The In-Between Week

Hope all of your holiday plans went well. Mine were great. Spent Christmas Day with the family and Christmas Eve with Todd and his family. Now, I find myself in that week between Christmas and New Years with not much to do as my office is closed for the holidays. New Year's Eve is locked with a party at Tangerine in Vegas, followed by our tour with Supernova a few weeks later. For the time being I have been mainly chillin and catching up on Lost, Studio 60, Heroes and Battlestar Galactica with a few nights out here and there. I have also been rockin a few SRL shows this week. So I know it's not Saturday, but maybe I can get to an early Sunday 10 (please no X Mas questions) as I really have nothing to report... or do!

1. Is there going to be another installment of Rock Star?

We really don't know at the moment. As soon as I know, you will know.

2. I was wondering if you will have any input on the Jane's Addiction box set?

We just put out the "Best Of" so I'm not sure if this is still a go. I could be wrong though, I just haven't been in the loop regarding this release. I wonder...

3. How can we download Camp Freddy podcasts from iTunes without the music being edited out?

You would have to capture the show as it airs from the Indie site. We have to remove the music for legal reasons on the Podcasts.

4. Who is your favorite Battlestar Galactica character?

Without a doubt, Tricia Helfer as Number Six... Sexy, beautiful, manipulative, controlling, brilliant, spiritual, dangerous, part machine... She is everything a man could ask for!

5. Will you make a New Years resolution? What will it be?

I'm not really into resolutions for New Years. If there is something worth changing or accomplishing, I figure it's best to just do it and not wait for a date.

6. Since you'll be in Vegas, any chance those of us who have RSSN tickets for Jan 1st will get a surprise glimpse of DN?

No, I'll be across town at the Tangerine doing my own thing and then I am meeting up with the Camp Freddy boys after the New Year hits. Many people are confused abut the NYE Supernova show. TPC is not on that show, just the tour which starts almost 2 weeks later.

7. When you did your interview on Much Music with Leigha and you made all the sexual references were you doing it to joke and make fun or was she just annoying you or what?

HAHA... I don't remember that at all. I probably just thought she was hot!

8. When you really want to charm a woman, what sort of date would you plan?

Wow... It has been so long since I have been on a "proper" date that I wouldn't even know where to begin. Then again, it's really all about the company and not the plan as far as I'm concerned.

9. Any chance at some of the off dates from the upcoming tour with Supernova being used for some side shows?

Absolutely! We will be doing some small club dates on our off nights on the tour. As soon as I have the dates and locations, they will be posted here and at the TPC site.

10. Do you ever feel overwhelmed trying to keep up with all this Internet stuff (the blog, MySpace, SRL, IM, etc.)?

No, it has become part of my morning ritual along with my many cups of coffee. If I ever need a break, I just shut it all down for a day or two.

Hey Dave,

Happy Holidays!

I was wondering if you will have any input on the Jane's Addiction box set? If you do, can you push to have some old shows from the original lineup released. Some audio and video! Sorry if this question has been asked before.

I have something to say to you!
You need to wake up!

Sunday ten question. With shows like Lost and Heros, do you find it a better viewing experience if you watch them one after another compared to watching them on TV? Also if you like shows like Lost and Heros I would also recommend Alias.

What are your thoughts on Criminal Minds (assuming that you watch it)?

I love it; it's deep, dark, cerebral, and psychological.

about boxed sets...did you nab the boxed set of the West Wing? all seven seasons? I know you had your connections that were bringing it to you season by season, but, I gotta tell ya, I'd like to have the official...

I thought it was pretty ironic that you and Todd were talking about watching JFK and Nixon, making it an Oliver Stone presidential movie night, and then when you signed off, there was the breaking news about Gerald Ford...did you find out soon after? Did you end up watching the flicks?

ok, rambling post almost over
Do you think any Panic Channel songs lend themselves to mashups?

Posted by: bi at December 28, 2006 12:50 AM

yay - nice to have you slammin back into the online world. Have you found that your smoking is a problem? I actually really liked smoking personally but now I've stopped again (this time for 4 years) I really notice how much it stinks and all the bad points. But that still never stopped me picking up and re-starting previously - it's just with party time everyone seems to smoke (and enjoy it!) And I wondered as you gave every other addiction up if you ever think about stopping?

Posted by: Max Danieli at December 28, 2006 03:56 AM

Hi Dave!

Sounds like you had a relaxing holiday. When you go on tour, what do you do when you aren't performing?

Always,
me

Posted by: Angel at December 28, 2006 04:24 AM

About the Jane's box set - Eric said he met with Rhino a couple of weeks ago to talk to them about it. They basically asked him what he wanted to see on it. I find it strange that you haven't been contacted. I really hope Steve is involved with this since he seemed to be the one in the band to collect the recordings. It would be nice if everyone was involved.

Posted by: ...... at December 28, 2006 04:51 AM

Dave

I know that Rockstar has traditionally focused on finding a new singer for an existing or newly formed band but given that these situations are relatively rare why not shake things up a bit and this year look for new bands to compete. I realize that this maybe a bit more exspensive to pull off but it would be cool. Same idea as your Indie contest but on a bigger scale. Instead of it being 15 rockers it could be 5 bands who compete for a record deal.

Just a tought.

Merry Christmas, Happy New year and happy birthday to all of those like me who seem to get ripped off because our birthdays fall in between these major holidays...lol.

Posted by: noelle at December 28, 2006 06:17 AM

P.S. Criminal Minds is an awesome show - almost as cool as Numbers.

you should consider making SRL a Podcast. Have you thought of doing that?

by the way, definitely watch Dexter on showtime. Other than 24, it's the best show on TV in years!

It's not much of a question, more of a suggestion: Now that Criminal Minds season 1 is out on DVD check it out...I seriously think you'll love it!!!

There's even Nine Inch Nails music in one episode!

On your upcoming tour you will be performing in large arenas, do you still prefer smaller more intimate venues?

Posted by: Linda from San Diego at December 28, 2006 09:10 AM

Question.... since you'll be in Vegas, any chance those of us who have RSSN tickets for Jan 1st will get a suprise glimpse of the sexy ass DN? It would be like the iciing on the cupcake! And maybe some of the Camp Freddy crew, that would be sprinkles on the iciing on the cupcake!

Sup Sexy!!!

Glad to hear you had a great christmas and are on your way to having a kick ass rocking New Years!!! Any plans to get your boogie on to some tight ass break beats with the Grand Master on the wheels of steel???

I wanted to share with you that I love your homie Todd and when he's on spread!!! The two of you crack me up non stop...so to know you spent christmas eve with him and his family warms my heart knowing you were surrounded by mad family love!!! speaking of which; how'd your christmas stocking come out???

Hi Dave,

I wanted to thank you for making yourself so available to your fans and for giving a glimpse into the "Rockstar" life. After reading your posts it sounds like you make it a priority to have fun in life but it also seems, like most people, life has it's challenges. It seems you have a real down to earth manner which is a breath of fresh air in a crazy world. Best of luck on the upcoming tour.

Posted by: Randy at December 28, 2006 09:26 AM

Hey -

I hear ya when it comes to the week between Christmas and NYE... For me, it feels like a weird state of emotional limbo in spite of all the work on my plate.

QUESTION if you're still looking for one:

???
Do you ever feel overwhelmed trying to keep up with all this internet stuff (the blog, MySpace, SRL, IM, etc.)? Or is it 'par for the course' for you at this point? Is it rewarding, draining, or both?
???

Thx/cheers,

Posted by: Denise at December 28, 2006 09:47 AM

Somebody said something about dreaming a while back.... here was one topic of conversation at my Christmas gathering this past weekend: Can you fly in your dreams? It was pretty interesting hearing the differences in everyone's methods and what types of situations provoked "dream flight". So, Dave, I'll extend the question to you. Are you a flyer?

Li

Dave!

You are about to be featured on Access Hollywood - we watch it at lunchtime - and you keep appearing on the screen. It is about your encounter with the holocaust survivor and your tattoo.....

Will you make a New Years resolution? What will it be?

ALways,
me

Posted by: Angel at December 28, 2006 09:54 AM

So sorry to bother you again Dave, but I forgot to include this in my last question:

Will you be posting podcasts from the road again? I really enjoyed them on your last tour. You are a such a good storyteller, so it felt like we were on the tour with you.

Posted by: Linda from San Diego at December 28, 2006 10:10 AM

Who Hoo...caught you on Access last night. What a nice surprise. I let out a squeal when I saw you and my husband looked at me like I had lost my mind...a very funny moment. You looked great.

Question: Are the new SRL's in rotation yet?

Another One: I see TPC has added a few shows on the east coast in between the RSSN dates. Any idea if more TPC shows will be added...perhaps on the west coast. I'd love to catch you guys in a smaller venue! Sorry if these are repeats....

Posted by: Dawna at December 28, 2006 10:15 AM

Hey man, Heres a question for your Sunday 10...

In your book you write at one point
"Love Does Exist; However, only moment to moment and never for a lifetime... Love Fades."

I was just wondering if you like stole this quote from somewhere, because i think its pretty amazing, and also i just wondered if you still feel this way now?

Posted by: Justin100 at December 28, 2006 10:56 AM

Hi, Dave!

I've been away from here for a while due to health problems, could someone fill me in--who is Todd? For the life of me I can't figure it out. But I can say he's one lucky duck for being able to go to the movies with Dave and then have him over on Christmas Eve!!!

If there is another installment of Rockstar, would you host it for a girl band? It seems like there were a lot of great female contestants who would've had a stronger chance with a female group.

Do you have perfect pitch?

Posted by: Max Danieli at December 28, 2006 01:29 PM

P.S. Why the hell is everyone so concerned with what you watch on TV??? Geez. Freak them all out and confess you're obessed with Sesame Street 'cause Big Bird is friggin hot!

Posted by: MidnightSun at December 28, 2006 01:31 PM

Rockstar: Girl Band would be pretty sweet, Sunny. I think it would also be cool to change it up and have the search be for a guitarist or other musician, not necessarily a front person.

Back to question #6 - thank you thank you for the response, BUT I was asking about the show on the 1st not the 31st .... if you are still in Vegas on the 1st we are hoping you'll make a suprise visit!

Sorry to be a pain but I have a bunch of girls wanting and hoping you'll make an appearance at their show on the 1st, day after NYE - thanks again for the first reply

We will bring you cupcakes........

~thanks!

Posted by: luckystarz at December 28, 2006 03:13 PM

I wondered if you would ever consider donating to a sperm bank.

Posted by: daft at December 28, 2006 03:20 PM

Okay luckystarz, this 39 yr old oldtimer will tell you that Dave is going to start the tour TWO weeks later with RSSN, to answer that question and

DEEZ NUTZ is a joke that Dave played on us fans, just a saying. We also played a joke on DN back!

Back to the rocking chair:)

Posted by: Danni from ND at December 28, 2006 03:24 PM

Danni - thanks for the reply, oldtimers did not imply age, it implied those who have been around DN site longer...... I'm only 3 years behind you in the age bracket

Also we know he's not playing with RSSN in Vegas, but we're hoping he'd be hanging out at the Hard Rock since RS has a show day after NYE - that was the original question.

Posted by: luckystarz at December 28, 2006 04:04 PM

I know! j/k Luv ya! Hope DN makes it for the cupcakes!

Which leads me to another kwestion, what is your favorite indulgence DMN?

Posted by: Danni from ND at December 28, 2006 04:08 PM

LOL !! favority DN indulgence, that's a tough one, all things DN - got say love the Camp Freddy radio, heard it when Dave was MIA and it wasn't the same without him and you?

Posted by: luckystarz at December 28, 2006 04:21 PM

Ok, now I just realized maybe the indulgence was directed at DN, not me, LOL, oh well ! Maybe it can be a new topic, everyone list your favorite thing about DN!

Posted by: luckystarz at December 28, 2006 04:25 PM

Any chance at some of the off dates from the upcoming tour with rockstar being used for some side shows? Like especially in NYC :hint hint:?

Posted by: George at December 28, 2006 04:27 PM

Actually I had the same question. And I do realize that everyone is probably asking for more side shows for TPC but I just would much rather spend my hard earned money seeing TPC, not inflating Tommy Less pockets anymore. Sorry...just was never a fan. So if not this Tour, perhaps some TPC dates outside of CA in the near future? :)

Dave,
When it comes to creative outlets, it seems that you never seem to be lacking. Yet, is there a time when you just want to say "Hey! Stop! Leave me alone! I need some space!" When and how do you make these choices?

Dave

We were kicking it in 6767 chat and played a little game, we had two minutes to write. We liked what we got and wrapped it up for you! If anything please get a kick out of it. Not to many chat rooms you get to chill with people like this. Fucking wicked man! That’s the shit were talking about! Anyways here’s to you honey from some of the 6767 Family. We call the game “Spit it out”, and clever enough we have made the first track self titled.

Yours Truly Babe!
exiled, danica

Spit it out!

For what it’s worth you’ve been a friend
To help me towards a bitter end
Faith has kept my spirit alive
And unlocked doors to the other side

Take me one more time’ free the minds of the living
Take me one more time’ Ill let you slip inside
Spread radio live

Slide down the backside of the things that you won't say
Cross into the places that you will never stay.
One hand over the other, and smoke another load

Take me one more time’ free the minds of the living
Take me one more time’ Ill let you slip inside
Spread radio live

Consume solitary perforate and then take it back.
The fights for sure yet nothings forever

Take me one more time’ free the minds of the living
Take me one more time’ Ill let you slip inside
Spread radio live

PS - please love up the Consume solitary perforate cause it is a round about way of the infamous Eat a dick!!! LOL Too much fun man!!

Hey Dave, thought of a question for the 10. This may or may not make it in, but I just have to ask. :p Did you and Billy ever have any success finding Crazy Dog Lady from the Camp Freddy broadcast in the beginning of the month?

Love divine transforms water into wine
Above intoxicating souls that dance
Below the waxing moon throwing shadows
Over silver stars hanging in her silkened sky

Thanks for answering my question, Dave!

Now, would you ever get involved with a project being presented for kids? Something like Kidz Bop - but real music.....

Always,
me

You have shown that you could be a very nice lyricist and singer (your voice often reminds me of Dave Gahan's). Your actual activities are divided in many side projects. Don't you miss expressing yourself artistically in a more personnal and centered way?

Dave, I read here that you do not like being called David, oh my faux pas, is this true? If so, I beg your pardon. And even more curious, why did I not know it...
