Spread Entertainment: Tomorrow

Tomorrow on Spread Entertainment, live from The Dragonfly in Hollywood, we have porn legend, Ron Jeremy, Angie Everhart and Liam Sullivan (Shoes, Text Message Break Up, Muffins) as in studio guests. Go to ManiaTV.com and click on the "Live TV" link at 5pm PST/8pm EST for the live stream. A reminder... If you have any interest in coming down to The Dragonfly and be in the studio for the show, all you have to do is get there around 4:30PM. Entry is free. I'll have the SpreadRadioLive IM up and running and will be checking MySpace during the show to start incorporating Internet participation a little more. It's only our 3rd show and we haven't even begun to unveil all the bells and whistles. Video Skype is the next bit of technology we are looking to bring on board.

Miss Universe Wrap Up

(Miss India: Puja Gupta)

Such an amazing time in Mexico for the Miss Universe show. Evidentially there is some controversy about the winner as there always is but I can tell you for sure, that we, the judges, were not influenced in the least by anyone or anything. It was a straight up and fair panel and collectively, we were very happy with Miss Japan taking the crown. Frankly, I was happy to see it go to someone who wasn't your typical pageant girl, but someone who was selected on personality and poise. It was a tough call as Miss Brazil and Miss Venezuela were serious contenders, but at the end of the day, Miss Japan was simply more engaging. As for the Miss USA spill on the stage, that was hard to watch, but she pulled it off and went on and continued to charm the panel. I was pretty shocked by the audience booing her when she made it to the final 5. It was pretty intense. I felt for her, but as it turned out she didn't win so I really didn't see what they were so up in arms about. It was trippy to see how seriously other countries take the contest, as they view these women as representatives of their nations. I suppose that to a degree they are, but here in the US, we kind of just go, "Hey, want to watch Miss Universe or CSI?" So, out of the final 5, I am happy that Miss Japan took it down. However, in my personal opinion, Puja Gupta: Miss India, was the real jewel of the evening. I did my best to champion her, but in the end, I am only one of 10 judges and I guess my efforts got lost in the shuffle. I was able to catch up with Puja for a brief moment at the after party and asked her to appear on SE. She is so charming and I have no doubt that she is going to be one of the ones to watch for in the coming year. Hopefully she will grace us with a few minutes the next time she comes through Los Angeles.

Idol/CFR

While I am away, Billy and Donovan will be guiding the ship over at Camp Freddy Radio, tonight from 6pm-8pm on Indie 103.1. In fact, I will be out the following week as well because I will be in Las Vegas celebrating my birthday. Of course, I am going to try to pull the guys out there so hopefully we can run a rebroadcast on that day! For those of you who missed our American Idol piece on Spread Entertainment, here it is:

Miss Universe

Tomorrow I leave for Mexico City to be a judge in the Miss Universe contest. You know, none of the contestants could possibly touch Janice... She has set the bar very high, so I'll do my best. I guess it's just bad timing for the Miss Universe hopefuls that we had Janice on our show just yesterday and she is so fresh in my mind! I wonder... Should I let them know that my vote is for sale? Nah, that's too obvious! A better strategy would be to find the runner up and whisper, "You know... I was pulling for you the whole time but those other judges just wouldn't listen. You are way hotter than her!" Nah, too over the top. In all seriousness I really don't know what to expect. I know that we don't have access to or meet any of the contestants until the broadcast, in order to not formulate an impression until the competition. Clearly the fairest way to go. What am I looking for as a judge? Well, I'm sure they will all be very pretty so that is less of an issue with me, as looks alone are usually a matter of taste from judge to judge. I'm more interested in talent, ability to captivate an audience and an honest agenda. Personal comfort as self-confidence are must haves as well. I guess I am shooting for the one who has the most potential to do something positive and productive with the title. That's the way it should be and I will do my part to make it so. Now... When all is said and done, my set of standards will dramatically decrease at the after party!

Episode 2/Sad Kermit Interview

(Copyright 2007 Debbie VanStory/ RockinExposures.com)

Last night we aired our second episode of Spread Entertainment on ManiaTV. I was super tired as flying back to LA from Chicago and going directly to the set to do a live show proved to be a lot to take on, but Todd, BeE, Luci and Jila collectively shared their energy with me and we got through it. It was a tight and packed show with Janice Dickinson and Sad Kermit on as guests. Sad Kermit shared an up close and personal look at his life via teleconference, followed by his "Hurt" video. JANICE. Janice was amazing and brought honest and open conversation spiced with her own brand of humor and off the wall charm. She looked absolutely stunning! It's rare to find someone so glamorous and so raw at the same time. To me, it is her attitude towards life that makes her one of the sexiest women I have ever met. Never afraid to shock and never afraid to get honest and real. We should have the full episode uploaded on The Spread Entertainment ManiaTV.com channel by Monday. Next week, Ron Jeremy, Angie Everhart and Liam Kyle Sullivan. You may know Liam better as Kelly from Shoes.

Here is last night's interview with Sad Kermit:

Sunday 10

1. Lukas Rossi has married Kendra Jade, and I hear you introduced the couple. Any truth to the rumor?

I would say, yes. Kendra is a dear friend of mine and Tommy's and I believe it was both of us who made that connection possible. Couldn't be happier for them! Congratulations you two!

2. How do you choose the guests for SE? Are there set criteria or do you go with what 'feels right'?

It really is a matter of what feels right. For the most part we want to have a well rounded show of human interest, humor and artistry. Even with the guests who are more main stream, we are more interested in talking to THEM as people and not focus on "what they have coming out". We look for duality and versatility. For instance, we had Tom Green, then a look into the minds of serial killers. Next week we have Janice, then a package about the Dimebag Tribute and Little Kids Rock charity. So far we have really appreciated all the time people have been giving us. Especially our friends outside of the show such as KHZ, Tom and Janice. It's a lot more comfortable to talk to someone you already know well.

3. Are you going to put up previous shows like Tom Green does for us foreigners who aren't dedicated enough to get up at 4am?

Yes, for sure. Since we are live, we may run into technical issues such as losing audio or clips or whatever. After the shows, we will correct and edit the tech issues, if or when they occur, then put the show online closer to the following Monday.

4. What was the best unexpected moment for you during the first live show? Worst?

I'd say the best unexpected moment was when we found ourselves short on time and we went to David Faustino who just happened to be in the audience. The worst was when our pre-taped clips went down, but what can you do? It's live! At least we can have the full episode online in a matter of days.

5. How long does it take you and Todd to edit the videos?

Well, it depends on the piece and how much footage there is to capture but for the most part we kick out stuff within a day. The Mams piece was finished the same day I recorded with him... Price is Right was done the following day... Vegas took longer only because there was three days worth of stuff to import. We love having full control of what content we make available. Sure, it takes a little more time, but it's much better that we do it than have someone who doesn't know us do it. Creatively, those days are long over, for the most part, in all areas... Visually and musically. The band always had the final word, but you would be surprised by how much energy and time it takes to even hear the "two cents" from all the outside agencies that have an investment in a particular project. Simply taking a phone conference to ultimately say no, takes the players away from their primary purpose.

6. So how long until the loft is ready?

That is taking a lot longer than anticipated, hence the broadcasting from The Dragonfly. As of now, it's looking like July. Once up and running I intend to have complete and separate stations... One for video editing and one for music recording. Plus, I am looking forward to getting all the booth art stuff finished. A lot to do, but I absolutely love it.

7. I was just wondering if Billy will ever make an appearance on SE?

Circus Diablo is already booked for July.

8. Will Siggy be a permanent replacement for Chris?

Well, you can never replace Chaney... He is the man! Siggy is also the man but his time for touring is a little more flexible. Chris is a family man with two kids and we totally respect that. When he declined to do our last tour, it was completely understood and there were no hard feelings at all. In fact, Perk, Chaney and I played together just the other night and had a killer time. I always jump at the chance to play with him. Plus, I luck out because Chris is a core member of Camp Freddy and I get to rock with him all the time. So Siggy is no replacement, but we will be moving forward with him as TPC, if that makes any sense.

Post Launch

(Copyright 2007 Debbie VanStory / RockinExposures.com)

(Bill shows us a painting done by Charles Manson.) Thanx to everyone who made last night's first show possible... All of you, ManiaTV, Dragonfly, The Spread Vixens - Lucy & BeE, Riss, Todd, Robert and our guests Tom, Bill & KHZ! For a first show, I think it went well. We did have some issues with audio and graphics and video, but I suppose that is to be expected. I mean, we are, after all, doing this from a nightclub in Hollywood over the Internet and have to set up and break down the set everyday. Things will smooth out. I am going to upload the clips that we missed on the show and we are going to edit in the same stuff on the streaming rebroadcast so it will be a lot tighter. Next week the doors are open at the Dragonfly so instead of making this a ticket thing, we are going to just invite anyone who wants to come down, to come down. We suggest you get there around 4:00pm and the room can hold quite a few people so no worries. Next week we have Janice Dickinson and Sad Kermit on the show. You know Sad Kermit... He brought us the "Hurt" video. If you are one of the people who was offended by that video you may wish to pass on tuning in, or clicking on or whatever. Also we will be starting the user clip "Spread Submission" portion as well as having the Skype up and running.

After the show, Todd and I took a camera over to the House of Blues to cover The Dimebag Tribute Event. What an amazing time! We got interviews with Chester, Perkins, Chaney, Mike and William from Alice, Vinnie Paul, John 5, Scott Ian and the people who put together the Little Kids Rock foundation. All the proceeds from the night went to LKR which puts music programs and instruments back into schools that can't afford them. Later in the night I did a couple of songs with Chester, Perk and Chaney. What a fuckin crowd. Those die hard Dimebag fans go off for their rock! It was a beautiful night and Dimebag's legacy lives on forever!

Here is a quick highlight reel of last night's stream compiled by ManiaTV. As soon as I have better quality versions of things I will put those up either here, ManiaTV, YouTube or all of the above.

The Launch

(Copyright 2007 Debbie VanStory / RockinExposures.com)

OK the big Spread Entertainment launch is upon us, tomorrow at 5:00pm PST live from the Dragonfly. I know I promised a way to get tickets in advance, but we have been cranking so hard this week that I honestly do not know what the latest on that is. Here is what I do know. Due to the cameras and cables and crew and guests and machines, our live audience is going to be limited for the first couple of weeks. There are so many things to be worked out, but fuck it, the day is tomorrow so we are going to just go for it. The best suggestion I have if you are interested in attending would be to simply show up around 4:00pm, provided that you know that we can probably only accommodate 20 or so audience members. For Skype users, the url I have been given to give out is spread.entertainment. Personally, I don't know how Skype works, so hopefully those of you who do know what that means. (BTW Skype will not be up tomorrow.) HAHA. See you all tomorrow!

SE on ManiaTV.com

What a weekend! Just got home from Chicago and Toronto where I hit a few night spots. In Chicago I went to a place called Cabaret and hung out with Matt Sorum who was out there on tour with VR. My friend Marissa from the Mancow radio show also dropped by for a drink and we all just kind of chilled and took in the nightlife. Then on Saturday, Riss and I went up to Toronto for the opening of Tongue and Groove which is a brand new supper club. Picture a really amazing restaurant at a nightclub. The food is killer and the venue is beautiful. Now that I am home, it's all about getting ready for the first Spread Entertainment show at The Dragonfly this Thursday at 5:00pm PST. As I have mentioned earlier, Tom Green, KHZ and serial killer art collector Bill Shafer will be our guests along with a couple of pre-taped video clips. In a couple of days, I will have information on video Skype and how you can interact with the live show from home. Don't forget, we are looking for what we are calling Viewer Clips and Guerilla Video. The viewer clips are short films, home made music video, slice of life footage or anything you have created and feel is broadcast worthy. Guerilla Video is more artistic and falls under the performance art category. These clips are usually shot in public and are more gritty in context and nature. I will also be posting information soon as to how you can come and watch a live show. Our audience members will have the ability to ask our guests questions and appear on the program.

News

Spread Entertainment News: Tom Green has decided to fly back to LA from Canada specifically to join us for our premiere show on May 17th on ManiaTV.com - 5:00pm PST/8:00pm EST. Tom is kind of the pioneer of this platform and it wouldn't feel right to launch without him. Thanx Tom! Thursday's show is now a super tight lineup with Tom, Bill Shafer's Serial Killer Art and NYC based band KHZ. Reminder: We plan on a Spread's Viewer Clip of the Week segment, so if you have any video you wish to submit, now is the time. You can do that at the Spread Entertainment Mania page.

News From The World Of Panic: Siggy, perk and I have decided to get together in a couple of weeks and start writing some musical ideas together while Steve is in NYC. At a later date, Steve is going to come out here for an extended leave from the East with his ideas and contribute to what we have done, with the sole purpose of cranking out another Panic Channel record. We couldn't be more excited about this because we are now out of Capitol and don't foresee any potential hold ups from the corporate world. Our plan is to write, record, mix and make the music available online. Total DIY style. We have been complaining about the current state of the record business for so long and now we have an opportunity to do what we always wanted... End our personal slavery to a failing corporate industry that is on it's last legs and gasping for air. It's not only Capitol... It's all of them. They all play follow the leader but they look to each other to lead. You can easily see how that would be a confusing game to play. Anyway, enough label trashing. It's all about action anyway. Anyone can complain and we DO feel very grateful for the opportunities we have had, many of them made available to us by Capitol, so the real key is to keep moving forward. As long as we have the music and all of you, it isn't so bad. In fact, it's a pretty amazing deal!

Last Night's CFR

Here is last night's CFR. If the link isn't working, it will be shortly. Sunday 10 rollin over at MS...

1. Are you still going to be able to perform at House of Blues Dimebag Darrell benefit when it's the same night as your Mania TV debut?

Yeah, the Spread show starts May 17th at 5pm PST and lasts for an hour so I'm sure I can make it over to the House of Blues without a problem. I will be performing 3 songs with Perkins, Chaney and Chester.

2. How long until you think you will have your blog revamped?

I am not sure... Loop and I are simply updating it and doing away with areas that aren't current or in use that often and changing some graphics. Shouldn't be too long, but I got to say, it's nice that I get to actually SEE who is commenting over here (MS). Over at 6767 I have been starting to get spam and being able to block has it's advantages. We will, however, open it back up as not everyone is a slave to MS like us!

3. Netflix Recommendations?

Jonestown: The Life and Death of Peoples Temple

4. wtf? I'm lost... Redirected to myspam?

Yeah I know it sounds crazy, but I really don't get spam in the comments of blogs there, just on the actual comment page.

5. Speaking of "seeing" us...do you ever check out our myspace pages?

I have been known to look through them from time to time...

6. Any Birthday plans yet?

VEGAS!

(Still revamping, so if you wish to comment, you can do so at MySpace.)

Current TPC Status

I have been asked a lot about the music lately, so here is the latest. Steve Isaacs has decided to move to New York and begin a new chapter of his life. We wish him the best of luck and will miss his presence in LA, but we will never have to miss his friendship. Go kick ass NYC style Spooky! So what does that mean for TPC? Well, I'm not really sure because we didn't "break up", however, the distance certainly doesn't make it very easy for us to do anything right now. I guess we will just call it a hiatus. As a result of Steve's departure, Siggy and I have discussed doing something else with Perk and I am also interested in doing another record on my own, but in a totally different direction than TNO. I'm just thinking about it now, as I don't have a clear cut idea of what it should be. Either way, the beginning stages of these potential ideas are a few weeks away because I have been focussed on getting this Internet show together... Something I have been wanting to do for a long time. I will always be playing in one way or another. I do love taking on new projects and trying out different ideas, but without music, I would be uninspired to attempt any of them. For those of you who have asked about Rockstar, I honestly have no information on that. It may come back, it may not. That isn't my call, so I can't answer to that question.

Tomorrow night is an all new CFR!

(We are currently revamping some things here, so if you wish to comment, you can do so at MySpace.)

Updates

Update time: So the first episode of Spread Entertainment is just around the corner, Thursday, May 17th at 8pm on ManiaTV.com. To kick things off, we are going to have Pull and Raiana from KHZ in to do a special acoustic version of something off their new upcoming album. Also, we will be showing a short video of our trip to Vegas... Part 1 is already out there right now, floating around, but we will be showing the trip in it's entirety. We will also meet Bill Shafer, an avid collector of serial killer art, who will be bringing in a couple of his favorite pieces.

On Camp Freddy Radio next Saturday, Billy and I will have Rose Apodaca (Fashion Editor for the LA Times) as an in studio guest.
