CFR All New Tonight

Here is last night's CFR.

1. Do you watch The World Poker Tour, and would you ever consider becoming a professional poker player?

Yes, I do! I watch it almost too much. In fact, I have Poker as a keyword in my recorder so I pretty much watch them all. My favorite is High Stakes Poker where the pros get together and play with their own real money. As far turning pro, I don't think that is such a good idea because I don't play consistently enough. I have definitely thought of entering the World Series or WPT once in my life just to have done it.

2. I remember reading all about Angelyne and your fascination for her in your book. Just wondering if her name ever comes up nowadays.

Actually, yes. We have spoken several times since and I plan to invite her to be a guest on the Internet show when the time comes.

3. On the last tour one of your guitars had a "pin up" girl on it. Is it a certain pin up girl or just one you liked?

That was a special homage to my friend, Gina Lynn, who I had recently met at the AVNs in January.

4. Will the (SE) material be censored to an extent like CFR, or is your content/language going to be able to be free-flowing like on SRL? I'm guessing the latter, but I'm not sure.

It'll be free flowing and uncensored for sure. The show will have a loose structure that can be toyed with on a given night depending on how well or poorly conversations are going.

5. With the new SRL Inc. are you going to sign any bands?

Possibly in the future, but as it stands the new show is not a "music show." When we have musicians on the show it will be more about who they are as people and what makes them tick more than a platform to "promote" stuff. As for signings and starting a label, that would be down the road. Of course we will be all about the music on SRL, but SE is more about variety and people.

ARGH!!! I wish we had the option to magically delete our comments when they fuck up. Apologies.

- I remember reading all about Angelyne and your fascination for her in your book. Just wondering if her name ever comes up nowadays. Have you two met again since the experience described in the book?

- On the SRL homepage there was mention of Carmen Electra hosting her own "Electronica" hour. Is this something that is still scheduled to happen?

Thanks!

On SRL yesterday you lightly broached the topic of an e-sex experience. Did you already have a genuine, pre-existing physical attraction for your e-sex "partner" or was it a more carefree, porn-like adventure for you? Text only or were there e-photos too? I'm figuring if you brought it up on the air it's not too intrusive to ask about and get your thoughts...

Maybe I'm asking a question you guys can address on CFR, but if you don't...
What is the status of the project you and Neil were working on together last year, something about a series for FOX?
love,
jezzi(I want tickets!!!)

Posted by: jezebel at April 21, 2007 04:22 PM

Dave - from the limited radio and TV stuff I've heard and seen you on (I've stumbled across the re-runs of RSSN in the UK and have watched a few) you don't come across as a brainless idiot rock star, but as a smart, quick-witted man who doesn't take much shit and likes to win an argument. Speaking purely as an observer on the periphery, there appears to me to be a lot of idiots in the entertainment business. In your various projects do you ever get treated like an idiot, does it frustrate you, can you use it to your advantage or have you never had a problem?

(P.S. Or ARE you really an idiot?..........sorry had to write that, it's my dubious SOH)

Curiosity led me from finding out who played guitar on OHM, through searching out if you'd done anything else on iTunes and Amazon and finally to 6767 and CFR. If there hadn't been some sort of intelligent wit in this somewhere I wouldn't be reading or posting as I am way too old to be fooled for long by appearance only.

Hi everyone......SB

So do you ever reflect on alternate possibilities, ie- if you'd have participated in the post Izzy G'N'R back in the day, etc?

and just a couple randoms...

~You guys have had quite an array of guests on CFR...who has been your favorite to share air time with and why?

Global warming and how we use energy is certainly the topic of recent times. As someone whose life revolves around all things electrical, have you changed anything you do in recent years to cut down on energy use?

Awesome CFR last night!! I wasn't bored once, really interesting convo.

Shouldn't you just be yourself instead of having to act a certain way or having to use tactics around the opposite sex...isn't that an insecurity in itself?

thanks!!!

Hi,

If in the near future you had a daughter, would you be totally happy for her to work as a topless dancer in a strip club or be an infamous porn actress when she grew up?

Wouldn't you sort of feel a bit wierd having your own daughter doing that stuff?

Come on - be truthful!

Why do I always get singled out by the 'gamer' guys?
I don't really want to be. I don't like it. Honesty I do like, but most of this is game stuff deviously used. Not saying by you or Mr Strauss. I'm saying by lots of men. A woman is led to think she is 'special' only to find out the guy (s) have used the same tactics with other women. It makes you feel not so special anymore.
btw, I really enjoyed CFR last night. It was refreshing to hear intelligent insightful witty conversation between you and Neil.

Alway me to step upon my soapbox for a moment. Dating games... Basically people who have baggage and send mixed messages as a defense mechanism because they feeel they are about to be "had" or "played" and are not healed from their last relationship to be vonerable enough to relax and enjoy some casual fun.

So I have a rememdy. A few months ago I had a dog trainer come over and help out with reconditioning my dogs unwanted behavior. She gave me this groovy little collar that is conveniently water proof! It works like this:

Jane: So honey you wanna go out for some sushi?
Dick: Hellz no!!!!!! Raw fish, sick biatch!
Collar: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Dick: Sushi and sex will be great. Have I told you how lovely you look today??

See no more dating problems!

Hi Dave,
Heard part of your broadcast last pm. Enjoyed
hearing the interchange between you and Neil
Strauss. Intrigued to hear you bring up the
subject of the long-standing relationship with
the female friend. In that light, wondering
what became of your relationship with "Tori"--
who would have had to love you a whole bunch to
hang in there with you through all of that chaos!
Friendships change as we grow older, sometimes
wiser. Did your friendship with "Tori" withstand
the storm? If I have ever wanted to cheer for
the "home team", that gal would have gotten a
blue ribbon.
Glad you're still here with us, dear heart!

Get Billy to do his version of you next time!
Wicked CFR. Neil Strauss fascinating - his work ethos is like method acting. Brilliant to hear that conversation - the one all the way through the pain in the book I wanted to read, the one where you were straight and healthy.
Also really funny in places too cos he hated arguing you with you then too. Great dynamic.

Regarding long standing relationships with members of the opposite sex...is it possible without sex, even once?

I'm thinking about the scene in Harry met Sally, where Harry says it's impossible for a man and woman to be friends without sex, one of them always secretly wants to sleep with the other one.

I have the answer Jez. :D :P
Neil was asking about that to Dave, and my answer from experience of being friends with guys, and I've tended to be friends more with guys throughout my life than with women. (refer to my how girly are you? quiz. answer: 20% girly are you sure you're not a guy?)
The guys get girlfriends and then wives, partners; and guess what happens? Bye bye friendship. As I've gotten older, I've lost more and more friends.

How long have you been planning SE, would you have imagined it in this incarnation, initialy, years ago?

Posted by: Spencer at April 22, 2007 06:08 PM

My take on friendship: A friend is anyone you connect with on some special level at some point in your life. Someone you can have a great time with, outside OR inside the bedroom, or both, depending on your situation. If we're lucky, we'll all have many kinds of freinds throughout life.

Anyway, very interesting CFR last night - the time seemed to fly. (Which was the only bad down side.) Hopefully you'll have Neil on again.

SE sounds amazing... quite groundbreaking. I look forward to it!

Cheers all,

Oops.,. I meant friends. Though freinds are great too. :)

I don't even know where to start with the whole thing. But the feminist side of me starts to get annoyed just at the thought of the "game" suggested by Neil Strauss(though I do admit to never having read the book, I didn't actually want to though after reading the description). I suppose he would just suggest it was just an observation of that in actual life rather than a suggestion…. but why choose that as what you observe or notice in life? Sounds like Mr. Strauss has an obsession with fame and power…to feel what he thinks it is like for most of the people whom he writes about. But I could be wrong.

But altogether, I guess that I am just not that interesting in how to become a pickup artist. I am more interested in finding the right person for me.

;) mmm i thought pick ups were things on guitars...keep it free and keep it flowin and keep it goin;)dave would you do another solo album or did you measure the credibility of your solo work against it's economic viability...as for the magic 8 ball in your mouth...you say it best when you say nuthin at all...ha i've been listening to ronan keating this morn...this is your song i wrote it 4 you...friends are people who would crawl across cut glass for you the rest are acquaintances...too true sadly;)

Posted by: karen at April 22, 2007 08:08 PM

I'm addicted to this website : ) LoL

The CFR was great .... you guys are really funny ... nice listening to intelligent conversation .....

that question ..... Should you stay with a girl who's threatened by a long time female friend?

here's a multiple answer ...... : )

A. not if you are the kind of guys who has lots of girls around you. Some girls just can't handle that.

B. yes, if you don't have much of a social life except for that female friend. Your girl friend will figure out she's really not a threat.

C. do nothing and wonder why you picked this girl to be with in the first place.

*******
just for the record ..... if a guy tries to talk to me in a bar .... I'll talk but if I'm not interested ...... it's usually because I see things about him that I wouldn't want to deal with if I got with him .....

but if it was not a long term thing .... I may put up with him if he turns me on .....

.... I don't think it's about looks, fame or meeting a man with the ultimate hook up plan ......

I think it's about Chemistry ......

that's not an easy thing to control ......

Posted by: fusciah at April 22, 2007 09:03 PM

i failed chemistry...just add DN and me and a lil H20 and its spa time baby...ha i'm not that into men in bars i've worked topless in them for 7 seven years with exotic dancers...

Posted by: karen at April 22, 2007 09:46 PM

Here's a question...How come no "official' statement regarding Steve Isaacs' move to NYC..other than a brief mention on SRL...just cuz I think the 6767 family that missed that show would probably like a chance to wish him well?

Posted by: karen at April 22, 2007 09:57 PM

Karen, are you a stripper? I danced from '92-'96 and didn't hate it. Drunk for half and sober the other.

Hey Dave,

i think you should add you should combine 6767 with your past jonny/dave movie reviews. Go see movies, throw in your 2 cents. It never ruined the movie, but it was honest about what happened.

Posted by: Six7Six7 at April 23, 2007 01:06 AM

if isaacs has moved to nyc so be it. if none of you got it last night, it was for the love of a girl and if it was right...so be it. good for him. and if that means that there is a new dn and siggy w/perkins project i'm all for a hellz yeah and move forward. and if not and tpc regroups and reorgs...well motherfuckit in a bucket! hellz yeah!

let's just wish spooky the best and hope that he finds a "happy place."

move forward people...the time is now and it is time to look forward to a new day.

i'm goin' to shut up and go to bed.

I've managed to listen to the first half hour of CFR so I will join everyone else with my view of the girl friend/girlfriend situation. For me it would be:-

1)a major trust issue, if the new girl/boyfriend didn't believe me that there was no threat, then what else would they not trust me on? Sorry, don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.....

2) if they were bitching about this friendship, what else would they bitch about in the future? I doubt I could tolerate the hassle and bitching and it would be easier to to end it. Door/ass thing again.

3) a method of control which I would end up resenting. Fine - communicate about any issues, but don't try to tell me who I should be friends with, etc. Again door/ass.....

They would have a "well scelped arse" at the end of it! I'm not sure how to spell 'skelped' but that's the phonetic spelling.

Actually, putting in my point of view has reminded me that my sister has the misfortune of being in a long-term relationship with someone who, whilst not controlling, can make life very unpleasant for her if he doesn't like her doing something or meeting/speaking to her family and friends. If I was going to be up at 2am (I'm 8 hours ahead)sometime in the future, I was going to ring Billy and Dave for advice as to how to get rid of my sister's loser boyfriend. Partly as a joke but also in case they came up with something I hadn't thought of. I would actually be more than happy to get a door and give the loser boyfriend several whacks on the ass and elsewhere if I knew it would do any good. Maybe I can get one of those dog collars.

Anyway I have totally digressed. I have managed to miss every SRL in the last week. I haven't explored the myspace page, etc. totally yet for info, but can anyone give me a rough idea as to when they are normally so that I know for sure when I'm missing them! 8 hours ahead thing, etc. etc.

Oh yes, thanks to Anny!

Oh yes again, I wondered whether the reason for the Sunday 5s instead of 10s was because Dave was subtly grading us F - must try harder - for our questions.

Happy Monday to everyone......SB

Also, with the whole best friend of the opposite sex thing - my best friend is male and he has now just got married for the second time. Bless him. The first wife was a complete bitch, she refused to let us have a friendship so we had to meet up privately - she said it was "abnormal" - she was so controlling she even turned up on his stag night!! He still married her - fool - it was awful to watch him be so miserable. After 2 years he left, he's happy now and our friendship has always outlasted our relationships. That would be because he is my best friend and that's unconditional love. AND yeah ok we got the sex out the way years ago!! Got over it and moved forwards! Now he's my brother - and it would be incest!

I wrote a couple days ago: "Oh yeah and what was the name of that Japanese band that Neil played the really cool sludgy track from?"

The band is Boris, I finally tracked it down. Good shit!

anny what was that song by peter gabriel...you know your stripper from your paint you know your sinner from your saint...ha well that's an apt description...definitely'fun' with lil stress besides the odd rip in the fishnets...i like to multitask like dave...hard to stay sober in a job where every guy in the house wants to shout you a drink or two or three but i drove 100s of ks to some destinations used to be the designated driver for a few of the other girls who'd crashed their cars liked to keep my eyes on the road and my hands upon the wheel i have a responsible service of alcohol and no car insurance no room for mistakes... you get to see guys during their male bonding sessions without any other females present they let down their guard and let you into the realm of the male psyche at it's most uninhibited and rawly honest especially after they've had a few drinks whereas their wives and girlfriends get told whatever it takes to placate them...i plan on writing a book called ''women are from mars and men are from lingerie bars'' ha a take off from that women are from venus men are from mars bestseller by gray...hilariously funny stuff...i spose it has made me a lil nonchalant about the male libido ...female jealousy and the dynamics of relationships...trust is a beautiful word...it's luminescent...totally intangible and divine...it brings peace but it always invloves risk ...trust is faith in action...it takes a lot of trust to accomplish any sporting/musical/artistic/ achievement let alone a relationship and then the world is hellbent on tearing trust down in everything from god to our water supply...anyway...enough...in 1991 perry farrell created lollapalooza a groovy jamboree that lasted 7 years why wasn't i there:)he apparently organised one in chicago with g.love...the kaiser chiefs and weezer...was dave involved with organising fests like this?think'd be fun to be one of those festival organisers
