SE Best Of/New Home!!!
Spread Entertainment is finally moving studios! We are currently in the process of getting into our permanent home here in LA. We are upgrading the set, the vibe and the look of the show... While keeping the same old "whatever" attitude. Since we will be set up for good, we won't have to break down the gear after every show which will mean less audio and video glitches on our end. That combined with the new ManiaTV site, everything will be running smooth and clear for all platforms. This week we are doing our first ever "Best Of" show. It's hard to believe that we have done over 25 shows so far. We will be running our favorite clips of past guests, performances and street pieces. Next Thursday we should be up and ready to go at the new venue! I am trying to figure out how to do the new program. Should it still be live? Should we have an audience? Since we have the new place, we may be able to do some live, some recorded and some with a live audience. This may offer a more flexible environment and allow us to book guests and have audiences at different times so we can work around schedules. 5:00pm makes it hard to book people sometimes as it is in the middle of LA rush hour.
I know I keep hassling you guys to vote for us with the TV Guide Online Awards, but the truth is that if we win this thing, we will gain more visibility which will allow us to book a wider range of guests... Both mainstream and avant garde. Thank you so much for your support!!!!

A Few Questions
1. I'd love to hear your comments on the VH reunion. Are you going? What do you think about Michael Anthony being replaced with Wolfgang?
I am normally not all that interested in seeing live shows as odd as that sounds. Being a player myself, it can end up feeling as though I am starving and the restaurant I am in isn't serving food anymore. Meaning I'd rather play than watch people play. That aside, I am so all about going to see VH!!!! As for the Michael Anthony thing... It does suck that after finally getting it together with Dave, it won't be the original line up, but I have obviously been down that road before in my own bands. If it isn't going to be OG, then what better way to do it than to have Wolfgang. How awesome is that for him? Plus, the band is all family... 3 VHs and a Roth... Totally into it.
2. I wonder if you could post a small tab of the few chords you use, as in the song "Wrong Girl"?
Sorry I don't have those tabs and don't know where to get them. Honestly, I have never even looked at tabs so I don't know how to write them out or how to even read them.
3. Who was your favorite character on West Wing and why?
Interesting. As much as I love Aaron Sorkin and everything he does, it is hard to find a favorite character of his because he basically writes them all the same. Every character he creates is quick with the wit, intellectual, funny, sarcastic, sharp, a master of language and history... I'm sure you know what I mean. I guess on WW I enjoyed the Josh Lyman story lines the most but that is only because I am a big fan of Bradley Whitford as an actor.
4. A few weeks ago on CFR you read out a letter from someone claiming to be a serial killer, would you/have you ever replied to such an extreme fan letter?
No, but the truth is that I have a hard time responding to mail anyway. I use the Internet as the main means of communication when it comes to responding to people. I have no idea how legitimate that letter was. Would I respond to a serial killer online? No. As much as I find the psychology of these people fascinating, I am in no way interested in establishing a dialogue with them. That's just a little too close to home.
5. In The Road Less Traveled Dr. Peck offers a definition of love as being "The will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's personal growth. " Love is not "Falling in love" ("Falling in love" is a feeling.) Do you agree with this definition? How would you define love?
Blah blah blah... Dr. Peck can eat a dick! HAHA... J/K... I agree with the first statement but I also think you CAN "fall in love". As for a definition? I don't define love as it is different for everybody and every time it happens. I spend less time on the defining and stay in the experience provided it feels good and productive to the personal growth of both parties.

Back from AC
(Photo courtesy of Deena13) Just got back from Atlantic City where Skribble and I did a set at The Borgata club, Mixx. It was nice to see Deena and celebrate her birthday east coast style and she got some killer pictures from the performance. Maybe she will post the link for you guys to check them out. We all had a terrific time as the night was a pre Halloween party as well as a DJ/Mash Up set. Our set was a lot of fun as it always is. It's interesting to watch the audience during one of our sets. It's clear that they sometimes aren't really sure what they should be doing. Watching? Dancing? Chilling? Well, the right answer is all of the above. After all, it IS a DJ set so we don't expect everyone to keep their eyes on us. I'd simply say, have fun and do whatever the fuck you want!
In other news, Broken has been actually getting very strong reviews! Here is the latest one.

SPREAD ENTERTAINMENT-Thursdays at 5:00pm PST
Join us this week for an all new SPREAD ENTERTAINMENT where our guests will be... Um... I'm actually not really sure. I do know that the NYC hardcore Madball will be in. Also, Scott from the Dearly Departed Tours will join us for a morbid and compelling discussion. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine. We will cook something special up I am sure... No doubt about that. It's Halloween for crying out loud. I couldn't be happier with the new Mania TV site. Now, Mac users can finally watch without any problem. Plus, if you only want to see a particular performance from a band, you can just select that and not have to wait for an hour to catch it.
I have to say that last week Todd and I went and did Yo on E! last week. The show ran on Monday and I was very impressed with their editing and willingness to simply discuss Spread and other subjects without getting too into digging for the dirt. I guess not all outlets are evil! Yo on E! is a fun radio show that runs on Sirius Radio with highlights shown on the channel itself.

New Mania TV Site Launched
Great news! Mania TV has launched a whole new site. Not only does the site simply look a lot cooler, but it runs smoother and is very easy to navigate through. On our channel, shows are now segmented so you can choose from full episodes, live performances and highlights. The viewing screen is slightly larger now too. Please go poke around over there and get used to it.

Stuff
Here is an article I did yesterday for Rock Confidential. It's nice when an interviewer actually prints what is said and not just an excerpt or moments that could be construed as scandalous. Thanks to RC for their time.

Today, Todd and I are going down to E! to talk about Spread Entertainment. I am not sure when and what time we will be on but I will post it and let you know. It's kind of amazing to see such outlets as E! and TV Guide sitting up and taking notice of web generated programming. Tomorrow, I will be back in the studio with Billy for some old school Camp Freddy Radio on Indie 103.1.
Camp Freddy Radio up now!

Dave & Skribble: The live audio from the show was kind of sketchy, so we used primarily studio mixes... But you get the idea here. These are some of the mash ups we do live...

Sorry I have been away for a while, I have been doing a bunch of different things this week. Earlier in the week I went into the studio here in LA and recorded a few things for the new KHZ album. It was the first time I have ever done anything like this. Pull sent me a track from New York via e-mail and I took it and laid a guitar part on it and sent him back the file. As much as technology has hurt the music business, it can sometimes help the creation of music itself. It was a lot of fun and an honor to be a part of their new album. I also went out to Vegas for a 24 hour trip. DJ Skribble and I did a set at Moon, a nightclub at The Palms casino. That was a blast and the Vegas crowd was killer, even on a Tuesday night they were out of control. Skribble and I did a bunch of live mashed up stuff like Zeppelin with L.L. Cool J, Rush with Beasties and even Jane's with Missy Elliot. Sure, it's not rocket science but it sure is a lot of fun! Todd came out and filmed the set so maybe I can get a clip out relatively soon.

Just got back from Atlantis in the Bahamas and had a really amazing time. Atlantis is a very family oriented resort but they also have a beautiful annex hotel called The Cove which is a lot more adult friendly and exclusive. They give you the choice I guess... We chose The Cove! Sure, we wandered over to Atlantis to take part in the water slides and lazy river and dolphin experience, but at the end of the day, we spent most of our time at The Cove's pool, Cain, where they have super crazy ultra modern cabanas and amazing food. It was Sunday all week for me there! I hosted a party at the resort's nightclub called Aura. The space is huge and beautifully designed and has a rocking sound system. It's almost hard to believe that there is such a nightlife scene like that in the middle of the Atlantic. If you ever get a chance, you got to hit up this place.
