Camp Freddy Radio Tonight!

Tonight is an all new Camp Freddy Radio on Indie 103.1FM from 6-8pm. We will have the Podcast up soon after the show. Tonight we have two call-ins: Perez Hilton, the only celeb gossip writer I support, and the chick I met the other night from Life & Style. Let's see if she allows me to ask her the tough questions of the day. "But Dave... Aren't you just perpetuating the attention on this kind of journalism?" Perhaps, but at the same time, I like the fact that I have the ability to turn the tables a bit. There is an old saying in the radio business. "Don't fuck with people who have radio shows!" Actually, it's not an old saying... I have just coined the adage. I'm sure you can tell I have a lot of time on my hands lately. I usually don't micromanage all this stuff, but at the end of the day, it all means nothing and it's just fun and entertaining like a sit-com or a Schwarzenegger movie. Check out this news item from The Daily News:

Dave Navarro must not read the gossip columns, or he'd know he was supposed to be dating a young lady by the name of Susan Howard. Navarro has been hanging out with one of the show's sexy contestants, the elaborately named Storm Susan Large. They were looking very cozy at the Stuff Style Awards party in L.A. last week. "Dave was rubbing Storm's back, and they snuggled before leaving together."

A. Storm is my homey! I make it a rule to not date anyone two feet taller than me! (That cuts out like 50% of ALL women... HAHAHAHAHA!)
B. A simple fact check would have revealed that the other woman in question is not named "Susan"!

You got to love it though! It's funny shit! Don't worry, The Panic Channel starts up rehearsals on Monday for a few dates in October. I'll have bigger fish to fry than responding to every one of these things. However, for the time being... It is kind of fun. Since I am in the responding mood, I can start taking another batch of Sunday 10 Questions!

"Go On" a fan favorite B-Side from the "(ONe)" CD is available NOW as a separate single from iTunes.

Dave- Is Camp Freddy going to come out with a full album of covers?

Posted by: Cregger at September 30, 2006 12:40 PM

OK, hoping to stay awake for CFR tonight, so I may even call.

Question: Are the "few dates" you mention exclusively in the US?

Have a good evening, and glad to hear the news about Go-On.

Much Love

What was the last book you read called?

Oh and more importantly, what's your favorite sexual position?

Posted by: gemma at September 30, 2006 12:51 PM

Afternoon Dave and Fam,

Ok here are a couple Sun 10 possibilities (YAY...so glad this is comin back!) -

~Are you going to be in SF w/ Camp Freddy this coming Friday 10/6. Im desperately trying to figure out a way to go, but it's not worth my time if you're not gonna be there. Your name isn't listed on the advertisement, that's why Im concerned. And hey...you know, if you wanna hook me up w/ a couple guest list spots...I definitely wouldn't be mad at ya!)

~Are you thinking about doing the whole live tv broadcast deal from your new mega technology loft?! That would be fuckin awesome.

Well, that's all I can think of except for the standard, "any new Netflix recommendations?"
I googled Cannibal Holocaust and ummm, yeeeah..I wont be watching that one...A little to gory for my liking! Just reading the description they gave made me feel nauseous!! hahaha

Have a great day Dave...enjoy your free time! Love, Amber :)

Posted by: Ambersonian at September 30, 2006 12:51 PM

Hey Dave. Looking forward to SRL.
I loved the little internet contest you did before releasing ONe. Wondered TPC has plans for another album and if you would consider taking the idea up another notch, such as having a lyric contest or something? There seems to be alot of talent in your 67ers that could be tapped into!

Posted by: Datura at September 30, 2006 12:52 PM

Hello Sexxxy,

I think it's ironic that you're asking for questions today when today is National Ask a Stupid Question Day. I hope the questions you recieve are not too stupid. I can't think of any legit non-sexual questions right now. So... Have a great day and if you can, hook yup the webcam 2nite.

Ciao Bella

Hey Dave - I'm very new to your work - and lovin' it big time. You are astonishingly talented & oh so easy on the eyes as well as the ears. (You could read me the phone book all day & it would sound sexy!)
Here's a Sun 10 possibility or two for ya-

*Is there any musician/artist you haven't worked w/yet but would like to - to collaborate on a song or something?
* How tall ARE you btw?
* Are you an organic/healthy food type of person?
(I ask because you seem to be getting younger w/each year - how do you DO that?!?!?!)

Love your work - Just bought my first Navarro music - TPC & Trust No One - can not tell you how exciting it is to discover you ! Thanx - Good luck this upcoming year - keep doing what you're doing Love! XOXO

Posted by: SpaJunkie at September 30, 2006 01:44 PM

Hey Dave,
These October dates...any of them in the UK??
I remember you saying TPC were coming over sometime this year, please bring the panic to England!

Posted by: Stingroy at September 30, 2006 01:45 PM

Dear Dave,
Any chance of a Camp Freddy video? I'd love to see one for Surrender, maybe you could intersperse concert footage with that hot chick from youtube?
The world needs more DAVE!!

also, I saw in Jane magazine a rider for a TPC gig in Vegas..funny stuff? I've asked you questions about personal and TPC riders before, how does a typical Camp Freddy rider differ?

ok, those are the only questions I have for now, please feel free to pick the less stupid of the two
love,
jezzi(where was that pic taken?)

Posted by: jezebel at September 30, 2006 01:49 PM

Hey Dave

when you collaborate on people's albums (like Storm's for instance) do you do it gratis or charge a fee?

I recently watched the Mountain Song clip on youtube, when you guys were playing naked....and Son, (as you say)...you have gotten hot into shape...I'd never compared the body of Jane's Dave to the one posted today..so, I second that earlier request to discuss your routine....or anything about your body. :)

Posted by: k at September 30, 2006 02:02 PM

Morning Dave (well its morning my time)

I know I take the piss alot on here, but seriously do you have any plans to bring TPC downunder?

If you do please keep the ticket prices down as much as you can. I know its a huge expense bringing all your gear this far across the globe and you have to make a profit, but man, some of the ticket prices charged when international acts do eventually come here are astronomical.

I had to forgo the Stones earlier in the year, because it was either see them in concert or pay the mortgage that month. I pleaded with the bank manager in the "name of muisc dammit" but he wasn't having a bar of it.

Posted by: Mrs Meat at September 30, 2006 02:09 PM

Heya Dave,

Funny, how the tabloids seem to hook you up with every single girl in Hollywood lately... some of those writers must have tragically infrequent sex.

Anyways, a coupl'a questions for Sun 10, take your pick, if you like:

- What do you personally like better (money aside, haha), playing the intimate clubs, wheere you can actually look your fans in the eyes, or the biiiiiig venues, where tens of thousands are cheering for you?

- If you could try out any other person's life (famous or not) for one day, whose would it be?

- Bono Vox once said that musicians have a hole in their hearts that's almost as big as their egos. Do you agree?

- Do you vote? Why (not)?

Cheers - and thanks for being a great musician and entertainer! :)
Eline.

Posted by: Amy at September 30, 2006 02:18 PM

1.) WHEN are you coming to England? The North of England especially! When can I see your smile for real!
2.) What's the sexiest thing you EVER did?
3.) Is AK a hot kisser...
4.) Cats or dogs?
5.) Name one experience that lights you up inside every time you think of it.
6.) What's your passion - music / art or for you are they one and the same can they even be split
7.) Where do you like being touched most?
8.) Music - which of all the musicians you've jammed / played with did you enjoy being on stage with most? Who makes your heart tick at the thought of a session?
9.) Top 3 heroes?
10.) Last book you read?
Yeah I know nothing exactly thought provoking - but these flew off the keyboard straight into cyberDavespace, so if I bumped into you right now I'd probably never ask any of the above and would settle for "Hi, how's it going?!"
Silky kisses :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Dave!

Great job on Tom Green the other day. I love the way you're willing to keep it real and centered(Lady Muse's heartfelt call) while everything else is kind of spinning out around you. I'm totally with you on the "full spectrum" thing. That's what you're so awesome at Dave -- incredible music, intelligence, humor, heart, spirit, sexiness, synthesis. You're consumate, man.

Just a few questions:

1. Because of the spiritual channeling quality of ONe, I'm assuming you believe in life after death and communication with the other side. Have you actually communicated in a tangible way with loved ones who have passed on?

2. Do you like classical music at all? (I'm an emerging opera singer who likes to rock out!)

3. Aside from the SN tour, are you seriously planning on working with Dilana in any way in the near future? Any possiblities of having her on SRL (if you did, and I missed it -- sorry!)?

Again, thanks for all you do Dave. Although I've always known you're out there, I'm a new diehard fan of yours through exposure to SN. I recently bought ONe, have been lurking here for a couple of months now, and I just want to tell you that you're awesome and courageous. There's a lot of complete and total crap in our industry too (classical music world), believe it or not, so I cheer the guy on who says "enough" and takes it all back! I so wish we had a hero too!

LOVE you!

Posted by: Steve L at September 30, 2006 02:33 PM

Dave, I am a Rancher from Alberta Canada. I also work for a major oil company, but i don't think that gig will last long as I prefer to work with Cattle rather than people, I'm sure you understand. Anyway I enjoyed your work with The Chili's but ever since then your music has been pure crap not to mention the reality TV garbage that you do. I think you are a very bad influence on our children and I don't allow them to purchase or view your work. I don't want my children to plaster their bodies with silly tattoos or wear those devil beards and walk around with their shirts off. You certainly could portray a healthier lifestyle for our children. I also don't like your affiliation with Porn Stars. Sincerly, your friend Brian Birchall.

Question:
There are ~no~ upcoming shows on the east coast - do you think, maybe maybe, with enough internet chatter we could convince the guys to add a show or two or four? Hint Hint - Hershey, PA has a really nice new stadium and well - great chocolate! NYC, DC and Philly are a nice collection too.

I'm guessing that the pic is from the Tom Leykis thing at the Playboy Mansion. I don't recall too many other outdoor performances with clothing optional.
I just have two simple questions.

1. What kind of cigarettes do you smoke? Camel Filters?
2. Are you all caught up on Project Runway and do you think Jeffrey will pull off the win?

Posted by: Scott at September 30, 2006 05:36 PM

Wow Dave, it takes a big man to admit he is short. HaHa

I have a very important question that I believe you could find out the answer to:

1.) Is www.myspace.com/109934665, really Lukas Rossi?

At rockband they are saying that none of the myspace accounts are really Lukas. I know you could contact him and find out. The reason it is so important to me is because someone who says they are really Lukas e-mailed me. He said he got my e-mail from a friend/contact, and asked me what was going on with me. I received the e-mail on the 28, which was the one year anniversary of the loss of my son. I thought it was a very strange coincidence. I had not even checked out that myspace account. I replied to his e-mail and asked if it was really him, and he claimed that he was really Lukas. He gave me that myspace address. I just think that it must not really be him and what an awful hoax to pull on such an emotional day for me. The reason I am asking you this question is because I know this is really you Dave.

Hi Dave,
I giggled over your comments about Perez Hilton and the chick from Life & Style.
It’s great that you can have fun with them.

But PLEASE stop referring to what they do to make money as journalism.

They are not journalists and what they do for a living isn’t journalism. By its definition journalism involves reportage; the analysis, delivering and communicating of information that’s newsworthy. For information to be newsworthy, it must be, by definition, relevant.

The tabloid business is about gossip, photos, and celebrity mongering. It’s frequently fun and entertaining, but it’s more often mean-spirited and deceptive – which you know. Maybe there’s place for such a business in a world as complicated and challenging as the one in which we live – people clamor for escapist material. But a tabloid is a tabloid – and has been since the early 1900s when that sort of rabble first stalked entertainers. Yes, they’ve been around that long. The stuff on tabloids’ pages isn’t journalism, not in the truest sense of what the word and the profession are supposed to represent.

Legitimate journalists face enormous challenges every day trying to fulfill their (our) responsibility to serve the public interest. While celeb rags fly off newsstands, fewer people are reading major dailies where they might learn what politicians are doing at home and around the world. Budgets shrink and reporters have fewer and fewer resources available to research important stories. Companies are reluctant to authorize travel expenses or to invest the time that’s really required to do investigative journalism.

How we can understand ourselves if we don’t really examine what’s happening around us and ask tough questions? More the point, how do we understand cultures so vastly different in this global community, without a healthy and proactive media? Has there ever been a time when having such a media was more important?

Journalism has a place and a valuable role to play in a democratic society. As long as that’s true, the gossip-mongers will be able to take advantage of these freedoms we’re guaranteed – and which we depend on to serve - to ply their trade. Apparently, that’s democracy.

One thing is certain: a tabloid is a tabloid, it’s not journalism.

In closing, Dave, may I just say, I am wee, just 5’3, and busty.

My questions would be fairly simple and direct:
1. what do you hate to love?
2. best guitar solo ever?
3. phrase to write on your grave?
4. what is irritating?
5. song to listen to while driving?
6. to lose the friend or to lose the laugh?
7. best band fronted by a woman?
8. favorite swear?
9. music to put on repeat mode to enemies?
10. over-estimated and under-estimated bands?
Cheers!

Much respect to you [and others] in your pursuit to take back control of what information is put out there & accessible to the "public" - it's way overdue & definitely needed!!

I'm interested to know from your past associations/endevours what "knowledge or positve stuff" you bring to The Panic Channel & alternately what [if any] possible "bagage or negativity" do you bring?

Once again, much repect on keeping it real!

The Panic Channel Chronicle

Hello Dave,

I was listening (and thoroughly enjoying) the latest CFR podcast and wish to focus on one of the issues that seems to be a big passion of yours; the unrestricted communication of ideas. The Internet as a disruptive and simultaneously enabling medium has given us the power and opportunity to exchange our thoughts with others as never before.

As a member of the publishing world (print media) I have had the opportunity to explore another aspect of the Internet that you may not be fully aware of; “living digital books.

Allow me to explain by making a small proposal to you as well as to my fellow TPC fans.

How does the idea of a TPC and fan-based living journal of the band as it evolves through time sound? What I have in mind is a gathering of information (interviews, video, audio, pictures, printed material etc). From all sources, both TPC and its fans (remember the power of the Web?), filtering it for accuracy (via the band or a collaborative band/fans method) and presenting the end product in a structured and complete way i.e. digital book type format. This “book is to contain the collective experiences of both the band and its followers and will be continuously updated as events happen or as more material is gathered. With the upcoming concert tours the opportunity to gather different views, emotions and experiences is vast.

The physical work can be done by fan volunteers (crowdsourcing as this is known in the business and scientific communities i.e. tapping into the talent and expertise of multiple volunteers) and the result can be presented in a multimedia PDF format. This could be the “Band Chronicle with contributions from both, band members and their fans and would contain the complete history of the band. It can be updated as events happen and posted on the TPC website (or others) for viewing.

The multimedia PDF format (as opposed to HTML) lends itself to repurposing as the band sees fit, with minimal modifications i.e. this one constantly evolving "book" can be
either distributed electronically (containing text, video and audio clips) or printed as a book conventionally (coffee table format as a collectors item). Obviously copyright and artistic control belong to TPC, the fans may contribute material of their own making (stories, video, audio etc.) surrendering their rights to the band to protect the interests of TPC and your record label.

Dave, I would love to hear from you or anyone else their thoughts on this idea.

Thank you for your time,

Bill.

Dear Dave, I have observed that trash mags love "bumpspotting," that is predicting who is expecting. Why don't you start sporting your own little bump? {From your stomach that is.} That should get them talking.

Finally! Gregg and I will be back live on Spread Radio Live tomorrow night from 7:00pm-9:00pm PST. We have a lot to catch up on and a lot of music to bring. We will be talking live to Isobel, our new Vixen of the Month and members from the band KHZ.

This is funny: Where is Dave? "Navarro presumably was back in Los Angeles, where he was probably "working on some new music" or some other bullshit excuse like that."

Well, Dave WAS at home working his ass off! That and watching Season Four of West Wing! Hahahaha. That is a picture of Carmen with her personal publicist and a publicist from the new Scary Movie 4.

And the mystery woman? Our mutual friend who joined us at Carmen's Birthday Party in NYC! This is just getting stupid!

Oh... Dig the new Network Control Panel!!! Awwwww hell yeah, son!!!

just a repost of yours from April, when Perez was making accusations about your marriage..and then tonight, you were letting him go on and on about how he speaks the truth?

I'm confused, Dave, it's ok if you don't answer this, just something that's been bothering me for a while, why you would suddenly start befriending someone whose only reason for NOT bashing you is that you are letting him into your 'circle of trust'.
love,

This is a very important question!

1.) When are you going to do your own personal masturbation file for us gals?

Of course we want you to yell out all of our names! I guess you would have to jack off several times, the more the merrier!

Hey Dave. :-) Hope you’re having a wonderful evening. :-) I only caught the last half of CFR tonight, so I’ll catch the rest when it hits rotation. Grats on “Go On hitting iTunes. Excellllent. :-) Cool that you’re getting some October dates in for TPC—that’ll make for lots of happy peeps. *Rolling my eyes* at the scandal rags. Are there any hot chicks left in LA they haven’t tried to link you with, yet? (No, I’m not asking that for the Sunday 10. LOL) Not bad for a guy living out of a box. ;-P When you’ve got it, you’ve got it, dude. Questions… Hmmm… Is there any question no one has asked you, yet, that you wish they would? If so, what is it and what’s your reply. :-)

Posted by: Sanlin at September 30, 2006 11:34 PM

Hahaha I'm finding this sooo hilarious... there's all these chicks in here saying they're the perfect height for Dave or whatever and then they find it necessary to add their bra size. Nice job, girls ;) bahaha
Anyway I would have to agree with D'Anerah as my question is - when are you going to privilege us Aussies with a visit?
But I have a real one. If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? (And don't say world peace - the girl from the Czech Republic has already taken the crown for Miss World hahaha).

My question would be:
When are you going to tell these middle aged desperados, that get Dave Navarro birthday cakes, TPC tattoos and believe that you give hidden messages in television interviews because you know that they'll be watching, a big fat reality check and establish the fact that if they were anywhere near as close to knowing you as they like to think they are, they would be at your house visiting you and not stalking you on your blog?
HOW FREAKING HILARIOUS!

Posted by: Nunzilla at October 1, 2006 02:43 AM

Ok, one final question. When are you going to give the boot to posters who constantly put down others, off the board? This is getting tiresome, so I just want to know how long I can continue to berate and insult your guests.

Actually, you will find that I don't continually put down others on this board or berate and insult others. If you read my previous posts you will note that I never have.

Nunzilla, you seem like an angry and frustrated person. Are you having problems finding a girlfriend? Are you hung up about your penis size? I can't think of any other reason why you would spend time slinging insults. It really is sad, I hope you sort your life out soon. Why not take up a hobby? start doing sport? This would help to release the pent up aggression which you have from clearly not having any sex for a while.

Would you consider adding a feature to the blog which allows people to disable other individuals from posting comments? Maybe include some nifty sound effects? I think this could be loads of fun.
What’s your favorite tattoo currently? I like your eleven twenty two – I think that’s what it says.

Posted by: meribella at October 1, 2006 04:57 AM

Dave..here's sort of a corny question...you've been performing for years and are one of the best guitarists I've ever heard, do you ever get nervous before going out on stage and if so how do you get over it? I was in a band for a fleeting moment, playing bass, and would get really sick before a show. The band broke up and I never pursued another one just because of that reason. I still get nervous about doing many things that puts me in the public eye...so to speak..I hope to hear from you so that I can try to apply your technique to other things in my life.
thanks.

OK, Nunzilla, look who’s acting like a stalker when you’re obviously stalking us over at the Asylum because that’s the only place you’d have read the above to comment on. It was MY birthday cake that you’re deriding and my friends know what I’m interested in, they did it as a day-brightener, something you obviously are not very good at.

As for the “hidden messages, do your homework. No imagined hidden messages. Dave TOLD us right here to watch for something, held up a clue, then made a video and posted it on youtube for us to find. See this post:
http://www.6767.com/archives/2006/06/editing.html#comments

Also, Steve “gave us a sign when they performed on Leno—see for yourself —http://www.thepanicchannel.com/archives/2006/08/tpc_live_tonigh.html#comments. If you’re going to start trying to be condescending to people at least do the courtesy of
a. Registering at the asylum that you so obviously lurk at to get your “ammo, but I know, you’re a rebel or something and won’t join the “fam; and
b. Doing your homework so you don’t look like a complete fool.

I think you need the reality check, hon—we are having a little fun, what’s wrong with that? None of us are under the impression that we are real life “friends with Dave, would NEVER DREAM of stalking him or invading his privacy, and even when we’ve met him, try not to be intrusive fangirls and bother him.

If Dave didn’t want to create a “family atmosphere here, he wouldn’t do those things. So instead of putting others down and stalking us, why don’t you go do something productive, like give some time to a charity?

I truly pity you, you seem like you are bitter and angry, and could use a little fun in your life so you don't feel the need to put others down. So sad.

I know it may sound funny for a teacher to say this, but institutional education is highly overrated. What attracts me to Dave, other than the obvious, is that he IS highly intelligent...diploma or not.

The "knowledge' that I have from books may help with vocabulary choices and trivia contests, but it's the knowledge I have or have not gained from life that helps me with living...n'est ce pas?

Questions Regarding the Jane's Addiction 'Best Of' - Up From the Catacombs.

1. It says "Compilation Produced By: Jane's Addiction and Mason Williams"

Did you actually have any involvement to do with the release?

2. Did you have a say in the tracklisting at all?

3. Why on earth was 'Superhero' chosen from Strays as opposed to others like 'True Nature' (which was even a single and therefore wouldn't be out of place on a compilation release) or something like 'To Match the Sun' or 'Price I Pay'?

Hope all is good Dave, and I'm really digging (ONe) - I've let a number of friends hear the album and they loved it.

Dave-

Just listened to the podcast of last night's show over on Billy's site. I didn't make it on air (my husband did he asked that oh so intriguing question about how you felt about the Cult when they first came out...I understand you busting on him. He is a fan though so take it easy on the fans that call you...we actually love your music and buy your stuff! It was cool talking to you and Billy. The pressure once you realize you are actually talking to you is too much, I couldn't get everything out I wanted to and forget witty or funny....So my question is...Are you afraid of Tito? Just kidding...take care, Your Fans in ATL.

Posted by: Tina at October 1, 2006 11:08 AM

So far my favorite question is "what do you want on your gravestone"...then again, most cemeteries censor what can be put on a stone -
one can't even have freedom of speech when dead.
I favor cremation - no messy putrefying, no danger of plastic flowers, no waste of land.

I'm a supporter of pirate radio, bacause my belief is that the FCC has no right to dictate what can be said over the airwaves, nor to 'control' the airwaves - which is their real objective. A modern little version of the Inquisition, they are (of course, lacking the torture and murder aspects) although the FCC would probably do that too if they could get away with it. One of my acquaintances is a networking guru who was continually stalked and harassed by the FCC while he ran pirate stations - it was absurd, what ridiculous lengths they went to in an effort to shut him down.

Aleister Crowley was a very intelligent man, and a gifted artist - his Thoth cards are quite beautiful. I separate art from the artist, so Crowley's being anti-semitic doesn't affect my enjoyment of his art; nor does my using or displaying it mean I agree with or promote any or all aspects of his beliefs...art for art's sake, in other words. There are plenty of people who would consider Satanism much worse than anti-semitism, and would be outraged over that association with the tattoo design. You can't please everyone in life, and who in their right mind cares?

Oh yes, a question. Hmmm.

How would you like yourself to be seen by history? Or, when people look back on the musical (and other) eras you lived and worked through, how would you like them to remember you and your contributions?

(That is a variation on the gravestone question, come to think of it...)

this is for sevenx and whomever was impersonating peebs. the symbol in question is called a unicursal hexagram. crowley may have used the symbol and claimed to be it's originator, but that is historically inaccurate. it was created by the hermetic order of the golden dawn. mostly used by thelemites, but is included in many pagan and wicca rituals as well. crowley made and adapted his own version of it, but he did not create it nor should it only be associated with satanism. do some research son!

Okay I was a bit lush calling in last night on CFR (I am a hick bitches so deal with it!) and was caught off guard, however Dave, I am trying to find an outlet for my music demise. Any suggestions on how to step it up here in Bama? Our stations have been taking over by the suits and don't know how to change it. So I continue to use this outlet of the internet to find what I am missing.

Where in the world would you find on this past Thursday at our Civic Center the President of the USA and American Idol present on the same day. Ironic...

Much love to ya here in B'ham and get on that damn plane and stop clubbin! ahahah
