Getting Ready For Tour
(Siggy of Powerman 5000) So The Panic Channel started up rehearsals yesterday for our upcoming tour with Supernova. It was our first day with Siggy on bass and I have to say that the guy is insane on that thing! We will miss Chris Chaney on this leg of the tour, but we all understand that family comes first! Meanwhile, Siggy has it all wired and has brought his own flavor to the sound and stage. Plus, he is just cool as hell. Anyway, for our shows with Supernova, we have a 45 minute set. We do have some longer club shows on our own when Supernova has days off, but for the most part, we will be hitting it and quitting it. For the die hards: If there are any particular songs you would like to hear in the 45 minute set, let us know now. Our plan is to pretty much just go hard and loud for all of it, with maybe an acoustic Outsider as a palate cleanser. As for Supernova... I saw them in Vegas and I have to say that they are awesome. Tommy, Lukas and Gilby really have something there and their new bass player is holding it down as if he has been there the whole time. It's gonna be a really fun tour to see... Certainly to be on!

Cool!
Dave, any webcasts from the road?
Posted by: Morisson at January 4, 2007 11:51 AM
Dave...there have been a lot of negative things said in the past few days about Supernova's performance on NYE, especially about Lukas appearing to be inebriated on stage and Tommy having a "titty cam". Please tell all us die-hard Supernova fans that this was just opening night jitters or something. Maybe you could give Lukas some advice on living a rock n roll life without living it stupidly. Regardless of Supernova...I'd come just to see you. Love you and rock on.

Steve made a post about "final" TPC dates. Any insight? Is this our last chance to see TPC? If so...I want to try like HELL to make it to the Milwaukee show to see you guys! It's a long ass drive for me!

DENVER Request***
Outsider - Don't forget the bongos (lol)
Blue Bruises
Listen
Night One
Bloody Mary

Pod casts from the road would be great like last time.
It would be even better if the Agency Members could meet do a meat-n-greet (oops Freudian slip) with the band. I'm not dissin RSSN but I'm paying $$$ to see TPC, not RSSN.
Waiting in anticipation...

Hmmmm, very interesting indeed. Any sociologist would have a field day with this one: soon after the first Rock Star (INXS), I fell asleep one Friday night w/the telly on and woke at 6am to find the OG INXS band members playing live in NY on the NBC morning show, without J.D. He was too wasted to stay on stage and then he did come on stage but barely could get the words out. It was just sad. "Party like a rock star!" Maybe not.

Who is the new bass player for Supernova?
Posted by: Lisa at January 4, 2007 12:17 PM
Where's. the. Love?! 45minutes? You're leaving NY to do a show in Pittsburgh? I need to have a word with the tour mgr here. There MUST BE a exclusive show in NYC somewhere. if he/she can't get it, I WILL DAMMIT. Anyway, glad I kept notes on my lineup req for the show (jotted this down listening to ipod while on an airplane a few mnths ago, what a geek)

Hey everyone.
I have a request. Dave can you guys play Dazed and Confused when you come to Oakland? (I saw you play it in S.F.) You guys killed it. I cannot even describe how cool it was to see you guys play that. Thanks and see you in Oak-town.
Much love, CC

Suggestion, Fam--make a thread at the Asylum for show-by-show suggestions so Dave can keep track of who asked for what.
Dave, thanks for asking :)
Posted by: Sue at January 4, 2007 02:32 PM
Hard and loud always works. Looking forward to the AC show!
Requests... requests for AC... hmm...
Maybe a Bon Jovi cover, being that it's Jersey and all. (Not!)
Zeppelin covers are always great. Something classic that everyone knows and loves and can rock out to.
Or maybe "Venus in Furs" so that the crowd can hear your sexy voice.
Or maybe something totally unexpected and fun... like, say, a rockin' cover of "Trapped in the Closet".
I'm sure the set will be awesome, whatever it is.
Posted by: Denise at January 4, 2007 02:47 PM

(For those of you who are in other area's of the US you can follow the link to get to the place where you can start your own show's thread)
Thanks for the interest, DN! :)

I'm with Slice on this one... it's a bummer that there are no longer TPC only shows in NYC.
However, NJ is SO close... and you've got the 25th free and available the night before Atlantic City... and coincidentally, the Starland Ballroom (http://www.starlandballroom.com) is a great rock club and they have no one booked for the 25th!!! Throw into the mix that it's no more than 30 minutes from NYC, on the way to Atlantic City...
It couldn't be more perfect. Is this, or the addition of any other club shows at all possible?
Spreading a brainstorm,
Deena
Posted by: Deena13 at January 4, 2007 07:17 PM
oh... and to show it's a cool club, Powerman 5000 is booked there for March 18th.... no shit.

Hi baby brother! My favorite TPC song is "Left to Lose". Maybe you could include "Highway to Hell" followed by "Stairway to Heaven" HAHA.
In case you're interested (so you can avoid me, haha?) I will be at the Long Beach Concert. xoxo

Dave,
I know you have to say "nice things" about SNRS, I know what I saw and heard in Las Vegas, and they suck. I was hoping for much more and it wasn't delivered, they don't have the material. I spent a good sum of money to see TPC with Chris on bass, SNRS with Jason on bass, the House Band and so on... . My money will be well spent just to see TPC and then I'm out of there. We are seeing you in Long Beach and I really hope you find the way to play more than 45 mins!

I heard some bad reviews concerning RSSN too, and it makes me sad. I'm afraid Lukas is fucking up his career because he drinks too much. God knows how much I love him, but what happened to the sweet young man I met at the Rockstar tapings?
Posted by: Linda from San Diego at January 4, 2007 09:35 PM
Happy New Year Dave...
Can't wait to see you. So what's this about Kid Rock attempting to kick TLee's butt on NYE. Instead he and his body guards ha ha ha pounded on some poor unexpecting family's door. Buddy went to the wrong floor HA HA HA HA what do you think about that? Pretty immature
As for the bad reviews RSSN received, screw them. The media has harped on them from day one. Anything for a story.
Posted by: aramat at January 4, 2007 09:41 PM
Hey Dave. :-) Glad you had an awesome time for New Year's Eve. :-) I'm pleased you got to see RSSN's outside performance, even though I hear the sound system was a bit f'd and it was really cold. It's cool you put out the good word for the boys in that interview, too. :-) Apparently, their NYE and NYD shows were even better. Yeah, Johnny Colt is getting great reviews, Gilby was hitting some sweet notes (I just love seeing which guitar/s he's going to play each night--he has such an amazing collection LOL) and Lukas and Tommy were in their 'zones.'
Siggy sounds like he's going to tear it up with you guys--can't wait. He *looks* like a madman--in the best possible ways. LOL :-) 45 minute set: that's good, actually. Let's see, for Vancouver at the Queen E: Add me to the list of Zep cover fans. You guys are insane on those--and I also have a soft spot for tunes by "The Cult." :-) Definitely want to hear all the TPC songs where you get to seriously rock out and solo. "Loophole" is a frickin' dope tune, too, bro. :-) But, anything you guys play is going to be unhinged, so it's allll good. :-) I'm just thrilled that I'll be there and get to see y'all perform live. Is it too soon to start jumping up and down with excitement (concert is in February LOL)? ^^
Oh, man, when I think about you, Lukas, Johnny, Toby, Tommy and all the rest of the guys in one place, together, that's going to be frickin' wild. LOL You boys are going to have sooooo much fun. :-) Hope y'all enjoy every minute of it and that everyone (especially the bassists--knock on my wooden head LOL) has a charmed tour. :-)

Hi - Don't mean to clog the blog here, but a tour-related question popped into my head last night:
Wasn't this tour supposed to include some of the other rockers/contestants from RSSN? (Toby, Dilana, Ryan, etc. I know Storm dropped out or whatever, but I thought the others remained.) Will they be making cameo appearances during the SN set, or were those plans scrapped altogether?
Just curious... I was looking forward to seeing some of them on this tour.

Hello Friends,That's the way, unfortunatly you want
be performing in my area though i'll be there in spirit "best wishes"
anyway my question is if rockstar was such a huge
success which it is what would your thoughts on a
guitar player oriented show with hosts and guests
like yourself and other great sonic surfers judging wanna be guitar heros with performances and a play off (cuttin heads) similar to a G3 concert for the bottom three I don't know if it would have a strong audience following but sure the minion of guitar players and musicians would enjoy it

Dave,
By the sounds of it, TPC's set will be the only one worth seeing on the Supernova tour. Also Juke Kartel (Toby), if they are even still on the bill.
I'm not surprised to see all the bad reviews of Supernova as the album wasn't that great. You better talk to your buddy Tommy ... before the tour becomes a bust. Having 'She Won't Last' on your setlist will be appropriate for this tour.

woo hoo! lots o posts. Just had to say, heard your blog from NYE quoted on the rock news today -about Britney being drunk. The report indicated that you were after her?-because you defended her- EEK> Your blog is becoming world famous DN :) Hope to finally hear a CFR. Your blog has been quoted on Google and Blabbermouth. Keep up the good work-Luv ya, Db

Hey Dave, I wish you guys a good tour. Would be great to catch one of your shows. I've been meaning to ask if your back's totally ok now or still reminding of itself from time to time? The reason I'm asking now, is because I got my back all fucked up once again during my five day snowboarding stint over New Years. Been on your diet for the past two days. Watched almost all of the second season of Lost as I missed pretty much all of it when it was on tv, and we all know that's not the way to watch it anyhow. The painkillers don't make it easy however because I seem to fall asleep after every other episode.
Also, have you had time to read James Frey's A Million Little Pieces yet or have you ever even had any intention to? I reckon, and please don't get this the wrong way, that it would deal in the kind of territory to which you could relate to somehow as in the experiences that you depicted in DTTAH. I'm only in the first third of the book, but I find it both heavy and thought raising, definitely an interesting piece. Take care, Pekka

I was at the show in Vegas day AFTER NYE ... quick review - don't know what happened to Toby's band being the opening act, some band from Nashville opened - they were totally unmemorable, the lead singer was kind of cute, that's all I can really say about that.
Lukas did not appear to be at all wasted or drunk, but I was not far from the front and you just could not hear him. I don't believe it was him I believe it was a overall sound thing/problem... I don't know.... They only played 45 minutes, it seemed very short.
Tommy DID have a titty cam (which did not suprise me, come on its T LEE !!!), and girls in the audience were more than happy to oblige - which is fine.
I was really pulling for Lukas to rock it, but I left a little too drunk and a little underwhelmed, maybe I was too excited.
Because of all the line-up changes on the tour and confusion (the ticket site linked by T Lee's site still shows TPC with them on NYE, which we all know was not the case) and now no Toby, its kind of like whatever.
Hope all the other shows rock!!

Hey Dave,
Well, since you asked! Here are my requests for the Toronto show:
Teahouse
Bloody Mary
She Won't Last
Left to Lose
Why Cry
I'm not concerned about the negative reviews of the NYE show. I have friends that went and they said, other than the sound quality problem, the show was great.
See you Jan. 24th!
Beth

Dave, just bought tickets for your Jan 18th Atlanta show at the Roxy. Am so excited since the last show I saw was the acoustic at the Dragonfly (the Paris Hilton night). Can't wait to see you guys plugged in and rocking. Throw in some screamin' Steve Isaacs metal tunes into the set in Atlanta. And everyone thing off ONe please.
Hope you guys enjoy coming down to the Dirty Dirty.

EMAIL THE PREZ and tell him we want out of Iraq. Sure, it will hurt the pockets that feed on Bush, but it will save lives and broken hearts.

Silence is golden -but don't forget to email W and tell him (btw, he never served any real military time and when he was in the National Guard he got daddy to help him dodge) to NOT send over any more troops. Saddam is dead, or as I used to like to call him, Maddass, so 4get about Halaburtin (sp) and bring them home. Let's get him concentrate on his 3mile Island plants he wants to build over here already....j/k.

It was a mega-party weekend

"What a stellar weekend of five-star events this was in Orange County: from the stunning "Swan Lake" by the Kirov Ballet at OCPAC to raw-sexy Camp Freddy at the Samueli Theater next door, from Detroit Bar's classy-friendly 5th anniversary party to Etnies' raw and raunchy 20th anniversary...."
'Raw-sexy' got to love the O.C. journalist 4 at calling you all that, prolly the first time, huh? haha.

Speaking of the O.C. - how bummed was I that Fox's OC was cancelled this week. Watching the yummy Adam Brody and Benjamin McKenzie was often the highlight of my week. It's just not fair!
Posted by: tommennard at January 6, 2007 07:19 AM
That really sucks! I love The OC.
More time to spend at Dave's blog...I guess.
