2007 & The Panic Channel Tour Dates
New Year's Eve was a lot of fun in Vegas this year. I stopped by Carson's NYE Show from Vegas where I was witness to the first ever public Supernova performance. Those guys killed it live from Freemont Street and looked, sounded and performed really well. It was exciting to see as The Panic Channel are about to go on tour with them for a couple months. Since I had my own party to host at Tangerine, I wasn't able to catch their NYE show at The Joint, so I was happy to see them playing when I showed up for a quick interview about the night's festivities. I then went over to my party where I got to countdown the New Year with Grandmaster Flash, a long time hero of mine. After that, I headed over to Pure to join my friend Shannon Elizabeth and her poker pro friends for a little late night hang time.
(To be filed under: Whatever!) Evidently, Britney passed out at the club after the countdown. The press seems to be making a big deal out this. Come on now, it was fucking New Year's Eve! I saw people passed out all over town that night. Not that I am some big champion of Britney's, but if a girl can't drink herself into oblivion on New Year's Eve, then when can she? One thing I have noticed in 2006 is that the celeb trash gossip stuff has just gotten WAY out of control. With the advent of digital cameras, cell phone technology, gossip blogs and paparazzi everywhere, the days of any kind of personal time or mystique for big name entertainers are long gone. If you think about it, if you followed "anyone" around for long enough, you could put together some kind of scandalous story or find moments when they don't look perfect. Whatever... None of it lasts for very long anyway. Britney issued a statement saying she was tired and falling asleep and not drunk. That may be the truth, but if it were me, even if I was just tired, I'd say... "Hell yeah!!!!! I was hammered! It was New Year's Eve for Christ's sake! Ya'all can eat a dick! Ya herd?"
Check The Panic Channel site for upcoming tour dates with Supernova.

hi dave and fam! lucky you to meet the grandmaster - he rox...sending love and positive vibes. (dave - did you get the glowstix out for the nite?)

I also love all the crap the press gives Britney because "she's a mom..blah blah..blah." Life doesn't end when you have children. Granted, your prioroties become different but it's not like you crawl in a hole and die or exist only to serve your kids.
Have a great day, Dave.

Hell yeah about NYE! I have FAR more respect for those who are forthright about their partying and whatnot than those who try to explain away everything and do constant damage control.
The one twist to this Britney incident is that she WAS hosting the party, no? A little unprofessional IMO, but whatever.
As for celebrity mystique vs. gossip, I think it's a wacky chicken/egg thing these days... For instance, which is more absurd? A pop star exposing his/her privates in a crowded, public place, or someone snapping a picture of it?
We are living in very strange times. On that note, once again, Happy New Year. Good riddance to 2006 and hello to 2007! All the best!

Happy New Year everyone~ Every1 I know and don't was in Vegas but I didn't go (work). Damn, that was the place to be this year, without a doubt. Glad to hear you rung it in right. And I have to add, what a perfect first blog to ring in 2007 here. That's why we keep coming back. We love DN6767! Ps. And please, let's think this out: she is barely 25 with 2 kids and has been sheltered whether she asked for it or not and was married to, well I will spare you the rest....."LET HER GET DRUNK & *#@* in the mud like an American girl does!" Anna Nicole prolly said that, sometime. ;)

I think you celebs will need one of those 'hologram scrambler suits' soon, so you can go outside. (you know from Philip K. Dick's novel?)
Must be such a drag. No thanks.
What's up with the dave TV? That looks cool...very clever marketing, I might add. What kind of videos are you looking for? Just music? or will you post art-type stuff too?
curious.

Gotta tell ya - I kissed a DN look a like New Year's. He was the lead singer in a band playing at the party I went to. As soon as I saw him, I said OMG he looks like Dave. My girlfriend and I hung around with the guys playing poker after the gig and this DN look a like kid was drunk and loaded off his ass. He insisted on a kiss so he got one. No I did not take advantage of him - damn!! - lol Dave you have any mini mes running around? If so, they are hot - just like you!
Posted by: Cagirlygirl at January 2, 2007 01:38 PM
Hmmm....I kind of disagree on this one Dave. I think she may be headed to rehab pretty soon...and if she needs it, I hope so. Would be frickin' sad for those two kids to lose their Mom.
Getting tipsy on New Years Eve....sure, I did it too. But if you're drinking/drugging until you pass out...something is wrong.
Much respect and love.

Happy New Year, Dave!
Not to get political, but it seems that the celebrity gossip overload started almost directly after 9/11. I smell conspiracy!
Remember when celebrities were referred to by first and last name? I miss those days.
Posted by: Theresa at January 2, 2007 01:55 PM
Hi Dave, welcome home! I'm glad you had fun ringing in the new year.
The Britney deal, well seeing I'm clean and sober, it upsets me to see people get plastered. I don't know the story, and if she doesn't have a drinking problem, well that's different. Looks like Mel Gibson has been defending her too, at least about the pantie escapade.
Posted by: Linda from San Diego at January 2, 2007 01:56 PM
drunk? hell, i was so sick and beat i freakin' fell asleep on the couch at 11:45 and my wife and kids had to wake me up 14 minutes later to welcome in the new year...HAHAHAHAHAHA!
here's to a new year!

Happy New Year!
I completely agree that celeb trash gossip is out of control. For example, take the E! channel. Over the years it has morphed from Entertainment tv to EntertainER tv. The focus has shifted from music, television and movies to the lifestyles of those musicians, actors and actresses (and the all-important celebrity, famous for being famous).
Is it a case of supply and demand? And we as the consumers are to blame? Or are we simply just ordering off of the menu and digesting what is placed before us?
Wishing all of you the best in 2007!

Posted by: Caffeinated Sue at January 2, 2007 02:01 PM
I'm clean and sober as well, and have been for ten years. I think it is a HUGE leap to assume that because someone is "partying" they automatically have a drinking or drug problem. Most ppl go through a time in their life where they drink or drug a little too much. For many, it's called college. LOL Britney didn't have that opportunity. She went from protected teen queen to wife/mother in a blink of an eye. That's a hard adjustment, and perhaps what we are seeing is a bit of rebellion to that "mom" label that will eventually die down.
As far as the panty incident, if she wasn't famous, no one would give a rat's ass that she spread her legs while getting out of a car.

I think reality shows have kind of played into the whole media craze, too. We see some start out as "just one of us" and partly due to "us" they become famous. Stars are no longer looked at as larger than life.
Posted by: isis at January 2, 2007 02:15 PM
Shannon Elizabeth?
Dave, I think I just filled the cup :-)
How lucky can 1 guy be, spending new year with Shannon E...
Posted by: tonto1% at January 2, 2007 02:19 PM
That's the thing about Britney, Dave. She's not a smart girl, or she may have responded like you suggested a long time ago. If she had, I don't think she would have become the joke she is now.
Btw, did you see the interview with Matt Lauer when she looked super white trash, replete with chewing gum and smeared mascara? Dude, that was some funny shit!
Posted by: Dana at January 2, 2007 02:44 PM
Dave,
Thanks for another anti-tabloid rant. Wish people would understand the ratzies couldn't sell that crap if people weren't lined up to buy it.
Wish people would realize how stressful the constant harrasment can be.
Wish people knew all the lies, lies, lies being told, and how hurtful they can be.
Ah well, another year, suppose there's hope.
Best of luck on the tour...

Dave, What do you think of this:
Dave Navarro is fucking up the Panic Channel by doing this reality TV shit. Two years in a row the whole band has had to take three months off, which resulted in having to delay the making of the album for ages and now having to not tour/not release a single; Navarro had a brand new band with a brand new album, and at the time of the album's release, a crucial time to promote this band, he basically said 'fuck you guys, im gona do some tv'... anyway, the band's in a pretty dire situation yeah? Agreed?
It's funny that this is the EXACT same thing Dave and Perk apparently 'split up' jane's addiction the last time for, 'wanting to make music' rather having to wait for perry's other projects.

Glad ya had a good time i myself went to a dance where i dressed so hot i think i near set my own car into flames just to arive and the dance didnt even start till 12 because the caterer was an hr and a half almost two hrs late the food wasnt properly cooked, and up until about 15 after midnight id have had a better tune if i was dancing in an elevator so iwas outta there before one and rocking at home instead .i hate realy bad dinner/elevator music, ruined my night but at least i looked hot as hell.

Here I am working out listening to my att/yahoo Music Launchcast. You know where you rate the music. It plays like a radio and lo and behold...Dilana comes on with her version of Roxanne. LOL! I knew the girl wasn't going to win the contest. But, damn, see can sing for sure. I'm interested in the rest of the album so I gave it 4 stars to see what she has.
DILANA...ROXANNE!

"Dave, What do you think of this:"
re: the above -
I wish I could get really get into that... I do see how it could appear way. Let's just say that a certain corporate outlet wasn't even interested in supporting us until I got a job at CBS. In that sense, taking time off actually helped us get our record out. The show ended almost 5 months ago and things are still in a state of confusion. You can easily do the math as to where the burden of blame lies. The good news is that we are finally going on tour. I have posted the dates above.

Gossip is for people whose lives of their own have no purpose. They have nothing better to do than to poke and prod at the lives of celebs. They wish their own lives were half as interesting as yours Dave, so they make up stuff to bring attention to themselves. Kudos to you for keeping your fans on top of what's going on @ all times. Love you Dave. Love a Peach

Britney is a mother with children. She could lose them to that vapid airbag of stupidity for shit like this.
I'm not sure, but I don't think any kid wants to see her mother passed out drunk or even hear about it! Not to mention her snatch shots all around the world!

HNY Dave. You rock but I have a 4 1/2 year old daughter who adores you! Her name is Jenna and she got a guitar for Christmas and you have to check her out. I am amazed! She loved watching your show Rock Star and she really rocks and loves to be "onstage". Check her out on YouTube...2 in concert videos with original songs and 1 is a guitar solo and the last is her after concert interview. She rocks. Watch out Dave and happy New Year! You Rock!

Not up to sleeping tonight. I started making a list of everything I want to do in my life before I die. Of course I don't when I am going to die, but I want to party and play like it's tomorrow. I want to live as if it's tomorrow. So I started my list and that's why I can't sleep. The ideas are just flying out of me. One of the items on my list is to fly to where ever the Panic Channel plays. I want to watch the band practice and just hang. Go to one of their concerts and just get lost in the music. Which I do now all too often on my iPod, but being in front of you guys would be the ultimate to my list. This will happen. My list is becoming a total conquest for me, when I complete it and complete doing each item on it I will start over on a new one.
Honeslty I was inspired by one of your songs. Pretty fucking fun for me to be able to relate to a song, especially with a band that rocks it so much.
TPN I love you guys and everything you are creating. Thank you.
With All My Love;
Kimberly

Dave,
Sounds like you sure had fun! I just had some friends over and we drank wine and listened to some of my old Broadway albums.
For 2007 I'm resolving to get braces (and straighten out my teeth), lose 20 lbs, and then finally take that trip to the Greek islands that I've always dreamed about.
Fondly,
Tom

HAPPY NEW YEAR, although it's day three the wishes for a great 362 days to follow are strong!
Thought it was quite sweet of you to defend Britters. As for that comment above about you and perk splitting up jane's cos of perry's other committments doesn't that oversimplify things?
Dave seems to me that whatever you do, no matter how fab it is, ie The Panic Channel (fucking awesome) and your "other projects" (we wouldn't have the new entertainment loft to look forwards to unless you were behind the whole reality entertainment concept and don't rockgods still have bills to pay these days?) someone always wants to stir crap, be bitter and raise issues. They can fuck off. I love that you answer back and don't take it - let's hope that 2007 is more about the music and the talent and less about the bitchin! You never know, you may even decide to bring The Panic Channel over here to the UK and kick all our asses to heaven like we've been begging. The thought of seeing you live again... Blimey guv.... sending hypnotising vibes... woooo woooo UK UK UK.... spooky voice over "Dave... you want to play.... the yew kay...."
BIG love. xxxxxx

What? No TPC date for Houston? :( You were still married when ya'll were her last May so I didn't get to rock you Texas-style! Ha! I was really hoping for a shot this time around! I did get to meet you, though, and you were even more beautiful in person. You truly seem to be the sweetest and most genuine guy. Nothing like one might expect considering your fame and popularity with the ladies. It would be easy to see how all of that could get to a guy's head but you really don't seem like that at all!
I don't give a rat's ass about all of the celeb gossip, etc., I don't have time in my life to care about what people I don't know and will probably never meet are doing, saying, showing....but I will admit that anything I see that has to do with you grabs my full attention! I'm not a crazy, obsessed fan...just a girl who has fallen under your spell. I would love you if you weren't famous ;o BTW, do you ever find yourself attracted to latinas, or do my anglo sisters have the market cornered? Anyway, I'll keep checking the tour dates to see if you guys will make it down here....I promise I'll make it worth your while. Moi!

You speak the total truth for the common person. Unless you live your life like a Stepford then people could get dirt on you at some point. Hell, I can think of several moments in the last month where I would be making US Weekly headlines if I was famous.

HAPPY NEW YEAR DAVE....Great to hear SNRS sounds good. I'm excited about the tour. As far as Brit goes...who CARES...I'm clean 23 yrs and did my share of passing out for sure and don't hold that against anyone as long as your not hurting anyone.(well maybe self haha)
I went to see PATTI SMITH last sat eve for my New years eve party at the bowery ballroom in NYC for her 60th birthday bash...What a great time and had a hell of a time sober. She slapped me five during the show which is my highlight....My fav female performer of all time

Dave have to disagree with the Brit just having a good time. She was wasted out of her mind. I was there and she was in a state!!!!

I see the name imposters are back. I guess if someone takes enough time out of their own life to spend it on mine then that's kind of a good thing for me but what happens to yours...exactly NOTHING

I just heard Brit checked herself in to Sanctuary on New Year's Day. Sanctuary aka rehab
Interesting.
Posted by: Tonya at January 3, 2007 09:54 AM
So what if britney was drunk everyone needs to have fun once in a while. after being married to that asshole she needs a long break and some time to party. that doesn't make her a bad mother. i have three young daughters and if someone had a camera on me all the time i'd probably look bad atleast once. and i'm a damn good mother!!!!
Posted by: lisa at January 3, 2007 11:03 AM
Happy new year Dave and the 6767 bloggers! 2007 - -NICE!
Bummer, no Albuquerque on that tour date list - -maybe next time. We'll see. Think maybe sometime my daughter and I will catch you in L.A. when we go out for a visit (grew up there). The truth, I'd rather just spend my money on The Panic Channel, not with Supernova. Can't get into them. To each his/her own.
And yes, I'm very much alive, but being a mother, I try to set example, even though that's not always perfect - I'm human. No one's parents are perfect. Sounds like Brittney is trying to figure stuff out - - or NOT (denial), but either way, if she can't seem to figure it all out right now - - can WE? If I were "famous" - - I'd definately want to be a writer or an artist, so people would know my name - - but NOT my face. If I had people following me around all day, yeah, I'd act out too. Whatever. Yeah Dave, that's definately one for the whatever category.
Anyway - - hadn't written in a while; thought I'd wish you a happy new year and best wishes for a good tour, making people happy with you music.
