A Whole Day Off?
(Thanx to Wendybird for the picture.) A whole day off! Wow! What to do? Gym, nap, movies? All of the above? First of all, let me start by saying that the charity show that The Panic Channel played at The Dragonfly was a lot of fun. I spoke to Anthony, the club's owner, and he told me that the event raised a lot of money for The Head To Hollywood organization. Thanx to The Suicide Girls, Sarah Silverman, Anthony, Ken Baker at US Weekly (the lesser of all the tabloid evils) and everyone who attended. Ken and Carmen are the cofounders of Head To Hollywood. It is good to see that not everyone in the tabloid world is out for blood and does something to give back. Good on ya, Ken! I have sworn off talking to tabloids ever again, but in light of Ken and Carmen's efforts, I will only talk to US in the future. Well, them and Perez. Perez is at least funny as hell and a little tongue in cheek. Plus, all the tabs go to him first anyway for their stories. He is usually actually at the things he is talking about and has the balls to run his own pictures and not hide behind a keyboard. I can respect that. Anyway, back to the show. We only played five songs acoustically but it was fun for us as we have never done an acoustic set before. My favorite was the acoustic Teahouse. Anyone tape it? Yesterday, we did a couple of songs on CD USA, a satellite music program on DirecTV. I'll have more info as to when that airs and I will post it soon. Interviews and performance... We did Teahouse and Left To Lose.
Tonight, between 7:00pm and 7:30pm PST, there is a good chance I will be talking to Storm Large on Spread Radio Live. Once I get confirmation, I will let you know for sure. Later today, KHZ's Raiana comes into town. I am going to try and grab some dinner or something with her so maybe I can get her on the show too.
So, it is Lukas, Toby, Dilana and Magni left on the show. Only two more tapings! Who will it be? Wow. Now that The Panic Channel is going out with Supernova, I all of a sudden have an invested interest. HAHAHA. NOW they tell me! Well, I don't have a say either way, so I guess it won't hurt for me to give my thoughts, but I'll wait on that. At this point I'd rather watch the show on Sunday (Tuesday) and see what the final four bring us before I make my final assessment. They all have strengths and weaknesses. Toby has a great voice that is solid, but he doesn't have the edge factor I would like to see. Lukas has a lot of edge, but vocally, I am not sure I would love hearing him for a whole two hour show. Magni is also way solid as a singer, but I worry about his command of the stage in terms of staying compelling for a whole set. Dilana has the voice and the edge down, but I worry that she lets the random temporary stuff effect her too much. Sure, she went through a tough time, but all entertainers do. She seems a little on 'tilt' these days. If she is going to let what people say effect her so deeply, I will definitely recommend that she doesn't start her own blog like this one! HAHAHAHA.

Hey Dave, It is awesome to see someone like you doing charity events to help those in need....you are one of a kind..I was excited to hear you would be touring with SN, but was actually only wanting to see TPC....Will you be at all the shows? There is one in Columbus Ohio, about 4 hours for me, but seeing you guys play would be worth the drive. Rock on and Stay Hot.....

Dave,
Could you give us a comment on what you thought about the decision to dump Storm Large? It was particularly curious after the Storm love-fest from the night before. And Gilby's deadpan reaction to her leaving was almost as interesting as his turning his back on Magni during the Supernova performance.

Dave,
Maybe this is the best experience to have before heading out into the real world. Maybe it is what Dilana needs. Lets face it, females and males react differently to lifes situations. Women are more emotional and expressive then men. This does not mean its a weakness, infact, it has been proven to be a strength when it comes to health and being able to take up slack for others. Better to learn it now then 5 years from now. Glad to hear everything went great. I miss L.A very much, but one day I will get a chance to return. can't wait to hear your show tonight.

DAVE,
Sure seems that you are favoring Dilana. Oh well everyone is entitled to their own opinion no matter how wrong it may be.
I really hope that she does not get this gig as it will be such a total disaster for the legions of fans who have dedicated their summer to this show. Dilana does not posses an edge she is just a scary looking individual who likes to scream and as far as the scream goes I personally could not stand it for more than 2 or 3 songs.
In all Dave I am thankful that RS:SN has introduced me to this site as I think that you are a great stand up guy (no matter how wrong your opinion is)
BTW, Lukas is the real deal and I could listen to him for two hours no problem.
Posted by: switch at September 8, 2006 11:42 AM
Hey Dave,
I love you and all but Lukas can actually sing....I promise. I personally can't deal with Dilana for 2 hours...she always sounds the same to me. To each their own though!!! Oh btw, can we get Rafael to be the lead guitar in Supernova instead of Gilby? Rafael is a way better guitar player and since I know you're busy and all....how about we get Rafa to do it. :-) Gilby can play rhythm. :-P

Storm AND Raiana on SRL, that will be very cool. Did you get something nice for Brooke on her birthday? You did know it was her birthday today right?
Posted by: B A Hughes at September 8, 2006 11:43 AM
Hi Dave,
Good to hear your thoughts on the whole RSSN wrap-up... Is any singer really that compelling for a whole evening? Sammy Hagar comes to mind for me, but even he'll get on nerves after about a half hour. I don't think we are built to listen to the same thing for hours on end... unless you change it up with a different singer or change it sonically... You know what I mean.
Cheers

Dave,
You talk about this person having the edge and this person not having it. Do you think this quality is required mostly by the lead singer? Or should everyone in the band have that edge? Quite frankly, probably the only person in Supernova who has this edge is Tommy Lee. Gilby and Jason seem to be in the same category as a Magni or Toby - very talented (obviously) but overall pretty normal... not dark, eccentric, whatever quality it is that gives one the edge. If all it takes to get the edge is some mascara, tats and painted nails then it should be an easy fix.
Another awesome Rock Star season... can't wait to see what is on tap for next year!

Hey Dave,
I watched your acoustic "Blue Bruises" on MTV Overdrive and thought it was phenominal. If you get your hands on a recording of acoustic "Teahouse" from last night, can you please make it available to your fans on the TPC website?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. (ONe) is a great piece of work. Steve is an incredible vocalist. My three favourite tracks are "Teahouse of the Spirits", "Awake", and "Lie Next to Me" in no particular order.

At this point, I'm not sure whether to look forward to the next episode of RS:SN or not. I mean, this is my impression of who's left:
Toby - OK. Almost seems like an ex-boy-band member or something. Voice is pretty brassy for my taste. Is there a genre of music called "frat rock"?
Dilana - Implosive, lacking as a musician, and has a single vocal style that gets boring after two songs.
Lukas - Great rock attitude, but his voice grates after about half a song.
Magni - Solid...but not very exciting in any way.
I was seriously puzzled by this past week. Storm killed it on the Bowie song, brought the house down with a very musical and rocking original song, and then moved everybody to tears with her Floyd cover the next night. You and the band praise the hell out of her...and they send her home?
You know what, I'm a psychic! Here's what was going through everybody's mind on Wednesday night during Storm's song:
Dave.oO(This Lady can write great songs, rock the house, then sound this good tonight singing an emotional song? She’s going places. These guys would be idiots to send her home.)
Tommy.oO(Um, she’s HAWT, dude. If only I had a weekend with her, a boat, and a video camera...)
Jason.oO(I haven’t seen rock music talent like this in years. I’ll bet these other two guys are going to send her home) **begins crying**
Gilby.oO( )
So, Storm goes home and Supernova misses an opportunity to be memorable...

Honestly, so bizarre putting a band together on a reality tv show. It doesn't seem natural. I think you, as the band, running a really high risk of screwing yourself. I mean, doesn't everyone have an off night? And on nights, for that matter? Yet, they're sent home or "kept" based on 1 performance...It's like, "Let's see how you GROW, and we'll judge you accordingly".
I love that The Panic Channel got together because it just fell into place naturally, based on what felt right to them at the time.

Love the show but wasn't planning to go to a concert. Love TPC...will definitely go to a concert now! Do you know though if they plan to do a second leg to the tour and will you guys be with them if they do?

Just thought i would mention to you that here in my home town this weekend is a music festival.Mainly surrounded around norman petty studios.Check it out.It was a recording studio back in the 50s.It is famous for recording Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison.Check it out if you can,its part of rock and roll history.Peace from new mexico

I am not sure who I want for Supernova. Dilana or Toby would be my pick. I really like Dilana but if drama doesn't find her, she finds it! I have never been to a concert and now that I know when TPC will be in So Cal I might just have to go! 143

Dave, I've personally listened to Lukas's own music for several weeks now and he has never grated. A 2 hour concert would be nothing. What's up with that comment? I thought you liked him. If you're pushing Dilana, I want none of that please.
That grates.

hey Dave. Glad to see the charity a big hit!!
People helping people, always a good thing.
Dilana- can't see it happening, too unstable.
Lukas- don't like his voice.
Magni-boring
Toby-I like him, entertaining and can sing.Only one I can see winning this.
What to do on a day off???MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Get a hot tub full of milky chocolate and jump in.
Smooth and creamy sweetttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!

OH GREAT DARK ONe,
gee...and I thought you were the all powerful one in control over the show the entire time...
OH THE DISAPPOINTMENT!!
O'DARK ONE...here's a suggestion for your day off...SLEEP!! Everyone on the show is starting to look a tad bit ragged! TLee is going to fall off his fucking chair if someone sings a ballad! And Gilby has the serious "NO SLEEP GROUCHES" in a bad way.(looked like he didn't even comb his "hair"..) and Jason...well, Goddess Bless Jason...You are a busy dead one...take the time while you got it...
KEEP IT CREEPY,
Draven

I think I can take Lukas, Toby or Magni's voice for a 2 hour show, more than I could Dilana...although she is talented, I couldnt listen to her for long...
Posted by: Sharon at September 8, 2006 11:57 AM
Why on the show do you tell Lukas week after week how great he is doing and then on your blog say that he is not that good???????
Sounds a little hypocritical
Posted by: misery at September 8, 2006 11:57 AM
Dave,
I agree to each their own. Personally I could listin to Lukas all night. I listen to him now for two hours or more with no problem.
Love Ya,

"Dilana has the voice and the edge down..."
Oh please, that is the funniest thing I've read all day.

Dave, Dave, Dave,
Please don't tell us that you could stand to hear Dilana for 2 hours??? I'll ask like Roger Rabit, Pllllleeeeaaaseeee???? I can't stand her voice. She sounds like Marge Simpsons Sisters!!! I love you, love your style and if you have any influence, please decide to go with Lukas to front the band... He has the total package and he can do it and do it well. Look at him like Robert Smith meets Billy Corgan, they both sell a lot of records, right????
Love you,

I AM SO PSYCHED that Panic Channel is going on the road with Supernova and the house band. That is a GREAT line up. Plus I love watching you live Dave, You are so much FUN! I will be in Denver supporting you best I can because there is NO way I have the money to drive/fly to somewhere you're going to be. Have a great time love!

Welcome to the tour Dave! Should be a blast. I for one would love Lukas to get the gig with Supernova. 2 Hours of him wouldn't be enough. Wouldn't I love to be there when he launchs off the stage into the crowd. Hell yes, rock it Lukas. He's captivating to watch, sounds good and should make an excellent lead man. Can't wait to see you rock out too.
Go Lukas!

Wow I actually agree with everything you said .It is a very hard decision for the band. I do have to say though if you they choose Dilana my husband and I will be both happy. We both love her. He loves you and Jason and I am a fan of Tommy and Gilby back in the day. Oh my gosh we might actually be able to go to a concert together and listen to the same CD.LOL I am not going to bash anyone of the contestants here as I have already won I was introduced to Dilana. We thank you guys for that.

WHOA!!!!
2bcraxylikeu posted “Lets face it, females and males react differently to lifes situations. Women are more emotional and expressive then men. Well not to jump on you, Crazy, since plenty of people are thinking the same thing, but….
Wanna know why there aren’t more women in rock??????
I had 10 good years at the top (now retired). Know why I could do it when so many others can’t? Cuz I wasn’t a wimpin’ cryin’ big-mouthed woe-is-me-give-me-a-break-cuz-I’m-female-whinin-beeatch. Dilana thinks she can hang with the boys – yeah, you can, Dilana. In your wildest dreams. I like the girl but PA-LEEZE don’t ask me to give her a break cuz she’s female!! Welcome to the music biz, folks.
Oh, & BTW, DAVE!! Thanks so much for this blog!! Lots of repetition but also some intelligent, well-thought out opinions. People in the biz are just as wound over RS/SN as the fans are. I guess you see it too, so know the arguments are different, but just as intense. Wow, how smart are you to be sitting right in the middle of it.

Great pic Wendybird! Dave.. you look great. Loved the last RS:SN show! You and Storm rockin was incredible. Thanks for the treat! and to hear her with you on SRL?? ohohoh.. just icing on the cake. Sending out make it happen vibes as we speak.
Good on ya for the charity event..thanks for that. You are an inspiration and I for one admire you more and more for the work, talent, energy and drive you give!

Hey Dave
Glad your bandl has been added to the tour. I was going to see who SN chose first before buying tickets, but now if they pick Toby I can just leave after your set. You guys will be great! Toby...Nice guy but how many times can you sit through him running through the crowd just to keep you interested? If Lukas wins - I'll be sticking around for the encore. Look forward to seeing you soon!
Posted by: canfan at September 8, 2006 12:11 PM
I'm jonesin' for that acoustic rendition of Teahouse, Dave. Did Perkins play bongos on it, or was it sans drums? Like you'll answer this query! :)
Posted by: Bri@n at September 8, 2006 12:12 PM
Lukas is the only rocker left that would be worth paying the $150 ticket price for.
I would listen to him for to hours anytime. Dilana I could stand for maybe two songs so she would be a good guest performer with the houseband on the tour.
Lukas rocks!!!
C'mon Dave, You know it!

Posted by: Dave Navarro Jr. at September 8, 2006 12:18 PM
Hey Dave, I pretty much agree with your take on the remaining rockers. Here is my input... Dilana- I think it would tick off alot of people if she won, she has lost her fan base and that would hurt the band, plus her performances lately haven't been so hot. Toby- great to look at but yeah, no edge, still immature. Lucas- To punk for the band, not really rock and roll plus remember in Vegas when he passed out early, you need someone who will take care of business. Magni- I would so love to see an upstanding guy win it, he is very together and I think you should listen to how the fans are voting, we love him, and I think he is very intertaining, what a great heart, he would be an inspiration to many. Take care.

Hey Dave,
I am a big fan and I love you to pieces but I have to tell you that for me Lukas is the ONLY one for SN. I have not stopped listening to him since day one and I have become addicted to his voice. When he is on stage I just can NOT take my eyes off him. He is so expressive when he performs and that voice is sooooo sexy. I could listen to him day and night (infact I do). I only have one request, can you ask him if he wouldn't mind singing me to sleep at night preferably every night. Luv Ya and best of luck with the new gig.
Posted by: Laura Mauti at September 8, 2006 12:22 PM
Dave... Kudos man - for all you do. Truly.
First, this is the first time I've written to you and I don't believe in writing for writing's sake - its about actually having something worth SAYING, y'know? I intro this way with the hopes that you'll understand my skipping all of the oft-seen and overused "Oh-I-love-you-so-much"'s and "You-make-such-rad-tunes" bits, in favor of getting down to something more interesting. Suffice to say if I wasn't a fan, I wouldn't be here, right? Hope you're cool with that. :)
So - on with it. :)
ROCKSTAR: I've watched both seasons, almost all shows (I actually went to high school with JD many moons ago which is what sucked me into Rockstar in the first place last year.) I fully enjoy the show, the band's antics, the incredible if different talent in the rockers - even the show's undeniable commercialism - and I laughed out loud that you have received comments about keeping your mouth shut. First, where's the fun in that? Second, its your job... one this girl likes to watch and listen to. Even occasionally disagree with... the basis of music's soul being individual choice and diversity, right? I digress.
I was typing in my assessment of the final four when I read the above note you posted today - which it literally echoed almost verbatim. I couldn't agree more with your most recent comments. I'd have like to have seen Storm's energy and vocal's stay in place of Magni's (your performace with her was electric, totally captivating), but that choice wasn't available as the votes went... Nuff said.
PANIC CHANNEL: Cool cool beans, the bits I've heard. WIll be listening to more shortly. I make no apologies for not being more familiar yet as I believe every fan starts sometime... :) I respect your charitable position and thank you for being REAL.
Lastly for now - ONE QUESTION IF YOU PLEASE.
As you're an obvious fan and supporter of the music industry and especially newcomers to it, I pose a technical one to you: How can one contact the lighting technicians or even lighting designer (Oscar Dominguez?), or perhaps get a look-see at the equipment list? Do you have any idea, and if so, would you be willing to help?
One of the many cool things making that show look good is the lighting, and a good friend of mine is an LD here in Canada. He's been in the industry for years with several sucesses, but he's drooling over some of what we see on your set.
Help me mop his face with any help you can provide... besides, a response from you would give this gal the grin of her month. :)
Thanks for listening Dave - I repeat, you're a cool dog.
~SCARY

Dilana needs some good songwriting in order to front the band. I can not imagine listening to a whole show of similar songs with her fronting the band. If SN can write bunch of good interesting music, she is the right person for the band.
Magni and Toby have the ability to make mediocre songs interesting with their great voices and range. if the songwriting is not up to standard either of them could be the right person for the band. I think Bono and how he can make those boring U2 songs sound good.
Lucas is no frontman, he is to unstable and simple to be able to front a band like SN in the long run. His voice is terrible and he looks like some neu metal rocker from the nineties. With him as a frontman SN will not last for long. I do like eccentric personalities, but he is just trying to hard.
Looking back Ryan Star would have been perfect for the band. Has the looks, decent voice, good songwriting skills and the right attitute. Big mistake to let him go.
Posted by: Izzy at September 8, 2006 12:25 PM
Just readin that post that Cory left about what was goin through SN's heads as they watch Storm perform, thats some funny shit right there, and the sad thing is its probably exactly what they were thinkin.
Posted by: Justplainj at September 8, 2006 12:25 PM
Hey Dave, I agree with you 100%. And I could listen to Dilana for two hours. She has a great voice and stage presence. She looks great with SN and I believe that they could work together. With her unique voice Super Nova's music would be instanly recognized. I know that she went through a hard time but it will only make her stronger. With Lucas, I have a hard time understanding what he is singing (it's almost muffled). I like him but I di not believe that SN and Lucas have the same musical tastes. As for Magni, I adore him and I think he has the best voice by far, he just lacks the stage presence - too bad. As for Toby - loved his original song but I'm just not sure that he is right for the group. Well I guess that we will just have to wait and see but my vote goes with Dilana.........
By the way, got your CD and it is great.

Well, I don't have any acoustic stuff for TPC so if you want to make that available... (I didn't try to grab the radio show).
Dilana did take it hard, but her career took a serious hit by the show so it's understandable. If she wasn't picked she could have had collosal momentum coming off the show. Now she's going to have much, much less. Seeing part of your dream die in front of your eyes is going to be hard.
I don't agree about Toby's edge. Yeah, he's a funlover, but I think a couple months on the road with Tommy will put some callouses on him.
I agree that Magni's deal is his stage presence. He's a great singer, but the presence issue can't be denied.
I'm just not in the Lukas camp so I can't comment, but I will anyway. I find him only mildly more compelling than Magni. He seems too inside himself when he performs and I'm just not a fan of his incomprehensible vocals.
Hope you get to talk to Storm. Looking forward to tuning in.
Posted by: Joshua Godinez at September 8, 2006 12:28 PM
Magni IS THE BEST. But I'm curious, does the public get to vote one more time? I hope not, I wished that there would just be one show (one night) left, the rockers would perform and the Supernova dudes would pick one out of the four to front their band! ALL in an LIVE show!!!

Dave, Dave, Dave,
"Lukas has a lot of edge, but vocally, I am not sure I would love hearing him for a whole two hour show."
Lukas has been on constant rotation on my ipod for a couple of weeks now, no problems there.
"People Like Us" love him and his voice,
"Trust Me" on this,
He is the "Future's Fire",
"The Greatest Day" was discovering the music of Lukas,
Dave, get a "Grip", really,
You're making my "Headspin" with those comments,
"Wherever I am Going" his music goes with me,
I feel completely "Riddled" by what you said,
"Who am I", just another "Bored and Gorgeous" Lukas fan,
Don't turn us into the "Lonely Ones".
*cries in frustration at what you just said*

Dilana's look reminds me of the lead singer from that horrible eighties metal band, Twisted Sister. Her voice is awesome, but she needs a decent stylist. I'd love to see a female singer for that band, however I don't think dilana is the right choice.
Storm is way edgier, but I'm glad she got sent away, giving her the exposure for a solo career. I would love to see her top of the charts. Besides you, she's the best thing on that show: smart, sexy and talented.
BTW your radio show is awesome!!! Who knew that you were such a geek? I love it.

Dave,
Great shows last week. You probably don't read these comments, but, I'll throw my two cents in anyway. I think the show has definitely picked the best 4 rockers out of the bunch, and that anyone of them could lead SuperNova.
Of the 4 left, I think Toby has grown the most during the show. Dilana has been the strongest but may be cracking under the pressure. Lukas is not my style, but he definitely deserves to be in there. Magni can be very strong, but also can be boring.
If Dilana can handle the pressure, I think she is the one to pick, otherwise, I would go with Toby.

Lukas has the most incredible vocal range and stage presence than I've seen for a long time - he has remained consistent, open to suggestion and critisism, is a true rocker 24/7 as is obvious on the reality parts of the show, and whenever that boy opens his mouth to speak - he shows himself to be smart and well spoken - the dude rocks - whether or not he makes it with Supernova, he is destined for greatness - rock on LUKAS!!!!
Posted by: JAMMA at September 8, 2006 12:35 PM
Just wanted to say this 50+ woman loves your music (not to mention how sexy you are). Also, for a rocker who likes to get down and dirty, you have an extremely well written blog. Correct grammer, punctuation, and a humorous concise writing style. An educated rock star, how impressive. Why do the tabloids never comment on this aspect of you? Love Rockstar Suprnova and especially your incisive comments.

Hey Dave, do me a favor? Not that I really care who wins, but if Dilana does...when you guys are kicking back, turn that woman onto The Who! How can you be 34, call yourself a rocker, and not know any fucking Who songs? And after that, turn her onto some Sex Pistols, give her a lesson on what PUNK is. And very cool, hoping Storm gives you a ring. That woman has some meaningful things to say that we all might learn from and you two have some good chemistry. I'm sure that will be a fun conversation/interview! I'm listening. As for the tour, I'll just have to keep hoping I catch The Panic Channel at a smaller venue one day and keep listening in the meantime. And, personally for me, not with Supernova - can't afford it and really, way too "corporate" for me. There's more to life than money and things, but I know you'll stay true to who you are Dave. And best for last - very cool to hear about the success of the charity event. That's what I dig about you. You give back to the community. And I agree with the previous poster, put the coffee down, have a little soup, and get some damn sleep! Sweet dreams from on top of a New Mexican mesa.

Who's dave navarro
Posted by: Perez at September 8, 2006 12:39 PM
this "edge" you speak of I thought Lukas had it.
You say Dilana has it. Thing is Dilana seems to lose her "edge" whenever somethings not going her way.
So I am wondering - is the "edge" like an orgasm - can you fake it?
Posted by: Serafina at September 8, 2006 12:39 PM
I agree that Dilana has the edge necessary to hold her own without being overpowered by the band.
As as for her stress level? Well she was REALLY put through the wringer far, FAR worse than anyone was last year and both Jason and Storm have said the reality portions were anything BUT actual reality, so I can't blame her for feeling put upon.
I love how she put her angst and anger into her music. That's one of the main reasons I sing. It's a seriously great way to relieve stress, which I'm sure I don't have to tell you :-)
Posted by: Fiona HV at September 8, 2006 12:39 PM
Lukas sounds like shit when he sings. I don't need to understand all of the words to songs to enjoy them but give me a fucking break!
I have purchased tickets for SN already but if Lukas is the singer - I'll be selling them as soon as I can get rid of them.
Toby sounds weak when he sings in the higher registers and his stage presence consists of the two handed mike grab and the psuedo-rap "I'm constipated" forward lean (a lot like Ryan in that respect). I can only image how dull he would be if he can't run around the stadium like he does on the show.
Dilana - she changes it up nicely. People don't get tired of Janis, Stevie, Melissa, Chrissie, Blondie, Grace, Ann, et al, for two hours. I think people could hang with Dilana for that long. Not a fan of the gypsy, witch, goth , whatever the fuck that is but she is entertaining as hell. She may be emotional (she is a chick after all -it's what they do) but she still kicked ass and brought the rock on one leg!! Hopping around like a one legged rocker in an ass-kicking contest!! W00T!!
Magni - yawn
Posted by: DA at September 8, 2006 12:41 PM
Sup Dave?
Sn needs a person who can write....so far the only song that I liked was the one Lucas did, he had the chemistry with Gilby and has the chops to pull it off. Toby and Magni are too generic...YAWN! As for Dilana..I would rather listen to your finger nails scrapping down a calkboard....For me and thousands of others Lucas is the only choice....anything else would be professional suicide for SN!
Posted by: Diane at September 8, 2006 12:42 PM
Dave How bout SLEEP on your day off...
Stop with the reverse psychology MAN you already know LUKAS is the man .... Honesty fuck two hours I can listen to him for dayyyyyyyyyyyyys!!!! You are probably tired of all of them by now because you have listened to them for months???!!!!???
LUKAS.. SN needs him and I stress NEEDS!!!
Dilana.. 5 min and I need a smoke break, Its the voice man just makes me fiend for a cig!!
Magni.. BORING, BORING, BORING...
Toby..Unless everysong has a HEY or a HO, I dont see It working..
I definatley think you, Tommy and Lukas would make the PERFECT trio... And grab the guitar player from the house band... THE HOUSE BAND KICKS ASS BTW!!!
Posted by: Nyree at September 8, 2006 12:44 PM
Now that's simply "unbelievable dude"! You're entitled to your opinion of course, as we all are but there is no way on earth I would ever get sick of hearing Lukas. Hell, I've listened to nothing but Lukas Rossi music for quite a while now. He is a gifted singer, a poet and a prince. I can't believe I've been so drawn in to his sound. I haven't felt this way for years about a musician. Lukas is the ONLY sane choice for Supernova, if not, I'll follow Lukas's career from now on anyways. Supernova can try their act for a year with someone else but it will not be the band it could be with Lukas in front. Maybe they are not right for Lukas anyway. He is in a class by himself and should probably stay there getting his own band together to take over the music scene with his own music, not the silly stuff they've written. They only have about 10 songs written according to Tommy, the rest would come from the lead singer. How do you think Dilana is going to rise to that occasion? Their loss if they don't pick him.

Ken has told me a lot about Head To Hollywood. It's such a cool organization. I like that you are helping in introducing it to more and more people. How can ordinary folks like us be of help?
Posted by: sara at September 8, 2006 12:47 PM
Hi Dave--just putting in a plug for Lukas, after seeing your blog.
I'm a 49-year-old pathologist. I often come into work a play Lucas Rossi's performances from RS:SN at work---sometimes many times a day. He just puts me in the best mood--such talent, such charisma, and a voice to match. I could listen and watch him for 2 hours--gladly. 'Hoping that he is chosen to front Supernova.

LUKAS...one man show
Magni...NO show
Dilana...Karaoke show
Toby...One hit wonder show

Right on Dave.
Simple, easy to read assessment of the Rocker's. Could have been even a little more simplistic and said:
Dilana, you are the Rockstar!!!!!

I think I'm heading out tonight, hopefully tonights SRL will be on rebroadcast tomorrow!
I appreciate Dave giving us his point of view and I look forward to the last week. I think it will be quite interesting.
Bottom line though, I think Dilana has it in the bag. Its a numbers game. She has a ton of views on YouTube and I can only imagine that the internal numbers on rockstar.msn.com is going to be similar not to mention, even though she was voted in the bottom 3, Mother Mother is the number one song on MSN music right now. Hell I bought it. A lot of her songs have been in the top 10 thoughout the weeks and thats what its about, selling songs. America has the attention span of a gant man. Some die hard fans will remember the drama on the show but the general populace will forget by episode 2 of Lost or CSI. So far as the songwriting is concerned? I don't think thats a huge factor.I think Gilby, Jason and Tommy are more then happy to recieve more residuals then their front person.
Don't get me wrong, I think Ryan would have been awesome. Storm too but it seems like SN are looking at the bottom line. This project is probably their retirement fund and I'm chippin in. :)

TPC show was really great the other night - thank you! I"m used to the kick ass rockin' version of the tunes, but the acoustic set was really fun and beautiful. You all really look like you are enjoying yourselves up there, and that is part of what makes it all the more fun for us to be there.
Wendybird always takes beautiful pics of you guys. She should be one of your official rogue photogs.
Enjoy the day off.

I could listen to Lukas 24 hours a day; every day. Bonus! He's absolutely mesmorizing on stage. He's the one performer whose presence wouldn't be overwhelmed by Tommy's.
Posted by: fran at September 8, 2006 12:56 PM
How is this Lukas muppet going to outshine T Lee? Getting a bit tired reading haleluja posts about Lukas from a small group of people. Lukas is not the right man for the job,he is perfect at what he has been doing recently.....singing theme songs for cartoons. Thinking of it, he sounds a bit like a cartoon character him self.
Posted by: Izzy at September 8, 2006 12:59 PM
you're right dave i wouldn't want to "hear" lukas either for 2 hours...that's why i admire Lukas so much because he makes me feel the music like no other has in a long time, i could care less about the words, the message of every song he sings is conveyed loud and clear.
Posted by: sassy at September 8, 2006 01:00 PM
I am definately feeling Lukas. He's got the look, the attitude, the talent. I personally think he would work great for Supernova. Good luck with your future.

"You talk about this person having the edge and this person not having it. If all it takes to get the edge is some mascara, tats and painted nails then it should be an easy fix."
WHOA... this is almost exactly what I was going to say, Mitch! (Not to mention that SN's MUSIC itself does not sound all that edgy to me yet.)
Oh, well. May the best, or most suitable, person win. It should be an interesting tour either way.
On a non-RS-related note, I'm glad the charity show was a success and a good time.
Enjoy the much-deserved day off! :)
Cheers,

If this is truly only about who will make the quickest buck for those guys in the span of a year and then get ditched, then I say get Lukas off the show now. He is so not deserving of that.
He is a star and will shine better alone, not as some commercial venture on their part to line their pockets the fastest. Because with Dilana there is no staying power, no possibility of ever making a lasting impression on music, no credibility. Period.
I guess I've been really misled by the Supernova blogs on what they want in a lead beacause nowhere in that can you read Dilana Dilana Dilana.
Posted by: HelterSkelter at September 8, 2006 01:06 PM
Dave - I really admire how much much effort you put into living full-out and trying to make the world around you a better place. Good for you. Wish I was more like you. On another topic, I don't think I could listen to Toby's voice for "two hours" (if that's really how long SN will be performing). It's too thin of a tenor and kind of a "one-note." And I just don't buy that he can perform while staying on stage; he's always had to scamper around. Dilana, maybe, but I think her style is dated (classic rock), and I just wouldn't go if it was her. Magni is just too bland--both vocals and stage performance. I'd be bored after a couple songs. Lukas -- he's better on multiple listens, changes it up all the time, and amazing to watch. He's dreadful-sounding on TV, though. What's that all about?
Posted by: werlkj at September 8, 2006 01:06 PM
Dave,
Please, when you talk to Storm, tell her how people everywhere are grieving her dismissal from the show. I've wanted Lukas to win from day one, but her elimination just sucked the life right out of the show for me (and my whole family), and it threw a big wet blanket on our enthusiasm for Rock Star Supernova in general.
And for the very first time, an elimination sucked the life out of the message boards too. Suddenly it wasn't people just idiotically snarking and sniping at each other. It was widespread grief and incredulous disbelief that a performer and human being with such a gigantic capacity didn't make it to the final 4.
Tell Storm that she can't leave us now. That the public wants more of her, in any capacity she chooses. She is one of the most remarkable people we've seen on our screens, and we need more of her. Starting with Ellen on Monday, keep the thunder rollin' Stormy!

Hey Dave--is this your kid? (cut and paste from Dilana's site on RS:SN)
Dave Navarro Jr.
I will be along with my dad Dave touring with SuperNova. Wow this is gonna be the greatest present a 15 year old could have. I'm so excited, but at the same time I wouldn't want to tour with a lame old tired burnt out cigarrette bud like Dilana. My dad Dave and I agree, Supernova deserves someone young with a lot of imagination and energy. I hope Toby takes it all

Hi Dave - This is my first post and I would like to start by saying thank you for the support that you provided to Head to Hollywood. My 4 year old son is a cancer survivor currently at St. Jude (diagnosed with leukemia at age 2 1/2 and has 16 months of chemo left). It makes me feel comforted to know that others care and take the time to give to those who have to struggle with such a terrible disease. If you are ever in Memphis, the kids at St. Jude love to have visitors.
The Panic Channel album is AWESOME!!!! This is the album I have been waiting for. I love every song on it! Keep up the good work! I hope that there will be tour dates near Memphis so that my husband can take me out on a long awaited date!
Spread Channel live is great and reading your blog has become part of my daily routine. Thank you.
Hugs, Dawn

Dave,
Just found the site and am reviewing old comments and such.
Let me say I am impressed with your insite - and not put off that you speak your mind. I love Rockstar - I auditioned privately last year - and auditioned again this year. Of course, didn't make it - but I love watching the gals and guys every week.
Personally - I still love Dilana. She's got a very unique voice - and really is rivetting to watch. Yes, she's made msitakes, we all have. But they're also magnified for these kids being on a show like this. She's living and learning. I just her to know something Grace Slick told me once - live with no regrets , learn from everything. It all works out in the end. Hell - she has my mother as a fan (my mom is in her 50's and a carpenter's fan.) My mother is actually planning to road trip to see Supernova if she wins. And my mother loves you to - thinks you seem like a nice guy. Just thought you'd like to know.
On the others - I think Toby is great on stage - he's really stepped it up. I think when he stopped thinking so much and just let go (EVS) he really found his place.
Magni - nice guy, good on stage, but I don't know - for me he's forgettable. I didn't even remember his original after he sang it. Now, as the Dilana fan I am, I didn't remember hers either.
Lukas - well what's to say - interesting to watch - but damn I wish he'd change up his vocal style. There are points at the beginnings of some songs where he sounds incredible - then the vocals go back in his throat. It hurts my throat to here it - i'm just surprised he hasn't lost his voice. And personally - i thought he was trying to hard to perform like Jeff Buckley when he did Livin' on a Prayer. I'm a huge Buckley fan - and i don't know - it just came off wierd to me.
Alas - we lost Stormy. I luv her too. Ladylike is incredible and definitely the best original of both shows(though I luved Marty CAsey's Trees to.) She will do very well - and I think she's just all around a great rock chick.
Anyway, just wanted to post to you - luv Panic Channel. Keep it up! and if there is a Rockstar 3 - i'll audition again - maybe 3rd times the charm.
Have a rockin'day.

hi dave..
you always look hot as ever..
and the night when you played with STORM was memorable.. i hope you do that again..
about your comments reg. the rockstars..
with TOBY, i agree with you..
let me just add something to that..
for me, Toby is more of the "boyband" member..
although he's gorgeous, his voice doesn't seem to appeal to me that much..
his "UH OH UH OH UH OH" ------> i liked for about half an hour.. after that, it's out of my head.. out of my system..
with MAGNI, i absolutely agree.. beautiful voice.. but.. i can't see his energy.. no presence at all..
with DILANA, i liked her in the start of the show.. but right now, i'm sick of the DRAMA and i don't want to hear her say "im doin tihs song BECAUSE OF MY SITUATION" "BEING UNDER THE MICROSCOPE LIKE THIS" and definitely not this one, "THE LYRICS again --->my SITUATION"
enough of that..
well, LUKAS, he got me at "REBEL YELL" and i've been following him since... i have all his supernova performances/songs in my ipod, as well as his ORIGINAL songs, both with cleavage and rise electric, they're about 15 or more?? i think.. and that's what i listen to every hour, every day... the playcounts amount to a hundred now.. and i still can't get enough of it..
i won't listen to lukas for JUST 2 hours... I can even take him home, and have him sing for me for as long as he can..
oh he can sing for 2 hours alright!! YES HE CAN!!! and i will be right there beside him, and i will never be tired of listening..
that's about it dave..
just voicing out my opinion..
DAVE, You're a freakin living guitar legend!!
i love you and i love LUKAS too..
you BOTH have something in common man..
i know you see that..
rock on!!

Dave i love u and respect you but how could u possibly say something like that about Lukas???
Honestly, enough is enough. He is not only the best on this show by far. He is the most interesting, talented, original, captivating performer to come along in the music industry in years. You guys are blessed to have discovered him as are we for being able to watch him and im tired of him not getting the respect he deserves and people trying to say things about him to bring him back to the pack to make the show more interesting or whatever. I think it is a disgrace that he had to stand up in the bottom 3 this week. If SN picks him they will be one of the greatest bands ever because of the creative influence he will bring to this band. I can only imagine how SICK the tracks he puts out with them will be.
Now for Dilana. Dave come on, you are an intelligent person and if I can see her for exactly what she is (and im not even a musician) why cant you??? She is a complete and total phoney. She tries to have this tough rocker image but deep down she is a complete cornball. She has no ability to write lyrics. She is constantly putting down other people to try to make herself feel better. She has no class. She is nothing more then a cover singer and a one dimensional one at that. SHe is a screamer, she is a fake and for someone as intelligent as u to not see that bothers me. Come on dave.

Dave, you just want him for yourself. Smart move!
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 01:18 PM
F..k that!! Lukas is HORRIBLE. I hate his voice (well actually he hasn't got any voice), and I can never hear the words when he sings.
Dilana, sounds like a cat stuck in a tree!!
I think Magni has the best vocals, but Toby is completely he one who has the WHOLE package! Strong stage presence, voice, song writing skills and the looks!
If Supernova ends up picking Lukas....Oh well they won't sell many CD's... At least no where out of the U.S.
And they will be a sad group! Toby is the only one who can safe these sorry a.... with his energy and supertalent!!! But maybe its in Tobys and Magnis best interest not to win this contest...because they have the possibility to be very big....Supernova only has that opportunity if they pick T or M. If they pick D or L....well that´s their funeral by choice!! :-)
Posted by: Teba at September 8, 2006 01:21 PM
****but I worry that she lets the random temporary stuff effect her too much.****
Regarding what Dave said about Dilana ... I agree with all you said about all the contestants ... but I think the fact that this is a competition has a lot to do with the way Dilana has stumbled over her own consequences ... under other circumstances, I think she'd fair better. I look at it as a sign of how much she really wants this job, that should count for something.
Dilana is the only one of the entire group that I'd be interested in seeing with this band.
I wish Chris had stayed longer so we could have seen more of what he could do ... have a feeling he would have been a good fit, but he was nervous and I guess I think he would have grown out of that as the show went on ... I just think all of them should have had an extra week and Zayra should have left first .. she was entirely wrong from the get go and they knew it.

Dave!
I think you are one talented guy-and a very caring individual...as is Carmen.
Thanks it means a lot to me personally.
Posted by: Petra at September 8, 2006 01:23 PM
Dave dude - I think Lukas has the edge and I think he is facinating to watch. When he performs - even when I don't love the song - I find him pretty captivating. Not in a girly "oh he is so hot" way (that's what Toby's for) - but the glam goth guy is just interesting and compelling. I could definitely listen to him for 2 hours. BTW I LOVED his Living on a Prayer and I hate that song.
Actually, I think I would pay to see Lukas play - whoever was backing him up and I can't say the same about seeing SuperNova whoever was fronting them.
But if Lukas "edge" isn't SN thang - then at least I hope they pick the solid fun perfomers of either Toby or Magni.
Dilana (who I was a fan of to start) just got old. SN told Storm they hadn't seen growth the show before last - But Dilana started out strong and has just gotten worse while everyone else got better.
BTW - I never really saw Storm leading SN - but this was the first elimination I was really sad. Storm is a unique, ballsy, beautiful, hot as hell woman who I think will go far on her own because her spirit exuded on the screen. When you interview her - let her know that people truly loved her.
Cheers!

hi from the uk
lukas is the right person to front supernova and has been since his "creep" performance, they made their minds up then.
storm is incredibly talented but not right for the supernova music ,i hope you all keep your promise to play on her record!
of the other 3 only magni is professional enough to handle the band.
dilana cant write songs and toby doesn't have enough experiance.
just my thoughts...............

Great update, thanks. You had a lot of shit posted on here the past week or so - drove me bonkers reading it (ended up compelled to defend you in reply, sorry if that was wrong as you don't need defending) but does that mean that you find this a negative experience? There is always so much love here too but something as amazing as 6767 in some ways makes you vulnerable if you allow it. Hopefully you don't allow that. Personally I think learning to develop a shell is pretty much a baptism of fire so if Dilana wants a career in the public eye she needs to get going on a blog straight away! And begin to find strategies of dealing. Toby or Dilana to win... toes crossed.
AND V important - REALLY REALLY WANT to hear TPC playing an accoustic set. Is there any way it is ever going to reach our ears?
(Dave I want to move to the States and it's all your fault).
HAVE A WICKED DAY OFF! ENJOY! Silky kisses.x.x.x

Hi Dave...
I've never posted here before... I'm more of a 'lurker'... I live in Portland, Oregon so I'm a big Storm Large fan - love seeing her live show!... She totally rocks the house down!...
I was so impressed with her class, composure, & professionalism... Even when 'Dilby' slung his 'not original, not memorable' comments at her week after week, she smiled and took it like like a pro... The woman never resorted to shit-splattering or talking trash about anyone in the mansion or anyone on the show...
All that aside, she has far more talent - IMHO - than at least half of the final 4 remaining on the show, amybe all of them... And hell yeah, the lady's got edge!...
The first night I went to see her at Dante's, I was sitting by the door and this extremely tall woman walks into the door with these gigantic, platform boots making her even moreso - and some kind of furry hat, almost like the type Elmer Fudd wold wear... My GF and I look at each other like 'whathefuck?', but hey it's Portland, and almost anything goes here so whatever - I had no idea who it was since I'd never seen Storm (only heard the stories :)...
About an hour later, the lights go down and there she is, literally 'Larger than life'... The furry hat was still on, along with some clingy black dress, and I could almost swear she was sans undergarments of any kind...
Then came this booming voice that damn near shook the walls loose!... Rock, blues, ballads, originals, covers... Stormy worked the crowd, had us all in the palm in her hand, and by the end of the night I had a girlcrush that still brings goosebumps when I see her do her thing!...
What I've learned since then (after seeing my fair of Storm & The Balls gigs) is that the woman is SMART, sassy, confident, politically-aware, pro-diversity, and she basically embraces all the best things we love about Portland!...
I'm personally grateful that SN gave our Storm back to us... I'm not so sure they 'deserved' her... Hopefully the exposure will enable her to eek out a significantly better living - and get health insurance!...
Thanks for your positive, pro-Storm props, Dave!!... I think I'll root for Magni now, because none of the others do much for me, and this guy seems like the consummate professional all the way around... Another class act...
Go Panic Channnel!...

Dave, you're losing cred here.
Lukas is the only one I could listen to for two hours, all day and night for years to come actually. He is an awesome vocalist and performer, surely you jest! His music is moving and captivating, and no, Tommy did not coin that phrase, we Lukas fans said that from day one. No one has influenced our choice of Lukas but Lukas himself. No need for brainwashing, we are already brainwashed but by LUKAS.

Dave,
My husband's a big fan of your's and I was so luck to have bought tix to SN because now he is more excited to see you tagging along. T.O is going to rock at Massey Hall. Although with the show being so big, should have had it at the Air Canada Centre or Skydome.
Regarding your comments on SN, I have to say I agree with you to the most part. They are all great performers. But it has to be a right fit. Toby, has really stepped up to the plate, in the last few weeks. But I still can't see him fronting SN, he should be fronting a band like SUM41...Magni in my opinion has the best voice out of all 4 but lacks the stage presence that would make it captivating to watch, he is rather boring with that aspect. Dilana, when she performs like she did at the beginning, has so much intensity, but she has seemed to have lost it, these last few weeks. OMG especially that last bottom3 performance, sounded like nails on a chalk board. I actually had to mute the sound when she let that scream out.(too much drama surrounding her)And Lukas well, he definately has an edge, but his voice sometimes sounds alittle too raspy. Which is funny cuz if you listen to his other music, he sings so much better then what he is showing on TV. he knows how to sing, was in a church choir and actually went to the school of arts for his singing...so don't know whats up with that....
It will be a hard decession to make and I am glad its up to someone else. Here's an idea...they should keep both Dilana and Lukas...they sounded so great together at the beginning.
Regards
and cant wait to see you in January

I never thought I would say this, but I actually miss Zayra ;)
As much as I enjoy Magni´s talent, I think Toby or Lukas will get the gig. Magni would be great with the houseband; amazing chemistry going on between him and that band. I´m still hearing "Fire" in my head.
Posted by: Maria at September 8, 2006 01:31 PM
Hi ya Dave,
Here's an idea - make a CD of Lukas' music and a CD of Dilana's. Mix & match from past bodies of work and heck, even throw in some SN covers, if you want. Listen for several hours. Have your friends listen for several hours.
When you put them head to head MUSICALLY, Lukas will win, hands down. But that said... I think SN will pick BOTH Lukas & Dilana. Their voices sound great together (Webisode 1). Can you do anything about getting the band a lead guitarist, tho?
Posted by: Eylalei at September 8, 2006 01:32 PM
SOMBODY TOLD ME THAT THIS SHOW WAS MADE ABOUT LUKAS, and you know him becus he was the one o win this, and you guys is just doing it for the money, and i dont think that lukast is the one fore you. Magni or dilana are the one. pleas tell me if it is true, was this show about lukas, and from the beginning of this he was always the one to win this thing.
Posted by: patrika at September 8, 2006 01:32 PM
I think that Lukas has too much ego and let's face it the band needs only one ego... Tommy's lol.J/K love ya Tommy! I love Toby I think he could grow as he performs and be awesome. I would like to see Dilana win though if only to prove gals can rock as hard as guys.
Posted by: Michelle at September 8, 2006 01:39 PM
No please don't suggest they take both Lukas and Dilana. Lukas I can listen to forever but Dilana's voice just grates on my nerves. The only good part of that duet they did was Lukas's voice. Dilana's did not even come close to sounding harmonious to Lukas's. It was jarring whenever her part came up.
Go and listen to Livin on a Prayer again. You can't put her voice next to that heavenly sound.
Posted by: Paula at September 8, 2006 01:41 PM
Michelle, Tommy's ego loves him some Lukas. They would feed off each other. Do you even see him when Lukas is on, it's wild.

HI DAVE...
I CAME ACROSS YOUR SITE, AND I READ ABOUT YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT THE ROCKSTARS IN THE SN SHOW..
I SAW ONE VERY GREAT PERFORMANCE THAT I CANNOT FORGET, LITHIUM BY LUKAS ROSSI..
SINCE THEM I DOWNLOADED ALL THE SONGS THAT HE SANG IN SUPERNOVA, AND I WAS EVEN SURPRISED TO SEE SOME SONGS UNDER HIS NAME.. NOT KNOWING THEY WERE HIS ORIGINALS... (WELL NOW I KNOW)
HE HAS GREAT MUSICAL TASTE.. I LOVE HIS MELODIES.. AND HIS LYRICS ARE MOVING.. I FEEL EVERY SONG HE SINGS.. AND SOMETIMES IT AFFECTS ME TOO MUCH, I FIND MYSELF LOATHING IN A CORNER JUST LISTENING TO HIM.. WELL, I NEED TO CONTROL MYSELF I GUESS.
ANYWAY.. I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO HIM FOR A WEEKS.. ABOUT 4-5 HOURS, AND IF IM LUCKY TO STILL HAVE TIME TO BOOT UP MY COMPUTER, I WATCH ALL HIS PERFORMANCES, AND IM TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY..
I DON'T KNOW THE REST OF THE ROCKERS, I ONLY HAVE READ ABOUT THEIR NAMES.. I'VE HEARD THEM AS WELL WHEN I WATCH THE SHOW, BUT LUKAS IS SO MUCH MEMORABLE..
I AM SUCH A FAN OF ROCK AND ROLL, AND I FOUND IT
IN LUKAS.. I HOPE SN FEELS THAT WAY TOO..
OH YES, AND DAVE, GO GET SOME SLEEP.. YOU NEED THAT.. CARMEN IS HOT BY THE WAY.. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU LET HER GO..
Posted by: carlos at September 8, 2006 01:47 PM
It is just this simple Magni said it himself on ET Canada and i quote " Lukas fits the band perfectly" so all you Lukas haters kiss my Canadian ass. He rocks and to all those Dilana fans you must all love to watch the simpsons cuz she sounds like Marg simpson, she sucks the other two guys they can sing but they just don't belong with SN. Stormy you rocked dilana should have gone home for sure. Show the love for Lukas
Posted by: Michelle at September 8, 2006 01:51 PM
I just read on another board people are saying that maybe the reason u said what u just did about lukas is because now that you are touring with them you are kind of in competition with them and you are going to start talking shit about lukas. I really hope thats not the case and i dont see how touring with someone is a competition. You are all part of the same thing and should want each other to do well. Also didnt u just say recently something along the lines of you wish you had discovered lukas to be the singer of your band? whats up with that?
Posted by: OuTRiGHT at September 8, 2006 01:52 PM
Wow!
I am at a loss. I could listen to Lukas for hours and have been, for weeks. Am I listening to his covers, no. I am listening to his music. Music that he wote and recorded. Music that came from inside of him.
If I want to see a cover artist, I can go to the corner bar for that.
wow....
Posted by: wendy at September 8, 2006 01:53 PM
LUKAS is the only one that changes up each and every performance. How can you get tired of that. You think he is going to rock and he switches it up to something softer...You think he is going to sing something soft and he rocks it out. No other singer left has switched up their performance. One always has a gimick, one is always boring and one is always singing "about me and my hard time". LUKAS can keep you entertained for not only 2 hours, but day after day after day. In fact, I'm playing him right now. But I understand. You might have a different taste in music...that is fine...but the majority of these fans wants our LUKAS!!!
Posted by: Oh Pleeeaasseee at September 8, 2006 01:55 PM
Lukas is a dirty little pile of cat sick. In fact, he sounds like a cat yarking up a fur ball when he sings. He even has the head motion down!!
Posted by: DA at September 8, 2006 01:56 PM
Ryan, Storm and Magni has all said that LUKAS is the man for this gig.
And they were is competition so that says a lot.
ROCK ON LUKAS!!!!
Posted by: info at September 8, 2006 01:57 PM
Actually, the people i couldnt listen to for 2 hours are, magni and dilana, just not, right i guess, but boy lukas i suggest that you listen to him for 2 hours when he's on tour (with supernova or with no supernova) im sure yur mind will have a quick change over.
Da boy has STYLE, talent, everthang.

aye papi! what a sexy ass pic..... I will be tuned in for SRL for sure
Posted by: colleen at September 8, 2006 02:01 PM
Did you know that EMI's creative VP paid Lukas's travel costs to attend the auditions for the show. Record companys do not do that for people who have no talent.
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 02:01 PM
Gilby sucks ass as a guitar player Dave. Make him quit and YOU do it!!! Well..I guess you are busy and all...how about that guy in the house band...Rafael right? That guy is always rippin shit up. That guy should be in Supernova not Gilby.
Posted by: KungFu at September 8, 2006 02:02 PM
I love Magni! He is the best singer of the four left, and it does not hurt that the man is so SEXY! However, I am not certain that Magni necessarily fits in with the Supernova guys, perhaps Dilana or Lukas might be a better choice, but I do hope Magni will be chosen to sing with the Houseband on the tour. I disagree with what you say that Magni isn´t good on stage, but at least that is something that can be practised, but a good voice is harder to come by, don´t you think?
Posted by: Mia at September 8, 2006 02:05 PM
I might be able to stand 2 hours of Dilana as long as she doesn't sing anything she's written.
I might be able to stand 2 hours of Lukas as long as I have a libretto.
I'd like 2 hours of Magni, but it's obvious the band doesn't dig him.
Toby is my man, by default. At least you haven't been bagging on him all season, so it won't seem strange when he wins.
(I'm spending my money on Storm tickets, so I won't be there anyway.)
Posted by: Walt Lear at September 8, 2006 02:06 PM
Dave, this is what people think elsewhere,
"When it now looks like Dave's band is going to go head to head against SN, Dave starts picking at Luke? Bwahahahaha"
Afraid of the competition?
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 02:09 PM
I beg you to send Lukas packing asap. I can't understand a word he whines . . . his original was like nails on a chalkboard . . . 'why? why? why?' . . . I was asking the same thing Lukas!. Toby is the clear choice for Supernova.
Posted by: South Shore at September 8, 2006 02:15 PM
I personally won't be putting too much stock into what Dave said in his blog. One minute he wants Lukas fronting a band of his then he says he's not sure if he can listen to him for 2 hrs? It's just a smoke screen IMHO.
Posted by: HelterSkelter at September 8, 2006 02:15 PM
LUKAS LUKAS LUKAS LUKAS LUKAS you want a good band pick LUKAS LUKAS LUKAS ROSSI from toronto...Do you see this Dave LUKAS
Posted by: Michelle at September 8, 2006 02:16 PM
I understand why Dilana is your favorite now, she will most likely be the most entertaining to watch and let's face it sex sells, if the choose a femail vocalist as opposed to a male one, I think their sales will double. Once again though I wish TPC was touring on their own, with someone opening up for them! That's how it should be!
Posted by: Kat at September 8, 2006 02:17 PM
dave,
I love reading your comments but disagree with your Lukas comment. I have it on tivo and have download everything I can from him and listen all day long. If I can handle 12 or more hours I think you can too, Baby. Much love. Teahouse is awesome
Posted by: lissa at September 8, 2006 02:18 PM
This "edge" of which you speak -- How many rockers in the history of music have actually had this "edge" thing? It's not that many! To expect it from a televised talent search is a little far-fetched. What I want is just some good music! Good music! Good music! What a concept! As much as I love the House Band, they need vocalists to make them sound so good. For the Supernova haters, the guys just need the right vocalist to fit their style to make it work. And if you've paid attention to the show (online more than performance/elimination) then you've heard their style is just floor-the-gas, crank-the-speakers, bang-the-head rock and roll. They're not trying to change the world or cure chronic diseases -- they want to put out some good music! What a concept! If it's not your style, so be it. I happen to dig it. And Toby is the right fit, as much as I like the other singers. Storm would have fit, too, but I'm starting to think she was on the show as a friend of Tommy's and they had to cut her eventually and the roots got too deep in the process. She blew the field away (har!) this week and that was obvious. Lukas is outstanding but not the right fit. Dilana is weak. Storm took the criticism, the "spankings" and the unwarranted pannings, and became STRONGER. Dilana has accepted nothing but PRAISE and made herself into a victim? Doesn't add up. Magni has proven my earlier point with the House Band -- they fit together. It was an unintentional blessing, but if they don't continue a relationship, they're nuts.
Dave, my last point, would Dilana be able to sing a set of Panic Channel songs if Isaacs was ill or something? I think you know the answer to that.
Posted by: justin at September 8, 2006 02:18 PM
I think Lukas has the most amazing voice from the first time i heard him i knew i had to find previous stuff he has done and it is amazing. Lukas has the Edge as well as the voice and i listen to him every day at work as well as others in my office! I could listen to Lukas all day. Dilana on the other hand when she sings i turn the channel she annoys me big time. I think if Lukas doesn't win this gig it will be SN loss not Lukas' because he will be very succssful with or without SN. He puts his heart and all his emotion into each song and it shows this man is extremly talented. I guess they either take it or leave it but i stand by him all the way with or without SN. Lukas is a true rocker and has a great voice.
Posted by: T at September 8, 2006 02:20 PM
Dave,
The only SN song i really got into was that one LUKAS ROSSI belted out (yes i am a lukas "supporter") but he totally fitted that song, AND the band.
Magni- when hes on the tv, i usually just leave the room, he bores me.
Dilana - nice voice, but dont like HER personality and such, dont think she'd fit SN.
Toby - Yeah, kinda boy-bandish, with a tad of wannabee rock, but ya know, he entertains, i guess.
Lukas - theres the missing ingredient!
"SuperLUKASrossiNova"
perfect.
Posted by: Deena at September 8, 2006 02:24 PM
how much do i love supernova??? i know lukas is going to win. how can he not? never in my life have i seen a collection of people i know (and don't know) so completely excited about an artist. especially since he did his original song. i've heard other songs of his and i think he has so much to offer supernova in so many ways. it's hard to judge someone on a two minute performance on a stage in front of a tv audience.... i can't wait to see a full supernova performance with lukas front and centre.
Posted by: barbarella at September 8, 2006 02:24 PM
AFRAID OF SOME COMPETITION DAVE? You know damn well lukas is a much better singer and performer than Steve. Now you are dissing LUkas...CLASSLESS
lukas will be the lead singer of supernova
Posted by: aston at September 8, 2006 02:25 PM
Magni - seems like he could bloom into a Bono-ish type lead singer. I would agree that right now, there isn't much diversity in his stage performance... But, compare his first performance to any of the last several and you'll see that he's evolved quite a bit. I think it's more about him becoming more comfortable with the situation than changing who he is.
Toby - Toby is someone that will bring in the women fans - don't underestimate that factor, we are talking about a Rock N Roll band. I don't want to say that he's fake, but he's definitely changed his look to fit this band. But, I'd say as it stands right now with his current incarnation, I think he fits the band's personality the best. His original song was great and only Storm's was equally impressive.
Dilana - I think she is close to being the right person, but not really quite there when you look at it a bit closer. She's definitely a real rocker, and interesting to watch. But, it becomes a completely different band with a female lead singer. Not saying that's a negative, but I think that the band Tommy and the boys want is more about testosterone.
Lukas - I think he's very talented, but I don't think you get much diversity from him. Plus, his stage persona doesn't match the rest of the band.
I'd say Toby probably has the inside lane right now. And that's not saying he's the most talented by any means, but he seemst to be the best fit for the band's personality.
Posted by: Scott at September 8, 2006 02:25 PM
Dave you rock! I love this season of RS SN. Not many women rocking the front these days, like Pat Benetar, so if the guys want one Dilana is edgy. I am from Houston and have seen her, she is good. My vote goes to Tobey. He is talented and someone to watch for a two hour show. He spices it up and he can learn to be edgy/dark/easy on the eyes too!
Dave great that you are doing charity work. Keep it up.

I love all of the performes that are left. Dilana, Magni, Lukas and Toby are the best of the best. They are all great in their own right, however, I believe that Lukas is the best fit for SN. Lukas, like anyone, has his bad days, but I just don't understand how some people fail to see his talent. He may not fit everyone's personal taste, but to bash him is another story. This does not only apply to Lukas. All of the performers deserve respect. They are where they are today because they have amazing gifts, not because as many have put it, they "suck." Dilana does not suck, Toby does not suck, Magni does not suck, and Lukas does not suck. I appreciate their talent and would give my right arm to be able to sing like any one of them.
Posted by: D at September 8, 2006 02:27 PM
Lukas singing Coldplay is what made me stop the tv as I was flicking through the channels...and thus hooked me on RS:SN.... I've listened to nothing but Lukas for the past few weeks...he has made me excited about music again.
dilana is a hack..she's a fucking pop singer (I'm sure you've seen the youtube videos)...you can't just decide to dress the part and suddenly become 'rock and roll' ... she doesn't know anything about good ol' rock and roll music.
Whatever the outcome, I am very greatful to you for creating this show and allowing me to find Lukas' music.
And whoever that was who made a post comprised of Lukas song titles...BRILLIANT!

hey dave...if you get storm, how about playing ladylike on SRL then? on storm's temp board there has been talk about asking you to play it..i actually quite enjoy it. i even changed my myspace song to it, that is how much i like it. i cannot wait for her cd to be released. thanks for the consideration!
i am glad that you guys rocked it! i hope a bootleg of the show becomes available. if anyone has one out there, my link works. email me, please? thanks!

I'm curious to see who Supernova picks as their front man(woman). I love love love Toby, but I'm just not sure about him and the group... I'm actually not sold on any of them as the "one"... I think they missed their best option but it's not me picking who fronts their band now is it?
I'd love to hear Storm on your show tonight, I really enjoyed Ryan on the show last week.
Awesome picture of you... although I've yet to see a bad picture of you to this day.
Have a good one Dave XOXOXOXO

its very simple. if SN does not pick lukas then they are COMPLETE IDIOTS and will not be worth watching anyway and i will immediately return my tickets that i already purchased for when they come to NYC. Not picking lukas will tell u all u need to know about these guys and they can all take a walk and we can just follow our man wherever he goes because he will be damn successful with or without them.

Bisou Dave:
People can go to Youtube and hear Lukas when he was with Rise Electric and Cleavage. His voice is beautiful and sounds completely different from the Rock Star voice. He has the most incredible falsetto and his range is huge. Coupled with the "Look" I think it can only be Lukas. Just imagine all the marketing possibilities (as a former marketing exec now retired, I drool at the possibilities with Lukas): guyliner for eyes, lip glass (sic) (beer, wine, brandy flavored), cologne, hair products, shoes, clothing lines: Lukas has already made TUK shoes the rage and the Marc Vachon stuff will be selling out now, as well. Someone mentioned a Lukas pez dispenser evidently given out at one of the shows and instantly people went nuts trying to find out how to get one.
Toby is a nice guy but too repetitive and "boy bandesque).
Magni is nice too but totally boring without style.
Dilana is insane (in a bad way)
Stormy was not right for SN but she does rock and I am hoping someone will have the idea for her to host the Rock Star show next year instead of Brooke (who may not want to work due to new baby).
Storm is perfect for rocker talk shows.
Dilana is my nominee for the next Surreal Life.
MTV could present a new reality show called FemSurvivor with Dilana, Janice Dickenson and Omerosa having to live in the same house. OUCH! Who will survive and hide the sharp objects please.
Booya!

All the rockers are good. They all have something special about them. However there is one that stands out. One that makes you want to do nothing but watch them (no matter if you like their sound or not). I don't have to state the name...you have already figured it out....but what the hell....LUKAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

To roadDog,
It obviously shows that you could only have ten great years and no more than that. Your ability to look further than your own mirror shows.
From an educated individual to one who obviously lacks any..get a life.
As I said, to show emotions does not mean you are incapable of holding your own. To the contrary it shows you can actually move further on in your life because you have come to recognize your own abilites and possibly your own limitations.
As I said, and I will repeat this for you because you seem a little slow, get a life. Your fifteen minutes of fame is over!

I'm a thirty something woman and I got to say this. I don't watch reality shows. Never have. I just don't want to spend the time or effort into it. My husband wanted to watch RStar because TLee was going to be on it. So I said okay and we watched the first show. Every since then I have gone crazy. My husband doesn't know how much time I spend on these websites and it is sad to think of the hours. I have never had this feeling for a singer before. I have heard of people getting this way due to the beattles or Elvis...but in this day and age, never thought it would happen to me. Guess what I has. And I have it bad for LUKAS. Not in a oh you are so sexy kind of way (even though he is) But in damn "he is good" kinda way. My man, which we usually don't agree on the same music, thinks the same about LUKAS. Whether you are a young, middle or old - male or female....you can't help but to love him.

Hey Dave:
Absolutely love you as host on RSSN and adore your music...but wtf are you talking about when you say you couldn't listen to LUKAS for 2 hours. Man oh man all I do is replay ALL of his performances night after night and have them in my head all day. He is has it all ...and all ages love him.
If SN has any chance to survive a year touring it will only be with Lukas and no one else.
Just my humble opinion.
Cheers,

Thank you so much for Rockstar Supernova!!! It has totally given me something to do this summer aside from getting into extraoridinarily silly situations with drugs, alcohol, etc....
All of my friends know that I love this show, its humanity, and unbelievable entertainment value.
It seems that it is really actually very difficult for Tommy to axe people and that is so endearing, and I think you moderate things incredibly well with Brooke.
I think Gilby has proven to be a much needed critic and anyone with half a brain knows the hell that Jason had to endure for years of "Your not Cliff".
Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, Brooke, Gilby, Tommy, and Jason for sharing this process with the world.
It's really healing and very sobering in the most rockin' kind of way.
Much love and thank you,
Alana

I forgot something...If that happens with Storm on SNL and you read this before then or whenever - Dave, seriously you GOTTA check her out in You Tube...specifically, "I Want you to Die". Seriously, please, please, please check it out. You'll definately be entertained. And "Penetration" is great too. You know, now that I think about the emotional good-bye to her on the last show, I realize it wasn't a bad, sad thing at all. Not to come across bitchy or anti Supernova, but she's got SO much talent - she's better off on her own, with her and her Balls! Gotta love a woman with balls, even if they strap on. Ohhhhh yeeaaah.

BTW.. Retiring was my choice. I loved my time in music, AND at this point in life, I'm far happier as a tax attorney. Here's some simple math for you: 10 years is a whole lot more than 15 minutes. Let's not get started on comparing IQ's.
The music biz is not easy, particularly for women. It takes a lot of BALLS (aka Stormy) to play hard ball with the big boys. Thems the facts. No one said you have to like them, or me.

I am a teacher in my mid 20s and an avid Lukas Rossi fan. I certainly do not fit into the teenager category. By saying that Lukas is the "worst" singer you have ever heard and that his fans consist of teenagers, you have managed to insult that entire age group. It is an insinuation that they do not know talent when they hear it.

Hey Road Dog,
I am seeing the hostility, but I still do not see the ducation or IQ. I undestand that a female has had to pickup the slack for you a few times. I did not realize this would hit home for you. See how emotions play a big part in a persons life. Your emotions are spread all over your blog.

I hear what you all are saying about Lukas, he's definitely talented.
But think about this band.
Tommy Lee is the big name in this band.
Gilby who ? Jason who ? Nothing against them, they are very talented, but not by any means close to being a Tommy Lee. We know about the man, his horse schlong, and his famous ex that every straight male has lusted after, and probably even some gay males. Tommy Lee is about fun and living wild.
Lukas's onstage persona might be a little too heavy for this band. Toby seems to have the fun side, and his performances pretty much reflect that.
Tommy & Toby
Tommy & Lukas

*cries in frustration at what you just said*
Bwaaah!See Dave now isn't it worth reading through all this crap to get an occasional gem like this!LMFAO!

Hey Dave, will totally be tuning into your show tonight, I do hope that Storm will get ahold of you.
If she does, will you please let her know that her fans are with her 100 percent... and wherever she goes we'll follow her. PORTLAND HAS TO SHARE WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD NOW <3
you & her performing was one of the most memorable performances from that show aside from her amazing rendition of Wish You Were Here... I almost have no reason to watch anymore :(

Dude (or dudette), has it ever occured to you that you look like an ass making personal attacks at people for no reason? Also, it's pretty obvious to me from her first post that RoadDog is a girl and maybe had to go through the music business the hard way and might know a thing or two about it. Chill and open your eyes before you go freaking out.
Sorry to take up your space with the horse shit Dave...love you lots. :-)

Sorry but this doesn't make since. You want a band comprised of stand out performers. Why in the hell would you want one main person and the rest to fade in the background. For one thing Gilby and Jason are good and have proven themselves. But helloooo..why wouldn't you want Lukas - makes the band complete - as all would be amazing and strong - not weak points

Why don't you get a grip. The conversation was not between you and I. Road dog used me as a personal preference to show his or emotions. Before you open your mouth and insert your foot, read how it began.

I am officially a Lukas fan-atic. I have no idea what has happened to me but I love it. Something has been re-awakened, a remembrance of my youth perhaps (I'm 43), the days when I went everywhere with my walkman on listening to songs that made me feel real emotion. I had not had that feeling for years until Lukas.
I have bought very few new cd's over the last number of years because there just wasn't anything that really grabbed me. Now I've taken over my daughter's walkman and listen to Lukas's music at home, at work, in the car, at the grocery store, everywhere. I have taken over the family computer and I spend my nights on the internet reading posts about Lukas and Rockstar. I have downloaded all his performances and watch them over and over.
I know I am not alone in my obsession, hell there are over 29,000 posts on Rockband for Lukas alone, Dilana has 1086, Magni has 512, Toby has 3256. He feeds something people need and if Supernova have half a brain between them they will see that their meal ticket lies with Lukas Rossi.
People have started to compare him to Johnny Depp in terms of his magnetism and looks. He sings with passion and style, he's rivetting to watch and I have to compliment the camera crew at Rockstar for they've made the most breathtaking videos of him.
I will buy anything he puts out with or without Supernova. He is amazing!

Hey Dave - for the past two seasons of Rockstar I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to your thoughtful comments. I didn't know much about you before that. I love TPC. I am now a Fan!
I really like all the rockers and will follow several of their careers. I'm really glad you and the guys think so highly of Storm. That girl has a rock and roll heart!
My favorite all along has been Dilana. I wasn't put off by the drama because I realize it's all about editing and ratings. To me, Dilana seems to be an honest and forthcoming person. When asked her opinion, she gave it, and ended up in the middle of a shitstorm. It's hard to be HATED.These guys have been isolated from their families and support networks for quite a while now.Whether people love her or hate her, they've been tuning in. All this lady wants to do is Rock and Roll.
It doesn't matter to me if she gets this job or not. I will love Dilana and buy her music no matter who she sings with. And so will a great many other people.
Supernova fans ultimately want the guys to pick whoever chimes the best with THEM. At this point, they can't lose.
Thanks for the great energy you bring to the world Dave. Rock on!

Hey Dave,
It sucks that the show is almost over. I'm gonna miss watching you on tv 2 nights a week!
I was just checking out the tour dates for Supernova and noticed ya'll aren't coming to the south. What's up with that? Ya'll have got to come to New Orleans! Even if Supernova doesn't... The Panic Channel should!
Have a great weekend,
Tomorrow

Dilana is the rockstar in this household. I don't know of a single person in my life that could listen to Lukas for two hours. With Dilana she can change her voice in so many ways and her love and stagecraft comes across through the TV. Just imagine what that would be like live!!
Posted by: Bobbie at September 8, 2006 03:13 PM
Who is best for SN???
If the band wants to stand out i'd choose Lukas, I think that he is a great performer (never a dull moment) great song writter, charismatic, lots of soul. He is addictive. His voice definately stands out.
Magni, would be a duplicate of Nickelback type of band. It would be just another rock band.
Toby, be stealing all the girls away from Tommy, then again, I think i'd get pretty bored with the same old jumping up and down (he can't dance)and the walking throught the crown deal, someone may snatch him away and that be the end of SN, then you be back to square 1. He also doesn't have different range to his voice, i'd love to hear him sing creep.
Dilana, great entertainer on stage, but she sounds the same from one song to the next and has no creativity, she be attracting the old crowd.
Wishing all the best to SN and the rockers

Tommy and Lukas !
Posted by: KeithMoonLives at September 8, 2006 03:15 PM
Wendy ... as a fellow photographer - great work ... lighting and tone is awesome ... and you "captured" Dave, in a most captivating way.
This year on RSSN is kind of perplexing to me. I thought Dilana had this wrapped up with Lukas nipping at her heels, but this has been like watching a train wreck. I have gone from loving her - to wanting to go walk my dog when she starts singing. Dilana can destroy a song and it's like the SN guys have drank the KoolAid and give her a tongue bath. Talk about someone who doesn't change it up or bring anything new. She needed to go this week (ok, I'm bitter).
Toby is being pimped - but he's just too pretty to front a band that has Tommy on drums.
Which leaves Lukas and Magni. Lukas has grown on me as the season has worn on and Magni's original this week rocked. I'm good with either one of them winning ... although, no one feels quite roit.
Dave - you amaze me! Come to Austin and play. You are so real and you are a great communicator and in being so, you open up to people a lot of music that may have never been heard. So, thank you. I, for one, appreciate that.
And keep up the charity gigs - you can not imagine how much that means to an organization (I've been doing non-profit stuff for many years ...) ... you not only make a difference in monies raised, but you raise public awareness - and people in need are helped by that.
Keep on staying true, Dave. You are awesome.

Dave and friends
after the shitty day I had, Dave, friends you made me laugh, thanks for the gift. My new job has me out and out of the house at 6am, not too bad if I was not used to sleeping in till 8-9 ..lol. Anyway I will try to stay awake to catch SRL because I really some uplifting and I know you can do it.
glad things went well last night- wondering if you have anything to say about Paris Hilton getting pulled over for DUI after leaving the event...lol its such a joke as to what makes the news these days - oh well I guess the truth and reporting on something that matters is too risky for network news...lol.
Saw the tour dates, and I am so sad that once again eastern Canada is excluded. I was really hoping that SN would make it a little further east than Montreal, oh well I hope to some day see you perform live.
later dude stay cool

Love RSSN. Not much of a reality show person but have watched both seasons and love it. I too am from Houston and have seen Dilana, she is true rock and roll, puts on a good show. I think it will be the right person to fit with Tommy Lee. Toby won the car, so, who's to say who they will pick. Hope it is him. He or Dilana. Looking forward to next season and Dave you are awesome.

"Dilana, great entertainer on stage, but she sounds the same from one song to the next and has no creativity, she be attracting the old crowd."
The Baby Boomers are the ones with the money and SN fits right into that demographic.

Oh, Dave, when are you coming to Houston? Come and shake things up here in Texas!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Sammie at September 8, 2006 03:21 PM
I didn't say that they weren't outstanding performers, they are all great. The point I made was about the personality of the band.
Would Guns N Roses be Guns N Roses without Axel or Slash ?
Would Motley Crue be Motley Crue without Vince and Tommy ?
Would U2 be U2 without Bono and Edge ?
Would The Red Hot Chili Peppers be The Red Hot Chili Peppers without Anthony and Flea ?
Beatles. John and Paul ?
There's no negativity here. Gilby and Jason are great musicians. But there are certain musicians that for whatever reason have more personality and have the ability to captivate on a much higher scale.
But the main point is who fits the personality of THIS BAND. It's not a question of who is the better singer. They are all great in my opinion. They all can front a band. Who's the right one for Super Nova, that's the question. If that doesn't make sense to you, then I don't think you get the whole concept of the show.

Fuck Lukas dworf-no voice-fake-no fun- freak!
He's like a hobbit....but I'll hand it to him, I like him more than Dilana, which sounds like Marge Simpson....Oh and sorry, she's the dworf...But dworfs are okey I guess...If they have a nice voice....L and D DO NOT!!!
And Headspin....an okay song actually....With another singer!!!
I'll say....Toby-Toby-Toby!!!! For this band.
But Magni is my fav..

What the?
I'm shaking my head at all of the trash-talk going on here. From rumours being said - to disagreeing with Dave's opinions.
Can't we all just get along?
We all need to have different opnions or this world would be way too boring - hence the reason why I spend so much time reading the comments, when they're so entertaining.
I just think it's crazy to trash Dave's opinion(s) like I've been reading. Lets just relax, get nek-ed and jump in his pool.

Posted by: OuTRiGHT at September 8, 2006 03:30 PM
There is only one performer who is constantly changing his voice and his appearance. that is LUKAS. He has never once had the same look and most of the time he switches up his music. NO other singer does that. Go LUKAS!!! if he does lose this for some stupid reason I know in my heart that it will be okay. He will be huge no matter what. It is just up to SN if they want him to be huge with them or on his own.
Posted by: beth at September 8, 2006 03:35 PM
its dwarf for those who cant spell, and Lucas sings like a hobit. Its all show, no go. He doesnt have the voice range. Toby copied a Hip Song, called Gift Shop. Magni is going to win, Dilana self destructed. Magni was the only one not in the bottom 3, Lucas was, Dilana and Storm.
Magni will be the singer
Posted by: John Buffam at September 8, 2006 03:35 PM
I don't think anyone is trying to trash Dave's oppinion (well almost anyone) ..hell we love the guy. But we want him to understand...yes he might think one way...but the majority might think another way. We are letting the fans be heard.

Gilby Nickname Contest, I submit the following for your consideration:
Guy (pronounced "ghee") LeFleur
Why you ask me? Because Gilby's long hair and facial decoration remind me of "third Templar from the left" in an Errol Flynn movie.
Um, on second thought, forget it. :)

Dave,
Why bash Lukas???????????
He is the true performer of this competition and the next future superstar!!
I have downloaded all his songs and they do not wear on me in fact the more that I hear them the more that I want to hear.
Don't diss this guy because one day you will be begging to play with him. And don't forget the advice to Dilana "What you say will always come back to bite you"
You have made me a fan of yours but Lukas has become one of my favs.

Hey Dave. :-) That’s a beautiful picture. You look so “shiny and happy in it. So lovely to see. :-) Glad “The Dragonfly benefit was a huge success. :-) Hope you have a wonderful day off. Switching gears… Tabloid press: Agh… ‘Vulture press’ as I call them. I avoid that junk like the plague—can’t stand it. I’ll probably have to catch most of this SRL later when you put it into rotation. (Give Stormy our best if she shows and Raiana, too. KHZ rocks.) I promised a friend I’d help her save the universe from the forces of evil ;-) in the online game “Guild Wars that I play, tonight. LOL My gaming buddies are already suspicious that I’ve been ‘kidnapped’ (bird napped? ^^) lately by my “RS:SN pals. Therefore, this is a diplomatic concession to maintain peace and harmony in my world. LOL So many friends, so much fun to have and only so many hours in the day—balancing act. ;-) No kidding you have a ‘vested interest’ now, dude… I’ll preface this by saying that I’d *swim* to Vancouver, if I had to, for a chance to see TPC perform. LOL However… If you’re going to pry me off my paradisiacal island (where I’m so comfortably perched ;-) ) to see y’all, I need a healthy dose of Lukas’s music as SN’s frontman. It’s a good thing I meditated this morning, because reading your “bait Lukas comment had me thinking of the Richard Dreyfuss lines from an old movie: “I am in a complete state of tranquil bliss. So don’t *bug* me. LOL Since I’m centered and balanced ;-), I can just breathe, smile and appreciate your right to say and think whatever you please. Like many other folks, I watch Lukas’s performances and listen to his original music at every possible opportunity—much more than two hours at a time. I could watch him perform and hear him sing, quite happily, for the rest of my days and only cry a little when he had to take a break or sleep. LOL But I’ll settle for YouTube, concert tours and CDs if I must. ;-) Toby does have a good voice, I agree. Dilana stuff… *Om… not saying anything… going to my ‘happy place’* ;-) Magni, wonderful voice but milk toast onstage most of the time. *shrugs* Still, he’s a sweetheart and Toby is a fun guy. :-) I would completely look forward to seeing those two open for SN and Lukas.

To think Dilana even comes close to comparing to Lukas is laughable and in fact of the four remaining she is the least talented.
Lukas is amazing and has made this show enjoyable every week.
Posted by: slowerthansnails at September 8, 2006 03:43 PM
I think your summary of the final four is probably the closest I've heard to what I think as well. I've enjoyed all the performances this season, but no one has really jumped out at me as my personal favourite over everyone else (which JD was for me last year so I was quite happy with that outcome).
Posted by: Michelle at September 8, 2006 03:45 PM
I think Dave's opinions are pretty much spot on. But he didn't really give an opinion on which person he felt most fit the personality of the band, and it would seem that's what it's really down to now.
I think it's possible that any of these singers could just bring the house down with their performance and still not win the contest. It's not Dave's choice, it's Super Nova's.
Depending on who gets chosen out of these 4, this band will be a vastly different beast. Super Nova will take on to a large extent the persona of that front person, like it or not. So choosing one that meshes with what they are trying to accomplish is probably the largest factor now.
You could tell that Tommy had a hard time letting Storm go, cause she is closer to his persona than to Gilby or Jason's. He even gave the job to Jason, I think that says something. no ?
Posted by: Scott at September 8, 2006 03:49 PM
Dilana - brings the same thing every performance poor voice and freaky stage show - uncomfortable and boring
Magni - Afraid to actual move with the music but good voice - boring
Toby - Loads of potential but looks awkward with Supernova - somewhat entertaining
Lukas - changes it up every week and is the only one who isn't singing like a karaoke champ. Rearranges the covers to make them sound great and was awesome with Supernova, all eyes were on him and not the band - Extremely entertaining and fits Supernova like a glove

Posted by: Cherrycoke at September 8, 2006 03:52 PM
Hi Dave,
I have to say, I am not the type of person that seeks out celebrities on the internet, nor do I normally have these types of reactions to TV shows, but I am so hooked on Supernova. I have found myself on your sight as well as the rockstar sight which is very unusual for me! I am a 26 year old girl from the OC and I just have to tell you that the show is awesome, your perspective is awesome, and I can't wait to see the finale. As a 16 year old, I had a picture on my wall of you dripping with watermellon...looking forward to hearing your new band:) I can seriously picture the same type of poster with Supernova and Lukas on millions of teenage girls walls accross the world. Thank you for giving me something to watch during the off season of TV!
Posted by: Never does these things at September 8, 2006 03:55 PM
The fact that dave does not see right through dilana really really bothers me. How is that possible?
Posted by: OuTRiGHT at September 8, 2006 03:57 PM
I just have to say this: I am so bored reading people whining about Magni's stage presence.
In the last 3 years, I have among other bands seen the Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Depeche mode, Iron Maiden, Alice in chains (new singer), Dream Theater, U2 and Placebo in concert. None of the singers bounced around the stage like a maniac the whole show. Or for a whole song for that matter. There is nothing wrong with Magni's performances and I would take them over fake, over-the-top ones some of the other rockers have given any day.
That being said, Magni isn't even my favorite, Lucas is! This just really annoys me.
Posted by: Christina at September 8, 2006 03:59 PM
Any of you who are saying that Jason is not a captivating or edgy performer have obviously not seen him live...I don't think I've ever seen someone, especially someone without a "lead" role in the band, who is so frickin' entertaining onstage. The man is a maniac! He was always the one in Metallica to really get the crowd going and participating, especially when he would do those insane growl-huffing-screaming things into the microphone. I know he can't headbang quite so much anymore because of all the neck damage he sustained (being an onstage maniac), but I don't think that's slowed him down a whole lot!

Hi Dave,
I have become a huge fan of your radio show over the last few weeks - honest dialogue and non-commercial.
So glad I bought tickets early as the venue in my area is now sold out! Supernova & The Panic Channel - can't wait for February to arrive.
In response to today's comments, Lukas has me completely captivated. Two hours is not nearly enough for me...
Posted by: Laurie at September 8, 2006 04:01 PM
Well, I disagree with some of these, to me it is Lucas that sounds the same every week. I still like Dilana, she's a woman and we are stronger than you boys and you know it! Loved you on guitar the other night Dave! What the hell do you know about the rumors of the website that is already showing the 'winner'! Saw it Wednesday! What's up with that???? If I can't be on to listen tell Storm we miss her and hated to see her go! What if the public and Supernova don't like the same people???? Wouldn't that be a tragic event in itself???
Love ya Dave :)
Posted by: Cherie at September 8, 2006 04:02 PM
Magni is the best singer and that is enough! Toby is ok, Dilana and Lukas are not my cop of tea. Have a great time next Sunday and hopefully you and the other guys choose the right man "MAGNI" to play with SN og the HB (which I would prefer). Ciao
Posted by: SB at September 8, 2006 04:03 PM
Wow Dave, I know, I know, you have your opinion and I have mine, but I can't believe that you think Dilana has a better voice than Lukas. He totally had me hooked from week 1, so much so that I had to go check out any music he had done, I was blown away. Lukas has real drawing power and a huge fan base that the other rockers just can't rival.
Posted by: Trust Me at September 8, 2006 04:03 PM
I think The Panic Channel ROCKS! I love all the songs I have heard so far, and am looking forward to hearing the whole album. Why Cry, touched me in ways you can't imagine, and I thank you for that! Keep on rocking!
Posted by: Casandra at September 8, 2006 04:04 PM
Wow, I can't believe you might have trouble listening to Lukas for 2 hours. I could and do actually. I find myself listening to the Rise Electric and Cleavage stuff I downloaded over and over in the house, while I drive etc. It makes me wonder if you or those on the couch can or do listen to the rockers' previous work. Maybe Lukas sounds different live than on tv. I am so moved by his work. The lyrics, his voice, and the way his songs have a strong narrative. I'm wondering if women may tend to go for this type of thing more than men. I think I'd get bored silly watching any of the other three more than just a song or two, because I want to be moved emotionally and to my core. That is a personal experience and I think some people don't experience rock that way or don't get off on that. Lukas is better when he opens his throat. I still think he has it hands down.
Posted by: Marilyn at September 8, 2006 04:10 PM
Hi Dave,
Want you to know we really enjoy your posts. You are one of the most intelligent and articulate guys we have found in Rock (as are the SN guys, so you are all great to watch) and we appreciate your views and opinions. We also agree with your assessment of the final four. DILANA has been our favorite from day one, she is the whole package, talent and a gifted performer who can captivate and hold an audience and can change things up enough to keep things moving. It is great that you will be on the tour with SN, looking forward to seeing you all!
Posted by: DKJD at September 8, 2006 04:11 PM
OK DAVE, YOU CAN TAKE THAT BACK NOW!
It worked, you worked us up, we responded. We love him. Take the news back to Supernova. We approve the choice. Tommy must be really happy, can't wait to see Lukas's face.
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 04:13 PM
If Supernova actually thinks they could get people to pay for their overpriced tickets they better pick Lukas for the gig. He's the only one I'd pay that kind of money for.
I've got all his Cleavage and Rise Electric songs on my ipod and I play it constantly. I could easily listen to the guy for MORE than two hours, as I currently do at work everyday!
He's the only singer left in this competition that won't make Supernova look like a joke. Storm was the only other singer who could have as well, but they decided to let her go before the biggest joke of the entire show - Dilanadramadingdong.
Lukas has made me a believer and a lifelong fan. I will follow his career now, with or without Supernova. Will I follow Supernova's career? Well, with the crap songs they have shown us - not likely, and ONLY if they do the smart thing and pick Lukas. He'll rework those tired songs and give them his touch and it'll be all good.

Hi Dave,
My 2 cents. I read so many positive comments about Lucas on here. Sounds like he has a lot of fans. That is very cool. He seems to be very talented at what he does. I totally understand his fans wanting to see him in concert. But fronting SN? Doesn't seem to fit. People really need to focus on who will fit best with SN and not just who is your personal favorite. When I saw Lucas perform with SN, and actually, anytime on the show, he seems so uncomfortable. This is so not his style. I don't think he will be happy with SN.
Dilana- Hmm. I enjoyed her first few performances and then it just got so old so fast. I lost all interest in her even before the drama. I can just imagine all the SN guys trying to avoid her on the tour bus because shes in one of her moods. Tommy looks shell shocked half time time on the show now- can you imagine him walking on eggshells around her. Oofda- Just say no.
Toby- Sweet, young and cute. Can any of these words be used to describe any of the SN guys? Is that what they want fronting them? Some one who will make it glaringly obvious to all concert goers that they are not exactly at the same stage in their lives. (I think this applies to Lucas too, age wise)Do they want to look haggard behind this energetic, pop singer?
Magni- Yeah, I will admit that sometimes I feel a little bored watching him. But sometimes he blows my mind. And his voice is always good- spot on. My guess is that he will explode in a actual concert. His look and style are a perfect fit with SN. And the fact that he is a more grounded family man makes more sense in the over all fit.
Just my opinion.

Dave,
Lukas has the soul of an artist, he is gifted, creative and original. Myself along with many others can easily see his greatness. He touches us when he reaches out....in a deep and moving way.
Ive been listening to his music for a few weeks now thanks to Supernova, downloaded all his stuff and his original work is great. Play it all day at work.
For me, there is no question. Lukas is without a doubt the most gifted rock artist on Supernova.
Posted by: crista at September 8, 2006 04:18 PM
I can understand alot of the Dilana hating based on her throwing almost everyone of her peers under the bus, but anyone who thinks that she isn't talented is nuts.
She's shown alot of diversity.
Go back an look at some of the songs she's done :
Lithium - Nirvana
Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash
Time after Time by Cyndi Lauper
The Who - Won't Get Fooled again.
Cats in the Cradle
Police - Every Breath You Take
I think the proof is in the pudding, and the recipe seems to be diversity pudding.
I don't think she's gonna win, but Dilana haters are hating the player right now.

I'm listening to Living on a Prayer as I read and write here. The crowd noise is incredible in the background, not usual during a balled type song. Whenever Lukas changes his voice they erupt. They love Lukas.
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 04:20 PM
Dave,
I just wanted to stop in and say most of what you said i would have to agree with except that you are not sure if you could listen to LUKAS for 2 hours. I listen to Luke all day at work on my computer and i love it. If the band really wants someone with talent he can sing, perform, write a song, and at the end still leaves his fans wanting more he has a mystery about him we all want more details and he only gives us enough to keep wondering. This guy he is pure talent and you never know what he is going to do next. LUKAS is the one SN needs.
GO LUKAS GO BRING IT HOME BABY
Posted by: T at September 8, 2006 04:20 PM
Unfortunately I don't think I could listen to any of them for a two hour set. But, I do like Tobey and think he has the most charisma and showmanship. BTW - Can someone please explain to me why I can't seem to vote after the show. I am Pac Standard Time.
Posted by: Dalilamo at September 8, 2006 04:24 PM
OK DAVE, YOU CAN TAKE THAT BACK NOW!
It worked, you worked us up, we responded. We love him. Take the news back to Supernova. We approve the choice. Tommy must be really happy, can't wait to see Lukas's face.
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 04:13 PM
I completely agree with Angeleyes.

Reality Check!!!!!!!!!!
This is a Mark Burnett production and its sole purpose is to make money. If you think that Burnett does not have a hand in the outcome think again. He is the driving force of who will be selected and unfortunately to many people are buying into it.
Points to Consider
Supernova is a band totally backed and financed by Burnett productions and CBS.
The idea was presented to Tommy Lee by Burnett and Tommy bought into it and then went out and recruited Clarke and Newsted.
Ticket prices are set outrageously high because this is a one tour band (only to fill obligations and pockets)
Houseband and Panic channel are added to tour in order to combat slow ticket sales.
Conservative numbers for tour:
tickets, $120 x approx. 10,000 fans per concert x 30 dates = $36 million dollars from ticket sales
Merchandising presents another cash cow for Burnett.
Huge payday for Burnett from major sponsorships: Verizon, Honda, MSN etc, etc.
There is no intention that this band is looking for longevity. It was put together by Burnett as a business venture and obligations to Burnett are finished after the first tour. He wants the person who could fill the seats not the right person for the band. Dilana is a one trick performer who will be able to fill the seats but would not have the ability to sustain prominence and viability of the band.
So the reality is. Supernova will pick Dilana because it is just a temporary band put together to make the rich rich and to snatch the hard earned money from the fans who have spent their summer watching this competition.
Dave this smacks loudly of the corporate stink that you so call revile. Love your work Dave but you have become one of the Burnett corporate puppets!

Hey Dave, decided to give my two cents:
Magni: sweet guy, but never really changes it up, all his performances are kind of blurring together.
Toby: sweet guy, good looking but again, most of his performances all blend together. He killed on Rebel Yell (Lukas who???) and his original was fun, but, not the full meal deal.
Lukas: can't understand 90% of his lyrics and his 'Mini-Me' Joe Cocker/Jaegger spaz movements are annoying. If you have been reading any of the rockers blogs, you will also see a disturbing trend in what the Lukas fans write in them [most appear to be miscreants) as they trash the other rockers far, far worse than anything Dilana ever said.
DILANA: brings energy and emotion to every song. Totally able to change it up and keep the audience engaged. Will attract a wide fan ba$e of people you wouldn't be afraid to ride an elevator with....
Take care, we really enjoy watching you: talent, charm and brains!
Posted by: Debb at September 8, 2006 04:37 PM
Dave, how could you say that you wish you could start a band with lukas and now, your new post- WTF? LUKAS is the best of the all rockers and he is even better than most of the so called singers that are reaping millions already these days. Dilana is weak, sounds like a country singer, Toby is a surfer dude, oh oh oh, hey hey hey - WTF, too rah rah as Storm said, no soul. Magni does not have it and doesn't gel well with the band. Supernova should be lucky to have found a supertalented singer/writer that fits their band and that is LUKAS. If they do not choose Lukas, then good luck to them. I bought 4 tickets to see their concert with Lukas as the lead singer. If they choose Toby or Dilana, then I will be giving away my tickets as I don't think anybody will be buying them off from me. By the way, your singer in your new band sucks. Lukas is by far better than him too.

Dear Sweet Dave....
you make my head spin sweetie. I love Toby, but he has boy band written all over him. Dilana--ahh, if they pick Dilana...ok, I can't even say it cuz it's not good. Magni is awesome, but not for SN
I would pay to see Lukas, and I have been listening to him for over 2 hours today.
It is SN's choice, so EVS

Dave, I have Direct TV and they were announcing on one of the channels that TPC would be on CDUSA. It sounded like tomorrow evening 6pm EST 3pm PST but I am not sure.
As soon as I heard TPC my ears perked up!
Enjoy your day off. Have fun.
I love the one picture of you in black and white performing at the Dragonfly on the TPC website. Very mysterious and very cool!

Is it me, or is this year starting to shape up a LOT like last year? Let's see, there has been an obvious favorite since the beginning (what a coincidence, both Canadians). The House Band has way outshined the band searching for a lead singer. There's a token female in the final four. Anyway, there are many more similarities, but I'm not a long poster, so here's my take on the way it's gonna go down: Dilana will go first (just like Suzie did last year), Magni will be second runner up (just like MiG), Toby will be runner up (cue Marty), and the choice front man for SN will be Lukas. Which means no CD purchase or concert for this rock fan, just like last year. But, that's okay, becaus I loved the show and I've found a new SUPER STAR to follow - SUPER STORM. And, for that, I'm forever greatful!!!

Hey Dave, on the Lukas rocker blog page, his fanatics are telling each other to write to you and let you know how much they love him. I just got home from work and can't believe that these people have nothing better to do all day than write trash about the other rockers. Hmmm, when you read their whacked-out, often illiterate, comments, most appear stoned, unemployed and home alone all day. Must be a great life, but it won't generate a lot of $ales down the road for SN.
I agree with your comments, keep the faith and thanks for all you do to keep the show entertaining!
Posted by: Dilana Fan at September 8, 2006 04:47 PM
Wow Dave ~ Dilana doesn't need a blog of her own to feel the heat. All you have to do is mention her on your's. I think she's the best!
Posted by: rof at September 8, 2006 04:51 PM
Can't wait till the finale. Yes Dilana has the edge thing down.. but honestly is it a good edge? Lukas varies his performance from week to week! Listening to him for two hours would be easy.. plus he can help out with the writing of the songs. I'm sure Supernova will make the right choice..
Posted by: Traci at September 8, 2006 04:51 PM
aw dave you look so fucking happy in that picture. it's great.
Posted by: alison at September 8, 2006 04:54 PM
smartest thing they could have done was have you
open for them. now they for sure have all your fans buying tickets. so really it doesn't matter anymore who they pick. TPC the house band and I assume the other four contestants. keeps everyone happy. won't help with album sales.
warms my heat to see all the charity work ya do dude.
Peace

I would amend that to say he is one of the most gifted rock artists in the world today.

Another supporter for Lukas here. A talent like his doesn't come along very often. And just about everybody in the biz knows it. YOU know it. I realize you're trying to make it seem like a level playing field here for ratings, but seriously, if SN doesn't snatch this guy up, well then they seriously all need to go into some kind of treatment center to get their heads screwed back on. :-)

I agree with yeahyeah, smart move to have the Panic Channel open to boost ticket sales, but what are they going to do with all those empty seats when people leave after the opening act and go home to listen to Lukas! (unless he's there of course)
Posted by: AngelEyes at September 8, 2006 04:59 PM
Hey Dave,
I love how you have blogs so often, it's nice to see you actually take time out of your day to put your thoughts down for the fans.
My town sucks and your CD isn't here, but I'm planning on ordering it soon, you guys are awesome.
As for RSSN. My favorite by far is Lukas. I feel he has it all. I mean yes, the others are extremly talented and I think I would buy a CD if/when storm has one out and Toby. I'm not sure about Magni though, but he is very talented. I would be able to listen to Lukas' voice for hours on end, infact I do, with all his songs from cleavage/Rise Electric and RSSN performances. I, however, do not enjoy Dilana's voice or lyrics, but that is just my opinion.
there was a comment saying
"Hey Dave, on the Lukas rocker blog page, his fanatics are telling each other to write to you and let you know how much they love him. I just got home from work and can't believe that these people have nothing better to do all day than write trash about the other rockers. And honestly, that is not true. I am a Lukas fan and I post on other boards, but you know what, I am not whacked-out, illiterate, stoned or unemployed. Infact, I'm a highschool student, you know I go online AFTER school. I have how people trash other rockers fans. It is pointless and quite immature. I mean...come on, we like who we like and that's all the matters. People insulting others is just useless, it gets you nowhere in life, it doesn't benefit you in any way, therefore, just don't do it.
Anyways Dave, just came on here to give you some love and support, you rock dude. And also thought I'd give some love and support for Lukas, man does that dude get harsh comments sometimes. Keep up the good work Dave and Lukas!

Lukas Rossi is amazing!!!
His stage presence, his voice, his charisma!
He is the one true ROCKSTAR that fits perfectly with SN. I am a proud member of the Rossi Posse and it is amazing to me the people who have nothing better to do than to dawg Lukas and his fans. Lukas can certainly stir people's emotions - one essential trait for a great lead singer! Love you Dave - keep up the great work!

Well Dave, Dilana Fan just said I was home all day because I am a Lukas fan and spent some time posting. A good friend of mine was killed in Afghanastan, he was with the Canadian Military, RCR Pro Patria. I was supporting his wife and children at a very moving memorial service for him and 4 other soldiers killed this week. I came on to the site because I have met some very great people on here and rockstar. I listen to your radio stream now, more than the actual radio. I don't come here to be crapped on by people who do not like Lukas. Lukas' songs and his fans helped me through a tough week, I just hate to see everything our boys fight for just sound so ignorant.
Posted by: Trust Me at September 8, 2006 05:03 PM
Holy cow. I was looking at the comments and remarking to myself that most are unique posters, which is different. Then I saw Angeleyes had like 8 posts all about supporting Lukas. Okay I got it. You like Lukas.
Magni and Toby get bashed a little bit, but the most virulent comments are reserved for Lukas and Dilana. They also seem to have the most dedicated fan bases. Coincidence?
Posted by: Joshua Godinez at September 8, 2006 05:03 PM
I am a Lukas fan and I take offense what I am presumed to be a wahcked out, illiterate, stoned and an unemployed person. I have an MBA and do make a substantial income. As far as I can gather from the posts and chatting with other fans of Lukas, most have careers mostly 18-45 yrs old. I can understand that they do not like Lukas, but to say that we are illiterate ... the poster must have been talking about Dilana's fans. Lukas will win this gig and if some don't like it, that's fine, Lukas has enough fans to fill a stadium in every city.
Posted by: Chloe at September 8, 2006 05:05 PM
Lukas has an intensity and presence that draws the listener into the music with him. His voice and vocal stylings are exquisite. He is one of those rare performers who connects. You might have trouble listening to a full set but, for me, one would never be enough.

Dave,
Why bash Lukas???????????
He is the true performer of this competition and the next future superstar!!
I have downloaded all his songs and they do not wear on me in fact the more that I hear them the more that I want to hear.
Don't diss this guy because one day you will be begging to play with him.
____________________________________________
Um, I am seeing a lot of shit about Dave being jealous of *snort* Lukas.. "begging to play with him"? Come on now. REALLY. Lukas or any of the other contestants on RSSN would give their left lung to be involved with anything Dave is involved with. Why the hell would DAVE need to be jealous, fear competetion or BEG to sing with not only Lukas but ANY of them.
If you don't like his opininon, that's cool, but you totally make yerselves look like asses when you when you try to make Dave seem like he is not the fucking rock star that he actually IS!!!
Posted by: evil at September 8, 2006 05:09 PM
WOW, I can't believe all the people that love Lukas. Everyone I talk to personally agrees that he's gone downhill since the beginning of the show.
Sorry, I was a Bon Jovi fan, and I hate what he did to that song.
Toby has a positive energy, and obviously great songwriting skills that Supernova needs.
BTW, I just love you Dave, went right out and bought the TPC CD as soon as I could after it went on sale. It's great.
Since I've gotten hooked on your website, I am so impressed with the person you are too.
Will miss seeing you on the show, hope I can catch you in person on the tour!

Sweet Dave,
I saw you with Jane's Addiction at Lollapalooza in Kansas City many moons ago. You are a rock god.
Two hours of Lukas' voice would not be enough- I would rather have many more! I am looking forward to seeing both of you on tour soon.

Dave, read a post basically calling anyone who posts here and enjoys Lukas a fanatic.
Ummm, no. At 49 I know what I like, I am no fanatic. I love to be entertained.
I don't want boy band (Toby)
I don't want boring rock (Magni)
I don't want emotional self-centered...(Dilana)
I want to have a GREAT time watching and listening....(Lukas)
Posted by: layne at September 8, 2006 05:17 PM
Dave....I can't believe you have the audacity to say that you don't think you could listen to Lukas sing for 2 hours!!! Especially now that you are touring with the band!! Lukas has more talent in one finger than you will ever have! He's a million times better 'performing alone,' than you and entire band!! You guys are that good anyway. Lukas will FAR surpass you in everything he does! Maybe you should keep your mouth SHUT! From all the thousands of LUKAS FANS!!!!
Posted by: Irene at September 8, 2006 05:17 PM
You can't deny the Lukas love on here Dave. You should have known your remarks about the rockers would get people excited which equals mucho ratings people which equals Happy Dave...you are happy aren't you Dave?
I didn't watch last year so I don't know if there was the same kind of craziness going on but their is alot of hate out there for Lukas and Dilana.
I am 100% behind Lukas and am not a teenager nor an I uneducated or jobless..such posts only make the author look ignorant (in every sense of the word)and prove that they don't know what they are talking about.
Anyway Lukas will win and Dave will be laughing all the way to the bank!
Rock on people and a shout out to all my Winnipeg people..Dave you need to make a trip up here!!

Sorry if he doesn't fall all over himself like some, but to me ROCK should be about the MUSIC, and MAGNI ROCKS the hell out of it. I will buy MAGNI music when I find it. If Supernova doesn't have MAGNI, I won't be buying their's.

Oh come on now.... You people cant tell me that if you had never heard of this show, and you happen to hear that Tommy, Jason, and Gilby were putting together a band, That you wouldn't want to at least check it out.
Wait to see what they do as a group before you pass judgement. So far everyone has had to sing songs that were chosen for the group. Most of which was not so great and generally not the persons style.
Who cares who they pick to front this band...
Add the opening acts and you will be getting your moneys worth no matter who is singing in front of the band. It is going to be quite a "show"

37, Master's Degree and NOT a Lukas fan. I thought he was good week one, but I think that's just because I've always been a Billy Idon fan, and he did Rebel Yell pretty good. However, he butchered that Bon Jovi tune. WTF. I'm all for changing songs up, bat that was, by far, the worst performance of the entire season. It was even worse than anything by Zayra, which I didn't think ANYTHING could get worse than that!
Posted by: Tracy T at September 8, 2006 05:36 PM
For my 2 pence for penuts ...
I still think that Storm was the only one of the rockers that could have maintained a strong front for SN as a lead. Her diversity would allow anyone to listen for 2 hours.
Of those actually remaining, I'd have to go with Toby, all of SN seem impressed with him.
Lucas and Dilana would both get old individually, but together they could pull off a show that would be memorable.
I really hope that you all add a KS or MO date to the schedule and I hope that Storm will be included with the House Band ... I'd go to see you and them without SN ... I like Jason & Tommy Lee however, Gilby has become so middle of the fence with his legs on one side one week, or for one person and on the other side the next week or person.
Hopefully SN knows what they are doing.

It is possible because Burnett says pick Dilana. This is a one tour deal and he feels that she would appeal to a larger sect of people. Lukas is the most talented of the 15 but this is all about how much money can be made in a short time.

I am a professional with a college degree and kids and I am a Lukas fan (not all Lukas fans are illiterate).
Lukas does have some issues that most people have to get over - his mumbling, his throaty growl, the heavy makeup, but his original music is DYNAMITE. He is the real thing. The most exciting performer I have seen on a competition show.
Toby would be great to see perform at a frat party (but alas that would have been twenty years ago for me and I have outgrown those parties). I really would not pay to see him at a concert.
Divana just doesn't do anything for me and I would not be able to watch Magni for 2 hours.

This 33 year old Canadian (with two degrees - and a large disposable income) is a big Lukas fan as well. It ain't just the kids who "get" him and his obvious appeal.

Lukas is the one for Supernova - the only one. He is a totally sexy hot singer and I personally could listen to him more than two hours. That's not all I'd like to do to him for more than two hours. I can't wait every week to see him. I save all his performances. There can be no other.... Lukas Rossi Rocks!!!!!

i like your assessment on the remaining 4 rockers. in my opinion, i think you are right on. my favorite/hope to win would be Magni because he is a consistent performer and does have shining moments.

Oh and I just wanted to say, Dave I'm not insulting your opinions at all! I respect them and I'm happy that you share them with us.
There is too much hate and negativity on your blog and I feel bad for you, if you read all these comments it must get annoying to hear things like "LUKAS SUCKS HE'S A HOBIT AND CAN'T SING" "DILANA IS A DWARF AND SHE SUCKS" "TOBY IS FOR A BOYBAND, HE ONLY ATTRACTS GIRLS" "MAGNI...HE'S JUST...NOT RIGHT" and also I've seen negative comments to you Dave. I think that is so immature, and I'm just a teenager myself, but I know not to go insulting others, it's bad karma man!
Everyone, why can't we just come on here and state our OPINIONS in a mature manner, compliment Dave on his success and just get alone. Seriously, if we all agreed this would be one boring world, that is WHY there is so many different things, so that there is something FOR EVERYONE!
Dave, you rock man. You're an amazing guitar player, I play also, and compaired to you, I am HORRIBLE!! haha. I love your band, and all the stuff you've done in the past. I know you've had to overcome lots of stuff in your life and you're turned out great. I'm glad you're concert was successful last night. Good luck and keep rocking.

Dilana has the voice and the edge???
C'mon Dave she is nothing but a wannabe who has offered nothing new. I would be very disappointed if she made Supernova and they passed on a talent such as Lukas Rossi.
But as the posts indicate it is not for the love of rock and roll it all comes down to making the green in the least amount of time............and that is soooooooooooo sad!!!!!!!!!

We should all respect each other. I agree. I love Lukas Rossi and only Lukas Rossi, but remember everyone Toby and Lukas have the same birthdays, are best friends and Toby's parents even asked Lukas to move to Australia if he wants to and posed in pictures with Lukas. They would not want Lukas and Toby fans to be hateful to each other. As for Dilana, well she deserves it. Magni is a great guy too. Lukas for Supernova and Toby for House Band.
Yeah!!!

Please DA stop the insults right now.
Dilana is NO WAY CLOSE to Janis, Stevie etc.
Spare me!
Dilana is a good covers singer who has lots of tatts and piercings and this look supposedly gives her an 'edge'. That is all.
If this was a 'looking like a rockstar' competition, she'd win. But it is actually BEING a rockstar - she is nowhere close.

Quoting Dave:
"So, it is Lukas, Toby, Dilana and Magni left on the show. HAHAHAHA."
Now this is THE most fair and accurate assessment I've seen from you, Dave. I'm impressed.
One thing is debatable, though. Toby's edge. You did make that clear that your statement was about your own taste. But to MY own taste Toby doesn't need any more than he's already bringing. I like his style and his lyrcizing (just a word I made up to describe how one vocalizes lyrics LOL! :-D), on top of his voice, his writing ability and his look. But I understand what you mean from YOUR own point of view.
The rest of the contestants, I agree 100% with you. So all in all, I'd say I agree 90% with your overall assessment.
Gee Dave, although you never reply, I feel the connection! HAHA!

OMG!!! I could listen to Lukas forever!!! Toby - too pop for me - a thousand like him out there right now. Magni - like him alot but not enough stage presence. Dilana - just don't get her - lots of talent but all over the place. I definitely couldn't watch her for more than a couple of songs. The woman is just not all there!! I think the guys were afraid they couldn't control themselves around Storm - they're probably right- but she could handle things a hell of alot better than Dilana. You guys were pretty mean to her at times and she handled it all with class. Dilana on the other hand, constantly blames everyone but herself.
What is it about Lukas - are the guys scared he'll take some of the limelight away from them - he's so intense and real on stage that it's hard to see anything else. Too bad, because just like JD is doing for INXS right now, Lukas is the guy that could take them in a new and amazing direction. But if all they want is a quick buck and a couple of forgettable pop hits - then Toby is their guy.
NO GUTS, NO GLORY GUYS!!! Please don't take the easy road.
