Sunday 10 & CFR

(Yeah, I don't have a Getty Images passowrd!)

Here is last night's CFR.

1. When you say you "hosted a party at...," -- does hosting mean JUST hosting/playing or does it mean you foot the bill for the whole shindig?

It means that I am hosting a party at a particular establishment and can invite whoever I want and kind of spend the evening with friends and family as well as any fans or general public that want to bring in the night with us. These things usually take place at a venue that is up and running so there really isn't a bill to speak of. I suppose if I was "throwing" a party it would be different.

2. Any word on a new season of Rockstar?

No, not yet. I do think that if it does happen, it would probably be in the fall and not the summer... But don't quote me on that. I am not 100% certain.

3. Most treasured possessions?

Actually I don't really own a lot of stuff as I like to be streamlined and able to move around at a moment's notice. I have my gear, my car, my computers, my clothes and my bathroom stuff and that's about it. Every couple of years I go through all of my stuff and sell it, throw it away or give it to the Salvation Army. I really don't like clutter so living streamlined keeps both my home and my head organized.

4. Why do you think the obsession with celebrities has exploded in the last few years and what does it say about today's society?

I blame the advent of the digital camera. EVERYBODY has a camera now. Combined with the Internet and the interest in celebrity gossip, which has always been there, it makes for everything to end up as a story. The bad news is that the most ridiculous and simple nothing of a story makes the news, but the good news is that SO much gets reported that these stories always last for about five minutes. As for what it says about society, I am not too sure. People have always had a morbid fascination in things. I mean... They have always slowed down to take a look when there is a traffic accident.

5. What type of artwork will spread entertainment be exhibiting/selling? Is it open to everyone?

It will be open to all and the first thing we are going to exhibit is this long awaited photobooth show that I have admittedly been dropping the ball on. Now that I am home, I am focusing my efforts to get it together along with some of the things that Todd and I are planning for the Spread TV thing.

6. Your secret to your multitasking energy is?

I pretty much just take on things that I enjoy. I get bored doing the same thing over and over so I like to mix it up all the time with different projects, cities and walks of life. I don't really know what the secret is. Maybe I just boil it all down to the fact that all you have to do is "show up," and things happen as a result. When I use the phrase "show up" I basically mean for life.

7. Do you ever use an alias when going to public places, like checking into a hotel, making reservations, or those sorts of things?

Sometimes I do. The last one I used was Kenneth H. Dahlberg. Dahlberg was the Midwest finance chairman for the Committee to Re-elect the President during President Richard M. Nixon's 1972 campaign. A check made out to Dahlberg in the amount of $25,000.00 had been deposited into the bank account of a real estate firm owned by Bernard Barker, one of the Watergate burglars. Yeah, I'm a huge fan of "All The President's Men."

8. If you could have a parallel life, not change the one you have now... But have a co existing life, what would you like that life to be like?

Who is to say that I don't have one already?

9. Whatever happened to the relationship advice segment of CFR?

You know, I think we just forgot about it. Thanx for the reminder.

10. What do you miss most about being on tour?

I'd say having absolutely no responsibilities with the exception of playing every night. That, and being around the guys all the time.

Can't believe I was first!!! Love you Dave! Great seeing you in those Versaces! Would love to see you out of them too!! Love A Peach

Hope you haven't been asked this ten thousand times and apologies if you have but... Most treasured possessions?
I ask cos a new friend just sent me something completely unexpected today - an entire dvd stacked full of the earliest ever appearances of RHCP (and I thought I had seen everything.) Am completely blown away.
So, not talking necessarily monetary value here -but the things that touch you the most, the things you wouldn't want to ever lose.
Thank you.

1. Have you seen 300?
2. Will you be in attendance with the other Femmes and Phantoms Tuesday night?
3. Have you checked out the new Hustler casino?
4. We love the webcam in the CFR studios, but it's TOO DARK!!! Anything you can do?
5.You are so good at either turning the other cheek or giving back exceptionally witty comebacks when the press hounds you. Has Carmen come to you for advice regarding her recent attacks by the celebrity blogosphere, or is she a seasoned pro like yourself?

All the best to the family!
see you guys in the chatroom!

Very good question Mary...this summer just won't be the same without the show. I did hear that they haven't even started auditions yet and are still uncertain whether or not Rockstar will be back for another season. I also heard that if they do have a 3rd season, it will probably be this fall. I got this link from another website I go to,

http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/blog/index.jsp?uuid=bc6ad373-34d6-462d-87d5-44f29a79a53d

Check out the 3rd paragraph.

You can send letters to this address requesting that the Rockstar series come back for another season:

Ghen Maynard
Executive Vice President
CBS Paramount Network Television Entertainment Group
7800 Beverly Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90036

You can also send an e-mail for the same thing and the link is:

http://www.cbs.com/info/user_services/fb_global_form.shtml

I've sent a letter and several e-mails and so have many people from the other website where I got this information, which is www.supernovafans.com

Hi there Dave =)

I am looking forward to hearing CFR Tonight!

I have a question for the Sunday 10.

I heard the local radio station ask Tommy Lee this question, and thought it was an interesting one...

If you could have a parallel life, not change the one you have now.. but have a co existing life, what would you like that life to be like?

Much Resepct to you Dave,

Whatever happened to the relationship advice segment of CFR? What was it called? CFR Boudoir?

Posted by: Caffeinated Sue at March 24, 2007 02:43 PM

hey Dave

looking forward to camp freddy radio tonight

seeing the father and son (Donovan) sing together on stage must have been a very thrilling moment in music

i saw Donovan (the father) headline a show in KC, Mo. with the Moody Blues and Trapeze back in the early 70's

a happy spring to you and TPC and the 6767 family

i am going to start celebrating my 59th birthday (it is march 25) early this year by drumming alot over the next 2 days
as you have said many times playing music / being creative gets a person thru the rough times in an amazing way

thanks for the inspiration and great music and the place to write

peace to you--all the 6767 family--and everyone

Posted by: Gregory at March 24, 2007 03:17 PM

Hey D & Fam (feels good to say that again!),
So, hope you've decompressed enough now...do you have plans for the photobooth exhibit yet? You know if you need east coast help all you have to do is ask Deena and the girls ;).

Also, what's up with the FX show and Spread Entertainment?

oh--one more:
What do you think of the whole "free" ozzfest concept? I have to admit I'm a little suspicious because it apparently entails signing up with sponsors for the "free" tickets...but I'm going--gotta see the ozzman and Billy and CD!

Happy weekend, everyone!

Love,

Very good question. There always seems to be that certain type of person who loves nothing more than putting someone else down, for no other reason that to attempt to make themselves feel better about themselves. Feeling good about yourself and your life should never come at the expense of another person. I can't stop myself from putting someone like that in their place.

Posted by: Leigh Ane at March 24, 2007 03:35 PM

Ditto on the 'parallel life' question...(esp, after viewing some of these posts!). Though I rarely check-in here, I personally think that you are very gutsy for posting your inner-thoughts for all to view and comment upon w/o sensorship. I am not that brave and my ego is far too fragile. I respect you for allowing this discourse on your lifestyle choices, and although I've been known to be judgemental too...how does that saying go? "Judge not, lest ye be judged." Is that the ONe?

That's why I asked, because I have been known to do the same thing on other posts...and while I think it's the right thing to do, if it annoys the ever-loving piss out of Dave, I would stop.

I'm not going to ask what your plans are because you probably would have let us know if you had anything concrete on the agenda...

so...

What are you feeling in the mood to do over the next few months? Stay local and have fun close to home? Continue to travel and have a good time all over the place? Write music? Get the SpreadTV thing going?

The east coast misses you...

Spreading the love,
Deena

What can we expect from The panic channel in the next couple of months, any plans yet.

All the best

Posted by: Erica at March 24, 2007 05:37 PM

In regards to the Photo booth exhibit. Where do you plan on having the display? Maybe at M.Manson's new art gallery in Hollywood? If so is all the proceeds going to charity and are the prices going to be bided on or just sold as is with a fixed price? Inivte only or general public? Just curious?

Be well...

Posted by: brett at March 24, 2007 05:40 PM

One more thing, if you come back to toronto to perform, check out the kool haus. It is a warehouse type venue, no seats, we are allowed as close to the stage as the artists will allow us and there is a bar on every wall. It would be a perfect place for The panic channel.

Awesome! Listening to CF radio right now.

There are too many great Sunday 10 questions.

Here goes...

You've collaborated with a lot of great singers and musicians....
1. Currently who is on top of your list that you'd love to collaborate with. How does that go down?
2. Why are Camp Freddy shows local (LA/LV)? Recently CF has played Miami.
Any plans for Camp Freddy to play other major cities? If yes, where and when.

Thanks Dave!

DAVE'S INNER thoughts?!

Well, if what he's posting on this blog is his deepest INNER thoughts, then he's obviously very shallow!

Ha ha ha!

I would hardly call this blog his inner thoughts. I mean, has he been posting soul searching poetry about his break up with Carmen? Or his heartfelt feelings towards family, friends, porn stars, etc? No.

No, the deepest thing we get is his views on the latest episode of Lost, what fun he is having at parties and the fact he intends to hit the casinos (again).

I'm not knocking this, it makes a fun read, but if you think Dave is sharing his deepest inner feelings, you are deluded.

Morning, Dave.

CFR was fun last night. I love the whole deal about Starbucks-speak. I'm a rural, east coaster kind of gal, and we just got our first Starbucks a few months ago. I still don't get it. Seriously, if there is foam in my coffee, it really just means that I didn't rinse the cup well enough after I washed it...for all of you fluent in Starbucks, that would be a grande soap-a-latte.

Another CFR topic...I had heard about the self extinguishing cigs by way of the California lawsuits. It seems that the new paper creates more risk for the burning tobacco to fall from the cigarette without any assist from the smoker. Add to that the fact that the new "reduced incendiary propensity" paper is being referred to as "RIP" by cigarette manufacturers, and you can kind of see why the marketing folks were having a tough time getting the word out to consumers. hehehe Go figure!

Okay, Sunday 10 question and keeping it in the CFR mode: What's the possibility of Camp Freddy actually locking in the four-stop tour (Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas)that you suggested last night? We love it when you head for the east coast, Dave.

Hope this note finds you well. Thanks for keeping things fun. God bless!

Paula ;-)

I'm just curious - when you say you "hosted a party at...." and you go somewhere to host - in the world of rock n roll - does hosting mean JUST hosting/playing or does it mean you foot the bill for the whole schindig? I don't know much about all of this - sorry if it seems like a 'duh' kind of Q.
Take care - Love & Blessings to You.

Hey, I am such a fan! I saw you in PGH, (3 hours travel time) and that show was just the best! My friend and I got a ton of pictures, the venue was just awesome, that old church. The size of the crowd was perfect for an intimate show. The only thing...we so wanted an autograph. Now here is the geekiest fan question, is there a way to get an autograph on my ticket? And just as an odd note, I had a dream last night, you were plucking my eyebrows. It was so intense being that close (in a dream) I woke up and tryed to go back to sleep haha

Dave, here's a question--if the regulars here see questions that we know the answers to, do you prefer we help out and post the answer on here, or STFU? Seriously, I see lots of questions that we've heard you answer in the past, and I'm pretty sure you won't address them again, and then they'll get asked repeatedly because the person doesn't realize that you have already answered...yeah, they could go back and read the blogs but at this point it's a lot to digest. It's a grey area for me, I like to help out (and so do others here) but I feel slightly uncomfortable answering for you even if it's a direct quote from the blog, I mean, who asked me? I guess you get what I'm saying.

Happy Sunday, D & Fam--it's a beautiful day!

Love,
Sue

(except for the insidious myspace not letting me log in--who knew I grew so used to being able to access it that it frustrates me now that I can't?! Very sneaky, Tom, you bastard.)

Mags, D, and Toby and the Juke Kartel boys were all spotted at Storm's after-RSSN show in Portland. Some TPC members were seen, but were you absent or just laying low?

What's the craziest thing you've ever had on a tour rider?

Posted by: Craig at March 25, 2007 10:57 AM

Hello all, it's been awhile since I commented here, but I've been checking the blog obsessively. :p Hope everyone's doing well and having a great weekend! Glad to hear you've been having such a blast, Dave. :)

A couple questions for Sunday 10:

1)Do you ever get tired of people asking for your take on celebrity mishaps? (I ask because the media always seems to consult fellow celebrities when someone messes up or has a problem, regardless of whether or not they have a connection other than both being famous.)

2.) Do you ever use an alias when going to public places, like checking into a hotel, making reservations, or those sorts of things? I know some bands do, and they sometimes come up with some hilarious names.

Thanks so much for keeping us posted!

Lots o' love,
~Ali

What are people's thoughts on air travel?
Dave has too many other questions to answer.
What does everyone else at 67 think?
Are you comfortable with flying or would you rather drive if possible?
I only ask this because my mom's new BF keeps taking her on all these trips every month.
I think she travels more often than Dave.
I keep worrying that she'll die in a plane crash and I'll have no parents left. Sometimes I feel like Sandra Bullock in Premonition. I've only flown once and it scared the hell out of me. And that was BEFORE 911. There was a story in one of my Chicken Soup books about a girl who went through a hijacking. She kept repeating the Serenity Prayer over and over again in her head. "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." Fortunately, she lived to tell her story.
*****
Am I just being paranoid?

Posted by: Francesca at March 25, 2007 11:15 AM

Well francesca, I once got on a plane then we saw all this smoke everywhere and it had to land again because of a fire.

Don't want to freak you out or anything, but.....

Out of interest, has anyone ever been on a plane that got struck by lightning?

Posted by: Marina at March 25, 2007 11:34 AM

What's with the lack of the TPC hoodie in the TPC store? I'm highly saddened since I haven't been able to get mine yet. Will it be coming back?

Sue what a great question! I often wonder the same thing when I see a question that's been answered. Sometimes I'll just answer it (if its not a Sun 10 day) but I often wonder if that's Kosher w/ DN. :)

Posted by: ambersonian at March 25, 2007 12:16 PM

On the subject of plane accidents, I was on once once that got caught up in a storm, and I knew things were bad because one of the air hostesses was crying.

But I do hear it is the safest form of travel.

re: flying

francesca, if your mom loves to travel with her new bf than god bless...personally i'm scared to fly. however, i never let it hold me back because i LOVE to travel. its part of the fun to get that rush right before take-off, but for sure its scary. i calm myself by thinking i'd much rather die on an airplane than in some crappy hospital or something. but dont worry so much. you mom is living large with her new man and that rocks! they should take you too ;)

Hello Family!

Dave...are you feeling uneasy at all about approaching the BIG 4-0???

Francesca...I have to admit, I'm a nervous flyer, I don't really love it but I'm damn sure not going to let it slow me down.

I believe life plays out the way it's meant to so, I try not to worry excessively over things I can't control....altough it does take effort sometimes :)

Posted by: Cori at March 25, 2007 01:06 PM

I don't mind travelling by plane but I prefer driving. It has nothing to do with any sort of fear of a crash -- you just have more time to take in the sights when you drive. By that logic I guess I prefer walking to driving, but then I would never get anywhere.

The other thing that I hate about traveling by plane is having to give up control of your environment and having to deal with the crush of humanity and being funneled through the terminal like so many cattle.

DAVE...
1) Is it just me or does the intro to RHCP's "Readymade" sound a whole lot like the beginning of "Mountain Song"?
2) I was flipping channels on HDTV and caught a flash of you (Dave) walking (without a shirt on) and talking to some lady (interview?) and wondered if you or TPC or CF had a performance aired on one of the HDTV channels that I missed?
3) Why did the people at VH1 not include you in their Celebrity Poker tournament?

Much love from Tejas!

Hi Dave and Family.

Dave I was wondering what you think about the US Weekly Article last week about young Hollywood being really into partying hard. And what do you think about the media saying that these days going to rehab in a good career move? And final questions, what do you think about celebrities having 'YES' people in there circle?

Since you have been in those party days I was just wondering what you think about these young actors doing so many drugs and drinking hard.

I hope that everyone here is doing well. Much love to everyone. Kisses, CC

Hi Dave. :-) Cool, cool. I've been waiting with great interest and lively anticipation for your Spread Entertainment and Spread TV projects to launch. Can't wait to see what y'all do with those. :-) As for the 'photobooth show,' that has virtually gained mythical and legendary properties, at this point, and it hasn't even happened, yet. LOL ;-)

As for #3, I really need to catch your vibe on that one. I started off as a terrible packrat and I'm finally tired of dragging everything around. Doesn't help that I come from a family of *rock* (boulder? ^^) collectors, either. LOL One of the worst tricks my Mom ever played on one of my Uncles was to load up his vehicle with about 3 tons of beautiful mica schist gathered near a BC lake. She hid it all over his car and he couldn't figure out why the engine was working so hard on all the hills, coming back home, or why his seat was so 'rocky' to sit on. LOL ^^ I got it from both sides of the family, too, so I collect delicate little glass minature objects on one side and then Viking-worthy things like swords on the other side. *sigh* LOL There are some genetic combinations that just shouldn't be attempted, for the sake of the planet. LOL ^^

For #4, I love the 'tech toys,' too. But, they usually have a sizable downside to accompany their upside. Technology can be used for amazing things... But, it always sinks towards the lowest common denominator at one and the same time. It's a double-edged blade when it comes to connecting us to and isolating us from each other.

Thanks for the CFR podcast and peace to you and all our peeps. :-)

Re: flying
One word.
Xanax!
Works everytime!

I listened to the podcast, besides you and Billy being on FIRE last night (no pun intended) just a little word about the "new" cigarette issue-We have the same thing in NY. Light a cigarette, put it down for a second-and the muthafucker goes out. So it's not just a Cali thing. AND we don't have issues with wild fires here, just old people that start house fires by falling alseep on the couch while smoking. Maybe that's why.
Also if you end up "head to toe" with Mr. Morrison we want pictures! ;-)

I hope the long anticipated "photo booth exhibit" will be a major city traveling exhibit. Because you know the NY family will want to be there to see it.

To Britney Spears:

Hello sweetie, I just had to get this out of me and published somewhere so why not at Dave's? I just wanted to let you know that we chix who rock care about you, even if you don't think we do~~~ I personally am concerned that the gd 'barber shop' where they let you shave your head by yourself could possibly be looking at a lawsuit from you seeing as they 'let' you potentially endanger yourself and, more than likely, they broke more than 1 State of California health code violations in the process. Please, now that your mind is clean and clear, ask your counsel what, if anything, can be done to prevent this type of thing from happening to another individual, clean or otherwise. Peace to you Britney, and stay strong, for yourself, and for them.
