Hey Dave
i dont know if you will read this as seeing you have so many comments and posts already but i attend Quinnipiac University in conneticut and am i huge fan of the Panic Channel. i saw you guys with my girlfriend at the Avalon because i live on Long Island. the show was amazing and you guys are my favorite band because you guys interacted with me i mean i caught Steve's pick that he threw out into the audience and shook yours and Steve's hand an that was a dream come true because ur my major guitar influence.
anyway i am getting off point, my point is that i have my own radio show at Quinnipiac and am looking so foward to spreading the Panic throughout the campus. i am also going to be in promotions and i know you guys might be going on tour so what i was thinkin is that if you guys come to NY of course i will see you but if you wouldnt mind comming maybe into the station to do an interview or if i could meet you guys in the city and condut an interview after your next NYC show. my email is jonathan.fast@quinnipiac.edu or nirvanakid12@hotmail.com
i dont know if you will read this seeing you have so many posts but i would like to thank you for your time. you guys rock
much love

I love me some Teahouse, but I've already got the album. Bought CF's 'Surrender' off iTunes this morning....good stuff. SN is playing two shows in my general area (Sacto and Oakland,) so I get to see you guys two days in a row. It's gonna be a good time for all of the Bay Area Agents!
Are you guys gonna maybe hit up a couple club spots before January, Dave? You see, I'm selfish and spoiled and want TPC in a small venue too. hahaha
Love you Dave and Fam...have a great rest of your day. ~Amber

Hi Dave,
WOW Storm rocked and I am so sad to see her go. You two had incredible energy and chemistry on stage - it was a pleasure to watch. I have been a huge Dialna and Lucas fan until the last show. Toby and Storm blew me away. I was SO impressed with their individual songs - I cannot wait to buy their records. Magni - is Magni.. very talented and entertaining. What is going on with Lucas and Dilana? Is it just me or are they slipping. I wasn't impressed with their performances. Living On A Prayer - I thought was HORRIBLE and I couldn't understand what he was singing in his You Make My Head Spin. Dilana insulted her fans one minute and then embraced them the next - too much drama there I think for Gilby and the boys of SN.
Thank you for taking the time to interact with your fans on 6767.com and Spread Radio LIVE - I look forwarding to reading your comments everyday!
Have a good one!

All I can say is Supernova must be damn insecure with themselves. Seems like they just can't handle someone who might outshine them!

Yay, a new single! I have the CD though so technically I've already bought it. And thank you for closing the insanity that was the 680-some comments below.
And can I make an appeal for you to hit Hershey, PA on a future tour? Come on, it's the sweetest place on earth : )

Posted by: Gina at September 7, 2006 12:24 PM
Hey, Dave! Still haven't bought your cd but that doesn't mean I won't, just have to find some funds, what with concert season approaching...
I'm sorry I missed the opportunity to vent. Can I do so now? Thanks.
First, I don't like the picture of the vent you showed. It's a rather generic, bland looking vent, don't you think? I prefer vents with a little more personality, something unique and original. I like brass vents, they add a bit of old world class unless you prefer the more modern version. Then there are the wooden vents but I always get confused as to what wood would be the best and whether or not I want a dark stain or a more natural finish. And, of course, there are ceiling vents but they are just nasty because they dump all kinds of junk on your head when you open them up. So if I had to pick a vent, I would pick something with a bit of class, originality and one befitting of the decor.
Sad to see there is only one week left until the end of the show. I'll miss seeing you in my living room. But all things must end, eh? And with any luck I'll see you at the Supernova show, only you won't see me because I will just be one face in an ocean of faces.
So cheers to you, Dave, (raises beer glass). And I shall be interested to hear what you have to say once RS: SN is over.

WHY DOES LUKAS ROSSI HAVE A WEB SITE THAT LOOKS LIKE HE ALREADY WON?
GO TO WWW.LUKAS-ROSSI.NET
I REALLY HOPE THE RUMORS ARE NOT TRUE THAT THE CHOICE HAS ALREADY BEEN MADE. I AM TRYING NOT TO BELIEVE IT. BUT YOU CAN BUY TICKETS FOR THE SUPERNOVA SHOWS ON THIS SITE OR AT LEAST THEY ARE ADVERTISED ON THE SITE. WHY? THIS IS NOT LOOKING GOOD AT ALL. DAVE PLEASE TELL ME THIS SHIT IS ALL BULL.

Hey Dave,
I am really surprised by the comments that Lukas can't sing or that people can't hear him. I just don't understand it. Am I watching a different show. I have no problem at all. I LOVE his voice and his music. Anyone who is a fan of his knows that when he growls or mumbles, ITS ON PURPOSE. He has an amazing range and he has displayed it several times over the season.
The guy is absolutely the best thing that has happened to the music industry in years. He mesmerizes me. The other Rockers are talented but they don't even come to close to his caliber.
I have his original music and I listen to it all the time. Its memorable and intense. And his voice is as clear as daylight.
I think Lukas was smart to play Headspin for his b3 performance. Last song of the night, gets to do an original to an international audience 2 nights in a row. The song sticks. I was singing Headspin all night and not 'uh oh uh oh oh oh".
My dream concert: SN + Lukas and TPC! I will SO be there!

I don't get it. I realize elimination is difficult at this point...but WTF? I enjoy listening to and watching Dilana but I don't know if I could listen to her through an entire CD. For how long can you ride on your credit. How many screwups is this credit good for? And while there really is no perfect fit here, to me Storm has much better stage presence and band chemistry than Magni(lovely voice)does. And Toby? I'm liking him more and more. I would give Lukas a vote if I could decipher his mumbling. Storm should have stayed.

Hi Dave - I have the CD for a few weeks now and it's on my ipod as I want to keep it close to me. For me it's been a while since I got into new music as I have a 3 1/2 year old who keeps me busy and time goes so quick these days. So your cd and the stuff on supernova has been great (whatever anyone says about the show it made me happy!) I find (ONe)truly inspiring and for some reason it also helped me though a recent period of darkness. Sometimes music can do that you know. I know I've posted some silly comments on here so I sorry if I offended anyone. I'm just not so good on the web based social skills I guess.
Thank you.

Hey All:
You're all forgetting that Rockstar Supernova is a TV show masquerading as a rock band. Sort of like the Monkees of 2006. I am old rocker that has been enjoying the show, and I'm not vested in any of the 'contestants', but I have my opinions.
1)The SN songs suck. In the end, the songs are
going to have to stand on their own, and right
now, they don't.
2)SN needs a lead guitar player. Gilby does not,
cannot, and will not play lead guitar. Maybe
Magni or Dave can fill that role.
3)The House Band kicks SN in the ass every
night. I guarantee that whoever the House Band
will back on the tour will sound better than
SN.
I still enjoy watching the TV show because that's all that it really is. SN is just a virtual band.
Posted by: Zot at September 7, 2006 01:59 PM
I'm kind of disappointed that the tour was just announced... now all the seats that are going to be left (if any at all) are going to be nosebleeds. I hope TPC are touring the US before those dates so I can see you in a nonsurreal way (I don't know any other way to put it, but far away seats feel like you're watching a tv or something)
Posted by: The Ren at September 7, 2006 02:01 PM
Dave -
When listening to you answer the question about why you like doing the show, I loved what you had to say about the (sad) state of current "hit" music in your video on the RS:SN site. It's so true! That's why we appreciate the work you & Panic Channel, Supernova, and RS: SN are doing. It's always so inspiring to (finally) hear something really rockin' and/or innovative in a musical sea of banality and sameness.
Ciao!
Kim

Hey Dave, I am a fan of Rock Star for you. Though I do enjoy the rest of the show, but you make it!! I have a hard time picturing this new band "SuperNova", the 3 hard rockers seem to have gone soft. I am fans of them all but come on I am just not feeling their songs. And what was up with Jason crying?? I love Pink Floyd, but that was deep. As I am CANADIAN I am cheering for Lukas, but gotta say Toby has turned my head recently. Do you think 2 CANADIANS can do it in a row?
Jut got your book "Don't Try This at Home" for my 16 year old (she is in love with you). Man the life you have led.
Keep on rockin hard Panic Channel Rulz. I sure hope you are coming to Victoria BC. We have a new Stadium and I know you guys would just rock it. Victoria will be watching for you.

Checked out the SN tour dates since it now sounds like something I'd like to attend -what with your band playing and all now. I was "absolutely stunned" there are no Atlanta dates (or anywhere close)! I'm going to have faith and believe there's no reason to panic because those just haven't been added yet and when they are you will still be part of the tour(?).
Best,
Cheryl
P.S. I will miss Storm.

SRL Vixen, Teresa, looks like a tranny.
I think you can do better than that next month, dude.
Posted by: Seeker at September 7, 2006 02:43 PM
I think the sad state of popular music today has something to do with the fact that at one time you could have fallen out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down and be a rock musician because your status was based on your talent. There were good writers and good performers, some could jam on the same song for half an hour and it was all good.
Now we've got all kinds of electronic goodies to make people sound better than they actually are and the most important thing is how you look. And that can even be manipulated with photo shop.
This is what happens when you have an industry that cares more about the product than it does about the people that are buying the product. IMHO
Posted by: Tammy at September 7, 2006 02:44 PM
SuperNova is like watching a soap opera, at times. I don't understand why the producers of the show are targeting specific individuals but I've decided to stop watching the webisodes, way too much drama.
Rock-N-Roll wise, these are my picks:
Dilana - hands down, my favorite, she's seriously entertaining to watch
Magni - he's dynamic but I don't enjoy him live - - he doesn't grab my attention
Lukas - he mumbles and likes to walk around like Mick Jagger but he's entertaining
Toby - I don't like him, he reminds me of so many other singers, nothing dynamic
Posted by: Gail at September 7, 2006 02:52 PM
too cool that the TPC will be joing the SN tour, I am hoping that you will be coming to the Maritimes (Halifax!!!!) we maybe smaller than Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal but look at this way, you'll get New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, plus the Americans in up state NY...there will be a big enough crowd so please do not over look us, though I am sure you may have little or no influence in this dept.
but hell , you come I will put you all up in my one bdrm apt..ha! just kidding the hotel's are a lot better though your welcome to come over...rofl, I'd die...lol yeah Dave knocking on my door OMG what a hoot to dream!

TOUR QUESTION:
Originally, you guys said you were doing a "fall" tour after RS wraps up. Since the Supernova tour doesn't start until New Years Eve, I'm wondering if you're planning to go on the road earlier with another band first that hasn't yet been announced, or did you just decide to wait a few more months before starting?

Dave - I hope you can post about or talk about on the next SRL show about the tour. I think a lot of us would like to know the reasons why TPC decided to tour with Supernova, and if there will be a small club tour still this fall with a different band. I already said this in another post, but I just can't justify paying the Supernova ticket price and driving 8 hours to the nearest venue, when I only want to see TPC. Plus I was looking forward to that intimate venue tour this fall that you talked about in multiple interviews.
I seem to be one of the few I guess disappointed that TPC and SN are touring together. Although there are others disappointed posting on the TPC site. (Give poor Steve something to read people!) Here's something I don't get - the majority of 67-posters here have hated the SN songs, including me, but now the majority of posters are thrilled about TPC and SN touring together. That doesn't add up. EVS!
Jezzi - I do read just about every post here. When I went to bed around 3:00 AM MST last night, there were close to 400 posts. I agree it is nice when there is interaction and conversation - and not just 600 different posts that having nothing to do with one another.

Wow Dave just viewed last night's RS: SN ... I didn't think this show would EVER evoke so much emotion ... This was more than a rock show, this is a human being show and to watch this particular episode was just AMAZING ... God, there's been soooo much emotion in the last couple weeks and I like many was really sad to see Storm leave, not because she's perfect for them but because she seemed to be such a key player in both the household and ALSO her professional support of this entire venue ... She really appeared to be the "glue" that kept everyone together ... AND YOU in your amazing and generous way, as always, supporting her at the very end, with Tommy, Jason and Gilby chiming in ... As I said, this has become a "how to be a 'human being' show" not just a rock star!!!
Way to Go!! ... :)

I haven't any trouble understanding Lukas, and I have a hearing problem. Go figure. I think Lukas is the man that no one can beat, and we are all crazy for his original song. I also loved how thrilled he looked for Toby when Toby won the Honda. Lukas has the kind of confidence, charisma, talent and adaptability the band needs.

LOL ;-) ) Thanks for letting folks have their say at your blog. :-) I have not yet technologically succumbed to the point of purchasing an iPod. But if/when I do, I’ll be purchasing iTunes I’m sure. Until then, I’ll just wear out my TPC CD. ;-) Again, I’m beside myself with joy at the prospect of getting to see TPC on tour with SN. (Go Lukas! :-) ). I guess this means all the gals in and around Vancouver should start scoping out great late night coffee shops and soup joints for you lads. LOL We’ll make sure you’re covered. ;-) I don’t suppose Todd’s family would let you bring him along as part of your entourage? LOL Can’t get away with telling them you’re going out for soup… in Vancouver. *wink*

Wow, I can't remember exactly what time I posted last night, but there were only 150 posts then. Ended up with 650? Definitely an all time record!
I received an e-mail from TPC that said watch them on last call with Carson Daly. There was no date, so when is it?

Lukas singing headspin again? Hmmm? I have a feeling that the only reason he sang that song was because he was too confident being at the top. All this time I wanted to see him in the bottom 3 so that I could see what song choice he would have on his own without the producers laying them out but what does he do? Sings the same bullshit from the previous night. What a bitch! Talk about not having any balls in singing another song other than his own. PATHETIC I must say....
(Sorry but I missed out on the previous blog and aahhh, I feel much better now that I got that off my chest)

I'm a Storm fan, and I've lost interest in the show from here on. I think Storm would have stolen the show. Maybe that's what they couldn't deal with. She's TOO polished and professional.
But if Brooke lied about the red-carpet scene being shot last night (I know for a fact it was taped last Thursday or Friday, I can't remember, and I know the Wednesday show is taped in the morning), what else are we being lied to about? That there hasn't already been a decision made, and what we're seeing is just the product of a television production? That the votes didn't really matter and weren't counted? I know I must have voted 400 times Tuesday night, and there were many others in Storm Nation that voted constantly for the full four hours. Hard to believe that wasn't enough. I just don't trust it anymore. It smells as though the original two darlings, Lukas and Dilana, were given a free pass because it was already predestined to happen that way.

I think letting Storm go was a big mistake. The girl's got such great legs! And great potential. I think she can bring it on home. I love Dilana but she really sounds the same-same. I hope SN is taking personality into consideration when they make their final choice. Maybe they just really do want it to be a guy band.

Posted by: Victoria at September 7, 2006 03:51 PM
Funny, since Storm's band is the Balls.
If this show isn't a set-up, how do you explain her being sent home right after performing the "best original in either season"?
There is no way you will ever get me to believe that Lukas or Dilana outperformed Storm on Wednesday night. Frankly, I thought Dilana slaughtered the song by one of my favorite bands, which incidentally is NOT a punk band. Her demise has been monumental, but she makes great TV. So it really isn't about quality at all. It's about "good" TV. I'm so sick of Mark Burnett shows that I'll earl the next time I see one.
Posted by: Planet Bass at September 7, 2006 03:57 PM
Lukas has tremendous potential, but he's still very raw. He might hold out through a 28-city tour, but he really needs to take an acting class as well as voice lessons. Those would teach him about such things as upstaging himself (turning his back to the audience) and opening up the way Jason has been on him to do. He still sounds like he's straining when he hits the higher register, and that concerns me at his age. If he blows his voice out, it will never reach its potential.
Posted by: Planet Bass at September 7, 2006 04:07 PM
Dave......U rock. Hope your night was a good one. Storm Large really blew me away!!! I hope u do a few licks for her and Tommy on drum's. That would be like nothing out there right now. The 3 of u are so unique and would fucking rock together. My husband and I can't wait 2 see u live!!!!

If you were a musician who only wrote and performed your own original music and never had a cover tune in your own concerts what would you pick to possibly go out of a show on. I think, like Lukas, you would pimp your own tunes. To perform an original song twice on national television is great exposure for your sound and your band back home. The rockers are not allowed to perform an unrehearsed original so that left out a new song. His only other choice was a cover he had already covered. Lukas was smart and sang his own music again.

Hi Dave,
I'm an old hippy and been to a few too many concerts as my hearing isn't great anymore. But....I still know great music when I hear it and crap when I hear it. TPC is great stuff!!!!!
The SN stuff I've heard so far is pure crap. I like Gilby but he can't hold a candle to you on his best day. Nice move on their part to sign you and TPC to try to pull their tour out of the tank. Here's the deal, I wouldn't walk across the street to see SN. I would fly across the country to see The House Band and TPC. What SN really needs is a lead singer who can play lead guitar and write some decent tunes. That's a tall order for anyone to fill. I pity the poor fool who wins this and signs a deal with them.they'd be signing their own career death certificate. Nuff said. Thank you for this site, the RS show, and SRL. You are a Genius.

I know you are sad to see Storm go. Me too. I am going to miss those beautiful sparkly eyes. She is a Total Rock Chic Package and she needs to be the one who decides who is in HER band, not the other way around! She's a star now, she's not going anywhere!
TPC is still rocking my world! I am so hoping you guys are going to come play somewhere,
anywhere near Southwest Florida. I'll be keeping up!!!!!! P.S. Maybe there will be a Storm somewhere in the tour!

Sharon Roberts,
"She is a Total Rock Chic Package and she needs to be the one who decides who is in HER band..."
If she had it that way she wouldn't be on RS:SN in the first place. Easier said than done.

OFF TOPIC...
I just got my Reality on a Finer Scale CD by kHz in the mail. What a great freakin' deal! You get an autographed thank you note some postcards and a KICK ASS Enhanced CD. Thank you so much for introducing me to this awesome band Dave. I owe ya!

HEY DAVE; I'm an itunes fiend and I bought the entire cd as soon as it came out... fucking LOVE it, and I'm one of those ultra opinionated picky mofos. Great guitar work, as usual, with extra finesse and feel and restraint and emotion in the solos... and a perfect blend of aggression and melody delivered by a very talented singer.
Cheers! See you in Toronto when you spank Supernova.

I think it is a good thing that you have a different opinion from the group of rockstars such a INXS and Supernova. Your opinion counts for the keeping an open mind portion of folks.
By having a different opinion, at times, you help those bands prevent themselves from falling into a cliche'. You force them to think outside the mold and maybe help their band stay fresh and with the times.
Consider this... as good as Lukas is... wouldn't he be better off to form his own band from the publicity. He is too young to get hooked up with the members of Supernova, who most likely will lose interest in their own band quite quickly and move on to other music ventures. It would be quite a letdown for a great talent to invest all their committment to a band such a this that has been there, done that and wont stick it out with that talent.
Perhaps a Toby or Magni would be better because they would be content to have a short-lived run with a band like this and then go back home and live off the fame.
Perhaps Dilana who seems like this might be her last hope at fame and music stardom would be better off with a short lived career.
Keep your fresh thinking Dave... your music and your experience in todays music world is far more relevant that some guys who were once infamous 20 years ago. Don't get me wrong!! I love and respect each one of them for what they did for my generation of music... but they shouldn't take some young fresh star and dash their hopes within a year.
Posted by: Marilyn at September 7, 2006 05:00 PM
T'was either Headspin or a cover and Lukas doesn't like those. Dude gave himself an encore! F'n rocked it!! Wouldn't have mattered anyhow; he's not going anywhere.
All you dissin' are just feeding on each other; saying the same shit over and over and everywhere. Cut and paste; you are all as unoriginal and boring as Mr. Rand. Get over it. Mumbles, mumbles, garbles, can't understand a word ... I couldn't understand much or what Toby or Magni were singing last night but who cares.
The guy is clearly speaking english. Yep we do so in Canada; where not everyone votes like blind sheep for the only canuck in any competition; so don't blame us. Lukas has great fans because we believe in him and get up off our couches and go and listen to him. You can pass judgement all you like based on what you hear and see on TV but don't be spouting like you know all there is to know about what he can and cannot do if you don't.

What a waste, they obviously made these choices months ago. Who got drunk at made fools of themselves at "Vegas clinic"? Toby and Lukas. Who bombed and plagiarized during the first writing clinic? Dilana. Who bombed the 2nd writing clinic? Dilana and Magni. Who bombed the interview cllinic? Dilana. Who has done the worst two elimination performances all season? Dilana. Who is left? Those four, so why bother with the ruminations of pretending to be a contest up until now?
Storm Large has owned that show the past few weeks and I'm leaving with her. Rock on Dave!

"Why is Lukas often considered too young when he is apparently older than both Magni and Toby."
Who knows, maybe those posters don't know how to read? According to their bios, Dilana is the oldest at 34(she did make a point of telling us all it had been her birthday eh?), Lukas is 29 and unless Toby hasn't had his birthday yet this year he's 29 too, and Magni is the youngest at 28.

OH GREAT DARK ONe...I certainly missed laughing at some of the 600 and some odd posts you got to go through!! I know you weren't lonely reading those with all the love they hold.~wicked giggle~
O'Dark One, the fans have spoken...twice... Regardless of what the internet boards say, Toby and Magni are the fan favorites...just because we don't gush and pawn and fill the threads with the OMG!!! posts, like the posters taking massive doses of Prozac and Premarin, doesn't mean that those boys don't have a MASSIVE fan base. I can only hope that the boys in the band notice this and that they actually CARE what the biggest part of the fans want. We do buy the cd's.
At this point in the game, regardless of being a huge Magni fan...I feel that Toby is the best for Supernova...I think he could handle T.Lee the best out of all of them...(would love a tongue action picture of them!!)

Something major occurred to me as I watched Storm and Dave on stage; friggin wonderful chemistry; the chemistry that was apparent between Storm and Dave has not yet been apparent with SuperNova and any of the contestants! Granted at this point, any of the contestants have the talent to front this band; but I hate to say this, but I haven't seen it "click" yet. Not for me. So my question to you Dave, does SuperNova have to pick someone or can they try another batch of contestants; are they allowed to say sorry, can't find one that we like, let's try it again. Please don't take this wrong, as I like all the remaining contestants and favor Lucas/Dilana/Toby/Magni (in that particular order), but I am just commenting that I haven't gotten any "chills" like Tommy Lee likes to say, when any of the contestants have played with the band.

Hi Dave, Since you're a fan of the cinema.....
I just want to let you know that the Toronto Film Festival started today. It becomes Hollywood North at this time of year, with celebrity sightings all over the city for a couple of weeks.
BTW - I heard the Camp Freddy version of Surrender on yesterdays SRL and I was blown away !
> Which got me thinking.
I can soooooo see Camp Freddy in Toronto during this Film Fesival raising the roof off at some exclusive parties (right on the heels of the Rockstar SN finale-adrenaline rush !!)
And since Camp Freddy also raises money for some amazing charities, I'm sure the proceeds from the event could be quite impressive.
And, given a choice, I'm sure everyone would prefer attending and listening to some live, rockin, music covered by Camp Freddy (and probably many surprise guest performers) , rather than just shmoozing at a typical, cliche, celeb party.
Joanna(T.O)
(trying to somehow get you back to Toronto before TPC's January tour with SN :)

Forgot to ask before, but how many times has T. Lee showed up on performance night hungover or stoned now? I count twice he has been noticeably fucked up and it's getting kind of annoying. Dayum, be a fucking professional for television at least! ;)
Thank god Jason and Dave always seem to show up alert and ready to go. Gilby...well, Gilby it's kinda hard to say. He's looked extremely "tired" a couple of times, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Posted by: ALP IN FL at September 7, 2006 06:25 PM
Hey Dave,
I know your comments are closed from last night but I didn't come here to vent.
I am from Montreal and a huge Voivod fan, many people at the office who don't really know Voivod were asking why Jason was crying.
I answered out of speculation but I had a feeling that it had to do with Piggy's one year anniversery and the fact that he was a huge Pink Floyd fan.
Somehow I think he and Jason probably rocked out that tune on an occasion or two.
Tell Jason, he is loved and admired in Montreal Canada and we look forward to seeing him back here soon.
Posted by: Voivod FAN at September 7, 2006 06:29 PM
Lukas is my pick. He has that special edge to him. All the other rockers are good...but he stands out above the rest.

Ya know what I find hilarious? Everyone is saying we should forget all the Dilana drama, I for one am really getting sick of it.
But the only person who won't forget it is DILANA!
You may notice that she brings it up every week!!
She complains hows shes the underdog, how everyone hates her. She sings song that she feels "descibes what shes going through" How shes the bad guy.
FORGET IT Dilana!! She brings it up every week, and we are trying to forget it.

Hey Dave,
Finally! You went onstage and rocked the mutha effin' show. I was stoked that you finally got your guitar out and I think it's great that you post on here, giving your opinion on the performances and all. I think I can say on behalf of everybody on here that we highly appreciate it. It's one thing to watch the show, but to get someone who's been wrapped up in the music industry to relay to the fans, that's wicked sweet.
Ahh, I'll stop with the sappy shit now.
Thanks dude. Oh, and even though I'm young, I'll still use a lighter instead of a damn cell phone.

I think Lukas showed a lot of savvy when he sang Head Spin again. The more I hear it; the more I feel it. That's what I love about good rock, it makes you think, empathise and reaches to a heterogenous group, and I love it when it’s raw emotion. It makes you feel alive and inspired. Rock on Lukas! BTW I too have a mild hearing problem in one ear, and I have no problem with his enunciation. He’s an artist with such an unique style. He sometimes growls, sometimes releases words with such emotion, almost likes every sound is an adjective, that you strain to listen and understand the swirling emotion he exudes. He is an experience most won’t forget.
Posted by: Serenityelf at September 7, 2006 07:07 PM
I love Lukas work with his band Clevage...but I still cant understand what he is singing when he sings live. I think he has a unique sound but I dont think it would mesh with Supernova.
Go Dilana!
Posted by: Marc at September 7, 2006 07:12 PM
I agree with an earlier observation. SN must be feelin' very insecure...its been obvious for a while now, ever since their originals have received mediocre reviews. Storm outshines them, no doubt about it. Someone like Lucas would be easy to break in to the business and not steal their thunder.
Posted by: kimba at September 7, 2006 07:15 PM

Since ya didn't specifiy on who we can bring back for the last shows encore.....I'd like to see Marty Casey back....is that possible???
Posted by: Tortuga69 at September 7, 2006 07:26 PM
Dave, you RAWK! Panic Channel is amazing, the show is better than ever, and you kicked arse with Storm on stage. Lukas is definitely THE only option for SN. There's only one problem. A LOT of us here in NASHVILLE love all of you guys and we're really jonesing for you to play somewhere near here. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE work your magic & get a concert dated added in Nashville or Atlanta. Contrary to popular belief, we are a very hot town. You won't be disappointed.
PRETTY PLEASE WITH ALL KINDS OF SUGAR ON IT????
Posted by: Liberal Panda at September 7, 2006 07:39 PM
Dave, I apologize, as my vent is a little late...here it is.
I think SN never wanted a woman to front their band. Dilana was totally unexpected. She rocked every week, she became popular very quickly and that could not go on because how would they be able to explain why she was not chosen. So, commencing with the press clinic, the sabotage started and continued… Did anyone notice that she was awesome with her performance of Mother, Mother but did not get the encore? Never, have they acknowledged the voting snafu that shut out the East Coast for almost an hour and was slow thereafter which gave her the first trip to the bottom 3. On Tuesday night 09/05, Storm’s original, Ladylike, was the best by far but did she get the encore? No, she didn’t. “Uh, oh, oh… whatever that was got it. I’m sorry but I would have to be really drunk to start singing that song. Sorry Toby fans, nothing personal.
I thought Lukas was both fan smart and business smart by giving himself an encore with his elimination performance when he chose to do Headspin again. I am a Dilana fan and will continue to be one. Lost interest in SN.
Posted by: LD at September 7, 2006 07:41 PM
Lukas is my pick all the way. Anyone who can take a song like LOAP and make it sound like Jeff Buckley and actually have those simple lyrics have feeling is a great artist. My problem is I hate all the SN song so far, not sure I could buy their CD even though I love Lukas. Now a CD of Lukas originals I could buy. And I love that SN has thrown in the House Band and Panic Channel, now I will be buying tickets for that show.

Okay, so we ask ourself....
Who has that edge to him to front SN?
Who will not fade behind TLee?
Who can write songs?
Who can sing?
Who - no matter if you like or hate the person - will make you say - they are a performer?
Lukas is the answer to all this.

When I think SN...I think sexy TLee with no shirt, Gilby - hair hanging in eyes and looking down at his keys, Jason - with that relax look on his face clapping his hands in the hair and Lukas with his badass hair and clothes. I think both Toby and Magni would fad - Toby is great when he runs around the crowd - but come on - how many times can he do that during a concernt. Magni a bore on stage. Dilana -Good voice but would be suicide for the boys now with everyone not caring for her (plus she is not the right fit). The guys need a front man with a bite. with that something special that make a person that just bought a $60 ticket go Wow that was awesome. LUKAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rockstar: Supernova
Category: Blogging
Lately I have been following the TV show Rockstar: Supernova due to the sheer fact that my former student Lukas Rossi is in this competition. Having taught in Toronto for the last 27 years, I have been promoting my very unique and revolutionary (and now trademarked) technique called Vocal Science. This method suggests that a singer who drops his jaw down is automatically setting the stage for vocal problems down the road. The fact is that the average person with a small, medium, large or even extra large vocal box cannot afford to drown their voice inside of that vocal box. There are two quite fragile vocal chords located in the bottom of the vocal box and, if those vocal chords are constantly triggered, they will become dry and promote some kind of a growth on them, ie. polyps, nodules, etc. Id like to note that professional Opera Singers can get away with dropping the jaw and triggering their vocal chords as they are possessing a 3x size vocal box that a horse would be jealous of! Since we dont have so many real Opera Singers with oversized vocal boxes, I had to create something for the ordinary people, who still would love to sing professionally or not. The Vocal Science Method suggests to lift the sound off of the vocal chords and restructure it into the facial muscles, which will play the role of the natural resonator. However, those facial muscles (vocal chambers) will have to work in full conjunction and coordination with the abdominal muscles and, thus, minimize the use of the throat, larynx and vocal chords. My former student Lukas Rossi performed with this very technique during the very first episode of the show. I do consider that performance (Rebel Yell) to have been his absolute best one from a vocal standpoint. The Producers of Rockstar: Supernova shortly after that first episode brought in a Vocal Coach to work with all the contestants on the show. She repeatedly suggested to all of the singers, and particularly to Lukas, to drop the jaw down. All of these singers, including Lukas, started to sound like cats in heat pulled by their tails using their new found technique of jaw-dropping. I presume that if I was to have recorded any of them, the Auto Tuner would have broke as it could not have dealt with the extreme pitch problems that resulted from it. Thats not to mention the potential damage which could be done to ones voice. I find it interesting that one of the judges, who I dont believe has ever sung himself, keeps commenting that Lukas should drop his jaw in order to open up his throat? Wrong!!! Dont ever open up your throat keep it closed unless you want to end up on an operating table and ultimately have your vocal anatomy butchered! I have been a musician for the last 44 years and I can definitely say that Jason Newsted is a top notch bass player and I would not dare to tell him how to play it even better since the bass guitar has never been my instrument. So where does he get off suggesting to a singer to open up the throat and drop the jaw down? I guess we shall see

Dave,
Let me first say that I adore you. You are amazing in every aspect.
Ok ok... I am buying that after I write this.
On Supernova, I am not getting SN at all. I don't know where they're heading. Are they a pop band? Geesz... They surely sound like one. If it weren't for the rockers, I think I wouldn't believe that they are rockstars.
Anyway, I love the way Dilana picked herself up after all this crap that has been going on. Go girl! And i don't freakin' know what Mark Burnett is up to making her look more evil every week. Eat my a$$.
I don't know why SN is focusing too much on bottom three incidents. JD has been in the bottom three numerous times but he still won. There is no doubt in my mind that SN is looking for someone that will sell and not necessarily someone who makes quality music. WHich really makes me sick to my stomach. After all the stress on songwriting, innovation, they gave the award to Toby whose song didn't make a lot of sense but got the people singing. Lame lame choice SN!

I got my tickets last night and I'm UBER excited. I shall see you in Wallingford, CT on January 27th and I'm bringing my sister along with me. It is my civic duty to turn everyone I know into fans. It already worked for two of my friends. :o) Are cameras allowed at these shows? Please say yes ...
Still rootin for Dilana even though I'd love to eventually hear Toby's original get some radio airplay.

Hi Dave
I'm from Oz and was really proud that Toby acknowledged Steve Irwin before his encore. We are having a "Crickey is Khaki Friday" to raise funds for his "Wildlife Warrior" fund. I was thinking that maybe for the finale something like this could be organised, to raise funds.

Adding a few ideas to the "rename Gilby Clarke" posts of earlier, nothing personal against the man himself;
Killme Sparke
Fret Astare (subtle, but you'll get it if you watch him play)
Pooch (dunno, that hairdo seems slightly canine)
Bar Chord One
Gravity C. (did you drop your gum on the stage?)
Heavy Foot (doesn't move much... maybe the shoes are too small)
Backtu (as in to Magni... damn, that was some rude shit)
NOvarro (as in the exact opposite of what Dave brings to the axe)
I think I like Pooch... fun and just nasty enough without going too far. And I might add that I have been playing guitar for a very long time, have tours and hundreds of gigs under my belt yadda yadda, in case I'm coming across like some no-talent douchebag making fun just for the sheer sake of it. Maybe I am anyway... heh heh.
Navarro's the MAN... check out the playing on The Panic Channel album... haven't heard tasty solos like that since Elliot Easton at his best.
rock on 67ers.

Somebody wrote: "I think Lukas was smart to play Headspin for his b3 performance. Last song of the night, gets to do an original to an international audience 2 nights in a row. The song sticks. I was singing Headspin all night and not 'uh oh uh oh oh oh"."
Ditto that. "Headspin" was definitely the one in my head all day today. Plus, the little skunk made me cry with that shit. Does ANYBODY who performs have a decent mother????
How does the rest of Toby's song go, anyway? Silly stuff a live audience can do instantly is nice, but um, I don't necessarily think it makes great songwriting.
(Sorry, Gilby.)
The previous night, it was Storm's that stuck. Honestly, I really liked Dilana's as well. I have to say that I don't remember Magni's at all.
It's too bad Magni's not a little more "theatrical." He's so perfect otherwise. That fact is what will lose him this gig. At this point, I think Dilana has screwed herself with her bad behavior.
So, it's between Toby & Lukas -- best buds in the house, aren't they?
BTW, 6767ers, I myself will be auditioning for backup vocals for a guy who's kind of an underground punk/blues icon sometime in the next week or so. Good vibes appreciated!
Thanks!

Dave:
Just a quick note--and I understand there isn't anything you can really do about this--especially since I can't provide an ISP--there is someone with your name in chat posting pretty offensive and graphic stuff. If you can look at chat history it is currently 9:38 p.m. California time.
Thanks,

From above poster:

At first I thought this blogger/vocal coach post was an elaborate prank, the kind I wish I'd have thought of and had more time to pull...
(especially with comments about "cats in heat" and the "Auto Tuner" breaking)
then my jaw REALLY dropped!
Take a look at www.vocalscience.com. It's all real!!!
(unless the website is also a prank)
Pretty impressive, I'd say.
Only thing is, wether Lukas drops his jaw or not, we still can't hear what he's signing most of the time. And the only one who's good at dropping is Toby, and that's his pants I'm talking about...

Really? Elliot Easton? And I was a big Cars fan, too. Guess I'll have to take a second listen.
But for my money, THE dude of all time was Alex Kane of Life, Sex & Death. Find their one CD "The Silent Majority" and purchase it immediately. Turn tricks & sell your mother if you have to, but get it.

BTW, keep those "FIND A NICKNAME FOR GILBY" coming!!! Thanks, Art Carcass!
(the "NoVarro" is #1 so far in my book)
I'd add "Gilby Clark Kent, Superguitarman", but I don't think he's good enough to pull this scam, even without big stupid glasses. Then again, maybe that's what the hairdo and facial hair is hiding. It's all an act!!!

Hey... I woke some people up, cool!
Yo Evel... I played with LSD at Rock'n'Roll Heaven in Toronto (we were The Hang, local boys who scored the opening slot) and I can't argue with you.. they kicked much ass and Alex was great.
I say Elliot Easton only because on the first Cars album, his solos are like little complete songs within the song, and I find Dave doing that on the Panic Channel album... takes you on a little sonic journey with lots of nice restraint and great tone. Tone is so important... ala old Billy Gibbons etc.
Anyway, peace y'all and weigh in with some nicknames... it's fun, and I'm sure Dave will get a nasty little chuckle out of it.
I'll take "NAvarro" over "NOvarro" any damn time.

Hello Dave, I like comming to your site and see what you have to say. I loved the lighter thing on Tuesdays show, It was funny... but true. Glad to hear you are going on tour with SN and your band. I saw you on Jimmy Kimmel the other night. Lucky Storm, to have you play guitar with her. Lukas's "Headspin" was so great and he has so much talent. I dont mind that I cant make out every word, He oozes, talent and Sex appeal, and what more could you want from a frount man. Has anyone won the tickets to the concert yet?? I entered and this would change my life forever if I won. Never been anywhere, done anything that was really noteworthy in my life. Well Dave Take Care and have a great time touring with the bands...... God Bless SL

ART CARCASS!!
OMIMFGAWD!!! You PLAYED on the same bill with LSD?!?!? Holy crap, dude. That's totally amazing, and I am duly impressed!
I think Silent Majority is my favorite rock album of all time, & likely to stay that way. Alex was like Mozart on that thing. The most fun rock band, like, EVER. Too bad they couldn't be played on the radio. ;-)
Anyway, if you ever wondered what happened to Alex, well, things are a bit different now:
www.AntiProduct.com
I'm afraid he's not the rocker he used to be, but he's damn sure still the PUNK he always was!
Thanks for the juicy info on your sordid past.

well, well, well....so much for the "little family" you created here!! DAMN!!!
anyway, i have to say, I just don't have the patience to read 600 + posts. especially if they are mostly about RSSN. I love the show and I love you , that goes without saying. But I just can't get THAT caught up in the drama about it. I don't know how you do it. I love most everyone here. So I hope I'm not offending anyone.
Dave you are a true inspiration. On so many levels.
Peace and love to you every minute of the day!

Harr....yeah, those are pretty good!
At least South Park Jesus kills once and awhile... the only thing Killby has snuffed is my attention span.
Dillby has a nice "pickle" connotation that can be used many ways, and I bet if he changed his pick for a nice big juicy dill, he'd get more attack in those verses!
Oh, I'm having too much fun now... I'd better go and watch last night's RSSN again to put an end to that.
Goodnight, fellow opiners.

RT/Art Carcass,
you're right about The Cars' Elliot Easton. His solos were the coolest sounding of the late seventies/early eighties, when everyone was trying to be the next Eddie Van Halen. His guitar playing was different, and his sound was unique (much like Eddie's "brown sound"). I still go crazy when I hear "Just what I needed" on the radio. The bridge between the verses and chorus - WOW!!!
In fact, tomorrow I'll be driving around town with "The Cars Greatest Hits", Van Halen's first album (I'm certain Dave will approve) and the Chili Peppers' "Hot Hot Minute" (have to slip a bit of Dave in there) in my CD player.

TPC RULES, TPC ROCKS, TPC IS GOD!!!
There, now I won't feel so bad for turning Dave's site into a personal forum for memory lane. Quickly, EveL; yeah.. they were fun to play with, Cory had the longest hair I've ever seen on a dude, the place was packed out (great club then; GNR played there, Faith No More, all when they were breaking big...)
Anyway bro, thanks for the info regarding Kane.
Keep it severe,

Posted by: Sharon Roberts at September 7, 2006 05:34 PM
Sure I get it. Life is hard when you're trying to make it in the entertainment business. Talent doesn't always get you there. Connections is what you need. I remember the 1st show, when Lukas did his number, Tommy Lee said: This is why we have the show. For people like Lukas. Something along those lines. Hey, music is one hell of a trick to do in the "record" industry. Storm doesn't deserve anything...she needs breaks just like everyone else. Not because she deserves them but simply because they exists.

RT, I'll have to check out L.S.D., never heard of them.
'South Park Jesus' - being the biggest SP fan, I'm surprised I never saw the resemblance. Have they ever been seen together in the same room? I smell another conspiracy...
Dillby with 2 'L' is a nice one - would be perfect if they choose Dill-ana!

BLOUMEISTER (cool tag dude)... thanks for hearing it like I do, and I love your playlist... Eddie's solos on the Fair Warning album still mess me up, and Mr.Navarro slays on that Peppers release!
See, now I gotta go and headphone some of the above!

DAVE, TOBYS SONG WAS NOT TOO ORIGINAL
I dont know if you heard of the group from Canada, the Tragically Hip. Check out their song on the cd Road Apples, from the late 90s. The song is called Gift Shop and has almost identical chord progressions. When Toby sang his song, I knew I had heard something like it before, check it out people

Hey RT, fair enough, I'll switch VH's 1st for their 4th, and drive down the streets yelling "So this is love?", since that's all I can do. Tried playing guitar when I was younger, found out that my fingers were only good for picking my nose and scratching my butt. Happily, my girlfriend doesn't complain, so maybe I should have kept on trying.

Hello Dave: Thanks for giving us such wonderful summer fun and angst. The Supernova show has been a wonderful summer diversion with the added plus of discovering Lukas Rossi.
I truly felt the music had died. Lukas breathed live back into the music and made my Headspin for sure.
Lukas also gives us a wonderful show. Adore the way Lukas moves around the stage and then does those leaping jumping turns and staggering/swaggers around the stage like a reincarnation of Hutchence with a splash of Jagger.
Am truly addicted to Lukas; only seeing rose colored glasses on those huge sloe brown eyes for the future. Lukas is just fantastic but he is also humble, nice and remembers the fans. Almost burst until I can see what Lukas will wear next and his make-up.

MAshakyhands - THANK YOU for posting Diana's blog entry. Had a look into that vocalscience website as well and in particular the following article...
http://www.vocalscience.com/flight.html
-----------------------
Here are some bits...
"Good technique is the basis upon which a singer's spirit is free to soar. It is your spirit (along with your completely individual physical body, i.e. no two people have the exact same DNA) that makes you different from anyone else and makes you unique.
Only when you sing with proper technique are you able to project a voice that is purely yours and reflects your individual self. It is your spirit that separates a technically good performance from one that is truly authentic.
Vocal Science is at its most basic an alignment of the subconscious mind, conscious mind, and physical body, which are then put into total integration and synergy with each other. This is the formula for the ideal vocal performance. By using specially designed exercises with the appropriate repetition, you can program your mind so that when you sing you will perform many of the technical aspects of singing subconsciously. Seventy-five per cent of your performance will come out on automatic pilot and you will need only a small amount of conscious effort to put your performance in place. Your physical body is the condition of your hardware; your spirit is the individual intangible that will make your voice and performance something that is unique and reflective of your state of being. The release of your spirit into the performance of a song is dependent upon using the correct technique.
--------------
Very Lukas! Explains a lot, more so in terms of his physical performance but vocally too of course.
No wonder he was questioning and seemed confused during the vocal clinic. Wow, do hope he has found balance with what he believes in and has been trained to do and what they are looking for out of him. Crazy! They'd better not be messin' him up!

The question is - which singer will inspire you to
pull out your wallet - to make you feel - to make you want to come back again for more???
Dave - I'd come see you anytime
re: SN lead singer - I love Delana but don't trust her - I'd like to watch Lukas for a few tunes but would get frustrated trying to figure out what he was saying - Magni - good for awhile - Toby fun for awhile -
why can't they try 2 singers - guy and girl - to keep it interesting - they could back each other up - create some drama and chemistry - have cat fights - lick each other on stage -it's a practical choice in case one or the others voice gets shot - I don't mean a duet - just 2 distinct talents doing solos
I always bring in a guy lead singer even though I sing leads in my band.......sexual tension and healthy competition - my guy fans have me to enjoy and the girl fans have a guy singer to check out

If you make it this far in the comments you're doing well. :-) from an NZ fan.
I've watched/listened to a couple of tunes from Panic Channel and i'm impressed. Glad you're touring with SN as you're definitely a plus for them.
I think SN, with Panic Channel with House band is a great audience magnet. Great diversity and all out fun rock.
Please can you bring it to the Southern Hemisphere. I've asked before and I'm asking again as I see no tour dates outside the US yet.
And on a side note, I think D got the bum deal from MB and the 'reality' trip. Yep, she said some of that stuff she shouldn't , but yep, she got the evil edit at times too. I'm glad you saw the talent there and I hope you continue to stick up for her as she's a unique talent with a big fan base.
Love and hugs,
A Kiwi Fan

Hmm, back to the SN drama eh?
I do have a question, why does it seem that a good 75% of the commenting on the webisodes are by Dilana? I'd have to go back to take a more concrete assessment, but I know that I can barely recall anyone else(the other major one being Lukas) but her doing the commentaries, other than each performers confessionals.
Is it just because so many of the incidents have centred around her? Wouldn't it make more sense to have objective commentary(the person taking the videos for example), instead of the person involved constanting making excuses for or explaining their words/actions?
Posted by: RiP at September 8, 2006 02:44 AM
And I know this isn't perhaps the thread to mention it in, but maybe, just maybe... Toby should win RSSN. The other fans are too polarised to their favourites and each hate the other 'rocker'... but mention Toby and all Lucas, Dilana and Magni fans go... 'oh, he's cute, great voice, catchy original, nice guy...' which means if Toby wins all the fans of the others won't mind and will still attend the concerts even if their fav is only in the first part/warm-up/houseband bit. Logical eh?!

I find many singers/groups fun to listen to, but you won't find me paying to go to most of their concerts, or buy their cds, especially if they're not delivering the sound that I was led to believe they were going to provide.
How did the boys put it, they want their final choice to add something they can't do, something different, unique, something unpredictable, some thing they as the musicians they are cannot provide, and can speak for them as a group.
So far, I've only heard of one of the rockers that have already left that didn't think Lukas was the one that should be chosen and she could have had a personal axe to grind(Dana), or not. In fact, Magni just said in an interview that he feels Lukas should get it because in his opinion, Lukas fits the SN boys "like a glove".
I'm kinda torn on that myself, but since these are the same people that have been living with him and interacting with the SN boys on a regular basis, I consider their opinions are quite valid and definitely more objective than any single "rocker's" fanclub.

Sometimes opening your mind wider than your asshole to let in a fresh perspective can add a whole new dimension to one's life. OTOH, sometimes you just get mindfucked.XD

Point being, before you tell someone off(something I should've considered before my last post to you and if I was wrong I apologize), you should consider that it might be someone else impersonating them just to piss you off and get a reaction. Now I'm gone, g'nite.

The performance from Dilana would love to see the top 6 from each series person to stick her foot in her mouth.
Lukas, he's cool but I can't perceive the person to be like vs. pure rock-n-roll.
Storm you rock and you lives in shambles, court appearances, convictions Tuesday the 5th.
I'm a Magni fan with someone who had done one already or at least gotten the encore. Anyway, I must live vicariously through your eyes.

What's up with your site Dave? Get on the ball man, we need to talk! Glad the boyz sent Storm home now, that way she get 100% attention this week and doesn't have to share it with 2 others next week and can get going with her career!

Teahouse is probably my favorite song on the CD and I can't wait to see you guys rock it live.
And, because I'm over the whole SN discussion, I have a question, Mr. Navarro: Read any good books lately?
Posted by: JTDuran at September 8, 2006 04:08 AM
Left to Lose, Awake, and Night ONe are obviously the best songs on the record. It's very good as a whole. What keeps it from being great is about two too many mid-tempo pussy tinglers. More rock more rock more rock.
Posted by: pet ophilia at September 8, 2006 04:16 AM
This is an interesting comment about Magni´s performance and the SN track I saw on www.supernovafans.com. I though it would be interesting for you to see.
"All of the performers have their own way of performing. Some slather on the make up, while others have a very theatrical way about them. I'm not so sure I understand when people say Magni lacks "stage presence". He's stoic and straight to the point. That's his "it". If that is not a fit for SN, then so be it. But don't say he lacks presence, cause he doesn't. In my opinion, he has the most honest presence of them all. But this might also be a cultural thing and I "get" it.
I lived in Iceland for 2 years. I returned to the US 3 years ago and I've been back 5 times. It's a captivating place. Anyway, culturally people are different over there. Maybe more reserved and stoic, and straight to the point. That doesn't mean people lack "presence". It means they present themselves differently. If anything, standing in a room full of Icelanders I felt a very strong but quiet presence from them. In the photo shoot someone made a good point. He said Magni is a "man's man". Not into the showing off thing. Not in the "gorilla beating on the chest" way, but in the straight forward and no bullshit way. Actually, I'm impressed they got him to wear eyeliner! Knowing Icelandic men, and I did have a couple of boyfriends over there, that would have been a task in itself. During my years in Iceland I felt that sort of vibe from the guys there.
Peace.
Oh, and PS. To answer the question put forth: I thought this was their best track yet. It wasn't rock and roll, but that might be an indication that this band isn't really as "rocking" as we initially thought.
And I thought Gilby was the one that lacked stage presence - not Magni.

For anyone who thinks Supernova will pick Toby over Lukas you are not giving them much credit as musicians and artists themselves. I can only believe that they are just as struck by Lukas's talent as the rest of us and would not in a million years pass him over. He is in front of them, wanting to be in this, willing to merge his talent with theirs to complete this band. They want a magnetic frontman and Lukas is it. They see it, I believe that. This is their chance to have the unexpected, the one they never thought they’d find. As Tommy said, he is amazing and you could search forever and not find someone like him. Lukas is the one you don’t let get away. He will be chosen, that was evident since Rebel Yell.
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 05:51 AM
Supernova should pick Toby. He is the most dynamic on stage and really makes it fun. Magni is my second choice but he needs to get more dynamic on stage. I'm into the whole package where music is concerned - I want great music and great lyrics sung so that I understand them. I don't like having to read the liner notes to figure out the words. I've yet to hear Lukas sing a song where I could understand the words. I don't buy it that it's his style - if the words are important - as in his original Headspin - then he should sing them so we can understand them.

Hey All ~
I'm glad to see the few hits on Jason crying!! Little surprised there aren't more of them, and trust me I've been reading for hours!! LOL What was up with that, it broke my heart and peaked my curiousity all at the same time! The editing job allowed us to see your glance over there, Dave. It appeared the same thoughts were running threw your brain! Kuddos to the tears, gotta love a man with feelings BUT what he hell man?!?! Kinda leaves a girl hangin', ya know?!
And, while I'm throwin' in my two cents here....Brooke and the baby!! How cool is that. She's growing on me I guess, last year she bothered me badly. This year, well...I guess she's part of the family, eh? Always thought Dave and Brooke would make a beautiful couple....prefect offspring there!! I KNOW, I KNOW, I'LL STOP!!! LMAO I was just sayin'! Alright Everyone have a wonderful day! Peace.

ONe is probably my favorite album I've purchased this year. Honestly, I think there is such a fabulous mix of sound....from Teahouse to Why Cry to Bloody Mary to Night One (MY FAVORITE, BY THE WAY). And tracks 11 and 12 are so incredible. You guys sound awesome together, and I HATE that there are critics out there bashing you....I only hope the album sells enough so you guys will put out a second one...or that you'll say FUCK THE CRITICS and release another album anyway. That's what I'm hoping...anyway We already bought our TPC/SN tickets and we're SO FRIGGIN EXCITED it's unreal. You guys come here the day before our son turns 3 and right now TPC is his favorite band...maybe we'll take him ;) KIDDING. Keep rocking. Wow that sounded stupid. OK I'll shut up now.

Dave,
It is funny. The first night of the shows I saw Lukas standing looking quite bizarre with make-up and the attitude. I thought this guy is either incredible or he is a joke.
Then Lukas started to sing and now I will be hopelessly hooked for the rest of my life.
He is an awesome performer, and regardless of how this comes down, he's got a huge built in audience waiting for him.

I still can't believe people come on here and say things like,
"I've yet to hear Lukas sing a song where I could understand the words. I don't buy it that it's his style - if the words are important - as in his original Headspin - then he should sing them so we can understand them."
It's so bizarre. Can it be true that there are such profound differences in hearing and comprehension abilities among people, those that can and those that can't. I just don't buy it. I have no trouble with most everything Lukas sings. I will definitely admit there are times in a song where it can be a little hard to understand the lyric because of his delivery but I would never be so obtuse as to make such a blanket statement as above.

I watch the show with my rocker son. Not important who he is, anyway he says knowing the SN boys, they will not want Dilana and her drama. The last rocker holding out on her, has had enough, Look for her to leave soon.
Magnis a bit too polished. He will go on though we think to a nice career here in the US
Lukas- lukas lukas...he was the early fave, slipped a tiny bit, but can still bring it.singing his original song as his bottom 3 song was lazy and its obvious Gilby already feels he does just enough to get by. Is that enough for them?
But the NEW favorte seems to be Toby. I loved his original and so did my son. Instant marketability. Will SN want to cash in on that song a la Pretty Vegas? hmmmm
We just might see an aussie win it.
Dave the chemistry between you and Storm is amazing. Hire herrrr or something! I still dont think we EVER got to see her enough doing songs that she could kill and i loved her original. I can see it being used in a screenplay-movie or something. It rocked.
That's all from here! Checking back soon.
We love ya Dave xoxoxox

I like Gilby but...that being said I want in on the contest.
what about Nilby?
Posted by: RockersMom at September 8, 2006 08:32 AM
This is my observation from reading many different websites on the final rockers (my fav is gone - so I am being open minded here)
Lukas - Most favorite on all website - People worship this guy.
Toby - Everyone thinks is hot and very "Mr. Nice Guy". This is everyones 2nd fav. But most don't think he has that edge to him.
Magni - Most people say they love his voice, but he is a bore.
Dilana - I think now that the smoke has cleared people are starting to admit they like her voice, but to much damage has been done to repair (Most agree that even though the original information about Dilana came out by SN - She kept it going herself and making it bigger).
Anyways, Just my observation. Even though my fav is gone I am still addicted to all the websites and continue to read the comments.

OK.....it is true....Supernova HAS picked someone!! Just saw Tommy Lee on Regis and Kelly and he said that there is someone to lead the band and they are one of the final 4 on the show.
DAMN!!!

Yes, I agree, those that like Lukas worship him. He elicits profound respect and admiration for his talent and abilities among his fans. We also think he's absolutely beautiful!
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 08:42 AM
SMART MOVE!!! I believe Lukas singing his original in the B3 was a smart move. He has gotten his original out twice internationally. If he doesn't make the group (which hello - SN would be dumb not to pick him)then he already built up a fan base all around the world that enjoys his music. The more you play something the more people love it (unless it is overkilled). Anyways, that move was the smartest a new starving musician can do. Kudos
Posted by: Susan at September 8, 2006 08:42 AM
Lukas has shown himself as being a down to earth guy. He seems to have a lot of common sense and takes things as they come. Others in the manison states that he is a caring guy. That is only some of the reasons why people love him.

Note to SN: Definitely needs MORE cowbell!!!!!!!
Posted by: topcat at September 8, 2006 08:45 AM
I believe that SN has picked someone. Duh, they only have a few days left. By now they should have the person picked out. I would imagine that only SN and a few close people know who their choice is. Unless, something changes their mind between now and the final show they will go with that person. But I couldn't believe that they would not have made a mental choice by now. Only 5 more days until the word finds out. Fingers are cross for my favorite. LUKAS!!!
Posted by: Candy at September 8, 2006 08:48 AM
There was an interview with one of the reporters who was at the media clinic who said that of all the rockers Lukas was the ONLY ONE that day that did not say anything negative about any of his fellow rockers. Class act!!!!! AAA+++++++

Hey Rockersmom... I like Nilby!
I helped keep the nickname game going last night, and the list is getting funny.
I want to call the band SUPERCOMA, and I hope that catches on.
I want the tour to be sponsored by Sominex.
I want Gillboy "Viagra" Clarke to have lots of pyro on his side of the stage only ... ("Viagra" because he needs some cock in his rock)
I want Tommy's drum kit set up in front of Fillme... and I want him to occasionally whip a stick at Clarke's head, just to get him to look up once and awhile...
I want Jason to force Wilma to wear nothing but Voivod and Metallica shirts during the entire tour...
I also think that Gillboy NOvarro should take four strings off of his guitar and give them to someone who will use them!
Okay, I admit I want a lot out of life!
Keep smiling people, peace.

In terms of who I think will be the singer of Supernova, it would have to be Mr. Lukas Rossi. But I think every single one of us is coming out of this situation bigger, stronger, and better than we came into it.

Dilana has the #1 most downloaded song on msn - (mother mother) this is out of every artist out there not just Supernova she is # 1--- I think this speaks volumes, haters can bash and post whatever but this is what its all about what sells...... its all about the money
Dilana has 9 out of 100 songs
Toby has 5 out of 100 songs
Magni has 5 out of 100 songs
Lukus has 3 outof 100 SONGS
Posted by: CATHERINE at September 8, 2006 09:22 AM
Re: CATHERINE at 09:22 AM
That in no way means she's right for this band. Those numbers will be topped by the winner's songs with Supernova and more power to her anyway. I am very glad she's increased her fanbase through this show. I hope she's successful after it's all over. She does deserve it, but she just isn't right for Supernova. They need more than Dilana has to offer.
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 09:31 AM
I believe that one of the reasons why Lukas has less in the top 100 is because he has sang the least amount of songs. All the others have been in the B3 more than him and have had an opportunity to sing more songs. The originals are not up on the Msn rating site yet. And for some reason they are not putting LOAP on there (most people think it is a copy write issue). Plus, I believe that most people do like Dilana's mother mother - but do not like her for the band.

Posted by: Service at September 8, 2006 09:38 AM
Dilana's songs that are selling are great covers of already memorable music. That would not be the case with Dilana with Supernova. We've all heard what they're writing and arranging and I'm afraid Dilana doesn't have the creative genius to make those sell. They're hardly memorable as is and need something extra to make them memorable..... ie Lukas.

Morning Dave. :-) I enjoyed reading the ‘new’ material at TPC’s MySpace today. :-) Now… Please excuse me one moment while I… *sets industrial strength “Troll Bomb canister for maximum radius and does a dive roll for cover* Can never get *all* the little beggars, but I hope that clears some of them out. LOL ;-) I’m predicting, here and now, that Lukas Rossi will be a “Jim Morrison or “Kurt Cobain of his generation. Big statement, I know, but I don’t say it lightly. (I just hope he has a long, prosperous life and we get to hear his music for decades to come.) Lukas is a musical innovator, lyrical saint and his pure genius for song arrangement makes it so that after he “covers a tune, I can barely listen to the original artist’s version anymore. LOL Lukas’s version is so much richer, deeper and more memorable that everything else just fades away. Many people “get him, immediately, and become what I’m sure will be lifelong fans. But for the rest I’ve seen folks being converted, one heart at a time, by Lukas’s humble, sweet personality and captivating musical gifts. Practically every day I see someone on the boards apologizing and saying, “I get it now. Sorry for saying (insert comment.) I’m hooked. LOL

I think Supernova should pick whichever Rocker is best for them. They need someone who will have chemistry with them for a long time and who can captivate an audience. I LOVE Toby to death, but if they don't pick him I know that he's talented enough to go far! Magni already has a band and is going to be big after this in Iceland! ;] But Toby is the koolest! Hey all the fix is in!!
Tommys website has let it slip that Dilana is to be crowned new lead singer for Supernova.
Check it out at www.tommylee.tv
There are three rotating pictures on the entry page. Two are of TLee spray painting grafitti the other is of him with Gilby, Jason and Dilana in a album cover pose.
Disgusting and appalling that they would bring on this one dimensional hag.
I feel that I have wasted my summer following this shit!!!!
I guess this proves that they are not serious in making this a legitimate long term band but rather they are focused on this as a short term project.

To all the people that are dissin Luke's version of it i would like to see any of the other rocker get up there and sing that song!!! That's why nobody took it and they all agreed if anyone would be able to do it, it would be Lukas. As well fans of Storm and Ryan they are saying that they would like Lukas to win so lets Vote for Lukas people.

one could only hope thats true but if you look all over that site there is one with lukus and the group and one with storm and the guys, so that was wishful thinking and whoever is posting that that lukus is higher in top sellers is mistaken are you all wasted go to either the playlist or the best sellers and view the top 100 I think lukus has 4 and dilana has 9 explain that - mother mother is # 1 on the most downloaded what are you smoking crack -maybe tommy can set this straight -so creep was # 19 ohhhh thats so good, yuck

chug my balls victoria
Posted by: catherine at September 8, 2006 10:31 AM
I would be truely saddened if Dilana won this :/
The other two pics up of Lukas and Ryan are merely beside the text giving detail on Ryan going home and Lukas singing with the band. Neither are a faux album cover.
Posted by: Serafina at September 8, 2006 10:31 AM
I agree that the pictures of Dilana on the Tommy Lee site is more prominent and suggestive than the other. The other rockers pictures are all in reference to the shows recap. The Dilana picture is the main entry picture and is not of a performance but gives you the feeling of "Heres the Band"
God I hope not!

Catherine, by all this are you trying to say Dilana is better than Lukas? You are trying awfully hard (multiple increasingly angry posts)to make a point here but you know what, it's getting lost on me. Dilana's sales of COVER SONGS means nothing in the long run. We are here supporting the best person for this job and who's TV covers are selling best does not necessarily a good frontman make. It's a complex and intricate matter that appears to be beyond you.

Okay, I can't believe how addicted I've become to this.......I can't wait to hear from you Dave! I know you went out last night and are probably sleeping in, but we need our fix!!
Oh, and how crazy is it that Paris Hilton got popped for DUI after leaving your party?
Storm Large ROCKS!!!!
Posted by: Tracy T at September 8, 2006 10:38 AM
If you scroll down Tommy's page there is a photo of Storm with the band also. I would not read to much into that photo of Dilana. These are talented musicians there is no way they are going to pick Dilana. This race is between Toby and Lukas.

Do you Morons Have anything better to than argue form the internet...It's like the special olimpics.....even if you win YOUR STILL RETARDED!!! Get a life.
Ok Now to business...I really DONT want Dilana to win....even though I probably will not buy any Supernova album. None of the songs are appealing. The one that Magni sang the other night was ok....to say the least! I think that Toby's song was the most memorable song of the night, and hahaha I blast it on my IPOD every night! Love ya Tobs! <3 Have a good day Dave and Im sorry for writing alot....oh well Get Over it! :],

excuse me but some asshole is using my name catherine as they post - i guess they think its funny, I posted 2 times, the others are just idiots
Posted by: catherine at September 8, 2006 10:55 AM
Ahkkk! There's nothing sexier than a sexy rockstar who takes time to read all his/her comments on their personal blogs! Haha. =P
Sad, sad, sad that Storm Large has to go that night. I fucking fell in love with that girl from the moment they first introduced her on the show. But, I am glad that Mr. Dave Navarro and Ms. Storm Large (and quite possibly, T-Lee) will do a Suffragette City cover!
I also see that Storm's got "it" to make it fucking huge in the biz. I love her to death, and wish her all the best.
P.S. Dave, will you go out with me? =P I do realize that I am what some might consider 'jailbait', but hey. Will you wait 'til I turn 21 so we can get it on one of those future days? Haha. =P
Peace. =)

Posted by: Robin (Peebs) at September 8, 2006 11:08 AM
Peebs, is that you or the imposter?
Posted by: Sue at September 8, 2006 11:10 AM
Lukas doesn't have the most songs on the top 100 because he has sung the least amount...due to only being in the B3 once and then singing an original (Go Lukas). The others have had more songs to sing because they were in the B3 more and did covers. LUKAS rocks!!!!
Posted by: beth at September 8, 2006 11:10 AM
I agree that it looks quite suspicious that Dilana is featured with the boys on Tommy Lees entry page. I could even convince myself that it is just innocent......BUT...........
Tommy Lee had said that Dilana was his favorite performance on an riginal SN track, albeit this was recorded before Lukas sang, now Gilby says in his new inteview clip on the SN website that playing with Dilana on "Won't get Fooled Again" was his favorite performance and was a blast.
OH NO DAVE, PLEASE TELL US THAT IT ISN'T SO AND THAT DILANA DRAMA IS NOT GOINT TO FRONT THESE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To answer a real early post as to why Lukas is often called "too" young for the band that isn't actually what people mean. What they really mean but aren't saying it correctly is that he is "too" modern and relevant.Toby is stuck back in the 80's with his style ala Motley Crue maybe this is why some see him as a fit.Magni seems like he's out of the 90's and would fit a band like Live.Lukas seems more current with his style than the slightly "older" rockers in the show.
Posted by: SlappyJones at September 8, 2006 11:18 AM
Oh oh horrors! if that were true, what a waste of my summer being totally addicted to this show and the message boards just because I was given a dose of Lukas crack back in July by accident as I flipped through channels.
Whatever the outcome I'm more than happy to now know of Lukas and his music. That more than makes up for anything.
I heard Dave said in an interview that he wished he could start a new band with Lukas as lead singer. Now there's an idea!
