Sunday Stuff

Did you know that there is no law written anywhere which states that we are obligated to pay income taxes? Check out Aaron Russo's documentary "AMERICA: FREEDOM TO FASCISM". It's kind of mindblowing. Go to Aaron's site and watch the 15 minute trailer.

Bring on the 10!

1. I'm excited to see what you have in store for Spread Radio Live, should we be expecting the roll out after tour is over?

Yes, the new SRL digital factory should be ready to go in April. I'll be doing radio from the tour, but the factory, which includes all forms of art, including Internet Television, will be up and running shortly after the tour.

2. I always wondered about this-when your out on the road, who does the laundry? Are you responsible for it yourself or a member of the crew?

HAHA! Laundry on the road? Let's just say this... If you plan on stopping by the bus to say hello, see that you do it within the first week of the tour. Seriously it depends: We send it out, a crew member will do it or we just pick up new stuff as we go. This is precisely why socks and underwear are imperative on the rider.

3. What do you most look forward to when you return home after a tour?

All the TiVo'd stuff I missed. I do a couple days of laying in bed, ordering food and watching everything at once. It's kind of a decompression thing. After day 2, I get squirrely and begin to get back into moving around and life.

4. What exactly is your feeling on those fans like myself who like to promote your work and your bands work over their own Internet radio airwaves? Would you rather your promoters whom you pay already to do such?

We love it! We totally rely upon word of mouth and the Internet viral spreading of information. The thing is this. Once a single is released and doesn't do what the record company hopes for, they pretty much drop the whole thing. It's up to us and fans like you to keep the things alive that we love and believe in. We totally appreciate it!

5. What does one do on the long tour bus ride?

Perk and I like to pick a random actor and have a film festival. We have been planning on a Morgan Freeman festival this tour.

hey Dave

It's no secret that you like soup - though I am curious to know if you only limit yourself to soup or do like stews and chowders as well. I personallly love stews and chowders more than just oridinary soup but its all good on a cold day.

Good afternoon, Dave!

I was curious, what was your favorite TV show when you were a kid?

We have been watching Patridge Family, Brady Bunch, Family Affair, Here Comes the Bride, Bonanza.....

Question for the Sunday 10:

Will the UK be hearing music (with regards to live perfromaces) from The Panic Channel/Camp Freddy anytime soon?

Posted by: Wrench89 at January 7, 2007 01:41 PM

Hmm, that's a scary trailer which just adds fuel to the whole government conspiracy theories behind films like enemy of the state. if that stuff doesn't originate in fact where does it come from. some cute government mole sits and makes notes then goes into hiding before sending the scribble to hollywood.
where do you get the info from? web surfing?
i love the fact there isn't a written law but it's a decree everyone abides by. wonder if there is a law here in the uk.
do you watch any live sport by the way?

Dave, I finally have 2 Q.'s for the 10: First, do you really dislike David AND why the fuck has not Helio begun to sponsor Camp Freddy Radio? Seems to me if Mr. Steele wants you all to play more tunes (?) then this would be the perfect relationship, plus, damn Dave, Helio sponsors like every other show over there and you guys are the fucking gd bomb. To Helio, this show would send you guys SO MUCH fucking business it's not even funny. Don't they get it?

i am also interested in the question someone else asked about laundry. how many sets of clothing do you bring along and what arrangements are made for keeping them clean.

what do you most look forward to when you return home after a tour?

Dave,

Sunday 10 question: Does your oldest little brother know about this site & has he ever listened to SRL and if so, do you have any qualms about it? Kids are smart & with access to the internet, they can find WHATEVER they want to. Cant wait to see you in Chicago! I had my picture taken with you while we were in San Francisco last week. I dont expect you to remember, it was with the picture of you in front of the Guitar Center there, but it was still fun! LOL. Take care. NIKI

Posted by: Merc957 at January 7, 2007 02:31 PM

Isn't that the basis behind various groups from Ruby Ridge to Waco? I remember hearing this argued in depth before I was old enough to pay taxes. Now, all I can say is, whether or not paying taxes is the law, they certainly have enough power to get it from you if you don't. Think of all the job security for loan officers, mortgage companies, tax attorneys, the food chain reaches all the way to the sweet girl behind the counter at the local Office Max where you buy your copy of Turbo Tax.
Give to Caesar what is Caesar's...

wait, there's a question in here...
Dave, do you have someone who takes care of paying your bills? I wish I did?
love,
jezzi(garnish this!)

"Doesn't anyone remember laughter?"

I know your suggestion blog for the song list for the TPC tour is over, but would you consider playing two songs that weren't mentioned? I am speaking of "Ashes" & "Unholy Ghost." Ashes is personally one of my favorite songs besides "Night One." I really wish it made it onto the record and honestly was suprised no one brought it up to be played on the tour. I know you think probably "Ashes" has a "Lumbering" quality to it, but please play it on at the Long Beach show for all the die hard fans (myself) who actually made it to all the Dragonfly shows. My tour songlist goes as follows:

Teahouse Of The Spirits
Said You'd Be
Outsider
Ashes *
Bloody Mary (Both Versions - Old to be played for encore)
Left To Lose
Night One (From Planchette)
Unholy Ghost *
Go On *
Why Cry
Loophole *
She Won't Last
Awake
Fireflies (From Planchette)
Blue Bruises
Listen
Lie Next to Me
Dazed & Confused

Please consider this for the "Long Beach" show & other shows on the tour thank you in advance Dave!
Much love & respect,
Andrew

Honestly, though the Worcester, Mass show is probably only about 2 hours from where I live... I don't see myself going to that show. I make about 25,000(after the damn IRS gets a hold of the rest, bastards) and can't forsee wanting to give any of that to RSSN regardless of whether I caught their show on TV last summer. I would rather spend my money on TPC. But that is just me. thx. :)

Hi Dave
i noticed your message on your myspace. you do get a lot of spam there, sorry you have to deal with it. i think a lot is auto-generated just like those recorded phone calls.

On Donald Trump's myspace, in order to even send him a request to be added as a friend, you have to read and answer a question first. I think this is so the automated spammers are prevented from accessing his site. the question is easy: what is trump's last name, but a robot would not be able to read and type in an answer.
have fun on the tour, i look forward to reading about it! loved the Q&A about laundry, i'm one of those people who packs a mini box of Tide and then finds a laundrymat every 3 days (freakazoid, i know)or bring old clothes & trash em.
love you.

I haven't been around in a while but I am keeping up with the news about the upcoming TPC tour. Can't wait to see you in Orlando.

On another note I was reading a magazine earlier and I came across an add for the "4play vibrating condom ring" by Lifestyles. I was wondering if you have ever heard of this and if so have you ever tried it? HAHA sorry anything sexual gets me thinking of you.

Hi Sexy and Hi family.

Dave a have a very serious question for you. My boyfriend has been sober for 3 years. This past weekend I found out that he has started drinking again this past Dec. (there are more things that he has done well)

But, my question is do you think I should try and stick it out with him while he goes through therapy? Or do I just leave him now? I have never been with anyone that has an addiction. I am not sure if I am doing the right thing. I do love him but I do not want to tourture myself. What do you think? (Family, I will take your suggestions as well)

Thanks, Much love. -CC

Posted by: Crecencia at January 7, 2007 11:03 PM

Cre~ as someone who is clean and sober, I will say that it was very important for me to have healthy, "safe" people around me when I was beginning the recovery process. If he really wants to get clean and sober again, I would suggest sticking with him. Having the support of someone who loves him I am sure will help him tremendously. Remember though, that he has to do it on his own. There is no way you can "make this all better" or fix it for him. He needs to have the desire to live a sober life no matter what.

I'll say a prayer tonight that he has the desire to take the "first step."

Another question-

Just saying "hi".

CC - I'm sorry to hear that your b-f is going through some tough times. Since you asked for opinions, I'm with Nicole. I also think it depends on how strong your relationship is. If it's a good, solid, healthy, rewarding relationship otherwise, then I'm sure you'll want to stick by his side through this difficult time. However, if he's one of those people who changes drastically for the worse (e.g. gets violent) when he drinks, then it's time to reassess the relationship.

Best of luck to both of you! (hugs)

Posted by: Cagirlygirl at January 8, 2007 04:13 PM

Sorry Dave, but the guy who made this movie is full of shit. Article I Section 8 of the US Constitution give the Congress the authority to "...lay and collect Taxes,Duties, Imposts and Excises..." Pursuant to that power, Congress enacted title 26 of the US Code, which is where you find the Internal Revenue Code. Section 7201 of the Code provides that any person "who willfully attempts in any manner to evade or defeat any tax imposed by this title or the payment thereof" shall be guilty of a felony. Right there is the law that requires you to pay. If you want to learn more look up Cheek v. United States, 498 U.S. 192 (1991). The US Supreme Court dealt with a situation in that case where some crackpot argued that he wasn't required to pay taxes on his wages because they were not income, and he lost badly. Section 61 of the code says income is income from whatever source derived. That basically means any way you find yourself with more money than you had before is income that is subject to tax. There are groups out there that claim vague language in the code makes it appear that you don't have to pay, but they are wrong. Really all they want to do is rip off people who pay money to go to their seminars that teach their method for avoiding taxes, and all it gets the taxpayer is prosecuted by the IRS.

DAVE NAVARRO: FANCY MAN

Dave Navarro is one of the few guys in Hollywood who carries an overnight bag full of makeup. He never leaves home without foundation, eyeliner, mascara, and lipliner, and lip balm. So it makes sense that he come out with his own line of Navarro cosmetics for men. We hear he's doing it all himself and plans to start with the daily basics that he uses, plus self tanner, moisturizer, and after shave. Plus grooming for detailed facial hair. He's aiming his products at young rocker types - guys who have tattoos but are still in touch with "their feminine side." Eventually there will also be a Navarro fragrance.

Have you ever just had the feeling that you ought to do something? Well, I just came online and there's an article on Charlton's website about Dave. If there's any truth to it, well Dave, I think it's a good idea. I mean, why not?

Here's an idea for a fragrance: spice (more so of a cinnamon odor) with a hint of rose. Or, musk with a hint of honeysuckle.

Personally, I prefer Bare Essentials cosmetics, and I don't think they make a men's line, but am sure men could use it too.

Btw, good photo of you fella, and although I'm an ole' lady (yes, tonight I'm feeling my 46 years), I think you'd be gorgeous with or without cosmetics.

Have fun on your tour! Be safe, and be happy!

Crecencia, Did he tell you he was drinking again, or did you find out some other way? I don't know what the other things are that he has done, but don't stay with him only if you think you can make him the man you want him to be. I have stayed way too long in relationships where I thought if only I could reach him, and I became stuck in the fantasy that he would become the man I knew he could be. I don't know you, but there is a book called "Women Who Love Too Much" When You Keep Wishing and Hoping He'll Change, by Robin Norwood. If he has been dishonest with you, chances are he is lying to himself as well. Good luck sweetie.

Hankwood, I absolutely love Montana, especially Thompson Falls and Kalispell. I can't imagine Dave and the boys there, those Montana men all carry guns! HAHA

What do you do before you go on stage in a concert?
Do you do a routine?
