Wednesday Hatchet

Another early morning here in LA. I am just about to go over to CBS and watch Supernova throw down the hatchet again. My prediction? (which so far, has always been totally wrong every time...) I am going to have to go with Jill, even though her performance last night was one of her best. She has just been consistently wrong for the band in my opinion. As you know, I have no vote in the matter so I am always just as on the edge of my seat as the audience when they deliver the final word. Zayra? Well, I have been saying that she needs to go for weeks now, but every time I think it is going to be her, I am shocked by a different decision from the band. Either way, she is definitely more entertaining than Jill, even if it is for all the wrong reasons. Jill is clearly a better singer but Zayra is for sure more fun to watch. Oh yeah, sure, a lot of people out there are upset about it because they think she is around only because of her sexy outfits, but I'm telling you, she would be just as interesting to watch if she came out wearing a gunny sack. I have said it before and I stand by it... If Zayra got going on a solo career and did a really tripped out artsy record a la Peaches or Bjork, she could have something. Jill, on the other hand, does have a great voice and could more than likely excel doing something else too... Commercial work, her own project, whatever. The fact remains that whoever wins this thing has to front Tommy, Jason and Gilby. I only see a few possibilities for that role. As for the show last night and the option to do The Who song with Gilby, I was absolutely shocked that more singers didn't try to jump on that. A little insider info: Dilana claims she had never even heard that song before. I actually find that hard to believe, but if it is in fact true, it just goes to show you just how committed she is to take such a risk. Lukas? Well, he just destroyed it last night. I am glad to see him back on top with an entirely new side of his voice coming to the forefront. OK. If I don't get the hell outta here, I am gonna be late. Peace and love to all of you...

I agree. Dilana was all over the song. The guys need to get rid of Zayra...she makes me glad I have tivo.

I like watching you guys react to Zayra so it's all good. I liked Storm last night but still say Lukas or Dilana ( :

Good Morning!

Posted by: ceechica at August 9, 2006 05:43 AM

I agree it will be Jill gone tonight. Zayra should go but she seems to live under a lucky sign. What really bugs me about Zayra is that she sings every song in the same manner. Sure she changes her outfit but she never changes her vocal delivery style.

6 MORE DAYS !!!!!!

Posted by: JOHN DICKERSON at August 9, 2006 05:45 AM

Lukas was KILLER last night! I also thought Dilana was killer. For me, it was her best performance, and that she did a much better job working with Gilby than Jill did. I also loved Magni, Toby and Josh. Jill did her best performance, but all her strange dance moves bug me for some reason. While Zayra sounded better than usual last night, I think it's time for her to go. Yeah, she's fun to watch, but if they know there's no way in hell they'd hire her, they should just get rid of her. I was a bigger Storm fan in the very beginning, but, lately she bores me. I don't know what it is.

I'd LOVE to see Dave jump on stage and play with one of the rockers!

Can't wait to see what the band decides!

Posted by: Jaded at August 9, 2006 05:46 AM

I like Jill, but for other reasons. If she gets the job, and I won't see her on tour this Christmas Season. I really like Dilana, and I really hope that she wins it all. Lukas, I just can't seem to jump on the Lukas bus. I don't like him.

I love, Dave, how you keep a Blog and keep in touch with your fans. Rock on.

Posted by: Linda at August 9, 2006 05:49 AM

I also think Lukas killed it last night, but I am concerned that he is "too into himself" to benefit SN. I think he could pull off fronting them, but I think their personallities would clash off stage. What do you think Dave?

By the way...great show!!

Like alot of people I've been bitching about Zayra so I went looking for her myspace page and I actually liked what I heard! She's not going to win this but it will be interesting what she does.

Posted by: sigga at August 9, 2006 05:50 AM

I thought last night rocked. Except for Zayra, I just can't stand to watch her..like..it's almost painful. The last and best performance she had was "Everybody Hurts" after that, depsite her theatrics, I think she's gone to much into SHOCK and can't bring the rock..

I'm still pulling for Dilana, but after Lukas' performance last night with Creep, I was finally impressed with him.

I also wanted to say how absolutely awesome it was that Supernova had Magni's family flown in..just shows how ultimately cool they are.

As always, Dave, you were just too hot for words..much love and kisses your way..

Posted by: Bonbon at August 9, 2006 05:51 AM

I agree with jaded. It's always great to see Dave on stage!!! As for who should go? Josh has good vocals for the backstreet boys. Jill screams too much. Zayra is the comedy part of the show, fun too watch but not right for rock-n-roll!!!Dilana has the showmanship to front a band.Anyway Have a great day Dave!!!

Dave... you make the show for me, your comments & reactions are too funny! I've been a big fan of yours for many, many years (Jane's is still my favorite to this day)& wish you luck in everything you do.

Are you gonna play with any of the group? I would love to see you on stage with Dilana! The show was great last night! My top pick, Dilana, Lukas, Magni, and Ryan.. You always rock my world. I am counting the days until your CD come out!

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd repost my thoughts here since this is the thread for it. If you already read my post last night go ahead and skip it.

Great article, Dave! Love every thing you do but especially hearing you on guitar. LOVE to see you on the Rockstar stage!

So about tonight...everybody kicked it up a notch. Best show so far. If you've read my previous posts you know I can't stand Jill but I actually thought she was ok tonight so I'm not going to rag on her this time.

Dilana was good but her (lack of) range is starting to get to me and that song she wrote was pathetic and, quite frankly, embarassing.

Magni was amazing. I hate LIVE and for me to like one of their songs is a feat and I thought Magni's performance had a depth we hadn't previously seen from him.

I thought Josh, Patrice, Jill, and Storm were good...that's it! Josh really benefited from having Tommy back him up. I have to say that I've been absolutely BLOWN AWAY by Tommy's playing. He's incredible!

I thought Zayra did a great job. I love that song, I love how she presented it. She's different and that's what I dig, she takes chances and I think it's fresh. Gilby's comment about her being flat was, in my opinion, off the mark. Storm was flat, David Lee Roth spent an entire career being flat, and Gilby himself was WAY off key when he was singing along with Dilana.

I know Dave liked it but I thought Ryan went a little Vegas/ Broadway Showtune with that version of Paint It Black. At least he's giving it his all, I appreciate the enthusiasm. I mean I still thought it was good...just a bit melodramatic.

I thought Tobey was bad. To me he's like a bad cover band singer that over sings everything. Dave was SO right about the megaphone being gimmicky and cheap. He bores me senseless.

In my last post I said Lukas was going to either Kill it or suk ass (again). And he F---in' KILLED IT. That was the best performance of a really fantastic show (with Magni a very close second).

Anyway those are my opinions. I think it should be Tobey, Jill, and Patrice on the bottom three. And even though she didn't completely offend me this time I would like to see Jill pack her bags and move out of the mansion.

Cheers!
Rob K

Lukas should win. I used to feel that either Lukas, Dilana, or Magni deserved the honor. However,...Dilana has shown a very unbecoming side of herself. And Magni can be a star anywhere.
I can't wait to watch a show without Jill - the rest I wish them all the sucess they in the world!!

Its my first time commenting but i just have to say Lukas was great i was really surprised i mean what a voice bro but looks like he is holding back alittle bro let it all out. Dilana and Gilby how awsome was that! But as for Zayra well what can i say almost everyone thinks the same. Honestly the next person to go might be Zayra. Well cant wait to see who goes its always surprising! Dave it would be an honor to see you with th band someday. Time to go laters

Amazing performances from Dilana and Lukas last night. Too bad SN won't pick both of them. Wouldn't that be one hell of a show! So glad Ryan has come out of his shell. Magni, well this show is creating stars. Jill is painful to watch most of the time. As long as there are semi-easy cuts to make, Zayra will be around for comedy relief. I hope for her sake she doesn't have false hope re: the show having survived this long. Thanks to Dave, SN, Brooke and that killer houseband for a terrific season!

ummm, the email addy on Carmen's official website is just to request autographed pics....FYI..I don't even want to admit why I know that, they were for my son...yeah, that's it...

Savvy, love to you...that's why I love this family, we can disagree and still respect each other, thanks for that!!

and Dave...how you can put two sentences together at 5:30 in the morning after a performance show on Sunday, flights in and out of the Windy City, and a killer show Monday night..well...see, that's why you are the shizzle!

One last comment before the hatchet slices through another neck...

SUPER KUDOS to Supernova who gave the Rockers guitars!!! that was just too hottt of a move on their part!!!

Posted by: Savvy at August 9, 2006 06:51 AM

the thing about Dilana is every week she claims to to have heard the song before. I think it is a game to make her stand out more (a la taking risks).

toby killed and didnt really need the megaphone, especially for as long as he used it.

Posted by: scott at August 9, 2006 07:04 AM

"Jill did her best performance, but all her strange dance moves bug me for some reason."

Thank you!!! Even though she has a good voice, I am hoping that she will be gone after tonight, because I am allergic to the Milli Vanilli shuffles...and yes it is sad that I see the resemblance.

Posted by: Larinda at August 9, 2006 07:09 AM

Damn...I had a hard time going to sleep last night after ending the show with Toby...toby be gone...the megaphone...come on!!! I couldn't even believe he pulled that thing out; way too RS-INXS for me!!! I missed Dilana and Ryan which are two I was totally looking forward to. Zayra that bitch commands attention and I think that's what I'm really digging about her...her vocals were all over the place...in an interesting manner...and Dave did I see you standing and singing during her performance? I think deep down we really love her. Magni for the first time really intrigued me...congratulations dude that was a great performance!!! And Lukas...for a second I got really worried for 1 creep is one of my most favorite songs and out of all the times I've seen radiohead, they've only performed it once...so the memory is absolutely priceless...he kind of lost me when his voice hit those really highnotes just before the climax of him belting that great roar and pop-lock moment of freakout the performance just got better for me after that moment.

Good morning and have a great day!!! Can we please not end the show with toby or Josh...it really makes for a hard night of sleep since in my opinion they both suck.

Been listening to (ONe) on VHI and I have to apologize for not being able to hold til it's release day...I"m loving it so much that when I stroll down to ameoba on haight the damn thing won't be coming out of my player for months!!!

Kisses~

Dave...I think you might actually be correct in your prediction for tonight. Those are my thoughts exactly!

Posted by: Dawn at August 9, 2006 07:30 AM

Alot of people are predicting Jill, including moi!!!
Wouldn't it be funny if they also got the "kiss of death" like Heidi gives on Project Runway!!!

Posted by: Savvy at August 9, 2006 07:37 AM

I don't like Dilana's voice. She sounds like a Man... Zayra has a better voice in my opinion, I mean, that David Bowie song is originally awesome, and it didn't sound bad at all. And then again, singing one of Bowie's songs is gotta be hard.

Posted by: violet at August 9, 2006 07:37 AM

wow dave....such honest comments.....nice to see
loved the show last night.....i usually agree with you when you are critiquing the performers
dilana and lukas all the way!!!!!!!!

Posted by: kanoehead at August 9, 2006 07:38 AM

I can only see 3 serious contenders, although I admit to hoping Zayra hangs around a while longer. Hey! She's interesting & honest, so sue me.

Toby: I think he's falling apart. He's going in a dozen different directions and seems rattled.

Jill: I'm to the point where I'm not sure if I can tolerate watching another performance from her, although I can't figure out why she irritates me so much.

Magni: My mind tends to wander when he's on - I'm just not getting the appeal here. I think Magni's opinion of Magni is a lot higher than mine.

Josh: He could be killer with the right band, but I don't think SuperNova is that band. I'd buy his version of "Santeria" in a heartbeat - I loved it!

Storm: Her voice is fine as long as she's standing absolutely still, but she's lacking in charisma - there's just nothing about her that makes me want to see her sing.

Patrice: I keep waiting for her to break out in a rendition of "Gypsies, Tramps, & Thieves". Wait - is she still on the show?

My Picks for Top Three:
1. Lukas: He sounds fantastic, is eminently watchable, obviously wants to learn, and last night FINALLY gave us a taste of that which he's capable. I believe Jason's got him pegged exactly. The only concern I see with Lukas is his lack of maturity.

2. Dilana: I was a huge Dilana fan during the first three shows and even felt sorry for all the other Rockers since it seemed (at the time) they didn't stand a chance. However, in my opinion (and remember, it's just an opinion!), there's a big problem with Dilana: her voice never changes pitch, only volume. I'm afraid she may be a one-trick pony. Gilby & the band "made" that song last night - not Dilana.

3. Ryan: He's improved with every performance and has very definitely been Paying Attention. His (seemingly) quiet personality complements the other three (SN) perfectly. His voice is so spot-on and powerful I've actually gotten goosebumps a couple of times. I've been super-surprised by how Ryan's turned out and am betting it'll come down to Lukas & him. I honestly think Ryan's capable of explosive performances and believe we're all in for a few great future shows. Still waters run deep. Sorry for such a long post!

Hey Dave,

Great show last night..a 1000x better than last week. I think we are heading into a bit of a lall on the show the next 4 weeks until the current bottom feeders are weeded out. I really hope there is a double elimination soon just to keep everyone on their toes and committed to bring the best they have every week. Also it would be great to get more than a verse from Lukas one of these weeks. He did Kill it last night but I think it would have been unbelievable if we could have gotten more of the song. Mabey next year Creep stays in the vault until later on in the show.

CHRISTINE, I TOTALLY SEE LUKAS FRONTING SUPERNOVA. THEY KEEP TALKING ABOUT HOW YOU NEED A STRONG PRESENCE BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO DISAPPEAR WHILE FRONTING THE BAND. IN MY OPINION THEY WOULD DISAPPEAR BEHIND LUKAS. HE IS ABSOLUTELY MESMERIZING!!! EVEN IF THERE WAS A CLASH OF PERSONALITIES, THEY WOULD WORK IT OUT!

To the young lady that advised me to re-install flash, I did and it worked. Thanks

I still LOVE you too DAVE!!! I just wanted to let you know, because you must be jealous about how much I keep ranting and raving about Lukas!!! Am I fuckin funny or what?

Posted by: Linda at August 9, 2006 07:44 AM

Dilana did another incredible performance, perfectly balancing the vocals with the rockin' instrumentals. Well done Gilby! It was also good to hear how Dilana and Gilby's vocals matched up on the harmonies. Like you, I think it beyond stupid for the others not to have fought to play with him.

The other standout was Lucas. He started off strong but then his vocals got weaker and weaker by the week. Last night he FINALLY started using proper vocal technique and it made all the difference that Jason predicted it would.

I enjoyed Magni very much. He, Lucas and Dilana all caused me to get goosebumps and I never, ever disagree with my hair standing on end, lol!

The others were all ok although I have to give full props to Zayra for not breaking an ankle in those platform shoes, lol.

I'm wondering if 2-3 people are going to be sent home tonight.

Violet, David Bowie wrote "All the young dudes" but it was recorded by Mott the Hoople. Though I have seen Bowie perform it live.

Dave loved my private little listening party last night on the VH1 site! I can't wait to head over to Tower Records on Tuesday!

Best show so far. Almost everyone was on it last night and it's great to see them all putting it out there on the line for something so huge. I didn't hear Dilana say she'd never heard the Who song before - BS!! But I still think she's the only female performer who could front SN. She may even be the only performer on the show that can pull it off. The thing is when you hear her voice you know who it is; very distinctive and she gives me cold chills when she sings. I have been anti-Lucas since I first saw him even though I'll admit he is one of the few who really has that rock star look. I liked the hair down over his massive forehead but he still needs to lose the skunk stripe! Someone mentioned his pop-lock move from last night - I didn't know exactly what it was but when he turned towards the band and did that little move I thought it was a little bit Steve Tyler/Mick Jagger but still Lucas. Pretty cool. And the vocals on Creep were the first that I liked him singing. I think he growls a little too much and maybe would be better off in some black metal band. I don't know, maybe I'm having trouble with the fact that I really liked him last night! The artistic reveal thing Ryan did with the wig/hat was a way-cool start to his performance. Thinking outside the box like a rocker should. I was impressed. And Magni's solo with the guitar was fantastic! I was also impressed with Toby's performance last night. As for Zayra: time to go home. I'll live with Jill one more week just because she's a cutie and she did a great job last night. Patrice shouldn't be around too much longer either. She's just not doing it and there's no way she can front this bad-boy band. I agree with some others here that it would be way cool to see Dave up on stage with one of the rockers. Even better yet, to have Tommy, Gilby, and Jason on stage together with one of the performers. Talk about high pressure! Peace out all!

Morning DN & 67’ers,
Dave, loved the Carmela comment, and your observation of Toby and the megaphone was spot on. Leave it to Scott, please. Besides, JD pulled out that trick last year! But Ryan surprised me with his dramatic entrance and performance. Shrill Jill has to go. Yes, it was better, but still not good enough. Patrice might be in the B3 too, she disappears and has been forgettable. Lukas was excellent—I love that song and he did it justice.

I have a VERY hard time believing that Dilana (whoa, I almost typed Jordis—what does that say?!) has never heard Won’t Get Fooled Again—what rock fan hasn’t heard that song?! I could see that maybe she didn’t hear Ring of Fire, but this one too? Nah.

I hope Jill goes tonight.

Chrissy, I wouldn’t feel bad about listening online to (ONe), the guys put it there for us to enjoy!

Have a great day, all!

Love,
Sue

I actually agree with 'sigga' about Zayra - she is TOTALLY interesting and her myspace page bares it out. I still KIND of cringe with her live vocals, and her style doesn't totally suit me, but she is definitely on to something - something missing for quite a while. Dave, I may have mentioned it before, but does Josh sound EXACTLY like Jose Feliciano, or what? Josh/Jose - two words, different by one letter - coincidence, I think not... :)

Linda,

I respect your opinion and agree that Lukas could front SN. But relationships between band mates can make or break a band...and I'm just not confident that Lukas would mesh with them. It's just an observation...I'm sure we don't see the "whole" picture. Editing can be deceiving!

Anyway...it's cool...Dave's the reason I watch, as with most of us.

Peace!

Last night was killer for me.. The best thing about Dilana's performance was how she wasn't swallowed up in the least by Gilby being on the stage with her... she held her own and even in my opinion commanded the most attention... a great risk that no one else wanted... lukas destroyed creep... no arguments here.. i think he has further progress to make on cleaning up his vocal style but indeed needs to fight for a song with SN on stage.. (why is he so timid in that respect..?) magni was amazing... but while storm magni and even ryan or toby have vocal stylings that rock.. only dilana or lukas have the rock the house performance presence to front SN and not be swallowed up or at least diluted... weaknesses in dilana or lukas... dilana's song writing was a bit too "beach boys gone horny" and lukas has the personality of someone carrying enough baggage to make it something SN would find tiring quickly... I still think those two and for me "dilana's to lose" as for who is going... gawd please channel donald trump and fire Jill so she can get back to her summer job on her stripper pole.. Patrice so she can go bartend at hooter's.. and zayra so she can go make wallets at some lovely inpatient program in the hampton's... Josh so he can get his wobbly neck fixed and take up harmonica.. and Ryan needs to go to cosmetology school and define himself not be a cookie cutter out of desperation... whew ok ty for my rants... i love this show can't wait every week... and you Dave are the best mix of brutal honesty and sensitivity.. and TOMMY LEE is a friggin madman on skins that crushes it like no other!!!!!!!

Dave,

I love reading your blog and watching you on RS:SN. I think it's so cool that you keep in such close touch with your fans! After watching last night, Dilana and Lukas seem to be the only top contenders for the front spot. I would like to see Dilana use more of her higher vocal ranges, and Lukas blew me away with his range last night!

I'll have to hit the RS:SN website in the morning to see who got sent home since I'm working tonight, but I'm with you, Dave: Jill's gotta go; however a double elimination of Jill and Zayra would work for me too.

Take good care of yourself, Dave!

Word... Jill has the better voice but she is almost on the same fine line as Zayra when it comes to being the next to go. However Zayra has a lot more of the likability factor going for her.

It could very well be Jill...

I am excited and heartwrenced for this season at the same time because, contrary to what I originally thought the first Tuesday, there is a lot of talent here. Last night's show was the best up to date I think. Last year going into the finale I was nervous for JD but deep down I knew he was the only option for INXS - now with SN, there are a number of people that could fit. I think the suspense could give me a heart attack this year going into the finale...

Dilana however may have shot herself in the foot with those lyrics... people are calling it her Achille's heel... I don't disagree.

Ok, so Lukas was good last night, but he just is not consistent enough to front these guys. Dilana is awesome too! I just think for my $ (and Joe Escalante agrees with me on this one) that Ryan Star should be the "Rock Star." He just hasn't shown any real weaknesses and he always just brings it with his answers to the guys or his music. Ok, time to work in this lame cube! Luvnpeace2uya2D.N.et.al,

Wow...maybe I am off the mark...But I wasnt all that impressed with some of the usually dead on performances.
I love Dilana, yet last night something was different. Just didn't kick it for me.
Storm was great per usual these two ladies. Yet after seeing Storm's old band vids...she has a lot more to offer and I have to wonder why she isn't doing it?
I was more impressed with Lukas and Magni.
I agree with the Jill thought..She is trying too hard and oversinging and its killing her.
I still dont like Zayra...FOr entertainment? Yes.

I just want to give major major props to Magni and his INCREDIBLE rendition of "The Dolphin's Cry". I absolutely LOVE that song, and I was just blown away by his interpretation of it. It's not easy to take a song, stum an acoustic guitar and still ROCK THE FUCKING HALL but he did it! I really hope he gets the encore - it was just amazing.

I also enjoyed hearing Lukas actually *sing* for once - his voice is really pretty good behind the growl. I didn't like Toby's take on "Burning Down the House" too much - espcially not the megaphone - but I gotta say it was the first time I could actually understand the lyrics at all, so that's something, eh? :)

6 days until (ONe)! Woot!

Morning Dave and 67 Fam,

The show was great last night. Stand outs were definitely Magni, Lukas and Delana. Those 3 are the only ones who have what it takes to front that band. I had the same exact reaction as you did Dave to Toby’s performance,Dave. I was totally feeling it until the megaphone…I mean come on.

**6 days till (ONe) is in my hands! Fuck yeah!**

I’m definitely looking forward to tonights show. Im hoping the 3 that were in the bottom last night after the show ended, stay there! (Jill, Zayra and Patrice) Then a triple elimination…HA! Dave…when are you gonna shock the shit outta us like Tommy did on last night’s show?!? I can’t wait till you jump up to shred some song with one of the lucky contenders…its gonna be great!

Have a great day everyone…we’re half way to the weekend!!

Love, Amber :)

Why do we keep comparing her to Peaches? Zayra would have nuttin' on 'Impeach My Bush' and 'Fuck The Pain Away'! But for the first time I do have to admit that Zayra is pretty entertaining in a non-peach and non-bjork way. Personally, I think she belongs in a different genre that would allow for her to express her ARTISTIC and 'MUSICAL' talents.

Posted by: Angel at August 9, 2006 09:02 AM

I dont think Dilana is going to win. Her voice is just too scratchy. I dont think she has enough rang to do what the boys want to do. She has the type of voice that just wont fit into certain music and can get annoying after a while of hearing it.

Posted by: lyle at August 9, 2006 09:04 AM

I really loved "you had me until the megaphone." That, Dave Navarro, made my whole rockstar experience. Great LA Times article!

I'd like to see Lukas in jeans and a black t-shirt, less bling and get rid of that stripey hair. He seems very confident on stage, it would be interesting to get some of the SN guys get up on stage with him!

I think he'd probably do an awesome job!

I saw Britain...
I saw France...
Now I want to see Tommy's leather underpants!!!

Posted by: Savvy at August 9, 2006 09:33 AM

Hey Dave I love how you are catching the buzz from all the blogs and commenting on it.Dilana apparently not knowing one of the top 10 greatest rock songs of all time was raisng some eyebrows and you made a statement about it... nice job.

Although I wasn't impressed with it and not because I'm a purist eveyone knows The Who is very difficult to cover but that song was extremely well done by the house band and Gilby so all you gotta do is show up and sing it and it should come of really well and I think it was just OK.

Zayra I enjoyed her performance although I didn't understand a word she said.See that's what being a star is all about.

I don't believe you actually think Ryan is a contender maybe be a bit more emphatic the next time you tell us how good he is because it's just not getting across to me on my TV.

Lukas I still think he a better voice than this and I want to hear it he's still much more talented than the rest of this lot though.

Magni was really tight. He's a pro.

I really enjoying the show especially SN the house band and you Dave.I gotta say though I am really starting to have difficulty seeing who your going to put in the finale with Lukas to make us think someone else has a chance.

Posted by: KeithMoonLives at August 9, 2006 09:47 AM

what the hell...they put on a baseball game in Baltimore instead of Rockstar last night!!!!!!!

Posted by: michele at August 9, 2006 09:48 AM

Dave I have to agree that is was great that Dilana wanted to play with Gilby, although I was a little disappointed in Gilby’s guitar playing last night. But do you still think she should get the job after you watched her performance? And moreover after her original song she wrote about thongs and lotion, which made Stop Go sound good: and that is hard to do. If SN is looking for someone with song writing chops then Dilana is not the one for the job.

Plus I could not watch or listen to her for 2 hours.

Posted by: lukasfan at August 9, 2006 09:51 AM

Michele...
you're going to have to spank the head of the channel and warn him to never do it again!!!
i say him, because a woman wouldn't do such a dumb
thing as replace RockStar with baseball!!!

Posted by: Savvy at August 9, 2006 09:51 AM

singing about a thong
rhyming it with song
is just plain wrong
no matter the notion
of how she rubs the lotion
or stirs the lyrical motion
she puts into the potion

lol... i couldn't resist...

Hi Dave

Tuesday and Sunday nights are special time to share with my two sons (21 and 24 years old )this amazing show. We love Dylana and desire that she wins . Besides She is a rock star she looks like a nice person too. Luckas seems very arrogant and Zayra make me feel ashamed in each preformance (I am latina too).

Congratulations

Un abrazo Dave. Me encanta tú presencia en el programa !

Daizie-

My only guess regarding Storm would be that She got spooked early by Dave's comments about her "crazy eye" stuff and toned down her theatrics which are such a part of her live performances with her previous bands. I have been a fan of her for some time and am absolutely mezmerized every time I see her perform live or on Rockstar.
As for the other performers:
Lukas - VERY good last night...though I still find him abbrasive. Talented, but just don't like him for reasons I can't explain
Dilana - She is good, but her gravely voice would get old fast - as has been said before, she might me a "one trick pony"
Magni - I really like him. He was great last night. Seems comfortable performing.
Ryan - Holy Crap! This guy is getting better and better each week at an alarming rate! Hardly noticed him the first three weeks, and then WOW
Toby - Good...The megaphone felt phoney last night, but I thought the song was a good one for him.
Josh - last nights song was a good one for his voice but I don't think he is right for SN and deep down, I don't think he thinks he is either...
Patrice- she is good, but not right at all for this group. Time to go home
Jill - I am going to stick hot sharp objects in my ears if I must sit through another one of her butcher jobs. Go back to your local bar and front the cover band. Seems to be what she is best suited for.
Zayra - entertaining in a "car wreck" kinda way, but every time she comes on, I start singing the old Sesame Street song, "which of these things is not like the other" cuz she just doesn't fit in nor belong here.

I love the Rockstar talk here, but honestly people, let's leave Dave's personal life alone for now, as I am sure it is still a very difficult time.

Two more days Dave and you'll be hopping around with some bunnies!!!

Posted by: Savvy at August 9, 2006 10:12 AM

I thought last night was great to watch. Many of the singers did the best job they have done so far. Tonight I think the bottom three will be Jill,Patrice, and either Zayra or Josh. Jill just can't seem to give SN what it wants so stop the suffering already. For all Zayra haters; I bet there a a dozen agents waiting for her to offer her a sitcom. She could never front this band, and I am not a fan of outragous costumes, but she has guts and you have to admire that. Patrice does a good job, but there is just something that doesn't me feel her music. Josh has a pretty voice but not strong enough in the venue I think. One week Ryan has me and another he doesn't. Well that's all for this old lady today. Can't wait until tonight.

It was great to hear you on WMMR here in Philadelphia this morning. It was even better to hear "Why Cry" on the radio after the interview! I am going to keep on requesting it.

One thing that I am pleasantly surprised is what a sweetheart Tommy is and how intelligent and articulate Jason is. They are both two people that I would love to have coffee with. Those are my favorite times sitting around with cofffee, or wine, and talking.

Usually I think the guys are right on with their comments to the contestants--but, last night I didn't get it. I love Dilana and think she is one of the top contenders, but I don't think that was a good song choice for her. Or, that she even performed it well.

Jill--I have said Jill needs to go back to 101 basics with her voice and performing. Only a couple of times have I been impressed with her--other than that it is painful to watch her.

Ok, Z....I just don't get it--at all! I don't even know how she was chosen to be on the show. I agree with Dave about her going solo. She is either extremely confident or completely oblvious. Not sure yet.

Josh and Toby--there have been great performances, but, for me, they aren't memorable.

I love Storm, Dilana, and Lucas. Though, Magni is a force in his own right. I think any of these four could easily front the band. Probably will be either Lucas or Magni though.

Thanks,
Jen

The show is getting to be amazing. I think that the front-runners are clear... Dilana, Lukas, and Toby... However.. the silent runner.. The innocuous threat that no one sees coming.. Magni.. He KILLED IT last night!

Dave- thank you, to yourself and the fellas for keeping it entertaining from week to week.. My fiancée and I tune in religiously to watch.

I'm sorry but, quite frankly, Toby is becoming the male version of Jill for me. And I agree with Scott that sticking sharp objects in you ears seems like a good idea while she's singing. It's best to close your eyes as well, that bad Jazzercise dance workout looking thing she does is ridiculous.

Toby oversings everything and his frat boy fauxhawk makes him look like he should be in a cover band at a sportsbar.

Magni should get the encore but they'll probably give it to Lukas since he actually remembered the words to his song this week.

Posted by: rob K at August 9, 2006 10:48 AM

I love Dilana and Magni. Magni just gets better and better. Lukas is also a contender. I'd love to see a 3 way kick-off, there are several singers just not right for the band and they don't seem to be changing week to week. Dave, I miss your interactions with last year's contestants...sweet Susie McNeil and what happened to Jordis? She's awesome.

Ok, I give up so I'm coming out of lurk mode... Here's a suggestion for future shows - instead of voting for who you like, how about voting for who you *didn't* like? That would be much easier to do IMO.

I don't get it. DN you liked Patrice and Toby on their last performance. I have to say, I like them the least. Patrice is just too campy and her voice is wrong to front SN. Toby had a nice performance, but I have a problem with his vocals.

I am quite enjoying watching everyone's expression when Zayra performs. As much as she's not right... the entertainment value (and shock value!) is priceless.

Posted by: Mud at August 9, 2006 10:53 AM

Dilana was such a natural up there with Gilby. I dig her voice and antics.

Dave, I'm all for the triple elimination. Holy shit...do we have to agonize over this next week?

I had to get up and leave again during Jill's performance. I posted once before that I get embarrassed for them. It's weird, but I just can't watch them humiliate themselves. And when the camera flashes to Jason Newstead and he's rubbing his forehead and he appears that he's looking at the rockers in disbelief....it's soooooooo comical. I love it.

Lukas, I like him-but can't always understand him. BUT....do you have to? I mean, I've been to plenty of rock shows and been like..."what the fuh"??

Anyway the show is fun and I dig it and I always look forward to your comments, Dave. You are brutal sometimes but not malicious (IMO) and I'd fear you more than Hatchet Day! LOL

Love yer show!

Good Afternoon Dave,
I CANNOT believe how everyone except Dilana dissed the chance to sing with Gilby!! UNBELIEVABLE! So glad you called them on it. Dilana, such a rock bitch!, but lookout, there is a Storm behind her and DAMN Lukas!!!!!!!! Anyway, another great show. Lookin' forward to the hatchet man tonight, (goodbye Jill), and of course you too!

Posted by: Sharon Roberts at August 9, 2006 11:00 AM

First of all...All of the performers on this show are awsome if for no other reason than because they have the balls to know what they want and go after it. Not everyone could get up in front of a group of guys like Dave, Jason, Gilby, & Tommy without feeling completely intimidated. Despite your taste or your favorite performer, they all deserve a lot of credit.

Second of all...I love the elimination process. Supernova gets a feel for what the "people" want but when it's all said and done, they have the final say.
Third of all...could Tommy be any cuter than when he's wailing on the drums? He just looks like he's having so much fun, like a little kid who is having the time of his life when he's playing.

It's so interesting to watch 4 different personalities up there, giving their constructive criticism in their own way because they all see different things about each performer.

I definitly do not envy the band for having to chose one of these 10 really talented artists. I am super pumped to see who it will be and to hear the first track on the first album.

And Dave...I love your honesty in these blogs. You make me laugh and nod my head in agreement simultaneously.

Cheers!

Enjoying the show. Loved it with INXS and JD (yeah baby!), enjoying it even more this time around with Dave and T.Lee. All the contestants are talented in their own right. I see it down to Dylana, Lucas, Magne, and Storm. My bets on Storm.

Dave, you didn't look like you were into the show last night?

Posted by: Chris P. at August 9, 2006 12:25 PM

Dave,

I have to say, I'm really finally getting into Rockstar now. I was only liking a couple people here and there and just gritting my teeth through the other performances. But last night, almost everyone really stepped it up. Even though there are some obvious choices for who CAN'T front the band, it was the first time I actually felt like there was enough potential going around to make this a real competition. Thanks for all your down to earth advice to the rockers, and for keepin' it real and keepin' in touch with us on your blog. :) We all appreciate it.

See you all after the Hatchet Man announces tonight's decision. :) Have a good day, Dave, and all.

Much Love,
~Ali

"There is still a version of "all the young dudes" by David Bowie, but he originally wrote it for mott the hoople, yeah. but i still think zayra's performance was better than dilana's."

The only Bowie verison available was a master tape recording that appeared on Rarest One (hahahah (ONe)get it!) Bowie CD released in 1995. Everyone knows the song as Mott the Hoople's. Even in concert David will say he wrote it but gives all props go to MTH. It's funny because when he does "The man who sold the world" he also gives Nirvana props for making the song popular!!

Zayra, I think she is just going for shock value now, before she gets turfed. I can't understand the lyrics, she's off key a lot. The outfits are getting skimpier/revealing all the time. Why not just wear a thong and some pasties?

I could see her as one of the hosts for Entertainment Tonight, prancing around the red carpet and asking the celebs fashion questions, give Stephen Cojocaru some competition!

Poor Jill, she has a knockout voice but she always seems to end up throttling her songs at some point.

May the better one not get axed!!

Posted by: vicki at August 9, 2006 01:26 PM

No matter how wacked the decesions seem, Gilby Tommy and Jason are going to tear the place up. I thought Lukas was the best.

Posted by: evil1340 at August 9, 2006 01:29 PM

Can we just axe Jill, Patrice, Josh, Toby and Zayra all together and get to the meat of the competition. These 5 have NO chance.

Dilana, Storm, Lucas, Ryan and Magni are the only "Contenders" as far as I see it.

Posted by: John at August 9, 2006 01:30 PM

Dilana is a great performer, but I can't imagine a woman fronting for Supernova. As for Lucas...

Posted by: Jay at August 9, 2006 01:35 PM

I thought lukas killed it last night! I gotta say I'm getting a little tired with Dilana...For the first few weeks I thought she absolutley killed it, I was enchanted...now I'm a little bored with her...What I don't understand, is why Ryan got such mad props last night, I thought it was totally whack...He was great on the piano for REM, but when he's running around the stage he just seems out of his element...

This just in from Ryan Starr's publicist. Ryan has no interest in being the lead singer of this band, he is here to do self promotion only. He also said tonight 2 are out a boy and girl. Think J's

I don't know how much Dave checks these comments. I hope that they call his butt on it all. I am so tired of this self-promotion BS

I saw the spoilers too. Doesn't ruin the show for me, because I still like to see the encores, and the "sing for your life" performances. I also love hearing what the guys have to say.

I still think Dave should play with the rockers at least once this season. It would even benefit Supernova because all 3 of them could see how a particular rocker can hold his/her own with someone so dynamic. See? Totally works for me!

I don't want to have any of the show ruined for me either. So in my opinion Ryan Starr should be outted. Ridiculous that his camp would blow like that and worse that they brag that he is not in it for the right reasons

Posted by: me at August 9, 2006 04:13 PM

You know, honestly up until this point I really did not grok Lukas at all. Like Jason, I found his vocals strained. He's got the "look" but I really didnt identify his look as being particularly rock - at least not the rock I grew up with. But last night, he made me a believer. He killed that song not because he was flashy and a good performer...he killed that song because FINALLY I got to see him open his throat and let something out besides a gravely growl!

Sadly, I'm beginning to agree with some of you about Dilana. Last night's performance left me scratching my head a bit. I found her utterly enchanting the first few weeks, but more and more its sounding like the same thing. She's an awesome performer with great stage presence, but I'm not really finding much versatility with her voice. You can only scream like Janis for so long before people start asking what else you can do.

I have never been a Jill fan so it wouldnt shock me at all to see her go before Miss Rock Star Planet Pluto. (gotta love Dave for giving us that one last night!) Sharp objects in the ears indeed! I've owned cats that went into heat more gracefully than her performing.

Ryan left me a tad confused. And frightened by what looked like a dead beast clinging to his back. I dont care if he did get laid after Losing My Religion last week. He's like a hipper Ben Stiller...but still hopelessly trapped in Geekville. Dont get me wrong, Geekville isnt a bad place - after all I am Geekgirl to the core - but geek is not what you want in front of Tommy Lee when he's banging to hell and back. I soooo get why he has a stuffed Animal hanging from his drum!

Josh? meh... I really dont get him at all. He seems to sound a little too coffee house hippie funk to me. Course, he was JUST the sort of coffee house hippie funk I liked to pounce back in my coffee house wenching days. He's the poor man's Gavin DeGraw.

Troy: WTF? This is ROCK STAR darlin'...not an audition for the Lifetime Network's Huey Lewis biopic! He's rapidly becoming the performer I ignore to go do my dishes or something more productive.

Patrice is as forgettable as Troy is. You know Dave, as EP I'm sure you have a little pull in the performance order. Maybe next week you can put Troy and Patrice back to back? That way I'll have enough time haul my laundry down 2 flights of stairs and 2 buildings over to the laundry room in my apartment complex. I promise to walk fast, ok?

Magni, sweet Magni. I'm so glad someone besides me has notices that perhaps Sir Magni is a little more into the mystique of Magni than the rest of humanity. Sadly, I think he might just be commercial enough to be the last man standing. He's got a good look and he's got talent. I'm sure what he lacks the music industry marketing Gods can take care of. I still say he doesnt deserve to take home the Rock Star Tiara.

I like Storm...and then I dont. I dont know what it is about her. Maybe its the crazy eye thing? Maybe she's just a little too pretty in a Lindsey Lohan way...

And how could we forget Rock Star Planet Pluto! Even though she's so totally wrong for SN, she manages to hang on like a barnacle on the side of a sinking ship. Luckily for her, there's always someone who sucks just a little bit more than she does and she keeps getting a reprieve. I predict she'll survive this week again but not much longer. I know, I know...she sucks. But she's good eye candy for Dave and the boys. I mean hey...its tough sitting there week after week! They need something to keep their morale up...

Yay for you Dave! ONe will be out soon! I cant wait to grab a copy and indoctrinate my roommate. Personally I think she was abducted by aliens at some point in her life...she has NO idea who Jane's Addiction was! I'm almost ashamed to admit I know her...

eagerly awaiting the hatchet,

"Ohhhh Peebs...I, too, hate to be a pain...but DING DONG you are WRONG.

Go check out the songs on "David Live" from 1974.

**walks away whistling**"

Oh and ZIZ check when Mott the Hoople released it as a SINGLE....1972. The song is not tagged or known as a "Bowie" song even though he performs it live. The Mott the Hoople version is the one everyone knows. The version on Rarest on Bowie was recorded in 72 but not released till 95.
So guess what boo, I'm not WRONG.

So glad I won't have to listen to Josh imitate another singer...will this finally mean no more Nirvana songs?????

Double-hatchet job....ouch! But needed...

Elimination show: It had to be done.

Final comments were kinda humourous too!

Posted by: bajatango at August 9, 2006 05:58 PM

Hey Dave! That I'm pumped enough to actually write this (since, it's pretty trivial in the scope of things,)is a testimonial to how irritated, stunned, and incredulous I am and I've got to ask you, Dave: What the hell is wrong with these people? (Band and public). How is it even possible that Zayra is still even on the stage. She is clearly the absolute worst of the bunch and just a horrible singer. I'm a singer myself (recreational not career) and it just blows me away that she even made it to the show, much less is still there. Can you please explain that to me. I just don't get it.

Posted by: jane at August 9, 2006 05:58 PM

Bajatango- I agree I just saw it - I know what you mean!

Posted by: Joanna at August 9, 2006 06:00 PM

I don't know who the fuck the Linda is that posted at 5:49 a.m., but please post as Linda #2, because I don't want anyone to think you're me. Especailly when you're saying you don't like Lukas. Hopefully everyone here knows that I would never say that, because he's my main man!!!!!

Posted by: Linda at August 9, 2006 06:03 PM

Hey Dave

Well that was an interesting show tonight.

My thoughts on it..

Josh was defiinately channelling Phil. He had to go. I predict a rockstar bobble head craze in the near future.

Jill - I didn't like her screaming much and it didn't seem to really change from week to week. She was bound to hit the chopping block sooner rather then later.

I thought Patrice would have been in there but I figure that will happen soon - she's not right to front SN (she reminds me of a harder version of Sheryl Crow).

Wasn't really expecting to see Ryan in there. I wasn't to sure about his his performance last night (the uncover etc) but he sang ok.

Zarya - everyone loves to hate her. She can't sing but she puts on a show. She's probably built herself a fan base and that's what is keeping her out of the bottom three.

Can't wait to see the realty episode next week. Hope they show us Vegas.

/cheers

This is ridiculous... after Rockstar I was flicking the channels and stumbled on a beyond cheezy dancing show. I am still wondering if it's being repeated from the 70's because there's way too much Breck hair. After a couple finished their routine to "Shake Your Groove Thing", the wide-lapeled, satin-suited judge told them, "YOU NAILED IT."

I'm really freaked out right now.

Spreading the absurdity,
Deena

The show and Zayra is horrible...I had to change the station..so disappointed this time around with these ppl. :-( I thought they were going to be rocking the fuck out! They're hurting my ears.. Oh well...It's a free country..and I have a remote control right?...lol I used it.

I'm already looking forward to the Supernova tour.

Ezekiel, I'm sorry I couldn't remember who told me to re-install Flash, for some reason I thought it was a girl. Thanks again for the info.

VH1 e-mails me stories about the latest music news. I just got one about TPC. They mention the release date for ONe and tell you to vote at VSpot for "Why Cry"!!! Good going Dave!!

Posted by: Linda at August 9, 2006 06:24 PM

Deena,

oh my gawd my co-workers talk about that show incessantly! I tried watching it one night and thought I had stepped into some evil alternate universe!

Dont be scared...just think of something more pleasing. Like Dave...rawr!

shameless in her adoration,
Lily

Loved the show tonight. Totally agreed with SN. (I actually got online tonight after the show looking for something with Suzie McNeal, hoping to find her with a band and a CD.)
I dont think Patrice could possibly front the band. Her vocals arent strong enough. She may be a great singer in another type of music, but she would be lost with SN.
Lucas kinda scares me, I liked his choice last night and his encore was good, but he just doesnt do it for me.
Magni rocked, he isnt my choice, but he did a great job the last 2 nights.
Z...what is there to say, didnt like her performance last night, but she is confident and has personality. She will find a place somewhere in showbusiness and do well. She could take Europe like a storm and be big fast.
Storm sounds great, I would buy her cd, but dont see her as right for this band.
Dilana has been consistant and strong, her performance with Gilby was great, but she doesnt move me.
Josh needs a different music style, nice voice, wrong band.
Toby...last night was the first time I liked him,at least til he broke out the megaphone.
Jill, cute, just not metal.
Ryan, loved the piano song. He should go back to that. Last night was a bomb. Dont like him for the band. His look is too mellow and stoned, even when he is trying to crank it.
I havent seen any performances on the show thus far that impress me as truly taking it by the balls and making me buy a cd or a ticket. There have been great moments and great songs, but...
Where are the energy, strong vocals and attitude? Someone is gonna have to bring it!

Hey Dave and 67`s I enjoyed the show last night. I think Lukas is the best, his performance last night was awesome¡¡¡

I think Ryan Starr is the male counterpart of Zayra now....
Weird.....

Posted by: Batgirl at August 9, 2006 06:35 PM

Steph: don't be scared of Lukas! Even just minutes ago as I type, he was on tv talking about the vulnerable side he has and how he showed some of it with his Creep performance. He has attitude sure, but he has a balanced personality as well...believe or not!

Posted by: bajatango at August 9, 2006 06:39 PM

It's official; I love Ryan Star!! Can we get some more DM on the show, puleaze!

Anyho great choices made by all in my humble opinion. Cheers!

DAVE NAVARRO!! I REALLY LIKE YOUR VIBE!!

BTW – I finally got the connection

MY OPINION: Tonight finally kicked it up a gear by getting rid of two hanger on'ers....No tears cried they should have outted all 3 fools. Lets cut the shit and just have Dilana, Storm, Lucas and Magni battle it out IN THE OCTAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! peace and grease, im out.

BRING THE PAIN --- VEGAS BABY

HOW GOES THE BATTLE ROCKSTARS?? PRETTY FUCKING FUNNY, IF YOU ASK ME. LOVIN EVERY MINUTE OF IT.
I KEEP THINKING ABOUT NEXT YEAR, AND 10 YEARS TO COME. WHO WILL BE ON THE SHOW? THIS IS A DOOR TO A REVELOUTION BABY!

WHEN DOES SPREAD RADIO GO LIVE??

I just read your "Fun With the Media" blog and I have to comment...Whatever, as if--- you are a RED HOT CHILI PEPPER!!!

Posted by: Sharon Roberts at August 9, 2006 07:09 PM

hey dave!

always love hearing your comments on the show. u have such insight and i admire that i you..

about lukas and his "amazing" performance.. dont u think that marty casey of last season did such a more awesome rendition of creep. listening to the 2 mp3s just shows how weak lucas' voice is.

Sure he can move great on stage.. but bands earn millions through records.. and lukas' voice is just not that good..

anyways, love u guys! hope u can jam with SN soon!

Dave, Dude you need to write a book about the whole supernova, inxs experiences. You write so, so well...it's like the reader is sitting across from you. Captivating. I know youre super busy, but do you have any plans to write a book?

It was great to see that Lukas got one the encores. I haven't seen the rest yet but I taped it!

Anyway been real busy my self the last two days trying to get a paper done for tomorrow. Going to take a break now and watch the rest of the show and see who actually is eliminated.

Glad to hear that things went well at the Hard Rock!

Posted by: Noelle at August 9, 2006 07:58 PM

Totally agree with you Dave, Jill should go. She does have a good voice, but it would do better in the 80's. I hope your right this week. Well I better go check it out cuz the show is about to start. I was listening to Nothing's Shocking today and it reminded me to tell you that you fuckin rock!

Posted by: kala at August 9, 2006 08:05 PM

im so glad Jill and Josh went home, was i the only one who thought Josh sounded like Kermit the Frog?

Dave, i wish you had more of a say about who goes home (though i understand why you dont). You really seem to know what is best for the bands sound.

Posted by: natasha at August 9, 2006 08:12 PM

Hey Dave....

You looked great on the show last nite....only now that you are in that damn chair all the time, I never get to see your cute ass !!

Next show...give a shout out to 'headrush & shake some ass for me will ya'.... LOLOLOL please...

Posted by: headrush67 at August 9, 2006 08:30 PM

LOL @ Natasha, I think theres a cartoon/muppet theme going on here now-
Any takers for adding any superheroes to the list-Hahaha

-You think Josh sounds like Kermit the Frog
-I think Dilana sounds like Marge Simpson(or one of her sisters).

Posted by: Joanna at August 9, 2006 08:33 PM

Kala-
I agree with you. Jill's was too 80s.

It would be like a Heart flashback with a glamrock/poser singer. That was then....

But SN needs a singer that can get their giblets into the now.

Posted by: Joanna at August 9, 2006 08:49 PM

That's what I'm talking about, more cluck for the buck..thanks for the double whammy, reminder of last season about this time, just the kick in the pants the other rockers, and the audience needed...I called it~!!!ahahahah

ok, calming down now, it's just so seldom I'm right...

love,
jezzi(Josh and Jill went up the hill...)

Posted by: jezebel at August 9, 2006 08:55 PM

ps....someone tell Tommy it wasn't the FIRST time that had happened....

jezzi(remember Daphna and Heather)

Posted by: jezebel at August 9, 2006 08:55 PM

Hey Dave,
I really am blown away by you, in a good way of course.
1. I really am so happy how well you keep in touch with all of us fans, even if you dont take the time to read the comments and such, but just posting a blog lets us know that you're thinking about us.
2. You really make Rockstar. My mom & I have watched since the first eposide of INXS & you definatly keep the show grounded [my dad only watches for one reason- Brooke].
3. I personally liked Jill, but she just seemed a little fake so i'm not too sad that she's gone... Josh was very soul, and i can definatly see how he wouldn't be right for SN. But on the topic of Zayra... she really is something else, and I just can't wait to see her gone... if Jill & Josh weren't right for SN, what makes Zayra right?
4. I agree Lukas did do well with Creep & if he actually sings then i might actually start to like him.
Peace & Love

Posted by: Jennelle at August 9, 2006 09:11 PM

Beauty show as usual Dave!

Tommy's becoming a serial hatchet man. As jezzi stated it was a much needed kick in the arse for the remaining 'rockers'. Good call jezzi!

Jill gets no respect... Josh is terminally dumb. Not only did he strap into the guitar after being cautioned about it, he did the dirty bobble. WTF?

bubye...they were toast sooner or later anyway.

I liked Ryan's version of Enjoy the Silence but when the house band kicked it into overdrive it seemed to me that he was left behind. Ryan does not look like he was born to this.

To my thinking T Lee could've made it a triple header.

peace y'all

BA in Calgary(rather be in Vegas)

Posted by: B A Hughes at August 9, 2006 09:12 PM

Great show tonight. I was super stoked to hear Depeche Mode...the fact that Ryan picked that song kicked him up a couple notches on my elimination pole! HA...

Lukas is fuckin nuts...he even sang that off key falcetto part perfectly! He just has this magic onstage...charisma...intensity...mystery...call it what you want. It's working for that kid, he's the first one to give me chills. (How old is he...looks so young!)

Looking forward to your thoughts Dave...Have a great evening everyone.

Love,Amber :)

Posted by: Ambersonian at August 9, 2006 09:25 PM

I think the only reason a triple hatchet didn't happen is because it was Ryan's first time in the bottom 3. He didn't deserve to go home after getting the encore just a week earlier.

If it had been Patrice or Z in that 3rd spot, the full slaughter may have beena reality.

(Oh to be in Vegas right now too)

Posted by: bajatango at August 9, 2006 09:25 PM

My man Dave,I said earlier I didn't know who you could bring to the final 3 with Lukas to make it a great finale.I'm changing my mind bring the Iceman alongeth!Do the flip permanent like.Magni over Ryan that will work. Also consider flipping Patrice over Storm and Dilana.Dilana is a sinking ship and she ain't no JD Fortune who can just wink at the chicks and flip it around the other way.Me thinks the Mayan crowd loves her but her one trick pony style is wearing very thin and it's early.Maybe Lukas isn't such a dumbass for hiding his vocal ability after all.

Posted by: KeithMoonLives at August 9, 2006 09:26 PM

Dave - You going to Vegas with those guys? Looks like fun!

Posted by: LA at August 9, 2006 09:27 PM

Praise the rock gods above!!!

The boys finally found their balls & eliminated 2!! This has raised the bar for the others that are left~~time to show the boys what a lead singer of SN is like. Show them your stuff, but turn it up. The test is on...are you ready??

Posted by: alana at August 9, 2006 09:36 PM

Since Dilana said that she had never even heard that Who song before....and after seeing that awful, grotesque quasi-pop princess video/song of hers on youtube , and after hearing her David Hasselhoff cornball solo lyrics, I am now seriously starting to question if her rock image is merely a cloaked guise.

Has anybody seen her or heard her playing in any bands that may have delivered some vibe of a current alternative/rock/punk edge to back up her rock image.

From the sampling I've seen, she obviously can't write or deliver decent song lyrics, so I'm wondering if there is anything "of value" that she could possibly deliver to SN (other than singing entertaining cover band songs on the Rockstar stage).

Posted by: Joanna at August 9, 2006 09:42 PM

Dave---there are rumors flying that there is some inner friction with SN. Tell me it ain't so! Gilby seemed a little stressed tonight, said they can't agree on anything (or something to that affect)...and Jason honestly looked a bit like hammered dogshite. Is all OK in SNville? Maybe just the stress of such a compressed schedule?

Posted by: Tuscany at August 9, 2006 09:45 PM

Dave,
do you get tired of all of us saying we love you. can't help it, we do. you take care of yourself and have fun and write a book or do more tv.
