AC Post Show

Last night was a lot of fun. It was awesome to see all of our friends out there in the audience. The drag for me was the stage set up and the distance from the people. We felt like we were 15 feet high and 20 feet away from the crowd and it made for kind of a tease. This seems to be a theme with a lot of casino shows (that aren't in Vegas). The good news is that we have finally started recording the shows and plan to put up live versions of our songs. After we went over to a night club in the Borgata Hotel where Tommy was doing another DJ set. I stayed for about an hour but the place was so packed that I had to bounce. I decided to get back on the bus, rock some hip hop jams and catch up on Grey's Anatomy. We are now on our way to Connecticut for another show. Thanx to Deena and the girls for the "Deez Nuts"! That made me laugh out loud onstage, which is a rare thing.

Here is a Podcast with Dave and Perk about the above post.

Atlantic City

The tour has stopped in Atlantic City for an entire day off before the show tonight. I spent the day laying in bed watching movies, sleeping on and off and getting up once in a while to eat. I slept about 10 hours straight which is hard to do on tour. Our Canada shows went really well, and we had a blast up there, regardless of the arctic temperatures. Since Lukas is from The Great White North, there was a special buzz in the air for his homecoming. I'll tell you this, the kid delivered! Probably his best two shows of the tour. We played Massey Hall in Toronto which is more of a theater and I have to say that it was amazing to play a smaller room with Supernova. People left their seats and came down front which is always inspiring for us. We love to see the faces and interact with the audience. Tonight in Atlantic City, the room has a similar vibe so we are looking forward to this. Everybody on this tour is having a great time and that is what it's all about once you hit the road. Toby, Lukas, Dilana, TPC and all of SN... A great group of people. We have just over another month to go but if you ask me, it's not nearly long enough. I could stay out here all year.

6 to 10

6. Dave, do you have a favorite strip club in Vegas?

That's kind of like asking if I have a favorite pizza. The worst one is pretty good... But I'd say either Score's or Spearmint Rhino.

7. How come The Panic Channel aren't joining Supernova on their dates in Australia?

I don't know. It never came up as an option. I think that it's going to be Toby's band and Supernova only. Toby's band is from Australia so it's a big deal for them. Good on ya mates!

8. I would really like to know how you got them to allow you to smoke on stage when I saw you at Canes, and do they let you smoke indoors at other venues?

Here is the key... Don't ask! You can always get away with two easily. The first one, you didn't know and the second one, you forgot! By the third one, the show is either almost over or they just give up!

9. Do you think you are a sex addict now; instead of using drugs? What about the sugar and caffeine?

What do you mean... A sex addict NOW? I am for sure a full blown caffeine and nicotine user but I stay away from the sugars. I mean, if you are going to be a sex addict, why take in all those extra calories? J/K I just avoid sugar as much as possible.

10. Have you seen the new Taco Bell commercials with Carmen?

Hell yeah they are awesome. She looks amazing in them.

5 of 10

1. How do you work out while you are on the road? It is possible but must be more challenging.

Yeah it is possible but I simply don't. With all the travel and lack of sleep and irregular eating habits I usually just use the road as a means to take a break from it. Plus, our shows are very high in cardio so our heart rates get a daily kick in the ass regardless.

2. I like to wear tighter jeans (not real baggy) but I always wanted to know where do you put your wallet so you don't have this big bulge coming off of your leg?

No wallet... ID, cash, credit card... Back pocket or jacket.

3. Have you any cute little rituals that you just gotta do before you go on stage?

I don't know how "cute" it is, but the four of us do a four way pound thing (you can see it in the Teahouse video) to collectively loosen up on an emotional level and tighten up on a communicative level.

4. My questions is, does conflict occur on the bus / road and what sort of things do you all do to get space, chill out and work things out before the next show.

To be honest we really don't run into much conflict but when we do we are pretty good at just talking it out and getting past it. In fact, we usually talk things out before there is a conflict. Of course people get moody and when they do, they/we usually retire to the bunk or just chill in the room.

5. One bathroom and seven guys? Democratic scheduling?

Well, there is a universal rule about the bathroom on any bus. Liquids only! In that respect, nobody is ever in there for more than a minute or two.

Crossing The Border

It's close to 4 a.m. and I am all alone in the front lounge of the bus right now as our crew and the band are sound asleep in their bunks. We are about to cross the border into Canada and I figured, why not take the opportunity to have some quiet time, watch a movie and not have to be shaken awake once we reach the border in about an hour. Tomorrow is a day off anyway so I plan to lay in bed all day and then maybe hit some nightlife in Montreal. It's gonna be cold as fuck up there, but who cares. Speaking of sleep... Of course we uploaded the sleep video with Sean's approval and I must say he is very touched by your concern but he is totally fine. He is just a heavy sleeper. The shows have been going great. Two nights ago we played our own club show in Baltimore and went out after with some of our friends. It's been killer playing to the big houses with Supernova but at the same time, we really love the small intimate shows. We always go away with a really specific memory from the small shows because each has a different vibe and we get to be in contact with the hard-core fans. The arenas are always rad, but sooner or later all of the backstages start to blend together into one big memory. Of course, we do remember the shows, but the before and after hang time is a lot less interactive with the street. I'll probably hit up another Spread Radio Live from my room tomorrow.

If you want to throw a late Sunday 10 at me, go for it.

Two Down

We are two dates in to this tour and its already starting to flow. We hit Hollywood, FLA and Orlando and both shows were a lot of fun. We have been changing up the set from night to night with Night One/Why Cry/Blue Bruises/Highway To Hell... Just finding the right pace. Siggy is kicking ass on bass and has brought a lot to the live show. Everyone on the tour is super friendly and it seems like this is going to go by all too quick. Toby and Juke Cartel do a great job opening the show and the ladies definitely love Toby! Then Dilana comes out for a couple of acoustic songs and her voice is just so captivating that it penetrates every heart in the room. We do our thing for about 45 minutes which, given the size of the room and the fact that most of the audience hasn't heard us, feels like a perfect amount of time. Hit it and quit it we say. Of course we play for about an hour and 15 at our own shows. Isaacs has really hit a new level on this tour and I think that playing to the big rooms really suites him. The sound on stage is so perfect for us, thanks to Supernova's monitor engineer, that it actually feels like we are living in our record up there. Then Supernova comes on... LOUDLY! One of the loudest bands I have ever heard for sure. Tommy is fucking ridiculous on the drums as we all know and this show is no different. Lukas has been singing great and he looks perfect up there at all times. The production on stage is pretty amazing too. It's rad... We all know that there are a lot of shit talkers about the whole TV concept and there always will be... But the bottom line is: We are on tour bringing it every night! The bad news is that I forgot to pack my microphone to make Podcasts but Isaacs promises he has a work around. We are just getting started anyway!

AVN ~ Tour

So the AVNs are over and I have to tell you... I had a fuckin blast out there. I have been to a lot of award shows in my days but none have ever been as fun and loose as the AVNs. They feel a lot more like a celebration of the industry than a competition. Perhaps the fact that I am not in the porn industry has a lot to do with how it came off in my eyes. It also felt like there wasn't anyone looking for a poorly dressed entertainer or press looking for a screw up to blow out of proportion. It's rad that the industry is so raw and in your face that there really isn't any way to find "scandal". I gave out two awards at the show then hit Vegas till the early morning. I don't know why the music shows are so much stiffer... THAT industry has been fucking musicians for years! Anyway, now I am in Florida getting ready for the tour to kick off. We have our first show tomorrow at The Hard Rock, then we are immediately out for the next city. I'll try to get the guys to do a Podcast from the bus!

Looks like this is my last post until I am out on the road. The tour kicks off in Florida but I am leaving early to stop off in Vegas and throw a party at Score's and then give out an award or two at the AVNs. What better way to kick off a tour? 10 Con't

6. What are you doing for NAMM?

Actually, I will be on tour when it happens this year so I will not be attending.

7. SO many rumors about TPC disbanding after the tour. What IS the status of The Panic Channel Dave?

Well, if that were the case we just wouldn't go. What would be the point? I have not heard any of those rumors but they certainly haven't come from me.

8. You obviously know folks in the adult porn industry... Have you ever been approached about the possibility of doing a porn flick.

No, I have never been approached to make a film. To be honest, I don't really watch a lot of porn, I just happen to have a lot of friends in the industry.

9. If you make another record with TPC, would you consider having Ken Andrews from Failure produce and mix the album?

Definitely! In fact, he was one of the guys I met with before doing Trust No One. I don't remember why we didn't make that record, but he is still one of my all time favorite artists and producers.

10. Since a lot of people (myself included) constantly request that you come play for their town, I was wondering how much direct input you personally have on where TPC plays?

Well, this tour is Supernova's tour and we are supporting so none. As far as all the questions, "Do you have any plans to come to...?" Trust me, if we have any plans to go anywhere we will post it.

Um... No

"Dave Navarro is one of the few guys in Hollywood who carries an overnight bag full of makeup. He never leaves home without foundation, eyeliner, mascara, and lip liner, and lip balm. So it makes sense that he come out with his own line of Navarro cosmetics for men. We hear he's doing it all himself and plans to start with the daily basics that he uses, plus self tanner, moisturizer, and after shave. Plus grooming for detailed facial hair. He's aiming his products at young rocker types -- guys who have tattoos but are still in touch with "their feminine side." Eventually there will also be a Navarro fragrance." - Janet Charlton

Awwwww... Janet. It is so sweet that you didn't take this as an opportunity to just go crazy with sarcasm and insulting innuendo, however, there isn't an ounce of truth to this story. Trust me, if there was, I'd give myself a good bashing!

Sunday Stuff

Did you know that there is no law written anywhere which states that we are obligated to pay income taxes? Check out Aaron Russo's documentary "AMERICA: FREEDOM TO FASCISM". It's kind of mindblowing. Go to Aaron's site and watch the 15 minute trailer.

Bring on the 10!

1. I'm excited to see what you have in store for Spread Radio Live, should we be expecting the roll out after tour is over?

Yes, the new SRL digital factory should be ready to go in April. I'll be doing radio from the tour, but the factory, which includes all forms of art, including Internet Television, will be up and running shortly after the tour.

2. I always wondered about this-when your out on the road, who does the laundry? Are you responsible for it yourself or a member of the crew?

HAHA! Laundry on the road? Let's just say this... If you plan on stopping by the bus to say hello, see that you do it within the first week of the tour. Seriously it depends: We send it out, a crew member will do it or we just pick up new stuff as we go. This is precisely why socks and underwear are imperative on the rider.

3. What do you most look forward to when you return home after a tour?

All the TiVo'd stuff I missed. I do a couple days of laying in bed, ordering food and watching everything at once. It's kind of a decompression thing. After day 2, I get squirrely and begin to get back into moving around and life.

4. What exactly is your feeling on those fans like myself who like to promote your work and your bands work over their own Internet radio airwaves? Would you rather your promoters whom you pay already to do such?

We love it! We totally rely upon word of mouth and the Internet viral spreading of information. The thing is this. Once a single is released and doesn't do what the record company hopes for, they pretty much drop the whole thing. It's up to us and fans like you to keep the things alive that we love and believe in. We totally appreciate it!

5. What does one do on the long tour bus ride?

Perk and I like to pick a random actor and have a film festival. We have been planning on a Morgan Freeman festival this tour.

CFR~TPC Tour

Billy and I will be back in the studio on Saturday night for another installment of Camp Freddy Radio on Indie 103.1FM from 6pm-8pm PST. With any luck, we should have a special guest, Alektra Blue, in tonight to discuss her nomination at the upcoming AVN awards in Las Vegas. I am a presenter this year at the show and I am also throwing a big pre-awards party at Scores the night before. Work, work, work... Sadly, tonight will be my last Camp Freddy Radio for a while as The Panic Channel is going on tour for a couple of months, but as usual, we plan to do some TPC Podcasts from the bus. Speaking of TPC, thank you for all of your thoughts on the set list with Supernova. As it stands, we are toying around with the following:
Left To Lose
Teahouse
Go On
Said You'd Be
Blue Bruises
She Won't Last
Outsider/Why Cry/Bloody Mary
Night One
Awake
Of course we will be doing some other stuff at our club shows, but it's looking like there are only 3 of those scattered around. We will definitely be breaking out Listen and a cover or two for those shows. Our new bass player, Siggy, has stepped in and is rocking our songs with an energy and enthusiasm that is really making it all feel new again. As I have said before, I will miss Chris, but if anyone is gonna fill in for him, it MUST be Siggy! Plus, I get to rock with Chris at every Camp Freddy show so I am pretty much in "rad bass player heaven".

Getting Ready For Tour

(Siggy of Powerman 5000) So The Panic Channel started up rehearsals yesterday for our upcoming tour with Supernova. It was our first day with Siggy on bass and I have to say that the guy is insane on that thing! We will miss Chris Chaney on this leg of the tour, but we all understand that family comes first! Meanwhile, Siggy has it all wired and has brought his own flavor to the sound and stage. Plus, he is just cool as hell. Anyway, for our shows with Supernova, we have a 45 minute set. We do have some longer club shows on our own when Supernova has days off, but for the most part, we will be hitting it and quitting it. For the die hards: If there are any particular songs you would like to hear in the 45 minute set, let us know now. Our plan is to pretty much just go hard and loud for all of it, with maybe an acoustic Outsider as a palate cleanser. As for Supernova... I saw them in Vegas and I have to say that they are awesome. Tommy, Lukas and Gilby really have something there and their new bass player is holding it down as if he has been there the whole time. It's gonna be a really fun tour to see... Certainly to be on!

2007 & The Panic Channel Tour Dates

New Year's Eve was a lot of fun in Vegas this year. I stopped by Carson's NYE Show from Vegas where I was witness to the first ever public Supernova performance. Those guys killed it live from Freemont Street and looked, sounded and performed really well. It was exciting to see as The Panic Channel are about to go on tour with them for a couple months. Since I had my own party to host at Tangerine, I wasn't able to catch their NYE show at The Joint, so I was happy to see them playing when I showed up for a quick interview about the night's festivities. I then went over to my party where I got to countdown the New Year with Grandmaster Flash, a long time hero of mine. After that, I headed over to Pure to join my friend Shannon Elizabeth and her poker pro friends for a little late night hang time.

(To be filed under: Whatever!) Evidently, Britney passed out at the club after the countdown. The press seems to be making a big deal out this. Come on now, it was fucking New Year's Eve! I saw people passed out all over town that night. Not that I am some big champion of Britney's, but if a girl can't drink herself into oblivion on New Year's Eve, then when can she? One thing I have noticed in 2006 is that the celeb trash gossip stuff has just gotten WAY out of control. With the advent of digital cameras, cell phone technology, gossip blogs and paparazzi everywhere, the days of any kind of personal time or mystique for big name entertainers are long gone. If you think about it, if you followed "anyone" around for long enough, you could put together some kind of scandalous story or find moments when they don't look perfect. Whatever... None of it lasts for very long anyway. Britney issued a statement saying she was tired and falling asleep and not drunk. That may be the truth, but if it were me, even if I was just tired, I'd say... "Hell yeah!!!!! I was hammered! It was New Year's Eve for Christ's sake! Ya'all can eat a dick! Ya herd?"

Check The Panic Channel site for upcoming tour dates with Supernova.
