The Tuesday Show
Tonight is our second to last Rockstar episode... Tomorrow is the finale and then that's it. This blog goes back to the way it was, I focus on music (after a week's vacation somewhere), the photo exhibit, radio, The Product and touring. Tonight on the show, we hear the remaining four do a cover and their originals again. Also, the winner of the online vote for a return performance comes back to do a song. Pretty basic stuff. There is one bit of online speculation that is kind of fun to address, if nothing else. Once again it comes from Janet Charlton: "Judging by his past badmouthing of this site, Dave Navarro isn't going to like the following piece of information ONE BIT. Despite Dave's protestations, readers of this site already KNOW who the winner of Rockstar Supernova will be. We have another tidbit of incriminating evidence to reveal: Promotional photos have ALREADY BEEN TAKEN of the winner with his new band!" Oh, Janet... I never bad mouthed your site! However, when gossip bloggers become pseudo online celebs, it's only obvious that they will wake up one morning in a glass house. I will give Janet this... She does have pictures of herself on her site and contact info. If a gossip columnist is willing to be that available, then they are in my book, a notch above all the others. In fact, I think that entertainment critics should be obligated to have their picture and a list of their top 5 favorite films, book and records made available. That way, we can decide if we even give a fuck where they are coming from. Anyway, back to the point. Janet says promotional pictures have been taken. In this digital age where we can crank out pictures in about 30 seconds and have them up and online in about 10, why would anyone even bother going through a charade such as that? In fact, what would be the point in scamming the public anyway? The Supernova guys have the final word either way. They can choose, three months ago or tomorrow and have the exact same outcome. Someone gets eliminated tomorrow and then we will have a final three, one of which Supernova chooses as their singer. At this point, I am over all the gossip, conspiracy and rumor surrounding the show. It's just fun for me to watch and comment on from time to time. Think what you want to think. You think it's fixed? Fine. You think certain contestants were misrepresented? OK. Awesome! After tonight's episode, my ON AIR job is pretty much done. No more comments or critiquing to do. Tomorrow, I just kick it on the couch, watch it unfold just like the viewers at home and check out Supernova do some songs with their new singer. As far as speculations go, I still stand behind where I was a few days ago. I think that Lukas and Dilana have the best shots at winning this thing. I think they are both unique and edgy with killer voices and could both do the job extremely well. Even though Toby and Magni are arguably better singers in some ways, there are certain elements that I think they lack in order to fill the position. Frankly, to me, they are just less compelling to watch on stage. The good news is all of them are more than likely going to be on the tour in some capacity... Either as Supernova's lead singer or performing with the House Band.

Good morning Dave...Awesome comments as usual, straight, to the point, no bull shit in between. I think if it is between Dilana and Lukas, I hope Lukas gets it. I just think SN guys need that young fresh edgy male influence. I am female, so I will probably piss alot of women off, but in all the years I have listened to Rock, i tend to lean towards male lead singers and I know all my male friends do the same thing. I like female rockers, love Storm she is unbelievalbe, just something about the guys......thanks for letting me post my opinion. Lots of love Bratty

Your witty, insightful comments here and on the couch have made me a fan Mr. Navarro!
I heard a song of yours here on the radio (coming to Toronto must have paid off because I've heard you guys be played quite often!) and I like what I've heard so far!
Best of luck to you and hopefully we'll see you for Rockstar V3!

The final 5 all did promotional pictures with SN-they're on Tommy's website. Duh, bitch-although she's right, Lukas will win

I do not understand why it really matters if Rockstar Supernova is real or just good tv entertainment. I have enjoyed the show and I think if the winner was chosen already why does it really matter?

Dave,
RS:SN is ending and this means that I won't see you on TV every week. Which is very sad.. :-(

Dude, awesome idea to have critics post some of their favourite things...
Unless I find out that Roger Ebert and his wife like to get down to Snoop Dogg. I'm not sure I can come back from that kind of info.
As for SN, I still feel that Lukas is head and shoulders above the others as the obvious choice. Toby seems cool enough, but in a "I should be fronting a Smashmouth-type band" way.

Thanks for putting up with the madness, Dave. Haters, conspiracy theorists and gossip columnists notwithstanding, this show totally kicks the ass of American Idol. Format, talent, critiques, house band. I am sad to see it end. I hope there's a third season.

Hi Dave,
Yes, Lukas and Dilana both have killer voices and both could probably do the job, however Lukas has more, much more than just a killer voice. He has a more dynamic vocal, which at times is a thing of real beauty, and he has an intense passion which rocks my world and lots of others. He is the real deal, if that is what they are looking for. Dilana is a great, great entertainer but there's one drawback, she's just not Lukas.

Bon Voyage. Enjoy the vaca and hope they have expresso machines wherever you're going. Hey, I heard that today is the anniversary of when The Monkees first aired on t.v. Supernova and the drama are similar to the Monkees and their shanagins, well, yeah....except Davy didn't wear make-up. So yes, the viewers watch and someone makes money. Get over it people. Who cares. Read a book, listen to some music, make some music, make some love, write on Dave's blog - say hi and blow him a kiss...ETC. Life goes on. That's what makes it interesting. Blowing kisses from Albuquerque. Ta ta.

Dilana looked better with SN than Lukas. Lukas made them all look so OLD!! (I'm not saying Dilana is old - she just turned 34 last month) SN members aren't that old but they looked beat up and tired with him. Dilana's SN song performance was more of a concert than a song. No other performer had dancing girls or anything close to that stage production. Does that mean anything? Hell if I know. I just hope she wins. The majority of Lukas fans will find some new boy to squee over next month. Performers like him are a dime a dozen.
Json Newsted doesn't look like he's in the market for 'androgyny" in his lead singer.
Posted by: Dan at September 12, 2006 09:55 AM
What do you mean?????? You don't like Toby or Magni????? WTF??? :)
I'm glad the madness will soon be over for ya.
Hey, let's go fishing dude. Ain't nothing better than a good 'ole fishing trip to get away. Maybe some blue marlin near, say, Hawaii or big mouth bass fishing, near, say Savannah?

What up Dave! I am pumped and ready for tonights show. I am pulling for Toby. Dilana is alright but I just dont see it. Lukas, Well I just cant stand his voice. I am surprised to see that he has made it this far. Tonight I am stopping at the beer store and picking up some Bud Light and hell might roll a fat one, turn the show on and jam to what they bring tonight. I hope tonights show ROCKS HARD! I am looking forward to hearing there new soundtrack. By the way I was jamming to your new soundtrack in the shower, it rocks! Well, Im going to miss ya, look forward to next season. Is there going to be a season 3 with Dave?

Dave, we all need a break after Rockstar ends. All the drama, real or manufactured, the nastiness on the boards, the same songs repeated over and over (including the originals!) have made this season an ordeal to endure rather than the joyride of Rockstar INXS.
Let's get back to normal now.

I can't wait to hear Headspin again!! I bet the American public just can't wait to hear that song blasting out over their TV for the third time in a row!!! What a saviour Lukas is!! Without him rock would be dead!!! Dilana is lucky if Lukas lets her change a flat tire on the tour bus!!! LOL!!!!

Hi Dave
I have just been following your blog since RS/SN started this year and I must say it has been totally entertaining. I'm sure you will like getting back to normal but I know I will miss this. It is so interesting to see all the comments by people (here and on the RS/SN site)from different countries. No matter where you are from, who your favorite is, or even what kind of music you like, everyone is basically the same and realy come together over music. Music is such a POWERFUL tool.
Even though I will miss this Dave, I'm still going to keep checking out your blog.
That may not mean much since you certainly do not know me but just thought I would let you know anyway.
rock on

Hey Dave,
I just visited her site.Too funny she accuses you of leaking the "winner" to Jimmy Kimmel and that he is blabbing it all over town.Yeah I can see Jimmy all wound up over who is going to front the TLee project and is fervently text messaging everyone he knows about what Dave "leaked" to him.Give me a fucking break.Although I could see Ryan doing that though apparently he is quite keen on the text messaging thing from what I hear.
I also call bullshit of her actually having any information. She must know someone who actually knows something about music the industry and talent that told her that Lukas was winning.Fuck me after about 3 weeks I would have put 10 grand on Lukas winning if I had it to bet.I could have put that on a website too but really how fucking lame is that.

Dave, love your comments & ditto for music critics!!
BTW.. you & Storm look so great together. Chemistry. Hope to see more.
Still think Lukas + Dilana is the way to go. When I heard them together, I was immediately reminded of how awesome Marty Balin & Grace Slick were together. Hmmmm.. Jefferson Airplane was probably before your time so it might be hard to relate, despite the "classics" that survived the band. In any case, the show has been great. Thanks for the ride!

Dave, I can't wait for the next season of RockStar! This show is great entertainment. The competition aspect of it just adds a bit of spice to an already amazing television experience.
Thank you for being as amazing as you are as a host, a musician, and as a communicator. You are certainly making use of all digital media available today. It's people like you who will ensure that Rock and Roll doesn't get smothered by over-produced homogenized "music" (ie. crap). Love you!
Posted by: Monica at September 12, 2006 10:32 AM
Lukas + Dilana is absurd. One or the other, pleeeze.
Posted by: mizzy at September 12, 2006 10:38 AM
It is a shame that things get so out of hand, but it does make for interesting reading. It has been a very entertaining season. I am hopeful for a RS3. I agree that SN could have decided who the winner was after their first meeting but who cares?? It is their band, they are the ones that have to work with the singer. I don't consider that fixed. There have been some great performances and I am sorry to see it end. Either way I have become and will remain a regular visitor to your site. Your comments and opinions are fun to read. I like the fact that you put it out there and could care less what all of the "nutcases" in the world think.
Love to all.....
Posted by: Michelle in LR at September 12, 2006 10:41 AM
At this point, I would pay to see a show featuring either Lukas or Dilana. I could watch Lukas over and over again, but have the feeling that Dilana would wear on me. Magni's got a great voice but lacks that extra edge to headline the band. However, with his recent performances, I think Toby just might sneak in there and take the whole thing. Gilby already likes Toby and I think the SN guys would rather hang out with him than with L or D. I guess we'll just all have to see.
Thanks again Dave for yet another awesome season.

Morning Dave. :-) Oh, that wacky Janet… LOL Quite the magpie, isn’t she? ^^ Has to wrap her beak around and run her tongue over anything ‘shiny,’ but useless, she comes across. ;-) After the things harsher critics have said about TPC, it occurred to me today that if the tabloid press are ‘vultures,’ then critics are ‘crows:’ they sit in low branches making grating, irritating noises. They caw and fuss, picking at things until their feathers fall out. Sometimes, they say something that almost resembles human speech. But, don’t be fooled, because in the end they really are bird brains. (Not to insult true birds, which are startlingly intelligent.) Yeah, performance show tonight. I’m ready to weep. I’ve *been* crying since hearing what Lukas would be performing and why—and I’m not the teary type, in general. LOL ;-) That guy makes me verklempt. And that’s part of why he’s such a brilliant artist and singer. He bares his soul and completely encompasses his audience in his emotional realm. I’ve got his crown all polished up for him… tomorrow night’s the night, Baby! :-) And tonight I’ll be a voting foo’ for our lad. :-) But, in general, I wish all the performers well, especially lads and lasses like Toby, Magni and Storm. :-) Seeing the friendships that have developed between people like Lukas and Toby has been very sweet. :-) So glad you’ll soon have your blog back. LOL *sends Dave hugs* Well, *almost.* As long as I’m not bugging the (blue streak) out of you (and feel free to let me know if I am LOL ;-) ), I’m pretty comfortable roosting here from time to time with your sweet self, the ‘Family’ and your (more colorful language but in a strictly loving way LOL ;-) ) Mafia. :-) While you’re taking that well deserved vacation, we’ll bring in a Feng Shui Master to make sure the blog is facing the right direction and has an upbeat color scheme when you get back. ;-) And someone to ensure all the chakras are balanced and your alignment is in attunement. ;-P I may even be able to swing a few Buddhist monks to do some chanting, playing ‘singing bowls’ and making a Sand Mandala just to make sure all bases are covered. ;-) Suffice it to say you’ll have great vibes waiting for you when you get back. ;-) Even though tomorrow will represent the end of certain things, it’s just a wonderful beginning or continuation for so much else. La vita è bella! :-)

I'd like to see RS3 be RS:Van Halen as the rumors about this season hinted.
I love VH's music but Ed and Al (to a lesser degree) seem to be real d?cks and probably wouldn't make for good TV. I mean, ya gotta like the band members looking for a singer, dontcha?
Posted by: Scott at September 12, 2006 10:52 AM
I don't have to be a gossip columnist to "guess" that Lukas Rossi will be the new lead singer of SN. All you have to do is open your eyes and ears. Beyond Lukas' outstanding performances, the boys have been giving us clues all season long as to what they are looking for.
TLee said exactly who will be chosen in an interview on September 10th
http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3792586a1860,00.html
Quote:
"The world, he says, is lacking real rock stars and once they find that person, "a dangerous, arrogant, great-looking, great-singing rock star", he and his bandmates have the experience to keep it going long after the hype dies down."
MBP's editing to cut out the positive comments (given to Lukas) from the SN pod, unanimous support of all his ex-housemates, and my excellent track record of picking winners on these shows, makes the answer pretty obvious.

One good thing I'll have to say about RS SN is that it has opened me up to your music. Up until now I knew of you, but didn't know you (so to speak). Your opinion has always been right on the money. And most of all, TPC is the shit!! Can't get enough of it....

Dave: Beyond a doubt, you are one of the most erudite rockers around. I thoroughly enjoy your writing style - you rebut with intellectual missiles which quashes the "opponents". Thank you for your insightful blog during the course of Rock Star - I loved hearing your thoughts on the show and the rockers. I would like to mention that all of the rockers were great singers - different styles, different looks, but all great. Just because they were eliminated doesn't mean anything other than they were not suited for the Supernova niche. I think it'll be a hard decision to pick one of the four remaining rockers - each one has a remarkable voice and persona. I have to say that I'm drawn to Toby as the lead and here's why: Lukas had demonstrated good writing ability but only does enough to just "get by". He has had a lot of feedback on using his voice and performing on stage. Dilana, while a terrific voice and stage presence, has not exhibited great song writing skills or handled her meltdown very well. Pressures in the rock world don't abate, it's only gets worse. Magni also doesn't have the song writing skills but is a good stage presence and great voice. Toby has had it all - yeah, I know he was in the bottom a few times, but look how he handled it! He has also encored a few times, and can write pretty good songs. He ain't bad to look at, either! LOL! Well, that's my opinion, and the bottomline is that YOU, DAVE, ARE MY MAIN MAN! :) Thanks, Dave, and keep up the great rockin' stuff! *mwah*

I have to agree with you on who has that extra edge to them and who doesn't. They are all great performers, but some do stand out above others. My pick (like most others) is Lukas. I am in my middle thirties and it has been a long time since a singer has made me this crazy for music. Hats off to him.

Dilana?? Honestly??has the Rock edge? talented?so Control, alt delete is the shit then..bwwwaaaa!!!I think she would make a good actress! And from the last Webisode Lukas didn't recognize Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd...he should be spanked for that. it's so easy to fake that edge you're always referring to, it's easy to put on some make-up and black clothes but I think rock and roll comes from the heart, it's within you not in your hair! it seems like Magni is the most driven one of the remaining 4,takes the lead at the right time and is the most talented one of the four, not only can he sing but plays the guitar quite well and seems to be there for his mates to assist them (back vocals for Dilana and the guitar for Toby). Magni and the houseband would be awesome. Toby or Lukas with Supernova!!! Cheers

With Lukas comes a sense of hope, and an unbridled anticipation of the music he will bring to the world stage. He is THE gifted lyricist, vocalist and performer that the world of music has not seen for a very long time. That in my mind places him leagues above the others. It’s just not good enough to be a great singer or entertainer like Dilana, Toby or Magni. We need Lukas, we need his passion, we need his soul, and we need his star quality. We need someone we can worship and the only one inspiring that type of feeling in people is Lukas.

This house is rooting for Dilana!!!!! Gilby wants to be different than other bands so I think that sways in D's direction. Lukas is a great performer but I still cant see him singing " hey hey hey " and "oh oh oh".

aj, I hope to god no-one wants anyone to sing "hey hey hey" and "oh oh oh", not even Supernova. Somehow I think the first two songs will not make the cut. The second two had significantly more promise.

But I think Magni is SEXY!! Does this mean nothing anymore? :-)
So this idea that the lead has been picked has been flying around. And I'm thinking, if the person wins that most people are predicting will win, what a boring finale. So, could it be we're in for a HUGE suprise????
Please tell me it is so. We can put makeup and a wig on him if that makes a difference!! Pretty please???

Thanks, Dave, for this great blog. Like some, I'd really not known very much about you or your music until RS:SN. Will miss the show, though it has definitely run its course and I'm ready for the winner to be selected. Will stay with the blog, though.
Love TPC and ONe; can't get SRL at home, and you're rarely up and running live when I'm at work, but that's okay -- I'll just enjoy the CD and the blog.
Really don't get the whole Lukas thing, maybe I'm just too old to appreciate him; I kind of like singers that allow me to understand and appreciate the lyrics. But maybe that's what the boys want. And if he wins, I'm sure his excellent fans will have a great time.
Shalom!

Dave, I just wanted to thank you for always being so honest in all of your blog entries. I have loved watching Rockstar since the first season last year-and finally it has been a thrill to be included in the voting demographic. I am from Canada and believe that music is very much an international language-it is always so humbling to see a fellow Canadian be on an American format show. Would you all be surprised that on last years Rockstar season, I was still voting for Marty over Jd? And this year I am still voting for Dilana over Lukas? haha Not that I hate my Canadian competitors, but I am just very much there for the music. Either way,it has been a privelage to be reading your blog and to get the REAL scoop on the Supernova crew.
I have been tired of people always skirting around the truth because of good politics. Music isn't political in the sense that is is free and alive.
I just wish that the Supernova crew would remember to tour in more than 3 places in Canada...we here in Calgary have LOVED the show and tend to get left out of the mix because our city isn't as metropolitan as Toronto. So Dave, if your band ever wants to come to Canada, be sure to visit Calgary too! ;)
Thanks for everything and another amazing season!

I give my vote to Lucas he can put on a great show and he is won;t have to pop his tour cherry with SN.
Thanks for the great read and making the show fu to watch.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for the lead guitar spot on SN. Just a sideman gig as I know that Gilby can't play lead.
I've been enjoying the show, but I stand by my previous post of calling RS-SN the Monkees of 2006. They are just a TV show, and SN are NOT a serious band.
Get a grip folks. :-)

Hey Dave!
Looking forward to seeing you in Chicago! We are also rooting for Dilana. I honestly don't think people can judge a person by the one song she wrote and then say she can't write. I like most types of music and there are certain bands that I really like, but they also have some songs that I don't like. So to say Dilana's writing skills are bad, well give her a chance. And after Wednesday, it won't matter! At any rate, looking forward to seeing the HB and TPC!!

I have to say that I pretty much agree with your assessment and your sentiments about all the gossip and conspiracy theories. They sure do get pretty tiresome. It's a tv show. They made the rules - could have had the show any way they wanted it to be - why would they bother messing with it? It is funny - because people are all alike - they get a favorite and no one can compare - if their favorite isn't on top all the time they think that something fishy is going on. Hello!!!! Millions of people watch the show. Millions of people have their own idea on what THEY like. And as you say, the band has the last word. And I think this band has been pretty on the money with what they have done so far. When everyone is fantastic you have to narrow it down to specific things. I think it is going to come down to Lukus and Dilana also - my vote goes with Dilana. Lukas definately has something but I just don't find him consistant nor do I thing he could keep my interest for a two hour show. And I think with the SN, especially Tommy, being almot larger than life that a woman would have a better chance of commanding attention because they are three guys and she is .... obviously.... not. JMO. I've loved Toby's since the beginning also and I wouldn't be disappointed if he won. Magni has just never done it for me.
I loved last year's Rockstar and wasn't sure I was going to like this year - a little to hard rock I thought - but I have really enjoyed it. I am also enjoying the Panic Channel cd and this blog. Keep up the good work.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for all the commentary during Supernova. I'm glad you don't take the conspiracy theorists seroiusly. They are all scrabbling to get their 15 minutes.
I agree with you, Dilana and Lukas would be best for the band. Both compelling. In some ways I think Lukas, being the better songwriter, may be the one for Supernova.
Anyway, thanks again for the fun Dave. I really enjoy reading your blogs and listening to SRL.
Posted by: Trisha at September 12, 2006 12:46 PM
Well I disagee about the band sucking to be honest I thought that this would be the case.I never liked Crue have a lot of respect for Metallica never liked Guns much because of Axl love Slash though. So I didn't expect much.Their stuff on the show hasn't been great although It's On is actually quite good.
But here is the moist rub.Lukas Rossi should already be famous. If you listen to his stuff compared to all the other rockers stuff he is in a completely different league. Some of these other cats have some ok stuff but not a lot of it.One has some really poor stuff.Rossi has a whole catalog of very good stuff.Headspin,I wouldn't even put in his top 5-7 songs that's how good he is.Plus add Butch Walker to the mix and the SuperNova boys and they have potential to write a good album.I don't expect all of those songs we have heard already to make the album.A couple probably will.So the potential is there. What they do with it remains to be seen.
The beauty of the show to me is that it's not really a competition.I would call it a 3 month audition.Lots of stuff could go wrong ala the control alt delete girl.Someone could loose their voice.Someone could walk of the show. There is a ton of pressure on these people.Whatever.
The show is putting a singer on the tv for 3 months that should already be a Rockstar not is becoming one.Same deal with Fortune last year that guy should have already been famous if just for his movie star looks alone you read his blog and he talked a lot about substance abuse. So maybe there is your answer with Fortune. With Rossi I still haven't figured that one out yet how this cat was working at Hooters that just blows my mind.

Re: KeithMoonLives
Around the middle of this show Lukas had 57 songwriting credits with the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency Ltd. (CMRRA)
Now, there's 58 listed. He's added another, so I guess he's being busy writing at the mansion too. Brilliant guy!
Posted by: Outrageous at September 12, 2006 12:56 PM
I don't understand why it's such a big deal. Say it's all predetermined. So what? It's a TV show. A fun TV show. If you are so invested in a TV show that conspiracy theories, etc. are truly affecting your ability to watch said show, perhaps you should step back and get some perspective.
Posted by: liz at September 12, 2006 01:11 PM
Yes, Lukas is interesting to watch, I'll give him that. But that voice! I can't listen to more than a minute or two before I have to hit MUTE. The whole growly/screechy thing is *that* painful to listen to. Moreso than any other rocker I've heard on RS. For some reason, Lukas really sounds like he's physically damaging his vocal cords when he sings.
Too bad--when he opens his throat, I find Lukas very entertaining, with a lovely, engaging singing voice. Unfortunately, though Jason has tried to explain the whole "open throat" thing to him repeatedly, I think Lukas thinks that Lukas knows best.
Personally--just my opinion--I think a lot of Lukas' fans became fans because of songs he did like "Creep"--where he opened his throat and let it just flow--and still, he doesn't get it.
I realize he's got a lot of fans; hey, terrific, God bless. But me, I'll take a pass, thanks.

Dave, wish I would have poked around on your website all season, but I just found it today. Great comments although I dont agree, doesnt mean I think anything differently of you or the show. Magni is the man and should be the one that is picked I think he has all the edge of todays rock. But, maybe you are right you know SN personally so maybe you are more intuned with what they are really wanting. Dilana is good but after one song her voice grinds on me, and I think it would become "DILANA AND supernova are showing tonight" not " THE FUCKING ASS KICKASS SUPERNOVA IS SHOWING TONIGHT" and as far as Lukas goes I didnt know Tommy wanted to go back in time the 1984 ya know back to wearing the make-up and clothes that they did then...ya think what Lukas wore last week on the show was some vintage Nikki Six na na I think maybe it was combo of Billy Idol and who was that lead singer from that one band???? huh ya RAT! I didnt know that was where SN wanted to go! I could have sworn at the beginning of the Summer they said something about New up to date Fresh OOOOOHHHHHH ya and they can sing hmmmmmmmm that would be Magni..... (Toby...catchy song wash the damn make up off Toby you look better with out it come on it is 2006, now sing the BOSS' song "Born in the USA" then sing your song right after it and dance like he did way back then in the video Then start when your done immediately go into your original song and see if anyone starts clapping then, they will probably say wow that sounds kinda familiar Bruce wrote something catchy way back then and now you kassey kasam can play it on the top 40)

Re: how do they predict or air the bottom three rockers on a Sunday taping when we all vote on Tuesday
----------
my understanding is the "early voting" is taken from the in-studio vote. Attendees receive a 8x11 page with the rocker's name/pic. On the way out, everyone is supposed to mark who they like and drop their ballet off at the door when they leave. Those ballets are tabulated and the results are what you see on Tuesday. Brooke actually just stands there, she doesn't actually have any results during the actual taping.
Dave can verify if that's correct. if he wants :-)

Hey there BAD BOY,
Thanks for bringing us 'Rock Star SuperNova' and letting the world see the outstanding talen that Lukas Rossi is...
For him I've created 'LUKAS_LOVERS/HEADSPIN' aka 'THE LUKAS ROSSI WORLD WIDE FAN NETWORK' and I got an e-mail from a guy in the UK who said they're not able to vote over there - what's up with that man? Doesn't seem fair to me...Maybe he's got it wrong but I'd like to clear it up ASAP.
Also wondering how 'LUKAS_LOVERS/HEADSPIN' can get permission to use some of the photos and music from the show on our Website that's soon to be up and running online.
Any help you can offer is much appreciated babe.
Thanks for listnin'
Until next time...
XOXOXOXOX

Re: how do they predict or air the bottom three rockers on a Sunday taping when we all vote on Tuesday
I think that when they tape everything on Sunday and Brook says the bit about the bottom three after the beginning of the voting they just have the screen blank and than when they air the show on Tuesday they superimpose or edit in or whatever they do the three names over top in the corner. Not sure if others have noticed, but at least three times this season when she said they were showing the bottom three after the first few minutes nothing showed on the screen. That really bugged me since it was a part of the show I looked forward too(I like to predict who I think it will be and see if I am right). I didn't know at the time that it was taped on Sunday but it makes sense that the names are just added on to the pre-taped stuff on Tuesday once the voting starts and would account for the days when the names didn't show.
Just my theory.

Comfortably Numb !!! Hey does the fact that Lukas didn't do this song that he wanted cause Dilana always gets her song and then she switched to Roxanne mean that Lukas sings it on the finale?I mean 3 out of 4 singers wanted the song but no one did it.
I think it does and I think I'm stoked.

Wow... quite the sounding board you got here...lol
Well, I just love the show. The whole family just loves it. Thank god for this show my kids are 7 & 9 (boy and a girl) totally digs this rock. My little guy is so cute he's routing for Lukas. We all are! I agree with you the only rockers that can front Supernova is either Lukas or Dilana. It is so obvious. I grew up in the 70s and 80s and totally get it. All the rockers were great singers but there were only two who were right for the band. Your comments are right on. Tonight is the final episode and can't wait to see who it will be. You totally rock Dave and the reason why I keep watching the show. Love ya. Patricia

Quoting Dave:
"Even though Toby and Magni are arguably better singers in some ways, there are certain elements (edge or rather, superficial elements) that I think they lack in order to fill the position. "
Of course! We would expect this need for these "certain elements" coming from a guy with BOTH of his nipples pierced! AND HONESTLY, I MEAN THAT IN A LOVING WAY, I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST IT. I agree with you on Magni but Toby has more in that "certain element" department, enough for the majority of the population.
Better voice is important for most in the recorded music department. Superficial elements such as make-up, facial mutilation (excessive piercings) or outdated multicolored hair extensions are not necessary for live gigs when it come to talent for most.

Er, in my opinion - IMAGE is an integral part of that band, fronting a band is not just about singing it's all about representation and when I go see a band I want to be floored, awed and rocked out. I want to come away blown away. Besides which pierced nipples very sexy... :) Toby would definitely benefit from a trip to the metal work factory!
Am really looking forwards to 6767 without RS SN but it's been fun to read and engage with. Dave I want to ask what made you get up on stage with Storm and why then and why her? Is it cos of the track? We saw you play S. City in the RHCP at Brixton Academy October 1995 so thought it could be that.
Have a WONDERFUL week off!

The reason I like Lukas so much is because when I watch him perform I am watching a rock star, not someone acting like a rock star. He gets lost in the moment and really feels the music. There is nothing cheesy or karaoke about is performances. Even when he is doing a cover I feel like it is his song. He is brilliant and I am shocked with all the crap that is on the radio this guy is not famous.

Dave,
I may have missed the point of the gossip columnist's note but, I don't think so. I seem to recall one reality episode where they said that all remaining contestants would have their photos taken with the band (separately). Could this be what this gossip columnist is seeing? If so, she hasn't done her homework - not very professional in a columnist.

Lukas is the best choice, he's already a rockstar.
I laugh at those people who think that Lukas' fans are all teeny boppers. I'm 38 years old and I haven't felt this way about a musician in 20 years!

You said: "In fact, I think that entertainment critics should be obligated to have their picture and a list of their top 5 favorite films, book and records made available. That way, we can decide if we even give a fuck where they are coming from."
Oh my God, I can't agree enough. Critics are often the last people we should be listening to. If they could do more than criticize, they'd be doing something meaningful with their lives!
But even worse than critics who just criticize what they don't really know much about, are artists and musicians who criticize their peers.
Nothing but artistic cannibals! Ph-tui I say!
Phew. Okay, Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Such words of wisdom that you need to post them TWICE??? Must have taken you all of your lunch break to come out with this gem...
Well, since Dave's busy tonight, hosting that show he taped on Sunday (you might have a problem understanding this one), allow me to retort:
"Sir, please engage in the suction of my scrotum"
What's the matter with you, buddy? Got no friends? Got kicked out of www.redlobster.com, and found this blog on the rebound?
BTW, found your picture on this site:

Hey Dave,
I definately think you're right that this will come down to Lukas and Dilana but in the end I think the gig should go to Lukas....you look at the last couple of bands with female lead singers and they are basically ditching their bands for a solo career look at No Doubt which has their lead singer doing their own thing which I respect but at the same time kind of leaving their band up in the air because of the success.. I don't think Supernova would want that and I feel Dilana would do that to them in the long run...

Dave,
Thanks for the show and the site.
I agree with you on the Lukas or Dilana being the top two. AND I'll add that Lukas is the only serious option. But what is not to like about Toby or Magni too.
Another blogger put it best... "Toby makes me smile but Lukas makes me feel"
Love that.

No, no, not Australia! You want to come to Alaska and go river rafting and ride the Tram up the mountain for a spectacular view and ... and .. hike the glacier, cool stuff like that! :) I'll even throw in one of my mother's homecooked meals, just for you, and her special home-baked cookies, heheh.
Although I did not realize this blog existed until Supernova (I missed the INXS set last year), I cannot now imagine not visiting this site and listening to your radio program even once Rockstar is done for the season. I read back on your old blogs and you make it fun, entertaining, and insightful to read. Plus, you can rebut all the tabloid idiocy! (Bleh, I only scan the tabloid 'headlines' so that I can smirk and roll my eyes anyway.)
So has a band been chosen for Rockstar next season, and if so, can you hint to us at ALL about it? *EG* A new 'supergroup' pieced from remnants of established bands? A brand-new band of unknowns to gain international exposure from the show? A band who has lost their singer in some way and are now seeking a replacement? C'mon, one little hint! hahah
Keep rockin', stay as true to yourself as you've always been. You inspire me to keep up on my own blog, though I may be the only person who reads it!

Still have my fingers crossed that Toby 'Beautiful Ass' Rand gets the job! He's got it all. Vocals, energy, 'coping with pressure' skills, a beautiful ass, songwriting talent, etc., etc., etc.
Dilana is my second pick because her voice rocks and she has a beautiful face albeit no ass to speak of.
Magni is #3. He is, quite simply, one of the coolest guys on the planet -- with a nice ass -- and if Toby and Dilana weren't already 'coolness personified' he would be my #1.
Lukas is last in my book solely because I hate his particular brand of Canadian accent. It grates on my nerves like a sore tooth. Sorry, Canucks! (By the way, does Lukas even have an ass? It's hard to tell behind all those Sgt. Pepper's blazers and long t-shirts. I keed!)
Will desperately miss seeing Dave on a weekly basis, but have hope that next summer he will be back with us. Has Fuel found a lead singer yet?
Posted by: ALP IN FL at September 12, 2006 04:11 PM
ALP IN FL
"Lukas is last in my book solely because I hate his particular brand of Canadian accent."
Lukas does not have a "Canadian" accent. There's no such thing. Canada is such a multi-cultural pluralistic society with everyone from such differing backgrounds that there is no way to typecast people as having a "Canadian" accent.
Lukas comes from an Italian background and that, mixed with english, is what you are hearing as his accent.
PS: I checked out his ass, not bad at all, rather cute IMO

Dave,
You said, "Lukas and Dilana have the best shots at winning this thing. I think they are both unique and edgy with killer voices and could both do the job extremely well." That makes me so happy cause I've said that since week 2. If they want a guy - it will be Lukas; if they want a girl - it will be Dilana. I wish they were singing a different original song. I really liked the ones last week; but it would be nice to hear new ones. I'm actually really sad it's all coming to an end.

Hello David
This has been amazing seson of Rockstar and I just wanted to say thank you for your part:)
Personally I really don't care who wins. They have all come this far, so to me everyone is a winner. I meen, it's not like the world ends if you'll not be the lead singer of Supernova (wich btw TO ME dosnt sound like it's gonna last for long, sadly. I would give them 3-10 months.. I meen, how many songs have you heard by INXS after the first seson? I've heard 2.), if you work hard you can record and release a CD and most likely people will buy it. Winner? I would say so, yes.
As for this Janet or whatever her name is, ..uhm.. oh I'm not gonna say anything else than you are a stupid lady.
Anywhore, look forward tonigths show, and tomorrows ofcourse;)

Hey you
I´ll have to agree with you on the differences between Magni, Toby and Dilana, they couldnt be more different ! I think Dilana or Lucas would be the best choice for Supernova! I think Lucas is more clever than he looks and he is holding a litle back!
Dilana is a great performer but is she the one for supernova? I thought so at first but I´ve changed my mind!
Magni should perform and travel with the housband ! NOW THAT WOULD BE good team! He is a great performer and an awesome singer!

may i suggest vacation spots: Sausalito: walk the wharf, chat, visit art gallerys, dinner. Or Mendocino: beautiful and secluded ocean views, place to mediate and reflect on all the good things coming your way! Be strong, healty and happy.

It was a fun show to watch this summer – and you and Brooke were great hosts. Enjoy your quick wit on the blog and the SRL shows. You remind me of a TV personality from the past - and you gave me an idea for a TV show I would like to see. Good luck with the finale. Looking forward to the show tonight.

Remember in the beginning how the three stooges were commenting on “SONG SELECTION. Well here is the answer they knew all along, what a bunch of liars.
That includes you too Navarro although I will say in the last two weeks Navarro has lamely attempted to come clean indirectly in his SRL show but not completely.
Anyway what should I expect from a three times divorced man, honesty? Here is the story.
sinp: NEWSTED: “[Song selection] is incredibly limited because everything has to be licensed, approved and purchased, says Newsted. “If I was looking for a theme song for the show, I would have wanted to have It’s A Long Way to the Top, AC-DC. But it was $350,000.

Because I didn't comment last time, I'll do it now. As far as the whole KHZ "are they dating" thing goes, Forget about it. But I'm sure you already know that. I like how you're handling it though, especially for Raiana's band. All the power to ya.
