Back From Canada
Just got back from Canada with DJ Skribble and we had a great time playing at a party for the Toronto Film Festival. We are playing again in LA at Crash Mansion downtown on Thursday night after Spread. Yesterday on Spread, we had in the studio, Psychic Belinda Bentley and Brian Wallos the creator of The Benchwarmer trading cards... My girl Nicole is also a Benchwarmer so it made sense to have her on as a guest too. Plus, I went directly to the Dragonfly from the airport so it was nice to see her right away after my trip. Due to my travels, I was unable to get the information about last night's show up online before we aired, so the rebroadcast will be up on Monday. I have decided we are way to organized over there so I have thrown out the format and we are now going to be way more freestyled about the shows. No structure... Well, very loosely structured. It makes for a much more fun show and feels a lot more like CFR or SRL. Todd and I are now opening the show together in his booth and we just kind of rant for a while, then we get into our guests. Also, I am doing everything I can to get to more IMs during the show. As a result of needing more free time on the show... I have stripped it down to only two guests a week so we have more time to fuck around in there.

Good afternoon, Dave!
I wondered if you had plans to have John Walsh on your show? Or is that just some place you don't want to go?
Always,
me

Laid back is much better than staged! It was way more entertaining when you were sitting next to Todd bullshitting.

Hello! I had the opportunity to catch the latter part of yesterday's ep live, and I have to say that a) your girlfriend Nicole is gorgeous! b) Belinda B rocks - she seems like a lovely person and a breath of fresh air. c) I liked the way the vibe was laid-back and free, with just the right amount of structure to keep it all on track.
I figured/hoped that if you were going to move away from doing regular SRLs (as you announced the other day), then you would probably turn SE into the 'new' SRL, and incorporate some of the elements that made SRL so spontaneous and cool. You read my mind!
Have a great afternoon and weekend, and best of luck with all the new stuff, esp. the new music.
Cheers,

The few SEs I've seen didn't strike me as that staged - no desk, no notes and no obvious hurry to get through the questions and you appear interested in what your guests are saying.......but with fewer guests, I can understand how that allows more freedom, flexibility, etc. CFRs are entertaining so more of that suits me!
Some time this century I'm hoping to be able to watch the old SEs, but until then I'll remain in ignorance of what a Benchwarmer is. If asked, I would've said "somebody's backside?"
Happy weekend!...............................SB

That's what I like to hear, more time to fuck around!
Thanks for asking Belinda my question, even though Todd had signed off for you. Hopefully she's wrong about Spector! I don't know if anything happened yet, because I didn't get a chance to watch Court TV today.

P.S. Last Saturday's CFR was really funny..seriously funny. That disturbed artist that u played...his song was really powerful..I see now why Kurt was a fan..1 thing we I got out of the song..that verse u mentioned, the one about, "Making up things is the best thing I do..", what I got out of that line was how proud he was of his music and lyrics. I don't believe what that crazy girl typed on here last year about how u ruin lifes...she was nuts..u inspire and make ppl, even depressed ppl, laugh. Thank you 4 that Dave.

you've got to hand it to Dave Navarro...he can certainly make people laugh!
And not always intentionally...but thats not necessarily a bad thing....it's good to make people laugh, whether you intend to or not. The price you pay for being in the public eye.
As for ruining lives...people ruin their own lives. e.g why do people keep going on about how Kevin Federline ruined Britney's life and was a bad influence? She was an adult who chose to get involved with him.

Dave,
I have my first question 4 the Sunday 10, hoping u have 1 this week..do you ever delete ppl from being able to freely post here? I mean, I know it's your site, etc., and you def. have that option, I was just wondering if you believe in censorship? Merci.

Thanks for pointing out it's on you tube Bird.
But DAY-UM the sound was CRAPPY on those videos!
Umm Dave, waiting to see one of those posters with either "Webster Hall" "China Club" or "Marquee" listed as the venue ;-)

Yeah, great photos on the Vaseline ad! I use the same stuff but my skin doesn't look as good. I hope Minnie Driver uses serious factor sun screen when surfing otherwise she will be in trouble - her skin is already reacting by producing freckles. I freckle easily so I take the hint and cover up.
Caught up on CFR.....why are the majority of callers nutters? Are there no sane people listening?
Take care............................SB

Yep, the sound on those youtube clips was shite - basically. Is it sophisticated guitar karaoke with a paying audience? Looked good even if the clips sounded crap......................SB
