"Come On In Guys!"

Well, it's finally over... Lukas won! Good for him! I am looking forward to the tour with those guys in January and February. I know that it's a little early to be talking about this for the West, but whatever... If you are reading this blog at all, you already know. Looks like this is the last time I will be mentioning this show until the tour, so I'd just like to say to those who made this their temporary home or hotel for the season, thank you for your comments, your support, your hating, for all of it. It's been fun! Feel free to check in anytime. I gotta tell you... I think they made a great choice. You know, for me, it was always between Lukas and Dilana. I would have been happy with either, even though what I think is irrelevant. Here is the thing. If the band had chosen someone I didn't like, I would have been cool with that too. I mean... It's their band. I support the guys no matter what. They are, however, my friends, so I suppose it's easier to support my friends. I guess what I'm getting at is that things are just different now. I am amazed at how angry and upset people get these days when artists make choices that they don't agree with. Put it this way, when Robert Plant did "Tall Cool One", I didn't love it, but I remained a fan of his. I certainly didn't start talking shit about him. I guess I look at artists that bring my life joy and entertainment, whether I know them or not, as friends to an extent. Plus, all the contestants on this show got an amazing opportunity. To do what they love in front of millions twice a week and for some, perform their original works of music! Plus, a handful of them will be touring with all of us in the New Year. Not a bad deal. I know, people get connected to the artists that touch them and when they don't get what the fans want for them it can hurt. I get that, so go ahead and rant if it makes you feel better. I don't mind. That is what this site is for. For you. I, on the other hand, am going to go and hang with the guys, Lukas and the rest of the contestants at our wrap party. Oh yeah... Damn, I'm gonna have to ask that Janet Charlton for some lotto numbers! She IS good! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Lukas was the right choice, you doubt there. he is an artist.

Posted by: Charli at September 13, 2006 08:30 PM

see, you already posted the press photo...she was right the whole time. whole show was a sham and the fix was in. ha ha

Posted by: EmpyreLounge at September 13, 2006 08:32 PM

Opps, I meant No doubt there. No doubt that Lukas was the right choice. He is so great, they made the right choice.

Posted by: Charli at September 13, 2006 08:32 PM

Well that photo was obviously taken soon after they announced the winner.

Posted by: Charli at September 13, 2006 08:33 PM

You know, at first I didn't think I was going to like this show as much as the one with INXS, but in it's own way, I enjoyed it more.

I liked Toby, but Lukas does have that edge that Toby doesn't.

Posted by: Andrea at September 13, 2006 08:34 PM

Good show, Dave! *pinches ass*

Posted by: merrymagic at September 13, 2006 08:35 PM

no, it was taken weeks ago just like janet said...they just had to make sure to wear the same clothing tonight or it would have been more obvious. in fact, it may have been photoshop'ed just to be sure. and look at lukas's face, you can tell he isnt happy at all that he won.

Posted by: EmpyreLounge at September 13, 2006 08:35 PM

Yeah, Lukas has the it factor, theres just something about him.

Posted by: Charli at September 13, 2006 08:35 PM

He's an "it" alright ... lol

Posted by: Cally at September 13, 2006 08:36 PM

Supernova got it right.

LUKAS ROSSI IS A ROCK STAR. Period. Thanks for coming all!

Posted by: bajatango at September 13, 2006 08:36 PM

Why on earth would they go to that trouble of taking a photo and making sure they wore the same cloths.

Posted by: Charli at September 13, 2006 08:36 PM

It is VERY obvious that was a last minute photo, and not a rigged deal. Not really elated about their choice in lead, but I still bought my ticket for the Dallas show on Feb 11. I only bought one ticket cause I'm the only one within 300 miles that I know is watching RS:SN, but that's cool. I know it will be an awesome show!

Posted by: arkiechick at September 13, 2006 08:37 PM

so yay for the canuck (im writing here from the t.dot). not a lukas fan at all, but hey. dilana got the BEST deal of the show! she rocks the house, she is incredible....a theo ala lunachicks for the 2000's. she'll do her own shit which (in my opinion) will be WAY killer. can not wait.

i love that this show gave me the chance to see these singers.

and dave. i had a huge crush back in the day. dude...it's back. GO panic channel!!!

Posted by: estrojenn at September 13, 2006 08:37 PM

Dave --

Lukas grew on me week after week, even though I was pulling for Dilana. But tonight, I won twice. I get to see both excel.

It was an awesome gesture for Gilby to offer the producing and songwriting support for Dilana's album -- and props to you as well for offering to play guitar. Almost as good as if you had asked Dilana to join Panic Channel.

Sweet end to a lovely ride of a season.

Peace.

Posted by: garvey at September 13, 2006 08:37 PM

HAHAHAHA is this a joke? until last week, you were saying "i couldn't stand to watch lukas perform for more than two hours". overnight, that changes and he's suddenly amazing. please, dave. show us some consistency. it's not always about being press' best friend.

Posted by: opa at September 13, 2006 08:37 PM

American Idol had all these celebs show up for their finale ... was Paula Abdul the only one that showed up for Rock Star's Finale Show?

Posted by: Cally at September 13, 2006 08:38 PM

im just messin guys...pokin fun at the haters since that is all garbage that they would say :)

LAmusing at September 13, 2006 07:51 PM

"Also, Lukas gets the gig, Toby gets a car, Ryan gets a car,and Dilana as runner up gets... uh...

Not okay."

I agree. Yes, she got Gilby's offer (ha, he knew he should saw write and produce NOT play guitar) but why not a car? Second place gets what? I mean that was pretty weak that Dilana and Magni got $0.

I wish Toby, Magni and Dilana well, hope they come out of it with record deals, minimum. Dave please do something with Dilana...
There was a rumor that all the 15 rockers would be there for finale...those who went to the taping were they? If not, they should have been, that would have rocked doing a "group" song...

hey, I watched the final webisode last night after the show...which showed the final four leaving the mansion...where did they go? That obviously was filmed Sunday or so....what did they have to sleep at the studio or did they get to shack up in a hotel, as a reward for making the final four?

I missed the part of last nights show...anyone who was there (Sunday)Tuesday, what was the response? Did SN or Dave talk to him? Did the rockers welcome him back? Just curious!

Dave did you record with Stormy today?
Wish I could go see you at Buzzfest in October!I am graduating with my MBA on September 25, so I keep answering "I want a trip to see Dave in Houston" when asked what I want. No one has said yes yet! Boo-hoo.

I plan on becoming family here at 6767...
Happy vacation...

DAVE

Thanks for another great season of RS. I think you made the show great again. It is a great opportunity for all involved and I love it taking Rock music and pushing it out on Prime time. I hope we see you next year.

Yours Truly

Danielle

My first post after alot of lurking all season. Dave, I think you're the best! Thanks for all that you did this these past few months. You were one of the main reasons I watched the show. Since you are friends with the guys, I'll take your word for it that they chose the right front man. I personally would've preferred someone else, but they obviously saw something I never did. Thanks for keeping it real, and good luck with the tour!

Posted by: JillyBean at September 13, 2006 08:39 PM

Good show Dave. What ever the outcome I watched to see "what's Dave gonna do tonight?" Love you Dude. See you soon. Can't wait for Panic in the Streets. There will be Panic everywhere.> Loving you Always. Peaches

Another Candian . Way to go Lukas. Thanks Dave. Looking forward to next season.

Posted by: Tracey at September 13, 2006 08:40 PM

You Know I keep seeing how Pukas has the EMO rock thing going... Look you can take a bag of shit put it in a box and slap a sticker on it and call it Rockolio cereal and all you will end up with is Shit,,, If he is what EMO is then Rock is truly dead. SuperFizzle had a chance to bring true rock back to the young generation but allas they went the cheep bubble-gum, Posser Rock, All I want is a dick to attracked 15 year olds into my bus cuz after a year we are dumpping the band type of group...

Posted by: jeff at September 13, 2006 08:40 PM

I am so fucking happy. They definitely made the right choice...and I already have their first single stuck in my head...so YAY

Posted by: greenmtx at September 13, 2006 08:40 PM

Dave, I hope that your tour with SN proves to the music critics and public that the Panic Channel deserves some attention, since they haven't noticed yet. Maybe you guys will get lucky and finally crack the top 40. Here's hoping! Good luck to all of you.

Posted by: camron at September 13, 2006 08:41 PM

Good choice, Yep, I'm happy with that. Tobes has a bright future when he finally gets his arse back home here!

Dave, just a question though.. who else will be touring with the Houseband other than Dilana? I have it in my head that it was going to be a selection of our fav performers this season, but so far only Dilana has been 'officially' asked. So can you give us a heads-up pretty please?

Gonna miss you on my tv Dave, can't wait til next years Rockstar:Find_KFed_A_Band.. haha, cheers Dave, it was a good laugh!

Posted by: chappaquiddick at September 13, 2006 08:41 PM

the thing that is going to be tough for SN is that the songs that were played on the show, people will still compare them to how Dilana, Magni, and Toby did them

Posted by: EmpyreLounge at September 13, 2006 08:42 PM

Damn! I always thought I had pretty good taste in music (in fact, I've built a career around it in radio), but I'm starting to doubt myself! I couldn't stand J.D. last season and Lukas was the only one this season that I really didn't like. Both went on to win. Maybe I should get my hearing checked...ha ha

Posted by: MJ at September 13, 2006 08:42 PM

Lukas was a great choice. All of the last 6 singers were terrific. The band just happened to think that he was a better fit; I personally, agree with them but that's my taste.

For the conspiracy people: Haven't you heard of digital cameras? Hence the instant pics. LOL. That's one prime example at making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Have a great everying all..Love will stop wars..not hating..

Posted by: Cherish at September 13, 2006 08:42 PM

I'm in the West. I'm watching the show right now...just because I want to see the process.

Dave,

Hey man, the hate here is nothing compared to what goes on in other blogs. Don't be so sensitive, you're a rocker. Usually my hangout is the Lakers blog in the L.A. Times. It gets intense in there during the season. Anyway, here's a sample of what I do with it.

http://lakersblog.latimes.com/lakersblog/2006/05/extra_extra_514.html#comments

One more thing Dave,

Paula Abdul on the show yesterday was cool. I watch American Idol, too, because I love singing competitions. You're show is different but for sure you have a hit. If there is a show next year...I'll be checking it out.

Later,
mike

Posted by: Michael Teniente at September 13, 2006 08:43 PM

Well, I was a Dilana fan, but can dig Lukas too. However - he seriously needs some vocal coaching so we can understand what he is saying and to "open up" as Jason would say. Hey Dave - I'm available to do some coaching ;)

Posted by: milwaukeediva at September 13, 2006 08:44 PM

you would think that the final 5 would be with the house band...dilana, toby, magni, storm, and ryan. ryan has been on opie & anthony a couple times, and credit them for helping him get the encore since their fans are nuts. he was on today and i think he said that the Darkhorse will ride on the SN/TPC tour

Posted by: EmpyreLounge at September 13, 2006 08:44 PM

Phew! What a great ride. A great post-comment Dave. You hit it right on the head!
I was pretty okay with seeing whom-ever and TPC on tour. The posts about selling their tixs was wild. Geez, it's just a rock show! EVS man EVS.

I took a chance bought em' early got good seats

AND

see ya in February!!

G-man - Out.

Hey Dave!

You're the man!

Posted by: Super Arturo at September 13, 2006 08:46 PM

I just don't get all the negativity and conspiracy theories. It's a show. Everyone knew only one person would be chosen. It's weird how people get so hostile...as though you had a vested interest.

Lukas is great. It's a great opportunity for him. AND for the rest of the nobodies that get on any show like this. They have their moment...so live vicariously through them. They all got farther than you! Good for them.

Posted by: Victoria at September 13, 2006 08:46 PM

Lukas is amazing!!! He sounded fantastic on the songs and for sure I will buy the CD. If they come to my area I will go to a show for sure. Wish I could see you guys too, I would LOVE that.

g'day dave
i am disappointed but hey i agree with ya dave its their band rock on dude have fun at the party

Posted by: COL at September 13, 2006 08:48 PM

Since the band needs a new name, how about:

Inconsistency.

That's what this whole season has been. Yes, it's entertaining and yes it's addicted, but YES it's been inconsistent and confusing.

Can't we just have the House Band looking for a leader next season? They are the best anywhere ever and deserve a real name and tour of their own!!!

Thanks for this place, Dave, it's been fun!

Posted by: Debbiedo at September 13, 2006 08:49 PM

Congrats to the final 4 and congrats to Lukas and Supernova...perfect fit...already pre-ordered the CD. All were talented, but Lukas just had compelling stage presence, in my opinion...

Great ending to the show!

Posted by: Sharon at September 13, 2006 08:49 PM

i love the mix. If I could take Grace Slick, Janas Joplin, and........Robert Plant.. it would be close to this.

OK so its Dave Navarro as a judge only... the rest are those tired old guys. Dilana is SO close to being a super star a small guy band wont let it happen. She takes the songs of Concrete Blond, and so many other super diva's she can not be in a band fronted by men.. she is a sole performer. I cant wait to hear her ORIGINIAL ... you know she will have one out so fast!! Love Dilana and Ryan ... make it we will BUY it.. =)

Posted by: Melissa at September 13, 2006 08:50 PM

Dave, There are just too many posts to read, but i gotta say, you looked marvelous this evening!!!
I love your attitude about "the band" I feel the same way, there was so much positive bout what happened all season, but some folks seem to keep focusing on the negative, if in the broad spectrum, this even warrants good or bad, I mean after all its supposed to be entertaining, not make or break the future of the universe. or am i missing something, and the universe nmight not exist if Magni was chosen, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, wonder what the outcomeof my existance would have been if god forbid dana was chosen!
I jest, i'm a little punchy today, but, i too am content with who ever they chose! I hope it works out for all those involved. (esp u!)
love to all, now lets get back to normal!

Posted by: SweetMelis at September 13, 2006 08:50 PM

do we know if the whole cd has lyrics? the thing that set lucas off was he creativity on stage and his originals...it would be a shame to lose that on a disc full of songs that he didnt help right. thats the thing that jumped off about JD, he wrote the first single

Posted by: EmpyreLounge at September 13, 2006 08:50 PM

I am so freaking happy right now! I cannot wipe the smile off of my face!! My sweet Lukas won! BOOOOYA! I am so happy for him, and was ecstatic to see how happy and honored he was to become a part of that band!! Now I need to go pre-order my CD and see if I can get some tickets for the show!!

Posted by: progress at September 13, 2006 08:51 PM

I get the negativity, I'm not a fan of Lukas but this show expected 2.5 hours a week(two shows plus webisodes) PLUS live.spaces PLUS the little fashion videos etc... PLUS downloading music right away on music.msn.com not to mention replaying the weeks performances at work or at a friends house if they have the internet. There's a lot of time invested in this thing as a viewer, I get the emotional attachment, its cool man. Its cool.

Posted by: alex at September 13, 2006 08:51 PM

I guess with INXS we knew their style; SN was a hard show to call the lead without knowing the direction they were going in. I really thought they'd pick Toby for the "chick factor"!! What is the next band that you are bringing to our living room???

Posted by: suzq at September 13, 2006 08:52 PM

Lukas was my #1 right from week 1. Dilana was my #2. Lukas won. Eveything is right in the world.

BTW, lots of people picked JD to win last year right from the first week. Same with Lukas this year. Some just know the "IT" factor when they see it.

Posted by: bajatango at September 13, 2006 08:52 PM

I will NOT be checking out Supernova but I will check out Ryan, Storm, Magni and maybe even toby. And of course the Panic Channel!

Posted by: Lynne at September 13, 2006 08:52 PM

Hi Dave. Like some others, I've never posted here before, but I wanted to say that the show was a welcome diversion from a really shitty day here in Montreal. There was a school shooting here that saw 20 college kids shot (down the street from another college I teach at). It was awful and I cried in front of the news for an hour. On the Supernova Live Space after tonight's show there was SO much negativity, anger, vitriol--it was so depressing: why do people have to be so f**king mean and spiteful over a tv show when there is so much destructive anger out there already? So I just wanted to say how impressed I am with your voice of tolerance and respect. I wish more of the show's fans who post hate messages on the Live Spaces sites would learn from your attitude. That's it. Peace.
Amy

Posted by: Amy Reiswig at September 13, 2006 08:53 PM

Dave, I like you but Tommy Lee practically confessed to the public that Lukas was the chosen one when he said they liked his look and the way he moved on stage. I think they saw that with his first audition.

Posted by: amberwaves at September 13, 2006 08:53 PM

SweetMelis,

We all like to rant and rave but you are absolutely right - in the grand scheme of things, this is but a speck...:)

Thanks Dave for another great season,It made my night to hear there will be a season 3 now I'll finally stop asking the same question.WOW 2 Canadians pretty good eh. All the final 6 had a great talent and I hope they do well in the future. For my taste in music Lukas was the only choice. I will keep checking in from time to time.

Check Please :)

When I heard TLee say the words, "Lukas, you're our boy. Welcome."
I cried.......
TEARS OF "PURE, FUCKIN, MEGA JOY" !!

Yeayyy Lukas! He has definately earned the right to be the last one standing. SN has made an awesome decision.
I can't wait to see the concert!

Dave, when you're in T.dot, you have to focus on row 13 for my 6767 sign :)

Posted by: Li at September 13, 2006 08:55 PM

Rock on Lukas!! I was having heart palpitations during the finale, wanting him to win. For all the haters, watch the webisodes. Lukas is a fair, humble rocker. Dilana is all about Dilana. She tries to joke about it, but it gets a bit annoying. Supernova picked the winner. As for all the JC conspiracy business, PLEASE! She is so full of it. Like someone else posted here, just make a guess, get it right, and all the sudden conspiracies exist?!?! She's a nut.

Posted by: Mamaboo at September 13, 2006 08:55 PM

Dissapointed in the Lukas choice, but oh well! My guess is he'll be flippin wings again in a year or so. Not my choice! Love Panic Channel, not too thrilled ya'll are going to tour with SuperNova, is it becaue of the money?? I love your smaller intimate shows.

Saw you in Dallas and still have not recovered! All I have to say about this season is that I think you should hook up with Zayara, I think the 2 of you together would be supreme latex hotness!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: lipsticklezlie at September 13, 2006 08:56 PM

So, Dave, any word on what the band's name is gonna be now that the judge ruled against them in that lawsuit?

How about SuperEmo?

Posted by: Sonia at September 13, 2006 08:56 PM

Nice post Amy. I love that Lukas won, but let us move on from the hate like what happened in Montreal Wednesday. More love, less hate...is that too much to ask?

Posted by: myson at September 13, 2006 08:56 PM

I knew from the moment I saw Lukas performed he would win. They are lots of crybabies out there right now, but they can just suck on their sour grapes...Like tommy lee said they're are no losers on the show, its a crazy opportunity for unsigned musicans, and as long as they strike while the iron is still hot, I think we have yet to see the last of those rockers...Well some of them...

Thanks for the laughs this season, you provided lots of entertainment, and I think it's really dope that you take the time to interact with fans, you're one of the real ones...

Bring Panic Channel to the Maritimes (atlantic canada) We always get completely shafted when it comes to shows, and since we hardly get any larger acts coming through, when they do they usually sell out! The maritimes could use a little Dave Navarro...PEACE!!!!

Posted by: Mel at September 13, 2006 08:57 PM

Finally, people, get over it, if you don't like it, don't buy it, just don't tell me it sucks, if I like it great, if you hate it, that's ok too. Not all music is for all people, it isn't meant to be, music is what you want it to be. They (the band) obviously thought Lukas was the best choice. You may not have agreed, and thus do not like it. Personnaly, I like the Darkness, and a lot of poeple hate that band, does that make them any less good. No. All (and I mean all) bands are good in their own ways. So stop griping and groaning that who you wanted to win didn't win (and did you even want anyone to win at all, or are you just here to piss everyone off?). By the way Dave, love your Spread Radio Live Broadcasts.

Posted by: firebrand_24 at September 13, 2006 08:57 PM

I finally figured out what bugged me about this season. Last season the show had three days a week. There was one day that showed the contestants in the mansion with song selection and doing workshops. They briefly did that this season, but until after the playing field was narrowed. I thought that would have been a cool element to have this time as well.
Hmmm...Maybe they can do it that way next time.

O-K, Dave. Don't have a problem with Supernova's choice for their lead singer. What I do have a problem with is Tommy's claim that Lukas received the most votes. That was a boldface lie. Brooke announced at the beginning of the show that the three lowest vote getters were Magni, Toby, & Lukas. Seems like things might not be on the up & up with this show. Any comment because you strike me as being an honest man?

Could you please tour Canada in the summer, you will find it much more enjoyable. We would love to see you in Vancouver but 400 miles of icy roads may change our minds. No we don't have a dog sled but there are times in the winter I think it would be a good idea.

Congrats to Lukas, but Dilana got the best prize. Collaborating with you and Gilby on her own CD? Fan-tastic! She wont be hampered by SNs crappy songs and she will make more money this way. GOOD FOR HER!

Ill be at the Orlando show to see the Panic Channel and the House Band, then just before SN comes out to play Ill get up, leave, and go hit the bars at citywalk and enjoy the rest of the night!

Supernova were lucky to have so much talent to choose from. Unlike the last season there was no obvious choice right up until the end. Personally I don't think they could have gone wrong either way with the top three.

Kind of reminds me of that old 80's movie, Highlander .. 'there can only be one'.

Posted by: Ben at September 13, 2006 09:06 PM

firebrand, you've got to expect people to respond (positively or negatively) to a show that encourages viewer interaction.

Please, people, stop telling others not to complain about it!

The whole point of the show is to get people involved and stir up excitement. The concept is to make people talk. AND bitch. AND cheer. I guarantee that if Lukas hadn't won, his fans' posts would have a completely different tone.

Hi Dave,

Call me crazy, but up here in Canada we got royaly ripped off on the finale broadcast. Global Television advertised the finale at 8:00 pm... first half hour was a recap show and then all of a sudden Lukas was singing then Dilana etc. Somebody seriously screwed up at Global. We missed the first half hour of the final elimination show and the last half hour of the recap show. I suppose Lukas winning is a great thing for all Canadians but I'm feeling a little deprived. See you all in Toronto on January 24th... I'll be 6th row center!

Karma, what Brooke said was that at some point in the voting Magni, Tobi, and Lukas were in the bottom 2. Once voting was concluded Lukas ended up on top (of the grassy knoll). It's not rocket science.

Once again Dave, thanks for a great summer of entertainment. Look forward to seeing ya on the road, it should be a helluva tour.

Hey Dave-

Love ya. I bought the Panic Channel CD and just love it!

I find it amusing that so many people are convinced that there was a fix- do people not understand the format of the show? Also, Brooke did not say that Toby, Magni and Lukas were the bottom three- she said they had been in the bottom two at some point in the voting. Big difference. Apparently there are some slow people out there!

Anyway, keep making the music. Keep rockin! If you ever do a concert my way, I'm there!

I've loved the show all season, but can't be more disappointed about how it was handled at the end.

Imagine my surprise when only 15 minutes into the finale a commercial ran for Survivor with clips of Lukas mixed in - he wasn't announced as the winner for another 30 minutes and there was still 2 other contestants at the time! I watched this show faithfully all summer and can't believe CBS spoiled the finale like that.

As the Executive Producer, I hope you're outraged. But perhaps you're not, since you posted here about Lukas being the winner - BEFORE he was announced.

Way to reward loyal fans.

Thanks MJ, I've been known to rant once or twice myself!

Amy my heart goes out to you and all victims of the tragedy in your area. It's a shame something like that has to happen to bring some perspective. The bigger picture is always bigger than you ever actually think it is. That is the type of thing that I worry about when I see people get so over emotional about things like a reality show. It eludes to a very loose grip on reality and to how little can actually make people snap.

alex, this list of "expectations" are just options, do they want you to watch, sure. do you have to. hellz no. I am a fan of the show, but i'll tell ya, i missed alot of it. caught it when i could and I don't think the network is any worse for the wear. It's a choice you make as to how involved you are gonna get. so, do you get mad when you go to a restaurant and they have too many choices cause they "expect" you to eat all of it. no, you make a choice and be content with the outcome, whether that outcome is lukas rossi, or indigestion!!

The worst thing about tonights show......no more dave twice a week!!! more spreadradio!!!!
I'm free for soup dave, call me

Linda from San Diego, how psyhed are you!!?!?!?!?!?!

As for Tommy's comments about Lucas receiving the most votes. Maybe he meant TOTAL votes during the whole season (rather then just last nights voting)

Posted by: Ben at September 13, 2006 09:10 PM

why the big secret? dave, you said "a handful of them will be touring with all of us in the New Year". which ones?

Posted by: gw at September 13, 2006 09:12 PM

First i've got to say....

"OOOOoooooooh Canada!!!"

who has the best rockers in the whole wide world???

Ummmm... yeah it's Canada!!!

Thanks Rockstar for proving it to the world!!

Though honestly i loved both Lukas and Dilana and would have been happy either way, as a Canuck i of course had the little part that wanted to show some national pride!! Two years in a row??? Hahaha!!
You guys should take a small hop over the water and visit us in BEAUTIFUL Victoria, BC while you're performing in Vancouver!! We have a pretty new arena!! hehe!!

Anyways thanks for keeping this blog going, i never thought i'd get hooked like i did but it was good fun!! I'll keep checkin' it out in the future!!

All I can say is ... I am soooooo happy for Lukas and for Supernova, but not for me because now I AM going to have to buy their CD when it comes out! I fell for Lukas from Day 1, and even as my eyes welled up tonight with emotion, my mother had tears of joy streaming down hers. Good lord, I thought she was going to have a stroke, she was clapping so hard!

I fervently wish I could catch the tour, but sadly, where I live it isn't an option financially so I'll just dream. And hey, if you get the chance, Dave? Tell Lukas to find that girl who gave him the money to travel to the audition for Rockstar and PAY HER BACK! ~LOL~ He thought the auditions were for Rockstar: Van Halen and wasn't going to bother until she told him who the band REALLY was.

I'll continue to check out this blog and am now a fan of Spread Radio Live so ... I'll be back.

Lukas should have won. It was clear weeks ago and I felt the band really liked him. Tonight was a slam dunk wiht the exception of all the ass kissing of Dilana. She would have clearly been a problem. Is she talented? yes. Is she right for SN? No. She is a problem. Anyone who would throw her so called friends under the bus in such a collasal way doesn't deserve the notoriety that SN would bring her. She was good up until about the half way point and then her true colors started to show. Issues there. She will be successful but only on her own in a situation where she runs the show and everyone has to answer to her. Because there is a huge ego involved. When it was the final three up there, the confidence was all over her face. She clearly thought she would take the prize. Lukas is immensly talented and impressively is a stand up guy. That is important when you become a group, you have to have someone you count on. He is the man. This will be a hugely successful pairing. DAVE- I thought you said somewhere that you weren't sure if you could watch Lukas for a couple of hours..... well even so, I appreciate that you are supportive of their decision. Even though you slammed Dilana for her shit talk of all the other contestants you spent a lot fo air time back peddling to bring her back. I feel that it was her you wanted to take the prize. Regardles, it is what it is and Lukas fucking rocks. I have purchased my tickets and he is the reason (and TPC). I would not be a spectator if Dilana had won. Looking forward to next year. Dave- great look tonight, loved the layers.. have a great vacation.

Way to go Lukas!! Another Canadian, woohoo!

Phan Tim - Bono can't sing??? Back in the day (mid-80s until '93), he had a range that rivalled Mercury, Planet, etc....And range aside, the boy *can* sing...

Posted by: julieb75 at September 13, 2006 09:15 PM

You know something? I didn't like Lukas on the first show, but I warmed up to him, even though he can be hard to understand. He's got the right personality for Supernova, something I think Dilana lacked. I really liked the songs they played tonight & it's a CD I will buy, gladly (as I already have TPC's ONe).

man that wuz one fun entertaining summer show!...personally i don't care much for the supernova songs i've heard so far....but i loved dilana and lukas....and i think the band chose wisely....i wish them all the best with their tour...and have nothing but love for ALL the very talented singers who gave it their very best all summer long...and to all the overly opinionated haters out there...ITS JUST A FUCKING TV SHOW PEOPLE!!! quit bein such assholes and be thankful that the world has been exposed to all this fresh talent...without this show most of us wouldn't know any of the other contestants even existed...they are all stars in their own right...and out lives are that much better for them sharing their talent and music with us all...
thankx 2 dave and supernova for keeping me glued to my tv all summer long....

that being said i have only one slightly negative critique bout the show at all....fukn brooke burke's ongoing statement that "these final 3 are singing for their very lives" HAHAHAHA every bottom 3 she said that....crackx me the fuck up...
now that would be one helluva reality show if they executed the ones who didnt make the cut...
ITS MUSIC BROOKE NOT LIFE OR DEATH! hahahaha
ok people thats my 2 cents.....now for the love of god please return this blog back to normal!!!

OMG, right in the middle of watching the finale tonight (west coast) CBS totally showed a SURVIVOR commercial in the middle of the finale tonight that showed LUKAS as the winner!

THANKS FOR THE SPOILER, CBS, YOU FUCKS!

Anti-climatic show, Dave. Meh. I didn't like the way they handled Toby or Magni.

I hope The Panic Channel kicks ass on the tour, best to you guys. Love SRL. Love 6767.

Posted by: shue at September 13, 2006 09:18 PM

So sure enough another homeless Canadian gets the gig just like last year. Whoopee! I did predict this from day one. It's so obvious Dave you're on there once again this year to "guide" people with your snarky comments toward weeding out the unwanted rockers all the way to the one that has been pre-chosen. C'mon people, it's ridiculous that even the gossip columnist Janet Charlton, and numerous others, made mention of Lukas being picked from day one and they had Dilana pegged as their backup, since she was Glib's first choice. Even the setup of Toby (aussie in 3rd place this year/aussie in 3rd place last year..go figure!) was so contrived. You guys are all so lame, esp Mark Burnett, but I guess he's getting the last laugh all the way to the bank since he's scammed everyone once again. Think of all the money made; ratings; downloads, ringtones...it goes on and on. Ah will we ever learn people? Actually, I have. I won't be scammed again by you "possers".

Hi CANDICE:

I'm in Ontario, I don't know what happened....apparently Global rebroadcast the finale in it's entirety an hour later. Must have been some kind of glitch... I'm just incredibly disappointed as I have not missed a moment over the last twelve weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to see the entire program on the internet.

Here's hoping!

Thanks again and good luck on your tour.

Well I guess the recipe for winning the Rockstar contest is being a homeless singer from Toronto.

The first night i saw the show I knew Lucas was the one. That is not just because he is a fellow Canuck. I was do to his presence. He reminded me of a Sober Sid Vicous.

Way to go Lucas.

Dave,

Love you, loved the show, love the outcome! I'm a 34 year-old mother of three and my (conservative preacher) hubby and I and our three kids can finally go back to our "normal" lives. We've had such great fun and were introduced to SRL in the process. We love music and our kids (4,5 and 10) have had a blast learning about different types of tunes. We loved everyone in the final 5 and yet are so satisfied tonight.

P.S. The hubby and I predicted the winner (and the final six) after the first show; check out his blog for proof!

With love,
Jane America

doozy!

Posted by: Dave at September 13, 2006 09:24 PM

Before the show tonight I was reading the posts and am kinda ashamed to say I agreed with the Lukas bashers, but after doing some thinking AND after watching the finale I agree with SN's choice. I love Dilana and she is by far my favorite one of the group, but she may actually have too much charisma and personality for SN, more of a solo artist than a group memember. Lukas did blend well with them. Not sure I'm going to be a huge fan of SN, but I wish them nothing but luck and good fortune.

On the other hand, I'm loving the Panic Channel tracks I downloaded and may just buy tickets for the tour just to see Dilana with the House Band and TPC. If I don't happen to stay for SN, well, that's something else again.

Dave - thank you for this blog, by dropping in every day I feel that in some small way I know you a bit and am a better person for it.

Posted by: hookah at September 13, 2006 09:26 PM

Lukas. Hmmm. Not my choice. Dilana? My choice. Kind of wondering why, if Lukas is so "right," the grand finale Supernova track was a recorded version instead of actually performed live? Hmmm again.

I'll wait for Dilana's CD.

P.S. Dave - Love TPC. Great work!

Dave,

I know you were busy with those chicks on the couch, but since you saw it live, tell me:

WERE THESE PRETAPED SONGS? Did SuperComa and Burnett pull an Ashley Simpson/Milli Vanilli on us?

The 'evidence':

1- The instruments' tracks were 'canned' for sure. Sounded like a record track to me, not a live captation. 'The Hey Hey Hey Song' had backgound vocals when no one sang.

2- Lukas never sang like that before. His voice sounded different, low, growly. He never used his 'trademark' voice. But he did sound the same on the 2 tracks, like they were part of the same performance (let's get in the studio and tape this quick). At no time did he ever pitch or vary his voice like he did for ten weeks.

3- There were very few close-ups of Lukas singing. When they did close-ups, it was for a very short veriod of time, and every time Lukas started to get more intense, they would switch to a stage shot or show another member/the crowd. Plus, there were a lot of shots of him with his back turned (fuck, doesn't he ever learn?). Considering that during most of his performances, the camera stayed on his distorted, intense face for what seemed like hours, the production crew was surely iding something.

Between this, and:
- Lukas being in the bottom 3 TONIGHT but getting the most votes TONIGHT (Note to TLee: 1 + 1 = 2)
- Magni and Toby getting less votes than Dilana and Lukas while M + T were on top of voting the weeks before

I CALL SHENANIGANS!!!

It's so obvious that show was rigged. Not because Janet Charlton said so: that 'photoshoot scoop' was just a wild guess. But how would you explain the fact that Lukas had taped his vocals before the final show?

I guess a cop-out would be to say that every finalist taped their vocals, and they would play the winner's taping at the finale. But let's be frank for a second: the SuperNova die was cast weeks ago.

Not that I'm complaining: it was a great summer filled with exciting performances. It's great to find your weekly rock fix on TV. But if you ask me, I think SuperComa made a BIG F*CKING mistake.
My pick would have been...
Matt. F*ck, did he kill 'Planet Earth' or what? Can you say 'Rock Star'? That was 'cool as Hell', 'sautéed in God Sauce', or 'gwehwah', like TLee once said.

Alas, the best ones are always the firts to go...

Posted by: Bloumeister at September 13, 2006 09:30 PM

Final performance with Lukas and SN was such a huge let down. Careful what you wish for. I was a huge Lukas fan but this is the second time he let me down performing with SN. He would have done so much better on his own. His style is so different from theirs and from the footage I saw of the taping, the crowd didn't look into it at all. Bummer dude. SN's songs are a completely different style from what I expect from Lukas.

Posted by: nigel at September 13, 2006 09:30 PM

I feel like the whole show was a scam....even though I feel that Lukas was the chosen one long before tonight, I do think there was much better talent then Lukas. His vocals get washed out from the band and he is just not that strong of a singer, his stage presence is lacking. I'm sure everyone will say I should be saying something really nice and wishing them all well, but I was very disappointed in the out come and had to vent!

Posted by: Crissy at September 13, 2006 09:31 PM

First of all, I love the picture of you and Storm in the post below this one. Awesome.

Other than that, just wanted to say thanks for a summer of rock music 2 nights a week on my TV! I loved the first season and was really looking forward to this season. From what Brooke said, it sounds like there will be another season, too? If you're involved, I'll be watching. :)

I wanted Toby to win. I've LOVED Dilana. Never been a Lukas fan. But, man...Toby really grew on me and I thought he rocked the crowds.

Happy for Lukas and not bitter or weirded (is that even a word?) out by it. Will probably go see their show.

But I just got my tickets for Aerosmith and I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking ready to rock!

I didn't mention this on my original post but it definately needs to be addressed- what the hell was with the Survivor commercial with Lukas in it?? Jeeziz- what a give away. Even my MOTHER called and siad Lukas is going to win, did you see the commercial?? DAVE- I am clear on the fact that you have NOTHING to do with this most likely but please, for next year insist that there are people to handle the continuity. This was totally blown tonight. Personally I am THRILLED Lukas won but my point being it didn't come as a surprise.

GOOD FOR SUPERNOVA.

thought he was the one from the first show.
just had the look and attitude to make the 'old' dawgs look good and sell the band to a new generation. congrats on reinventing and repackaging rockers from the Eighties to the kids (young and old) of today.

***** I guess I look at artists that bring my life joy and entertainment, whether I know them or not, as friends to an extent.*****

This is why you are my friend Dave, even though we've never met.

I think Supernova made a great choice. Lukas is a phenomenal artist. I wish them the greatest happiness and success as a band and I can't wait to see you ALL on tour.

Posted by: slideoverhere at September 13, 2006 09:36 PM

This is bullshit man. Dilana should have won this, Lukas is a fucking poser. Dilana is the true rockstar that Supernova needed, and a breath of fresh air. Lukas is totally un-original, I'm sick of his style and voice. Too bad, any other of the top 5 and I would have been a Supernova fan. As it is now, I won't be buying their record or supporting them at all. The last 10 minutes of the finale is about as much consecutive Lukas as I can stand. I'll be busy listening to Dilana and Storm and Toby's careers take off while StupidNova flops because a few hundred sixteen year old girls stayed up all night voting for DorkAss. Just look at the numbers on myspace alone, folks. Storm=16,000+, Dilana=14,000+, Lukas=4,000+...? Weak. Even the crowd on the finale was chanting "Dilana" loud as fuck. I didn't hear Lukas' name at all... I thought Supernova was destined for better. But let's think about it -- Tommy Lee, no real surprise I guess. Let's face it, the guy tried to rap for Christ's sake. He's all about cheesy fads, and in that case, Lukas is definately "his boy". Gilby? Ummm... who the fuck are you? I had no idea until this show, that's for sure. See, when I think of Guns N Roses, I think of Slash. Was Gilby like their guest guitar player for a while when Slash was too hung over to play? Well at least we know him now -- a very opinionated, mediocre guitar player. And Jason... I'm most surprised and sad for you man. I thought you'd left Metallica because they sold out and you wanted something better. All I can say is, get out now while you can.... Go join Dilana's band or something...

Posted by: JC at September 13, 2006 09:36 PM

2 things.1 Anyone with any common sense knew Lukas had this gig in the bag if you didn't then you don't understand rock you probably don't know who most of the artists are that the singers covered on the show.

See how Dave can talk about Zeppelin like that well we all get what he is saying on that one.Did Keith Moon name Zeppelin or was it Entwistle?Good question but if you know rock music you know the answer.(The answer is most say Keith but John says it was him so I believe John still an important rock fact)If John had called them the Mystical Fairies they probably wouldn't have been as popular just saying.

2.For all you idiots that are bitchin' about Rossi's vocals go download his shit.Try Trust Me or Drive or Car Crash the dude recorded has sweet vocals.Nobody goes to a show to hear crystal clear vocals that's why they have albums or singles these days. The Stones are painful to watch live but they sure as hell could but out some killer albums. This show ain't fucking American Idol it's not about being a pop singer it's about those other things that make a performer riveting. To be honest is Rossi sounded like he does on the show he would still be fine. But he doesn't he sounds fucking great. What you are hearing is that his voice isn't the strongest like Jason says it doesn't cut through the music as well as some. But his voice if far and away the most intersting of all the rockers recorded.

Posted by: KeithMoonLives at September 13, 2006 09:37 PM

Dave,

In all fairness to everyone (including myself) who may bitch about the outcome, when Robert Plant did Tall Cool One, he didn't do a 10 week TV show around it. He didn't create an illusion of a contest, push the fans emotional buttons and turn his creative choices into a circus. And yet, I bet you still voiced your opinion of that choice he made to someone in your world when you heard it, didnt you? You just did in your Blog just now, In fact.

You speak of it like SN is just a normal band who chose a new singer and not the side show that it really is. You set the stage up in a way that the viewers have a vested interest in the outcome. I think its fair, understandable and acceptable for people to have strong opinions about that outcome.

If your going strip the integrity away from Rock and Roll and turn creativity into an online TV circus then don't pretend to be shocked or outraged when the lions decide to eat the ring masters.

And get a new SRL girl of the month up there.

Hi Dave
While I have enjoyed the whole "Supernova Experience" I am kinda glad that it is all over. The boys made the choice that was right for them, and obviously for the legion of Lukas fans.
Good on them. It has been great fun to watch.
Hope that TPC head down to Melbourne (Australia) some time soon - if it is the money, you can always stay at my place! My house is your house!
I love your comments, your attitude, your music and your tatts; but I was really moved by your sincerity when you spoke of the lady that you sat next to on the plane who had survived the horrors on a concentration camp. I would like to believe that there are a lot more people like you in the world.

Last night I out and drank a bunch of beer and ate chicken wings. Then this morning I woke up and drank two big cups of coffee, jumped out for a surf then came home and took the biggest, nastiest shit. And let me tell you, it was a real steamer - all yellow and stanky, the kind that you need a quarter roll to of toilet paper get to get the funk out of your crack.

But as nasty as that turd was, it wasn't half as crappy as the dreck Dave Navarro churns out.

But after tuning in to that Rock Star show tonight, I have to admit, even that isn't nearly as god awful, intestines-wringing shitty as the three (now four) idiots.

Its as if GG Allin were to jump up out of the grave, take a shit on stage, then the shit somehow animated themselves enough to play drums, pluck bass and twang guitar.

Yeah, that sounds about right...

Lukas........meh. Toby and Dilana were the only ones that made me legitimately smile and get really excited. If Lukes would learn to open his friggin mouth a little more often when he sings and gets rid of the lame Mick Jagger stage moves---I might be persuaded. The only contestant that truly ruled the stage while playing with the band was Dilana though---she was so engaging everything kind of melted around her and she commanded your attention.

I would love to hear records from all the finalists, including Storm---some great talent in those folks if they had the right kind of band and support.

Either way, killer show Dave. A buddy of mine called me about three weeks into it and said "Man, you gotta check this out...these people ROCK." I truly enjoyed every week, and it was great to see a show that showcased ROCK AND ROLL. Cheers!

Dave ...

Would you put a word in to Lukas about me being his Mary Kay rep? ... and was Dilana wearing underwear in Tuesday night's show?

**smooch**

Read the post about Lukas' vocals being pretaped and had to laugh. His vocals were so bad during his finale performances with SN, that there is no way that they were pretaped. I couldn't understand most of the lyrics. Check please.

Holy f*ck, they only come out at night...

So Nipples, that dump you took, exactly how long did you examine it? Because you seem to be real good at describing shit. Did you get a diploma at the Fecal Matter Institute? You sure sound like a specialist on the subject... or were you only looking at your bathroom mirror?

Talk about a piece of shit needing to be flushed...

Hi Dave
Thanks so much for an awesome season of rockstar! I watched it last year but found it so much more exciting this year. Loved it & definitely going to go through rockstar withdrawal and really sad that I wont be seeing your face on my TV set every week :)
Also happy that Lukas won! Good luck with your new cd, the tour & hope you get some rest on your upcoming vacation. Take care :)
Laura
p.s. to Christine above...Global tv in Ontario did screw up but they redid the whole show again at 10pm EST correctly

Dave,
Thanks again for taking part of this kick-ass show and help making it a blast and interesting to watch.
GO LUKAS!!!!

Stay sexy,

Posted by: Spi at September 13, 2006 09:50 PM

Ok - you know what! I didn't even read all the shit on here - I heard about it on another fuckin' board. So guess what dumbasses, my turn to speak...

1. DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE ANY FUCKING TASTE AT ALL! I am soooooooooooooo sick of people being hung up on this lame ass, corporate driven, robot perfect pitch blah blah fucking blah shit. Ok - Lukas pitch wanders around but WHO THE FUCK CARES!! If you had any true connection or understanding of the beauty, truth, and expression of MUSIC you would understand this. But I guess, some people would prefer to hear Magni sing word for word, note for note, or see frat boy Toby sing an NSYNC cover with his shirt off, than hear some REAL TRUE FUCKING TALENT!! HELLLL-FUCKIN-OOOOOOOOO!!!

2. IT BLOWS ME AWAY at how people have these fucking blinders on. Ok - you know what - I refer to Lukas as the "Deranged Muppet" - even said so on his site. But I still wanna fuck his brains out LOL!!! So what, cause he has some style and some piercings, and some attitude, and some personality and can throw his body around all over the place, that means he sucks! Or he is a POSER!! OH MY FUCK!! Fucking ignorami...ugh...

OK LET'S USE OUR BRAINS HERE. THE FINAL FOUR WERE:

1. Magni. Real sweet, nice guy, GREAT pitch, powerful voice. Can't find anything bad to say about him. Actually can't find much to say about him at all. Not memorable. Great, but not memorable. And..ummm..you think he can LEAD a band with T Lee on the drums!! HELLLLL-FUCKIN-OOOOOOOOO
2. Toby. Decent voice, but not great. Probably conceited. Relies on his looks to get him where he needs to go. Probably a cool guy to hang with but...ummmm some day, the love handles will set in and ummm...you can't rely on oh-oh songs and shakin your ass for the rest of your life. At least not in a band with TOMMY FUCKIN LEE!! HELLLLL-FUCKIN---OOOOOO!!!
3. Dilana. Great voice, realllly great. Chills up and down my spine. Ok, I am gonna be a bitch here. I want to like her, I want to think she is sweet - yet instead of visions of sugarplums dancing in my head, it's visions of Supernova visiting thier ex lead singer in the loony bin, and telling her that the straight jacket DOES match her hair! Something just ain't right with that one...Sooo say it with me kids - HELLL-FUCKIN---OOOOOOO!!
4. Lukas. Original, massive range (I will admit he needs to work on technique), personality, stage presence, electric on stage, nice eye candy, dirty yet cute, can take ANY song and make it kick ass...a TRUE artist...not a POSER! Not many people can rearrange shit to suit thier voice and style like he does and still survive the music biz. I mean shit - he has EVERYTHING! He has the important shit! He can work on technique, if the muppet thing gets out of hand, he can work on that. But he has all the other shit NATURALLY. Its not an act like it is with others. If you are born with the important stuff, you can work on the learned things. If, however, you are born with a pretty voice and that is all...then you are not gonna get anywhere.

I AM TOTALLY LOST ON WHY PEOPLE ARE BITCHING ABOUT THIS. C'mon y'all....remove head from sphincter...

lkasjdfklasjdfljkasdfklj ugh...

SUPERNOVA WILL KICK ASS. IF THEY HAD CHOSEN MAGNI, IT WOULD BE BORING. IF THEY CHOSE TOBY, IT WOULD BE WEAK. IF THEY CHOSE DILANA, IT WOULD BE UNSTABLE. THEY CHOSE LUKAS. THEY WILL ROCK!

NICE CHOICE GUYS. I AM TOTALLY IN SUPPORT OF IT, AS ARE MANY MANY MANY OTHERS.

xoxoxoxoxox always,
Wicked Witch of Texas

Well, Dilana def got the better deal. BTW, she has a CD that is currently avail on Amazon under Dilana Smith, I already ordered it. SHe is ranked #160 in sales already and that is huge! THere are literally millions of artists on AMazon and #160 is a big number. She outranks anything listed there under Tommy Lee. Can't wait for her new release!

Posted by: trulyloved at September 13, 2006 09:51 PM

Dave-
I agree that any of the final four would have been a valid choice. After two seasons of RS, I have to say that the happiest discovery was what a well rounded, insightful, and obviously clear thinking business man you are! To be so young and so wise in such a tricky business is a remarkable thing. Thank you for being so willing to be a great example and mentor to those coming up behind you. The business needs more like you! I look forward to watching you next season and, thank goodness, have now found this site to continue with my Daily Dose of Dave! The best of luck with TPC! I can't wait to load up on the music!

Sincerely,

A grandma in California!

Posted by: bboy at September 13, 2006 09:52 PM

I just don't get it.
An amusing thing about last season with INXS --and this was uncany-- was that each and every single time they voted someone off, I called it and agreed wholly with the choice. I even oddly called their double elimination.
From the very start of this season, I didn't have a clue. The first episode they showed this little wormy guy badmouthing the others (Lucas) and only one guy stood up to him, asking only that he answer the questions put forth. Lucas wimped out and wimpered away, and then they voted out the guy who stood tall. How UNrocknroll!

I'm really dumbfounded about Lucas. I don't dislike him really, and a couple of times I actually thought what he was doing was okay. But his spastic jerky motions and drunken stage demeanor coupled with his "singing" voice really had me having a hard time to imagine watching the guy for any length of time.
Dave, you must have seen something I didn't live in person! In all performances I only saw two vocal ranges from him, which was a screechy growl, and the other, which was slightly less unpleasant. Nothing which would qualify as melodic. But I reckon that's Rock n Roll. ..??? Or SN' new version maybe. .?

I wish the band well. I hope they turn out to be happy with their choice and all. I would have bought their CD had any of the others in the final four won, but I can't put up with that voice for long.

The funny thing was, when Supernova performed live with the finalists for the past weeks, they by far -IMHO- not only had the worst performance with Lucas fronting them, but the SN guys just didn't seem like they were having as much fun with him up there. More than anything else, I think that's ashame.

Dave,I'm gonna miss your fine ass on my tv twice a week. When the season began you were the only reason I tuned in ~:} since im not really a Tommy Lee fan,BUT, as the season went on the talent was revealed, the drama was insane ,Tommys personality grew on me,the internet reality show was addicting , you were hotter than ever, loved the
"Evil Dave" commentary, who could forget the crazy performances of Zaira, and the amazing growth of The Dark Horse, you became a single man again giving all of us chicks even more to fantasize over, mmmm, what a perfect season and summer! Stillgonna miss your sexy ass the most!

Lukas = Dime-a-dozen Emo Punk

SN should have clarified that they wanted to be an EMO band from the start instead of blathering on about "true rock". I thought SN said they wanted to play OZZFEST, not 3rd stage on the Warped Tour. The contestants all worked so hard to show SN real rock, not realizing all along they were being used and didn't stand a chance. A fair contest would have been 15 EMO punks battling it out. At least then they would have stood a chance. Ok, will the TRUE rockers please come forward??

Posted by: lennyk at September 13, 2006 09:56 PM

Thanks for a great show, and congrats to Lucas and the guys.
Wish I would have heard an apology from TLee for that comment last night, it was still uncalled for. But alas that's his call, he's free to do whatever.

Posted by: whatever at September 13, 2006 09:57 PM

Toby's Supernova performance was ten times better than Lukas'. Nothing but a bunch of garbled words coming out of Lukas. Great tune, wrong front man. I'll pass on the cd but maybe catch him in the next Willy Wonka movie.

Posted by: wsquared at September 13, 2006 09:59 PM

Why are some of you classifying Lukas as EMO? I never even thought of that. I guess I just know the boy can ROCK.

Genres mean nothing as long as you have it in your soul!

Dave, thanx for all U are and all you have done for us! I am so happy my sis and my cousin are going to see you!

Thanx for letting postive and negative approaches on the blog.

Well; i'm a celeb blogger myself also, but unlike that crazyass JC chica, I cannot show my face..I used to work as a Dominatrix and since I'm back in the REAL world, it's best to keep my identity secret. However, I've been an avid Rockstar Fan since Season 1, and really have enjoyed both Shows. I do think that overall, Dilana had the best pipes (Lukas needs voice lessons), but her braggarty (sp.?) ruined it for her. Plus, her stage presence wasn't as commanding as Lukas's was (she expected her voice to carry her thru). It was nice to see you on t.v., and I'm proud to say for all those here that might think you have attitude; that you're just as kind in person, too. (I bumped into you in Brentwood once). In closing, I agree with blndfayth above...Lukas needs to enunciate more; blech!...(check at this table please also!!) Will I buy tixxx to the show? Perchance if the cd rocks....

Posted by: kontradiction at September 13, 2006 10:01 PM

My husband and I feel cheeted! We hated Lukas' style, sound, look, attitude, everything! He was completely wrong for the band. But the band let the "fans decide", just because we (who work and can afford to buy tickets)could not stay up all night and vote a thousand times for Toby, unlike all the kids who don't have jobs could stay up and vote for that punk. I thought this show was not like American Idol, but I was wrong. We won't be watching any more of your shows and there's no way in hell we'll buy tickets for SN's show.

STFU...ugh

Dave, sugar. I am usually not this mean, just frustrated that a talented, nice person is getting bashed like this. Pisses me off royally. I love Lukas, and will back him with whatever band he is in. Take care, love.

HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....people are soo funny, getting all worked up about a fuckin tv show. If you don't like SN's music...don't buy the album...if you don't like Lukas as their lead singer...don't go see them in concert. Go out and buy a cd from a band that you DO like...or hey, get a ticket to a show you DO want to see.

Dave - Thanks for a great season of Rockstar. It was a blast watching you twice a week. I was busting up laughing on Tuesdays show when you said, "Grab your torch and head back to camp!" Toby Rand is the ONLY one of the true rockers that could do anything with the lame SN tunes. From week one, his vocals just blew me away. Then when he rocked the stage and the crowd the way he does, I could feel the earth move. That young man has more talent in his little pinky than Lukas could ever have in 10 lifetimes. I can't wait to see Toby fronting his band Juke Kartel and doing a world tour. Most of all, I can hardly wait to buy his amazing music on CD. He is a truly gifted singer/songwriter. Love ya 4ever TOBY!! You truly rock.

I HOPE THIS WORKS OUT FOR LUKAS. IT CONCERNS ME THAT SN MADE IT ABOUT NUMBER OF VOTES AS OPPOSED TO THEIR MUSICAL VISION.

DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THAT? I WANT TO BE ABLE TO RESPECT THAT THE DECISION WAS ABOUT INTEGRITY AS ARTISTS AND NOT ABOUT WHO WOULD SELL THE MOST TIX FOR THEM.

I HEARD A RUMOR THAT LUKAS AND MAGNI ARE ALSO JOINING THE TOUR TO OPEN WITH THE HOUSE BAND, IS THIS TRUE? FOR TOBY'S SAKE I HOPE NOT.

THAT CONCEPT IS TOO AMERICAN IDOL FOR ME.

Oh sheesh, this came out in all caps and I don't want to re-type. My carpel tunnel is coming back.

BTW Dave, thanks for the invitation to come back and check in. I most definitely will.

Dave, thanks for letting us vent here. It is amazing how wrapped up I got over a Fucking GAME SHOW !!!!!!!! The fucked up thing is , I DONT like Metallica, Crue , or GNR,,,But I LOVED this show,,,,,,,I cant believe I got so wrapped up in it.
I got to hear some GREAT unsigned talent in front of a house band who were pretty damn talented. To be able to play Wish you were here in 2-1/2 minutes is impressive. That song always brings a tear to my eyes too. Hell If I know why, it just does . I especially enjoyed Dilana's singing, I am on old fart of 48, and her voice reminds me of the days of Tina Turner BEFORE she dumped Ike. That woman has a Raw Soulful quality which you NEVER hear anymore. She is a great talent and I hope she maximizes this opportunity, and I get to hear from her agian, So once again Dave,,,,,Thanks for a good summer ,,,,It was fun.

Posted by: nezumii at September 13, 2006 10:11 PM

Thanks for allowing us to rage here. I came in on the SN tidal wave, but I kinda like it, so I might just stick around for awhile yet.

Im over all the crap now - the one I liked, didn't win - no surprise there. The ones I always like never win. Skunk boy dosent cut it for me - never has, never will. In fact he is the only one apart from Zayra that has failed to impress me at all.

Oh well...........

Dave your comment about Robert Plant - if one of my favourite artists does something I don't like thats no biggie, it just means I don't like it. But I think the point that people are making here is this: you have to like the artist in the first place.

Alot of the folk on here (myself included) do not like the choice and by default are more than likely not going to like anything the band puts out. I couldn't stand JD last year and consequently could not stand listening to the music - in fact I turned the radio off every time I heard it. It had nothing to do with how he looked, but everything to do with how he sounded.

I don't give a flying fuck what the artist looks like, but I do care a great deal about how they sound. Thats what I hand over my hard earned $$$ for.

Argh! fargin' typo... TOBY & MAGNI opening w/HB in my above post.

double sheesh

Posted by: Niki at September 13, 2006 10:15 PM

I saw the east coast feed and it was definitely messed up as described (Brooke in 2 different outfits, and Magni magically dissappearing) I missed the spoiler Survivor ad though. West coast feed didn't show the season recaps but all performances and eliminations were shown.

KML - Keith Moon was discussing forming a band with Jimmy Page when the name Lead Zeppelin was brought up. He got it from John Entwistle. They dropped the 'a' to prevent people from pronouncing it 'leed'. That's the way I remember hearing it anyway.

Glad it's over but it was a fun ride while it lasted.

Laura,

Too little too late... I was in my jeep driving home when Gobal rebroadcast the finale... Licking my wounds...

Posted by: Chrisine at September 13, 2006 10:15 PM

Hey Dave,

How you doing? I agree that people get too upset with the choices of their favorite entertainers. You don't have to love everything they do or rag on the things you don't. However, Robert Plant doesn't take an on-line poll everytime he wants to write new music. I think people have a right to be angry with the choice that Supernova made. What if you stayed up all last night voting for Magni because you found him so inspiring and you couldn't stand Lukas' mumbling growl of a voice. You wasted hours of your time to see someone who you can't stand listening to front a band of musicians you do like. By the way, do you know how annoying it is to type in security codes for an hour? What I am saying is, the point of the show was to ask people to have an opinion about who should front Supernova. They even supposedly have a hand in the band's choice via voting. Of course people are going to be upset when their favorite goes home. Supernova (name pending on law suit and noticed how it isn't mentioned in your post) could've formed and privately looked for a lead singer but instead they opened themselves up for the world to view. Supernova got the benefit of exposure but when you ask everyone to have an opinion, they will. This show is about music so it is easy to get emotionally invested in your favorite. That same investment is why people stay up all night to vote to make sure they don't go home. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, the love they feel for their favorite will translate into their anger when he/she doesn't win. Their choice wasn't personal and private, it actually couldn't have been more public and even involved us common folk. When you open yourself up like that expect the public to react, it is what you are asking for. Just something to think about....

Do you actually read all these comments? If so, where do you find the time?

Posted by: Angie at September 13, 2006 10:19 PM

Hi Dave,
I became a fun of Dilana.
To be honest,Rock music is not my number one favorite. But, I started enjoying the show because of Dilana.
Last night, I got shiver when I heard her singing Roxanne. I even went to website and I repeatedly heard Roxanne over and over. She is Awsome!!
I was hoping that Dilana won.....
I just wanted to drop a note for her that I really loved her singing.
Oh well, Lukas was my second favorite singer of the show. So, I am happy for the final anyway.

I heard on the radio today that SN will have to change their name as some obscure punk band already has dibs on the name " Super Nova"...

Any suggestions on an altenative name??

Posted by: Christine at September 13, 2006 10:30 PM

Angie, well Said ! I would like to put to you this food for thought though. If SN were seriously looking for a long term commtment for a long term sucessful band, they wouldnt have done it on a national talent contest game show/ Reality show hybrid. This was Easy money for them all. It probably has a shelf life of about 3 to 4 months. They will take the cash , split up , go their seperate ways, and you can enjoy their music for years to come,,,With that being said,,,,Quite a few talented artists have gained some SERIOUS exposure which can do nothing but good for their careers. So what the hell, My girl didnt win either , but hey, it was an entertaining summer, several careers have just gotten a BIG ASS BOOST, SN made some easy cash,,,,,,Life is good !!!

Posted by: nezumii at September 13, 2006 10:30 PM

"do we know if the whole cd has lyrics? the thing that set lucas off was he creativity on stage and his originals...it would be a shame to lose that on a disc full of songs that he didnt help right. thats the thing that jumped off about JD, he wrote the first single"

I'm hoping the song where Lukas wrote the "follow me like shadows" will be on the cd, I loved that one!

Posted by: RockON at September 13, 2006 10:30 PM

Hey Dave, When do you think the penny will drop for Superwhoever that there going to be huge in CANADA and thats it, HAHAHA. Come on Dave be honest, you know their music SUCKS BIG TIME and with Lukas singing it's even worse, but maybe thats the whole idea as then nobody will be able to understand the lame lyrics!!!! They should have picked Dilana, an 80s cover queen matches better with an 80s ageing rockband. SNAP.

Posted by: gopies at September 13, 2006 10:31 PM

The whole thing that gets me is the fakey and obvious setup. They set Toby up like he was going to win, but he was just getting a consolation prize. Toby did everything and more for SN and you Dave, were so obvious in your prejudices and preferences. It's a joke to pretend you didn't have a vested interest in this all along, and that you didn't try and influence SN the way you certainly did the voters. I agree with other posters that have said this whole thing was a sham. Two years in a row have proven that. And as for all you Canadian Lukas fanatics who now are so suddenly riteous, accusing people of being bashers 'cuz they happen to think your boy sux, that is the biggest joke of all! Everyone on every board on the internet, knows that the Lukas fans are the biggest bashers of them all. Now, don't go trying to act all halo on the rest of us. Toby fans have never been the bashers. We just wanted our boy to win, because he truly has the ta
