Spread Entertainment: Recap
(Copyright 2007 Debbie VanStory/RockinExposures.com) Last night's Spread Entertainment had to be one of my favorites so far. Margaret Cho was amazingly friendly and funny as hell. She was so open and up front about her thoughts, beliefs and ways of life with a continual injection of her own brand of comedy. Gene was, as always, the perfect guest. As an interviewer, I really didn't have to do much with him. I kind of just said, welcome to the show and let him go. He had so much to say about the state of the music business and rock in general. The guy does so much that a Kiss recap felt unnecessary. The real heat was turned up when his partner Shannon Tweed came on stage and pretty much took over. It was a lot of fun to witness their dynamic first hand and get into some relationship issues. Plus, rarely do we see Gene get "shut down" so hard. Of course it was all in fun and I felt really inspired about long lasting relationships as a result of their appearance. They really seemed like best friends and always knew what each other was about to say before they said it. Overall, last night's show had a relationship thread running through it. Even though Margaret Cho and Gene Simmons are worlds apart, they both shared their unique brands of what works for them and even commented on one another's view points. As it turns out, I am more old fashioned than either of them, but that was all part of the fun of live discussion. Next week we have Wes Borland coming down from Limp Bizkit and most currently from Black Light Burns. Wes is a super interesting and talented artist and will hopefully be bringing down some of his paintings for us.
I am going out of town this weekend so if you guys want to throw a 10 at me, I'm all good with that.

Hi Dave!
Can't wait for this weeks to be put up on Mania TV - I am sure it was real good entertainment!
So, for a Sunday 10, would you ever consider hosting a gameshow - the kind where the contestants are randomly picked? What kind of gameshow would you do? A Singing Bee?
Also, do you think the short prison time being done by a few celebrities will make an impact on them?
Always,
me

First of all Dave the show was kickass! Margaret Cho was funny as hell and Gene well what can we say about Gene that he hasn't said himself. HAHAHA! I didn't like the fact that he was dogging Manson. Gene is definatly in the minority of rockstars who havent used drugs but still I think it is not right to judge. Shannon, I love her she totally took over. Gene couldnt get a word in. It was so funny. It was my favorite show as of yet too.
Sunday 10
Do you ever send comments on myspace to fans?
What is the one thing in life that you could never part with?
Thanks for your time,
love always, MArgaret Perez

I am really looking forward to you recording a new solo album. I loved Trust No One, as well as all of the unreleased Spread stuff and the Rhimorse EP. I know that you probably won’t really know until you get in the studio and start working, but how do you think your next album will compare stylistically to your past solo work?

What's going on, Dave. Hope all is well. REALLY looking forward to next weeks show with Wes Borland. Got to meet him during BLB's last tour and found him to be a down-to-earth, intelligent individual. His art is sick!! Should be an awesome show.
SUNDAY 10
How often to you play your guitar? Do you practice daily or are you beyond that at this point? Do you always travel with a guitar?

Sunday 10.
Are waiting in angst for Halo 3 (as I am) or are you indifferent?

The show was great!
Gene was a little depressing. i believe everyone deserves a second chance. Manson's new album exposes his vulnerability which is unusual for fans used to his fearless public image. In my opinion it is his darkest work and represents a sence of the macabre that his previous work only hinted at. It takes courage to expose yourself. Should it be all about financial gain?
Anyways, i buy albums. If i appreciate and enjoy the music i owe it to the band to buy the album. A dying breed?
i still have hope.

Dave,
In what ways are you old fashioned in your relationships?
I love the show...but I miss your music too...would you ever consider bringing your guitar on the set and giving us all a little "fix." We need it Dave.

I was a bit stunned by the 'old fashioned' comment, not much stuns me on 6767, but this did! Unfortunately, I missed SE last night, just too tired, but thinking about it there are aspects of Dave that are traditional but not immediately obvious. I think the whole myspace Nicole picture and comment are just so sweet!! Dave is just a romantic softie at heart!! (This is assuming that the gossip is right and your new lady is called Nicole!)
I had a number of questions but I've forgotten most of them, here are a couple...
Do you find that your creativity significantly changes according to your mood or surroundings, e.g. stressed out, lonely, happy, etc.?
Re moving and streamlining, do you ever streamline the people in your life?
Have a great weekend everyone..............SB
P.S. The other slightly stunning thing was the venom in Karen's last comments. Posts that were once interesting to read have now been tarnished. Karen, you can write what you like about me in reply, if at all. Ultimately if you are the type of person I suspect you are revealing yourself to be, then I don't give a fuck....................................

First show seen. Wow. Pretty good. I absofuckin'lutely was thrilled that FINALLY someone spoke out abt. downloading & the harm that it does. I just wish that he'd stood up w/ Metallica THEN instead of keeping quiet. I think he would have had more of an impact w/ what he had to say. Too little too late. I'm sure all the thousands of people who lost their jobs @ Tower & HMV would have liked it. But there is one point that people miss- The real culprit isn't Napster, it's TDK,Sony, Maxell, Memeorex, etc. If they made the blanks inferior to the 'real' things like they did w/ audio & video, I really don't think the problem would be as bad. But then you have the $ for the cd's. Why so high? Are the record co.s still hurting from all the damages incurred from the bands' debaucheries in the 80's. Did they ever really recoup thier $$? Polygram folded because of it. I worked in a record store at the time & the reps. said they were just too in the red. Filed bankruptcy and shut down. Rockers and LOTS of country artists left w/ nothing. Makes you wonder abt. the saying,"Every action does affect the future."

Getting divorced 3 times ISN'T 'old fashioned'. No matter how you try to spin it or fool yourself into thinking. But they were together for SIX years total. maybe don't get married. Like god cares. Got better things to worry abt.
