Miss Universe
Tomorrow I leave for Mexico City to be a judge in the Miss Universe contest. You know, none of the contestants could possibly touch Janice... She has set the bar very high, so I'll do my best. I guess it's just bad timing for the Miss Universe hopefuls that we had Janice on our show just yesterday and she is so fresh in my mind! I wonder... Should I let them know that my vote is for sale? Nah, that's too obvious! A better strategy would be to find the runner up and whisper, "You know... I was pulling for you the whole time but those other judges just wouldn't listen. You are way hotter than her!" Nah, too over the top. In all seriousness I really don't know what to expect. I know that we don't have access to or meet any of the contestants until the broadcast, in order to not formulate an impression until the competition. Clearly the fairest way to go. What am I looking for as a judge? Well, I'm sure they will all be very pretty so that is less of an issue with me, as looks alone are usually a matter of taste from judge to judge. I'm more interested in talent, ability to captivate an audience and an honest agenda. Personal comfort as self-confidence are must haves as well. I guess I am shooting for the one who has the most potential to do something positive and productive with the title. That's the way it should be and I will do my part to make it so. Now... When all is said and done, my set of standards will dramatically decrease at the after party!

hahaha...Dave.
I just set my Tivo for this last night. There's like 50 other things playing at the same time including the World Music Awards - hosted by Lindsay Lohan. Hmmmmm....Lindsay or Dave. That's a tough call...I'll have to think on that one for a bit. hahahaha :D
Love ya darlin...have a blast

It was a deep, serious, meaningful and fair description of how a competition should be judged....until it was completely rubbished in the last sentence. It did make me laugh though.
Thanks...SB
my spell-chuck has stopped working...

AWW, those poor girls, how can they live up to your expectations? Seeing how many beautiful women you surround yourself with (including me HaHa), your standards must be pretty high. Is that why you were selected to be a judge? Good luck, I'm really curious to see your reaction to the lovely ladies, and if you will favor the blondes. Have fun, and don't overindulge at the after party!!!!!!

We all know "Miss Brazil" is going to win. They do every year.
Ya gotta admit, that country produces some fine lookin women....
And for the record-no I am not Brazilian. I only play one on TV. Have fun, drink bottled water!

Just watched last week's SE and I'll be watching again! The 'Price is Right' segment was funny, especially the date stuff at the end. The guests were all good, though I think, personally, the serial killer art was more interesting than the owner - the guy didn't come over that well to me.
Dave, you are a natural interviewer and I think the interviews were interesting and entertaining. If I had to choose between watching Dave Letterman or yourself, you would win outright - no competition. You and Jay Leno.....not so sure...Jay can be very funny. I'm not an instant fan of everything you do, if I don't like something, I don't comment on it. My opinion may not rate highly in the grand scheme of things, but I was genuinely impressed and I look forward to watching you in the future.
Thanks.......SB
PS, I assume there will be no CFR with you if you are eyeing up ladies in Mexico.....

hahahaha, that is awesome Dave! My hubby and I were in Cancun 2 weeks ago and saw the contestants when we cked out the sites at Tulum. What chaos it was with police everywhere! Have fun drooling over the gals and "judging".

Cool. As I said elsewhere, have an awesome time.
Oh, and thanks for posting the kermit interview. ("Aficionado"... lol.) Who knew that even frog-puppets get the blues sometimes? (Or is it the greens?) He's lucky to have you as a friend. Send him my best wishes next time you see him.
Cheers and good night,

Thanks for posting the sad kermit video, made a great start to the morning.
You seem to be relaxing a lot more into your interviewer role - which you should do - because you should know you are great at it! A natural.
Hope you do keep us posted now and then on Sad Kermit's progress anyway. I reckon he should be in rehab soon.

Now that I finally got the Bacardi Live videos to play for me. Everytime I watch Brett singing "Love Removal Machine" with Camp Freddy I crack up thinking about last summer when I got him to "deez nuts" you!

If Anthony Kiedis can settle down and have kids, then anything's possible. NOTHING'S SHOCKING anymore.
