Cool, can't wait to hear Storms take on things at the mansion and who she think should front SN. I hope it is as intense and as interesting as Ryans.

And you know Dave that the Lukas love will continue!

Posted by: GRRR at September 8, 2006 06:34 PM

woot... i'm looking forward to this...

Posted by: Creggers at September 8, 2006 06:35 PM

I enjoy Spread Radio and your blog. It seemed to me that Lukas and Storm seemed very friendly towards each other. Any thoughts? PS Lukas all the way!

Posted by: Charlene at September 8, 2006 06:35 PM

Dave, Dave, Dave...

My biggest concern about Dilana is this:

This is a business, and like all business ventures making mad cash is the goal. Can ya tell I'm in sales? Heh... Being on stage is a lot like being a good salesperson. You have to look the part and play the part - ALL THE FUCKIN TIME. Not just when you are in a good mood or having a good hair day.

If I were SN, I'd definitely be questioning Dilana's ability to play the part consistently. If she can bash her peers and her fans at this early stage in the business relationship, what the hell is she gonna do after 3 grueling months on the road with a bunch of guys? I'd definitely be worrying about what would fly out of her mouth at that point when her nerves are frayed and exhaustion has set in.

You wanna sell CD's and put asses in arenas...you go with who is most marketable. At this point I'm looking at Magni and Lukas. Lukas is obviously more flashy and at least he had the brains to respond graciously when the press tried to drag him into the Dilanadrama. What he lacks in the technical department can be easily fixed with some coaching.

I enjoy listening to Magni but I just think at the end of the day he lacks the charisma to really have "it"...you know what I mean? From a technical standpoint he's a good musician, but he just isnt interesting enough for me to shell out for the concert ticket.

Ahhh well...they cant all be Rock Gods like you...

ever the admirer,
Lily

During your interview, be sure to let Storm know she has a shitload of fans now, from all over the world, who will definitely be following her career. We're all also anxiously awaiting her first big smash cd that will blow Supernova off the charts (assuming Supernova gets there to begin with). We love you Storm!!!

Posted by: rockin-momma at September 8, 2006 06:40 PM

well, obviously they should just send all the singers home and start over.

Lukas is too hard to understand, Dilana is just too little and crazy, Magni is too sane, and Toby can't run around the audience for two hours.

Put them all together and you'd have the perfect front thing.

HEY! maybe...

naah

Posted by: Skitty at September 8, 2006 06:41 PM

LOL about Toby not being able to run around the audience for two hours. I'm sure that Storm will be better off with a solo career anyway. I don't see SN lasting all that long, but Storm will! I wish her the best of luck!

Posted by: Kat at September 8, 2006 06:45 PM

Storm was my favourite female contestant...she is just soooo cool.
Let her know that she is loved. If my fav wasn't to win (go Lukas) then I would have wanted the winner to be Storm without a doubt.

Posted by: layne at September 8, 2006 06:45 PM

Even if dilana did not have her break down or any type of drama at all, her lack of creativity, one dimensional singing, and utter insecurity and cornballness which are obvious to anyone with half a brain should be enough to keep her from winning.

Its between lukas and toby anyway dilana is just being kept around for ratings.

Posted by: OuTRiGHT at September 8, 2006 06:47 PM

I missed the cut off on the previous post...

How new is the news that the House Band and TPC would be joining the Supernova tour? Weren't the ticket prices already set and wasn't the gate receipt pie already divvy'd up? I don't have a PHd in Rock Tour Economics so I am curious.

Lukas is my homie and I think he has that extra intangible IT factor that SN needs, but really Toby, Dilana, and Magni each bring something unique to the table. In the final analysis it's all good in my book.

\m/ \m/

peace y'all

Brian in Calgary(..it's motherfuckin' yours....go get it...get it!!!)

Give Stormy our Love and have a nice evening!

Posted by: merrymagic at September 8, 2006 06:48 PM

Oh I cant wait to hear Storm! She was one of my favorites, even though I knew she wouldnt win, she was just to cool for words.

What is with all the Lucas love? I dont know anyone who actually likes his signing, one of my friends says he has to turn the station when Lucas sings becuase his voice bothers him and he cant stand looking at him. I wouldnt download his songs for free, what is the point when you cant understand a word he is saying and that licking the microphone thing he does must stop..ewwww, who wants to see that, so poser looking.

I really cant say who I think SN will pick to win, except that I dont want Lucas to win it. I was a big Metallica/Guns and Roses fan and I was really looking forward to SN. I even have "And Jusice for All" and "Appetite for Destruction" on record! Both albums are in mint condition. My daughter laughed her bloody head off at me for having them, but as soon as I wasnt looking she scams them from me and tried to put them up on her wall. I took them back of course. I was just looking at Jason on the cover of the Album and I couldnt help but laugh, he has that exact same look on his face but with long wavy hair, LOL, to funny.

I really cant see Magni, I think he is cool but I will admit he is a bit boring. Dilana is cool, but to dramatic. I love Toby, I think he fits the best and I liked him with SN the best. Know doubt he's hot as well, which is always a plus. I hate it when poeple call him a Frat boy. So he's hot, he cant help his looks, and its all good anyway. Its better than the Bettlejuice look by a mile.

THE OUTCOME OF THE LAST BLOG.

Okay, so I don't have anything better to do on a Friday -sad. But after working all day I don't mind coming home to read these comments. Anyways I took a count of the rockers that were requested as SN Front in the last blog for Dave.

DILANA = 26 people favored her as SN front person
TOBY = 22 People favored for front person
Magni = 9 people favored for front person
Lukas = 118 people favored for front person
Dilana or Toby = 3 people
Dilana or Lukas = 3 people
Toby or Lukas = 1 person
Magni or Lukas = 1 person

All the other comments were not related to SN or did not say exactly who they would like as a front person. I think from this...it is obvious who the fans want.

Posted by: Figures at September 8, 2006 06:50 PM

Hey Dave, Hope you enjoyed your day off. Just wanted to say that my votes go to Lukas! I think he's the only man for Supernova. You don't think you'd be able to listen to Lukas for 2 hours straight....are you kidding me dude? I can't get enough of Lukas. I already have a cd of songs from his previous bands that I can't stop listening to. He's the only one I'd pay to see. So hopefully they pick the right man and maybe I'll be seeing ya in Detroit. BOOYA!

Posted by: Rebecca at September 8, 2006 06:50 PM

I think it's interesting that Tommy told Regis and Kelly this morning that they already picked a winner. Great, so couldn't last week have been the finale?

Posted by: rim at September 8, 2006 06:51 PM

OMG you have made our boring night more of a high life tonight (haha we had our neighbors kids next door trying to jam on a guitar on the parentals deck...and I yelled at them to keep it up and not stop (we are such cool neighbors)...My hubby and I are thrilled that you are hooking us up with Miss Storm Large tonight. My hubby is already drooling. /wipes his chin. Thanks Dave for keeping us old folks entertained on this Friday night. /hugs!! From Alabama!

p.s. I we are dumbasses...what's "soup"?

Posted by: Trace at September 8, 2006 06:51 PM

dave, why would you be anywhere near the internet reading blog comments when you are with Storm?

And storm? if you marry Dave Nipples, please do not hyphenate.

Or do.

My wife and I love you, and I'd like to know if Ladylike will appear on iTunes anytime soon? I don't do MSN.

Posted by: lpmiller at September 8, 2006 06:54 PM

and it's L.P.Miller, not ip.

Posted by: lpmiller at September 8, 2006 06:55 PM

Yes, I am a little drunk, thank you.

Posted by: lpmiller at September 8, 2006 06:56 PM

Dear Figures:

Please get a life before you're found dead in the basement in your underwear with a star wars figure clutched in your fist. Seriously, who counts all that shit.

I'll say it again: Lukas is too good for SuavePorn. Please don't let him win.

Posted by: slutmonkey57b at September 8, 2006 06:56 PM

Dave I know this is not the place but I just wanted to let you know I really loved you and Carmens show Its hard to watch what happens to people and being married is so hard sometimes and well i know this isnt Dr Phill so on a better subject you rock and so does Carmen. I told my husband when God asks who is the one person you want to have dinner with its Dave Fuckin Navarro// your sarcasim on rockstar is hilarious im thinking do people get how funny you are

Posted by: Tina at September 8, 2006 06:56 PM

Hmm SRL is on but not on IM. How is Dave suppsed to ignore my IM's if he's not signed in?? This really isn't good enough...

Posted by: slutmonkey57b at September 8, 2006 06:58 PM

I saw Regis and Kelly this morning and I thought it went more like this:

Yes we picked a winner and its one of the four that are left.

At least that's how I thought he meant it. Tommy was pretty antsy this morning. ;p

Posted by: Shonie at September 8, 2006 06:59 PM

Ok I really liked Storm and I wish her the best. Out of the ones left I would have to say I like Toby's energy he is always fun to watch. I get nervous when I watch Lukas because he looks like he is having a seizure and I can't understand him half the time. Dilana is great but to hormonal for SN and Magni is just to much the same you know what to expect from him all the time.
Just my thoughts although I have had 7 watermelon martini's tonight so I guess my judgement could be clouded.
Anyhow tell Storm we love her and that we are all waiting for her CD!

Much love from Venice, Florida!

Posted by: Amanda at September 8, 2006 06:59 PM

I really don't care that I can't understand everything Lukas sings...It is Rock and Roll...I loved the Cult and Ian Astbury was/is a crap singer but he can sure rock it. Lukas is the same. It is the whole package. Lukas is very compelling to watch, he is creative and when he is on stage or on camera, I can't take my eyes off him. If you want perfect pronounciation, listen to books on tape.

Posted by: Charlene at September 8, 2006 07:00 PM

oops meaning that they have narrowed it down to those four. duhh Lack of sleep is getting to me.

Posted by: Shonie at September 8, 2006 07:01 PM

Dave -

Let Stormy know that we LOVE her. She was the most solid and consistent performer from week one on. She changed up things constantly (From Anything, Anything to Bowie ... she showed amazing versatility and range - (Gilby had his head up his ass)) ... and was professional, graceful and fucking rock n roll ladylike. There is not a man or a woman on this planet that didn't fall in love with Storm Large!

Thank you RS for introducing the world to Stormy.

Oh, were there other contestants? :-)

Posted by: Juls at September 8, 2006 07:05 PM

ROCK GODS don't carefully throw their guitars across the stage when they are told. Instead, they cry for days completely forgetting THEY are the ones who scragged everyone else and smash wine glasses to smithereens by the pool when they are barefoot.

ROCK GODS don't say how high when the drummer says jump and gingerly climb on the bassist's stack pissing them off and clotheslining them with the mic cord. No, they hop around singing on one foot pointing out they could have killed you in your sleep.

ROCK GODS don't bitterly tell guys who will be in their late 60's in 20 years that they could have had a 20 year career with them. What they do is assume the gig is theirs and tell the drummer to send all the rest of the fuckers home.

ROCK GODS don't wear some kind of bandage on their right arm to honor the wounds of the earth and show how emo they are. Nope, what they do is reassure everyone that they are "back" when in fact they never went any place, because of course it's all about them. How do you think those VH1 "behind the music" specials got started?

ROCK GODS aren't so serious that it has to be the end of the world if they actually can bring themselves to write a song about sex. Instead, they'll write their songs from the heart even when all their heart says is they wish the internet would shut up. CTRL ALT DELETE already.

ROCK GODS don't carefully confess in their "confessionals" how bad certain housemates are because they are so "concerned." Instead, this song is dedicated to me because, "yup, still upset. That's what I have to say. That's the performance. Hear my awesome yelps of pain, confusion and angst."

ROCK GODS don't have only one facial expression and must conciously order their face to smile. Instead, you can't take your eyes off of them when they sing, whether you are in the audience or they are on your TV.

The evidence is clear. Crown the goddess already.

Posted by: Skitty at September 8, 2006 07:05 PM

ROCK GODS like pie, and lots of it.

Posted by: lpmiller at September 8, 2006 07:07 PM

Gak! Lukas isn't a crap singer! I didn't mean that! Just his vocals aren't as strong as some, but I don't care.

Cher Dave:

Thank you for bringing Lukas Rossi into our lives.

Cannot imagine Supernova fronting anyone other than Lukas.

Toby is fun but it gets old after two songs. Magni is just plain boring and has no oomph. Dilana is a train wreck.

Lukas acts like a Rock Star (although he appears to be very humble and nice offstage), dresses, sings, dances, and writes phenomenal music. He makes the whole rock star image complete. There are some things severely lacking in the other competitors but Lukas shines like a diamond in a spotlight.

Cheers to you, Renate

Hey Dave! wish TPC & Storm and The Balls would do an intimate tour and roll into N.O. we sure could use the music. I just bought your cd & I loved it. I'm sooooo disappointed in Supernova's music it's lame. also I love the show & I'm glad you're on the couch because the boys don't have much to say. I have to admit I love Storm, all the luck & love to her. Thanx for SPL!

Dude, did you see what Storm's fans are doing?!

StormAlbum.com

They aren't waiting around to see if Storm is going to get a record deal. They've already raised $1,200 and are trying to raise $15,000 so she can buy studio time and an engineer and production stuff to put her own solo album out there right away!

Crazy people! People LOVE STORM!!!

Ok, help me out - was it just me - or did SRL suddenly just stop tonight after the Storm Large interview? Both the 6767 and SRL sites would not load either for about the past 3 or 4 hours. Just curious. I wondered it Dave shut us down, or if there was a power outage in LA, or if his server bursted into flames or what...

Good Evening Dave, I had to come see for myself that you didnt think Lukas would be a good pick for SN. Sad to hear that, and my comment to listening to him sing for a 2-hour show is, Hell Yeah I would. He does have a softer side to his voice. I find it hard to believe that you a rock person has a problem with someone singing songs in a Rock music fashion, isnt that what they want????????? It really doesnt matter though. You and I both know that he will be BIG. Toby hasnt effected me in any way what so ever with his singing. I did notice him trying to look, act and sound like Lukas and it is pathetic and now you think he might be the best fit. Well anyway I believe it will be a big mistake on their part to choose Toby or Dilana. Lets all flick our lighters to Dave and the up comming tour, hope everyone gets what they want out of this......SL

Posted by: Scherry at September 8, 2006 11:17 PM

Glad it wasn't just me! I wonder if Dave has been fixing the problem for all these hours, or if he said fuck it and went and had dinner with Raiana... or maybe both. Anyway, the Stormy interview was fun. Sounds like she's going to be just fine - talk about opportunity. But, I was hoping to hear Dave get into the 600+ posts and the 200+ that came after that, especially regarding the tour. I wonder if he read them all.

Having all that he has, all he is missing is that bit of guidance from experienced rockers....I think Jason in particular will be an excellent teacher for him in using his talents.

ROCK GODS die, choking on someone elses vomit.

Posted by: verysmall at September 9, 2006 12:03 AM

Dave,

I could not agree with your comments on Dilana more. You need to send some time setting down with her and explaining life. Actually you could let her listen to minutes 27-35 of your shout out to the troops. You said something real cool. You said something to the effect of Some of these guys are lying in bed with nothing but music, let’s give it to them. Then you went on to put your own problems in to perspective compared to those guys. Dave in that moment you were a musician in the truest since and not a musical celebrity. Moments like that real rare in this day in age. It is sort of like when a politician acts like a statesman for a few minutes and the world becomes a better place. As your friend said Dave you are a diplomat and I say that you are a Statesman for music. In these days of greed and personal fixations truth is rare commodity. Dave you seemed to grow as a human being during those minutes. Dave, as one of the troops, that show from a philosophical point touched me.

So back to my original premise, Dave I humbly suggest that you be her teacher whether she wins or not.

Posted by: Bigjim at September 9, 2006 12:08 AM

Hi Dave,

I see this comment every once in while calling Toby "Pop". I just have to shake my head and smile very smugly to myself. Wish I could post that image.

Anyway, I realize I'm going out on a limb here... my hubs who is a very HARSH critic told me he hears a little Freddie Mercury in Toby's voice while listening to the SN track he did, Be Yourself and 5 Other Cliches, which YOU said he killed. Okay, I did hear FM too after he mentioned it, but what I personally was hearing was David Byrne in his vocal stylings. When I listened to his 4 tracks on www.myspace.com/jukekartel (which Throw It Away was not my fave, but I understand why he chose it to perform) I heard some Alice In Chains in the guitar work of the other 3 songs which sounded very hard and heavy.

So Freddy Mercury + David Byrne + Alice In Chains does not equal "Pop". My classification would be alternative hard rock. That's a good mix, but don't get me wrong, Toby definitely sounds like Toby. Supernova seems kind of like hard rock.. KLOS rock. Toby fits that.

I've been down quite a few musical roads since the 60's. Never have I turned to Pop, extreme punk or extreme rap. When I was a kid in the 70's I listened to Lou Reed, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Faces, Uriah Heep, Humble Pie, just to name a few. I have a decent ear. So I just felt like answering to that notion, "Pop".

I can imagine the naty replies I might get from that if anyone actually reads me. Take care.

Posted by: Niki at September 9, 2006 12:14 AM

Toby sounds more like beer than pop.

I love that Storm was mad at you for not calling her, but little did she know her phone was in the trash. What the hell was it doing there? I hope you help Storm with her career like you said. Having you on a track could sure help publicity wise and musically.

I think Lukas Rossi, beyond being an incredible singer, beyond being an incredible performer, he has that magical androgyny that I love in all front people - male and female.

He walks that line of sexual - not ambiguity - but - he can swish, sashay, make his lips be feminine but still be all, all COCK you know what I mean?""

How was that!!!! shot storm!!!!

Wow..the tour just got better Dave since they announced you will be joining them. I'm looking forward to seeing you and your band.
The clock is ticking as we get closer to who SN chooses for their new singer. I am eagerly awaiting the show, however, can't help but get a knot in my stomach at times. Here's my take on things...and I have tried to be as objective as I possibly can.

Dilana: She has gone through a rough time..but I have to ask..how much of this did she bring on herself? No doubt we saw what the producers wanted us to see and it is hard to make a sound decision on how fragile and broken her personality really is because of that. I started out enjoying her first couple of performances..but I lost interest because of the same raspy sounding vocals, but I will admit she gives it all she's got on stage. She has really gone downhill though in the past few weeks. Personally I don't care for her voice and wouldn't buy her music.

Toby: He's a pretty face, and fits in with the mainstream pop/rock sound that we so often get shoved in our face these days to be passed off as rock. I'm in my late 40's so I've been around for some of the good rockers and I've been to a lot of concerts. Much of the stuff being passed off today as rock is a poor imitation. SN will sound like many of the other mainstream pop/rock bands with Toby fronting them. Not that I didn't like his sing this week..but I'm expecting more than that from these three great musicians. They've come too far in their careers to sell themselves out to a pop/rock sound. Toby will get the crowd waving their arms and wiggling their butts...and I'm sure there will be sing-alongs..but please..we need some dirty, edgy rock. I also find his voice too common and typical.

Magni: Nice, likeable guy, powerful voice, but I find that when Magni really starts to belt it out..like in his Live song..it almost borders shouting...but for the most part Magni has great vocals..except for when he gets into that shouting part. I think Magni would be very happy to go back to Iceland with his many many more fans and be happy being an icon in his homeland with his family..it's just a feeling I get. He doesn't excite me when watching him perform. He is substance...but no edge. I would be getting pretty bored before the end of the concert.

Lukas: Ahh..Lukas. He lights up the stage..a true performer. I have seen Alice Cooper 3 times...and I remember almost everything about his shows because they were not just pleasing to the ear..but also to the eye. It wasn't just a cocnert..it was a performance. Alice's songs came alive on stage..much like Lukas puts life into his performances. The emotion, intensity and creativity of Lukas Rossi captivates me. He is like a box of chocolates..you just don't know what you will get next with Lukas and I like that excitement and mystery. He has incredible skill in arranging songs and I loved what he did with Livin' on a Prayer. He turned this song into a Lukas Rossi song the way no other rocker could have. I have watched this performance many times since Tuesday night and it just gets better. Now for Headspin...what can I say..Lukas was amazing. Headspin brought tears to my eyes, and to many others I know as well. It was so intense. I haven't stopped singing the song since Tuesday night. Lukas is a thinker. Many of us thought that Lukas should have gotten the encore...and maybe Lukas did too...but regardless of the reason, Lukas gave himself the encore and actually did the song even better when he performed it in the bottom three.
Lukas oozes sex appeal..not just visually but in his charisma, stage presence, talent, honesty, integrity and he's got class too.
Lukas will bring to SN the edge they need to stand out amongst the mainstream bands. He is mysterious, dark but not goth...just enough to make him sexy and edgy, and he's very appreciative of the fans..I know two that have met him at the tapings and they say he is very sweet and genuine. A bad boy that's got some sweetness...ya gotta love it. He looks great in the makeup and fashions he wears..in addition to anticipating what he will sing..I also find myself eagerly awaiting to see what he will be wearing.
If SN doesn't choose Lukas it will be their loss. The Lukas love train is growing and I am in a forum that has new people posting every day that are getting on the Lukas love train....people in their teens, 20's,30's,40's and 50's. I will follow Lukas Rossi's career with or without SN

Loved the banter between you and Stormy tonight and I've just got to send her even more luv since it seems she's behind my pick of the season too! I'd like some of what she described paraded in front of me a lil more often!:)

She can count on some sales to back up that luv, I need to get my own track, and probably some for gifts, of her What the What for the times when "lady" earns a whole new description.;)

I wanted to add that I need to assume your comments about Lukas and the rockers are merely you reflecting the concerns of the over all fan base and not necessarily your exact thoughts [since if they were you'd be contradicted a lot of previous comments].

I hope you would never feel threatened by someones popularity and would embrace it instead. I don't understand what kind of deal you have considering prices were already set. Is this a money losing option for all or did you already know well in advance it was going like this? Is it just a two month favour? [Hard to imagine].

I hope SN keeps Lukas. I for one would do my part to fill the SN coffers and indirectly yours. Work with Lukas Dave. I'd love to see you and him on the same stage. I'd almost worry about that because it could be too much of a kick ass combo then where would panic channel be?

Tommy brought me to watch Rockstars. [Wasn't a big inxs fan]. Lukas captured all my interest and brought me to check out your page and purchase your cd. Without Lukas I wouldn't even be on this page investing interest.

Now that I am here though I do enjoy your music. I've always been aware of you Dave. I just am not very appreciative of all the good comments to Lukas being edited out of the show. How the edits made him look in the clinic I didn't appreciate either.

If he did not get the SN gig I would be even more upset at the edits. I hope this show doesn't end up pissing me off in the end. The reality tv edits were too much. I want this show to redeem itself and take the obvious winner. Nobody can convince me that Lukas can't captivate an audience for 2 hours. He is the right fit for SN and they'd prop each other up.

I saw the band chemistry Lukas had with SN over the others. You'd have to be blind not to have seen it. Watch them again dave. Dilana, Toby, Lukas Magni. If you can say you didn't see more band chemistry with Lukas then the others with a straight face I'd call you a bold faced lier.

Nobody is perfect. Lukas will take that anthem and fill the seats.

Posted by: Freddy101 at September 9, 2006 01:00 AM

I just realised something..
Some say toby to front the band?
Some say magni,
Both these rockers have great voices, but the voices are not different unique or special..
To make Supernova Unique and completly rock'n they need our boy LUKAS..
Think about it.. =]

Posted by: Deena at September 9, 2006 01:03 AM

Dave,
After the first show Lukas was definitely my favorite. And I thought Dilana and Toby would round out the final 3. Well... since the 3rd week I have dropped Dilana for lack of interest. But I still like Toby and I'm glad him and Lukas are friends. But Lukas is the winner to me.

Posted by: Attitude at September 9, 2006 01:05 AM

"Toby sounds more like beer than pop."

Lol, no wonder Lukas likes him so much.:)

Posted by: Aeolyn at September 9, 2006 01:10 AM

I've been lovin Lukas since the first show!!

As a long time rock n roller, I think he is the best thing that's come along in a long time.

You are never too old to "get" great music!!

Sign me up!!

Posted by: On the Path at September 9, 2006 01:11 AM

I'm not getting the Toby love at all. He sounds like every other pub-rock band in every suburban pub in Australia. I can hear him doing Cold Chisel and AC/DC covers every time he opens his mouth.

He seems like a nice guy and he's got a nice enough voice and a lot of energy, but rock god? Not hardly.

Posted by: Sonia at September 9, 2006 01:14 AM

Oh and one last thing. I am perturbed that the Bon jovi song Lukas did is not up for download. I heard Jon Bon Jovi do that song just this very evening on TV on some show called. "Fashion Rocks". He was up there with an acoustic and some violins in the background. I was so glad he did it because after hearing Lukas do it I could hardly believe how much better Lukas's rendition was. I don't think I was imagining how Jon had actually tryed to one up Lukas it was very similiar the difference being Lukas did it first and 2-3 times better! For me Jon failed incredibly, miserably.

Did Jon block the download somehow? Refuse to sign off on it? [if they even have to]. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen an original artist try to steal a contestants thunder from one of these shows. If he did and he tryed to show up the stripped down Lukas version he failed. I hope more saw it then they can stop whining about Lukas's version.

Damn, I missed SRL because I couldn't get on that website, nor this one for several hours earlier tonight. Damn.

As for the tommylee.tv thing...yep, all the rockers are there, but it certainly looks like one of them is front and center in a band publicity shot. I hope that's not the case.

I'd pay to see any of them except Dilana. She's turned into a whiney, melodramatic child. I can NOT believe they sent home Storm before Dilana, unless they have already chosen her. If they knew they weren't going to pick either of them, they should have kept the one who gave 3 kickass performances this week. Dilana's cover of "I Want You To Want Me" sucked ass. Oh, the cover itself is good, and it belongs to another band, the kisses in the middle and all. She was completely off tempo! First she was way ahead of the band, then she was dragging behind...and with that group of brilliant musicians, there's no way she can blame it on them. Or can she? She's always the victim it seems. The webisode could be interesting.

As much as I want to see TPC and the house band, I can't sit through 2 hours of Dilana. I'm not buying tix until I know who wins. If SN was opening for The Panic Channel, it would be a different story.

I hope your resume comes across more intelligent "than ur psts du!".

Well, well, well, Magni seems to have alot of fans that don´t comment threads all over the Internet, it´s more like they share the love he gives privatly. Many comments here are like: Magni is boring on stage, magni does not have this and this and so on. I happen to be a hugh Magni´s fan because that boy can sing. Supernova was ok performing with Toby but loved "It´s all love" which sounded perfect for the band and Magni. The other two SN performers did nothing for me!

Magni: a great singer and he is the "real" thing.

Toby: my second favorite, he can sing but not as great as Magni and he is almost the "real" thing.

Dilana: I loved her very first performance but after that, so sorry, and on stage se tries TOOO much with lala resault.

Lukas: I sing better then him and I suck but he is ok a performer (my little daughter likes his look, so cute little fellow).

Dave have a nice time on Sunday and hopefully you guys can see through all the "extra" glamour stuck on the other contesters and listen because you can change the look but not the voice.
Have a nice day
PS I am really gona miss Storm because like Magni she is a great singer.

Dave you called out Dilana for "Bagging" her peers, Now I have a question for you..

What about a Rocker (Magni) still in the show that gives an interview with ET Canada and says Luckas should win? What in the fuck is he thinking? Was Dilana telling the truth when she said he thinks more of his family and realy does not want the gig? Are you going to call him to the Matress as you did Dilana? Check for yourself

HaHa.That pic of Di-loon-a on Tommy's web site is recent she's got her calf crutchy thing on.Mark Burnett is the debil.Man there isn't much suspense left in show exepct for Dilano.I hope she pogo's around on one leg again and does some of them funny ass high leg kicks.Although this time I'll be prepared no trying to eat or drink don't wanna spit my drink all over the poor dog again. Will she pick another song from another world famous band that she has never heard of?

Even better I figure they do the same interview clinic that they did last year when Marty laid out his where he would take INXS spiel.Andrew Farris you were the nervous conductor now you seem to want to tell us what to do with our careers????Hey Marty just reminded me of Ryan.I can see Ryan doing the same thing.Damn I wish he was still around he was worth some serious laughs too.

I can only imagine what sorta brilliant responses Diloona has in this sit down.I Can hardly wait.HeeHe.

Dave

I luv ya but your comment about Lukas in your previous post really breaks my heart. I'm really sad. How could you say that about him. I could go on listening to/watching him even if its a 24-hour non-stop live show. He's unique, mesmerising, edgy, sexy, he has amazing vocals, great stage presence and his emotion just floats through every performance. You can tell through his (beautiful) eyes that he's sincere & music is all that matters in his life. He's simply captivating. Oh, he's classy, super GOOD LOOKING and dresses well too. :)

Every single eliminated rocker in the house thinks that he's the best & should front Supernova. Even Magni who is still around admits that Lukas is the most talented rocker. He must be really something.

I luv Lukas and so do all my friends and families. They luv him and have been his fans since day 1. We're all hoping (and have been voting our asses off) that he will win this gig. And we'll make sure he wins.

p/s i'm posting from Asia btw.

Posted by: Raze at September 9, 2006 02:41 AM

Everybody is saying Magni is boring.

I have the solutions. Magni should have someone do a VERY large tribal tattoo on his face, he should be the first person to have all of his knuckles pierced with large steel rods and he should sacrifice a goat on stage during his next performance, and he could perhaps smash Lukas in the face in the next reality epesode. ? What do you all thinK?

And yeah, he should be allowed to performe "THE ACE OF SPADES" by the legendary Motorhead ASAP.

This shit would probably make him more interesting and controversial to advertise the band.

Of course what I really don't get is the Lukas love. He's all (emo)surface, no depth. That's fine if you want to be a one-hit wonder, less great if you want a career of substance. He also comes with a truly annoying bunch of fangirls following him about, which to me seems less than a drawcard.

But perhaps that's what SuavePorn want.

Posted by: Sonia at September 9, 2006 03:26 AM

Hey Dave,

Regarding what you said in your blog the other day. You said you were not sure if you could stand to listen to Lukas for a 2 hour concert. Dude you talk out your ass more than the SN guys. Are you not the guy who praised Lukas for showing a different of himself with the songs that he did last Tuesday? I think you said somthing like "you have showed us that you can be energetic and fun and then be emotional." My point is out of all the competitors Lukas has showen that he can sing with angst, humour, anger..what's there to get bored with? Please don't say things that totally contridict what you have been saying all season. Also I would like to say that you and Storm Rocked the other night I have watched it many many times. Also you were so right her original was FUCKING amazing. She should have gotten the car hands down. Dave do the world a favour and get her a producer and or a record label call in a favour or to and help her out.
Thanks for reading and I can't wait to see you and TPC guys in Toronto on the SN tour. Peace

Posted by: Shawn at September 9, 2006 03:31 AM

Alright then...

Lukas's voice could never be grown tired of because of the fact that it isn't one dimensional; there's so many layers to it. He has at least 5 different sides to his voice which is a beautiful thing, and a very hard thing to find. Because of this i believe he would not only capture his fans for a two hour concert but always. I don't need to go into his star quality because it's undeniable. Lukas has legend written all over him.

As for the other rockers...

Toby: Very predictable

Magni: Solid, yes, but he won't be able to keep the Supernova hype going...*yawn*

Dilana: Ummm if she can't and doesn't write her own songs...she's basically BRITNEY SPEARS with tattoos and piercings

Just my two cents
Thanks,
Cali

Posted by: Cali at September 9, 2006 03:33 AM

DUDE! all season you've been voicing your opinion regarding Lukas in a good light, and now you say you can't see yourself sitting through a 2hour concert if Lukas were to win?
Then your nothing but a walking contradiction.
If you didn't think Lukas had the vocal stylings to make an awesome frontman why would you leave it till now before saying such a thing.
I Love the Panic Channel, you guys are fucking crazy cool in so many ways. But with comments like that man, your more than likely going to loose credit in the eyes of your fans who support Lukas.
Case in point, obviously by this stage you would've read all the comments above pertaining to what you had said in your blog.
I imagine there will more than a few disgruntled readers.
Either way, i think Lukas kicks so much ass it's fucking sexy crazy.
He has the distinct "Jeff buckley" vocals that come through every so often which is bloody riveting. His performances are never the same, each one is so much more unique and responsive than the previous.
It don't matter i suppose if you've fallen off the Lukas love train, you are after all only one man and i shudder to think that your comment is enough to sway the voters even if you "don't have any say in the matter"

LUKAS ALL THE WAY, HARDOUT MATE!

Dave,

On Ryan's myspace he says he has taken out an unlimited verizon account and is spending all his free time trying to text himself back onto the show for the finale. Now I hear he has bought several unlimited accounts and has his friends doing the same thing.

Is there anyway verizon can let us text "KEEPOFF" and then Ryan?I would pay more than what they are asking for now per call.It doesn't seem fair that he can text himself back onto the show like that when the rest of us are texting for different people and don't have a concentrated effort.

If verizon can't do that can you ask Ryan how much money he needs to stay off the show and maybe you can get his Paypal account and let us know the address so we can send him the money.

Thanks Dave

I'm sure this has already been brought up in the last 500 or 600 comments but: Tell me-how does one go from saying that they would chose Lukas to front their band and turn around and say that they aren't sure they could listen to him for two hours??? Unless I am mistaken a lead singer would probably sing for an 1.5 to 2 hours. Oh well.

Storm-what a fun and classy lady!! Enjoyed the interview. Agree with her (and most of the past singers and even one in the final four) about Lukas!!

I am sad to see that Dilana has pulled the wool over your eyes as well as Supernova. I can appreciate that she is talented and that I enjoyed her at the beginning but all of the "over the top" praise she received from everyone has totally turned me off.

I finally broke down and purchased my ticket for the tour. Can't wait to see you in Chicago and hopefully Lukas for 2 hours!!

Oh no, I'm not having it, even if you *like* The Cult. No dissing of Ian Astbury's voice. That's the law.

Dave, in your interview on Rockstar.msn, you are wearing one fine shirt - maybe a sweatshirt - I want one! Where can that be gotten?

I have to say Dave, your last entry made me raise an eyebrow. I was just a bit surprised by Lukas'"weakness" that you mentioned. Usually the ones that address similar "concerns" are people who can't spell his name correctly and/or are obsessed with another rocker.

I guess when it comes down to it, it's a matter of preference. Although I couldn't disagree more with Dave's comments about Dilana (has the voice? even her "edge" I think has disappeared) and the one on Lukas, I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch. From what I've heard and seen on the show from Lukas, it alone is enough for me to sit through 2 hours +. But to hear the Cleavage and Rise Electric tracks, I'm smitten. I know what he's capable of. Whether or not he chooses to show that Sunday night is his prerogative.

Adam from the band Three Days Grace was a good friend of Lukas'. He has already acknowledged the fact that he's on Rock Star: Supernova and thought about the possibility of doing a show with him sometime. I think Lukas will be fine.

May the best one win is all I can say. Ultimately if that isn't Lukas, so be it. I believe he will continue with this (hopefully they all do), and as a fan, I'm not going anywhere.

On another note, I enjoyed the interview with Storm.

Dave or anyone else out there who understands computers. I was trying to get onto this site and SRL to hear the show but I could not bring up either page. I type the addy in the URL bar and all I would get is an AOL search engine, ok select the link from there and it just brought me right back to that page. This morning I get and no problem I can access both sites again. I am confused. Anyone have any ideas what happened??

Anyway I hope Dave and everyone else is having a good weekend thus far.

I hope to catch last nights show, I am sure it is in rotation.

Great interview with Storm. Loved her. Seems all the contestants think Lukas should be the one. He has a lot of talent dude.

By the way, to all that couldnt get into Daves site to listen to SRL, you can listen thru live streaming on his Myspace page...thats what I did...

Thanks Dave..love TPC and SRL!

Dave:

I have really enjoyed both seasons of Rockstar. What a great idea for a show. I have been waiting for something like it since that show "Bands on the Run" aired on VH1 a few years ago. I would be very interested to know how much of the weird stuff that happened with Dilana was a lot of creative editing. It seems logical that with the constant praise she received that the people in the "control booth" would want to "shake it up" a bit.

Although I have a favorite, I do think that each person brings a lot to the table. Each performer who is left is so different stylistically, professionally and vocally.

Thank you for a great season.

Posted by: Amy at September 9, 2006 05:50 AM

Good to hear Storm last night. Out of both seasons , she is the one I am most interested in following. Loved her original and looking forward to the material you two are gonna collaberate on! So awesome you two are gonna hook up. The chemsitry you two had on stage was awesome. Glad to hear she is touring with SN, TPC and the house band. I will definitely try and catch the show now! I am totally hooked on SRL. Also I just found out INXS will be coming to the HOB in my area and I have to go and check them out and to see JD Fortune. I was pulling for him last season.

Can't wait to see who SN picks. Toby is my fav now!

Posted by: Anita at September 9, 2006 05:53 AM

I have enjoyed the SN songs (except for the first one), i love the guys especially Gilby, and I am willing to give the band a chance, even looking forward to the record and I wish them the best but man, I don't think I can get behind them with Dilana or Lukas, he just isn't a strong singer and she gives off this 80s hair metal vibe that they just don't need.

Magni and Storm have been my favorites all along, and while I love Magni he is a little too consistent in his performances. That leaves Storm, she is awesome, classy, original, fun, would have been my pick and is the only one I would pay to see on their own. She needs to be the one brought back for the finals (please no more Ryan, if not Storm then Z)

Lukas fans - and I am one of you - are you really sure you want Lukas to win this? Have you liked any of the music you've heard Supernova play? Could you see any way Lukas's music (as in what he has written and performed with previous bands) could fit in with what they're trying to do? Because to be honest, I don't see that.

I know Lukas wants to win this, but I honestly deep in my heart believe it will be better for him if he does not. Look what the Storm fans are doing, raising money for her to record her music her way - Lukas fans are just as loyal, and just as ready to put their money where their mouths are, right?

As much as I completely adore him, I keep listening to his music from Rise Electric and Cleavage, and he's meant for better things than Supernova. Truly, I believe that.

So if he does not win, don't get all angry with SN and Dave etc. Be thankful that Lukas is going to be able to go and make the kind of music he really wants to make instead of whatever the heck this is Supernova are making. Then we should all support him as much as we have during the show. Heck the amount of time and effort we've all spent on the voting, you know? What's a little money to get a bunch of songs by a guy whose work we adore?

I'm not saying stop voting, but I am saying if Lukas does not win, don't be acting like the fans of other rockers who have been kicked off - all angry and hateful and saying nasty stuff about the other rockers or unpleasant things about who does win. We're better than that, right? If he doesn't win we'll be disappointed in some ways, but there's great stuff on the way for Lukas outside of Supernova. I think we can all agree on that, yes?

Posted by: Snoskred at September 9, 2006 06:12 AM

Well said SNOSKRED!

I'd be more than willing to shove some $$ his way if it were to help him write and perform music his way.

To the post(s) about how many comments are left for the rockers really doesn't play too much into this. There are thousands of people that don't read Dave's blogs or write on any forums. Not everyone spends time on their pc. IMO, this is a very small percentage of the population.

morning Dave and everyone

sometimes I think there is no point in posting this far down one of Dave's blogs, but what the hell I'll do it anyways :)

I missed SRL last night. Couldn't even get on your site. That's a damn shame because I wanted to hear your interview with Storm. As much as I didn't think she was right for SN I still liked her singing and style.

So what's up with your recent blog entry Dave?

Cuz you know people really take what you say personally.

It cries out a bit of a different tune from what you portray on TV when commenting on Luka's singing :)

So is this how you really feel or were you looking for some feedback in the Lukas department - cuz if you were I think it worked hehe

Oh yeah - still waiting for an answer on the edge thing...fake or real?

<3 to you all

Posted by: Serafina at September 9, 2006 06:59 AM

Someone above said Lukas makes them "nervous".

Well, that's fantastic because it means he's doing his job. Art is supposed to make you nervous, uncomfortable, thoughtful and maybe a little ecstatic.

Art is never about feeding you pablum.

So be happy that SN has found a performer who can stir both discomfort and passion up in people.

As for Storm. Well, I wish there were many more Storm Larges in the world, but she's one of a kind, and I'm just so glad I now know that somebody like her actually exists.

Posted by: centrifugal force at September 9, 2006 07:01 AM

Dave,
not to pick on your grammar, but your comments about Lukas were transcribed incorrectly.
I'm sure you meant to write "...vocally, I'm not sure. I would love hearing him for a whole two hour show." With the period added after "sure" your critique makes sense!!!!!

Posted by: wehfra at September 9, 2006 07:03 AM

Dave,
Glad you got a day off to some of the things you might enjoy. Thanks for the comments in which I can elaborate on...lol... I totally agree with the choices and comments that you made of the 4... I think that with a lil guidiance and form Dilana will be able to have that professional edge on life and fans and comments made to her, about her, and around her with out being such a spit fire and going off, writing songs and getting mad. Although I do agree .. I don't think I could listen to Lukas, for more than one or two songs.. although if he would learn to enunciate, and not mumble it might come off better than he does.
But I do have one really big question for you...
What kind of music does SN really play or want there singer to do??? They claim to be rock and metal .. but the music that they play or ask the rockers to do does not sound like metal or heavy metal or hard rock. Some does, but when Dilana or others go hard and heavy they are ridiculed for this... if they sing soft ballads or oldies but goodies they are praised... just a lil confused here ...
We love you and your group here in Indiana, and we will continue to watch you and the show...

P>S>>>>> the next show should be ROCKSTAR TYPE O NEGATIVE..... although according to the news yesterday .. sounds like the Black Crows might needs some help ...

PSSSSSS>>>>>>ROCKSTAR PANTERA .. WOULD BE AWESOME .. ALTHOUGH THEY JUST NEED TO FILL DIMEBAGS PLACE IF THAT IS AT ALL POSSIBLE...

Thanks again for listening ..

wehfra, when Dave read what he wrote about Lukas to Storm, it sounded as if a comma was meant to be there. :|

Posted by: orly at September 9, 2006 07:21 AM

WHY GREAT SINGERS REMAIN UNKNOWN: poor business marketing skills. So Storm Large (whom I adore) comes off nearly three months of international TV fame, fans are hot to contact her and get her original music but... her rinky-dink site crashes and, oh yeah, there isn't any way to buy her original songs short of "preorder" in an instant gratification modern world. Her "people" remain 'loyal' to amateur web hosts and CD pressers who days later still can't get it together. She's late for her interview with Dave. Storm, dear, you are nearly 40 years old and this is your last 15 minutes -- are you using it wisely? Get a top-notch manager TODAY.

#1,001 regarding what happened to SRL last night? I lost my connection a little after 7:30 and couldn't get it back. Hopefully he will rebroadcast it today sometime.

Dave, Keep telling the truth. I really don't get how people take your comments so far out of context that they think you are being insulting. How many of these people who are so uptight even knew who their favorite was before RS/SN?

Thanks for being part of a program that exposes new talent for us AND brings a wide array of talent. Thanks for giving these artists a way to showcase their talents on national tv and gain a wider fanbase. It's not your fault if any of the unchosen rockers don't make it after this. It's up to their fans to spread the word, buy their product, and support their favorite.

IMO you lose some of your energy to be supportive of the things you like if you are spending time tearing down something you don't like.
peace

Is Gilby upset with Dave for sabotaging Dilana?

Supernova guitarist Gilby Clarke tells AOL Music he was surprised by how the 'Rock Star' voting has turned on original frontrunner Dilana, who was grilled by Dave Navarro for bad-mouthing her fellow contestants. "She wasn't chastised by any band members, if you noticed," Clarke said. "Dave made a comment, like, 'What are you doing?' Did you notice the three of us shut our mouths? Because we've all been there. We've all made mistakes, and to be honest with you, I didn't think it was that big of a mistake."

It was not nice to say that about Lukas' voice, especially after giving him a tongue bath on the show. Are you just trying to stir shit up or what? I listen to him for hours every single day and never get tired of the sound. Oh well, no matter what happens I will be following (and contributing my hard earned cash to) his career as long as he's out there. I have never gone this crazy over a singer before and I'm no teenager. He had me at Rebel Yell. You are on my shit list, Dave. Haha, just kidding. I still think you are a hottie but I hope Lukas kicks your ass when he reads what you wrote. ;-)

Hey Dave, why don't you go for a record in your comments section? Take a few more jabs at Luke and see who else crawls out from the woodwork. You must be having a blast reading a bunch of posts from 13 year olds today. I hope you find time to enjoy yourself instead.

I was at the second performance show and when I heard Lucas I thought to my self he's the one, his voice was awesome. Toby performed last and I must say he was even better. I think Lucas will give the band more of the edge they need, but I also love Dilana. The only thing I am sure of is,Dave Navarro your sarcasm an wit make my day!

Awesomely beautiful photo Wendybird (with previous entry)...

Ken and Carmen's "Head to Hollywood" is an awesome cause...

Though on the other hand, I wouldn't compare them with people like Perez Hilton who use their blogs and fleeting fame to tear down other people / make fun of people with one leg i.e. Heather Mills McCartney and have no talent and ride on the coattails of others then dis them when their fat ugly ass thinks they're better than that person who they used worse than a john uses a hooker... Though I do have steadfast confidence that his fake foundation of uselessness will crumble beneath his feet and he'll go tumbling back into the gutter where he belongs quicker than a ton of steel falling from the top of the Empire State Building... (P.S. This me being nice to that scum of the earth whose nose is so brown it should smell worse than sewer pipes!!!)

I am offended at all the people saying all Lukas fans are thirteen year olds or unemployed. I am 38 years old a very successful Real Estate Agent in Florida and happily married to a 46 year old School Teacher that is also a fan of Lukas. When I first heard Lukas I thought where has this guy been hiding? I've always been a fan of rock 'n roll never has anyone captivated me like Lukas. I will follow this man and his music wherever he goes, for the rest of my life!. I'm honored to join all the people that feel the same way I do. I'm hooked!

Posted by: Rise Above at September 9, 2006 08:32 AM

ok, truth is Storm the only reason you got voted off is that everyone knows you're a solo artist. You are NOT a front man. YOu are a SOLO artist. If I was in supernova I would have voted you off weeks ago. YOur time was being wasted being on the show. WORK NOW TO GET THINGS ROLLING! The boys said they'd be your backing band because they KNOW you and they KNOW rock and they understand that you will have a career with or without them and they support you! be grateful that you got voted off. NOW IS YOUR TIME!

Posted by: Deneishia at September 9, 2006 08:34 AM

DAVE, U ROCK!!!
i used to love dilana but not anymore. magni is a great singer but he bores me. for me, it's down to toby and lukas. toby is more fun and lukas is more creepy but from the 4 supernova songs i heard, they seem to be more of a fun band than a creepy band, so my pick is toby.

Posted by: coolgirl at September 9, 2006 08:42 AM

Why the hell is Dilana still there?

After PK and IWYTWM and her uncontrollable outbursts I am wondering the same thing. OH, and let's not forget her Thong song 2006. She really has her pulse on today's music.

To steal a line from SP Jesus, she makes me feel a little uncomfortable, man.

Posted by: lukasfan at September 9, 2006 08:55 AM

"Anyway, I realize I'm going out on a limb here... my hubs who is a very HARSH critic told me he hears a little Freddie Mercury in Toby's voice while listening to the SN track he did, Be Yourself and 5 Other Cliches, which YOU said he killed. "

That's a tiny, fragile little limb, IMO. Toby isn't fit to lick Freddie Mercury's boots if a vocal comparison is made. His voice doesn't have a fraction of FM's range and emotiveness. But to be fair, whose voice does?

I loved Storm's comment about Lukas's androgynous sex appeal - he does remind me of many swishy but cocksure lead singers. Brings in the girls and the boys, lol. I could listen to his voice for 2 hours - there are many shades to it, and hearing the clearer tone for even a couple of songs would be worth all of the teasing growl to get to it.

Dilana's a great performer but nothing I'd go pay to see.

Posted by: racquetgirl at September 9, 2006 09:00 AM

Gilby, oh Gilby...I don't think anyone can blame Dave for single-handedly bringing down Dilana. MB Productions played a huge part in showing certain humiliating clips of Dilana on international television, plus she fucked herself over by not being able to handle the pressure in the first place. Love her dearly, but it's the truth.

I say GIVE TOBY THE JOB! He's proved he can handle the pressure, have loads of fun, and will give the paying audience their money's worth at a live show.

Nope, never, not in a million years would I ever get sick of hearing Lukas sing!
What is it about his voice? It has a deep, resonating fullness with a rough, raw edge, very, very manly sounding, but when he hits the high notes it is as if I am listening to a school aged choir boy. The growls, groans and breathiness only add to it's richly textured sexy sound. His voice draws me in to the music like no other I have heard before and leaves me wanting more. It's unique and memorable, addictive and mesmerizing, like the man himself.

Posted by: HelterSkelter at September 9, 2006 09:36 AM

Does SuperNova plan to be a band for the long haul? Doesn't seem like it to me. It seems like this was just a fun way to get some publicity, put together a band and tour for a few months. It wasn't like INXS who have been a band for 30 years and wanted to continue playing together as a band. So, whomever wins this thing has what amounts to a temp job. Maybe Dilana should win this thing. I'm beginning to think that the 'winner' of this show will shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to a solo career, so let her self-destruct. Whomever it was that called her Britney Spears with tattoos and piercings cracked me up! Sure, she LOOKS like a rocker, but she's not a musician, and there's a VAST difference.

The moneymakers for this tour are The Panic Channel and the House Band. SN should open for them, and not the other way around.

Storms comments say it all:

---------------------
Dave: Do you have a favorite now - someone that you are pulling for?

Storm: I love all of them but the person who I think is going to win is Lukas Rossi

I think Lukas Rossi, beyond being an incredible singer, beyond being an incredible performer, he has that magical androgyny that I love in all front people - male and female.

He walks that line of sexual - not ambiguity - but - he can swish, sashay, make his lips be feminine but still be all, all COCK you know what I mean?
------------------

Glad to see she "gets" him. Gotta love Stormy.

I've lurked around this site for about six weeks now but hand't felt compelled to write until seeing your comments on the final four. Dude, what the hell are you thinking? Lukas completely captivated me from Day 1 and is the true embodiment of a rock frontman; reminds me of David Johansen and Scott Weiland. His originals are killer; his arrangements on the cover tunes —especially the stones' song—were at least as good as the originals. A SN without Lukas would be a pedestrian one-off and an inevitable punch line."The band went Supernova!" would be the equivalent of "Jumped the shark."

Go Lukas. Tear it up on Sunday night!

Posted by: Lukased at September 9, 2006 10:04 AM

I hope Lukas doesn't win BECAUSE he is by far my favorite. Supernova would ruin him. Dave, you and Lukas together might give old Jane's a run for the money. Don't worry about his voice, he can be finessed with coaching. More importantly, Lukas has that rare gift that cannot be coached: the poetry of rock n roll, the essence... I feel as if Lester Bangs, rest his soul, would approve.

IMO, Lukas seems a little too snooty in terms of his narrow musical taste to front a band that includes a Motley Crue member. Seeing how he turned his nose up at the Bon Jovi cover as if it were beneath him, even dissing Nirvana, you'd have to wonder what he'd say about having to cover 'Home Sweet Home' or 'Dr. Feelgood'. He also seems too concerned about how he's looking to fit in with someone like Jason and to a lesser degree Gilby and Tommy. Personaly and appearance-wise, I'd have to say go with Toby.

Posted by: jc at September 9, 2006 10:14 AM

Lukas is a ROCKSTAR...doesn't matter what any other person says...he fits! I love Storm!

Posted by: Cherrycoke at September 9, 2006 10:38 AM

Nobody made Dilana make sour faces when the other rocker got praise... She has been doing that for at least four weeks now... It's because she can't handle real competition!!! She brought herself down no one else did... and I lost interest in her a while back because her performances didn't keep me hooked...

Even on the back of that comment, I still say she could front Supernova!!!

Posted by: Savvy at September 9, 2006 10:41 AM

So Storm will be with you on SRL tonight - yay insomnia - here's to listening :) She was a bit flaky occasionally on RS SN (eek - I will survive) but that didn't matter she still had something really nice / possibly scary about her which made her fun to watch and I bet she is ace to know too. Besides SHE was still the only one who got to play with a REAL Rockstar. Silky..x.x.x

Well I guess it depends what direction SN is taking their music. I'm like Gilby easily confused. They say rock with a dark edge thats Lukas. Their songs have been good music but happy happy lyrics thats Toby. So when they choose their singer we will know the type of music they will be playing. I like the edgier rock myself but I guess there is always people that go for Bay City Rollers,NOT ME.

Posted by: Janet at September 9, 2006 11:37 AM

When all this is said and done I will be running out to buy Lukas' music no matter who he is fronting. 2 hours is NOT enough. Someone please tell me how I can get some of the stuff he already has out.

Wow, so many posts now, I feel like I'm lost in space.

I lost my connection of course, so I didn't get to hear the interview with Storm.

Dave, I would listen to Lukas sing the alphabet. I never get tired of hearing his voice. In my opinion, he is the only memorable performer. I can't get him out of my head, from the first time I saw him perform I was hooked.

Thanks to everyone who has tried to help me. I guess I missed some post about an apartment complex to check out. There are so many posts to go through I get lost. Carly thank you, but the center that you referred me to is for battered women. I still have no place to go. I have a difficult time believing that God doesn't give you more than you can handle.

It is obvious that Lukas has the soul, desire, presence, edge and musicality to front this band - however, whether they choose him or not is irrelevant - Lukas is a ROCKSTAR and will succeed with or without Supernova. His talent is undeniable...I am completely mesmerized by him everytime he is on stage. Dilana is... well... what can I say? Kinda like a one-hit wonder! She was done before she even got started. Check out The Lukas Rossi Connection website - it is awesome. Love ya Dave! xxxooo

I'll be happy as long as it isn't Dilana. I'm pretty confident that I read Gilby clear enough that it won't be her.

I caught the season starting in week 6. This came after much prompting from my Dad of all people. My retired -aarp- Dad, who didn't like me listening to Metallica, G-N-R and such when I was in high school, kept telling me about what a great band SuperNova is going to be. I saw it the first week and couldn't believe that Dilana was the favorite. And she keeps getting worse. Storm won me over with Bring Me to Life. I didn't think she could sing that given her lower register. And then Ladylike!!! I'll buy her stuff now. Until then, I probably wouldn't have. I kept expecting her to be let go.

My money is on Toby. I think when Dilana called Toby out in her brilliant media clinic, it woke Toby up. I don't think he knew why he was there until then.

First episode I saw, I picked Lukas as the most talented, but Gilby summed up the real problem in the writing clinic. In true Lukas fashion, he showed up with half a song. I think Lukas could hold his voice like that for 2 hours, it's the 30th hour on the 15th show of the tour that I would be concerned about.

Magni looks tired and that he has accepted that he lost, but won so much else. If he had been in the bottom 3 he would have been gone, he seems to feel that way. They look like they know the pecking order, which is interesting.

Was it Toby who said that SN is going for a beer party band? That's what it sounds like to me. And Toby is better for that than Lukas. And I think the writing clinic clinched it for him.

I'll be happy with either Toby or Lukas. I'll be stunned if it's Magni, but happy too. He was my early favorite.

Dave - I hope you do play on Storm's Album. That would be awesome!!! Great blog here. Glad I found it.

I watched rockstar: inxs last year and said NO ONE could ever have the stage presence as Michael Hutchence. ONE year later and I have to admit I was wrong. LUKAS ROSSI has IT and MORE. Lukas is completely mesmerizing on stage. I cant wait to see what he is going to do next. I agree w/ everything Storm said on the interview. Lukas stimulates me everywhere imaginable.

Posted by: LUKASROX at September 9, 2006 12:33 PM

I would listen and watch Lukas forever. I replay his performances more than anyone else's.

Anywho, is there a transcript of the Dave Navarro & Storm Large radio interview anywhere?

Also, to Storm, how sweet is your comment to Dave on SN show, about "I'll miss you most...Scarecrow." I just love the reference to 'Wizard of Oz'. That was the most touching scene.

Posted by: mad8 at September 9, 2006 12:38 PM

This was written by someone else BUT totally sums up HOW I feel and I am sure there are others who feel the same too!!!!!

Very rarely does an artist come along that canrip your heart out and leave you gasping. Lukas is that...he shares what's deep inside his guts and soul, taking risks nearly no other artist today is willing to take. From that incredible voice to his stage mannerisms, he is possessed by some wonderful demon that conjurs up the primal scream inside his fans. Watching and listening to Lukasis like having soul sex. Lukas makes me wonder where the hell my soul has been for all these years. I'm grateful he slapped me awake (I think-I haven't had these emotions in a long long time.)

Posted by: lukasisarockstar at September 9, 2006 12:39 PM

Dave I really enjoy getting to hear your thoughts. It is awesome that you take that kind of time for us. I was just wondering why you are unsure if you could listen to Lukas for a two hour set. I have been listening to a lot of his stuff non stop. I bought my tickets to see Supernova in Chicago mainly hoping to get to see Lukas for two hours. I was going to wait to buy them until I saw if he won, but knowing that PC was going and getting to see you and TLEE I figured I couldn't loose. So I would LOVE for Lukas to win. But either way I still get to see you and TLEE and all your sexiness. Much Love!

Man, I almost had a heart attack when Lukas was in the bottom 3. I fell off my couch. He is the best one there, hopefully SN sees that.

Posted by: Charli at September 9, 2006 12:45 PM

I agree with the above comment about listening to Lukas for hours. I have actually listened to him for hours. I have all his songs on my mp3, all from his old bands Cleavage and Rise Electric, and all his performances on RSSN. I could listen to them forever, no problem.

There are times I listen to Bored and Gorgeous 8 times in a row. And not get bored. Thats good music.

Quoting *oops, lost the name* above:

"IAN ASTBURY IS AN AMAZING SINGER. Grrr to who put that he was a crap singer."

Hell yeah! She Sells Sanctuary really highlights this strong, clear, smoothe and sexy voice!

Quoting raquetgirl, quoting me:

""Anyway, I realize I'm going out on a limb here... my hubs who is a very HARSH critic told me he hears a little Freddie Mercury in Toby's voice while listening to the SN track he did, Be Yourself and 5 Other Cliches, which YOU said he killed. "

That's a tiny, fragile little limb, IMO. Toby isn't fit to lick Freddie Mercury's boots if a vocal comparison is made. His voice doesn't have a fraction of FM's range and emotiveness. But to be fair, whose voice does?"

Key word (or acronymn) IMO... yes your opinion. I got a laugh out of it. Boot licking, kinda harsh. I said a LITTLE Freddy Mercury. If you pay a close listen and take off those cruddy filters, you'd hear it too. But how many times did you actually listen to Be Yourself and 5 Other Cliches?? None, is my guess. *There's probably some nasty retort to follow this.*

Dave, I always think it's asinine when people start a dialog on your blog, LOL!! Sorry. But why do people just make rash commnets if they haven't done the research? If she had, her comment would've indicated so.

Dave if you're interested, give that track a listen. You gotta be curious... c'mon, dude. Since you made those comments about Toby killing that track PLUS you say he has a voice I am ONLY interested in your opinion in this matter.

I'm just thankful Supernova introduced ME and the world to Storm Large. I'm thankful for Youtube that allowed me to fall in love with her music and performances. And it's all because she said six letters.... Google. By the way, you can pre-purchase Storms music from her Myspace page...

Lukas doesnt have the voice, listen to the Bon Jovi song he did, can you say TERRIBLE.

I say Toby wins

Posted by: John Buffam at September 9, 2006 01:16 PM

Last but totally not least! I have bought my tickets to see you and Panic Channel in Chicago. My handsome 22 yr old son wants to go to it with me alone! No girlfriends or spouses along. Just us. I took him to his first concert when he was 10. His choice and it was Motley Crue. Now we get to enjoy a show again together and its you Dave! We both love the CD. More important I am banking on Lukas to take this thing so I can see him. If its Dilana I might have to use the restroom for a long smoke instead. I can't do handle her. She was cool for like two shows. As far as not spending 2 hours watching or listening to Lukas. Been there-done that. I watch his video's, all of them, daily. You can't take your eyes off this boy. If I was younger..............okay I will not say. But that is the sexiest, most captivating young man to have graced my TV screen in a very long time. Refreshing, uninhibitated, and he has such great hair! His track with SN is the only track so far that even had a hint of chart maker potential. I have seen everyone in my 50 years. I mean everyone. As awesome as Bowie's Ziggy, Lukas falls into that same catagory. Earlier Alice was mentioned. Yes I had the fun as a teenager to tour with Alice and the band (best friends uncle was his body guard back then) and his show was amazing as well. Lukas will be the star with or without SN. They need him more then he needs them at this point. We will follow you Lukas. My money is ready to spend.

Dave-- Thank you sooo much for your interview with STORM FUCKING LARGE!! I threw up in my mouth the night she was eliminated and have been moping around ever since. This was a bright spot in my day.
SHE IS A ROCK GODDESS AND WE ALL LOVE HER!!! GO STORMY!!!! Greatness awaits you!!
Thanks Dave.

I have listened to NOTHING BUT Lukas Rossi for quite a while now. In fact, my daughter has the radio on loud right now in the living room and I find everything on it extraordinarily irritating. I'd like to hurl it with it's crap songs out a window. (It's polluting the incredible audio ambience I've created around here recently with my Lukas music)

Posted by: Paula at September 9, 2006 01:19 PM

On second thought, my money is with Dilana. She has the high rock vocal range, big deal if she has a big mouth, Ahem, Axl Rose, Tommy Lee, Vince Neal, most do

On top of that her picture with the band on Tommy's site seems to point somewhere. Lucas can go back to cookin wings

Posted by: John Buffam at September 9, 2006 01:19 PM

When I see Lukas on stage, I am captivated- I can't take my eyes off him. He is so talented in his arrangements, song writing skills, stage performance, and interviewing skills. He is original and takes risks. NO ONE could have done what he has done with his arrangements. And yes, Dave a lot of us can listen to him all day. I love his work on Creep, Bittersweet Symphony, Headspin, Lithium, etc...Who else could have gotten through LOAP with grace? You should check out his work on Cleavage and Rise Electric. It is better than anything SN has presented. All the other contestants who have left the show praise him as most deserving and having the "goods." When I watch the webisodes, I see him deliver songs and melodies that blow the others out of the water. He has something special and if SN doesn't take him, I hope he gets another deal- a better deal. I won't be following SN; I will be following Lukas. I won't be alone.

Toby is a great guy, but his voice is thin. Mr.Brightside was weak. I'd like to party with him, but I couldn't watch him for 2 hours or buy his music. If he did not have gimmicks like girls on stage, walking through the crowds, megaphone, etc., he would be gone by now. If they pick him, it should be Popstar SN.I think the SN guys are a little too mature to be be-bopping Toby's original which is so teeny bopping. Toby would be a good pop star or a warm up act. He is a lot of fun.

Magni is a great singer who shows a weak stage presence. He is solidly mediocre on stage. I can't get excited about or remember his performances. It is like SN said. It is the "same." It is great he has a major career in Iceland; I don't think he is right for this gig.

Dilana is wonderful on stage a lot of the time and sometimes she is just "OK." She doesn't seem to do well under pressure and she has delivered some poor performances. She can't write a decent song and she definitely does not have her housemates' "back." I think she'll crumble on tour and SN REALLY needs a songwriter.

I love you Dave, butI feel like you are back pedaling on your earlier opinions and I find it hard to believe that after all of those weeks of performances, Tuesday night is such a determining factor in your mind. I am beginning to think you sway with others' opinions.I just hope Lukas gets what is best for him. He is an outstanding writer, performer, and entertainer. I will spend my money on him. Rock is dying- at last, someone new has captured our attention.

Does anyone know where we can buy Lukas' music from his prior bands?

Posted by: Critic at September 9, 2006 01:24 PM

"At this point I'd rather watch the show on Sunday (Tuesday) and see what the final four bring us before I make my final assessment."

Dave, you have had weeks of performances to help you make your assessment. What on earth could one more Tuesday bring. Tommy has already said they have now agreed on a singer. The last performances will not change that now. So go ahead and give your assessment.

Posted by: HelterSkelter at September 9, 2006 01:58 PM

I have to agree with what Sue said above. SN needs Lukas more than he needs them right now. Their tour will be sold out regardless because of the awesome HB, top four Rockers, and the Panic Channel. The problem for SN will come into play when they release their CD. So far, not one of their songs has the potential to make the Top 30 on the radio/charts.
*****

They need an edgy, modern, talented, songwriter to rearrange what they've done so far by fixing the melodies, eliminating the Hey Ho's, and most importantly rewriting their lyrics. The backing tracks are actually pretty decent for a three piece band.
*****

Lukas can do this for them if they are willing. However, I'm not sure that they are open to this plan of action.
*****

Should be not be chosen, he has 57 songwriting credits to choose from in preparing a solo CD which can be released immediatley following the SN tour.
*****

I'm confident that there will be a bidding war from record companies to sign this guy.
*****

Lastly Dave, I call "bull" on your comments re; whether he could listen to Lukas voice for two hours. You've already said on more than one occassion that you would hire Lukas if this was your band. Secondly, the sound mix on the TV does not reflect what the LIVE audience is hearing.
*****

One of Lukas more ardent haters (from Rockband) attended her first LIVE taping last week and she was blown away by how amazing Lukas sounded. She asked the regular attendees if he always sounds this good and was told YES!
*****

I want Lukas to get this job only if he really wants it. And, only if he'll have the opportunity to modify this music to make it worthy of our hard earned money. If not, I will happily save my money until he releases his own CD.
*****

I really like and respect "most" of the remaining Rockers (plus Storm). I hope they all take this amazing opportunity and enjoy a lifetime of doing what they love.
*****

BTW, I'm enjoying the Panic Channel CD. It's very different than what I expected (in a good way).

Thanks for letting us vent. LOL

Hey Dave,

Thanks for that interview with Storm; I was one of the ones who snapped at you when the voting servers were crashing, and now I apologize. It's obvious you love her just as much as I do, if not more.

I wasn't planning on buying Supernova tickets before, but the chance to see you and TPC and Storm (and Magni. And Toby.) live? I just might have to get in on that.

Rock on, dude.

Dilana - 1,087
Toby - 3,582

I LMAO listening to the Storm interview. People at her fan site were trying to transcribe and then couldn't get through. It was hysterical. Then the Admin got it on tape which was great especially for those of us who live in the boonies with modems could hear it.

Storm certainly has a way with words and so does her father. What was that "ready to get a plane ticket to LA to get a hold of you and twist your dick around a bic lighter."? Now we know where she gets her quick wit from.

You tried to stay strong, but alas you were Storm struck and became a fan. Join the club. Forced my boyfriend to listen to Storm stuff and interviews with promises to punish him if he did. He finally got Storm struck too. He gets a kick of the little BDSM inuendos ... it helps him feel normal. :-)

Listening to the tape of your pod and radio staion also got him motivated. He used to be a professional DJ (I warned him ahead of time that you weren't and not to judge) ... Anyway, he really wants us to get the hell out of these hills we live in and go back to civilization so he can listen to stations such as yours and eventually have one himself. (Nothing but one ISP out here and can't even get cellular unless I drive 2 miles up the dirt road hill behind me.)

BTW: One of my boyfriend's claim to fame was being the first DJ ever to play Alice in Chains and it was on simulcast. His other one was playing an Ozzy tune on Sunday in the Bible Belt back in the 80's. That was a no-no for that station at that time and since has changed.

Thank you for the work you do on Rockstar, your site, promoting the music that corporate air wave glutton pigs won't put in circulation, and inspiring my boyfriend to go back to his passion ... braodcasting music.

:-) You're O.K. Dave.

Hi Dave
Would like you to think of this for a moment.
What at great stage performance from SN when Magni performed with them! Specially Gilby , he really showed us style and he is a real pro. Now I understand what they mean when they tell Magni to show more stage presence.

Excerpt from an interview with Storm,

ReX: Nice! [Laughing].... So... Who's gonna win Rock Star Supernova next week?

Storm Large: Although Toby is coming on strong right now, I think it's going to be Lukas.

Lukas just has the emotional edge... The peaks and valley of emotion come through Lukas. Plus, he's got the flamboyance and Lukas can be all-encompassing. Toby is a tad too 'Rah-Rah' for me.

Could it be that Lukas has fans that spend more time online than the others? I know a few, who I have a lot of respect for, and I mean this in a loving way, they just spend a lot of time online posting, and dialogging with one another. I don't think # of posts means much here. He was in the bottom 3 while Toby and Magni, who have less posts on RB according to your research, were not.

Oh geez, slap me. I hate it when commenters here dialog with one another. Here I am getting sucked in again. LOL!

OKAY, I realize this is hundreds of posts later and someone may have answered this already, but to the one who asked who the fuck is Raiana from Khz? where have you been? under a rock? stuck in a block of ice? hangin out with Bin laden? Dave talks to Raiana almost every show and if he doesn't he plays one of Khz's songs ON the show and they've hosted two SRL's already. If you'd like to check em out..go to thekhz.com, speech over.

It would be impossible for Lukas to be in the bottom 3 based on any number of idicies that you can run especially in relation to Magni. So no I don't buy that he was in the bottom 3.That was just a way to get all 5 on the show otherwise someone would have been left out.

DAVE IS TOO BUSY to be reading thousands of posts... he is one of the busiest musicians around. This is all very charming but it is "simulated interaction" , and not enought people playing nice either.
Man, Lukas had BETTER win, by the looks of things, or cities will burn!!!
-1 notorious drummer
-1 ex-metal pro bass player
-1 very critical yet mediocre guitarist
-1 unlucky singer chosen to deliver instantly forgettable songs
= SUPERCOMA.

There is no shot in hell Lukas was actually in the bottom 3 last week. We have no way of ever really knowing who gets the most votes and u know damn well they just put him in there to make the show seem more interesting and not a run away, its purely a ratings strategy. There is no way you will EVER convince me that fucking magni got more votes then Lukas, i dont care if all of iceland voted for him. NO chance in fucking hell, and my point will be proven this week when lukas is back as the top vote getter. And it makes me sick because someone as great as him should never have to stand up in a bottom 3, that was a disgrace.

Posted by: Savvy at September 9, 2006 05:11 PM

JESUS...settle down OuTRIGHT...

Ultimately what does it matter? Voting ONLY determines who sings on the the Elimination show and if you think your "skunkboy" is so damn good what does that matter? If he is that good, he will sing, and Supernova will tell him he is safe and to go sit back down. The voting is only a small part of the game...The band ultimatly picks who they want...that is why they have 3 people to pick from each week so that anybody that is as good as you think he is can't get eliminated based on one bad week.

ROSSI WINGS;
-5 lbs chicken wings, shaped to look like microphones
-2 tbsp battery acid
-3 tsp Dilana phlegm (chilled)
-quarter cup hair gel
-pinch of crushed red pepper
-quarter cup of Magni forehead blood
-1 tsp tears, preferably from Storm but Jason's will suffice
-1 crushed bitter pill, order from Ryan Star's fan club
-1 tbsp white vinegar from Rockstar mansion
-fifth cup of water (from Tommy Lee's swimming pool)
Arrange wings on baking tray. Whisk together remaining igredients and pour over wings. Allow wings to sit at room temperature for 36 hours, then cook for 15 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
Serve to Mark Burnett at gunpoint.
(this damn show is only entertaining, people, if we can laugh at it while being manipulated)
Now let's see someone's recipe for Magni Chili.

How can people on a Dave Navarro website root for Lukas Rossi to be the lead singer for... Supernova? Supernova! Supernova??

If Lukas Rossi is as good as you all (and I) believe he is, why would we want him fronting the guy who brought us... Motley Crue? And it isn't like the other two had much to do with [ahem] Metallica, or G & R.

Comon now. Really. Wouldn't we want Lukas playing with the man who gave us Jane's Addiction? One Hot Minute? Trust No One? People, what can you be thinking? Have you actually heard those Supernova "originals"?

Vote for Toby, and vote often!

Posted by: davis-vautrin at September 9, 2006 05:54 PM

that song of toby's is juvenile. the hohoho bit makes me cringe.

it has that irritating quality that sucks people in immediately - and then 3 weeks later, you totally hate it. like yellow submarine and puff the magic dragon.

he has no depth and no individual approach. australia has much more to offer up than this boy-wanker. i can say this, because i see people like him on a daily basis and know to steer clear. give him a few years and he'll have a mortgage in tract housing and voting without thinking, ignoring the "little woman".

storm's song was lyrically interesting and musically demands respect.

lukas's song becomes more interesting as the time goes on. like a classic. he would be a continual stimulus.

i love magni - he is such a nice human. he doesnt have any "glitter". i guess that's why he seems so nice. what you see is what you get. he doesnt stut - and that is a good thing in day to day life - but if you want to sell the image - it's not going to work.

dilanah is a strong woman. she doesnt have a metaphorical approach to lyrics - but she can be helped by the other nova guys. she is interesting and people stop to watch her.

Comment all you want about who is going to win but this post from yesterday thread reveals it all, and it AIN'T PRETTY

Hey all the fix is in!!

Tommys website has let it slip that Dilana is to be crowned new lead singer for Supernova.

Check it out at www.tommylee.tv

There are three rotating pictures on the entry page. Two are of TLee spray painting grafitti the other is of him with Gilby, Jason and Dilana in a album cover pose.

Disgusting and appalling that they would bring on this one dimensional hag.
I feel that I have wasted my summer following this shit!!!!

I guess this proves that they are not serious in making this a legitimate long term band but rather they are focused on this as a short term project.

Dear OuTRiGHT, how old are you? Please finish highschoole before you start writing messages here. And for you and only you, LUKAS is soooo boring, big time, why is he in this competition in the first place??? Because numero uno you have to be able to sing fcol. It would be great if Lukas´s fan would stop bashing other competitors and just talk about how "great" he is instead.

Rossi Wings!!

Hilarious!!!

I love it!

I think it's supposed to be a "fifth" of "water" from Tommy's pool.

You guys are awesome with your arguing about the show!!

HaHA!

I don't think message board postings necessairly represent the way viewers feel about the rockers. All of my musician friends who watch the show respect Magni the most, but don't post on MB's about him.
I think the majority of Lukas, Toby and Dilana's fans are younger than Magni's fanbase. That isn't to say there is anything wrong with that. The younger group translates into a lot of CD and concert sales.

Posted by: madamex at September 9, 2006 06:25 PM

Checky, did you bother to look at it for more than five seconds? There are "album cover" pix of SN with ALL of the top 6 contestants. RElax.

Posted by: dee at September 9, 2006 06:27 PM

I'm not sure why there's even going to BE a final performance show, considering that TLee has said they've already chosen a winner. Why make the contestants go through the anxiety of performing if there's no way a public vote will influence their decision? I think the Dilana pic on tlee's site is very telling. I don't get the love affair with her voice, either. It's way over-played acid rock. And the band falling all over her for being so brave as to sing with a hurt leg...um...it was her LEG, not her THROAT. The little Rockette kicks she did were lame. And that's what performers do. If they're hurt or sick, they still go on. It's part of the job, not something worthy of a shrine being built.

Dave, if SN has already chosen Dilana and TLee put that pic on his website prematurely, he will have single handedly destroyed any respect or credibility the show has earned over the past 2 seasons. In essence, he's already told the voting public that SN doesn't give a flying fuck what they think, SN has already made the choice. Yep, AFTER the show last season, INXS said that they'd pretty much settled on JD, but they didn't give it away in interview before the final episodes were even taped. Lame Lame Lame.

I don't care who wins at this point as long as it isn't Dilana.

Posted by: Jaded at September 9, 2006 06:34 PM

Dee,
Yes there are pics for the others but they are in relation to the show recap article. Is it not a little suspicious that Dilana is featured with the boys on the main picture frame of the entry frame?? It has me wondering

Posted by: checky at September 9, 2006 06:41 PM

I guess its true Madamex- the message boards don't show how many others feel about the rockers. There is a huge gap between Lukas and the other performers on Rockband and Rockstar Supernova but it could be because those fan groups have fans who like to discuss their favorite more. Most likely its because Lukas is more sexually appealing than the others & his fans want to talk with like minded fans about every little thing he does. Like Dave for example.

Posted by: Lukatic! at September 9, 2006 06:44 PM

HEY DAVE,
TRUE FAN HERE, I hate that people are believing that Janet Charleton crap - the boards are getting a lot of hate , rumors, rumors everywhere.
Mad respect for your opinions and the contributions you make to the show RSSN.
I however have been listening to Rise Electric and CLeavage non stop for 2 months now and have not grown tired of his voice.....I am not a teeny bopper , 42yrs. old, still love the old rock and listen to chile peppers, my Janes Addiction and Metalica, but feel Lukas will be a force to be reckoned with on the music scene.....you said it best that he had a foot in yesterday and one in todays....much peace, love and sucess

I think it's lame to think that SN WOULDN'T have the person picked.....of course they have. Why be mad at that? We all have our favorites, why wouldn't they? Most of the people who write on these blogs sound so dumb with their f-bombs and insults. Talk about drama.....It's not the performers who have it- take a look at the people writing here!

Posted by: Cherrycoke at September 9, 2006 07:14 PM

Hi Dave,
I think it'd great how you have provided a forum here for people to vent or just tell you what they think. Kudos to you!

Over on the Supernova blogs we have no way of knowing if anyone ever reads what people write there. Jason and Gilby have written a few blogs but they haven't changed in a while now. They never respond to the comments or even acknowledge them, unlike yourself. You have been very accessible and that's awesome dude!

Now on to your recent entry.

I am astonished that you do not think you could listen to Lukas Rossi for 2 hours. Many of us listen to him for many hours at a time and are perfectly fulfilled by that. Now if you had said "I don't know if I could listen to 2 hours of Lukas with Supernova" that would be different. He, of course, would be singing their songs which, unless you haven't noticed, haven't impressed the masses much yet.

I love listening to Lukas's music but it is different to the stuff Supernova has shown us and for that reason only maybe Lukas isn't the right choice, given they need a songwriter to flesh out the Cd they plan to make and the concerts they plan to give. Not sure Lukas would want to continue in that vein, his stuff is just so much deeper and well... better. If he had a say in the arrangements and some lyrical rewrites, as well as using his own songwriting skills, I can see him shine with a great band like them behind him. But I think that's what they'd be...behind him.

On the other hand I could certainly imagine Lukas playing with someone like yourself, which would make for a more even playing field, considering how awesome you are as well. Oh, I forgot, you don't like his voice so I guess that idea is out.

Hey, hey, my, my...

Some people seem to suffer from delusion in here.

ROCK GODS better burn out than fade away.

ROCK GODS die before they get old.

ROCK GODS are larger than life.

ROCK GODS don't fabricate or maintain controversy: they ARE controcersial, they LIVE AND BREATHE controversy.

Elvis's pelvis, Lennon saying Beatles bigger than Jesus, Stones + Hell's Angels at Altamont, Morrison flipping off CBS and Ed Sullivan...

I could go on and on.

They do get PAST the controversy in the end, let it die, and move on to bigger and better things... ROCK MUSIC.

I can't judge or blame people who are Dilana fans: you can like her, it's a free country after all.
You can worship her, start a cult and move to Dilanaville for all I care (I hear the Kool-Aid there is very good, lots of flavors and colours). Just don't put her (or Lukas or Storm or anyone else for that matter) in the same league as Hendrix, Joplin, The Who, Zeppelin, or more recent 'legends' like U2, Nirvana, Metallica and The Police.
Come back here in 20 years and THEN we'll talk about it (I'm sure Dave will still be around - might need a bit of dye to keep all that black hair shiny, though).

If you're stil delusional and want to shove your 'saviour', remember this:

ROCK GODS don't apply for a job on Reality TV.

Posted by: Bloumeister at September 9, 2006 07:29 PM

I think it should have been Storm.. They made a mistake in my oppinion. Hell they all said they would play with her so what's the problem?

Dave- I was just over on the RS:SN website and I watched the little video they have of you talking about the show....however, I have to say, I was so in awe, looking at your gorgeous complexion that I didn't hear what you were saying and now I have to watch it again. What is your secret to such beautiful skin? ...aside from just being born that way.
I've been following you on the web for years now. Your web pages have made plenty of boring workdays bearable. The way you interact with your fans is awesome. Thank you...You're cool as fuck!
Also, I loved the interview with Storm. I was disappointed that they let her go, but I believe she will go far on her own. The exposure she got from doing the show will get her going. I was glad to hear her say she was heading into the studio ASAP...can't wait to hear what she does.
Thanks Dude, for just doing what you do so well...being Dave.

Posted by: deb in kc at September 9, 2006 07:33 PM

And let me add this:

Rock FANS listen to GOOD music, whether it's sung by a South African Cyndi Lauper clone gone sour, Frosty the Iceman, a boy-toy kangaroo or the Lucky Charms leprechaun.

(I've managed to piss off fans of everyone left in the contest, just to be fair to all)

I'll buy SuperNova's album IF it's any GOOD, no matter who sings. I'll buy a Storm Large or a Ryan Star CD IF the music on it ROCKS.

I bought The Panic Channel CD a few weeks ago even though I don't enjoy the lyrics and the guy who sings them (sorry Dave, but Steve Isaacs doens't have "it", that "edge" you were talking about a few days ago). Some songs sound great, others are quite weak (did someone lose a bet and had to let tracks 12 and 13 on the record?), but in the end, I enjoyed it. It's a good album. Not a classic, but it's GOOD ROCK MUSIC.

Anyone that'll tell me or anyone else on this blog that they won't buy SN's record or won't go to their concerts BEFORE they actually HEAR the record are plain assh... (won't go there)
are f'n' ret... (how can I say this politely?)
should just keep their comments to themselves.

(now, that wasn't so hard, was it?)

We're now down to who has the most downloaded songs on MSN? The most bloggers/comments? Come on, people! Get a f'n' life!

As I've said before (time and time again), just ENJOY THE DAMN SHOW. When's the last time that rock music has had that much exposure on TV? Have you watched MTV, MuchMusic or any awards shows lately? Where's the rock? Stop getting mad at Mark Burnett, Dave or Supernova for song content, editing and showing people in a bad way.

JUST SHUT UP AND WATCH IT. If you don't like it, close the goddamn TV and get the F*CK out of here.

And now, let's get back to more serious matters:

It's time for "FIND A NICKNAME FOR GILBY"!!!

Posted by: Bloumeister at September 9, 2006 07:39 PM

No, no nasty retort. It's my opinion. You paint me as being uneducated in my opinion. I have listened to every Queen song out there and Toby has not even a hint of Freddie Mercury. IMO. That 5 Cliches song doesn't even remotely bring up FM in my eyes, but I understand that your opinion is different. I heard the limitations in Toby's voice when he sang Mr. Brightside in a high, clear voice without any of the emotionality that the original brings. Making a comparison with Freddie Mercury just doesn't fit, again, IMO.I like Toby but wouldn't bring never bring FM's voice into the comparison. FM had an unfucking real range and emotionality that no other rocker can touch. Toby is good but he doesn't belong in that categroy. Thanks for writing me off as uneducated - that made me laugh the way my response surely made you laugh. I am curious as to why you don't like dialogue on this blog - is it all about leaving a message, then fading away? I think's Dave's fantastic or else I wouldn't be here, but if you make a statement like that, someone might respond.

Posted by: racquetgirl at September 9, 2006 07:41 PM

Hey Dave...Awesome that Panic Channel has been added to the Supernova Bill...Really look forward to seeing you guys at Massey Hall in Toronto. Don't know if you have ever played there in the past (maybe not) but the acoustics are second to none...A totally radd live venue...Ask Luke about it...He should be stoked since he'll be playing there (I'm hopin)...A Toronto Landmark. Can you give us any insight as to who of the past rockers will be joining you guys on the tour...Like how far back will you be going....Obviously Storm and Ryan will be there (gotta be). But who else??? Inquiring minds need to know...As far as who of the past rockers will do the encore next week, so hopin it will be Storm. Would'nt it be cool if you guys could keep good on your promise to back her up on Sufferjet City...Cummm Onnn!!! Do it...OK, you and Gilbey can do dual lead guitar...Kinda like Thin Lizzy...Harmonize guys...Loved your interview with Stormy...Her comments on Lukas were dead on (like you said, you've been doin it for the past 20 years...Has it really been that long? How time flies when you're havin fun...eh...). I cannot believe the number of people that are so fuckin psyched for the season finale...I can't believe I am so fucked up over it...I keep tryin to tell myself, cumm on Laura, it's just another reality show but NOOOO....You get so caught up with these people. They're all beautiful and you want to know them... They feel like part of your life... Somehow more so this year for me than Rockstar INXS last year...Although I love INXS and JD. I think it was the fact that I couldn't get past (and it's my own issue) that they could never replace Michael Hutchence...They are doing great though and I wish them nothing but success... I think that is why I was so much more into this season as the band was not trying to replace anyone as there was no one to replace... When I went to buy my tickets for the show (which I might add are pretty shitty but will have to work on trading them in with the scalpers) the person at the booth said hey what a great marketing strategy. Selling tickets to a concert that you don 't even know who'll be fronting the band and she proceeded to let me know that she hoped it would be Dilana... So there you go, not everyone on T.O. is on the Lukas Rossi love train (most are though),,. Anyway, all the best with Panic Channel, not that you'll need it.. From what I've heard from you guys it sound very new and fresh... Take care dude...Love from Toronto...Laura...

Posted by: Laura P. at September 9, 2006 07:45 PM

I think all the remaining rockers are good.
Dilana - Strong voice and very different of many other singers.
Toby - Hot and fun. He is probably one of those guys that you could always have a good time with.
Lukas - Powerful, emotional...and makes you stop and watch him no matter what you are doing.
Magni - Awesome voice. Reminds me of a lot of artist currently on the charts.
I'm 34 years old and have listen to these guys most my life. I know their edge, their stage power and the draw of a crowd. For this band I believe the best fit would be Lukas. I think all the others will have a great career in the music bus. But Lukas has many fans...young...old and some where in between. I think that is a smart combination for an awesome band.

YAY...BLOUMEISTER'S BACK!
Hey man, I tried to liven things up with my Rossi's Wings recipe and nobody took the bait; too busy being pissy and frantic. If Lukas is such a shoe-in, why can't we just relax and savour the inevitability of it?
Back to Gilby;
-Giblet
-Wilma
-Over the Hillby
-NOvarro (from last night's list)
-South Park Jesus (someone else's suggestion... love it!)
-Fill Me
-2 String (the other four are just for looks)
Okay Bloumeister, whatchya got buddy?
Peace out,
RT in Toronto

Boy Dave, you sure pissed off the Lukas fans. Actually, I was really surprised at your comments concerning Lukas, seeing that one time on SRL you said he would win. A little fickle huh babe?

I am so glad to see Lukas' fans defend him. I hope you guys will be voting all night Tuesday like I will be. LUKAS ROSSI ROCKS MY WORLD!!!

RT... loved the recipe!

About the Magni chili: some would say it's too mild. Lots of spiced needed in order to get people to eat it. Maybe gaspacho (a dish served cold, for the ignorants who haven't left this blog yet) would be more like it...

Absurdist intellect is STILL intellect! This site is awash in estrogen and wrath... a beautiful, dangerous cocktail (emphasis on first half of the word)... Dave needs these little humour breaks, just in case he is whacky enough to read all this tripe.
Dilana should be the one with the killer chili recipe, seeing as she hangs out in the great state of Texas these days, but I've heard it's dangerous to eat hers (chili, that is) because of all the glass flying around.
Boy, this place is one large shit STORM, no?

About the Toby VS Freddie Mercury thing:

Methinks I should find a shovel, get Freddie out of his grave and get him on the stage for Tuesday's show. Anyone got Mark Burnett's number? RATINGS! RATINGS! RATINGS!

Let's not stop there. Let's make it a "Tuesday Night Special Elimination Night" where all of the rockers go against a dead rock star!

My line-up:

Toby vs Freddie

Dilana vs Janis (bonus points awarded for who's scarier)

Lukas vs Kurt (I know, Lukas doesn't even like Nirvana: that might give him an "edge", or at least some motivation)

Magni vs Axl Rose (let's shave Axl's head just for kicks)

Wait, what do you mean, "Axl's not dead"? Where the hell has he been for the last 10 years?

I actually thought that Gilby killed Axl when Axl fired him...

NICE!!
Bloumeister's onta something! Wonder if Burnett surfs around, looking for these types of ideas... (okay, okay, he PAYS someone to do it)
Toby would have the nicer ass, but that's where it ENDS (harrr...)
Dilana and Janis could simultaneously light their hair on fire, and whoever's burns longest wins. (their vocals wouldn't change at all)
Lukas would have to be given a shotgun, to level the playing field, and enhance that all important "edge"...
Magni and Axl could have a broken beer bottle fight, with a Joe Satriani tune blaring in the background. (just to spite Over the Hillby)
woof, woof.

my contribution to the 'rename gilby' thing:

well initially when i first saw gilby i really liked him, so simply referred to him as "my future husband." i dont think he's bloodless - i just think he's probably less theatric than the others. but during the last ryan song - during the great "just gimme 15 minutes and i sure as HELL will get to the top of these speakers" stunt, the cameras cut to gilby and either he was rolling his eyes, or he was nodding off. either way, his eyeballs were in the back of his head for a split second. then he seemed to sense the cameras on him, and snapped his head back and reopened his eyes. he didnt actually shake himself alert - but he looked like he wanted to. so...my suggestion is simply; "zzzzilby".

either way, my guess is he's the next person to get voted off.

Posted by: kareyn at September 9, 2006 08:28 PM

Hey Kareyn... anyone would be lucky to be your future husband!
Zzzzilby... pretty good! I think Gilby was supressing the urge to throttle Mr. Star during the whole competition, and what we saw in that infamous clip was Gilby on the verge of swallowing his tongue
in rage.

Coming from New Zealand. It seems to me that if SN is looking for difference then it must be Dilana. Not because she is my fav but she is great to listen to and watch. She's A sexual rock chick. Down and dirty with out all the T&A. I would hope that if she made it they would come to New Zealand. She has a very large following here. I would be there for the show. God, it would be great if all 3 groups would come. Kiwis love there rock. Love ya Dave.

He're my latest GILBY entry:

Gilbo Baggins

I just read Wikipedia's definition of a HOBBIT, and it goes like this:

Hobbits are between two to four feet tall - CHECK

Their feet are furry, normal sized for their height - CHECK (I heard Gilby's so short, his hair smells like his feet)

They are fond of an unadventurous bucolic life - CHECK (28-city rock tour - how's that for adventure? Not exactly going through Hell to find a ring... but then again...)

Hobbits can sometimes live for up to 130 years - CHECK (and would explain how Ryan Star could have been with SuperComa for at least 20 years)

Hobbits also like to drink ale - CHECK (that beer to you rednecks)

Hobbits are also called 'Halflings' - CHECK

So Gilbo the Hobbit sounds good to me.

"Halfling with a six-string"

TLee would be Gollum.

And Dave would really look real amazing in the part of Aragon!!!

Posted by: Bloumeister at September 9, 2006 08:42 PM

Bloumeister-
Love the Gilby nicknames...had my hubby laughing!
let's keep them coming!

As to the ROCK GODS comments, thought the show was ROCK STAR and as we all have seen, they can do anything they want.
Whether they already have decided or not, IT was always up to SN as to who would be the singer, so whether we get a final vote or not, they will choose who they want to choose. Period.
As someone pointed out above, we got some great music and intense competition, and hopefully have launched at least 5 careers...so in the end does it really matter?

Ryan "just gimme 15 minutes and i sure as HELL will get to the top of these speakers" Star

Priceless! Best moment of the show, AFAIK.

Wonder what he was thinking, pulling that stunt.

I mean, I REALLY wonder what he was thinking!

"Does anyone have a map? Instruction manual?"

or

"Log entry, Marshall Amps ascent, day 18:

Took so long getting up here, don't have time to put my flag up. Solo's over, gotta jump!

RStar"

or

"Next time I'll just wrap a leg around the guitar player - nope, Dilana just did that"

or

"Can male singers bump and grind male musicians? Nah, forget it, I'll just climb up the amp"

or

"Maybe I should just stick to climbing pianos"

or

ADD YOUR FAVORITE

That's TWO ONGOING CONTESTS on Dave's website!

First prize winner will get a SuperNova concert ticket bought by someone who doesn't want to go see the show anymore 'cause Lukas/Dilana/Toby/their mother is not fronting the band...or not.

MY CAT ELLA IS PSYCHIC.
She has predicted the winner of Rock Star SUPERCOMA, and I divulge the results below (spoiler alert);
I printed up photographs of the remaining four rockers and carefully placed them on the floor for Ella's session.
After a half tin of tuna (chunk light, in water), some spring water (I believe it was Nestle's), and a short period of meditation enhanced by my playing a Tibetan singing bowl, she approached the four photos.
- she vomited up a large furr ball on Dilana's photo
- she raked her claws across Toby's face
- she started to squat as if to urinate over Lukas's photo, but I stopped her
- she curled up into a ball and fell asleep on Magni's picture
Okay, I admit that this is not conclusive and I am somewhat confused by Ella's clairvoyant feline findings.
Is there anyone out there who can ascertain the winner from what I have written here?

We have successfully usurped the intent of this blog and the voice of God (D.N.) will soon boom out that you, Bloumeister, and I (art carcass) have overstayed our welcomes and have been banished to the abyss. (that would be a realm without RSSN, or as WE refer to it, RSSC)
Love the Ryan riff above - brilliant!
I believe he was trying to get a better view of a particular pair of ... well, suffice to say she was about sixteen feet back from the stage.
He may have also been thinking-
"how come it looked so easy when Ted Nugent used to do it?"
I only wish he would have tried a Pete Townsend windmill when he was playing his "Back Seat Of My Pants" song... that could have gone hilariously wrong!
oh... I think I hear the voice of Dave in my third eye.

Thanks for putting the Storm interview up so quickly . I was stuck at work when it happened, so I had missed it.

utterly clear to me, rick...

ella is suggesting they form a band.

the vomiting on dilana's face is to indicate the clearing of one's throat before taking the mic, ergo dilana as lead singer. the raking of toby's face would leave 4 parrallel lines, indicating her choice of toby as bass guitarist. as for the squatting - ella wasn't going to urinate! - she was imitating a sitting position ie lukas is clearly to be the drummer. as for curling up on magni's face - obvious! lead guitarist - cause - well, hey! - you can do it in your sleep....just ask zzzilby....

:)

Hey Dave, 43 year woman here. Love Lucas, think he is great. Not attracted to him, just love his singing And style. I could listen to him for more than 2 hours. He is the only one that would get me to run out and buy a Super Nova CD when it comes out. You guys can try as hard as you want to promote the other 3, but it AINT gonna work cutie!!!! We are not buying the bullshit. but I will buy Lukas Rossi. Do as you want, but don't say that you didn't know. The public is not as dumb as the music industry seems to think we are. We know talent when we see it.

RT,

I like 'SuperComa' a lot.

Very true to what they look like whenever they play their not-so-originals. For a moment, I thought they were OK onstage, considering their families had just died, and I found that it was a classy and commendable thing to do, not to let the fans down and show up to play... then I heard it was just a rumor, that it was actually only Gilby's dog that lost a leg, and that it was Mark Burnett that cut the leg off, in an attemp to get Gilby more alive in front of the audience.
"Better get physical, Gilbo, or your poodle gets it!"

So Gilby stepped up a notch or two. No on noticed.

Gilby's poodle FiFi will be exposed in every city of their "28-date World Tour", in the lobby of the bingo halls they'll be playing in.

And when the tour's over, Dilana's got first dibs at FiFi's fur, so she can make a stage outfit out on it...

(I got all of this from a source very close to the band's pharmacist's brother's dry cleaner's customer's neighnor's co-worker's 64-year-old aunt, who's a big fan of Lukas, and who has also given the "who'll be chosen" scoop to that chick who put it up on her website, and to Regis and Kelly)

Face it, people, nothing gets done in Hollywood today before Regis Philbin greenlights it... so all you lunatics... err, Lukatics and Dilanalphabetics better be nice to Good Ole Regis if you want your "chosen one" to win!

Posted by: Bloumeister at September 9, 2006 09:30 PM

ROFL, are you so sure Ella was squatting to take a piss?;) Don't forget, Lukas IS known to be unpredictable...XD

Posted by: RiP at September 9, 2006 09:33 PM

LYRICS FOR SUPERCOMA;
"two legs, somehow join... uh oh uh oh oh ohhh...
no control, delete my groin ... uh oh uh oh oh ohhhhhh
I live to spin my smaller head.... why? why? why?
woke up alone in Tommy's bed... oh oh my eyes are red
must be somewhere in the DANGER ZONE!!!"
(tamborine, 63 degrees left, cowbell 63 degrees right)
Can anyone help out with a killer chorus?
We could make a fortune with this shit, yo?

Posted by: art carcass at September 9, 2006 09:36 PM

What on earth does Regis Philbin have to do with rock music??? I didnt know he is a rocker. Maybe he parties with Mick Jagger lol, they are about the same age arent they?

RT,

did you keep your pet shop receipt? Your cat's brain is now officially fried!

Get your money back...

or better yet, start a 24-hour clairvoyance hotline:
"Ella'll tell'ya who's SuperComa's signah"
From the looks of some of the posters here (who are inexpicably absent at this time), there's big $$$ involved!

"Just call 1-800-438-3853.
That's right, 1-800-GET-FCKD.."

This is my first time posting, but my (manyth) time reading. I really respect how you relate your opinions to your fans.

Keep up the good work, and rock on brother.

Posted by: Jcuah at September 9, 2006 09:44 PM

Kareyn,
brilliant interpretation, and I would say you are completely right except that as soon as I finished posting that, Ella squatted again and released a very messy stream of Linda Blair coloured feces onto the sweet face of Mr. Rossi... I was horrified! (very expensive oriental carpet in my Office, ya know)
(that makes YOU absolutely correct, Rip!)
I don't mean to be so harsh on Mr. Clarke, by the way... he makes more money than I do, etc. , and the little complaints that we have concerning his lack of 'ROCK ENERGY' on stage are all things that can be easily corrected.
-pyro on his side of the stage only
-taser him two or three times per set
-insert broken razor blades through his guitar strap
-have fans in the front rows hold up pictures of Navarro etc.
It's all good here on the double sixty seven.
Ella says "peace" and "down with scented clumping litter"
Bloumeister for President!
Rick Tyrrell out!

Posted by: art carcass at September 9, 2006 09:50 PM

yo Blou... Ella was absolutely fine until she heard Ryan's version of "Back Seat Of My Arse"... I noticed her flinch when he finished with that sharp pig squeal of a note, and she hasn't been right since.
Perhaps I should contact my lawyer?
See ya here for SURE after the finale... this place is going to need some irreverance!
Where da big brainz hang out,
R to the T goodnight.

Posted by: art carcass at September 9, 2006 10:01 PM

Ah but art, your dear Ella was likely just trying to give that poor sweet face some of that edge that apparently only one other contestant has, at least according to SP Jesus. Only problem is, she forgot to leave behind some hairballs too for him too, rainbow extensions require much more than just colourful excrement to really cut up the competition.;)

RT,

on a more serious note, I did play the Chili Peppers' 'One Hot Minute' (and The Cars - Easton rocks!) all day on the road this Friday, and I remembered how bummed I was when the album originally came out: not funky as RHCP usually were, no catchy songs... it wasn't "Son of Blood Sugar Sex Magic".

I gave it a chance, though, and it grew on me... all because of a certain David Michael Navarro, whose guitar work on this is arguably one of the 90's best. Multilayered, psychadelic, in-your-face, up-your-ass, subtle, powerful, deep... a truly unique record at the time, especially considering the state of rock in the mid-nighties. Maybe not the Pepper's best album, as their best work comes from more 'conceptual' albums (many of the lyrics are piss-poor, and Kiedis sounds out of it sometimes), but as far as Dave's work is concerned, STRAIGHT A's all the way. I thnik it's his best work.

People, if you consider yourselves Navarro fans (not just wannabes, teen girls or frustrated housewives), you gotta have this in your collection. Stop licking Dave's behind by saying you love The Panic Channel CD (I'm not saying it's not good, but it's certainly not GREAT) and start playing 'One Hot Minute'. You'll even forget Jane's Addiction.

To Dave: I wonder what you consider your best work. Jane's? Peppers? TPC? Trust No One? Deconstruction?
Or Carmen Electra? Heard you're into Jenna right now. Any truth to the rumor?

All right, enough already with the serious stuff (I digress), FIND A NICKNAME FOR GILBY!!!

Blou and RT-
I haven't laughed that hard in a long time between the psychic cat, still ROFLMAO, and the ways to get zzzzilby to have an wake up and have an edge...taser and all the front row holding up Dave posters get my vote.
Like the Hafling with a six-string, One string at a time and the fact that Gilby killed Axl when he was dismissed for his "writing clinics".

Dave you'd better come back on, as I cannot believe how your fans and do their best to entertain in your absence.

So, there will be a vote again Tuesday? May I ask why? They are going to pick the one they want on wednesday anyway right? why follow the formula? Just to see who is the bottom 3 of four? Obviously I didn't watch last season, HELP me Ella...Do they go to a T2 or the 3 not picked were "final four"? Someone please EXPLAIN. I really am intelligent, just not ever affected/addicted to reality tv until now.

Posted by: Sharon at September 9, 2006 11:03 PM

WOW!! Stormy... miss her already.

Anyway, regarding your post on the SN taping,
I do think that it's best to make your assessment after the show. Since it most probably will be the deciding point or unless SN has made their choice earlier.

On Toby, yes. He doesn't have the edge as much as the others do because simply, he's generic. That explains it all. Cliche??? You can say so too.

On Magni, he can sing but he isn't outstanding. He wasn't in my top 4 list at the beginning of the show. I for a second thought Ryan had better chances.

On Lukas, he has passion, he has the demanding stage presence, he is quite the musician but he can't sing. Singing doesn't involve voice quality alone. Personally, singing also means delivering the message of the song and I don't think he's been bringing that. The lyrics may be good but it would be a waste if it isn't delivered clearly.

On Dilana, she has almost everything except the strong will to move forward. She's stuck in the moment. She's always reminding people of her screw ups. Personally, i forget it every week but she keeps telling me that she screwed up, blah... blah...

Who I think is still the best choice?
Dilana still. despite the screw ups, she has delivered vocally and performance - wise. Consistency - wise, she has been bringing it.

But, is supernova seriously considering a female vocalist. I doubt.

Posted by: Belle at September 9, 2006 11:15 PM

Personally i would prefer for Lukas not to win this thing.
His songs are so indepth emotionally, although i do believe that he can sing happy pop tunes *puke* and would sooner prefer to see him perform something edgy, crazy and off the wall...something uniquely ROSSI.

Posted by: PUNKPISTOL at September 9, 2006 11:18 PM

No such thing as Freddie v Toby. The key element to my post was A LITTLE Freddie. You really need to listen to the SN track w/out visuals... just listen... A LITTLE + some David Byrne. All I was saying. That shouldn't freak anyone out. If you're curious, give the track a listen, that's all.

I wonder about the reactions to stuff like that. LOL!

Posted by: Niki at September 9, 2006 11:31 PM

The only two rockers I would pay to see fronting Supernova are Dilana (i've loved her since day one, she has an amazing voice, and she's a versatile performer--she would give a kickass 2 hour show) and Toby (who grows on me every week, and I think is probably the best choice for the band).

But I agree with the people who say Magni is boring and I have no no no no no idea why Lukas has lasted this long. He's the same EVERY SINGLE WEEK (not in a "consistency is good" way, in a boring way) and even though he has a great look, that's all he's got. I couldn't imagine listening to him sing for 15 minutes, let alone 2 hours.

Posted by: Erik at September 9, 2006 11:38 PM

Dave, bless your heart, you are so, so wrong about Lukas and bless your heart for saying it. ;o)

This has been an incredibly enjoyable thread to read and the support for this man, who has captured my soul too; is absolutely overwhelming! It's been a beautiful read, I'm proud and excited for him and for all of us heading into this week.

I do believe you meant for it to turn out this way! Now be sure to mention it to the boys!

Much love! See you in Vancouver!

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, slow day.....onlay 300+ posts. The one reason I want RSSN to end, so we can get back to normal.

I reserved a ticket for tomorrow!!! Wondering if I should even bother trying. On a normal day it got almost impossible to get in....the finale. I can't imagine they will let me in.
But I'll be alone, that might be a plus. I'll call myself Jell-O, there is always room for Jell-o, right?

THANK GAWD NAVARRO IS JOINING THE SUPERNOVA TOUR! At least 'something' about it won't suck.

RSSN Prediction: Toby will get the gig. If not him, it's Lukas. Dilana's screwed herself with bad behavior. Magni's not showy enough.

Additional RSSN Prediction: Supernova will continue to suck.

Have a listen and tell me you couldn't "feel" this for 2 hours. This is why Lukas is "IT" for his believers; this is why he touches people. This is what doesn't quite come across on TV.

He is not perfect, his vocals aren't perfect but his emotion is real, as is he, and his passion is undeniable.

Loving your blog Dave! And enjoy reading everyones comments! Look forward to experiencing 6767 Post SN!

Gilby already has a nickname. Dilby. It was coined by the dude at Storm's website. In an affectionate way, of course!

Posted by: Dilby at September 10, 2006 05:08 AM

Judging popularity by MSN or RockBand posts is stupid. Most people do not post there. Just because Lukas' fans tend to be snarky teenage girls who have all day to post there doesn't mean a thing. Why not check out STorm's forums? Her fans have their own kick ass forums, so they simply don't bother going to RockBand. There may only be 2,000 posts for her on there compared to Lukas' 30,000, but on her own site there have been almost 20,000 including the temporary board (because people keep killing the hell out of her site every time she does an itnerview anywhere!). So... eat it.

Previously posted (((((((((Okay, so I don't have anything better to do on a Friday -sad.

I think from this...it is obvious who the fans want.)))))))))

SORRY to say this- but its only obvious who the people posting in the last blog felt and on this site I could change my name a million times to vote one name- lol

Dave,

I must say that Supernova is a band I could really get behind. Go to concerts, buy a couple of t-shirts, buy CDs, hang a poster on my wall, try to sneak back stage. All of it. But, if Lukas is to be the choosen one, well, you might as well take the above and Alt Ctrl Del. Cheap Tricks aside can you quess who I would choose.

Heres to you Dave. Get'in rich, do'in good and all the while hav'in a good time. I know its hard work and not always easy. But, your still a Dam lucky son of a bitch.

May god be with you child

Posted by: Brian at September 10, 2006 06:14 AM

Lukas is by far the best rocker on the show.
Almost all of the evicted rockers endorse his incredible talent..

And check out what Kiefer Sutherland said about him..

[quote]
While working in Toronto filming political thriller "The Sentinel" with Michael Douglas and Kim Basinger, the Los Angeles-based Sutherland -- who was born in the U.K. to Canadian acting parents Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas -- has been catching some local talent. Just two weeks ago, he took in a set at Clinton's by new EMI Music Publishing (Canada) signing Rise Electric, a rock band whose singer, Lukas Rossi, used to front Cleavage (which won best Canadian unsigned band honour at NXNE 2000).

Was he scouting or there for pleasure?

"Both," Sutherland says. "I love music. When I see a band that I think fits what we're trying to accomplish with the label, obviously I'll approach my partner. The Rise Electric show, he was fantastic. That's a fantastic band and I was just walking down the street and I heard them playing and I walked in."

Told that the band is unsigned and he chuckles. "I know. I have their information."[unquote]

Found this elsewhere, pretty much sums up my experience too,

"I used to be normal. I've always spent alot of time online but my interests were varied. But..... life as I knew it - is over... thanks to Rockstar and Lukas f*king Rossi. And so I feel like ramblng a little bit here for those of you who *want* to see and feel the Lukas magnetism but just can't do it... here's what happened to me (if you care) - path of psychosis if you will. :) Follow me....

So I was searching around for info about this year's rockers... just ya know - casually curious about the talent this year. I went back and checked my "records" just now and I believe I came across this link around June 27th:

http://www.myspace.com/cleavageinc

I clicked on "Riddled" and I saw this skinny shaved head punk bustin' a move, and I thought "NEXT". But then he started singing and his voice just pulled me in. I did not expect that sound to come out of that body. [Now for those of you haven't seen or heard his stuff from Cleavage - he's not real growly). I think his voice is so unique and when he sang

"Listen real close even if it hurts
you're waiting for me in the clouds... you're invited"

- something clicked in me. I was like WOW, this guy is awesome - he can REALLY sing, he's having fun there AND he's really starting to look good to me - even though something's wrong with his hair. I watched it about 3 times in a row and by then I was convinced that I was really going to like him, I just wasn't sure his sound was going to fit with the band. So things were still cool at this point, right?

Ok, I need to speed things up, huh? So the show started (More, RAWR More) and I was impressed - wow he can get tough and hang with the band after all. Not so crazy about the jacket, but look at his mouth - so sexy, and those eyes! And that cute face:

Tommy: Can you say....... RockStar?"

Ok, so then I could feel a change... I REALLY liked this guy. I started searching around to find out more info - was there a cd available? etc. No, it didn't seem there was. But I did come here and find links to get the mp3s, the youtube video for "Lonely Ones" and the Canadian tv interview:

And I could feel an obsession starting. I made a cd and fell so in love with his voice. I especially love how he changes his voice all around within one song sometimes - from soft and sexy to loud and growly. He keeps me interested throughout. I don't want to say I have a favorite just yet because this is still the honeymoon period - but I highly recommend you check out his old stuff.

Ok, so wk 2, he came out and sang a song I wasn't familiar with and made me LOVE IT!! There aren't many lyrics and I'm still not sure if the song is sarcastic or not, but I can't stop listening to it. By the way, I am a child of the 80's - so can someone explain to me how it's possible for me to have heard Rebel Yell more times in the last 2 weeks than I ever have my entire life before RS? ;)

He sings Don't Panic"..... yet I AM starting to panic - what IF they don't pick him? What if I've been too confident? Tommy seems to like him but does he want to tour with him...? Yes, I am panicing. We do live in a beautiful world but only if Lukas is in it!

It was all over for me. I want him to win. I know, I know... 2nd place is nice because he can do his own thing and will still make it in the rock world. But I want him to win because he wants to win - AND I want to see him sing and growl for 2 hours and 45 minutes on a big indoor stage(I'm holding Jason to that since he bragged about how long Metallica shows were!). I don't want to wait around for him to get Rise Electric back together (they're missing a lead guitar) and sign a contract, make a cd and tour Candadian music festivals singing outdoors for 45 minutes. No, I must vote. Because I am an addict.

I would pay big bucks to buy his cd no matter what he looked like or what kind of stage presence he has - his music is awesome - please listen to his lyrics, his phrasing, his voice. I'm dying to see what song he'll sing next - what's he'll do with it. But I must say it is the thought of seeing him live someday that really gets me excited.

He's magnetic.

Priceless! Best moment of the show, AFAIK.
I mean, I REALLY wonder what he was thinking!

I don't like to think about it, because I still have the very disturbing image in my head but...best guess....
"Hey Kool-Aid!!!!"
Oh, maybe that's what I was thinking
Um...
"WTF, where is the mother ship?!"
and
Liked your day 18 of amp assent...but should end with "I was attacked by a giant squid."
Why don't we like Gilby? Did I miss something?

I love Lukas, but man, why isn't he singing like he did with Rise Electric on the show? He'd blow the rest of the competition out of the water. Don't get me wrong, I love his raw, rocker voice, but his Rise Electric stuff is amazing.
