Donovan Leitch & Perez
Tonight was Perez Hilton's birthday party at The Roxy in Hollywood. Donovan was performing and asked me to join him for a rendition of Suffragette City, which I happily accepted. It was killer, but the real amazing moment of the night was when Donovan Sr. got up and did Season of the Witch. It was the first time that both father and son have ever taken the stage together and I was very honored to have seen it. I am sure that many of you have had the chance to see Donovan perform with Camp Freddy, but if you haven't, you gotta catch this kid live! He really is an amazing entertainer. Donovan will be performing at The Roxy on March 27th doing songs from Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Phantom of the Paradise with Paul Williams himself!

Hi Dave,
I am glad to hear you had such a great night...
This is the part where I am jelous that I am in New Zealand and not over there. I would love to see Donovan play live! We dont have many Rockin bands come down under. But its not all bad here in New Zealand, hehe. I went to the Juke Kartel and RSSN on Wednesday night, had a great night! Both Juke and RSSN kicked ass!
Take Care Dave,
Respect

I loved you in the Versace...especially the underwear, but the picture in the mirror is the best so far. It was such a soulful picture and you looked incredibly sexy. I have the mirrow picture as the wallpaper on my computer.
Quick question. I'm dying to hear some podcasts, see some pics and videos, etc from the recent tour. Any idea when you might have some posted? Thanks for all you do Dave. You are so good to your fans you inspire your fans to be better people.

Sorry, but I don't see how someone who exposes themselves while wearing Designer clothes and hangs out at celebrity parties is an inspiration to be a *better person*.
To make the most of life and have fun, maybe. There are people out there working their guts out to help others in war zones whatever.
I can think of many more worthy inspirations to be a *better* person, but then maybe they aren't so good looking and glamourous.

In response to "forgot's" comment...
I find Dave Navarro a real inspiration, he has overcome so much, from the murder of a much loved Mother, to overcoming drug addiction. He is an inspiration to many people, as it shows that anything is possible, when you are committed. You can achieve anything. Dave is living his dream. Dave supports and gets the word out about many worthwhile causes.
Dave lives well, treats people well, and gives so much to his fans, and many worthwhile charities. HE IS AN INSPIRATION TO MANY!!And on top of it all, he makes beautiful and rocking music.
Lots of Love and Respect to you Dave.

Jolene, out of interest...
What worthy causes apart from some pet rescue society?
Gamblers anonymous perhaps?
Posted by: wooden spoon at March 24, 2007 04:05 AM
Wooden spoon, why dont you click the link in red on the right hand side that says "Non-Profits" or heres a link http://www.6767.com/nonprofits/.
I think Dave does a wonderful job bringing awareness to these deserving charities.
What do you think wooden spoon?

Hey just came back from Perez Hilton's bash at the Roxy. For some photos and a story go to my blog: http://francisspecker.blogspot.com/2007/03/perez-meets-paris.html
Posted by: on:Location at March 24, 2007 04:32 AM
Well Jolene, I don't think he is doing a wonderful job, because sadly I have been popping in to read this blog for a while and I had absolutely no awareness of any of these charities until you so kindly brought them to my attention.
Also, I don't think just posting a few links constitutes much effort.
Of course I admire Dave for his courage in overcoming tragedy and drug addiction but I do not admire his subsequent immersion in a lifestyle that seems to value glamour and superficial appearance above all else.
Posted by: wooden spoon at March 24, 2007 04:34 AM
wooden spoon,
if you came here more often you would know that dave does more than just post links for causes he supports. please investigate further before you say anything more.

Hey Dave,

Goodmorning Dave!
Now that would have been something to see.... you and Donovan and then the two Donovan's.... Again, it all seems to happen on the west coast.
There have been questions about your pants. I wondered, do you have just the one pair that has been around for a couple of years or do you buy a couple of pairs when you find a style you like?
Love and Peace to you!
Always,
me

onLocation, thanks for the link
So, Dave, did you get to meet my new fav female artist, Amy Winehouse? That girl can sing!
What a nice moment for father and son!
love,
jezzi(girls, take it to that alley!!)

The people that do, don't tell and that is what Dave does. The people he has helped and causes he has supported are forever grateful and love him.
So Mr or Ms wooden spoon go some place else

I would have LOVED to see you and Donovan Sr. perform Seasons of the Witch. I would have also loved to see you perform Suffragette City with Donovan. And here I think I'm lucky living on the east coast. I SO need to move to the west.

Jr. & Sr. up on stage performing together must have been awesome!
btw...for someone who has been "popping in and out for a while"...instead of popping, try reading-Dave has performed in shows to benefit (most recently) Musicares, Head for Hollywood and The Elizabeth Pediatric AIDS Foundation. All of which has been posted on this blog. But that's besides the point. Dave really doesn't need to justify his life to you, the press, fans or anyone actually.
Posted by: Robin at March 24, 2007 07:51 AM
Now that's really cool to witness!!!

Donovan is so lucky. I have dreams about jamming with you too Dave. I also have dreams about getting caught naked in public, like millions of other people do. I play piano, guitar and flute. Then again, so does Alanis Morissette. So it's no big deal.
But you never visit here, so I'd probably have to bump into you "by accident" in Vegas or something. A girl can dream, can't she?

"So Mr or Ms wooden spoon go some place else"
Jan, where and when I decide to go on the web is entirely up to me, not you. If a celebrity's blog has an open comments section with no restrictions, and I want to leave a comment because I have formed an opinion I am not breaking any law.
If celebrities do not want comments on their blogs that could be interpreted as negative
then they could perhaps screen comments before adding them. Perhaps you personally could suggest this to Dave Navarro, you seeming to know him so well.
Posted by: wooden spoon at March 24, 2007 10:55 AM
Awww Dave...do you still love us? Sometimes it is so funny reading these threads. The people who come to judge are predictable.
The posts of the family...from those who ignore to those who get pissed off...are heartwarming.
We got your back dude.
To the unknown flamer: Have you done SO much for charity yourself that you are in a position to judge this man...doubt it. Doubt it big time.

The purpose of having two paragraphs in my post should be obvious. There are two separate statements I made. The part about the designer clothes is obvious...he looked good in the pictures. The part about inspiring other people to be better human beings was an entirely different subject (hence the separate paragraphs). IMO, Dave does many things to inspire others to be better people:
1. He is a well known, easily recognizable musician and yet he remains in constant contact with his fans. Most musicians couldn't care less about the people who buy their music.
2. Dave has had many obstacles in his life that would have made many people give up, but he overcame them with courage.
3. I, personally, think Dave is an inspiration because he is a recovering addict and does not apologize for that. He admits his weakness and inspires others who have a drug problem to believe they can overcome it. I take inspiration from that as I, too, am a recovering drug addict and I know how difficult it is to start living a different way.
So, my suggestion to you would be to know the facts about what you are talking about before you talk. If you don't, it only makes you look like a foot.
I apologize to everyone else for this little rant, but when I see a jackass, I tend to call it a jackass.

Somehow I collected 7 belts in 2 different martial arts. I could probably kick someone's butt, but it wouldn't be very ladylike. And last week a man named Byran Adams made me aware that it's possible to get sued. That's why it's best to stay positive and to try to be nice to everyone. Then no one will have a REASON to sue you. I'm done here. It's tax time.

Leigh Ane I would suggest checking your spellings before submitting a comment.
Otherwise you'll just look like a FOOT.

LOL. That is one good thing typos are good for...a good laugh. Foot or fool...they are both very often smelly.

"Leigh Ane I would suggest checking your spellings before submitting a comment.

I never said I wasn't human and didn't make mistakes. I got a pretty good laugh out of that typo myself.
Besides, was I responding to you? I thought I was responding to someone posting under the name "forgot". Anyway, doesn't matter, it was a boo boo and it was funny.
Posted by: Leigh Ane at March 24, 2007 11:29 AM
Woo! Its getting hot in here!
All I want to know is - if I had hid in the back of the Hummer like I considered last night when I saw you at the Bow, would you have been mad? Heehee :)
Posted by: luckystarz at March 24, 2007 11:29 AM
well, you'd know a lot about bad smells you liking to kiss Dave's butt and all.
Posted by: wooden spoon at March 24, 2007 11:32 AM
It is getting a little hot in here...but I think it takes an ignorant, attention seeking person to come onto a website like this and diss the person who hosts the website. What is the point? Probably to try and make themselves feel better about themselves by putting down those they are jealous of, such as Dave.
Posted by: Leigh Ane at March 24, 2007 11:35 AM
"well, you'd know a lot about bad smells you liking to kiss Dave's butt and all."
If that is the best comeback put down you can think of...maybe you should go do some research and try again. LOL.
Posted by: Leigh Ane at March 24, 2007 11:37 AM
Dave doesn't need me to kiss his butt. Besides, being able to appreciate the better characteristics of someone's personality isn't the same as kissing their butt. Geez...get a life, or better yet, a friend.

I'm sorry, where am I? Am I in the open for all comments section of a celebrity's blog, or in some diehard Dave Navarro Fan's webpage -(apparantly owned and controlled by his fans?) I'm confused.
But you know the thing about differing opinions and discussion is that it widens knowledge. I now know stuff about Dave's contributions to charities that I didn't know before. What a shame that I am informed of this in such a bullying and aggressive way. Enough anyway.
Posted by: Wooden Spoon at March 24, 2007 12:06 PM
You posted several posts that were obviously intended to offend me. Then you get defensive and say you are being bullied? You gave just as good as you got, so don't go getting all defensive and start crying like a school kid. If you are going to go that route...then I am completely justified in saying, YOU STARTED IT!!!
Posted by: Leigh Ane at March 24, 2007 12:10 PM
Sorry - Am I in the open to all comments section of a celebrity's blog, or some die hard Dave Navarro Fan's web page (owned and controlled by his fans apparantly).
I'm confused.
But, thanks for putting me straight about his contributions to charity. Thats the thing about opposing ideas. They can lead to greater knowledge. Just a shame that people get so bullying and aggressive. Enough, anyway.
