Sunday 10
So, we have a new winner over at Spread Radio Live for the Indie Artist of the Month. Congratulations to Present Tense! Thanks to everyone who participated and all our listeners for voting.
1. Your "End Of Broadcast" post here has all questioning if TPC has been dropped from Capitol, if you are breaking up, if you are flaking on tour dates with RSSN.
That's funny. Trust me if something comes down like that, I would just say so, I wouldn't be able to contain my disdain for the industry and be all cute and cryptic. All that my "End Of Broadcast" post meant was that I had closed 6767 for the day.
2. What does one do when they "host a party"?
You pretty much just show up and have a good time. For instance last night I went to this spot in Atlanta called Fever. They had a couple in house percussionists along with the DJ and they invited me to join them in a drum circle jam thing. That was pretty rad and different. For the most part we just hang and enjoy the company, which is not hard to do in Atlanta!
3. How on Earth did you end up presenting the "Best Country" category on the Billboard Awards? So strange... How did you feel about it?
Well, I was a little irritated of course when they switched me from the Rock to the Country category, but only because I wanted to support RHCP had they won. As it turned out, my category was in the first 15 minutes of the show which basically meant I could bounce out of there early and rest up for the evening's gatherings. Also, Wynonna is super nice and does a lot of work to help unsigned artists. It was cool getting to know her a little backstage before we went out there.
4. What is your reaction to Satellite Party having played Jane's songs at their gigs?
I think it's rad! Perry wrote those lyrics, he should sing them. Camp Freddy has done Mountain Song a few times with Courtney, Chester and Josh Todd.
5. Just wondering what you think of the things Perez is saying about Carmen and Joan Jett?
I think it's funny. Carmen and Joan are good friends and have been for a while.
6. When you are at a casino, is poker the only game that you play?
Poker is the only game I put any amount of time into. Sometimes I'll stroll over to Roulette and drop a stupid amount of cash on black or red to even up. So if I lose $500 at Poker, I'll go and drop $500 on red. If that misses, I'll keep doubling till it hits. Once I am even again, I bounce back to Poker.
7. What is your preferred method of looking after your tats in the week following getting your tats done?
I actually don't do a whole lot to take care of them. If I think about it, I'll put some lotion on there once in a while, but they are much more resilient than you might think.
8. Does it drive you crazy when people ask you the same questions over and over again?
Yeah, but at the same time, I have to remember that not everyone knows what has been asked before, so I look the other way. As a rule, I avoid gear, "what ifs", favorites, who would you... etc.
9. Ever get tired of those ENZYTE commercials with "Bob"?
I fuckin HATE that guy!
10. What do you think about Flea playing the same bass line as Mountain Song on the Chili's song, Readymade?
Well, I hear what you are saying but to tell you the truth, I think it's completely different. It's about as similar to Mountain Song as Mountain Song is to Fleetwood Mac's Oh Well. Same notes, but totally different vibe. I take more issue with Judas Priest's Revolution. Not that I think they intentionally ripped the idea, I am just amazed that nobody throughout the recording & mixing, playing the album for the label, and everything else that happens before records come out... Nobody said, "Hey guys, this one seems really familiar!"

So have you seen the buzz at Panic asylum. Your "End Of Broadcast" post here has all questioning if TPC has been dropped from Capitol, if you are breaking up, if you are flaking on tour dates with RSSN...etc. How does it feel to have that kind of power, lol?

Hi Dave
welcome home. i don't know how you deal with all the negative comments people make about you on your own sites, can't figure it out. if i don't like someone, i don't waste my time sending them crap messages or even reading what they are doing.
thank you for making this world, and my little world, a lot happier.
I heard about this new addiction recovery center near me opening up just for women (to live in while they transition to their own place) and i plan to somehow volunteer and fundraise for them.
thank you Dave. love you.

We missed you! And it's good to hear that you guys had a great time.
I posted this last week, but you didn't do one, so I'll give it another shot:
Question for the Sunday 10, if you think it's exciting or important enough: Does The Panic Channel ever do meet and greets or anything like that? I just want a hug or something. This girl doesn't ask for much.

Dave -M.I.A.- Navarro,
Seems like lately you've been busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest :)
Welcome back !!
First of all, thank you so much for the free Loophole download. That is so kick ass of TPC !! You guys rock!!
*Question for the Sunday 10:
What are your views about TPC fans "acquiring" live footage from TPC concerts?
Does TPC have any say in that matter that would permit concert goers to bring in their own personal audio/video equipment to record some live footage from concerts?
I think there are way too many rules at concert venues regarding the no-use policy of cameras and audio recording of shows. I've always loved "sneaking" some live footage back from concerts (to share online, for free).
But that's also stressful because if caught recording at a concert I've heard security can get all nasty about it.
Personally, I don't see why photos taken with a decent camera with a few different lenses, and audio recording devices should only be permitted to those with a press pass. (my cell phone doesn't cut it for picture & sound quality).

Thanks for answering my question. I am a lurker usually, but found the whole thing ridiculous and funny at the same time, so just thought I'd ask.
Also, how particular are you about image rights? I work in glass & was thinking of doing a piece pertaining to you or TPC.

Hey D-Nav,
This might sound pretty left field but my girlfriend waxed my chest the other night, and I was just wondering if you wax your chest at home or get it done by a preferred waxer? And how often do you find you have to wax? Do you enjoy it personally or is it for show?
:Side note, I noticed in pictures from DTTAH you had a bit of chest hair growing at some stage, so I do know you grow hair on your chest.

So they switched you to present for country, but that doesn't matter. It was still a treat to see you present.
Those categories are all screwed up anyways, and the way they pair people up makes no sense at all in any category.

The drumming circle sounded cool. Percussion is important. Every group needs a drummer. Something I learned from playing guitar and NOT finding a group to play in is this: there are SOOOOO many guitar players EVERYWHERE. In Calgary, you can buy a guitar or a bass at the fricken Walmart or the drugstore! And frankly, a band doesn't need 4 guitar players. You have to be as good as Dave Navarro or Charlie Sexton to compete and get the part cuz usually there's just one guitarist in a group. Sometimes it's good to learn more than one instrument. It's not what the band can do for you, but what YOU can do for the band. Just my 2 cents. Kinda cheesey, I know.
Take care Dave. <3 always

Good morning,
Has anyone checked out the Deconstruction demo that was posted on xiola.org the other day? (We're allowed to go there, right? LOL)
While the comments are still open, let me take this opportunity to say that it is PHENOMENAL!! Funky and rocking as all hell. I've been listening to it all weekend. To me, this DEMO sounds better than 95% of the music that has been released since then.
It truly blows me away how talented and versatile you are.
Over, out, and back to the grind,

I can't stand Wynonna. Never have liked her. Ashley however, is AWESOME!!! Definitely the best sister. (i know that I shouldn't say that, but oh well.) I especially don't like her since she said something that made Carrie Underwood cry. Not cool.

Dave, I've noticed that the SRL indie artist of the month contest only featured bands from the US.
Is SRL biased in only featuring homegrown American bands? Were there any bands that tried out from Europe, Canada, Australia, NZ, South America ?
Also, why was Camp Freddy's Christmas Single only released to the US and UK markets, and why was the decision made to first promote the single in those target countries?
When will it be available in Canada ?

Vixen:
In case dave doesn't get to your question, those vids are from the Trust No One/Rhimorse/Spread era (the links come back here to 6767, check the downloads section for more). Dave's solo stuff. TNO was released in 2001 but the rest is unreleased and was from around mid to late 1990's, approximately, if memory serves. so the Venus in furs and the Hungry vids from TNO are from around 2000/2001.

Hey,
Sometimes I wonder if the net really is as great a promotional tool as many people first thought... Well perhaps it is if one has a self contained site and some notoriety. Though many times on a certain Fox Network owned site, several bands have had unorthodox shit happening on their pages. Such as comments they have posted being deleted, inability to send and answer messages from people on their lists, etc, etc....
For some reason this turd burglary only seems to afflict more outspoked/rad Rock bands. So naturaly I assume it is some kind of madness conducted by "the powers that be" to fuck with R'N'R and keep the status quo of bland wiggerism on the rise?
I am just being paranoid with this?
Posted by: Spencer at December 11, 2006 04:05 PM
Dave,
Don't really have any personal questions for you. I'd just like see some new music from you and your band!
Maybe even see you live, but I won't buy tickets to Supernova. A) large arena-like settings kind of suck and they're expensive B) I'm not jazzed by the supernova album at all.
However, I would like to see TPC headlining in a smallish venue with a couple of indie bands. Now that would be fun. ...so when would this kind of tour occur?

Following Panic Channel fallout, former singer Steve Isaacs records solo record. Sales go on to trump all Jane's Addcition record sales combined! Dave Navarro = Dunzo
In other news, Perry Farrell and Nuno Bettencourt perform stirring renidtion of "More Than Words" at New York's Bowery Ballroom. The proceeds of the fund raiser performance
will offset legal costs incurred during CBGB's ill-fated battle to stay afloat. Farrell was quoted, "People need to do more than just pay lip service to our cultural landmarks. Nuno and I have delivered more than just empty promises..." Kurt Cobain could be heard rolling in grave.

For some reason no links are active at all on this 6767 page on my pc and never have been. Can only connect with links on the myspace site.
Dave - am good with the video questions now! Only one other one and this is a bit ruder - did you ever think of having anything other than your nipples pierced? (you know what I'm asking.)
Since nipple piercing did originate in the punk / alternative / fetish scene - where it's common to have genitals pierced?
Thanks! Have a great week.

Dave, one question for you:
Steve Isaacs recently said in the Panic Asylum that maintaining the 6767 blog sometimes "drives you nuts." How so? Do you find the fans too demanding? Is it getting old? If it doesn't bring you joy, why do you do it?
Posted by: Lynda (walkyrie333) at December 12, 2006 04:28 PM
Here's a question. I don't understand why Perez is so great? Just because he shows his face? Gets stories first? Someone school me because I think his comments he slaps on his site are boring and remedial at best. http://www.defamer.com/ is much more stimulating and entertaining to read...
Am I missing something???

Life's been crazy busy here, but I will be happier next month when I start working from home and won't have this dam commute everyday.

Hi Dave!
i just wanted to say hello and hope you're having a nice evening, warm & comfy in front of your big screen tv or maybe out driving with friends. Love you and all that you do for your fans and keeping this nice place for all of us to gather.
I really like that Camp Freddy video that was on the CF homepage, Surrender. it sounded awesome.
take care of yourself.

Does it drive you crazy when people ask you the same questions over and over again?
Posted by: Someone at December 12, 2006 09:58 PM
Do you ever get frustrated by the repetitive nature of the fans on this site?
Posted by: Someone else at December 12, 2006 10:02 PM
How infuriating is it to hear the same thing again and again?
Posted by: _ at December 12, 2006 10:05 PM
Hey DN<thanx for answering my question:) Whenever I hear that stupid whistle at the beginning of the commerical I want to CRINGE-
con mucho amore, Db

So why not put all the repetitive type questions (and answers) and post them under a Dave Navarro FAQ page and direct people to search through it before asking something new?
Or has that question already been asked :) Ha!

dave, are you going to be back on CFR next Saturday?
also, my band, distant daze, just finished recording our cd. It took 5 months!! I'm so glad to finally have it done. Which brings me to my next question:
when you're recording and listening to the same songs over and over for months, is it hard for you to not pick them apart and just keep tweaking them out? I found it hard to find a point to just say, stop now; it's done. But, we had a deadline, so it's officialy done now.
if you want to check out our band:
www.myspace.com/distantdaze
If you've checked us out before, I've uploaded all new songs. Those were old versions posted before.

DAVE!
Someone told me they saw an article about celebrities that will agree to personal apperances at parties for a fee. It was written that your fee is $20,000. Do you in fact make these apperances? How long do you usually stay? How accessible are you and do you have any specific security or hospitality requests?
Can't afford you, just curious how this works!

Hey Dave. :-) I can’t think of anything monumental to say, at the moment. LOL So, I’ll just wish you and yours, plus all the peeps, tons of fun gearing up for the holidays. Thanks for the Sunday Ten. :-) Hope your gigs are rockin’ and everything’s currently cool in your part of the universe. :-) We’ve been getting some more wicked storms on the Isle—winds over 70 mph and tons of rain. Apart from that, December is just a busy month. So, I’m just coming up for air long enough to ‘hoot’ hello, wave my wing tip, leave a few ‘owl tracks’ and fly off, again. Peace and all good things to you and the peeps as we head into the ‘ho ho merry jingle berry season.’ :-)

Oh, yeah... One thing: thanks again for letting us download "Loophole." Awesome tune. It's been burning up my playlist for days. Love it. :-) Peace, bro. :-)
