Miami to Vegas
The Miami trip with Camp Freddy was quick, amazing and a lot of fun. We performed in-between two DJ acts, DJ AM & Travis and Paul Oakenfold. We were totally prepared for the audience to be more of the dance oriented type with plenty of yawns during the rocker set, but they were just fantastic with tons of energy and enthusiasm. It was quite a difference from the TV audiences that I am used to playing for during the Supernova shows. Highlights from the show included Disturbed's David Draiman doing Man in the Box and Whole Lotta Love. Damn, can that boy sing! Loud and strong. Steve Jones joined us for Bodies and also sang it. That was a blast. Doing a Sex Pistols song with a Sex Pistol is kind of the only way to go. Mark McGrath brought it with Cat Scratch Fever and Cantrell with Jailbreak. Billy Duffy joined us for Love Removal with Brett Scallions on the mic. It was a killer 90 minute set and after we all kind of split off into different directions into the Miami night. I hosted a party at Mansion and was joined by Jerry, followed by a stop by the new spot, Set. The rest of the night was all about texts flying around between everybody saying, "we are here... come here... no, wait, we left there, now we are here... stop by this..." All in all I think we hit about five places joining up with Donovan, Mark, Duffy, Sorum and all. Naturally, I didn't sleep so when I got home, my nap turned into a 12 hour slumber. Now I am just about to get packing for Vegas. Four days there to do a few things with Versace and then my travel for the month is done.

Yo, Dave!
Have a safe and groovy trip.
Posted by: Junebug at March 19, 2007 08:25 AM
Sounds like it was a great show, your NY area family are sorry we missed it but even if we got a flight down it would have been canceled due to the nor'easter we had. Hope you can make it back up to NY soon...
Have fun in Vegas, and maybe when you get back you can start putting up some of the stuff you and Steve filmed/recorded on tour?
Love,
Sue

But sounds like that CF show was what you needed to recharge the battery!

***** Pathetic Randomness *****
Dave, you're a formidable force to be reckoned with. You've left an endelible mark on the music industry. I always knew you played in Jane's. Then one day I saw your name in the liner notes of my RHCP collection several years ago. I never actually had time to watch RS Supernova, but everyone at work always talked about you and Lukas. Then last week I discovered that you and Flea also played on "You Outta Know". No wonder I wore out that CD. We can't run away from you 'cause you're everywhere. If a dog is man's best friend, then Dave Navarro is a MUSICIAN'S BEST FRIEND. You give me a a reason to smile.. and to pick up my guitar once in a while.
*****
I couldn't find "Trust No One", so I'm having someone order it for me. It seems to be a recurring theme these days. You really can't trust anybody. IMO. I learned this the hard way. I did however pick up Jane's greatest and Supernova. I'm currently addicted to SN's "Headspin" and "Valentine".
I'm also addicted to a beautiful acoustic arrangement called "Love Song" by Tesla. It's an amazing song to help you get over someone or just to reaffirm your faith in the human race.
[End of BS. Have a fabulous day.]

I'm curious - when you say you "hosted" a party - do you literally 'host' or do you foot the bill too? How does that work in Rock&Roll Land?
Have a great Vegas trip! Be safe and remember - "What happens in Vegas..."

Dave-
I want to know...you seem to be a really big hearted guy...people, pets, and so on...(I admire that you use helping others as a part of your outreach and recovery!!!)do you have pets...or are you just an advocate for animals? I mean most would think that you had some big tough dogs like Rots, Pits, etc...but I'm going to bet that you have a nice small dog? Anyway, just curious...

Hey, Dave. :-) Awesome, man. :-) I'm glad you had a great set with a high energy audience. Always makes it infinitely more enjoyable when the crowd is into the performance and rockin' out to the tunes. Followed by a round of revolving 'Club tag.' Sounds like you were in your element. :-)
Yeah, I think periodically 'crashing' like that is a Night Owl tendency. Some of my 'naps,' after sleep deprivation stacks up, start out perfectly innocent like that, too. ^^ Then it's, 'Hey, why is it suddenly *dark* out and *what* day of the week are we on?' LOL I'm happy you got some rest. :-)
Wishing you safe travels to Vegas. I'm sure tons of fun will be had by all. Peace to you and all our peeps. :-)
Posted by: Sanlin at March 19, 2007 01:24 PM
I'm actually responding to the previous blog. (sorry!) You never cease to amaze me, Dave. (maybe I should get out more?) First of all, I love Jerry Cantrell...you're one lucky dude to play on the same stage as/with him.
What you said about expressing your love and about "the Secret"...you're not timid and you appear to live by your own personal guides, which is exactly what I do...I don't give any more cred to a "celebrity" than to a random person serving me coffee; wisdom can come from strange places, eh?
If people think you can just think "I never really had cancer" and make it dissapear, that's not accurate, but I speak from experience when I say visualising your life with positive outcomes really helps point a person in the right direction. (oh yea and the negative is true to. But I won't get into that!)
Thanks for blogging again, I missed you MORE! Save the Blue Crabs.

thanks again for a great show. it was a miracle, i made it down and we had a great time.
we kept waiting for that second set someone promised...the dude i was with was about to hang himself after two hours of paul oakenfold...with all due respect, that part was a little painful.
cool venue. would have been great for a Lollapalooza back in the day.

I have always wondered what had happened to you after your mom passed, and I remember you never went anywhere without your white (or bone?) guitar, you weren't in class that much and always in trouble.
but I remember people would give you a hard time because you were "different" and gave me a hard time because I was "different" as well I was the tall skinny black girl with two/tone skin and everyone would ask "were you burned" I think we were friends for that one semester and I always thought you were gonna do something and I was always worried about you until I heard nothings shocking and read the label and saw your name and thought nahhh!!! then I saw ritual de lo habitual .. and said ohh shitt!!

I LOVE the pic of you in the mirror and adore the pic of you & McGrath (as silly as it is). I have to admit being a big fan of his (and yours of course). Met him last year in AC & in Fairfax VA and he couldn't have been any nicer. It may seem odd to be a fan of both of you, but I truly am - read each post of your blog but missed TPC show in Baltimore due to a family wedding...would love to see a Camp Freddy show in the music mecca that is Wash DC/Balt. - but I'm guessing it'll never happen. Guess I'll have to travel to see fun shows! Keep rockin' & stay safe in Vegas ;-)

yeah, so Moon is slow on the uptake recently...
"I remember once after my divorce, a film crew was waiting outside my gym at like 10:00am. I lunged for the camera and the video guy got struck in the face with the lens. He started shouting "lawsuit" and "assault." I was shocked and way pissed. Then he said, "If you are gonna be in the public eye, this is what you should expect!" I replied, "...And if you are going to follow people around, you should expect to run into some pretty pissed off subjects." It's funny in hindsight. We talked it out and nothing came of it. "
End Quote.
You know, I was reading this today and I can remember when you posted that story originally. It made me miss all of the kick ass people that I have met here and the Asylum.
So in case no one has told you lately, thank you for all that you do for us. I know I really am thankful to be able to come here and be updated on what you (and TPC) are doing, and what you think.
Have a good day Family!!!

Ok, this is a dupe from Billy's site but, I view each one just as often. so here goes:Ok, I dont know why I feel the need to share this with you guys but, I do. I had to bury my husband that I had been with for 18 years last Friday. I am lost, scared and dont know what or where I am going from here. I guess the Bud and ambien are kicking in so here goes. Seriously let every one you love, let them know that everyday!!! My husband and I had a wonderful relationship that I will miss for the rest of my life. We had a wonderful last evening together. We always went out with friends on Thursday nights and it was a great night. When we got home, we had netflixed Black Label Society, which he truly loved. My last memory of my husband was him pulling the guitar over his shoulder & putting in that dvd. I told him I loved him, but I was tired and going to bed. That is the last memeory I have of him. We had the opportunity to whatch the Sex Pistsols dvds together and really got into them after the first one. We had planned on getting the cd together and listening to it. He said it was more rock than punk in todays aspects. I am really happy we made the trip to Chicago to see Dave's band and Scott even told me that Dave was a far better guitar player than he had ever thought before. I am truely saddened that we were not able to see Circus Diablo together before he died. He was tragically killed in a car accident on his way to work. If your are interested you can to go to kcstar.com & look under the obituaries if you wish. His name was Scott Halley. I just love this site & miss reading it & posting on it. I have kinda just been lurking lately. I am truly just walking in a haze right now. I am not looking for sympathy or anything else. I am just kind of venting. You all have been a source of entertainment/peace to me for the last several months. I dont know what else to say. I am strong and I will get through this. I have a wonderful support system between my family and his and combined friends. There is just SOOOO much I will miss with out him here. You get a great one every once in a while and he was by far one of them. Thanks for letting me vent, I dont want to be lurker any longer. Thanks for listening & give those you love an extra big hug tonight or hold their hand just a little longer. That is what I truely miss. It is the old saying , If I had just ONE more minute with him!!! Thanks again, and I think you will be my support group for a while. Niki.

mmmm versace use a lot of sexy men from the rock world in their photo shoots...i'm a fan of all of them:)prince and bonjovi dressed in silver and gold glomesh very vegas...but hey we know you are way sexier than prince and jon bon...oh noooo i better not upset the rockgod;)you play heavier solos and have got amazing thighs in black whilst doing it and you wear no shirt like me a lot...you'd look good in a a metal glomesh singlet though but it could get snagged on the nipple ring tell donatella to handle with care...and a diverse bland of music is good for the soul expressing all moods and genres sex pistols mixed with sugar ray and you busting out a few solos...mark's kinda cute but i'd give up sugar for you sweetie

Niki,
Im so sorry...I know that is the crappiest thing people say...it doesn't make anything different or better. My cousin was killed almost 2 months ago now, which I know isn't the same caliber of loss you are experiencing, yet I can relate to a fraction of what must be very overwhelming grief for you. Please email me anytime you need to talk to someone.
Love, Amber

I don't have any words to make you feel better. Just know that I will say a prayer for you and for your continued strength.

Merc957,
I am so sorry for your loss. Many here know I lost my son 1 1/2 years ago. No words can ever express the emptiness I feel. I hope you can smile when you visit places you used to go together. For me the memories, even the good ones, are still too painful. I think about the things we were supposed to do, and never had a chance to. I can't say it gets better, because at first you're in shock. All I can say is don't torture yourself with if onlys. I'm glad you have friends and family to help you through your devastating loss. Thank you for sharing your feelings with us. I came here and talked about my son, and I received a lot of support and empathy. I hope you keep coming here and let us know how you're doing. We care, you're not alone.
