Just Checking In

Yeah, this is a long overdue check in for sure. The tour has been so much fun but has left me with little time to screw around on the computer. Today we are in Wisconsin for a TPC only show. It's our last club show on the tour as the rest of this leg will be with Supernova. It is cold as hell here and Chicago was even worse. (I know, hell isn't cold but you get the idea.) Even when I was with the Peppers and we did that show up at the North Pole it wasn't this cold. I am going to try to get another Podcast going this week from the bus. Since I have missed so many days here, why not just give me a Sunday 10 to do about the tour? Even though it's not Sunday I am certain that I owe you one. New York was a lot of fun and we got to see a lot of the family at the show and at the after party. A lot of people have asked me what hosting a party is all about and well, now many of our members here have seen it. We just kind of hang and have a moment to blow off steam. Deena got some pictures and has posted them over at the Asylum. It's hard to believe that this tour is about half over. In some ways it feels as if we just got started and in others it feels as if we have been gone for months. It's very easy to lose track of time out here.

BTW: We are very close to having a new Indie Artist Contest over at Spread Radio Live.

Interesting side note: We are staying at one of the hotels where Dahmer brought his victims.

Dave, what can you tell me about the Hal Leonard Guitar DVD you did? You seemed fairly annoyed to even be doing it, (Was this during your drug relapse?) and admittedly you were right in the end -- DVDs are not the way to learn guitar. Thanks.

Glad you checked in Dave!
I was going to try and make it up to Milwaukee tonight, but the fact it's snowing like hell where I'm at and heading North....I don't think it's going to get any better. It's KILLING me I won't make it! Have a great show! I'll live w/the regret of missing it.
Hope you guys go out on the road again so I can have a FULL PC fill!

The Hat!

We loved you guys in Columbus! The show was awsome! Not enough TPC seen and heard though!

Now, what is the story with The Hat? It looked great on you but..... would have loved to see you without it as well!

Posted by: Laura at February 6, 2007 10:34 AM

Hey Dave, good to hear from you! Topless lap dance??? WTF...you're supposed to be concentrating on the music...just kidding.

Question: Heard RSSN added Suffragette City to the mix and you played lead guitar...will you guys continue that, I'd love to see that one in Portland. (even better if you guys brought Stormy on stage to sing!)

Love, Dawna

Posted by: Dawna Allison at February 6, 2007 10:34 AM

Hey Dave,

I'm glad you guys are having fun. I can't wait to see you here in Colorado.

Do you find traveling inspiring for your creativity/music? Since you guys are together constantly, do you guys work on new stuff or are you just too exhausted?

Also almonds or pistachios?

Posted by: LadyM at February 6, 2007 10:37 AM

Hey Dave, it is colder here in Pittsburgh than what it was when you were here - but no where near as cold as what it is where you are!

What is one memorable moment so far from the tour?

Did you eat the treats I sent to the bus?

You blew us all away at Mr. Smalls. Where you disappointed in the turn out? Or do you like the smaller crowds better?

Always,
me

BTW - new post - YEAH!!!!!

Posted by: Angel at February 6, 2007 10:46 AM

Geez....Dahmer.....how creepy is that. Couldn't they spring for something a little more UPTOWN for you guys. Watch your privates DUDE...could be a cannibal ghost roaming the halls. ;-)

It's cold as hell here in NYC!!!

Posted by: Savvy1007 at February 6, 2007 10:52 AM

Question: You have a few two day breaks in the tour. When that happens do you like to just lay low at a hotel and take in local sights or do you like to jet somewhere else and take a break?

Posted by: Dawna Allison at February 6, 2007 10:52 AM

Hoe do u sleep in the bus when someone else is snooring?

Posted by: Marivic at February 6, 2007 10:57 AM

Hey Dave, How does one get invited to the after party/hang out with you guys? And is there a limit to the people that you invite backstage/ to the after party?

I would like to be there and show my boyfriend how cool you guys are.

Hi Family, love you

Posted by: Crecencia at February 6, 2007 11:07 AM

Stupid question, I suppose, but just something I was wondering: do all of the folks participating in a tour (so, you guys, RSSN, etc) all stay at the same places? And, do you hang out together during your down time or do they do their thing and you do yours? Just wondering....
:)

Funny you mention Dahmer-in the news today they are investigating in FL a possible link between Dahmer and the murder of Adam Walsh in 1981.

Actually, there is a Hell, Michigan. The temperature there is -9 but with the windchill, its about -22. So, Hell actually IS pretty cold right now.

Hi Dave,

How would one go about pitching an idea for a TV show?

p.s I heard Why cry on the radio in switzerland? more than once godamit!

Posted by: leroy at February 6, 2007 11:23 AM

Dave,
Chicago was awesome, well worth the trip from KC, even though It was ridiculously cold. -23 windchill or something like that on Sunday! Every aspect of the show was pure entertainment. It was especially cool to see you play with RSSN as well! Oh, and by the way, son you are cut!!! My husband even made a comment that he didnt realize that you were in that good of shape! Plus Chicago it's self was a great trip, cant wait to go back when it is warmer! Thanks for a great show! Niki

Great to see a post from you. Glad you are having an awesome time. You will be happy to know that you were in Canada at the right time and got the hell out of here before this weather hit. This morning it was -19 which is about -35 with the wind chill. Can't wait to hear more SRL. I miss my friday afts with Dave.

Wow. Thanks for the post. It's been a minute. I thought you shut us down because of the crazy complaints people were posting which were really inappropriate. Anyway,The R/C show was great. I was not close to the stage at all, but I did see you jump into the crowd which was cool and looked like a lot of fun for the girls in that section. From where I was it looked like you were fighting with the security guard tho...? I thought the sound was much better there than A/C. Sadly, I didn't make it to Marquee because my friend didn't want to go, so I hope to catch you down in Miami for the CF show. Hope to score some tix since I hear it's private.

Sunday 10:
What has been you favorite show up to this point and why? What audience has been the most receptive?

Are you over anything or anyone yet? Homesick?

This is going to sound very Jewish mother-y but: What are you eating out there? How do you stick to a healthy diet. Can you cook on the bus?

Sorry- comment is way too long... but this lurker missed you. XO Slice

Posted by: BKSlice at February 6, 2007 11:45 AM

Hey Dave,
Great to hear from you!! We're spoiled because you're so good about posting often! I was at your Albany NY show, but didn't make it down to NYC. Would have loved to catch you twice. In a couple of your posted videos (here or TPC site), Perk is bundled up in a winter jacket with the hood up -- inside the tour bus. I realize you're passing through some cold zones, but what's up with that? Was he just goofing, or is he super temperature sensitive? I love it that you guys share the happenings while you're on tour! Love ya, Lynn

Dave

Thanks for replying back to me - Your correspondence shows that you truly and genuinely are a star for whom values his fans.

Looking forward to your return to the East coast and your personal iinvolvement.

I saw the video with Perk wearing a cool lumberjack hat, but what are you wearing in this cold? Are you just running from the bus\hotel onto the stage or did you pick up some cool threads along the way? Can you show us a pic of the 'winter Dave'?

Posted by: tessa at February 6, 2007 12:34 PM

Hi Dave and everyone! Thanks for the update. I was beginning to get worried. Glad to hear you're doing well. I think the whole staying at a "Dahmer hotel" is cool as shit. Then again, I am a bit strange and fascinated with serial killers.

Have a great time, Dave and try not to freeze...

*Any inspirations or aspirations for the next song/album/tour?

*How's Steve's voice holding up singing night after night?

*Any news from the land of Capitol? They on the tour or are they seeing all the positive energy out there and good reviews...i.e. have they located their promotional checkbook yet?

And by the way, in an age of self absorbed, indifferent and superficial musicians, you (& Steve, Stephen, Siggy), are a breadth of fresh air. Even though you've been doing it your own way for years, we appreciate the time you take.

Best to you all.

hi dave, are there any high quality versions of the audio from the Venus in Furs video you made? it's the one with the piano, it rocks man but the version i have the compression is horrible, thanks:)

Posted by: Andrew at February 6, 2007 01:14 PM

Love the photo rock - hot.
Have totally missed your updates so it's fantastic to have my homepage alive once again with news from the world of DN. The reviews have been so unfair and stinky from the media about the tour (mostly supernova) but then... when you read fans blogs and hear personal experiences it's all great and uplifting - see we love you!! Most reviews seem to be written by complete pickled gherkins who a) have never picked up an instrument in their own sad lives really what right have they got to anihilate someone else's talent or b) twats who are so sour that they can't locate even one positive thing to say.

So... MY tour question is this: Have you been reading the reviews and how do you deal with this crap?

Big love
V.

So glad to finally see a post.

It would be nice to hear some podcasts of the the TPC guys and RSSN guys together. Not that I don't love the TPC podcast...I'm just a fan of both bands and I think it would be nice to hear you all together. What are the chances of this happening anytime soon?

Posted by: Leigh Ane at February 6, 2007 01:28 PM

Hey Dave, Saw your show in Philly It rocked the house. I went out and bought the cd the next day. Love it! Steves voice really gets the song out there and the whole sound of your band is intense. Could have listened all night. Very sexy.

"Interesting side note: We are staying at one of the hotels where Dahmer brought his victims."

Cool in a creepy/macabre way... I just hope for your sake that they've changed the mattresses since then.

I don't know if you heard me over the clamor of the NYC party, but GREAT SHOWS... both NYC and AC. You guys are fantastic, and it's exciting to see that more and more people are realizing this.

Questions...

**What makes you decide whether to wear the hat or not onstage? Weather? Bad hair day? Mood?

**You've said in the past that sometimes you enjoy being onstage more than others. What factors help make it a better experience?

Posted by: Denise at February 6, 2007 03:43 PM

The Weather...

Is great here in California!!! It's been perfect in Nor-Cal that's for sure...

Question: When on tour do you have the same team of sound engineers/equipment techs/raodies as they would be most familiar with the sound/function program for TPC or is it an everchanging/revolving door??? I always wondered that...

And I'll ask again...Strip Clubs

Is the Mitchell Brothers O'ffarell Theatre too hardcore or right up your alley???

Thanks for thinking of us as usual!!!
Kisses~

Thanks for the post Dave!

My tour question is: What has Siggy brought to this tour that differs from the last? And I don't mean in terms of the music, I mean has he been cool to hang with...is he funny, does he cook, is he a practical joker, have all you guys totally "bonded" now...etc, etc.

Stay warm and take good care!

Posted by: Cori at February 6, 2007 04:13 PM

Keep that sexy bod warm Dave - sounds like you're having a great time.
I want to know - did you pack winter clothes or do you pick up stuff during 'off time' on tour? Looooove the hat btw - tres chic...I think you started a trend for more men to wear hats again! Thank you !
Ew- on the hotel- Don't let any of that bad Dahmer vibe affect you guys. I hope you smudged the room or something. Pax, SpaJunkie

DAVE! We saw you in Chicago. It was a good show. For sure TPC was the best part of it. You guys are very tight. Perfect performance. On the other hand Tommy Lee has a thing about his drums doesn't he? I have seen the Crue before and we know how great he is at what he does but did he need to drowned out Lukas to that degree. It was overwhelming. Took two days for my hearing to come back to normal. And I was lucky enough to be in the seat where the blue light pointed too! So blind and deaf are what I took away from the RSSN performance!!!
All teasing aside, I did enjoy the evening very much and wanted to thank you for coming to our town in the heart of a tough winter. Okay maybe you will answer my question. WHO was the blond up front that you shared tongue with? And spoke too between songs? She seemed to know the other guys as well, since everyone stopped to say hi to her or chat with her. We were taking bets on who she might be? Want to share? I have 10 bucks riding on it.

I was about to withdrawl!
Canada needs to take their artic air back!
We were talking about the Dahmer/Walsh thing today too, weird.
Im lovin all the panic pics you guys are getting, my camera sucked at the B-More show "(
I wish we had a after party..the sonar isnt that great of a club..they should've let your cig burn the place down haha The 9:30 club in DC is much better and safer!
Steve sounded phenomenal, and your solo's were so heartfelt & beautiful, I loved Perks drum solo..I was gettin my swerve on to that shit fosho! Siggy fit right in...he smiled the whole show we loved it!
It was great seeing our panic peeps again, you guys rock!

Great to hear from you Dave.
I also saw the show in Chicago! Kicked ass. Yes. It was very cold that night but I've lived in IL most of my life. I don't like it but I'm use to the extreme temps. I've experience 50 below w/wind chill here b4. I'm over it.
I believe I met the blonde that Dave shared tongue with. I didn't plan on it but it happened. She was very nice, easy to talk to, and very funny. Didn't bother to ask her name but she told me she drove 4 hours from WI to see the show. I didn't press her with the personal questions cos that's none of my business. I was waiting to get my TPC album cover signed by the band. The blonde and I shared small talk after she came out the backstage door. Ramone, Gabby and another of Perk's friend (sorry forgot name) had backstage passes and offered to get it signed for me. They were so nice! It was their idea to do that for me!
Thanks to you Dave, Stephen and Siggy for signing it!
Sunday 10 ? - Is there a sophomore album in the works. Do you write new material on the road? Do you record on the bus or at a local studio.
Please do a headline tour in the Spring or Summer. A 45 minute set is not long enough to rock out to TPC!

which can be heard in the song in the evening along with a girls
name which so happened gave the song to the band
but origin of the lyrics the world is meant to pop and it aint going to stop and the water will run

Question: As I've said I am a recovering person of 23 yrs and wondered how it is for you being around some of the BIGGEST partiers and are you tempted to use? Hate to see anyone go back to the hellish life after seeing a new life. I find it very difficult at times in the art circle that I run after all these years. tom

;)

omg! he posted!! *sigh of relief* *BIG sigh* *exhale*

And yes, just to echo the others around the community - thanks for keeping us posted! :) Dave, Dave, you're our fav. And shit o'malley! it does sound VERY cold afterall... I hope u have some wool socks!! ;)

And who was it that asked if Dave just runs from the bus to the stage?? ah'hahhahaha!!

For your Sunday 10 luv:

1. Do you like to play video games to pass the time on the bus? And if so, what's your favorite game to play at this point in time?

2. Also, if u have a cell phone, does it work on the bus in sub-zero temps? And are you able to communicate with other colleagues in the industry? ;)

3. Is the entire tour experience something akin to man/beast returning to the cave/wilds to get a sense of nature and to work out that part of the psyche so that upon returning to civilization, one is totally de-stressed, re-energized, and renewed?

luv u babe :)

Do you ever get to rub one out on the bus?

Posted by: leroy at February 7, 2007 10:27 AM

And I'd like the third the "Winter Dave" photo request! heehee!! show us a pic of u all bundled up - it's got to be cute/precious!! :D

Posted by: 4real at February 7, 2007 10:31 AM

I love listening to all of you ass kissers, you all have no life and are nothing but terds. Oh Dave, I think you're the greatest...blah, blah, blah!! We have no lives of our own so we have to resort to Dave Nivarno's website for some small morsel of excitement, WHOppiE!! I think you all need to go buy a whole case of snickers bars and pretend they are terds and munch away. You all have a great day losers.

Posted by: shitflinger at February 7, 2007 10:51 AM

Dave - I was hoping you could give me a review of the Columbus show. I was supposed to be there but was unable to attend due a family death.

Posted by: Taz at February 7, 2007 11:13 AM

Dave, could you please define "screw around on the computer" for us? Is there a hidden meaning in that phrase somewhere? Does this mean that you're "screwing" around while OFF the computer??? *wink* *wink*

(shitflinger: come on over with the snickers bars dude!! I agree that our Dave does not always deserve to be worshipped, especially when he leaves the board for 10 whole fuckin days!!)

Have you and Perk started your movie marathon yet?

See you soon in the Bay Area! It's been far too long since I've had my Panic fix. I just bought 5th row tickets on your side of the stage. I can't fuckin wait.

Dave

there is a nice video of TPC with Dilana --doing "Highway to Hell" in
"TPC radio city music hall 1/30/07 w/ dilana"
--- on YouTube --dilana's and steve's vocal are wonderful.
i can see you get off stage -- get over to a place and play your ass off for the lead and then you keep the lead blazing as you make your way back to the stage
KICK ASS it is !!!!!!!!!!!!

Since you are a Big "The Beatles" fan as I am --just a reminder that this friday feb 9 2007 marks the 43 year since they 1st played on the ed sullivan show and ROCKED AMERICA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hope the tour keeps being as much fun and great music all the way to the last show of the tour!!!!

thanks for the updates--the blog space and all the great music we get to hear TPC--Dilana..Toby--RSSN play for us and your audiences !!!!

peace to everyone
Allan

this is where the video is listed from this name kare2cares ...

Thanks for a great show last night! I figure it must be difficult to give it your all and perform for a small crowd like that (where the hell was everyone? I drove from Chicago, in the snow and cold, what's their excuse?) It really just goes to show how much you guys respect your fans - we truly appreciate that!

ps..thanks for the Dahmer tid bit. We "googled" it and it just happened to be the same place we stayed last night. Still freaked out and have not slept yet. SO worth it though!!!!!!

Hey Pompous dude! He's probably "screwin around" off the computer, while onTOP the computer! (you know, laptop in the same bed and all!!) ;)~

LMAO!!

Hey Dave...glad to hear the tour is going well. Keep warm! BTW...caught the show in Montreal...it ROCKED! Ciao.

Posted by: Blu_Flame at February 7, 2007 05:59 PM

So you played the Rave in Milwaukee.... I keep hearing what a great place that is to see a show. How was it from an entertainer's perspective?

I was all set to see for myself Tues. night - do the drive from Chicago - but with the snow, by the time I got out there after work your show would have been over! Dammit Dave, I keep missing you guys and I'm gettin' pissed!

Hope the rest of your trip is WARMER!

Li

YOU BETTER READ THIS DAVE:
I was at The Rave show in Milwaukee lastnight, you guys were fuckin awesome!!

I was the brunette in the front on your side, standin next to my sister with the 'Louis Vuitton' purse (blonde hair) haha Loved when you called her out.
You played a great show and I couldn't have had a better time!!

I was pissed that there was such a small crowd there lastnight, I knew a lot of people that were going to go but had to cancel cause of work issues with all the cancelations because of the weather. Hell with them though, you guys were fuckin amazing!! Love ya Dave & Steve!! And you guys are even more attractive in person! ;)

I will for sure be seeing you guys everytime you come to Milwaukee & Chicago in the future! Your music is amazing, love it- big fan.

And damn those people who sell the TPC shirts, they were all sold out of the hoodie sweatshirts, I was mad haha, but I bought a reg shirt anyway.

Keep it up Dave, we love ya!

geetar: yeah he's probably screwin around off the computer (this blog) while ON the computer (cyberin')!! :)~

Posted by: pompous ass at February 7, 2007 08:54 PM

Dave! Suffragette City came on and you were no where to be found! I know it's just little ol' Des Moines, IA, but I was screaming for you. Damn lucky TPC rocked or I'd be heartbroken! How could you jump like that?!

Now there is some damn fine coffee in DM. Make sure you find some. You must have a lackey for that.

I still love you, Nic
