Spread
Last week's Spread is finally up at ManiaTV, featuring psychic Belinda Bentley and actor Edward James Olmos. Today we are pre-taping tomorrow's program with Daniel Johnston via telephone as he is unable to be with us on Thursdays. That being said, if you have any questions for Daniel or for the band As I Lay Dying, feel free to message us around 2:00pm-3:00pm PST at AIM: spreadchat. Also, if he has time in his schedule, DJ Skribble may make it down to the show and we will of course throw a camera on him.

AVN 2008
Well, Tom Green won the TV Guide Award. Congratulations to Tom and a huge thank you to all of you who voted for us. Tom is a friend and he did pretty much pioneer this Internet talk show broadcasting format... So, I say good for him. He has also been live for a couple of years and we just got going. Now it's on to other things. This week on the show we have Daniel Johnston and the music of As I Lay Dying.
The good news is that even though we lost the TV Guide Awards, all hope is not lost. When a door closes, another opens somewhere. Broken, my adult directorial debut, has received 5 AVN Nominations! In addition to a Best Director (Non-Feature) nomination, the film was nominated for Best Editing, Best DVD Menus, Best Vieography and Best High End Sex Release. Thanks to everyone at TeraVision, the cast, crew and everyone at AVN. The awards will be held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on January 12, 2008. For tickets and information go to the AVN Awards website.

Um... Yay!
As some of you know, I actually live on Hollywood Blvd., here in Hollywood. I live in a beautiful building in a spacious loft, over looking the hookers, sex shops, gang members, street kids, character performers and tourists. I absolutely love the juxtaposition. It's probably the closest thing to "New York living" in LA. Right outside my front door I can easily walk to a number of restaurants, movie theaters, shops, music and book stores, clothing outlets, nightclubs and everything in between. Today, however, is a dark day on Hollywood Blvd. as a cloud has appeared above. A cloud... In the shape of The Hollywood Christmas Parade! Sure, some people like parades and that's fine. The problem is that we, the residents of this particular building, are trapped here! We are unable to access our vehicles for the majority of the day, leaving us to endure the glitter, marching bands, cast of High School Musical and Dick Van Patten. It's really going to be "something". Thank God for The History Channel! Yeah, I'll glance out the window every once in a while, but this day is pretty much going to be dedicated to UFO Files, 48 Hours and Nip/Tuck.

1. Very nice ring you were wearing on last weeks show. Left hand, and looked like maybe there were diamonds involved.
That is an old Masonic ring.
2. I wrote from my soul and u censor me. Wow.
Um... I have no idea what you are talking about. The last entry got deleted in it's entirety, post and comments and all, but I always delete the Spread Updates when it's time for a new one. No need to take it so personally.
3. Been watching "Broken." Could easily reel off a Sunday 10+ in regard to that - I'll save them until next time you're in the mood!
I have no problem answering those questions.
I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving. I spent the day with my immediate and extended family members and then went over to Todd's house and did it all over again with his family. Today I am just lounging around and taking advantage of the fact that business is closed. I'm gonna just watch old movies, order in and take a series of naps.

Thanksgiving
I'm leaving today to go to Houston and do a gig with DJ Skribble, then I am off to New York City where I will be sitting down with Donny Deutsch on his show, The Big Idea. I will be back by Thanksgiving provided I don't run into a Planes, Trains and Automobiles trip back home. Then again, he did make it back in time didn't he? On Thursday's episode of Spread we have actor Edward James Olmos and psychic Belinda Bentley in the studio. The show was pre-taped for the holiday so the Instant Messenger will obviously not be open. Hopefully we will be able to accommodate a live audience by the time we start back up the following week. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions regarding the new space and the show. Also, thank you for your support with the online voting for the TV Guide Awards. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I will try to check in from the East Coast via entries or maybe even Spread Radio Live.

More To Come
ON AIR _ SRL _6:30pm PST
1. Do you ever cry in front of others? Do you feel if a man cries it shows his strength or weakness?
Of course. At my wedding I cried not only in front of our friends and family, but in front of the world as it was televised. As for strength or weakness and all that "man" stuff, I really don't have the time or the interest in giving much of a fuck about what others think! Being in touch with how you feel is always the better move. Expression of feeling is basically what art is all about. If an artist isn't in touch with his feelings, he doesn't create much.
2. Can you recommend any movies you've seen either on Netflix or in the theater lately?
Girl 27 - Documentary on a Hollywood murder scandal
The Devil and Daniel Johnston - Documentary on the artist Daniel Johnston
The Bridge - Documentary about the Golden Gate Bridge suicides
The Face of Another - B&W Foreign commentary on plastic surgery and self image (1966)
Little Children - Dark drama about adolescence in an adult suburbia
3. My wife picked up a hag-mag that reports that you were drinking some kind of gin at a party.
Yeah, I saw that. Once again it's nothing but complete bullshit. If I recall, a particular brand of gin was mentioned. Just a lame way to get ink for some of these companies. I never even heard of it and if I was loaded, you can be sure I wouldn't be wasting my time with Gin. I'd move right into the mind altering chemicals of the illegal variety! That's what I WOULD do if I was loaded, but fuck that... I'm coming up on six years off the chemicals.
4. Is there one person you would love to have on your show but can't seem to get? Who?
No, not really. There are so many fascinating people out there that it's hard to get stuck on a single artist. I suppose a wish list might consist of Eddie Van Halen, Charles Manson via video conference, any of the Manson girls, Neil Armstrong or Buzz Aldren, Lou Reed... You know, the list could go on and on... Fortunately the most entertaining guests are the ones who I don't expect to be as interesting as they show themselves to be when they get on the couch. That way, it all stays fresh and full of surprises.
5. Any plans to sell SE gear to compliment the SRL stuff?
Sure there is...
6. "Everything happens for a reason!" Do you believe that statement is true, or a platitude people recite to make themselves feel better about their life?
I do believe that statement but the funny thing is that I never say it when things are going exactly the way I want. The statement does usually follow some kind of lesson doesn't it?

Monday
Happy Monday everybody! Just got home from Arizona with DJ Skribble and we had an amazing time. The show was awesome, even though we lost power at one point. Oddly, it is the spontaneous moments like that we crave. It gave us an opportunity to just go with the flow and have fun. Today, we are going down to the Spread studio to do some taping. The beautiful thing about the studio is that if we find a guest who can't do the live show, we can always go in and tape that segment another day. Today, we are shooting an upcoming segment with Edward James Olmos. Todd and I are huge EJO fans to begin with... But Battlestar? Come on now! That's amazing! We are also doing a segment with our in house psychic Belinda Bentley. Our plan for now, is to run these on Thanksgiving but you know that they will be up in rotation either way. Next Thursday on the live show we have Don LaFontaine coming in. He is the movie trailer voice over guy: "In a world where Internet TV and voice over meet..." You know who I mean.
A lot of people have been asking if we still plan on having a live audience. The answer is yes, we are just dialing in everything down there before we make a public invitation. We will be open soon enough! Probably in December which is only a few weeks away.
P.S. The online voting for Spread is ending on November 15th, so I'm told, so anything you guys can do to help support us would be greatly appreciated! Once again, here is the link. Thank you in advance!
If you want to throw out some questions I can always get to them this week.

AZ
So, all in all, the new show was awesome. We still need to tweak the lights and the mics and the set but I would say that for the first run in the new space, it was killer. The whole vibe is way more "talk show" and upgraded, but the content and the looseness remains the same. Now that I have a desk and a couch for interviews it has occurred to me why the obvious talk show set is such a staple... It makes for a way more comfortable conversation. Neil Strauss was amazing as usual. We could have talked much longer and we will for sure have him back. Also, it is a lot easier for us to have Todd so much closer to the action. The new studio is huge with tons of space including a green room, a makeup room and I even have an office in there.

New Show Launch!
Well, I just got over a really fucked up flu... Ughhh! Anyway, now that I am back on track... Here is the latest. We are launching the new Spread show on Thursday, November 8th at 5:00pm PST on ManiaTV.com at our brand new studio. Yes, it will be live! BTW, last week's "Best Of" show is now up and flowing on the Mania site. Also, our new AOL Instant Messenger name is: "spreadchat". No more confusion! This week we have author Neil Strauss and the music of Cage9 on the show.
