Moving Right Along

Just got back from Vegas... Again! I do seem to go quite a bit. Todd and I did kind of a "road trip" filming experiment to create a clip for the live show. The funny thing about Vegas and filming is that all the best stuff will end up on the cutting room floor... Or tucked away in the hard drive as it were. We will push it as far as we can go, but for the most part, with the magic of editing, the 3 minute clip will look like "just a couple of good friends having a swell time in Nevada". We did have an awesome time, with visits to The Palms, Tangerine, Body English and a visit with adult stars Cassidey and Kirsten Price who were doing a photo shoot for Strip LV Magazine. Should be fun, but as I implied, editing will be some trick! As for some of the technical concerns regarding the SE page, don't worry... We are just in the beginning phases and are trying to address any and all issues such as auto start, competing with other video on pages with embeds, continual rotation instead of always starting over when you refresh, browser and platform conflicts as well as a few other issues. As it stands, I am just in the process of adding streaming content for when we are not live. Today I am meeting with our team to discuss the show open and block out the pacing of our first episode. In addition to the people at ManiaTV, our team includes:

Todd: Co-Host, Segment Producer
Robert Chafino: Interactive Design
Riss Friend: Management, Talent Coordinator
Dragonfly: Anthony Belanger, David Schockett
Holly: MySpace Slave

Reminder: This Saturday on Camp Freddy Radio (Indie 103.1 FM) from 6-8pm Billy and I will have Gilby Clarke in the studio.

Testing Spread Entertainment Embed

So it appears we can embed the streaming show anywhere! Right now we just have a few videos and clips up, but eventually you can view the live show here or at Mania when we start our live broadcast on May 17th at the Dragonfly. Tomorrow, Todd and I are going to Vegas for a quick little road trip to capture some video and compile a little clip for the live show. (We know this doesn't work well in certain browsers. Safari seems to be trouble, but Mac users can launch Fire Fox and it should be fine.) Don't forget you can go to Mania TV and submit your own short films or clips for possible rotation. You can also grab the embed code there to throw around on any site you want.

Spread Entertainment TV

One of the things we want to promote on the new show is underground filmmakers and video artists. Each week we will be featuring the viewer clip of the week... A short film or video that we can give a little web time to. The clips should be 3-5 minutes and will be shown during a broadcast and then thrown into rotation when the channel is not live on Mania TV. Upload your clip or a clip of interest to my Mania TV page and we will go through them and feature one on our show every week.

CFR All New Tonight

Here is last night's CFR.

1. Do you watch The World Poker Tour, and would you ever consider becoming a professional poker player?

Yes, I do! I watch it almost too much. In fact, I have Poker as a keyword in my recorder so I pretty much watch them all. My favorite is High Stakes Poker where the pros get together and play with their own real money. As far turning pro, I don't think that is such a good idea because I don't play consistently enough. I have definitely thought of entering the World Series or WPT once in my life just to have done it.

2. I remember reading all about Angelyne and your fascination for her in your book. Just wondering if her name ever comes up nowadays.

Actually, yes. We have spoken several times since and I plan to invite her to be a guest on the Internet show when the time comes.

3. On the last tour one of your guitars had a "pin up" girl on it. Is it a certain pin up girl or just one you liked?

That was a special homage to my friend, Gina Lynn, who I had recently met at the AVNs in January.

4. Will the (SE) material be censored to an extent like CFR, or is your content/language going to be able to be free-flowing like on SRL? I'm guessing the latter, but I'm not sure.

It'll be free flowing and uncensored for sure. The show will have a loose structure that can be toyed with on a given night depending on how well or poorly conversations are going.

5. With the new SRL Inc. are you going to sign any bands?

Possibly in the future, but as it stands the new show is not a "music show." When we have musicians on the show it will be more about who they are as people and what makes them tick more than a platform to "promote" stuff. As for signings and starting a label, that would be down the road. Of course we will be all about the music on SRL, but SE is more about variety and people.

Dave Navarro's Spread Entertainment

Today Todd, Larissa and I had a meeting with the Mania TV people about our Internet program, Dave Navarro's Spread Entertainment, which launches in May. S.E. is a live weekly online show, shot in front of a studio audience. I have been describing it as an "Internet talk show which focusses on the arts and the human condition." Sure, we will have music, but it is not a music show. We will be featuring artists of all kinds... Actors, musicians, everyday people struggling to overcome personal issues, doctors, comedians... You name it. As long as their story is compelling, we are open to them. The show is going to be an hour long and interspersed with comedy, but for the most part we intend to delve into matters of a more intellectual nature. The original plan was to have the show take place at my new loft but we have decided to change locations and use The Dragonfly here in Hollywood as an initial home. This way, we can invite an audience for participation in a more comfortable nightclub atmosphere. Yes, the bar will be open! Think Donahue combined with the arts and nightlife.

Listen for a chance to win a pair of tickets on SRL or CFR in the next few weeks.

Game On!

Time to fire it all back up again! I have been doing some SRL shows lately and I have decided to make the MySpace SRL page the main page for updates and broadcast reminders. It is now linked from the icon to the right that used to go to my now deleted personal page. I know it has taken me as long to post as it has for the Denny Ducket character on Grey's Anatomy to go away! When there is nothing to report, there is nothing to report! Anyway, we have been getting the beginning steps of the Internet TV project together and we should be up and running sooner than we expected. The loft is still not completed so we are going to find an alternate space in the meantime.

Reminder: This Saturday on Camp Freddy Radio (Indie 103.1 FM) from 6-8pm I will have author and friend Neil Strauss on the show to take calls, discuss his work and play some of his favorite jams.

Here is Five

1. I've just picked up Guitar Hero 2 on Xbox360. That cover of Stop is absolutely insane! Can you play it? Are you any good?

I tried that game and I think it's awesome, but I am really not good at it. My little brother smokes me at it. FYI it's the actual version of Stop by Jane's in the game, not a cover.

2. How many days do you take off from the gym? You mentioned that you took Sat off on CFR last night.

I take one or two days off a week. I'd go everyday if I could because I am kind of an addict when it comes to the gym, but I usually have one or two days on average that I can't get in. I have to go first thing in the morning otherwise I won't go.

3. Please tell me Dave that you did NOT break up with someone on a text message! That was a joke right?

Um... Yeah, it was a joke.

4. Have you heard anything definitive about Supernova breaking up?

No, this is the first I have heard of it.

5. Do you turn into a child when you get the flu or do you just get on with it?

HAHAHA I pretty much turn into a baby.
