More To Come
ON AIR _ SRL _6:30pm PST
1. Do you ever cry in front of others? Do you feel if a man cries it shows his strength or weakness?
Of course. At my wedding I cried not only in front of our friends and family, but in front of the world as it was televised. As for strength or weakness and all that "man" stuff, I really don't have the time or the interest in giving much of a fuck about what others think! Being in touch with how you feel is always the better move. Expression of feeling is basically what art is all about. If an artist isn't in touch with his feelings, he doesn't create much.
2. Can you recommend any movies you've seen either on Netflix or in the theater lately?
Girl 27 - Documentary on a Hollywood murder scandal
The Devil and Daniel Johnston - Documentary on the artist Daniel Johnston
The Bridge - Documentary about the Golden Gate Bridge suicides
The Face of Another - B&W Foreign commentary on plastic surgery and self image (1966)
Little Children - Dark drama about adolescence in an adult suburbia
3. My wife picked up a hag-mag that reports that you were drinking some kind of gin at a party.
Yeah, I saw that. Once again it's nothing but complete bullshit. If I recall, a particular brand of gin was mentioned. Just a lame way to get ink for some of these companies. I never even heard of it and if I was loaded, you can be sure I wouldn't be wasting my time with Gin. I'd move right into the mind altering chemicals of the illegal variety! That's what I WOULD do if I was loaded, but fuck that... I'm coming up on six years off the chemicals.
4. Is there one person you would love to have on your show but can't seem to get? Who?
No, not really. There are so many fascinating people out there that it's hard to get stuck on a single artist. I suppose a wish list might consist of Eddie Van Halen, Charles Manson via video conference, any of the Manson girls, Neil Armstrong or Buzz Aldren, Lou Reed... You know, the list could go on and on... Fortunately the most entertaining guests are the ones who I don't expect to be as interesting as they show themselves to be when they get on the couch. That way, it all stays fresh and full of surprises.
5. Any plans to sell SE gear to compliment the SRL stuff?
Sure there is...
6. "Everything happens for a reason!" Do you believe that statement is true, or a platitude people recite to make themselves feel better about their life?
I do believe that statement but the funny thing is that I never say it when things are going exactly the way I want. The statement does usually follow some kind of lesson doesn't it?

agreed -- Devil and Daniel Johnston is a great documentary. Here's another.... I Like Killing Flies -- it's a documentary about an eccentric little diner in NYC. some of the lines in this are priceless.

More than Congrats on the almost 6 years sober.
Does it get easier or do you still take one occasion at a time? (Sorry I wasn't meant to be asking questions.)
And you're adorable. DAMN straight art is about emotion - creativity has to touch / reach people, artists cause reactions. Feelings make us HUMAN!!!

If you're still taking questions, here are a couple I've been thinking about for my class. A little late night philosophy for ya! haha
~"Everything happens for a reason!" Do you believe that statement is true, or a platitude people recite to make themselves feel better about their life?
~Do you believe in Determinism or Free Will?(or perhaps a combination of both?)
Well, thats all I've got. Now Im off to try and get some sleep. Nighty night everyone :) ~Amber

Goodmorning Dave!
Do you have plans for the Thanksgiving holiday?
Do you decorate for Christmas? If so, what is your favorite decoration?
Do you have a favorite holiday song?
Is there one person you would love to have on your show but can't seem to get? Who?
Always,
me

Hey Dave;
Thanks for the response regarding the gin. I figured it was B.S.
You didn't answer the second question though. Have you ever used anti-depressants and is did they help you with getting off the hard drugs?
My doctor recommended anti-depressants but I'm not sure more drugs is the answer for me.

I can only find a couple of SRLs from April on re-broadcast, am I missing something or are those the only ones up at the moment?
No huge messages today, I'm just so tired. The chance of me watching SE live is looking in doubt, I suspect I may be comatose by 1 am if today is anything to go by.
Re art and expression of feeling etc. That would be my view also, but I struggle with some of the modern art - visual rather than musical. The only emotion a pile of bricks, an unmade bed, a pile of rubbish or a crack in a concrete floor conjures in me is irritation or annoyance at the 'artist' who thinks their 'creations' are art and deserve serious attention rather than a boot in the backside.
Dave, I like these question posts, etc. (even though you didn't answer any of mine!!!). I suspect you are mega busy, but I just thought I'd say thanks, they are always interesting to read!
