Spread Entertainment: ELA & Next Show
Episode 6 of Spread Entertainment is up over at ManiaTV.com. We are once again live this week so if you are in the area, come on down to The Dragonfly, 6510 Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90038, this Thursday for an all new live show at 5pm PST. Try to arrive around 4:30pm. This week we have Tabitha Stevens & psychologist Leslie Davis to discuss plastic surgery and animal psychic Belinda Bently. Also, if Todd and I can get it cut in time, we will be showing the EroticaLA piece we shot this weekend. What a blast that was! We have over 5 hours of footage and talked to most of the top stars in the business, as well as some of the vendors who were there selling their new toys and devices. For time reasons, the version on the upcoming show will be mainly highlights from the event but we will be uploading different cuts that feature more in depth content.

Erotica LA ~ Spread Entertainment
This Saturday I will be returning to Erotica LA. Last year I went down for a radio broadcast with Indie and had such an awesome time that I figured, why not step it up this year and bring a film crew to document the event for Spread Entertainment. Todd and I will be at the AVN Racing booth from 5:00pm-7:30pm conducting interviews and capturing the overall magic that is... EroticaLA. If you can't make it down to the event, don't you worry! We will bring it to you! Remember how I wrote that Todd and I love the editing process? Well, as they say, be careful of what you wish for... This is going to take some doing.
Speaking of Spread Entertainment. This Thursday we are on as usual, but we have already taped the show as Todd is out of town. I wouldn't want anyone coming all the way down to the set only to find that we are dark. I think the idea was to let everyone think that the show was live, but you guys are way too smart to fall for that. It is a killer episode, I know cause we already did it! Tattoo legend mark Mahoney, Jila the Fire Girl and Murrugun the Mystic are all in the studio to create a very unusual and entertaining display of talents. Don't miss these guys, Thursday at 5:00pm PST on ManiaTV. Just click on the LIVE link.

1. What's with the Luca tattoo? That's Todd's son, not yours, right?
Right. Luca is Todd's little boy. More will be revealed on next week's Spread Entertainment, but in short, the Newman family has taken me in as a family member and the tattoo is a symbol of my love for Luca and the entire family. Here is the ad we did with Luca for Verizon on Spread Entertainment. They keep us up and running and since we have to give air time to our sponsors, we may as well do it our way:
2. What are you doing with your dad for Father's Day?
Today I took the family (Dad, Step Mother, the two kids) to brunch at a really nice hotel that my Dad loves. We just sat and ate and talked for a few hours... Very nice and relaxing Sunday.
3. How do you and Todd come up with the ideas for the "guerilla video" segments? Is it a planned idea or more of a spur of the moment thing?
More often than not, we just pick up the camera stuff and go. The pieces are never really planned out as we never know what to expect. We pretty much know where we want to go and that's about it... We let the people bring the magic and we just respond to them. Our favorite part of the process is the editing. When there is nothing left to edit, we know it's time to shoot another piece.
4. Brigette Nielson was trying to get you to taste her drink -- were you tempted but had the willpower to resist or were you just not interested?
Nahhhh, not at all. A sip of Jack is the furthest thing from my mind. As I said on the show... I was never that kind of drinker... I was more of a drug abuser. Frankly, I'd need a good year or two to do the damage that I'd end up doing and I just don't have that kind of time!
Since I only got to a few questions, here is the full Dimebag Darrel Tribute piece that originally aired on Spread Entertainment via ManiaTV:

Dallas/Pink's Part 1
Last night's Spread Entertainment was a lot of fun. Brigette Nielson was certainly a handful, but I wouldn't want it any other way. What an interesting lady. Half the time I had no idea what she was talking about but damn she was a fun guest! Wendy Fonarow had a lot of really interesting insights regarding the Indie scene and the concert going experience. I will definitely get her back on again soon as we still have so much to discuss. Episode 5 should be up over at ManiaTV.com by Monday so if you missed it you can for sure check it out then. Next week, we have a more alternative line up. We finally have our favorite tattoo artist Mark Mahoney in the studio as well as Murrugun the Mystic... A sword swallower and performance artist that will blow your mind. Also, we will finally talk to Jila the fire dancer and get to know her a little better in person. Mark will be tattooing Todd live in the studio as we hear from Jila and Murrugun and then chat with us as well. Well, I am off to Dallas Texas for the night but I'll be back tomorrow... Enjoy your weekend and I will be able to get to a Sunday 10 when I return. In the meantime, here is Part 1 of the Pink's piece we ran on last night's show:

Huh?
OK... That's reason number 4 isn't it? He did it... We did it... Rock Star was the culprit... Now it's TDDUP? This is getting laughable! Once again that doesn't make sense. The MTV show was wrapped after the wedding. I mean, that was the last day of shooting, which everybody was present for. There was nothing else to shoot. In fact, we went and played shows after that. As I stated before, I have no hard feelings and wish everybody well. I guess we'll just stay tuned for reason number 5.
Don't forget! Today at The Dragonfly at 5:00pm PST is a new live Spread Entertainment. The doors are open to the public and the broadcast can be watched on ManiaTV.com.
Here is a preview clip from today's show:

SE Thursday
Next week on Spread Entertainment we have Brigette Nielson and Wendy Fonarow in the studio. Brigette should be a lot of fun and Wendy is the author of "Empire of Dirt: The Aesthetics and Rituals of British Indie Music". She is somewhat of an authority on the Indie music scene so I am certain she will make for a compelling guest. Once again, we are open to the public for this show so if you are in the LA area, come on down to The Dragonfly in Hollywood... Thursday from 5pm-6pm... and hang with us. There is no fee for entry and the bar is open if you wish to purchase a drink during the broadcast.

CFR
Last night's Camp Freddy Radio with in studio guest, Dita Von Teese, is up.
1. Any chance you will have Dita on your TV show?
Absolutely! She has already been booked for July and will be appearing when she returns from her trips to the UK and Japan.
2. Is today the day of the Glaser kidsfest?
Yeah! I look forward to this event every year. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation seeks to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eradicate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. Today they are throwing their annual carnival for the kids where I will be manning the bean bag toss booth. Thank God, cause last year I did the dunk tank... Lemme tell you this. I got dunked! Hard! Over and over and over... It was well worth it to see the kids smiling and laughing.
3. Will you be inviting the public to come down when you start broadcasting from the loft or will there be some way to get tickets?
Actually we are looking into finding a full time studio that would be our permanent home. Once we are in somewhere, we will still be open to the public for sure. Having people in the room while we shoot makes for a better and more spontaneous show.
4. Do you think maybe that no matter what you all do, its always gonna be about Jane's?
Ultimately yes, but that is not a bad thing. I will always remain proud of what we did, who we were and will always be. I have the utmost respect for everyone I have had the honor of collaborating with and not only do I wish them all well, but I remain a fan.

This is a one camera video of Blue Bruises shot by Todd Newman at The Long Beach Arena, last date of the Supernova tour.
Highlights from yesterday's Spread Entertainment are up on ManiaTV.com. Both Mickey Avalon and Perez Hilton were amazing guests and had so much to say! Sunday 10?

Perez and Avalon
Thanx to everyone for the birthday wishes! I couldn't have had a better birthday week, with trips to Vegas and Vancouver. Vegas was more loose and reckless of course while Vancouver was a lot more upscale as I attended the opening of the Holt Renfrew store. Today is the fourth episode of Spread Entertainment at The Dragonfly in Hollywood. Last week we had more people in the audience and it made for a better show I think. If you are free this afternoon, come on down to The Dragonfly and hang with us around 4:30 or 5:00pm PST. We know it's a tough time to get anywhere in LA, but you are the ones who make it all work. Today we have Perez Hilton and rapper Mickey Avalon who will be doing a live in studio performance. Last week we fired up the AIM (spreadradiolive) and I was able to get to a few questions. Today, I will be going to IM and MySpace more as we have allotted time for both. Go to ManiaTV.com and click the "Live TV" tab at 5:00pm PST for a live stream... As always, the show will be up in archived rotation on Monday.

New Manson
I never do record reviews but I figured, at least you know what I like and what my influences are. Based on that, you can decide if you want to even consider my opinion... I always thought that readers should know where a reviewer is coming from before giving any review validity. I was just checking out the new Manson: Eat Me, Drink Me and at first, I was trippin... I was like... Huh? Being such a huge Antichrist fan, I guess I wanted more of that, but then again we have that record already, thank God. After getting into it deeper, I decided I love it. The album is a lot more stripped back production wise than the last few and way more "song" oriented. I would even venture to say that there are some serious New Wave elements to the new collection of songs, especially in the guitar department. Lyrically the songs are dark as to be expected but they are sometimes within musical structures that are by far the least ominous of all the previous Manson sonics. Vocally, he is on point... It's always good to hear that guy sing no matter what it's over, provided you are already a fan as I am. Melody wise, it's pretty much business as usual, but Manson's strong suit hasn't always been melody, it's been attitude, lyrical content and delivery... I think he still delivers here. Eat Me, Drink Me is a major musical departure from the usual Manson trip, in terms of the band and production, but it is a definite must have for the die hard fan. The album seems to maintain a moderate tempo throughout which can at times, grow tiresome to some, but at the same time, it makes for good in your face driving music or good background music. The same statement can be made about my last work with The Panic Channel, so in no way is that a dig. I will be purchasing this album for sure. You can check it out on the MM MySpace page which is linked above. Why am I even bothering with a review? Because information about music should come from musicians. The funny thing is, that I was inspired to do this review after talking to my long time friend and Rolling Stone contributor, Steve Baltin. We were discussing the whole critic/reviewer issue and it became clear to me through the conversation that the only way to change up the current dynamic is to go ahead and do something about it. Hopefully we can get more artists to get the information out there. Put it this way, if you don't like where I come from as an artist, you can at least consider that before reading what my thoughts are on a particular artist or band.

Vegas B-Day
New highlights up at the Spread Entertainment/ManiaTV Page. I'm still in Vegas and having a great time. Thank you for all the birthday wishes here and at MySpace. Next Thursday on the show we will have artist Mickey Avalon and gossip blogger Perez Hilton. Be sure to tune in for that! We won't be asking Perez about the latest gossip, we will be talking more about him and his life and how blogging has effected it. Anyway I am just checking in, we are off to another "thing" before we go back to LA. I will say that the party was a lot of fun and my dear friends Tiffany Masters and The Hard Rock went all out for it. It was actually very heart warming. They ran a video clip at the club with birthday wishes from friends and family and brought out a huge cake. Also, the Hard Rock Case dedication was amazing. I got a little choked up when I thanked everybody, especially Perry, Eric, Stephen, Martyn, Chris, Anthony, Flea, Chad, Steve and everyone else I have had the honor of playing with. Without them, I wouldn't have become the musician and artist I am. A lot of people out here have asked me about the next season of Rock Star. Well, I am pretty certain that it's a wrap on that, as I haven't heard a thing about it. I'd like to thank the members of The Panic Channel for hanging in there while we shot the show. We were in the studio when I got the call to do that and they were totally understanding about my temporary unavailability.
