for the new year to start putting together some new music. Do I miss it? Of course I do. What I don't miss is the industry. The good news is that there is no label in place and a new year approaches. As for all the other stuff I do such as the radio show once a week and the internet show once a week, I truly enjoy those things. After all, they only take two days out of each week to do. Not into it? That's totally cool. I'm sure everyone has plenty to do during the three hours I spend on outside interests. Sure, I do a lot of writing about where I am going and what I have been up to. If I didn't, I wouldn't have been able to meet so many of the amazing people here and have faces and personalities to go with the screen names.

Speaking of Spread, this week we have Hal Sparks in the studio.

Comments

Hal Sparks is HYSTERICAL on those VH1 "I love the...." shows. I never really saw "Queer as Folk" because I didn't have Showtime. :-(

And Dave-It's "Damned if you do, Damned if you don't"! Do what you do. Your the only person you have to make happy at the end of the day!

Ah Dave, we miss hearing you play!

Would you ever do a Christmas Song? What is your favorite Christmas song?

Always,
me

Hal Sparks is my FAVORITE one from those VH1 shows!! Super funny guy.
And hey...not that I dont miss you playing the guitar just as much as the next girl, but I think some people forgot this is YOUR blog...guess that probably means you're gonna write about whatever the fuck you want to, huh?! Imagine that! hahaha Liked what you had to say about meeting us/putting faces with screennames...not that you should ever have to defend what you decide share with us. Sometimes people are so nuts!
Much love Dave and 67ers, Amber :)

Also just to add onto Amber's train of thought..

There are VERY few people in your position who does take the time to meet and get to know his "people". Very few. And even if you've never met some people from here or SRL because of geography you know who they are.
And in all the years I personally have never seen you be rude to anyone in person, even if you want to be left alone. Dude you can work a room like a Politician!

I guess you can tell the neighsayers to "eat a dick"

hahaha! Yoli says YAHHHHHH! shes busy at work lol!

Very well said Dave! You know us 67er's we get defensive when someone comes and insults a part of our family. I also liked what you had to say about meeting your fans. It's true! Meeting you was the highlight of my year we love you !

XOXOXO

regarding the Gina Gershon show, I did get an e-mail promoting it... so it wasn't a total promotional wash!!!

Wow, it all kicked off on the last post and I missed it all!

Dave, as I've said before there are things you do that I'm not a fan of and other stuff I do like. Everyone is different and everyone has only one life to live. Personally I think it is none of my business to criticise you for doing a particular project, what right do I have?? Do people think you owe them because you are famous for music - is that you boxed and labelled for the rest of your life? Fuck that! I wouldn't take it too kindly if someone criticised me for doing something different - I think my response would be 'what the fuck has it got to do with you?'

Sometimes I may find you too crude for my taste, unfunny, or disagree with what you are saying, but that is a difference in personalities, cultures, senses of humour, etc. etc. Other times I find you very funny, entertaining and intelligent - descriptions I could apply to many of my friends, relatives and work colleagues - it's just life!

I thank God that 6767 exists, it has been a delight to read on many occasions - that includes the other 6767 posters as well. I find it amusing that sometimes I probably know more about what you are up to than the paparazzi or music press!!

People are entitled to their opinion and their tastes, but criticising you over something they don't like demonstrates , I think, their ignorance and small-mindedness (is that a word?)

Anyway, this is one screen name you will probably never see the face of (thank God I hear you say!!!).

Take care everybody............................SB

p.s. Stormy Daniels ?!?

Posted by: Savvy1007 [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 02:13 PM

Oh Sarah-B...if you EVER come to the U.S. I am flying to where ever you are and we are going to party. Loud, rude, crude, and obnoxious. You can create a fake name and life for the evening if you choose...but I would LOVE to take you for a walk on the "wild side." **giggle**

Dave, I love ya' always have...(BTW..was anyone else shocked when someone on the previous entry said they never heard of JA?) There will always be critics. Fuck 'em and live "your" life the way "you" want to. If you don't, you might as well die because "you" already allowed them to steal "your" soul.

Take Care and Love to everyone...

Oh, how I truly hope that you and Skribble do a show in Vegas while I'm there in February. It'll be my first time out there (poppin the Vegas / LA cherry!!) and it would be great to kick that vacation off with a bang.

Can't wait for the new tunes!!

how about some live in studio sex and love advice this week on CFR with an avid listener(and fan of your advice) who just happens to be in town? now that's an idea. i missed the part on last week's CFR about you wanting to meet your fans, but if that's seriously true here's your chance ;)

and what's up with the hater comments? people love to hold people back and almost want to see others stuck in the 90's or something i dont know..but yes, we miss you playing music but you'll be back soon with something awesome. you keep current and fresh with your other projects. what could be wrong with that?

Speaking of a Jane's reunion, I have an idea...it's a good one and you can steal it (and copyright it before Gene Simmons does)

Wouldn't it be cool to see a band from the past do a reunion tour of a specific album? Not the normal greatest hits set, but a live version of an album in it's entirety. You guys could do the Nothing's Shocking Tour, STP could do the Core Tour, RHCP could do the Mother's Milk Tour, Soundgarden could do the Louder Than Love Tour...it's got never-ending money making potential (especially for bands with a big catalog) and die-hard fans would support an album-show year after year. Bands must get tired of playing the same songs, you guys could pull out some stuff you haven't played forever. And rather than having all these old guys jump onto these stupid reality shows, they could revive their careers in a respectable way.

Just a thought....it could be the next big thing.

You know, we would all love to see a reunion tour with Jane's.
The music created by you guys is all worth the aggravation;)

Quick question: Any plans of having a live audience in the spread studio soon?? Miss ya!

Posted by: WendyBird [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 05:08 PM

Dave, first off, I never meant to insult you in the previous post of yours, which some people seemed to think I was doing.

And second, I have never doubted that you truly enjoy your tv and radio thing, I just thought that you truly enjoyed making music too. I'm not a musician (only a listener), but I always assumed that a musician couldn't help but make music, like it's part of your system and your being or something. It just seems like music is now second on the list and I never thought I would see that when it came to you. Priorities change I guess.

"You know, we would all love to see a reunion tour with Jane's."

I wouldn't want to see that. They've tried (and failed to some degree) to ressurect and re-create the past how many times? I've lost count.

Cheers Dave 4 the acknowledgement, is that spelled correctly? Haha, I am too damn busy with last minute Christmas stuff to check, however, I do care! :) Ok, here is the deal...b4 Saturday's CFR we had only heard a resounding, "Not gonna happen." Period. So 4 a little hope to be announced, at the very least, made our Christmas's, or at least, made us smile a bit! Thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays every1!!

Shalom~

as much as i love jane's i think its almost better to let sleeping dogs lie so to speak. it's almost cooler if you DON'T reunite. it will be hard to capture that magic from the early days. but what a fond memory we all have. better to keep things moving forward.

Hola papi!
Thanx for all U are! While celebrating her birthday, my sis was in admiration of how I met you. Without your BLOGS indicating where you were and how your bus looked, hubbie and I wouldn't have met you. You were very gracious to pose and sign my book. So, I too was very excited to meet a ROCK STAR:)

Seen you on The Shot this weekend. Also, noted that you will be commenting on a Criss Angel episode on Dec 29=4 am

While strolling through YOU TUBE I FOUND some interesting tibits:)

Ok so a reunion? Led Zeppelin pulled it off amazingly, it was an incredible concert. Janes Addiction should also reunite but only with Eric Avery. that would be fun to listen too all the original members playing again. Luckily no one in janes died so we can have a true reunion. Eric Averys solo album will be coming out soon, you gonna have him on the spread Show? that would be a great episode!

Will you ever play music on spread? You have amazing songs that you did on rhimorse and on rainbows and unicorns. That is amazing music!

Peace

DN - you kick ass.

I totally fuckin LOVE SRL and Spread Live, also there isn't a legal buzz (and I have given up all illegal ones long time since) that takes me as high as listening and INTERACTING with you. Same buzz as posting questions here. Love what you do, musically but you're also a natural host. It's not mutually exclusive, a person can DO MORE THAN ONE THING!! Gonna meet you next year so watch out!
You bring the fun, the talent and the intellect. Artists need freedom to create in all dimensions.

As for that really interesting train of thought - about musicians and chem' and not necessarily having to like each other personally to be able to create that - paraphrasing.. lol.. kinds struck me as similar to having great sex with someone you don't necessarily like (outside of the bedroom / and all kinky fun places around town etc) some times these things work on other levels! That's chemistry :)

Have a great week.
Much love
Racheal.

Dave, Call Perry and get Janes Back on the road!

Carl Restivo or Flea on bass...
Eric won't do it ..Although I wish he'd call Perry and make it happen.
Perry, Steve, Dave and Carl would be great. Etty can dance in the back..MAKE THIS HAPPEN BEFORE PERRY TURNS 50

Posted by: bman [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 18, 2007 07:12 AM

Please don't reform Jane's.
Doing something with Eric could be awesome...

For me Jane's ended with Ritual.
Strays was welcomed and I know I'd buy another Jane's album if it got cut but I also know it would not be as good as the early material.

Do another solo album!

Dave, are you living the life I think you have now?
