Various Updates

Tomorrow night at The Dragonfly in Hollywood, The Panic Channel is doing a 5 song acoustic set in support of Head To Hollywood, a non-profit program that provides comfort and escape to survivors of cancerous and non-cancerous brain tumors. The event will also feature The Suicide Girls and Sarah Silverman. If you are in the LA area, come check it out. Tickets are still available and it is for a great cause that is close to my heart on many levels. In fact, Carmen is a co-founder of the program along with Ken Baker.

In other news, my cover band, Camp Freddy, has just released a version of Cheap Trick's Surrender on iTunes. The track features Billy Morrison, Scott Weiland, Matt Sorum, Chris Chaney and yours truly. My understanding is that this is a limited release that will be available for two weeks. Why? I have no idea. The track is part of a soundtrack for the film, Employee of the Month.

Dave,

We can't keep up with you.

Will TPC release an all acoustic recording in the future?

Posted by: Bri@n at September 5, 2006 10:44 AM

Hey Dave

I've been getting caught up on your posts and just wanted to say that it's interesting how many different points of view there can be for one subject. I just read how you met a lady who had been in a concentration camp during the world war. I have been working with Canada's war veterans for 15 yrs and I'm still amazed at what they tell us about wartime. One of my patients is a survivor of that last bomb that fell in WWII. Also, it's very heartwarming to hear about Head to Hollywood. If everybody helped out in such ways, we could do so much!

Just bought Camp Freddy's "Surrender" from iTunes. Well done. I look forward to a full length Camp Freddy CD to sink my teeth into sometime soon.

Dave I am 45 years old and i haven't been to a concert in over 25 years cause no one since then has interested me. one reason is cause they don't care about their fans we know they exsist but they don't know that we do nor do they care, But I relize that you can't meet all your fans. I just recently became aware of you from my 18 year old daughter she told me you were different, she says oh no mom dave is different but from searching you do seem to care about your fans and you do have a heart of gold but i still believe that you like everyone else pays someone to write all this, and your people just brief you on it. Anyways I did buy the 700.00 vip tickets to supernova concert lukas is the only one that i have wanted to go see in over 25 years if he doesn't win I won't go. So I might get to meet someone famous before I die, to bad I had to pay dearly for it. I have not listened to any of your music yet because I like finding out about the person first cause if i don't like them as a human being then I don't want to hear their music but I am likeing what your about so I do plan on checking out your music. Maybe I am just getting to old for all this maybe it is that and I came from the some of the greatest rock n roll out there in the 70's and 80's and thats hard to beat. But I do like lukas and he does make me feel like I want to rock again. Peace out Dave or whoever you have read this.

Just bought it !!! Loved when u rocked in front of the four queens !!! Lots of love to you Dave for all you do ! You keep making yourself more outstanding each time you blog. What's next? Can't wait to see. Also I think Dilana killed her career with the latest mess up. Tired of hearing her crap now. The "poor me" worked for one week. Enough now !! Looking forward to spending the evening with you!! Love from a Peach <:

Deborah from above at 11:09 am......you don't know much about Dave if you think he lets people read and brief him on his blogs.....listen to Spread Radio Live, go back through all of the blogs, read myspace.com for Dave.....he is probably the only one I have seen, and I am 40, who is involved in his fans, and communicates almost on a daily basis with us.....I have never felt more connected with someone I did not know..but would LOVE to know....just because of the way he relates with everyone....listen to your daughter and do a little more research before you post something like this. You will be plesantly surprised by what you find out. I have seen and followed a lot of Hot bands through the years, but Dave Navarro has got to be the best....ok off my soapbox now.

Dave,

CT is my all time fav band, they got me through my teen years, if ya know what I mean! I love the "Surrender" cover CF performs.

I was hoping that you guys will travel down south and visit the Big Easy. My hometown is awesome, we have always had a vested interest in music and of course, we throw an awesome party! Even tho things are SLOWLY rebuilding, we could use some serious jam! Try to throw some tour dates our way if possible.

Love & Peace...RoxieJean

How cool, Dave!

So will the track be on the sound track? I don't know how to do ITunes - so I want to buy the soundtrack if that where it be!

Posted by: Savvy at September 5, 2006 12:44 PM

Right ON Bratty!(From 11:59 a.m. above)Preach is sister!!!

Deborah, if you like finding out about the person before you listen to the music, you surely did your homework, and read for possibly hours on this site, all of the interaction that Dave has with us, his 6767 family.

And you surely noticed that he is plainly as obsessed with this blog/website as most of us are, or he wouldn't care to take the time to write to us nearly EVERY DAY. And you'd know that no one could quite articulate words like Dave does nor would he be so arrogant to want to fool us by paying someone else to write to the people that butter his bread.

I would think all of that being said, plus the Head to Hollywood charity, asking us to write to the troops, and how caring and sincere he was meeting some "regular joe" on an airplane and making the time to talk to her instead of being a stuck up celebrity and then come here and pour his heart out to US about how it moved him, would be quite enough to make you like him as a human being.

I hope that you will do your homework before you make such an arrogant post again.
It would be much more constructive and make for more enjoyable reading to just tell the man that you have done your due dilligence and checked him out and have respect for him, instead of writing in to warn him first.

With that being said- welcome! You now have a place to worship our God, who is: Dave Navarro.

Hi Dave,

I've sent 2 letters to the troops (i just want to make sure you don't think they are duplicates from me).

The 2nd email just has some classic jokes to help brighten their day during their recovery !

But, I can't seem to find any good Rock n'Roll jokes though. Does anybody know any? :)

The only decent, musically oriented joke I could found was:

Did you hear about the guitar player who locked his keys in the car?
He had to break a window to get the drummer out !

Since others have mentioned the Captain Asshat and his band of weenies (you are included this week since putting on your cadet asshat)- I really had intended on talking about Camp Freddy especially since Scott W was mentioned, but after reading the above posts I changed my mind. SN should definitely consider changing their name to Pepe Le Peu and the Black Holes, but since they all suck (musically and perhaps some actually) the Black Hole is probably a better name (collapsed stars that suck so much no light can even penetrate them), plus I'm positive Captain Asshat would never let some other take top billing. Well you guys have actually reached a new low! You have managed to get less people watching your executively pruduced creative "reality" show than (drum roll please)the Number One show for the same timeslot "Celebrity Duets" featuring Marie Osmond, Little Richard, and David Foster as the judges and (get this) Cheech Marin,Lucy Lawless, Queer Eye Jai Rodriguez?, and assorted c-d list celebrities produced by none other than Simon Cowell (told you you got in bed with the wrong devil). In addition, you have continued your assault on the one person capable of holding her own and making this mosh pit sound and look like a pseudo-real rock band. Gilbey, who had all kinds of infinite wisdom about songwriting, if I recall correctly, was a replacement G&R member that was tossed because the others thought his writing skills sucked. Jason was asked to leave metallica because he enraged then active alcoholic lead singer James Hatfield (it's always a good idea to have your lead singer be a drunk or a drug addict- ahem check the tapes and people's comments who have met the competitors)because he wanted to do other music as well as metallica (cough, cough Voivoid - his real reason for being on this show to start with). Last but certainly not least, Captain Asshat Lee - the batterer who has been arrested several times and convicted at least once that I know of - hint, generally men who beat women are inadequate in so many ways and are very, very intimidated by those women that do not find them appealing or desirable. I wonder how many of these kids in the audience were even born when Crue had it's heyday - if my math is correct - big hair went out in the 80's along with the Crue?? It was apparent that the day that Dilana did not reciprocate his affection when he stated "Dilanna - I wanna" (such succint genious in his phrasing) she reached the end of the road, but because the people love her so MBP and his band of merry fakers figured out how to make the presbusecent audience that is rabidly following the show and boards think she is a bad woman. They are online all day and night with limited disposablt income. And now Dave you too have dawned your cadet asshat to join the party - I like to believe there's a monetary incentive in it for you or at least some other reward. Seeing a few minutes comprised synopsis of who said what (maybe you should listen to Storm's interview with Lisa Wood and Rich Emerson for a fair comparison on the treatment Dilanna has received for speaking out) should not be the sole basis of your statements. Her fans get her message - but that's right you don't have time to care or really want to know - Executive Producer or not. Let the cards fall now where they may, but shame on you Dave for caving!

Dave, I am absolutely positive this is going to be one hell of a show I wish I could make it. Good luck preforming tonight! Cant wait to hear how it went!
QUESTION FOR YOU MY MAN!
I read your book but for some odd reason thought about this at work last night. You know how you went to play for Gabe at school? Did you ever get the video? (I have the same video/pic problem with my parents!) I would love to see you playing for your brother hehe. Any who all my love to you and the family here have a kick ass show tonight!

Dave-

Still love Dilana-think the last comment was overblown and taken way out of context! Would you not be pissed if you were left in the dark assuming that everyone has desserted you-do the rockers know about the voting problems? Has she received the feedback about the horrble comments some people made as a personal attack on her? She is an excellent performer and mesmerizes her audiences with her talent!
Please stop bashing this woman and give her the credit she deserves as an awesome performer.

Hey Dave. :-) I see peeps already have your back, dude. LOL That’s good. :-) Yes, Dave really is “live and not “Memorex. LOL ;-) Despite the fact that he’s enormously busy with all his TV and radio shows, band (“The Panic Channel), projects, charities and life in general, he really does take the time to interact with his fans and post his own blogs. That’s all just part and parcel of why we dig the guy so much. :-) Congrats, Dave, on the “Camp Freddy release. :-) Hope you have a great show at “The Dragonfly tomorrow night. :-) I’ve had the opportunity to meet some genuinely sweet and talented folks in various parts of the entertainment industry. I always appreciate how much time, effort and love they devote to the causes and charities which move them. Helping out with different projects has led to some great personal experiences. At different times, I have also volunteered for a local organization that actually pairs people who want to be volunteers up with all the different organizations and charities in the community that need volunteers. It’s always uplifting helping people dedicated to helping *other* people. :-) Today is Tuesday—performance show broadcast night—which means I’ll be up voting for Lukas until late and any Night Owl activities or little “owl tracks on the boards/blogs after that will be in the wee hours. LOL Hope you have a lovely day, man. :-)

Dave, I love that you promote these great causes. Music and heart, world needs both hey?

Did you see TVGuide.com's funny interview of Ryan Dark Horse Star? He hates on Supernova, House Band, Magni, Storm.. Lead Singer Disease, yeah man (like Gilby says).

TVGuide.com: So no constructive criticism?
Ryan: No. If anything I gave them constructive criticism.

TVGuide.com: You've got some fans who are fairly stunned.
Ryan: Yeah, [Supernova's] got some explaining to do for a lot of people. The message boards are blowing up and I know my website [RyanStar.tv] is just going crazy.

TVGuide.com: Do you think Supernova has a chance for long-term success?
Ryan: I made it clear last night when I told them my thoughts. I apologized to them for not being better because I felt like I was their ticket to having that kind of career.

TVGuide.com: I saw some online clips of you working with the House Band and you were very into the craft of the music and the details.
Ryan: Oh, yeah. I respect a guy like Magni, who goes in and just wants to rock with the house band. But I've been doing this forever, and I get in there and whether they like me or not, I'm like, "Hey, Nate, don't hit the snare the third time, hit it the second time." They call me "Micro" because I manage them a little bit, but what do you think Eric Clapton would do if he went up there with those guys? Do you think he'd just be like, "Hey, on two?" No. There is something about being a leader and a frontman and those are the responsibilities you have. Hopefully, Supernova finds someone like that.

Dave, RS SN - I've gone right off Dilana. I want Toby to win. Couldn't trust Dilana to open her mouth without landing her stilletoes in it. Black patent or platform but nontheless she's kind of up herself at the minute and it isn't nice / fun or going to get herself very far. Sorry for being late on topic here but Deborah of 11.09am - you're really quite rude. If this isn't Dave speaking to us then he needs to worry as someone out there has his intonation, words and essence down to a pretty good copy. Maybe it's all another ridiculous conspiracy again. Maybe real dave'd be equally entertained by doppledave, but point is, we love, appreciate and enjoy the exchange here - it's amazing - and not to take it at face value for real for me is amongst other things bad manners.

Ever have one of those days where you put your underwear on inside out and realize you did that at 5:00 that afternoon? Hey, I told my daughter about your blog and radio show. She dug it. And I think that's great that your mom is your manager. My daughter and I are pretty tight too. As for Deborah of this morning. Wow, I couldn't imagine paying $700 for a concert and just not going because Lukas isn't the singer. Shit, I haven't been to a concert in a while either, but that's because I can't afford the damn phone bill, let alone a concert...single mom with no support. Anyway, maybe Deborah was trying to tell you that she might like you, is giving you a chance cause you are different and didn't mean to come across the way she did....kummmmmbyaaaaa. However, let me say in my opinion, you can really get to know a musician, get inside their head - -from their music. It doesn't matter how old you are. Rock out first, relax, let it go, do a few twirls, wiggles or head bangs...AND then figure the rest out. It's free to be FREE. My advice.

Posted by: Stacey at September 5, 2006 03:28 PM

P.S. Oh yeah...And let's thank the men & women who are in the Armed Forces - - past, present and future - -dead and alive, for that freedom.

Posted by: Stacey at September 5, 2006 03:31 PM

Well, since it is being discussed, and since we can't comment on the post that actually relates to this, I'll just add my two cents in here as well. I'm totally in agreement with Bella (minus the personal stuff). First, I would like to say that I watched last year and went to several tapings. My favorite was Marty and was totally shocked that INXS chose JD and his half ass of talent. But I guess it all makes sense since INXS just wanted a young guy to get the girls and that's why they did things like edit out JD blatantly lying to the band and getting caught in the lie so that it would not affect his popularity when he was chosen. He was clearly not the most talented (his voice has been way edited on their CD), but I guess he best “fit with their idea of how they still see themselves—hot rockers, getting laid, getting chicks, and getting a couple of hit songs in the early nineties. Whatever. What came as no surprise in retrospect was when I was at the last taping I was able to talk with people who were close to INXS and they said it was basically JD who had been picked all along. After the bs that went on with that show, I was really skeptical about watching this season.

But, as it turns out, I found SN to be a very likable group of guys who seemed to have no agenda (unlike INXS and their egomaniac ways), seemed to be removed from the political aspects, and looked like they truly wanted to find the person that would fit with them, performed well, and that the fans loved. I (and it seemed the band) really felt like that has all along been Dilana... until recently when you guys have decided to throw her under the bus.

I get that "reality TV" isn't real. I get that stuff is edited to make the show more interesting and you can't possibly put everything into context, but what I was hoping would redeem all of the TV crap would be that the band would try to stay out of all of the "rigging" part of it. First let's talk about the completely biased dealing of Dilana and how she has supposedly been dissing her peers. This is such crap... Lukas and Ryan are arrogant assholes each week on national TV and freely dissed on their peers... just cuz it wasn't in the set-up of a clinic no one has called him on it. So, I did appreciate that SN did say let's bury the "hatchet" (pun intended), but obviously that is not what they really want to do since they (along with you) have decided to throw her under the bus this week. For the only reason, I am gathering, so that they can have a reason not to pick her in the end. I have no issues with the other singers... I really do think they are all great and for the most part SN would do well with any of them. So, really, whoever they pick they probably can't go wrong, but what is really bothering me is that the show part is becoming too transparent. I know when I am being played and I know when I am being set up to have someone forced on me and to make it so I will totally discount Dilana. C'mon, we aren't as stupid as you think. Please give the fans more credit and don't take down Dilana unnecessarily. Let things play out how they will... how you guys did for the first 8-9 weeks. If the band wants to choose Lukas and not Dilana, set it up as just that—their choice, and not as "Dilana was good, but she’s just a ‘crazy’ who fell apart in the end because she couldn’t handle the pressure". In your attempt to manipulate fans you are also taking someone down who could ultimately be a big draw playing with the House Band or being associated with the show in some other way.

In summary, it looks like it's going to be just like last year, instead of figuring out how to build on the remaining three's fan base INXS and Rockstar quickly shed MiG (arguably the consistent top vote getter) and didn't really do much to help Marty either (who, I paid money to see at the Viper Room instead of seeing him those INXS ass clowns). It doesn’t have to be American Idol where the non-winners all sing on a half-sold-out tour, but I’m sure you can be a little more creative than just trashing her so you can toss her aside later. It’s only hurting the show, probably SN record sales, and ultimately the fans who support the idea of wanting to just watch good rock n’ roll being made each week. Please don’t disappoint us in the next week.

Stacey,well said!!!!!

I totally agree with Stacy or uh Baxter or whoever it was trashing SN's handling of Dilana. I liked the guys earlier in the season, but this whole deal feels a little sour and contrived. I am not sure whether I should blame the producers, the band, or the that blonde violinist who distracted you a few weeks ago. I'm sure it's someone's fault. BTW, nice casket pic.

Dave,
What a GREAT organization! and as a Brain Tumor survivor, I thank You very much!
I may be old, I may be ugly and I may be fat, but upon closer look you will find I am a bit like Nanny McPhee. As the better you get to know me, the more beautiful I become. You see I am a 3 time cancer survivor (age 10, brain tumor[Menegeoma], age 21 Uterine Cancer [discovered when I was 6 months pregnant], age 35 skin cancer), as well as a 30% Service Connected Disabled Veteran (US Army 6 years). I am adopting my Husbands Boys that have been living with my Husband and I for 9 years, after my Husbands X stabbed him the in the stomach, in front of the boys. One needs a heart transplant (his heart is functioning at 30%, One is Bipolar, and one has post traumatic stress and Oppositional defiant disorder.
I have tried to teach my kids, that nothing is so bad, that you can not over come it. Laughter goes a long way to making yourself, and those around you feel better.
I refuse to go to bed angry, and I refuse to wake up angry. I try and make the most out of every day (including taking time to stop and smell the roses). I just turned 45, and have done so much...I lived in Europe, I sang in an all girl heavy metal band (80's), I play Cello and Bass, I love my kids, I have a great Husband...and you know, I don't think I would have done so much if I had not had cancer. My personal philosophy about life reflects the Tim McGraw song “Live like you’re dying to quote the song;
“Like tomorrow was a gift,
And you got eternity,
To think about what you’d do with it.
An' what did you do with it?
An' what can I do with it?
An' what would I do with it? “
P.S. One of my few remaining goals in life, is to sky dive!

Hey Baxter you are an idiot and you don't have a clue as to what you are talking about.Marty Casey himself says he just discovered that he had an ok voice and that is why he was all mad crazy conducter.I love Marty but the dude isn't really a stong vocalist.

First, I would like to comment on the mother who is hesitant to believe Dave writes these blogs and reads them...at least she is checking out who her daughter is listening to these days you rarely see that in a parent. Secondly, maybe it came off wrong as we all know can happen, or maybe it is an attempt to get a personal email from Dave as proof it is him.
Dave, I have been reading and listening for two weeks now, and I must say I am really impressed. While the whole RSSN thing has become disappointing with Ryan gone, I still love to see rock n roll on tv, and the HOUSE BAND ROCKS!!!
I am a former soldier, was hurt in training and thus am here with my loved ones, watching SN and reading all the details of conspiracy theories and drama while my friends are half a world a way forgotten about and unsupportred. Dave, the email a soldier was a great thing and one that I didn't expect from a rockstar. Also, discussing the lady on the plane and your charity events are quickly changing my mind about how rockstars and celebrities are egomaniacs and cannot relate to their fans! It's nice to be proven wrong. Peace and love-SW
P.S. Looking forward to the original songs tonight, to hear for myself what you discussed!

Thanks Robin. I listen to his music. Haven't gotten around to a full on research project on Dave (sorry). I work two jobs and support a teenager, so my time is a little limited and what time I do have, I spend with her. Someone else told me that more discreetly and I said that in a loving way. Let me EDIT that comment to "It's great to know that you can call your manager 'mom'".... and I'll leave it at that. I meant it lovingly - honestly. I appreciate you guiding me to the links though definately. Lots more to read and looking forward to it, a little at a time. Peace - and I mean that.

That goes to u tophat u, whatever. Plus, u think Dave's fans only have limited disposable income? U are a fucking naive asshole. And if it were really true that, the value of one's dollar, last time I checked, didn't vary from one to the next. Fuck off, really.

Dave - are you FUCKING kidding!!! Awesome "Suffragette City" with Storm. Amazing

you people and your sickophrantic comments.
this bloke is just a man, with a musical talent.

do you all go so apeshit over a neurosurgeons' encounter with salad?

or a paramedic meeting a recently released, wrongly convicted, texan prisoner while travelling on a train?

why not?

music is a wonderful diversion - but if youve got shit backed up in your s-bend, you would be kissing your plumbers bum-crack in the hope he'd visit before next week.
get some perspective people.

OMG - I've been diggin SRL for the first time this week. I got to see the man perform on Rockstar Supernova and I find out that you're performing on the wrong coast. Hope everyone who makes it has a great time. 37 minutes in be back later

WOW!

Who was it? Dilana with the best performance of both seasons last week -
poor sweet Suzie McNeil and her Bohemian Rhapsody.

And now Storm with the best original of both seasons?
Poor Marty KC and his Trees, it was supposed to be on the charts right then.

Baxter, no need to rag on INXS, so last season, right Dave?

Posted by: JPL at September 5, 2006 06:58 PM

I agree with you Carly
Last years sweet Suzie McNeil and her Bohemian Rhapsody blew me away!!!!!BEST song of two seasons...That was Migs downfall trying to do that after her in the finals!!!
Martys "Trees" was also the best original...
This year I dont think the talent was the same...but Storms original and Tobys original were great..Dilemna makes me sick. I cant see what others see in her.

Posted by: rob at September 5, 2006 07:07 PM

Dave your so fucking hot on stage dam! that's all I have got to say on that for now, do not want to spoil anyone's viewing pleasure anymore than I might already have.

Hopefully it simple wet's peoples appitites,

have a wonderful night sexy

It does sound like a good cause, but unfortunately I'm over a thousand miles away. My mother passed away in '96 of a brain tumor.

I just saw the show. Great job onstage! You're very talented, and all of you looked great.

I think I liked Toby and Lukas best tonight, although Lukas could've held the mic back a bit--some of the words difficult to understand...oh well...

Have a good one! Toodles.

Posted by: Ninsee_60 at September 5, 2006 07:14 PM

Dave,

Nice to finally see you rock out on stage !
I think I just found the one to front Supernova...Toby Rand is a showman, he can sing, he can write music, he's fun, what more do I need to say...

A kickass finale would be Lukas vs. Toby...

Thanks for letting us vent to ya. Keep your head up, RS : SN is almost over and then we won't bug ya with this stuff anymore.

Posted by: Jen at September 5, 2006 07:15 PM

Dave,

As much as I enjoy the rockstar contestants & Supernova, It is you I cannot wait to see live. I tape both shows to watch with my husband who works nights. He tries to make me promise I wont watch the performances/eliminations before we can watch them together. Uh, sorry that aint happening. I will just have to watch that performance again. Damn the luck.

Posted by: merc957 at September 5, 2006 07:15 PM

I think it's pretty clear who the crowd wants to front the band! TOBY RAND!!!!!!!!!!! I would pay to see him! He knows how to rock the crowd and he's great eye candy! If SN wants to have a long career, they need someone happening up front! I think Toby's the one! And what the hell did Lukas do to that BJ song? It sucked BIG time! Orignal song did not impress here either. Sorry to those who like him...I liked him up until two weeks ago....Everyone in my house just sat there looking at each other like what the " "?!?! I actually felt a bit embarrassed that it was so bad...I turned the sound down. Again, sorry to those who like him...to each their own opinion...

And Dave...great to see you up on stage with Storm! Awesome!!! I like her more and more each week and tonight she nailed it! Then Toby came on...and all I can think of is the catchy chorus of his original song!

Posted by: Tamara at September 5, 2006 07:18 PM

(unlike INXS and their egomaniac ways),

Hey, hey, hey there! *runs over to Baxter, draws out a handy dandy Snoodle Doodle Noodle, SMACK!* The best thing about the noodles is they come out of the package wet, but not soggy wet, just enough to give 'em a good snap.

Seriously though, Baxter, you have a right to your opinion, but I just disagree with it...that's all...

also, what a sneaky man you are...i loved it!!! i am soo glad that i started taping it again (i haven't taped anything but the boot off show when SN plays for weeks now) you rocked just like always! soon, i will get to see you up close again. speaking of soon...have you guys decided on a tour schedule yet? i am not asking you to jump right back out there..please take some time and rest...but if you guys have dates/venues lined up i could start planning. Dave,
you said you are not the person to complain to, but your are exproducer. how many times must the camera pan over to Dilana? Does anyone else exist in the show? Its old..real old! We get it...Dilana screwed up..now lets see everyone elses expression during the show besides hers.

Posted by: 2bcrazy at September 5, 2006 07:31 PM

Dave Navarro !!!

Nice to see you get up there and rock the house baby.Suffragette City with Stormy was killer!I like how you guys kept showing Dilana looking desperate when Storm and Lukas were performing.Nice...Putting Lukas second was also such a perfect move as well so now you can drop him into he bottom 3 with no worries.

If all the Dilanadrama wasn't enough to boot her her overall fairly crappy effort should do it.I do give her huge props for courage though good on her.Although I still don't get why she would want to sabotage her career like that.EVS.

You moved Stormy ahead of Magni. That's a toss up.Toby is in like flin I liked his original for the last 30 seconds where he tore it up until that point I was kind of lost.

Stormy's original I liked also but I wasn't blown away by it.Maybe because the key word in the song was censored.I dunno.Great stage presence though.

Magni I think after several listens I would like this song. Not immidiately catchy but few songs are on first listen.(That It's On SuperNova song I'm starting to really dig)

Lukas well I have listened to 15-20 of Lukas' originals and I don't really care for this song.Or at least I didn't!He seriously kicked the shit out of that puppy.I guess that's why he keeps taking all the crappy songs on the show it just doesn't make any difference like you say even at his worst he's still pretty damn good.

SN = it's television. get over it. I'm for lukas, toby, magni, storm, dilana in that order. lukas has the drama, toby has the fun. i LOVE the show - rock n' roll on TV!!!! not since 1964 dudes....
CHICKS in ROCK N ROLL = quite singing about your soul & your truth - it's about sex, drugs, & sex & rock n' roll....and being entertained. i don't give a shit about your problems....i wanna forget about mine. oh oh ohohoh.....TOBY ROCKED!
TPC = it gets better each time i hear it.
CFR = heading over to itunes to try to grab surrender.

Dave,
I am very disappointed in you; you really need to think before you speak on performance night. My problem is that I loved Storm's "What the 'What' is Lady like" but it is not "THE BEST ORIGINAL OF BOTH SEASONS" does 'PRETTY VEGAS' RING A BELL DAVE!!!!!! I mean you have said it your self this blogg that you sometimes you rush to judgment but please don't patronize the fans. also, as an executive producer you may want to know that if you do a pre taped show at least give off the appearance that it's live and drop in the votes. I know I seem a little tough on you, I am a big fan of yours, I just hate when you make sweeping judgments like that.
Much love

Posted by: Elyse at September 5, 2006 07:43 PM

To Niki,

My sister and I debate all the time whether Dave writes/reads all this or pays someone. She's convinced he pays someone, me I'm of the mind set, the amount of trust you would have to put into someone to speak "for" you "as" you is just too much. The risk of backlash if ever they said something completely inappropriate would be too high.

Dave you were sooooo awesome, but I have to say as much as we adore you, Storm still shined which is great. I was a dilana fan and her behaviour recently and storms performance just derailed dilana in my eyes. My 11 year old has loved storm from the start... and clearly she has a better judge of character and talent than me :)

Congrats you rocked and Canada LOVES you!

Amazing show tonight!! I loved the jam with Storm! Until tonight I thought it would come down to Dilana and Lukas, but now I'm leaning more toward Toby and Storm....really great tonight!!

By the way Dave, I've been listening to SRL and your comments about the negativity going round - it must be exhausting for you to have to deal with all of that crap. And I hear you say "fuck it" an aweful lot - I hope you are really able to let it roll off your back like that. No sense in digesting someone elses stupidity - even if they are trying to spoon feed you with it. You just keep rising above it!!

Posted by: Jannie at September 5, 2006 07:47 PM

Dave, just wanted to say that I think it's great to see you so involved in so many causes. My god you're busy! Between Supernova, TPC, SRL, Camp Freddy, AND all your charity work, it's no wonder you're so confused about what to do when you finally get a day off! :p Well, thanks for all your entertainment and your caring. :)

Baxter at 03:38 PM, as an INXS fan, I would like to say that your interpretation seems to be based on fairly limited observations. First of all, it is completely unfair of you to say that they didn't do much for Marty. Not only did they give him a LOT of publicity and speak very highly of him throughout the show, they also asked that he and the rest of his band open for them on the first leg of their tour. Because of this, The Lovehammers got even more publicity and were able to go straight on tour after the show. They have released their cd and done signings and meet and greats since opening for them and are now embarking on their own career. Marty himself has said that he's very grateful for everything the guys have done for him and that he would not be where he is today, with his band, if it weren't for them. As I believe that Marty is a very honest guy, I think it only fair to respect that opinion of his, because I don't think he would say it if he did not really mean it.

Also, JD is in fact a great talent. All the contestants grew vocally over the show, but JD did fit very well with the band. I have seen them live in concert (performing alongside The Lovehammers, in fact) and JD's voice is very pleasant, as is his showmanship.

The members of INXS take their music very seriously - it's their livelihood and their passion - and wouldn't have chosen anybody that they didn't believe was right for the band. MiG has a fine career going as does Marty. Vocally, all three were talented, but JD was the best fit. They all have different styles that suit the music they are all pursuing. It seems only fair to be happy for all of them in their current situations, especially considering the fact that MiG, Marty, and JD all seem to be perfectly thrilled to be where they are at.

Much Love to Dave and the 6767 family,
~Ali

Hi Dave! I sent along an email for the troops in Germany - thank you for taking action on that, I'm sure the well wishes will mean a lot.

The show tonight was pretty good. Loved Storm, Lukas and Magni. Was meh on Toby and Dilana was just painful. Unfortunately, she is the one who can't seem to let go - doesn't she get how short the American attention span is - we let that go last week! Her original was abysmal.

I thought Magni and Storm had the most radio-friendly originals, and Lukas brought this super-emotional, kick-ass performance. He is a star, regardless of how he does in this show. I love that he rearranges all of his covers - thank god he didn't sing LOAP straight - it might have dulled my love for him. What a lame song - you know Toby would have karoaked it to death.

Wasn't blown away by Toby - he has a great touch with the audience (and TLee seems to love his ass, quite literally) but his Mr. Birghtside was painful to hear. Sung in a high, clear pitch totally inappropriate to the song. Sucked all of the goodness right out of it. The onlu making that song great is that deeper, emotional pitch the Killers bring - Toby brought none of that.

I'm thinking if the bottom 3 is Storm, Magni and Dilana, that Dilana goes home. I felt like the edit was to make it less "controversial" TM Ryan Star. For kicks, check out his lame TVguide interview - you'd think none of the guys in Supernova had ever smelled success until they took a lick off his boots. Check it out here:

http://tvguide.com/News/Insider/default.htm?cmsRedir=true&rmDate=09052006&cmsGuid={F17318D9-12C9-4079-9608-4A5FF3C26587}

Posted by: racquetgirl at September 5, 2006 07:54 PM

Lukas on LOAP, wasn't convinced on TV, thought it was an extremely interesting arrangement though, HOWEVER, went back and watched it again and absolutely loved it! Brilliant! I guess it's really hard to get past the sound of the original sometimes and this was so different I didn't get it on first listen but wow, now once again I will not be able to get Lukas's take on a song out of my head.
Headspin was utterly amazing and that was never one of my fav originals of his. That was an awesome performance, really emotional and powerful and once again he owned that stage. It's pretty amazing what that guy can do with just himself, no props, no gimics, just his amazing self. I love him.
BUT Dave, why were all his incredible comments from Tommy and Jason edited out for TV? It made it sound like he was good, but not good enough and you know as well as I and anyone else who read the spoilers what an awesome set of comments he got from those two in particular. That is just not fair, breaks my heart. I hate MBP.

Posted by: AngelEyes at September 5, 2006 07:56 PM

hey there

cliff notes please on some of those essays :)

Some of you write like Dave isn't allowed to have his own opinion.

After reading some spoilers I noticed they really edited what Tommy said to Lukas after his performance.

Is it playback or whatever on tv that makes him bit hard to understand? If you listen to the stuff on the msn site or youtube he's quite easy to understand. It must sound totally different at one of the tapings.

Dave you rocked tonight. Was fun to see you up there with Storm.

/cheers

Posted by: Serafina at September 5, 2006 07:56 PM

One more thing to add, as much as I like Toby, his voice really grates on me, too high-pitched or something. I was on the Juke Kartel website the other day and tried to listen to their songs but honestly had to stop. The voice is so much in the higher registers that it almost gave me a headache, and I really like Toby and how he is presented on the show.

Posted by: AngelEyes at September 5, 2006 08:01 PM

ummm...I predicted Storm after the first episode...i'm just sayin'

also, it kinda blows my mind that an average blog posting by Dave has been getting between 200-300 responses..but he asks for support for the troops and mentions a benefit TPC is doing for brain cancer survivors, and ,combined, these posts get less than 150

jezzi(priorities, indeed)

Posted by: jezebel at September 5, 2006 08:04 PM

Of course, we are all entitled to our opinions, but I agree with some of the posters Pretty Vegas was the best original I've heard to date. Dave we are alike in that we both get into the moment and it enhances the current feeling, then, later I look at it objectively and hmmm...doesn't matter it's great to feel really alive and in the moment, isn't it?

Posted by: Serenityelf at September 5, 2006 08:05 PM

Wow so many stacey's I felt I should differentiate myself. Since I said Dilana's drama actually turned me off... I don't want the other Stacey to look like a hipocrite.

I liked toby's, but I can't beleive everybody isn't gah gah for Storm's. Because I was seriously like, okay, THERE'S a song I'd actually pay for and not download! Well download it first and pay for it when it comes out.

I will admit though, I said I would have sent Toby home weeks ago, I would have been WRONG! He's really coming out of it... and I've always loved Magni. But I think I'm tired of both Dilana and Lukas drama, And i'm canadian. I'd like to see storm, magni and toby in the final three! :) That'd be crazy... all underdogs but all amazing!

Well I have quickly read a few quick things on some boards and now I'm bored so I'm outta here.
But I gotta say to Dave Goffin you are a brilliant brilliant man.I have watched this show from the get go and to me if you think Suave Porn is picking anyone but Lukas you ain't payin' attention not at all.

I am hearing Toby now is the front runner???.Is that cause MB productions put his name as number one tonight on the list?I dunno if I'm sad because people don't recognize real talent or if I think it's hilarious. In either case good rock and roll show good TV.Dave Goffin is a genious and so is Mark Burnett.

Dave Navarro I hear plays a pretty decent guitar.I'll have to check him out.

WOW! WHAT A SHOW!!!!! AND DAVE, THANX FOR THE REAL TREAT! SUFFRAGETTE!!!YOU ROCK!!!!

Posted by: mary at September 5, 2006 08:12 PM

Dave ain't the director! It wouldbe a really tough gig to throw out comments from the throne :) while whispering 'I need a tight closeup on Dilana camera 3 on 2....'. Granted, he's talented but that's stretching it.

Storm was awesome, you two looked natural on stage together Dave. 'What the Fuck is Ladylike?' is a very cool tune.

I think Magni is gone this week.

The next 3(2?) shows should be interesting.

peace y'all

OH MY GOD! I just posted and then went back and read a couple of posts and I'm sorry but ragging on the members of Supernova just because your favorite may not win is really stupid and immature. If you don't like the players, don't watch the show. It's that simple. And as far as Dave or any of them turning on Dilana goes - just because they don't always give her an A on her report card, that doesn't mean they're turning on her. It comes down to what's best for Supernova. And incase you weren't listening during the show, it sounds like they will be taking some of these guys out on the road with them when they tour (to sing with the house band who will be opening for them). Sounds like an opportunity will continue to exist even after the show wraps. Here's a question - if you can't stand the guys in the band, then why on earth would you want your favorite to win and join them????? It's nice to show support, but do you have to rip other people apart to do it?

Posted by: Jannie at September 5, 2006 08:21 PM

Have a great performance tomorrow night...
Hope Carmen is there to see you go unplugged...

Posted by: Savvy at September 5, 2006 08:28 PM

That was one of the best performances I have ever seen Storm do, including in person (for both songs). She just took it to an entirely new level. And Dave -- you and she need to go on tour. What the fuck?! I mean, you guys looked like you and she had been touring together forever as it was. She owned the song, the stage, the audience AND you (in a completely good way -- not meaning to detract your great performance in anyway!).

And Toby. Where the hell has THAT Toby been all season?! I thought all of the rockers did well tonight, but Storm Large and Toby Rand were on entirely different levels from the rest of the rockers tonight. Professional, fun, awesome. Frankly, I want to see the two of THEM go on tour together. Storm could do the rockin' chick and sexy sultry stuff and Toby could do the arena-rock stuff and tear some shit up.

While I am pulling for Storm exclusively, I have been saying that for weeks now that if for some reason Storm did not win, I would be comforted by knowing that any of the remaining four rockers who got the gig would certainly deserve it. However, after tonight I can only see Storm fronting Supernova. And if not Storm, then Toby. If either of them make it, I will consider Supernova a legitimate effort and a "real band".

Finally, I do think it is probably Magni who will be going home and I think it is his time. I feel bad saying that, but someone has to go . . . He is on par with Storm Large for seeming to have the biggest heart on earth, though and I wish him the absolute best. He has a great voice and a wonderful attitude and is very charming "Uh . . . both songs were . . . sung by me!". Hah!

Dave, I really want to see you do another song with Storm. Would you be able to play with her on another performance of Ladylike before the season is over? Perhaps if she gets it as the encore at tomorrow's taping? I've got to see the two of you do another song together. It just LOOKED SO RIGHT.

One final thing -- Dilana was difficult to watch tonight. Unlike what Gilby had to say, I thought her lyrics were pretty good and though I have been neither a big Dilana hater or lover, I would say that the performance of her original was probably her best performance of the season. The only detraction from it is that watching her hobble around was . . . difficult. I don't want to say "pathetic", because that comes across as mean and I don't mean it that way. It was just . . . well . . . it was uncomfortable to watch from the audience. I hope that if she is the one sent home this week, it isn't because of her more meager stage presence tonight, because she clearly did what she could.

Good luck with the final few tapings, Dave! AND PLEASE PLAY WITH STORM AGAIN BEFORE THE SEASON ENDS!

Posted by: Seumas at September 5, 2006 08:38 PM

There's not a single other rocker on that stage that could have taken that LOAP and made it sound like that. NOT ONE! by a long shot! If anything I am more resigned to Lukas maybe not getting this tonight. He's a f***ng rockstar, I don't care what anybody thinks and he's going to be huge.
Headspin blows everything out of the water. Best ever. No tired antics for this guy, he's a true original.
He IS the dream frontman, he is inspiring and he does f***ng sing like it's the last day on earth. Maybe TV land doesn't get to hear T and J's comments but I know what they were.

Posted by: HelterSkelter at September 5, 2006 08:40 PM

Dave, you wet my whistle tonight...

When are you & TPC coming back to Chicago? Give me fair warning next time... had to miss the Hard Rock show on account of a date with my mom. Can't blow her off - even for you. Sorry, love.

I'm not getting the Toby love, the Toby being frontrunner, the Toby tonguebaths. Toby has one voice and it's too high to want to listen to for long. He's fun in the moment but Lukas has multiple voices that all work together to create art.

Woo-hoo! I'm still ridin' the Toby Love Train ya'll. My fingers are crossed that Beautiful Ass gets the job and SN comes to Tampa! :)

Hey Dave,

WOW! What agreat show. I was so happy to see you up on the stage. You were GREAT! Storm did really well too. I liked her original.

Lukas was awesome as usual. He just takes my breath away. I loved what he did to LOAP. Headspin is my favorite Lukas original and he kicked the shit out of it! He knows how to bring it.

I only wish he'd get a hair cut. I want to see his eyes!

I noticed Lukas is getting the MB edits this week. They edited out both Tommy's and Jason's glowing comments. I can understand editing out Tommy's "I always dreamed of having a lead singer that looks and sounds like you", but why did they edit out Jason's "you play music like we want to play music, like its the end of the world" and how Jason hasn't been able to get Headpin out of his head since he heard it back in March. I think they are trying to make it look like a close race. Just my opinion.

I actually liked Dilana's original more than Magni's and Toby's. Magni's was good too, Toby's was, eh.

GREAT, GREAT show. I hope we get some more original music next week. The Rockers seem to really bring it with their own music.

Hey Dave, I don't know if you have the time or ever bother to read these messages, but I just wanted to send you a shout and say thank you for bringing us Rockstar. It really is refreshing to see something like that on television for a change and see the talent from all of them pursuing their careers. You never get too old to rock, and it is always a joy to support live music that you love (being a child from the 70s). I have so much respect for Supernova and the overall premise of the show. It's been so enjoyable to watch the rockers over the weeks. I'm sure TPC kicks ass live. Take care. Peace, from janine in illinois.

Posted by: janine at September 5, 2006 08:51 PM

I would probably be able to get into the Lukas thing if I could understand one god damn word the kid ever says. How can people say he "rocks" and how can Tommy say Lukas is "the frontman I have been dreaming of working with my entire life" when you CAN NOT UNDERSTAND THE WORDS COMMIN' OUTTA HIS DAMN MOUTH?!

Seriouly. Jason says to open your throat. Man, open your damn mouth and stop singing like you have a face full of marbles. When you do, it almost sounds GOOD. I'd buy a copy of Headspin, but I'm not going to buy something I can only understand every other word of. And it's not because it's "rock and roll". It's one thing if it's hard to understand because of screaming. It's another if you're just too lazy to part your lips.

hey dave: this is completely off topic but i was browsing thru the 6767 archives and was reading your "ramblings". i was really moved by the one titled "looking for god"?...i think it was. you are not only very aware of your emotions but aren't afraid to talk about them. you have a real talent for writing. luv ya always xxx

Well Dave, first thanks for being on the show. Your're the reason I watch. It was great to see you up and playing with Storm. I think the only SN with any talent is Tommy Lee. Dilana sure looks depresed these days. Looks like she's been tossed under the bus. It will be really interesting to see who and the reasoning of the final choice by SN. Let's face it here -- you're the real SN of this show! Love ya! P.S. Really hope you will do another RS show soon.

Yeah, totally. In fact, we have a word on the west coast for people like that. We call them "women".

Dave,
Great job tonight. It's great we got to see you perform. I'm curious as to whose original you were blown away with? Please do tell. Two stood out, bot one was above all. I'd like your take. Thanks!

Posted by: jvelvet at September 5, 2006 09:02 PM

You know I have noticed that when Lukas sings he sometimes has the microphone so close to his lips it probably contributes to what is meant when people say they can't understand him. Personally, I've never understood people saying that. I've never had a problem with more than a word or two and who cares, I can honestly say I've never understood the lyrics to most songs I love at first listen, especially if it's not a studio track. I know his studio voice is amazing, and live, I would expect him to wow me with his performance (which he does) and I would have bought the cd and know all the lyrics by the time I saw the concert. It's a lame excuse for dissin but you should, if you ever get a chance, tell him to back off the mic.

WARNING: off topic comment from post

Dave, on RSSN:
1) HOLY SH*T - I am so glad you played up there. And Storm seemed to be at her best, no doubt you inspired her as well. Liked Lukas & Toby too. I am going to admit it, I personally have rocked out to BJ songs in the privacy of my car but I would never admit that in public --so God bless Lukas for his rockingness.

2) I know you likely don't have much of a window into what it is like in the world for the rest of us...not in a pejorative way, I am just saying as a famous and affluent person--you live at a different level. So my point being, the fact that you are posting the stuff about our troops and really making life a little bit cool for them means more than you can know. I feel like there is so little activism about the war in the popular music community. And I have some friends there so, it is just cool is all.

Be well.

Dave,

Just finished watching the show. You were right! It was amazing! My favorite performer was by far Toby! His cover and his original song blew the house away! Storm did awesome also! I loved her original song! BTW- your rocked with her on the Bowie song! I can't wait to see tomorrow night's show. I have to say I was disappointed in Lucas and Dilana's songs but that is just my opinion.

Take care!

Peace

I love that song: Behind blue eyes.

Dilana, with a bad calf, I don't know....This could be the end for her.

On her original the opening verse was pretty good. I don't know, maybe if it was out of the blue the song would be pretty good. But since she's been going through a some stuff the past week or so...the song sounds kind of defensive.

Gilby's comments hit it right on the nose.

Magni- Back in the USSR. Not one of my favorite Beatle songs. Magni has a biker look, he could front this band. A manly hardcore look to him. But I have to admit this version of the Beatle song sounds like a bar gig.

Original stuff- I don't know, maybe it's his style of music but he doesn't seem to have an electric stage presence. The end of the song, the lyrics sound like a few cliches sewed together. No impressed.

Posted by: Michael Teniente at September 5, 2006 09:25 PM

"You know I have noticed that when Lukas sings he sometimes has the microphone so close to his lips it probably contributes to what is meant when people say they can't understand him"

I don't buy that excuse for a moment. I have never been able to understand 90% of his songs. But then he sings his own original, and he's suddenly clear as a bell. What the hell?! Is mumbling every other song some secret trick of his to get through covers without it being easy to tell if he was great or if he sucked? By the way, I liked Headspin. Storm and Toby kicked his ass tonight, but Lukas was solidly in the middle of the pack and I thought he did alright.

As a MAJOR STORM LARGE DEVOTEE, I have to say that I found the constant panning of the camera on Dilana every time someone else was doing well or was being praised was pathetic. I don't care a whole lot for Dilana, but it seemed fucking cruel to be showing her face every few seconds as if to say "Hey, World! Let's check in on Dilana and watch how she's handling watching her biggest dream slowly fade away before her very eyes!".

I think that it is time for Dilana or Magni to go this week, but why is Dilana still being raked over the coals? Why can't the show let her go out with a little dignity and show her some respect? For that matter, why did they have to show her being carried out in some stagehand's arms? Of all things to edit out (like her banter during the lighting problem that never made it to air), why not edit out that scene? It made her look even more pathetic and she didn't deserve that.

I know Dave (Navarro) doesn't have direct control over the editing of such things, but I'm just expressing that if the Dilana fans are upset and outraged over this treatment she's still getting, I completely support you. I thought her performances tonight were probably the worst of the night (but everyone was still good), but . . . this is just not right to give her the shaft like this. UNLESS the reward is the surprise that she's really already going to be chosen for the gig -- in which case maybe this is a small hazing price to pay.

Storm Large- David Bowie's song...I have to say she's solid.

Original- Tough opening lyrics. You need a jet to get to her...you can't get better than that. Not bad. The only question is if Lukas' stage presence will make you forget that.

Dearest Dave,
Loved watching you tonight - great surprise! Just wanted to give a quick nod to the Bics being replaced by cell phones. I refuse to join in and I don't care how old it makes me look. I love it when the little kiddies ask me what the hell I'm doing and I have to explain it. It's hilarious. Don't forget that you said you'd be able to comment on touring on Wednesday. We surely haven't!

Dave you and Storm rocked it. Storm's & Toby's originals were good! So was it Storm's performance that you were speaking of, when you said SN knew what they were doing?
Toby was interesting, I was expecting him to break out and rock it at some point, but it was definitely different.
What you said about Magni was dead on.
I am going to miss RS, wish we could do it again in January...just too much fun.
I am off to read some more on the website, Dave is growing on me.

I haven't even watched the rest of the show...I had to rewind the DVR and rewatch Storm.

That songs is my fucking anthem. LOVED IT.

Good for her. Totally came out of the woodwork for me. I always heard this "Cher-esque" quality to her voice that turned me off. I saw her for who she truly is tonight and I really liked it.

What the what is ladylike anyway? ;)

Dave,

I remember my first rock concert in '83 (I was 14). I still remember how cool it was when the lights when out and all those lighters lit up.

(that and the smell of marijuana)

Back then, I'd also buy bootlegs of my favorite bands, and shop for singles or imports (I have a few cool Metallica and Iron Maiden 12-inch vinyls that I almost got signed by the bands - a story for another time)

Nowadays, people light up their cell phones and illegally download music. And the smells? Well, the Eagles, the Stones and many other 60+year-olds still tour, so Ben Gay has replaced pot as the official scent of arena rock!

Posted by: Bloumeister at September 5, 2006 09:52 PM

Wow, it's gettin' hot in here. You guys really care about this shit this much?

Two points:
#1 - Dilana threw herself under the bus.
#2 - Storm f*ckin' kicks ass!

I honestly can't STAND lukas' stage presence and I'm canadian, could he PACE anymore? I like his songs nad singing for the most part, but the pacing back anf forth drives me MENTAL!

Posted by: StaceyT at September 5, 2006 09:59 PM

Toby- Man, Toby sounds like a pop singer, which isn't bad but not right for SN. I get the feeling he's more of an Alternative Rock type of singer.

Original- Is that SN style? No matter what he does, running out in the audience...he still doesn't match Lukas' stage personality. Good performance.

Gilby said it best...it was fun!

But can he carry a dark side? He's too much of a fun guy.

Not really but it's not a bad thing to do things you like. I like listening to new singers. Plus I have a T.V., so why not? Did I forget to mention my laptop. Great show. All I have to say is...

Storm kicks ass! Seriously, she (and you) sounded good on the Bowie tune, but she tore the competition up with that original song of hers. It's been a while since I heard a good solid rock song that featured such a funky rhythm. DAMN!!!

And to anyone who questions why you changed your mind -- fuck 'em! You're an executive producer and you can do whatever the fuck you want.

oh.. I feel bad for Dilana... it seems she's fading... and now I don't know if a full recovery is possible.. the problem is everyone else around her is growing more and pulling out these freaking amazing performances.. and her's are good, sure, like always.. but the others are starting to pass her by now :(
How quickly a person can drop in this competition...
But Storm's song.. freaking awesome.. catchy and I loved it..
My favorite was Lukas though.. I loved how he changed the first song up... and I LOVED his original.. so much so I felt emotionally attached to his performance.. it's like my heart was glued to the tv heh.. but it was beautiful.. and made me tear up a bit..
But I've always been a sucker for the slow songs..

yo Dave!!! U rocked it when u played with Storm!! Her song was amazing!! I liked Lukas's, he's one of my favourites, but i kinda expected something a little different? Tobey rocked out as well, you can tell he wants this.

Does anyone remember Dilana or Magni's songs? Original or even the 1st one??

Yep that about says it!!
Peace homie!! :)

Posted by: candice at September 5, 2006 10:25 PM

Dilana's original was really bad. Yikes.

Not a fan of either song that Lukas did. I've liked him-and voted for him but I won't tonight.

Totally dug Toby's original! As far as his music being too pop. What do you think the last few SN songs were? Borderline pop rock for sure. There's nothing wrong with that, but it certainly wouldn't be considered 'heavy' in my book.
Can't wait to hear what is in store for us tomorrow night.
Dave you're drumming up some fans! I really like the idea that you connect with people. I'm a huge Aerosmith fan and for awhile, Tom Hamilton their bass player would answer emails from fans and post an update on the fan site. I was impressed. (And for those who will say that TH also had someone read and respond to email for him, it's not true. I actually referred to something in an email to him in person and he remembered).
He's undergoing treatment for throat cancer at the moment and will join the tour in a few weeks. Can't wait for him to kick my ass with that sweeeeet opening to Sweet Emotion!

I for one, don't have to like someones personality to enjoy their music. But it sure makes it fun and really cool when you can get to know someone (sort of) and catch a glimpse of a really cool personality AND dig their music.

Anyway.............;)

I hope they enjoy listening to your show if they can and I too sent a message yesterday.
Love you, take care and have fun.

Baby, you and Storm had such great chemistry. Loved watching you two together. What the Fuck is Ladylike (the real title) is the most rocking kick-ass song ever. She blew the roof off that studio. Toby's my #1, that boy's momentum keeps building, and he's perfect for Supernova.

I hope next week, Storm's song is the #1 downloaded tune. She's totally amazing, and I think she's got a great career ahead of her.

Dilana keeps trying to milk "the incident," whereas everyone else wants to move on. Bad strategy. Time for Dilana to head back to Texas.

Posted by: LA at September 5, 2006 10:45 PM

the funny thing is.. when I first tuned into this thing and saw Lukas.. I was like.. ohh who's that guy? he looks different... I bet he'll be the one that I end up loving heh..
Because during these type of shows.. there tends to be one person who in particular I bond to their music.. and I feel emotionally attached to.. (ie: season one, Marty Casey for sure) and I thought it would be him just because his look was really different and I tend to go for those type of people.. but I ended up becoming a Dilana fan.. but now.. after Lukas' orginal song.. I really feel emotionally attached.. I recommend watching the youtube video of where Lukas is singing that song before this whole supernova thing..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tJl-6cY5Sg
it is beautiful... even more so I think because you hear more of his higher voice.. wonderful.. Oh yeah.. you better believe I'm putting that on myspace haha..
but yeah.. turns out that my "instinct" in the beginning was right... in the end, I ended up a Lukas fan.. but I still love Dilana... and I'm still a fan... but whats been happening lately is so unfortunate for her..

Posted by: Marlena at September 5, 2006 10:52 PM

Toby was friggin' awesome. For those who can't get enough, there's a Juke Kartel version of that song on their myspace page. It's floating on LimeWire, too.

Storm, with and without Dave, was friggin' awesome. I like the censored version because it had a funky rhythm to it and a mysteriousness that she couldn't have gotten from the original lyrics.

Lukas. He should have listened to a band called Stellar Kart's version of LOAP before going totally stripped. They punked it up and Lukas could have done that, too. The CD version of Headspin is better than what I heard tonight. I have to agree with people who can't understand him. I couldn't handle two hours of that. I love the Rise Electric and Cleavage stuff, but if he has to be perfectly mixed to be understood, that's not reasonable for a band of Supernova's hype.

Magni still needs to front the House Band -- and I'd buy that CD in a heartbeat. He's not right for Supernova.

Dilana. If someone has to be carried on stage, they shouldn't be hopping off a stool and trying to look all heroic. Sit there and sing. She still sucked. Her original was awful.

Dave, nice job on the Storm song. Maybe you can play some Hendrix with Magni on the finale. :)

Posted by: justin at September 5, 2006 10:56 PM

To that Mike guy or whatever - ARE YOU HIGH?! Did we forget Storm's song when Lukas got on stage? I don't even remember the songs he sang except he did a crappy Bon Jovie song and only managed to make it crappier! You can't understand his words. He can have great stage presence, but usually not.. and sometimes his voice is just so grating. He really stood out when there were 15 people to compete with, but now that it's narrowed down to five people, Dilana and Lukas are both being totally overshadowed by Storm Large and Toby Rand. I dont' despise his music or anything, but . . . he's just so boring to watch . . . especially since you can't understand his slurring.

Posted by: UmNo at September 5, 2006 10:56 PM

Hi Dave you sexy thing,

I agree with some of the other posters!! I liked Storms song but I think its a little far fetched to say that it was the best original in both seasons.

I am a huge JD fan from last year and I think that Pretty Vegas and also Marty Casey's Trees are awesome tracks.. I recall you getting into both songs at the time last year too.. how quickly we forget I suppose..

Remember you told JD that if INXS in fact picked him that they should release Pretty Vegas as a single. You also told Marty that you could hear Trees as a single TODAY.. just wanted to put it to you and see if having thought about it you retract your comments, or if you stick by it?? as I say personally I am a fan of Pretty Vegas and Trees as the best original songs off RS.

I also thought that if Marty was in this season's show he would win by far!!! Neither Dilana or Lukas sung Nirvana as good as Marty did last year, and he is a star..

my fav this season is TOBY.. Go Toby!!

Anyway each to their own I respect everyones comments and opinions. If you really like Storms song better then any other original on either season Dave - Thats great :) everyone has different opinions, I just wanted to see if after the heat of the moment you re-thought your comment.

Love yas all!!!

To Bloumeister-
You bring back happy memories, from concerts in the 80's. I laughed when they said kids are holding up cell phones now...weird...and Ben Gay replacing pot as the "official" scent of arena rock, LOL say it aint so.

Posted by: Sharon at September 5, 2006 11:02 PM

Cori- I cannot agree with you more. Lucas is all looks but the voice is pure torture for me. I absolutly hated both his performances tonight. And even the looks are wearing thin.... Being a teenager in the 80's I remember kids who tried way to hard to be punk and it ended up being a joke.....that's what I feel when I see Lucas. It's not original- it's old news. And I'm one of those weird people who actually believes that the lyrics to songs are written to be understood....

Oh yeah....Storm rocked. And Dave, I was really wishing you had not worn a long shirt. Thanks for the great show.

Great going Dave!!! I live in Oz so sadly I won't be able to go.

Loved seeing you onstage tonight Dave, would've been better if you'd been solo though. It seemed you were both stealing each other's thunder and what should've been an awesome lightening storm, wasn't and it carried over into Storm's original.
For the rest, loved Magni's vocals but didn't "feel" him, Toby reminded me of a pub singalong and his voice really wasn't much better than what I'd expect at one, I did still love Dilana's voice but her pity train is just plain boring and more of her chicken hop, pulled calf notwithstanding. Lukas, hmm I really love the boy and think he's the "one" but I didn't like the Bon Jovi song, his vocals seemed to get buried behind the music and unfortunately we didn't get to hear the vocal range that his original has, due to its shortened length, but it definitely had passion and the chorus was much more compelling and memorable IMHO than Toby's. All in all, not the best night, it'll be interesting to see how the votes tally up now that the word has got out that people can vote for MUCH longer than intended.

Dave, Thanks so much for letting us know about the letters to the troops. I know they appreciate anything that anyone sends them and they will love hearing from you and everyone else. I was raised on military bases and even lived in Germany as a kid and I know first hand how much words from home can inspire the troops overseas.
Dave finally we go to see you rock out on RS. Loved it! You looked and sounded HOT and Storm was hot too. It was so hot I think I will re-watch right after I write to the troops!

TOTAL BLAST of a show, and almost as much fun reading all of these diverse comments and passionate opinions. Let me throw in mine;
-ULTRA KOOL to see Mr. Navarro take the stage and dish up the chemistry with a fiery Storm Large! That kicked my ass and it got better with repeat viewing.
-STORM had a tremendous night, and I have to give her mad respect for that ballsy original tune. I still don't see her as the best choice for Tommy and gang, but she is safe tomorrow, and has a sparkling future.
-DILANA is getting the total hatchet job; not only in camera work and comments from Gilby etc., but here in these flaming hot message boards...DAMN, people; she's flaming out big time and likely goes bye bye tomorrow, but no way am I going to deny that she brings talent to the stage. I'm sick of the drama too, but she is one of the huge reasons this show is sucking us in.
-MAGNI, solid as always and instantly forgettable... with sincere apology to his supporters. His energy level is a fraction of what Toby brings, and he isn't an "artist" ... just a great dude with solid skills.
-TOBY had another smoking performance night, but for me a lot of that comes from his pure energy and infectious enthusiasm for being up there and entertaining the crowd. Those of you who mention his higher pitched, somewhat strident tone ARE BANG ON for my money.
-LUKAS again... slippery little bastard wows me every time out... I was initially a little let down by his take on Bon Jovi and his much-hyped original, and then I watched it again and it fucked me up good... I admire his daring and his uncompromising originality. I have no problem hearing him enunciate, by the way, and agree with those here who point out that many great rock songs are illegible at first... doesn't matter if the voice gets the message across! (buddy of mine used to sing "Dirty Deeds and the Thunder Chief" to AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap")
I sum up with a question, the answer known only to Supernova;
What type of band does Supernova want to be?
1. PARTY - definitely grab Toby and run with it!
2.ARTIST - Lukas brings something fresh and memorable.
Much respect to your American troops abroad, and much love to my fallen Canadians in Afghanistan.
Peace to all, keep rockin' the opinions!

If you all are still wondering which one Dave liked best, my guess would be the one where he was STANDING ON THE BACK OF HIS CHAIR!!! duh

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS I LOVE LUKAS ROSSI!!! HE HAS BROUGHT SO MUCH JOY INTO MY LIFE! HE ROCKED TONIGHT AS HE ALWAYS DOES. I AM SAD THAT TOMORROW MAY BE THAT LAST TIME I SEE HIM IN PERSON. I KNOW HE'S GOING TO WIN, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE I WILL BE WHEN THEY GO ON TOUR.

Thanks to all my 6767 friends for all the time and effort you have put into helping me out. xoxo

Dave, I love reading everything you write on this site! I would love to see Camp Freddy perform. Since the OC Performing Arts Center show is invite only; how does one (me) get invited?

Love you!

Linda, word is he's moving to LA within a few weeks after the show ends. Might be worth checking out accomodations/hostels there and if worse comes to worse, perhaps one of the tourist attractions in the area could be looking for more staff now that school is back in class too.

Linda, you should learn to love your caps lock while you're at it.

This is cool - a whole nation behind Magni
===============

Icelanders’ votes in Rock Star Supernova triple from first week
Björn Sigurdsson, programming director for Icelandic television channel Skjár 1, says that the number of Icelanders casting votes in connection with American TV show Rock Star Supernova tripled last night as compared to the show’s first week. This is reported by Morgunbladid online.

In the reality TV show Rock Star Supernova, a rock band – Supernova – searches for a frontman- or woman. One of the six remaining contestants, Magni sgeirsson, is Icelandic, and consequently the Icelandic nation has been gripped by veritable Supernova-fever. The live weekly broadcast of the show is in the early hours of Wednesday in Iceland, hence not many people stay up to vote. However, with Magni in the remaining six, and having landed in the bottom three for the past two weeks, a massive campaign urging Icelanders to vote between 2am and 6am this morning was launched during last week. Both telecommunications companies in Iceland reduced their rates for SMS votes from ISK .99 to ISK .19, and in east Iceland, Magni’s home turf, a tent was set up with a large screen and wireless Internet connection, people were urged to bring their laptops and cast their votes after the live broadcast, and the secondary school in the area gave students the first period off this morning so they could recuperate from their lack of sleep.

The outcome of the voting and whether Magni Ã?sgeirsson remains in the running will be revealed during a live broadcast in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

WHAT THE FUCK IS LADYLIKE...Please Ohhh please...freedom of speech...lets hear the REAL song. Dave get her on your station and lets hear the real vocals and lyrics. CENSORSHIP sucks ass. All you prudes out there SUCK MY DICK and open your ears to the real world! WHAT THE FUCK (WTF for your prudes).

Drama sucks and I have liked Dilana up until tonight, when she got carried out on the stage and did a one hoppin show with her sore calf. I hope she gets voted off now.

Lukas is losin it IMHO. He was just pouting when he did his version of livin on a prayer. Who is he trying to fool. He is a little bitch pussy whiner.

Magni is awesome and I think he will be great whatever he does. I didnt think until tonight that he would have what it takes to front SN though. I think his personal song was a big MIND FUCK....that was awesome!

Toby...damn that guy is awesome! I thought he reminded me of Duran Duran almost tonight. I think he would be the greatest ticket for them in the energy and broad spectrum of music he can perform. Besides that have you ever seen the guy bring even one second of pitiful drama to the show. He has my vote big time. If he is the front I will be a SN fan for sure.

Storm is so full of talent...if they are going to pick two...I would take her and Toby easy. Like I said her song was the best ever. I agree with you fo sho.

Dave gotta tell you a story bout somethin I did the other day. I was in line (drive thru) and I saw this GI (in his fatigues) get out of his Jeep and go up to the walk through to get a Coffee (here in the NW). I jumped out of my car walked up to the window and paid for his drink (plus tip). He was so grateful...I turned to him, shook his hand and looked him in the eye and said, "thank you son, and I can never come close to repaying you for your time and service, but enjoy your drink knowing I appreciate everything you have done". There you have it.

Really love everything that YOU do too Dave to make our life interesting. Your website is badass and I cant wait for it to pick up and go full time.

Good Luck in your band too.

Lukas. How many punk rockers have $5000 worth of hair, make-up and clothes? You are a poser. Hail Jason, Tommy, and Gilby...Dave too!
Dudes... he wears more makeup on his eyebrows, than you've ever licked off all the supermodels and porn stars in the whole wide world. So there! I'll switch teams for Dilana any day! She has more ballz than Magni and Lukas combined! She doesn't even need a gimmick like running thru the crowd, hopping on pianos, or pulling up babes on the stage. (Even tho that's fun and where we'll be!) If we buy front row tix and come to hang backstage... we think Dilana would be the funnest to run naked into the pool with....not that Storm isn't as hot as ever either by the way...
See you in February! Love hot sexy Vancouver babes from Canada!

Hey Dave,

My favorite performance of the night was Storm's original. Her cover + you was my second by a nose. The two of you interacted so well... and when she was on the ground in front of you... then kicked your guitar... The "Oh Davey! and your kiss... whoa... magic!! I sure hope if I can make the concert that you'll be up there too!!!

Personally for me Dilana plateaued early and is going downhill fast. (all show, no go)

Lukas has been an up and down rollercoaster and is waning now too. His personal best was Bittersweet Symphony and I bought it along with his Creep.

Magni has improved a lot and I really dug his original. I'd put him in 3rd place at this point. If he and Toby recorded together I'd buy it... they were awsome on Citywalk together!

First place?? I want Storm to win, she's been the most constant performer and I think she's the most talanted. She even sang great to a horrid song (I will survive). I just went and pre-ordered her Ladylike single from CD Baby. Toby I love too and if Storm was second to his First I'd be so ok with it!! He kicked A$$ with Supernova and on his original!!

I've heard you obsessing over soup, if you weren't so far away I'd make you my tomato, shrimp or lobster bisques, or my avocado soup. You'd love 'em! I'm a killer cook and soup is so under-rated!! :)

How come the Citywalk stuff was never on the show or webisodes?? I really would have loved to have seen (and heard) better video than the home video on youtube!!

Have fun with the next week, forget the trolls because you're an awsome dude no matter what they say!

Posted by: pdxmom at September 6, 2006 01:11 AM

Soup?! Mmmm, I love my Caldo Verde. Potato, onion, garlic and kale all simmered in chicken broth with slices of chorizo and seasoned with s&p(I also add coriander, cumin and curry powder, especially when I sub half the potatoes for yams).

Back OT, enjoyed your addition to the performances tonight Dave. Any chance you'll repeat that on the final show? Sans shirt please if you do and tell the camera person to move in, so your home audience can read your body!XD *licks*

I'm not even going to bother with critiquing tonight's contestants, I don't think it matters anymore and if the boys HAVEN'T made up their minds by now, then it's because they themselves have no clue what they want their new group to become, or even represent.

Peace out and may the rock flow!

Love ya man! I haven't been so into a tv show since Lost and before that Twin Peaks!! You guys have totally rocked my summer!!! Please say you'll be back again for season 3+ !!!

Storm blew us all away... I even got me some "seconds" and "thirds" when my guy finally watched her! I replayed her performance for him and when she sang "on all fours", guess who was? Gawd she's hot... I don't know if I want her to be my best friend or be my first female lover!! If I ever "crossed the road" it would be to her! Da-yam!

I sure hope she wins, she's got it all. Talent, Beauty inside and out, Poise, HUMOR UP THE WHAZZOO, and Dang she can sing!!!

I see for the final 4 Storm, Toby, Magni and Lukas and I think Storm or Toby for the win. They all win really because they are all selling records already!!

I wasn't anywhere near being a fan of yours until this summer. I've gotten to see what a down-to-earth nice guy you are... and more intellengent and eloquent than I would have expected. No offense I hope, but I originally thought of you as just "some rocker" who partied a lot. I'm so impressed with how you care about so many issues on top of your busy life. You are truely a great and talented person and I must say you have the most amazing eyes!

Love the SRL, keep it always please!!

The shows are just getting better and better.
Loved Storms song and also how every show she is standing up and rocking out, through the whole show. It is so sad to see dilana lose her mojo and oh my god the ladies seemed to love toby.

just got done watching the show here in new zealand! gutted that theres only one week left!!! then what am i going to do??! also pretty gutted that the sn guys seems so keen on lukas.. he just always sounds like hes throwing up. loving toby though.. he keeps getting better and better. great to see you up there tonight, dave.. a yummy little surprise to keep us on our toes! thanks!
goodnight. (or day, or whatever time youre at..)

Just screened in NZ...

Here's the thing, whilst (thats for you Dave!) Dilana hasn't been so great these last couple weeks I just can't see SN seeing themselves fronted by Storm, Toby or Magni - no matter how good they are.

I think it's always been between Dilana and Lukas as they bring the dark side of Rock... Voivod isn't exactly pop-rock you know...

Lukas tonight - i didn't get LOAP. Didn't like it. I haven't heard anyone cover that tune successfully. I actually found myself wanting him to stop. I just don't like his voice - yes its unique - but it is too forced and his vibrato isn't nice. He has a good look, and terrific writing skills from what I hear, but it will come down to his signature sound - does SN see itself sounding like Lukas Rossi...?

Loved Storm tonight. Her original kicked ass. What a talent. Toby - fun. He's an Aussie rocker... I don't think that'll translate to album sales in the US market. Magni... hohum. didn't do much for me tonight..

Good morning, Dave!!
I can't sleep, so I'm doing one of my favorite things, counting pics of you on Jennette's site, I ran across some pics of you at PURE on Friday..is that a new tattoo on your hand, between the Panic Symbol, and the 6767? Or maybe just a funky stamp?
love,

Posted by: jezebel at September 6, 2006 02:50 AM

Whoaa! Dave and Storm?! WOW! That was amazing!! Can I get a HELL YEAH!! ??

That was the best show ever in the history of rockstar! And I agree, Storm's original was the best of both rockstars. I loved Pretty Vegas, still do but I can't get Ladylike out of my head! I have it playing right now from her myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/stormandtheballs

I like the R rated version best and I hope she gets to sing "I Want You to Die" on SN. I've watched some of the videos online and I think SN would like "Universal Remote Control" too.

Toby was awesome, I really loved his original. I hope he makes the final 2 if not win.

Magni was ok on Back in the USSR but I thought he was really great on his original. I didn't agree with what you guys said about the songs being the same tho. I thought his original was more intense, more rock'n. I think he's one of the nicest people in the house, along with Storm and Toby. All three seem like really solid perfomers and "real"... wysiwyg!

Dilana has indeed lost her mojo, seems to be giving up. Lukas is getting too pouty and except for using his voice more hasn't improved. "Game-wise" I don't think either should win. BUT if I were to meet them in person I would love to hang with either one. I like them both actually. I think that Dilana is slowing falling apart from the stress and actually I can like her for that too because that means she's real and human and who's perfect?

I do think however that it's pretty telling that if someone stays professional, level headed and positive under such a situation then they should live through a tour. What's going to happen with dilana on tour? Melt down? Lukas? Moody. Toby? FOODFIGHT!! Magni? Sharing baby pictures?? Storm? She'll be the one to keep everyone in line, motivated and ENERGIZED!

I really respect your opinions, after all you do this for a living and you get to see so much more than we do. I hope whomever they choose that Supernova has all kinds of success along with everyone else who performed on the show. (What took you so long Dave?)

Can't wait for tonight's show and the finale. Are you going to do Rockstar #3?

Posted by: nitelife at September 6, 2006 02:50 AM

the quoted msg below and the answer I gave to it after. So all what are your thoughts on it???

"Dave Navarro's band a totally commercial Indie band which can never acheive popularity"

I would take exception to that.... Dave is a great rocker and his new album ONE is excellent I love the song Spirits of the Teahouse and Why Cry but then that's me... True Rock... The Commercial Rock of today is just that.. weak, flashy no guts rock like substance,,, You know? Kinda like the current SN songs... Dave on the other hand... Oh and did you notice how much better he is on the guitar then Gilby is?

Finally the man I watch the show to see on stage! You've made my week.

Posted by: Brenda at September 6, 2006 03:17 AM

Dave,
when we first started watching RS this season, my 17 yr old was pretty happy about Supernova. He wasn't a big INXS fan but liked Marty and we did go see them and now I am a big Marty fan too. Anyhow, with the guys in Supernova we thought it was going to be a more hard rock driven show and that is what made us watch. Lately most of the songs are Pop (ish) ie, Toby and I for one (MY OPINION, not speaking for anyone but me)want to see more hard rock. Dilana has been getting slammed laetly for speaking her mind, sheesh, everyone needs to get over it. She is still my favorite regardless of what happens. I for one can't understand Lukas as he slurs his words but I guess that is his style. Would I go see him if he fronted Supernova? Probably not. I also like Magni,I think he keeps getting better. Storm, I don't know; good voice but is she right for Supernova or just right for Tommy. Whatever.
Thanks again Dave!

Hey Dave. :-) It was awesome seeing you rockin’ out onstage. Too (spicy language) cool, man. :-) I’m glad you changed your mind about playing this season. :-) Your performance and Lukas’s really made the show for me, tonight. :-) What sort of penance do I have to do for wishing a giant hook would come out and whisk Storm offstage so I could enjoy your hot guitar licks and sexy stage vibe in peace? LOL ;-) Oh, she did fine, picked up as she went along and her original song was good, actually (if heavily censored). She had a good night. :-) Lukas was still the show stealer for me, though. I love it anytime it’s just him and his guitar being featured, so I enjoyed his acoustic version of LOAP. That’s a tough song. But, as he always does, he made it his own. Finding out the history behind “Headspin and then seeing and hearing him give such an emotionally packed performance drove all the other performances of the night right out of my mind. I can’t even remember most of the performers original tunes, but I will *never* forget “Headspin. That song has been stuck in my mind since the first time I heard it and I just love it more and more with each passing day. :-) Wow, they really edited and played down the remarks from ‘the boys,’ though. LOL Too bad, because they gave Lukas some awesome compliments at the taping of the show. :-) I’m feeling bagged out after that marathon voting session. LOL I think I need a nice massage or a sauna. Wish I knew where to find something like that at 4am. LOL ;-)

Ok, everyone talking about how the show is out to get Dilana - she's the one that keeps bringing up this "adversity" in every song selection and song writing clinic. Can she get over it already? If she were to make the band, she'd probably STILL be talking about it when they're out on tour next year. The bottom line is, between that and her poor lyrics, it's time for her to go.

Posted by: Phil at September 6, 2006 04:17 AM

I love Dilana, I really do, and she is imploding right before our eyes. Everything she does or says just makes it all worse than before. I think she is going home tonight, and unfortunately, it has nothing to do with her ability to perform. Actually, given the bad shit that has happened off stage, I am impressed at her ability to ignore it all and just give an amazing performance. I doubt I could do the same. So, goodbye for now, Dilana- I hope we see you soon with your own music (well, maybe written by someone else!)

Posted by: arwen at September 6, 2006 04:21 AM

Dave,

Please chill with your whopping statements like "that was the best song ever in the galaxy" or "that was the greatest thing since I put my lips on a big tittie" I mean COMON!! Lol just busting balls.

1. Storm finally peaked I knew she was a hard core rocker from her Storm Inc videos. She is massive and captivating. In daves famous words "That was Awesome"

2. Dilana is melting down big time. She just cant get over this hit to her ego and is on this sympathy for the devil kick and it BLOWS ASSS!! She is done and thank god i always thought she was a spoiled music chick that was given everything to her. Adios! Chica!

3. Toby is just to poppy for me like he should be on the cover of Teen Idol or something. Or maybe he would sing a kids song for a teletubbies show. Or maybe he would sing an oldie but a goodie on the today show. Not my cup of tea mate!

4. Magni is just boring to me, but i did like his original. He just has this concieted edge to him and he just doesnt have that "something something" that i need.

5. Lukas just brings it he is by far the most original and the most gutsy. I mean COMON! doing a bon jovi song OMG anyone esle would have passed the "I will survive" song lameness and ass chewing bomb that it was. Balls to Lukas for consistently taking on dares. Do you remember that Stones song lets spend the night together? He just said fuck it to these guys I will just take whats left and he killed it man. Creativity, edgyness, style and this dude is one KOOL Muther fucker no doubt!

My dream show?
Lukas wins Supernova gig!
Storm Inc or the balls tours as the undercard!
Ya baby!

Oh please don't take it wrong I am just a mom checking out what her kids are into. As i said i have been checking Dave out since I just recently found out how much my daughter loves him and Iam very impressed with him but I had some doubts just like a another guy did some posts behind mine. It's just so hard to believe that a famous person really does devote there time to their fans like he does. But the fans have replyed and told me to listen to the radiolive and that would confirm that he really does post here him self and does reply. please dont get me wrong I really like what he is about. And no I am not trying to get attention here sorry for that and I dont want an e-mail no special attention for me I am just sorry some took it wrong. Just a mom checking things out and Dave keep up the great work and you have great wonderful fans who really care about you. when I have time I will listen to radiolive like your fans have suggested, Iam sure I will like it you do seem to have a huge heart of gold remember I am just a mom and an interested fan. oh and why did no one jump on the other guy that had doubts why me chit to tell you the truth I thought no one would even read what I wrote boy was I wrong. I apolagize, I am so sorry Dave and to his Fans now can we put this behind us and carry on with the peace and love that Dave has brought to this site. Take care everyone.

to the people comparing last night's originals to "pretty vegas," you're forgetting that JD did not write the music to that -- andrew farris of INXS wrote it and JD penned the lyrics for a clinic. last night's rockers, as far as we know, came up with the riffs, the melodies, the everything. that makes them more impressive to me on a song-writing front. JD's hit was a hit because of the funky groove, not because of his stupid hitch-hiking lyrics.

Hey Dave it was *fantastic* seeing you on stage last night! You rocked, as usual ;-)

I must say though that Lukas once again blew me away. What he did to Living on a Prayer...I was on the edge of my seat, I could not believe what I was hearing! I am saying this in a good way! No one else, not one of the other rockers could ever have pulled that off. I love his style and he just consistently brings it every single week. Amazing. His original Headspin was also incredible... what an intense, dramatic and complicated delivery of that song. I agree with Tommy Lee that I want to see a frontperson who does the unexpected, who scares me, who makes me think anything can happen! I can definitely say Lukas did all to me and more with his two performances last night. Love it, love it, love it.

Lukas is on a whole other level from the others. I like Toby and Storm, but thinking of Lukas fronting Supernova is so exciting...it makes me think that they could have an absolutely awesome potential as a band. I can only hope they see in him what many of us do!

Love you, Dave! Can't wait to see you live in concert after that little taste of you on stage last night. :-P

“What the f**k is ladylike, is my cup of tea. Storm was the big standout for me.

I consider myself a rather staid mother of two and I don’t usually follow reality shows. However, I obsess over this program and I voted for Storm about 10 times last night. I want to see a woman rocker fronting Supernova and the rockin’ Amazon proved that she’s up to the job and she did it by being herself.

I was expecting Storm’s elimination last week and was surprised when Ryan went. I really like Storm. She’s big and beautiful and showed a wicked side last night. It’s too bad she couldn’t sing her original with the original lyrics, but we got the picture. It was a treat to see you up there with her. The chemistry was sizzling.

It’s too bad that Dilana’s star seems to be fizzling. Up until a couple of weeks ago her performances were bang on. Then her mouth ran away on her and she never recovered. On the trip between self-flagellation and attacking online voters was a bit much and she lost me there (Uh hello, people are judging you. You’re in a competition for Christ’s sake). She’s just marinating herself in it. I want to shake her and say GET OVER IT. She’s such a great singer.

Obviously, lyrics aren’t Dilana’s strong point (at least from what we’ve seen). I think she suffers from what I call Alanis Morissette syndrome, i.e., way too much explaining going on in those lyrics. But I think back to what she did to Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire. Man, I loved that reprisal of the classic. I couldn’t get it out of my head for a couple of weeks. I hope she survives but it’s not looking good.

Here’s a summary of what I’m thinking about the others:

Magni – I like his vocal range, but like Tommy pointed out, his performances are rather the same. I loved Magni’s response to Tommy’s question about the performance styles. Very witty and understated. Very Magni.

Lukas (aka Skunkhead as he’s known in this house) – He’s a risk taker. The dark and dirty version of Livin’ on a Prayer worked for me even though I couldn’t understand about a third of the lyrics. He has the weirdest enunciation. I didn’t like his original but I did enjoy his performance. I think he’s going to win this thing and I feel ambivalent about that but I will be patriotic it that’s the outcome, him being Canadian and all, eh.

Toby – He has been the most surprising. I found him boring in the first half of the season but he has really shone lately. Vocally, he’s alright. But when it comes to composing or performing he has been delivering some sweet stuff.

Thanks for the forum.

Its great that everyone is on the Toby bandwaagon but lets get real. Consistancy? If he can't bring week after week, how will he bring it night after night on a tour???

Posted by: 2bcrazy at September 6, 2006 05:50 AM

The last 3 standing will be - Lucas, Toby and Storm for sure!
Their performances seem to get better and better with each week that passes (so sad there's only 1 week to go)

Jezzi THANKYOU for that wonderful link!!! mmm mmmm

It seems that I am the only person around here that doesn't like Lukas Rossi.
I don't like the way he sings, I don't like the way he looks. I don't like him at all.
But, Dave you on stage last night was absolutely fantastic! You really should do this again!
Cheers form Brazil!

Jesus, the comments are giving me a headache.

I'll just say that you rocked with Storm last night. It was great to finally see you up on that stage.

Dave,
Love the show. Hoping it will help rock rise again after the recording and radio industry almost killed it with rap, hip hop, R&B and the pop of boy bands, Britney and her ilk.
I'm a fan of yours, Dave, but what you did to Dilana was really poor form. IMO, the stuff that Ryan and Lukas have said during the season was much worse. Since his exit, Ryan has shown himself to be the extremely arrogant ass we got a glimpse of on the show.
I don't understand the love affair with the Lukas that writes great lyrics, but then you can't understand them when he mumbles or growls. On the other hand, I think Dilana is a great performer, but she can't write and, based on the first two songs revealed by SN, they clearly need a good songwriter.
For weeks now, I keep wishing that SN would hire two of the rockers. I remember how great Jefferson Airplane was with two very powerful singers. Too bad Lukas and Dilana are both screwed up and can't stand each other.
However, in recent weeks, I think Storm and Toby have been blowing Dilana and Lukas away. Both are great singers, songwriters, and performers solo and together. They also appear to be consistently professional and stable and get along with everyone. If I was SN, I would hire both of them.
As for Magni, terrific voice but performances are never memorable...always forgettable. I hope the Iceland vote doesn't prevent SN from sending him home tonight.

Posted by: Cynthia at September 6, 2006 06:35 AM

Holy shit, Dave! If SuavePorn doesn't hire Storm, you damn well should. That was awesome tonight. Storm was back to her authentic self and it was *fantastic*.

And props for supporting brain tumour patients, man. I work in neurosurgery and a lot of patients have it really tough. Anyone who's working to make things better for them has my support.

You're welcome for the wonderful link..but it's there for all of you...go to the right hand side of this page, click on links, go to Jennette's Fans of Dave Navarro..she has the most awesome collection of everything DAVE, from Camp Freddy, to Panic Channel, to HUNDREDS of pics of DAVE..one of the original baby unis, and I would bet 80 percent of the posters from the last two months don't know what that means....while you are over at the links, check out Calendar of Events, scroll down to bottom of page, and the links will connect you to another original...the lovely Deena...you first time posters, long time lurkers, RSSN fans, and newfound fans of Dave, owe it to yourselves to see what fans of his for over 15 years have seen...

jezzi(stepping off my pulpit...Go Storm!)

PS...Dave, I see a long day in your future..don't forget the power nap!! and some Nitro2Go!

Hi dave, I'm from Malaysia. INXS just came by for a concert last month. I didnt go because jd isnt my fav. For next year, I thought I WOULDNT MISS IT FOR THE WORLD IF DILANA FRONTING THE BAND.

Seriously, other rockers bored me to tears. Tobby is a bit teeny-bopper for my liking. Magni's too plain. Storm, not bad, but not quite "IT" either. Lukas. well, he's the next best rocker after dilana.

I think dilana's a victim of mark burnet's editing. Yes, her writing skills suck, true.

BUT SHE'S THE ONLY REASON I MAKE IT A POINT TO COME BACK EARLY FROM WORK AND WATCH THE TV.

Sigh. Something is seriously wrong if she's not chosen.

Can someone tell me how to vote from the internet?

"Will u ppl please!!!!!!!!! STOP with the obnoxiously long fuc**ng posts!??! It sucks ass and for us using blackberrys and helios and shit we can't continue on wit it cuz it merely stops at fucking page 11 and it's nearing that after only a few bleeding posts. Gracias!!

Posted by: marilynhadNOdad at September 5, 2006 05:51 PM"

WAH FUCKING WAH. guess what...this is NOT YOUR BLOG. so that means you really don't have any say so over it.
personally i don't read all of these posts anyway. some are too long, and some i find irriating...like all of these comparisons between INXS and SN people. Dilana is not Jordis. although neither one can sing worth a flip. Marty is not Toby and Lukas is not JD. good grief people. it is kind of like when people compare The Panic Channel to Jane's. different band totally. drives me crazy. but guess what?? IT IS NOT MY BLOG EITHER. so what do i do?? i choose what i read and what i don't. wow, what a concept. ps--it is only a TV show..not real life. at least not your real life.

Jezzi have I told you lately that I love you?

I do. MWAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Yes Dave you have a long day today...red bull anyone?

OH GREAT DARK ONe,
I moved to the Southeast Coast 13 years ago...I used to love it here..but WTF...I feel like Rock has gone Rap with a "East vs West" thing...We NEVER get anything!! And if we do we have to go to Atlanta or all the way to Orlando..(5 hours either way for us) and then it's like a "one night" affair with some crappy band of yesteryear. Yes, the city I live in is pathetic (but it's cheap!!)...does that mean we don't deserve you guys to fly out here?? PLEASE..think east coast tour!!
Sorry if I sound like a bitter old bitch...was up all night voting for that other project you do, I buried my neighbors cat at 5am and my hair looks like Slash styled it this morning...
Love and Peace...
KEEP IT CREEPY,
Draven

Posted by: topcat at September 6, 2006 06:51 AM

Dave,

Last night's performance was awesome! What a treat! I did not think we would see you on stage this season. That made my week.

I really liked Storm's original tune! It was full of energy! Obviously, Tommy loved it also. I did not care for Dilana's original, I think some of her star is burning out, but she has guts to get up and perform injured. If I could have understood Lukas I might have liked his song better.

It will be interesting to see who goes home!

Love to all........

Posted by: Michelle in LR at September 6, 2006 07:01 AM

Oh I think Lukas is JD alright in terms of being head and shoulders above the competition.Whaddya think would happen if Lukas actually had songs to sing that he wanted? There is a reason that Dilana always gets her song the same reason Marty didn't sing anything melodic.

Posted by: KeithMoonLives at September 6, 2006 07:14 AM

I think all contenders performed solidly with their covers and originals. Toby, though, may have emerged as a serious candidate to front SN. FIrst, he sings well. He has energy. He interacts with the crowd, especially with the ladies. SN seems more like the "fun side of rock" as opposed to the "dark side of rock". I think Dilana and Lukas are great, but perhaps too angst-ridden for SN.

Posted by: Bri@n at September 6, 2006 07:33 AM

I was never too much a storm fan but last night, her original kicked ass - and seeing her on stage with Dave, WOW! Im voting for storm all the way. It is quite pathetic that Dilana continues the drama, even tho we all want to forget it! Get over it! And Mr. Navarro - you looked delicious as usual...EYE CANDY AT ITS BEST! Thank you so much for rocking out for your fans. We so appreciate it!

Storm was AWESOME! Her original was my favorite, with Toby's a close second. I agree that Dilana and Lukas are less FUN rock. I like the more upbeat performances of STORM and TOBY. Can't wait for tonight's show.

Posted by: Tracy T at September 6, 2006 07:41 AM

Hey Dave,

You kicked ASS up with Storm last night...it was an awsome surprise for sure!!!!!!!!
Lukas was my fave tonight followed closely by Toby...he sure is stepping it up each week.

Everyone is commenting on the comments to Lukas from Tommy and Jason that were edited out...Does anyone know what those comments were or where I could find them?????????
My curiosity is killing me about this!!!

Rock on Dave!!

yeah, please remember her flawless, stellar perfomances all this while. she's unmatched.

even if she doensnt win, that's ok. I will only go see her solo gig. Not supernova's

Posted by: jojo at September 6, 2006 07:48 AM

You and Storm the beautiful people - with talent too. Am going to rewatch both her songs.

Thanks for giving us that treat.

Posted by: Lynne at September 6, 2006 07:51 AM

was talking about DILANA. THE REAL WINNER.

Posted by: jojo at September 6, 2006 07:55 AM

I know there are far more serious issues at stake here, but could someone please explain that thing on Gilby's head to me? I believe it moved last night; someone set a trap for it! Have you seen the pictures of Tom Cruise's baby? I'm thinking Gilby may be the real father!

As for the show last night, Dave, you playing was definitely the highlight. You and Storm were high energy and entertaining without going over the top.

I'm not sure how Dilana's delightful love song to the fans slid by without comment. Would someone please explain to me how it could be possible that Dilana's crash and burn is the fault of editing? Unless they are splicing together words and using a computer to make her mouth move; all the most offensive things she's done, every withering look, every whiny comment has come directly from her. No editor is that talented.

Lukas, as delightful as he is off stage, really perplexes me onstage. Forget hobbits, skunks and Clint Howard, I'm pretty sure now he's Mumbles from Dick Tracy.

Magni is a sweetheart, but I don't think he could hold his own in front of the diverse personalities of SN.

Toby may not have the vocal chops of some of the others, but his likeability factor is off the charts. I think he's the one to keep SN young and in the spotlight for more than a minute.

But then what do I know? My track record on this show stinks. I pulled for Mig and Ryan!!

Posted by: Debbiedoo at September 6, 2006 07:55 AM

Just wondering if anyone seen the voting results after the first few minutes, I missed them, and was wondering how it went?
Thanks

you stupid people are easily swayed by the tv. i learn mass comm and I know how they can bloody brainwash your brain. Just like CNN.

Dilana's the real deal. Cant believe you're even remotely considering tobby.

FUCK SUPERNOVA. AND FUCK YOU TOO, DAVE.

Hey Dave!

I am gonna tell you what you already know.
Your performance along with Storm was amazing!. Congratilations!
I also liked a lot the Ladylike like song from Storm; it was really cool!

Keep the good energy!

Posted by: Arturo at September 6, 2006 08:05 AM

Looks like everyone has had their say on all the songs last night. I have but just one: If Nickleback ever needs a lead singer, Magni should apply. Last night this is how he reminded me....of Nickleback.

Mos Def Storm's 'WTF is Ladylike' will be a hit at the bars when all the girls get drunk and sing & dance together at the end of the night!

DAVE- Please: NO SHIRTS ALLOWED!

DEBORAH- sorry for taking your post the wrong way. I commend you for checking up on your kid on the internet! I do the same thing! My apologies. Maybe everyone was just getting snippy by the afternoon- I mean after all, yesterday was MONDAY to most of us! :)

Oh yeah, Did I mention NO SHIRTS, Dave?? Puhleeze! Remember some of us just watch RS:SN to see you!

I never post about the contestants but I must say that Lukas is sort of freakish looking even for SN! But to each his own, as they say.

I'm pretty sure that Jon Bon Jovi DID NOT watch Lukas butcher LOAP last night because I haven't seen in the newspaper or on MSN where he jumped off a tall building or anything. That just sucked. Musical Genious? I think not.

My 11 year old son was singing Storm & Tobys songs in the shower this morning!

See U tonight DAVE!

Hi Dave....I just finished reading the comments...I HAVE to respond to 2 of them. I am 56 years old...a child of the 60's....I am an artist...I have a loving husband...a great son...and a wonderful granddaughter...I still am lucky enough to have my Dad with me who turned 90 this past June. 1st of all this is to reply to Deborah's comment about you not "personally" writing this blog..blah...blah...all I can say to her..."Girl...get a grip.....do some research...read Dave's book....how can you even think for one second that Dave Navarro is anything but REAL"!!!!!! He is probably one of the most sincere and "not phony" rock stars out there....and YES...he does care about his fans...AND he does WRITE his own material!
2nd......I read "Greensthings" comment....Hey Girl! I am also a survivor of a brain tumor! 2 weeks before I was planning on going sky-diving for my 50th birthday it was discovered...that put an end to that...unfortunately...but who's complaining! I'm here! and I'm still rockin out to Dave Navarro....I think he is the sweetest person...and maybe some day due to "Head to Hollywood" I will have the oppurtunity to meet him! I thank him from the bottom of my heart for doing charity work for the "Head to Hollywood" institution...and for being the person he is....Good luck to you greensthings...and keep on planning to sky-dive...it will happen! Dave...I love ya! Thanks for letting me put my 2-cents in here....from one of your "older" fans!
PS....I was a fan of Dilana's...I'm not so sure now....I really think that any one of these talented rockers could pull it off...looking forward to watching the elimination show tonight! Peace and Love...Vicci
