Sunday 5
Here is last night's Camp Freddy Radio. I can hit a Sunday 10 today...
1. Does your nail polish get chipped when playing guitar?
Of course it does, but that is part of the charm. I prefer it when my nails have that whorish, junky, slutty street trash vibe to them.
2. Is Siggy taking over for Chris in a permanent way?
Honestly, that is an issue we haven't even addressed yet as we have just returned and haven't spoken about it yet. Put it this way... They are both amazing and incredible players and musicians. We can't lose.
3. Also, have you caught RSSN video? I saw the whole clip today. Awesome to see you and Perk in there!!!
Thanx for pointing that out! I had no idea... Rad!
4. You said before you avoid sugar like heroin. Does that mean none ever?
Well, I avoid sugar like heroin, but I also use it like heroin... Meaning that when I DO consume sugar, I go big!
5. Thoughts on Van Halen entering the Hall of Fame?
Every time I hear of a band being inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame, I am always amazed that they aren't in there already. Like last year's Black Sabbath induction. I mean... Who the fuck IS in there anyway? As for VH... It's about time!

Question, I've JUST started to learn the guitar. I'm literally my 6th week into lessons. I'm learning on an old aria acoustic passed down from my mum. Just wondering what advice you have for someone who's 23 and a rank novice.

Posted by: Shane at March 4, 2007 02:10 PM
Here's something I wanted to share with all the party animals out there. I almost caved and emailed it to my ex because he's a heavy drinker, but I stopped myself. It's something I wrote when I was bored.
* * * * *
TO DRINK OR NOT TO DRINK
Someone once said: "for everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens." Drinking is no different. There is a time to drink and a time to refrain from drinking. With this in mind, I compiled these 2 fun lists. I realize that not everyone shares my sense of humor.
REASONS TO DRINK:
1. Networking. Studies have shown that social drinkers earn more money than non-drinkers because drinkers have more and better opportunities to develop business contacts.
2. St. Patrick's Day. It's the second coolest holiday of the year (after Halloween).
3. Christmas. If you're not in the spirit of the season because you're an atheist or the sound of Christmas carols makes you cringe, then alcohol helps to numb the pain. After a while, you might start to like Christmas again.
4. Marriages. If you've been dragged along to your mother's or your sister's third wedding ceremony, you might as well have some fun of your own. After 2 margaritas, you can pretend to be happy about the occasion even if you couldn't care less.
5. Hillary Clinton gets elected president in 2008. You know you like her. There's no use denying it.
6. The Flames win the Stanley Cup. Rock on!
7. The Calgary Stampede. If you can't drink during Stampede, then when can you?
8. Staff functions. If you don't like the people you're with or you're not with any people, then you can find a glass to keep you entertained or to make you more entertaining.
9. Johnny Depp or Sandra Bullock wins an Academy Award. It could happen.
10. Promotions. You finally have the career you wanted. It's destiny, you know.
REASONS NOT TO DRINK:
1. You're the designated driver. This goes without saying.
2. Breakups. Your ex isn't drinking about you or even THINKING about you. He(she)has moved on and is seeing other people now. So why are YOU drinking because of HIM(HER)?
3. Depression. Although it makes you happy, alcohol is actually a depressant. It only worsens this condition. There are other, better ways to deal with depression.
4. The Oilers win the Stanley Cup. This is not very likely considering the recent Ryan Smith trade, but you never know.
5. You have cirrhosis of the liver from a lifetime of heavy drinking. If you have no liver to use up the alcohol, then it has no place to go except your brain.
6. Alcoholism. This one is rather obvious. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic.
7. Your best friend forgot your birthday. People are busy, and they forget things. Let it go.
8. You're deathly ill with a cold or the flu. When combined with some types of cold medicine, alcohol can actually KILL you.
9. Your best friend is spending all of his(her) time with his(her) significant other. Don't drink yourself into oblivion. Find your own BF (GF).
10. Your best friend moved away and doesn't call or write anymore. Find a new best friend and stop grovelling!

Dave,
What are thoughts on the RS Supernova tour and whether or not they will last? I was at the Pala Casino Show in San Diego (not a great venue) and felt that chemistry and energy was lacking from their set. I know you don't want to call out your friends, but, your I would really appreciate your honest opinion on RSS. thanks!

Dave,
Not sure if you are at liberty to say but, is Billy alright? His last post is just a little unnerving. Also, have you caught RSSN video? I saw the whole clip today. Awesome to see you and Perk in there!!! I missed that yesterday. What show was that taped at or is it a mix? Take care and have a good Sunday. Niki

wicked sexy pic - you look great.
watched 3 days this weekend, brilliant that you are so much healthier.
Q: Wondered if you tend to avoid looking at things like that from your past? (Books / DVD).
We've all done things we've grown from (wished we hadn't etc) but just seems so much harder when you're a "public" figure and for all the protective layer you try to develop, isn't it harder cos you're out there for everyone else to see?
Have a happy sunday and sexy week...
Much love

Kristen your comment made me think of a Sun 10 question! Go Barack! haha...
~Steve I. is pretty upfront about his thoughts on political issues, he had some great things to say before "Said You'd Be" on both tours you guys have done. I dont think I've ever heard you talk about your views. Do you purposely avoid political topics when in a public forum so you dont step on toes, or are you just not interested enough in politics to speak out about it?

yo dave,
was just curious what you thought of blind melon in their prime and if you ever played on a bill with them in Jane's? I always thought they were really underated and thought their album "soup" was great. Shannon always had the aura that I think Perry has a bit of? Agree? Anyway, they're reforming with a new front man which I think is cool. I'm sure you won't answer this one but thought I'd ask anyway.

Hey Dave, this is a message for your fans!
Here's the deal. Rock Star is not officially on CBS' summer schedule yet - and it's getting really late...
Kristin Veitch at Eonline reported on her blog that CBS president Nina Tassler "doesn't yet know if Rock Star will be back."
If CBS' president "doesn't yet know," then maybe we can convince her!
So what am I suggesting? How about an old fashion letter writing campaign?
Come on, join us! It'll be fun! And all summer as we watch Dave on our favorite show, we can feel just a little bit proud that we may have helped convince CBS to bring it back...
If you want to join us, come check out our thread on the campaign so far - we've had a few special guests check in already!

Thanks for your time - and I REALLY hope you'll join in!

Thanks for answering the sugar/heroin Q. I've been wondering that myself. I'm seriously addicted to sugar/sweets and trying very hard to break the habit. I avoid caffeine already but it's been a huge prob in the past as well. I'm finding it really difficult to even cut down on the sugar - even though I know it's not good for me - any advice or thoughts on this - I'd love to benefit from the wisdom of your experiences - in my book addictions are addictions - it's just a matter of life threatening severity...so, almost all the advice can help. Anytime you feel like sharing - I'd love to hear what you think.

Glad to read you are back and settled in. You're probably Netflixed out by now, but here's a good one: "F**k". It's a documentary on free speech, or lack thereof, and just the history of the word, well...everything you ever wondered about the word "fuck" and then some. Thought of you, ha ha. I hope you don't start charging membership to your blog like T. Lee does. That would be cold. That would disappoint me. My daughter and I recently saw a Flyleaf at a small venue here in Albuquerque (Sunshine Theater), and they had a good idea that I'll pass onto you. In each city they toured, they had local bands open for them. There were 3 local bands that opened for them, and it was a cozy small venue. I was impressed. Nice idea, promoting the local musicians. I know you stand for the same thing, so thought I'd tell you about it.
Welcome home Dave! That's pretty much what I wanted to write.
