Great - I was hoping for a CFR podcast - in fact I was dropping hints on the last blog bit, but it was closed before I posted!
I was also typing rubbish about Jesus posting in reply to a Karen comment but on reflection I better not repeat it.....
What I will repeat though is that I've just spent most of my day dealing with the results of people's disinterest and intolerance - giving someone a second thought can make a considerable difference, to you and to that person - and on that note - take care everyone........SB

Thanx Dave! I actually got to hear some of CFR live. Just to toss in my 2 cents, I think what's missing from mainstream music today is the ability to move the listeners.
There is nothing to identify with or relate to in most of the bullshit that passes for music today. It really goes back to the art vs entertainment idea. Great bands and musicians evoke catharsis and introspection in the listener. The others are just there supplying pure entertainment value.
Have a good week Dave and Family
Love, Amber

FYI - TPC.com has been spammed to all hell as of late and it looks terrible. You guys never closed the comments on the last post and there is almost 700 ads and shit on there now...just thought you'd wanna know....Housekeeping! hahaha

Dave
thanks for the CFR podcast
the 5 bands that you listened to on the vegas trip--are 5 0f my favorite, also---2 of them i have seen live---they all loved making new music and playing live together !!!!!!
it took alot playing and getting noticed to get a record deal.
long ago..many hours & years of work were spent learning your instrument and songs...
i have kept learning as i have drummed with the various bands i have been in.
the new technique with the computer lets you learn how to record without the great studio expense..which i like
i have drummed since i got a snare drum at christmas when i was 12...i am now 59 and still drumming...
not enough people play like you with a passion and fire for their music ....THANK YOU for doing so !!!!!
like your comment about the "corporate thing"
looking forward to all the new music from you
peace to all of you
Allan

well jesus has more subtle means of communication than the internet and axl is renonwned for outrageous rockstar behaviour as is dave apparently he fell over an amp?? off his head during one of his last gigs with the chili peppers which is one of the reasons he quit that band...look really who hasn't been there...live while your alive sleep when ya dead...i'm an artist foremost who's painted since she was 17 and i know that dedication to your art and constant practice makes purrrfect...it's a long way 2 the top if you wanna rock n roll but if you wanna paint you have to die first to get recognition usually ...ha...but yeah i admire people who craft their own style and musical careers due to an overwhelming desire to express emotions and beauty and the not so beautiful aspects of life rather than manufacture a song to generate cash and fame for themselves and a corporate boss...it should be your lifeblood something innate unavoidable talent that is irrepressible...dave's was...most good guitarists sat there at 16 for 5 hours everyday playing till their fingers bled...i paint like that y'know sometimes longer hours...think of all the high rollers parties i missed in my twenties whilst dedicated to my art...damn but it was worth it!!!because it's soulful shit baby...stripping isn't but it pays bills...the world wasn't created for artists that is why most of the good ones die...they want to get the f*** outta here with all it's material perspectives it gets our gentle souls down...ask kurt cobain, elvis presley, janis joplin, jimi hendrix, that guy from alice in chains...

Try Layne Staley.
And it wasn't a GIG. It was rehearsal.
what a bunch of babble about absolutely nothing. Maybe Karen should change her name to "Seinfeld"

;)keep in the right layne...steering this goddMN thing with hecklers is fun...who's seinfeld???is this a music site???i've danced a pole baby i've painted a masterpiece...tis all good...i wasn't a huge alice in chains fan i know he was into heroin and he sung well didn't know his name sorry...and i don't really want fans i'm here to be dave's fan not to collect them myself...i want to know what it's like to lose your mother when you are 15 and circumnavigate yourself around such evil to emerge as a successful artist...i have a son who plays electric guitar who's 15 and i wonder if one of my men killed me how he'd cope...would he be in strip clubs in vegas 20 years later after touring with his band...overcoming adversity is interesting rather than succumbing to it

I agree with Danni, that comment is inappropriate and callous!

A little too much Dave, although we do love you. You dominated Killby, but then again if you hadn't, I would have fallen asleep. It's a fine line.

Maybe she meant Gilby?
Posted by: Danni from ND at April 30, 2007 11:28 PM
not really callous...realistic...statistics show that a lot of women are murdered by men they live with...in 2000 in australia 144 women were murdered 100 of these were by the men they called their lover or exlover it would be probably a much higher statistic in america i study the silence of the lambs...call me clarisse from now on please...then naturally you assume their children are doomed to a life of depression and anonymity as the silence buries them...yet dave is evidence this is not the case...rise above it's called...phoenix from the ashes...something one should not just ignore or sweep under the carpet out of political correctness...something which would suggest his leanings towards aggression in his music taste and his love of caskets and crypts...his wedding invites at the morgue...his predilection for black...dark shadows...a hand reaching through the fog of denial because hush!!!!...silence of the lambs
Posted by: karen at April 30, 2007 11:35 PM
...and it's heartwarming to see how devoted you lot are to dave...really must almost make up for that loss...but honestly amidst all the glam and the glitz he must have some very dark moments and that 72 hour watch pic made me think about how dark they must get...hambre del alma... the dark night of the soul...but a true friend is a brother in times of distress not just someone who's there for the party...ha jesus said that not seinfeld k

Just stoppin' by for a quick Hello.
Hey Dave, remember what you said on a previous CFR about Cali cigarettes and how they burn out half-way through? Well, I have now discovered that Kansas smokes do exactly the same thing...and yes, it still gets on my fucking nerves as much as when I lived in CA.
Just thought you might want to know...
Take Care,

mary the mother of jesus is sometimes represented as our lady of dolours...not as in $$$$;)her heart pierced by seven swords bit like the kind in the tpc logoand a tear permanently suspended from her eye...her grief is her glory...nowadays the word sad is used contemptously and one is rejected as a dim witted loser if one is thought of as sad...consumer society cannot tolerate it...consumer culture sells antidotes in edible form...injectible form...avoiding the angel of healing by dealing...with it...dave does the opposite his music is about dark issues like this not about his brand of cigarettes

Posted by: Savvy1007 at May 1, 2007 04:09 AM
Thank you Karen, we are learning so many things:
There is a connexion between Dave's predilection for "darkness" and the fact that his mum was murdered, it's better to overcome adversity than succombing to it, people tend to hide unpleasant aspects of life because of political correctness, consumer culture uses people sadness... I, too, sometimes express half clichés with the air of one inspired (just because in the country of blind, the one-eyed man is king).
One line got my attention though, but it's not yours: "I fake it so real I am beyond fake". That's damn good.

Listened to CFR. Do you think it is ironic that despite there being more outlets for music, there are in fact fewer music choices and bands being promoted?
Posted by: Schwing at May 1, 2007 07:55 AM
wtf?
i don't think anyone has the right to say, this is how someone else is feeling. It's insensitive, (false)psychological exploitation of someone elses tragedy. :(
...i probably shouldn't be feeding it.
Much love to Dave.

I'm starting to wish I never mentioned Karen and her posts, or the Jesus thing ( I never said Jesus was posting to Karen.....but who knows?). The Karen comment was kindly meant and it appears she's taking an Internet beating.
Can we give the mother discussion a rest as well please cos unless we've walked in the same shoes we have no real knowledge or right to comment. Although all the comments are meant to be supportive they could be offending or upsetting.
CFR made me feel old, I remember B&W TVs that you had to get up to change channel on and switch off, rotary dial phones, etc. One of my overwhelming childhood memories was my astonishment at watching the Incredible Hulk for the first time in colour, up until that point I had no idea he turned green when he got angry!!
Sorry, My Chemical Romance completely and utterly do my head in, I just cannot bear to watch or listen to them. I find their whole image overblown and insincere - completely fake. I very rarely let 'an image' influence me so strongly that I won't listen to a band, however, I find them so offensive that their music is ruined for me. That's not to say, I won't like something of theirs in the future, just not at present.
There two switch-offs for me, MCR and David Caruso(sp?) thinking he can act in CSI Miami.
Further to a comment above about being moved by music - that's generally how I'll pick up on music as well. One of the reasons I ended up finding 6767 was the guitar playing on OHM. I've no problem with John Frusciante's playing, I just much prefer Dave's 'sound'. I couldn't describe why, just a feeling. Getting a 'feeling' about a band or music, is rare it seems and is all the more pleasurable when discovered! MCR evoke a different feeling!!
Right, I'll get off my MCR bashing soapbox and go watch CSI LV.
Enjoy your Tuesday.......SB

Dave,
you have Katie Price/Jordan as a friend on the MySpace page???!!! Beware, you'll never get any media coverage again, cos her huge breasts will smother out ANY competition! The UK 'gossip' mags are full of her breasts pushed into some form or another of tight clothing. (not that I read them of course, no no never!) Perhaps the thought of being smothered by Jordan's huge siliconed breasts in a media battle is not so bad......

and they asked Jesus ... "how does a man get into Heaven?"
Jesus said "He must drink from the river of forgetfulness and be reborn."
I'm not really sure what that totally means but I do know this .... if we never leave here will will never get there ..... there being Heaven ...
maybe some people get to go there sooner ....
it also says in the Bible that everything that is here is there in Heaven ....
Go ahead and laugh if you want ..... but ....I had a dream one night I was in Heaven and it was beautiful there ..... it was like here but whole lot better .... and there were no shadows (even indoors) just a golden light that was every where illuminating everything ....

jesus said ''come 2 me as lil children...the kingdom belongs to such as these'' because they aren't fake...i've seen the pic of dave sitting next to his mum on a DN site she was a pretty blonde he must have released this photo for publication...he looks about 4 years old there but apparently he started playing at 11 so no doubt she did hear him play...and he must feel her presence around him because i know love conquers the great divide ...they are bono's words not courtney's...i can handle a lil beating false accusations whatever something else christ teaches...katie's (jordan's)boy was born blind lots of people's lives are touched by tragedies and a good set of silicon breasts are no compensation for raising a blind child...hopefully retinal research will one day overcome that and dispel the dark eh!!

Lookit bro, it all boils down to this: what happened to last few projects you've been in? Simply put, when things weren't going your way, you bailed. The music industry is filled with big time dissapointments and major obstacles, but those who want it bad stick to their thing and never, ever, give up. (C'mon, you remember!)
My point in writing this is to tell you that as an outsider, as a fan, as someone gives a shit, it's really hard to get all excited about your next new thing (i.e Spread Entertainment) when as a fan you know that ultimately there isn't really going to be much persistence behind it and that this too, will eventually fizzle out just like everything else.
There are too many other choices out there, Dave, too many other hungry people who haven't made it who want it really f*cking bad. Did you forget where you are?
Yes, the record industry is suffering right now but people who feel music in their every cell in their body find a way to make it happen -- no matter what. Fans will always need music in their lives and if means that you have to tour in a crappy van again then so be it, my friend. But no one struggles forever either and you have to be willing to experience some major discomfort again if you want to once again be where you once were.
What about Steve Isaacs, Perry Farrel or Carmen Electra?. It's starting to smell like dead bodies around here, bro. As a fan we've followed all these realtionships and we were pullingfor you each time! Correct me if Im wrong but it just seems like these people gave you everything you bailed because things weren't exactly perfect for you. Get back into the music and make a commitment to stay with something, even if it gets hard. Forget heroin, forget sex addiction and escapism, bro! Reality will keep on slapping you in the face until you make the commitment to look it directly the eye and fight back.
